Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
Before my cable company started carrying MTV, we would watch videos on Night Tracks, which aired Friday and Saturday nights on TBS. This is one of the videos that seemed to always be playing, along with Human League's "Fascination" and "Come on Eileen" from Dexy's Midnight Runners.
God damn this makes me feel old. This song is fun, but man, One Step Beyond is the jam.
If OP's video doesn't work try this
While Our House was an amazing hit it certainly wasn't the only great song Madness did, yet their other singles were overlooked outside the British Isles. There are actually 8 singles that did better in the charts than Our House. There's even a West End musical written around their songs.
House of Fun
My Girl
Baggy Trousers
Driving in My Car
Wings of a Dove
Michael Caine
Lovestruck
They also had hits with two cover tracks:
One Step Beyond(originally by Prince Buster)
It Must Be Love (originally by Labi Siffre)

I deep-cleaned the bathrooms the other day and when my husband came downstairs he sang “our house... smells a little bit like bleach.”
To Americans:
Listen to all of Madnesses British hits.
Love,
A Brit
I know they tend to be seen as a bit of a novelty band but the musicianship of the band itself is incredible, and the songs are so freakishly good they're inbuilt into the psyche of all Brits. Go into a pub on a Friday night and play the opening chords of Baggy Trousers or shout out 'Hey you! Don't watch that! Watch this!" through the mic and see what happens.
Not to mention that Suggs and Lee Thompson in particular do a tremendous amount to support grassroot bands in and around London, not only attending their gigs but giving them opportunities. If you look at the support acts of Madness gigs, they have some established ones for good measure such as Geno Washington and Chris Difford, but also a tremendous amount of unsigned bands. I had the privilege of supporting Madness at their House of Fun festival last year. Suggs watched the entire set through the wings and chatted to us afterwards. He is a genuine guy and incredibly tall.
Cheers for sharing this tune and I hope I'm not rambling on too much! But I really do wish the band got more recognition.
It never occurred to me that Madness could be a ska band
