over the next 10 days I am certain will witnessed more history in the making at London 2017 for the first time ever for the first time ever the IWF wall championships are taking place in our great capital and it's fitting that this global event should take place in a city as global as ours a city with an international heritage and an international outlook because for generations people have flocked to London from every corner of our globe enriched in our society our culture and our economy and they see then we honor that tradition of welcoming talent by hosting the finest athletes anywhere on the planet right here in our city in doing so we show that London is and will always be open to all no matter the color of your skin the colour of your passport or the colors of your making these championships happen thank you there's no escaping the fact that it's been a painful few months for London with a tragic fire and terrorist attacks in our capital and while our city Hills [Music] just sure you're gonna need a mother never before these all that glue [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] stirring speeches stirring performances and now it's time for the athletes to take center stage here in this magnificent Olympic Stadium a cracking opening night in prospect and the climax of the evening will be what many Brits in the crowd will hope will be a fabulous finish for Farah in the 10,000 meters here's what we've got coming up we start with the prelims of the hundred we've got men's qualification in the discus and the long jump women in action in the field with qualification in the pole vault we've got women's 15-hundred qualification in what will arguably be one of the most competitive races of the championship then the first round proper of the hundred and we finish off with Mo Farah going for global title number ten in the 10,000 meters so we start with the preliminary round of the men's 100 meters this for the right to join the big names in the first round proper and there is only one name on top of the world or certainly as far as the last seven or eight years of concern Usain Bolt signing off tomorrow night's hopefully in the final this is the battle to join him and the best of the rest in a round about an hour's time that's the lineup for the first of the four preliminary rounds only the first three guaranteed to advance as of right rodney of canada familiar name in this lineup there are some really good athletes forced to come through qualifying which shows you the strength in depth in global sprinting at the moment rodney starts in lane 3 on the inside exam SoCo of Guinea knocked out in the heats in Beijing and Rio then Brendan Rodney's negative Cameroon dark ego of Nauru he's a long way from home not down in the heats of the Oceania chaps the age of 22 outside him machardie dual citizenship with the United States a massive man he's gone chain one for is lifetime best and so true as this guy national record holder for Kenya semi-finalists at the African championships last year 10 won for him as well it's armaid of Bangladesh on the outside so the three big men here should be Rodney at Cana doing brief machardie at Liberia in six Odhiambo of Kenya in seven first three plus two fastest losers across the four preliminary heats here we go the very first action then of the 2017 I double AF World Athletics Championships Rodney in three four Canada twice a global medalist in the fall by one in Beijing and Rio picked up the bronze the tardy center of your picture there in the blue for Liberia don't he on both Kenya next to him [Music] so a good start from the Kenyan and now the tardy coming into his running rodney was away a little slowly but he's now running well machardie takes it Rodney is their home here Kenya also brought a quite smoothly Rodney we'll need to work on his start come the first round proper from the three big names safely through from our first action while Matadi there look very slow to forgive me but these first rounds were to give these athletes bit with charts to get into the atmosphere of these games then get used to the starter and get used to the track here he was he got a very slow start he's a big man that's the same as you say Bob he gets into you stride toward the end on the outside of him of Yahveh also running well and Rodney coming through those three really clear and they were the clear favorites in that race while alongside us over the next 10 days I'm Rob Walker steve-o vet and Katherine Mary both very much looking forward to what will unfold over the next week in a bit and Katherine machardie who used to represent the United States an absolutely huge fan he's built like Harry Aikens and Ricci of Great Britain I didn't think there was a bigger sprinter than Harry double-a there is and in the first track action is you say Rob finish there officially 10.27 and a big smile as well going through to the next round where the top ranked men will start their competition combination machardie taking that one from Brendan Rodney Odhiambo made it negative Cameroon will have to wait to see if he can go through as one of the fastest losers so we're mentioning about the first round prata 20 