hi I'm Alex archo and I've been buying and selling antiques since I was 9 years old from basements to scrapyards I'll look just about anywhere I can to find lost antiques and collectibles and sometimes I'll go big and buy everything I never know what's going to happen or who I'm going to meet this is our life this is our adventure and this is curiosity [Music] Inc [Music] hi everybody and welcome to today's video you'll notice that I am not driving uh I'm handsfree today because I'm out with my friend David and his wife Fran and uh we are going to Fran it is your older brother's property is that right so uh Fran's older brother who was uh 90 some odd years old had lived on this property for 50 years he's moved out he's still alive he's moved out and the stuff that's left behind is essentially kind of considered maybe garbage or it's going to go there's only days left before uh cleaning crews come and it gets empty completely and I'm going to try and prove today that sometimes there is treasure among trash so we're headed out of town we're going to dig through some out buildings and some garages and see if we just can't prove that even when you think it's garbage you can find a treasure so I'm putting all my skills to work here let's see if we can find a few good things so off we go so we are here at the property and there are many there's numerous out buildings the gentleman that would was on this property was here for 70 years and everything that's left is more or less just getting left behind so we're going to have a little look around and see what there is but I'm excited at the number of out buildings that there are let's go have a look now with a property like this you kind of have to check all around now before we get into some of these side buildings like that one over there there are pallets of while there's a lawn mower who knows what kind of shape that's in some of the things you find might suck like these elect lock vacuums which are actually kind of collectible um that one's got the little skis on it so you can kind of pull it across your carpet um but I'm not here to look for vacuum cleaners I'm hoping that I'll find some other sorts of treasures and things inside the out buildings should be a fun exploration I'm actually going to walk down here oh look at that upholstery very 1970s uh dining room chair and there's bits and pieces and what is this an old nabob coffee tin sometimes you do have to pay attention as you guys know from watching my channel that stuff that's perceived as junk might actually have a purpose again that's a hey did Pontiac hubcap probably from the early 70s or something like that I mean it's perfectly good shape it's kind of a shame to leave it behind old cream can this building is uh kind of caving in I'm poke my head in here and I can see some old Rogers syrup honey containers way on the other side it looks like this is mainly where he was stacking his wood um like extra Lumber and things like that and I'm going to tread very lightly because like I said the uh roof is kind of caving in over there we got some telephone insulators on the ground there uh which you know some people still buy those things I'm not a not a big fan there's a uh back seat of an old car with a bird's nest I don't see any birds eggs in it but I don't want an angry mama bird to come after me either um there's a whole pile of old syrup containers and cans I can see on that far wall um and it's possible there's some value there those cans uh you can kind of see can you see it with the Green Top those sell for about $15 to $20 each at antique shows but is it worth me risking my life to get over there that's a little debatable um I may come back and revisit that oh look at that thing sanitary Fountain that's an old uh turn of the century uh shower accessory and that would if you had like a a basin or bathtub you'd hang that up to give yourself a little bit of pressurized water to wash yourself with that thing dates back to probably around 1900 to 1910 and it still has the graphics on it in fact if I can reach it this is where I'm putting my foot right now if I can get over there and if I can reach it that is something worth saving I don't have much faith in what I'm standing on let's see you know what occurs to me that could could have been full of hornets as I pick it up look at the graphics on this thing you got your sort of 1903 yeah in 1908 and there's your lady bathing on the front of it ooh la la let's get get the uh dead mice and whatever that are in here out and we'll see what we got to work with definitely an orphan yeah well you know and it's GM stuff is right up your alley so while you guys are putting that stuff I guess in the uh or over by the car we'll make a pile here hopefully not too big of one because I didn't drive my own vehicle today and trust me David's got a very nice Escalade that we don't want to mess up but I'm going to work my way through the weeds look at how overgrown this is farm equipment and partial cream separator or is that a tire machine you know I thought that was a cream separator base at first but actually now that I look at it that's something more industrial don't really know what that is maybe a lathe base or something okay what I want to do is get back to these overgrown areas where other people might not have been so bold as to venture oh there's a crow up there calling me there's all kinds of scrap and old lawnmowers big job to clean up a Farm property that has uh not been cleaned up in a long time oo might have some potential for some Treasures in here make sure there's no little birds like look at this there's the uh Fuller uh belt rack right there that's an old store and same with this cable display that's collectible you can peel that