[Music] all right what have we got here well to a friend of a friend they've done a few motor swaps and it hasn't been working out for them so it is basically here to get yeah you know an ls uh i think it's a 5.3 i don't know for sure when we open the crack the computer we'll find that out for sure but it is a drive-by wire unit so that is what uh we are getting it's uh i don't know i don't know these very well 80s square body and it's got a manual so i'm still waiting on parts so i can't really jump straight into this yet but uh it's getting a new clutch pressure plate all that stuff i've ordered some headers because i've been told the factory manifolds don't work well must do something with the clutch and things like that so i've ordered some block hugger headers i'm hoping they'll be in soon but yeah i don't know it's a nice truck as far as square bodies go very nice but anyways this is where we're at right now not much i can do i just brought it in it's getting cold out just want the truck in kind of do a rundown see what i all need to do and uh there's other bits i need to order yet or not so yeah like if i order the clutch all that jazz the fuel pump i'll put a price a parts list up when i uh get closer to actually popping this thing in place uh yeah that's about all there is to update at the moment until i can get started i need the clutch stuff so i can at least slide her in get her done i have to make that uh motor plate yet because basically i think the motor is going to sit in i've been told you have to notch the crossmember somewhere for the oil pan i'm not 100 where or what a buddy of mine is gonna just tell me and i can just blindly notch it out uh other than that yeah probably do that clean up the wiring a little bit under here there's a lot going on here all right i'm not sure how far i'm gonna get tonight i kind of dragged the motor out i think all my parts came in except for my headers i'm still waiting on the headers but i think i can kind of get the ball rolling here and uh see if we can get this sucker together we should have our flywheel yeah and then we got a clutch everything for it fuel system pump and i'm gonna make some mounts for it oh hey see you got to learn how to open the other door buddy hey yeah it's much easier then so then uh well i'm gonna i don't think i can get too much done tonight but i'm gonna get the flywheel bolted on i don't know why the starter was off but i'll get the starter on i'm gonna pull the exhaust manifolds off kind of go through some of this junk just kind of get it slinged out of the way so we can kind of drop her in place well let's see i'll take the motor mounts off yeah i have to daddle around but then i'll probably clean up under the hood cut the old headers off and uh tomorrow hopefully be productive and get it into the truck but anyways let me get the few bits ready and uh yeah i'll be right back [Music] do [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] all right that went pretty good other than i dropped the flywheel on my pinky which is i poked like three holes in it so that wasn't cool so anyways the flywheel's on uh i had to go digging through my bolt bin to find some bolts we got that uh pressure plates in basically what's the whole combo i'll have to put the part numbers up but this is like a 99 silverado flywheel this is the clutch and disc from said 83 pickup it's all brand new but so there's that the flywheel won't go on unless you pull the dowel pins out you do have to oblong like open up three of the six holes but whatever not a big deal and yeah then it bolts together i have the yeah i gotta find out the bushing is from like a gto uh like a manual gto i can't remember the year 05 or something like that so that's kind of the combo and then you can throw a saginaw or throw whatever the heck you want behind here knowing that when you do bolt these suckers up the only oh oh that's crappy i'm missing a double pin i have to figure that out anyways uh you're missing one of these bolts because this is too close into the head so you can't really tap it or anything um exhaust manifolds came off fine i'm amazed the dipstick actually came out so that was easy i had my grinder ready to what normally we'll do is i'll cut this bracket because usually this thing doesn't come out and the manifold has to slip over that so that's good didn't happen without his casualties the front bolt i'm going to have to weld and pop that one out there's always one and well happened to be that one so i'm gonna get that one out and uh i think i'm gonna make what time is it oh heck it's only a quarter to ten so yeah i'll probably make the motor plates yet the motor mount plates i'm going to weld and get this one out first extract that one and then make my motor plates get the motor mounts on and we should be pretty much ready to drop her in tomorrow more or less i got a few things i got to do under the hood but we'll do that tomorrow anywho i am going to start with the i'll drag the welder here and i'm going to get that bolt out [Music] all right i'm not picking that up because it's hot but i don't know if you've seen what i did but i put a washer first welded the washer there because you got lots of heat it was kind of sunk in pretty good and then i just weld the nut to it so get lots of heat it comes out i have never had a problem and now we're all cherry right across the board so now i'm gonna make my motor mounts which are pretty straightforward i haven't cut any out because i've kind of disconnected my plasma table for right now so i am just going to do this quickly on a plate and we should be good [Music] all right well we got our mounts done just got to bolt them on now they're like uber uber easy to make so all you do is take the original mount make your four holes