[Music] mario hey guys and welcome back to another lost bits video right here on tetravidgaming the series where we explore the unused scrapped and unseen content in gaming it's been a long while since i covered the original luigi's mansion here on lost bits and since i made that video seems like every october i get bombarded with requests to cover the other games in the series so the time has finally come and thankfully i don't have to take on all the creepy ghosts alone as i'm playing co-op this video with my good pal and fellow minus world member swankybox hey guys swankybox here in this video we'll be covering not one not two but all three iterations of luigi's mansion that haven't yet appeared in a lost bits video and really quick if you're enjoying these videos consider subscribing new subscribers help the channel grow every day and you can always change your mind thanks so who are you gonna call wait that's the wrong go grab your poltergust it's time to head back to the mansions and find some lost bits all right so i guess let's go in timeline chronological order and start things off with the 3ds remake of the original gamecube luigi's mansion since this is a remake of the gamecube version unsurprisingly most of the unused content that's left over in this game is a remnant from the original so first there are several bits of unused audio here they were also left over unused in the original these files include professor egad laughing an unused audio file of luigi screaming and the melody heard at the end of the trailer for the original game from e3 [Music] 2001. as well as the original piano rendition of totaka's song for those that don't know kazumi tataka is a composer that has written music for a number of nintendo games and his famous jingle is often hidden in many games here his piano version was hidden a bit too well as it's never normally heard based on its name as well as being played on the piano it was likely to be played by melody pianissima the conservatory room ghost the last bit of unused audio that's remnant from the original release is this bad boy oh nice doggie nice doggy pet pet we talked about this file in the original luigi's mansion lost bits video and i theorized that it was very likely meant to be used when luigi gets hurt by one of the dog ghosts but what's really interesting is that this audio quip was actually used in a pre-release trailer for the 3ds remake remember getting so many comments from viewers telling me that it was going to finally be re-added and this and that but come launch time luigi complimenting the dog ghosts was nowhere to be heard as the file once again for whatever reason remains unused it's really strange anyways while we're on the topic of unused audio there's also one unused audio file that's been found so far that isn't a leftover from the original game based on the name it's strongly implied that this was some sort of early version of the ringtone the player gets when receiving a call from egad let's have a quick listen [Music] for graphics this game has a single model of what's labeled as a stake found amongst the models for the balcony and this was also unused in the original game well kinda it was apparently meant to be used in the boneyard but isn't there normally it's only seen there if you're far enough back and the game loads in the area in a lower resolution so the only way you could really see this is with some camera hacks now we usually talk about content that was removed in this series but as a bit of a found bits aside here a text box for mario that originally went unused in luigi's mansion actually did get re-added back in the remake so that's pretty neat next let's move on to 2013 sequel luigi's mansion darkmoon which in addition to like infinity regional text differences has some unused text strings this set of text all appears to be relating to debugging features as it includes what looks to be text relating to unlocking all missions some sort of equipment override as well as literally debug settings in a debug menu can't get more explicit than that then we have what appears to be a scrapped name for the scare scraper multiplayer mode the assets for the mode are found in a folder labeled as terror tower now in the european and australian versions of this game scare scraper is known as thrill tower which yeah is closer to terror tower but no cigar some believe that this name change was made to try and avoid any name disputes with the disney ride tower of terror which used to really scare me as a kid in disneyland and now it got a crummy guardians of the galaxy reskin and is much less creepy but i digress next just like the previous game this one too has a few unused audio files left over first is this little jingle [Music] then there's a faster paced remix of the big boob boss music [Applause] and lastly is a creepy rendition of what sounds like ring a ring or roses or ring around the rosie for us north american folk [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] what's more interesting is that this audio was actually repurposed in the luigi's mansion arcade game fittingly during the three sisters fight the three sisters also appear in dark man so it's entirely plausible that this track was once intended to be used at some point during their encounter as well and last up for this video is the most current release as of making this video luigi's mansion 3 and i gotta say i really like this game heck i even got to meet luigi's mansion 3 myself anyways thanks to the efforts of ecumber and comet metal several unused and unseen things have already been discovered in this game since we're kind of on an unused audio streak this video let's first start there so first is a normally unheard segment of the theme that plays when time is running out in this game scare scraper mode so here you go here is the segment that was cut normally when the tune reaches this point it transitions to a different track leaving this section unused the other notable unused audio file is a really basic sample of the luigi's mansion theme [Music] this file consisting of what sounds like just a single marimba is thought to have been an audio testing file that was forgotten to be removed moving on if you're getting sick of audio stuff we actually have some more unused graphics first are two unused developmental textures the first is scaling texturing measuring in a whopping 10 meter squared so each side measures at the square root of 10 thus making each little square a tenth of that length kind of a weird scaling metric i guess it's kind of close to an imperial foot who knows then next kind of similar is this checkered texture with a number 512 on each tile this texture is found amongst the files for the penthouse and although it's currently unclear exactly what the intentions of it is it's believed it could have been used for uv mapping that being the process of projecting a 2d image onto a 3d model which would make sense because 512x512 is a more common high resolution texture size moving along there's this set of textures where unlike the last one it's pretty explicitly intended to be used for uv mapping this time then next is this texture of a red sphere a yellow pyramid and a blue cube all on a green plane once again it's not entirely certain what the purpose of this texture is and finally we have this here texture of a red coin found amongst the files for the scare scraper mode while red coins were used in the luigi's mansion darkmoon's version of the mode they never ended up being implemented in luigi's mansion 3. and i guess this texture might suggest that they were once at least considered to be included here too and last time for this video is a little hidden secret found in the different screenshots that show up when selecting a mode in the screen park menu in all three images there's what appears to be a hidden developer console that gets expertly cropped out by this game's borders to hide it this basically implies that these screenshots were taken earlier in development as they were still being run on development pcs there's also another text string on the top left here mentioning the controls being locked with the one in this image appearing like someone tried to hide it by just drawing over it or something unfortunately i don't think anyone's been able to access these developer tools in any way as of yet but either way i think it's a really neat little secret i guess whoever was in charge of taking screenshots for these just didn't feel like hiding the console [Music] anyways with that closes out the luigi's mansion trilogy here on lost bits at least for now again a special thanks to swankybox for helping out so please be sure to check out his channel he makes some awesome videos but as always guys thank you all so much for tuning in today and i will see you in a bit [Music] you