off the wall that would sell see it's always worth looking in the sheds I'm going to see if I can turn the light on on my camera here okay I've got the light on oh there's a stack of hubc caps yeah so like see that metal tire repair kit thing there that's worth grabbing this is the stuff that nobody else thinks is collectiable until you put it in the shop and then they they go oh that's cool old bicycle seat somewhere might find the bike to go with the okay how the roof look do not want to this looks like it's uh car parts there's regulators and relays for old Vehicles air cleaner off an old car what's it off of something with a 350 so Chevy got starter I'm also oh there's a bunch of brand new John Deere parts in the boxes back there was another one of these Bose seal kit look at what I have to stand on here trying to get over to this another one of these old store displays definitely worth grabbing now I'm I am keeping my eyes open for you know rare old car parts and stuff like that is this a an old car head lamp or's that motor that's an old like 1920s car headlight and it looks like they're might be a pair of them this one has a bracket on it they don't match but they are certainly old steering wheel off off a chevet actually it's in good shape I don't know how many people are restoring Chevettes but if they were it's another big old headlamp right there cool curtain rods I'm just like everywhere I look there's everywhere I look there's something to look at um I can see bits of engine some kind of old Rack or store display if that was a oil can rack with its original top you could be looking at Big dollars on something like that so I'm feeling optimistic that you know we are finding a couple interesting things in here let's see if I can climb my way out without poking my eye let's hope that's not foreshadowing o okay what am I missing there's so much to see there's a little can up top a bunch of Steel oool what was this for Walker Hydro hydraulic oil Walker manufacturer it's an old can and some little old Oilers up there okay you guys are finding a couple things yeah I saw that at first I thought okay flat-sided bottle it's a beer bottle but when you see a flat-sided soda bottle that means it's really old because um they started going to curvy sort of uh looks like the coke bottle and they couldn't apply a paper label like they used to like this beer bottle had you this one yeah so but no that one wouldn't be worth anything really but if you find one that says Coca-Cola on there or or Dr Pepper and it's flat sided that's about 1,900 and they're worth a little bit of M it's worth picking up anyway but I'm going to go peek my head back in this side cuz there was a couple little belt racks on the door I'm going to see if I can salvage I mean there's the whole Co-op van sitting there oh uh you missed out on the Lumis one oh there was a Lumis van here yeah you have to be right around okay hang on this is what I'm going to try and Salvage off of the wall here if I can it might be a little difficult to get off we'll see see if we can save it I that back I mean that that oh I see is more wrecked than last time he's saying that they somebody drove into this with the back ho and so yeah that was your uncle did yeah his sight maybe was not well he made a peeky hole I can see what's in here I never noticed before I out house don't fall in the out house be careful there a bunch of pigeons that went in there oh yeah I can see yeah there's nothing there's a boat there is a boat in there isn't it just a motor no there's a whole boat strapped on the wall yeah right there I didn't see the other yeah there's a red boat oh God you got there's lots of little buildings to kind of peek okay I got the there's I got the warning about there being pigeons okay well the pigeon building thankfully looks like it doesn't have anything for me to explore so I don't have to get myself all dirty in there it's the top of an oil drum oh there's a whole combine sitting here probably what those John Deere parts were for oh there tire and hubcap Central over here and car parts jeez you know you never know when you're going to find like an old motorcycle frame that's worth saving this is exactly the type of pile at a farm that you want to look through because uh odds are scrap metal piles see look there's part of a motorcycle there's a Yamaha gas tank they throw all the metal in a pile thinking at some point they're going to call somebody to come and pick it up and then they don't but this is where old Advertising Signs might end up old oil cans I I said old motorcycle and bicycle frames I can see uh a motorcycle wheel down there you guys see it boat motor and a shopping cart that'd be one fast shopping cart and old bicycle FR I thought that was a lobster trap for a second I'm like we're a little far away from the Atlant itic to have a lobster trap but oh that's part of an old Honda Trike down there you see that I didn't even notice that and it's in John Deere Green which is kind of an odd color for it oh but look I do see an old oil can in there ano can and there's a ba can right there even older yet in fact there's stacks of British American oil cans here my instincts might be proving to be true follow the metal and you'll find your rusty gold oh there's a door on that side I'm peeking through the window though that Imperial oil can it's probably from the 1940s not overly valuable but I see some other ones in there too I'm going to see if I can get around somehow to the front they're probably wondering where I went but since they drove me they know it wouldn't be far okay this looks like the wrong way definitely the wrong way square body Chev truck over there so this property is changing hands in just a few days and anything