about a bing you did that i don't bother with the center one and then where the bottom hole is throw your clam shell on there about a bing and then uh trace out your upper holes and you're done bolt her down ready to go it's pretty much that simple and the it should just fit in i'll have to modify that cross member tomorrow but i'm just going to bolt these suckers on this does sit with a wobble so i'm not sure i might just cut this center out of this clam shell i guess i could heat it and just smash it flat but i'll see which way i decide to go because it sits it sits on here but it's like wobbly so we got to fix that but then we just bolt her on so not a big deal [Music] [Music] uh let's go this side so we got our motor mounts on you just see me chopping them up i was just doing a relief cut so i could blast that dimpled section flat we did that uh the nuts i just had to uh recess it or relief them a little bit you could either cut the webbing i just cut a little bit of the the bolt away but anyways we got three of the four you could run the second one into there down here but i don't know i've never had a problem just running the three so eh it'll be fine so anyways those are in this is good uh i guess tomorrow's plan now game plan is gonna be to uh clean up under the hood and then uh get the wire stuff out of the way and then we can get that motor off that pallet on that engine's crane and slip it into the truck so we got our yada yada or a couple connectors our fuel pump got a filter here so we're gonna deal with all that later tomorrow but uh for now that's what i'm going to call her so all righty for the next day i've sawed off the headers and i kind of got an oil pan and i just mocked it up on there to get an understanding what needs to be done and it seems like this is all that i need to do is basically square this off kind of thing because the front of the oil pan is going to come into that vicinity so probably somewhere in this vicinity like this i'll just cut this back flatten it out so it's like flat like this because you can see where this comes up so essentially i just got to do similar to this side over to here so this one's out yey so this one needs to be about ea yeah we'll figure it out we'll just do a slice out of there and maybe heat it and just beat it down into place and then we can just weld it up it should be that simple yep prayers we'll give it a shot [Music] do [Music] do [Music] all right a little bit of farting around but it's in uh pretty much bolt it all up i gotta do the two upper bolts yet release the one more on this side and try to figure out i don't know there isn't really anything to figure out we are just gotta start springing the wiring out here after all righty i didn't get so i didn't get as far as i wanted today got the heater hose hooked up the power steering line is a direct match up so you just bolt her straight in that's good i got to get a piece of hose i'll probably steal it off the pump just to connect up the return line um basically stuck waiting on headers and then this one here i don't have the fuse block so i'm gonna find a fuse box just to make this simple because i can just mount that up over there uh yeah it's pretty much it for tonight i'm not feeling it so tomorrow's a new day well coming up with a game plan here seeing how this thing has dual tanks we have our return line up here our feed is below and then you can switch it through this big funky thing here uh i'm gonna mount the pump up here inside the rail pretty low down here that's the plan still far away from the exhaust that way i can put the fuel pump or the filter just downline here a little bit and then we can run our plastic lines up and over the motor or our plastic but our fuel lines up and over to the fuel rails so should be pretty straightforward this one will be able to just straight rubber connect up to there and uh i'm not 100 sure how i'm doing my my uh other side yet my return because i have a hard line running all the way there so i don't know i might just run a new line just to piggyback this one all the way to the front and just do it all with some quickness kind of the plan uh this can sit however it needs to be i'm just hoping it'll be not have any problems pulling from where it is because in the ford world this thing had a pump in the tank to feed this thing and then this would provide all the pressure so i don't know we're going to play this game and see how this works out i don't know if they like the pull fuel from very far uh but we'll see how it works anywho um yeah let's start making some fittings the plan right now is gonna be to we got our fuel filter so we're gonna make our connectors for it our push connects to go into there and then the other side are connections for [Music] uh to clip it to the fuel pump and to the fuel rail and for all of that we should need these bits it's going to be our fuel line and our supply with our connectors and crimps this is our messy workbench [Music] foreign [Music] do [Music] do [Music] so this is pretty much it the smaller end is what goes into the filter [Applause] and then the bigger end is for the push connects so again that's like a master cool uh what do you call it crimper or something i don't know flare flaring kit master cool i don't know what model number or anything um but that is what it is pretty much sandwich this all together tighten her up stick her in the line make these uh quick connections there and we're good to go [Music] so [Music] all righty enough lolly gagging around let's get her done well see how far we get so i gotta switch that bottom out on the battery tray i've slung all the wiring over onto this side now so that's all kind of cleaned up and stuff uh i shouldn't say cleaned up but i don't he must have a couple amps or