And you've heard the defense argue time and time again, but that there's this bias or conspiracy going on with the police officer and therefore. That they can't be trusted, but what's interesting about what you're saying is that a lot of these initial statements the I hit it. And the other things that that Karen Reid is have lunch with her to say. And for other first responders who don't share in that same conspiracy or this bias that the defense is alleging. Well it means that the July 8th trial date has now been vacated and the judge scheduled a date of August 8 to hear arguments on the defense's motion asking to drop the death penalty against their client. That motion noted 2 experts have already examined Orman and found that he suffered from a severe mental illness. So at that point I exited the ambulance, I want to speak rough and I said you know this kind of if we want to be at the hospital get a full of we're going to be more than if my husband dies, I want to die because that seems just like normal grieving things to say. >> All right when he first gets a remember his patient is Karen read the defendant me saying it's just normal grieving at We're in the state of Massachusetts for says Karen Reid he's charged in the death of her boyfriend John o'keefe she was that killer was she the killer rather like the prosecutors claim where she's being framed in a bizarre cover up by the police go back into court now the jury is hearing from a paramedic is testifying about a call received regarding Reed the defendant having a psychological issue. ♪ >> With his cruiser but he came notified me ♪ >> her. >> From that conversation you receive for more information more clarity us. >> Yes office after it set the direction so not what he said so I'm back we were not informed that I'm not sure well so you you can testify to what somebody else. >> Told you you can win there's no objection regarding what MS. One transported was still alive we kind of just talked hypothermia cases where you know kids of fallen in rivers submerged for many minutes, maybe even hours and survived with no neurological deficits so. We're just trying to give us some sort of hope. On the way to the hospital that there was a chance that her husband could be alive. >> What if anything you know about sort of the relationship with your patient. >> She identified him as her husband. Many many times. I'm the only thing I recall is is asking if he could have survived without a jacket. >> These conversations that you had with MS. Reid where where today. There are in the back of the ambulance. Referencing you mentioned that's. Firefighter back or what sort of lead are medically tack on this is that correct. Yes. From sort of his own year-old what are some of that. Just a few these possibilities. So for any section 12 our department policy there will be 2 emt's paramedics firefighters during transport at all that's both for our safety and patient safety. So that's that's why it wasn't just 2 emts or paramedics drive into the to the I was in back with Jason and Sam Park was driving. There would be at the South go from crime and in our hands and all of a sudden perking up. She was crying having to take care of kids. I'm saying she couldn't do it. And I was saying. You know I you can do this it's it's not it's not as hard as the team's she Chuck upset I can take care of these they're not my kids and not his kids. That's when I figured out who and what one transported. And I was sent I was saying well it seems like you have a good strong support system. People who came and it was their top can find your husband. I'm just me if I knew Kerry. Roberts, I said I did. She said anybody who knows Kerry. Roberts when say those things. And that kind of. It seems strange to say something like that out after just crying because her husband was dead. When I was just kind of surprised. That is the home where keeps body was found in the front yard in the early morning hours of January 29th of 2022 we've heard testimony he was underneath the snow right now the jury is hearing from a paramedic who reached bonded to that crime scene in order to treat Karen read the defendant let's go back in. ♪ >> I moved into the pocket neighborhood, I'm back I'm at the living outside of camp for a few years. Describe their past medical history it gets passed on to the next caregiver which would be the nurses doctors at the hospital. >> More information is always better than less than. I assume Jason did. And that's your reporter with the delays into this dispatch >> So both reports to this witness is there any objection I just take a look at the year's crop. >> A perfect time to welcome my guests for the Sarah criminal defense attorney former prosecutor Jeffrey will always great to have you on what do you make of this testimony from every paramedic Fire Department the person who responded to the crime scene we've heard from a lot of them is this overkill or do you think it's necessary for the state to prove that she murdered her boyfriend. >> Well first of all not a former prosecutor looked never put people in cages but I'll tell you this I think it is necessary because the defense is 100% throwing this on the Police Department is a conspiracy and a brothers in blue and so they need to come out this from the firefighter paramedic perspective as much as they can to try and say that it's not just police officers work come together here they need to try and come out this from a human perspective from the paramedic emt's but the problem is is that what we've seen and we saw that here in Colorado with the Elijah McClain case that the paramedics and firefighters as much as we see in TV shows that there's such rivals when it comes to investigating crimes and working crime scenes. They do work in conjunction with each other so it's going to be the defense's job to tie these 2 professions together to show that they could work in conjunction to work in this conspiracy together and so the prosecution's doing what they can to try and take the focus away from the police and put it on paramedics and firefighters. It's going to be interesting to see what the defense does to tie them all back together. >> And that was my next question and I know you're a criminal defense turning my apologies, Jeffrey, but let me ask you is the defense. What do you try to do with that information to me that for instance, one of the paramedics testified that he felt Karen Reid was acting like a grieving person might act when they find their significant other and are a bunch of Sir snow seemingly deceased and so I think that helps the defense what else do you try to do. >> Well I think you try to play up those paramedics and firefighters, the ones that are responding as appropriate. You know in T type people responding to it and then also you want to play up the ones that are like the guy who was just there who couldn't help himself to keep trying to offer information above and beyond the question he was being a asked to try and say that she was acting crazy or acting aggressive or combat it. There are certain members of this firefighter paramedic teen that are clearly in that camp against her and so they need to show that it need to show those relationships and they all live in this neighborhood together and so that's where the conspiracy comes into play is that they all know each other and the ones that are coming in and acting like human beings and saying that they're seeing a grieving person. Those are the ones that you want to highlight is the ones that aren't necessarily on the side of the conspiracy. Karen Reid told you about whether she had any had anything to drink tonight for would have been much better on February 14th of 2022 when you were talking to a trooper Michael Proctor then it would be too that correct. Your memory doesn't get better over time correct. Certain circumstances and with regard to weather. Had indicated. That she took any drugs you're told to Procter and she said that she had not correct. Correct. With regard to whether she had have alcohol the night before are you told to Proctor on February 14th of 2022.