that we don't take is being left here for the new owners to deal with and uh you know it's a big old wheel so we're trying to basically see if there's any this is the the final scr to see if there's anything worth saving or bringing back I don't think anybody's been back here in a while judging by how these trees are built up all around here this is would be a nice spot to find like an old Indian motorcycle and obviously some dead Vehicles ended up out here see if I can even get this door open I can't get the door open but I think I can wiggle in okay let me get a wide shot look at this wow it's kind of magical got old tractor seat some value in that oil cans it's part of a sign over there you see that it says maybe CA something registered and I'll try very hard not to stab myself back here what the heck is that that might be part of a piece of Machinery or part of a rack of some kind gosh it's it's really buried and that's porcelain enamel too which means that would actually clean up what I'm looking at right now is if any of these other oil cans back here are uh companies like um let's see what does this one say oh Maple Leaf okay that's worth taking and that one might be a good one too if I can get to it but the problem is there's a ton of Rusty debris all around me here so to get over to that can I'm going to have to find my footing and uh finding your footing in here means you're standing on rickety old metal but there's definitely some old oil cans back here um I'm looking for companies like uh William pen White Rose Buffalo would be nice I wouldn't say no to a buffalo pan oh that's nothing this is ba though not in the greatest shape it's like see how that one's got a wooden handle on it down there that's a real old one that's like maybe 1930s era you get down into the older stuff that's where that's where the value lies oh look there's there's signs back there another VA Peerless heavy duty I'm going to move some of these up near the front here CU that was what did that say something something cruise and Nu part of a sign that got cut down but I do see some metal back here you guys see that I'm going to see if I can reach it I'm going to put the camera away for a second and climb over there oh my gosh guys this is better than I ever expected on a barn find it's one of the best barn find signs I've ever found it's an original 1940s porcelain enamel Hudson sales and service on I can't believe that was back it's double-sided too look it's doublesided I'm so excited you have no idea guys this is probably like a oh gosh it's an expensive sign and it's in near perfect condition that's probably the crate that it came in and they just had it piled in the back of this Barn okay I'm going to get this out oh my gosh it's so worth coming so worth coming out Austin what is this a little Toyota it's a Nissan two door well I'm going to go have a look at the Chevy truck back here oh yeah there's a lumus fan 65 the world's oldest mobile home oh yeah there's a 65 forward with the camper on the back see this was last on the road in 1985 guarantee you could get this thing running these things are indestructible High Sierra Edition feel like it's been under this tree for a few years and there's a 60 actually that this old Ford looks it looks pretty solid well not the Lumis truck the lumus truck looks not great you think it came from Ontario where they salt their roads somebody Boogie van actually this isn't aluminous truck is it or maybe it is it looks more like a custom van like a boo Yi van with that window in it and then this is a 65 Ford Sur look how solid this is in comparison with the old camper on the back oh it's got the suicide knob on it those are outlawed here now but they're actually pretty handy yeah this is Sal very salvageable it's a local vehicle so it's never been out of this area with got the V8 in it it's actually a good truck to save okay here we got a big garage full of stuff and then the lights are on lot of tools band saws snow blower old license plate and tractors and cans okay oh yeah here's a little John Deere and then this has chains on it that's a snow brush I think or snow plow or something all the wash washers and dryers and Ovens that have died in that house gone out here oh the old tins and that well yes but did you ever see this my Uncle used to see you put this on your ears and just like a doctor you listen to the m that's right yeah that's H for listening to your engine yeah yeah some mechanics still use those too oh that looked like it had matches in it one there's a whole bunch of these in that one fallen down shed there's like a whole bunch of them on the back wall you guys I not worth the not worth the risk okay oh jeez that's a um that thing that says Willard on it that's from an old auto service station and that would be what you put your batteries on that's a Willard uh battery tester station definitely won't get that like she says the garage she REM right do so this looks like almost a seed rack type of thing I guess but he used it for so it had seeds originally okay probably I that's pretty cool I'm I'm enamored by some of these actual displays here whether something auction socializing he went to auctions yeah I can see this looks like the type of place where somebody went to an auction and bought every jar of nuts and bolts they could find got the gray Bonnie finest money can buy old tool racks and stuff now I was just sort of enlightened that they might not want to sell some of this stuff cuz the people were taking taking over the property soon have an attachment to the garage type of fittings which is a shame cuz they're cool what's in the cupboard oh boy more and more and more and uh your Uncle Ben's probably the only guy who knows where everything is