something in here because we're gonna move the battery over to this side that way we can use all of these plugs and stuff the original wiring like ground and power we'll just be able to reuse all of it so that's good uh yeah that's all i reach no problem pull that gas pedal out we'll have to wire the new gas pedal because the new one got cut we got our oil sender i picked up i just needed some hose clamps and a fitting to do the return line so i'm going to plumb that up i think i have a clamp or something that i can do to hold the fuel pump and the filter on so that should button up underneath the truck well other than the exhaust to which the headers came in today just some ebay dealios so let me unwrap that and we'll see how they fit [Music] [Applause] [Music] family [Music] so [Music] hmm i'll be doing my light oh there it is okey-doke so we got our fuel system is in my light i haven't wired it yet but we got our filter rubber mounted to the rail there fuel pump is there we're just hosed into this system so i got a high pressure hose for the return which just connects up into a push connect it's going into that original distribution block that's for the two tanks so that should be good i can run a ground wire down and i just got to run one wire up to the front to where my fuse box hopefully i can find one is and then we can wire in the fuel pump to there i still have to find like i have to the headers are in our headers are all in but we need to do like a sharp 90 to get up to here and we need somewhere for our o2s to be sitting in the middle there yet so have to find that i don't have that bit lying around so uh so i'm going to run the wire anyways and then i'm going to work my way to the top and start getting stuff situated under the hood there [Music] [Music] do [Music] [Music] all right well that kind of sucked this goes into the tack module and i guess it got snipped at some point so everything's pretty color coordinated the only thing i don't know is there's two wires that are just gray so they might be the same thing they might not so if something doesn't work that's the only two i gotta maybe switch we won't know till i get everything wired up uh the gas pedal itself needs to be soldered up too but i think all the wires are pretty straightforward and i don't mind that one being cut because it's a smaller hole in the firewall the feathers got to do so i'll maybe punch that hole in there so i can feed the wire through i think i got to get some more soldery crimps because i don't have enough for the small bits there and then figure out the gas pedal so i don't have the fuse box yet so i can't deal with that i could probably pull the oil sender out and get his oil center in there yeah it's still fairly early i've got to do the water temp which is kind of a big deal so i'm not sure if i'm comfortable putting this where i do normally do it because it's so thin so i'm not 100 sure what to do with that one yet and it doesn't have the big provision in the front of the water pump for it because sometimes they have the bigger block that's a thicker aluminum and i can tap it into there so i'm not sure about that one and then uh i guess i can do the rad why not i'll get the rad in let's figure out the air box i think we can use the stock air box don't see why not and uh get the vacuum booster on yeah do a few little things here [Music] [Music] do [Music] [Music] turn [Music] [Music] baby [Music] ah [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] bye all right well that's my fix to reversing this battery tray now i'm just going to let this cool down spurts a bit of paint on her and then we can throw in the truck over there [Music] and just like that i just had one of these two wave barb fittings so i cut the one end off drilled the hole and soldered that on for the vent or whatever steam port see i guess now we can throw the rad in the truck we can do that uh i gotta bolt the battery box down i gotta drill two holes for that thing and i don't know if i'm about as far as i can get tonight i think i'm close i guess i could do the gas pedal yet but we'll get this in first and the battery sitting in there [Music] buildings [Music] [Music] so [Music] well this looks like this is going to fit pretty fine uh i have to just trim the intake a little bit or the fan shroud a bit so this can sit square and i'm missing the rubber boot so i got to find one of those but if you do that you can kind of get away using the stock air box that all goes there with the hat on this will be a pretty clean setup we got our uh our battery boxes there i put a like a bracket down there so we're using the stock truck pcm mount and stuff uh a buddy had a fuse box but i'm hoping that we got some plugs and stuff so i can kind of repurpose it if not i'm gonna have to find one just to source one out so i can [Music] have a nice clean mount out there somewhere for it and then start proceeding once i got the computer then i can kind of wire up all of his stuff back into this thing and then because it'd fit nice in this corner with the cap everything on it but uh yeah till then i can't do a whole lot i think i'm pretty much at the end of what i can do at this point until i get a few more parts but it's close uh just need to do the exhaust this intake mount this box figure way to mount this thing and uh put the computer in and then flash the computer and then yeah off to the races we go [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] all right been working on this all evening i don't have much to show other than the exhaust is in place unfortunately i have the wrong o2s so i have to get different o2s um yeah that was pretty much the big endeavor trying to get all of this stuff to all work uh and i did finished up a bunch of wiring and stuff upstairs