Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
I never noticed that Chevy Chase was dropping stuff on the floor during this song.
Iβm sorry, am I walking down the aisle to βYou Can Call Me Alβ?
Supposedly "I can call you Betty, and Betty when you call me you can call me Al" came about because someone introduced Paul Simon and his wife Peggy Harper as "Al and Betty" at a dinner party.

why am i soft in the middle, the rest of my life is so hard
I always thought this song was a little hokey until I saw the documentary/making of the Graceland album. They went to Africa on a wing and prayer to produce this album and ended up fusing with very talented native people of different regions of Africa, even sparking their musical career. Great watch and very inspiring as a musician.
I will always associate this song with my childhood. I was born in 1990, but my Mom grew up in the 80's and this was constantly on the car radio throughout the early portion of my life. The video is amazing as well.
I remember watching this video as a kid and thinking Paul Simon was Rick Moranis from Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.
This song to me, has one of the most poetic verses ever written.
"A man walks down the street, It's a street in a strange world, Maybe it's the third world, Maybe it's his first time around, Doesn't speak language, Holds no currency, He is a foreign man, He is surrounded by the sound, the sound, Of cattle in the marketplace, Scatterlings and orphanages, He looks around and around, And sees angels in the architecture, Spinning in infinity, and says, Hey! Hallellujah."
Lyrical magic.
Edit: Lyrical correction. I was quoting that from memory. Didn't look it up on the internet machine. Thank you reddit.
I've been on a Paul Simon kick this week, and now this shows up. What did we all subconsciously listen to that brought this up?