in here too you need a 3/4 inch ratchet well it's in the bucket on the bottom of the left hand side and I am paying close attention oh I hear a cat that's a neighbor's cat oh the neighbor's cat we need for vulcanizer that's neat here's another thing I walked past three times before I realized what I was looking at it's an old Mopar like 1960s or 7s um like a parts storage it's like a tin shelf but it would have been in an automotive shop and that's where you would have kept some spare parts in there when you're working on your car okay so although a lot of this stuff is getting left behind I'm still getting kind of the like um well maybe you should leave that cuz it's part of the property I mean everything is potentially getting scrapped here so it's kind of hard to to walk away and leave a good antique uh belt sign or something on a wall that's probably no good to anybody uh out here but you know it's not my property I just got invited but uh so far did find a few cool things that will make its way back home um I'm going to come back out to the scrap pile here because seem to be some good stuff back in this corner okay I do kind of want to see what's in here oh look at this definitely nobody's been in here in a while it's full on Indiana Jones cobwebs but knowing that I found that sign and I do do see another Maple Leaf gear oil can but getting in here might prove to be a little bit dangerous but I'm just having a quick peek I see lots of bicycle parts and rims and wheels and bits and pieces certainly is stuff on this property 70 years of stuff to be precise I continue the search I haven't even been in this big building yet I'm going to have a little peek o something died is that like a coyote skeleton or something yeses didn't even see that bicycles and uh just a couple days this is all going to be buried in snow so I wouldn't have had a chance to really even kind of preview what was out here I just know that there's good stuff lurking here's some old bicycles frames in the scrap pile don't see anything particularly old this this one might be a little bit older on top here but again this is all stuff that they just deemed as scrap but I found that brand new in the crate Hudson dealership signed sitting in the shed so this is the type of place where I am going to have a little bit closer look at some areas cuz you just never know but this is a big pile of metal here I'm not seeing a whole lot um immediately oh there's the base of an old Singer sewing machine over there and unfortunately it's not worth me going back over there to show you guys because uh I don't feel like ripping my leg open on something like that today can't remember when my last tetna shot was I have a feeling by the end of today my next tetna shot will be later today knock on wood Alex don't jinx yourself old bikes all right I'm I got all excited with that one building there see if I can sneak my way back in and have a look because it seems like there's some real old stuff in there o see look at that say bye to your jeans that's part of a hay rke just ripped my jeans open again I just joked about needing a tetanus shot and I almost actually needed one there's no danger paying this job okay this is the rickety little door that I went in earlier all right what am I missing in here guys what am I missing this is early early stuff this stuff has been in here a long time we're talking like 1940s era equipment in here so if there's going to be something of real special interest it's going to be in this area there's those old ba cans they're honestly they're only worth like maybe 20 bucks each and I know I could bring them back and hey it's 20 bucks a can but uh I'm saving room for real special things plus it's not my vehicle and it don't mess it up okay maybe I did a good job getting all the uh signs out of here let's check back here okay I think that was the uh that was a golden egg on this trip and work my way out seriously just stepping on piles of rusty metal right now so I'm going to get myself out of here oh thought that was a grill off of a car for a second I don't know what that is actually it might be the grill off an old car kind of is curved and has a attachment point on the front like a 1930s kind of Grill oh actually you know what that is that's a uh spare tire off of like a 30s car you guys see that that's like a spare tire cover okay well that's worth digging out banana seat off a bike okay I'm going to dig for this one guys there you go I think that's a side mount tire cover for a 1930s Ford or a back mounted tire cover either way it's all original even has the hub cap on it pretty cool score and here's the big building the shop is this where the tractor was kept okay they are chatting and I am looking there's an organ here's the organ you guys were talking about old tip fighter bird cage that in the roof that's an old uh tv antenna looks like a tractor seat there's an there was there anything in the Attic well there's those belly pot those stoves oh pot belly stoves yeah it's not quite as old as F gosh you guys see there's an attic there I have come up into the attic of the old shop here was part of a radio tube radio tires please no mice or squirrels jump at my head tires stove there it should be well it's there's all kinds of stuff up here it's uh it's quite full but uh mainly looks like engine parts uh bits and pieces off of cars did they have a swimming pool or maybe that was for shocking their well CU there's uh chlorine and stuff up here all right ironically part of a staircase this goes all the way back but they're not sure about the stability up here so I I'm not going to dig too deep but don't see anything too worth risking my life over right now so down I go so I kind of wiggled my way over here