to which i'll still i got to clean that up and then i can show what i all did but i did get my oil sender in the water temp is in uh i think it's pretty close to firing i got to change the ground cable around and uh just get the bolts onto the motor mounts here like the pins are through but i gotta finish bolting them together and we're pretty much just about ready to fire it up got through some fluid in the power steering uh haven't touched the rad yet we haven't put anything in there uh we got a little hat on air box is tight we still have to clean up the wiring yet we unlock the computer we should be good to go maybe if this all works out this should be very uneventful [Applause] while judging by my battery we are very uneventful here okay try to booster on [Music] [Applause] uh alrighty right away i know there's something wrong because it should just fire right away so what's not hooked up all right attempt number two [Applause] so smells like old gas and it seems like it's only running on one side i gotta check my fuses here nope still not it it's got to be another ground i'm sure i'm missing one somewhere here all righty we have finally figured out the problem with the truck um i spent a lot of hours just digging around trying to find grounds uh just random things and what it basically boils down to is just four injectors are plugged what got me all confused is the fact they were all the same side everything uh i basically i kind of checked over all my grounds they were all good my coils had power i checked the continuity between the injectors and my computer and it was getting a connection everything was good so then i just wasn't sure on my grounds checked all my grounds again did everything then finally i just decided to pull my fuel rails off check them you could see there was crud inside i blew them out didn't help i basically moved the injectors over to the other side and i screwed one up clearly because these now the first three fire the last one still dead the one front one runs and then the last three are dead on this side so it's clearly an injector issue so now i just got to pull the rail off again i'm going to replace the four injectors that are bad and hopefully they'll be good basically the way i was diagnosing that was i was just taking a temp gun and i was just probing my exhaust because this side they're all warm hot like hot the other side wouldn't get over like 60 degrees or 70 degrees so now it's like this one sits at 200 and it's like 70 or 80. like these three are dead the last one on that side is dead so figured it out now we just got to switch it or yeah pull the rail off one more time change out those injectors and clean up our wiring the uh basically the old gm wiring which normally would have came across the motor or not i just slung it this way ran it over on this side this is the only thing when you do the standalone and you kind of eliminate the fuse box and put in a small like if i don't use the big fuse box i use this i have a relay right here for my fuel pump and then this is like a fused this is the two orange wires that come out of the back of this plug i don't know if guys really want me to go through this i can do a step by step how to thin this i shouldn't say thin because i had only actually do anything with the harness like and if it's dead i leave it in here like this is the the evap and it's just gonna get wired into here i don't care it's that little doodad that usually sits on top but i mean i guess essentially you can unravel this keep what you need and then pull back through everything through the harness and get rid of whatever you don't need to thin it but it's still gonna end up being messy like this in my eyes anyways um there's a couple other plugs in here this one this is my odb uh there's some cruise control stuff in here yet um yeah not too worried so anyways this one i'm going to be running in for the you know the the little scanner port that one i'll run in this white ones attack wire they came off this plug i'm going to leave this plug here in case we want to do cruise control or if he needs if he puts an electric speedometer oh yeah i can't do that on this one i don't know it's here i leave it i'm going to bundle this up clean these up what i did see all these pinks i busted them down into uh i don't know what called grids so essentially one bundle is going to be all the coils and the or all the injectors and the coils that's one side and then the other one is all the coils everything on the other side um the other one is the pcm and the computer and the other ones like the throttle and all the sensors are sitting in it so then i just have four fuses so in a case like this none of the fuses were popped but i knew something was wrong on the one side i checked the spark i had spark but it was just not firing so i knew it was a fuel problem just wasn't sure if it was an injector issue or what it was it was just so random because it was all one side but anyways i'm rambling i'm just gonna pull the the rails off and switch out some injectors so let's get that going and we can call this truck done [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] so [Music] all right so you can kind of see the setup how much smaller that is over the other fuse box really you only need five fuses but five fusing relay yes you could thin this and make this smaller but yeah whatever it'll work it's fine i kind of have two sets of wiring harnesses bundled underneath there so no biggie she is good to go uh yeah i don't know i guess uh this is where we're gonna leave it i don't know if this was insightful for anybody but anyways it's done and as always thanks for watching and uh we'll catch you guys on the next one later [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] you