there's a school desk sitting here you can see some old cans kind of hidden back there but I noticed these are World War II USA marked uh these are like Jeep Jerry cans so if a person has an old army jeep they'd probably need one of those things you said uh you guys wanted to keep a couple but I might be able to take one yeah okay sure no this is fine they all look about the same cool I'm in the basement of The Farmhouse there's no power no electricity no water it's all shut down and it's prettyy well been cleaned out in here but I mean I figure it's worth having a look because you just never know when something was left behind that might be worth checking out hopefully there's no uh no surprises in here oh there's a little safe there yeah there's a there's a safe down here yes I could lift it and not very many people are interested in lifting it it was full of Canada Post coin sets oh and you know now that you're in here I said oh there is a freaking Little M there how' you get in here is it alive oh no it's dead it's dead I don't know how it's a little dead thermometer yeah she I don't know I I i' leave it take a picture but you think she wants to keep that well she was here the other day and she looked around okay like I said I'll ask her if she does but I know like to say she told me than I throw everything out and one that thing oh it's still hard he she shut so there's no power there's ice in there yeah okay so she shut it off the other day and I said well I know it's water but you don't want the water in there too long I'm going to have to tell her this would have had glass God yeah so see there's water in there it's going to rust I said you know what you unplugged it you come in and it's a sounds like it's draining out at the bottom or something I just heard a bunch of water go oh yeah I see that right here okay I'm going come out of this room yeah why got safe we still left it here that okay I'm going upstairs where there's daylight I gu that is kind of a bummer when you see something half worth taking and you can't pick it up or buy it boy there's an old washing machine fits perfect in there some paintings on the wall look the old rotary phone is still what they were using it's like a 50-year-old phone that was still in use up until not that long ago all right well it seems like the house is pretty well empty other than finding a 19 40s Willard battery thing oh there's some clothes still the closet Overcoat 70s leather jackets but you know if you found like a Hudson Bay coat Bowie ties old western shirt I do like old western shirts uh is this open that doesn't open but there is there anything back there no what's up top nothing so some old clothes you always wonder when some of these panels do they move do they open what it was okay I decided to come back and look what I thought was a Canada Dry rack is actually a Castro oil oil rack even better yet and I was able to dig it out after a fair amount of struggle and digging so one more things saved out of the shed okay guys it's the next day I uh have to tell you that the drive home was a little bit more um than we bargained for I took the wheel uh daav had been driving most of the way and on the way back uh I offered a drive so he could have a bit of a rest well um it's pitch black on the highway coming back and I see a little bit of movement in the ditch and there it is three full grown moose mooses me moose lots of moose and uh I slam on the brakes luckily that Escalade had really good brakes and we got within probably just a couple feet of hitting a moose you you it's like we slammed on the brakes uh the vehicle lurches to a halt and the Moose just looks over at us it was so close I swear if it would have sfed out it would have fogged up the window and it just kept walking and there was three of them there very close call um so after kind of resting last night and um and get everything organized uh I went over this morning and sold most of the stuff I got like the castal oil rack and some of the tin cans that were there but I did keep one thing for myself and that of course was the New Old Stock I pulled this out of the crate I kid you not I had to break and you can see the lines here that's where it was still in the crate after all those years there was like um wood every couple inches and uh that's how they had it secured into the crate I'm the one that broke the wood off the crate and got this thing out um I couldn't save the crate because it was buried too deep back there but I got the sign let me show you what this is going to look like cleaned up I guarantee this thing is going to be like a 10 out of 10 I just got to grab some cleaner and we'll do a little and as expected look at that thing it's almost as good as brand new my Shadows kind of in the way but it's glossy it's shiny it doesn't have any bullet holes in it I mean the fact that this thing survived in a scrap metal shed for 70 80 years and nobody else pulled it out and I found it in its original crate it's just remarkable and uh it's a very rare sign even on its own and the fact it is double-sided I still have to clean the other side but um super rare thing and I'm very very pleased it's a one in a million find to find something like this in a barn like that and I always hope that I will and yesterday was the day so that's it for me today guys and I have to say it was a lot of fun digging through the Barnes David and Fran both thank you for bringing me out and my best sign barn find I've ever had is going to hang proudly in my garage from now on uh so anytime you see that thing you'll know where it came from but guys what a great day great adventure and thanks so much for tuning in we'll see you all soon subscribe if you haven't already and as always bye for now