past 8 UK time there's the warm-up area here at the London Stadium and there's the familiar face of Usain Bolt coming up later in the heats or the quarterfinals as they're being called to the men's 100 meters for the Jamaican team is strong guys isn't it in this men's 100 meters back in form a former world champion Yohan Blake up there in the world rankings I was gonna say that's not rule out this mad he's in great shape he's a very fast start on the weaknesses in vaults Armour if there ever is one this man obviously wouldn't miss out on the chance of maybe dethroning the big man who wait let's wait and see well then the merit of the American Justin Gatlin he's been there and done it won the US Championships first three in their championships come towards these London World Championships that's their qualification and he won their trials so he'll be battling it out with the Jamaicans later on they go back now to this second round of the prelims it's a very fast been in this race really this is as Rob said just indicates the quality of the hundred meters because some of these men have run very close to ten seconds remember it's the first three and the two fastest of these losers to go through to the plenaries there's one of the big memory r farms really I mean as I hear bands used to be called oil instant bugs now running for turkey he's obviously the one to look out port is just coming up now for the start of this second of the preliminaries just panning around the back straight down into this lame draw there it is sansai eat then we bar up tomorrow bars I just went out running very fast is that the best time this year of to the 17 tomato Siobhan wash obviously the other one to watch I think his time at 10:17 very fast Dylan sick oboe and a Genki blankie just finishing off this second culinary fine [Music] Tanaka ceases bass 1198 don't think really he'll be up there when it comes to the crunch of this race but he's here he's enjoying the atmosphere there wonder the big bed really I mean as a fear Barnes as I said with some bars previously now running for Turkey a lot of transferring of athletes from one country to another at the moment we see that it's mainly in the 10,000 meters a bit later on can you move to rather just an outside of him to his right is Walsh from Antigua for Buddha and then lanky making up this next second totally habibi tease massive crowd here already really great atmosphere they've been warmed up had a great time all the dancing a lot of music going on and it's suddenly drained away as we get into this race I'm just looking at the scoreboard as if scoreboards either end of the state it really is a perfect venue for track and field to there they're away Bard's got a great start there in the middle and on these outside also on the side go well so it's a sad on the outside they're bars coming through very struggling a little sitting inside Walsh so those who really clear a winning time 1022 Wow and here's a fear Barnes look very comfortable it even so he should really one of the top men in that preliminary final it was a good run wasn't it Steve just outside his seasons best to ten point one seven [Music] but all the favorites so far looking very comfortable and as I said before I think it's a good opportunity for these athletes to get used to this track isn't it really well it's a good opportunity for a variety of reasons athletes that wouldn't normally qualify through two major championships because of small elations or various other reasons getting an opportunity to race here in London and as you say Steve some athletes not coming here in potentially their best form another round get used to the starter the warm-up area it's a wonderful opportunity there's a photo finish of that second heat it was a comfortable win in the end wasn't it for Barnes but as you say as expected in Lane number for him and Walsh the two fastest in that second prelim 100 also I think it got to find out the conditions not as that perfect for sprinting at the moment it is quite chilly not as hot as that we were told the forecast was gonna be for the start of these games but having said that they've got to get used to it the wind conditions also down the tracks like maybe not as bad as it is it's blowing a little bit outside but there it is plus point 1 1 so yeah there is a bit of a headwind down there so two of the four prelim races on the way but also a tasty 1500 Rob Walker you said in your introduction potentially one of the most competitive events in this world championships and it definitely is with Jen Zubaydah Barbara in the mix to bother world-class she's the world record holder and what about the British contingent it's going to be tough for Laura Muir a lot of Britain's felt as though she was a real standout favourite for gold after the European indoor double she is a great athlete but it's going to be tough to get on the podium in the 15 it really is yeah I'd agree with that one of the toughest races in the calendar but they've got the heats tonight semi finals tomorrow and then the final so that's gonna be tough for these athletes three big races but Christie just looking on there one of your old friends I think okay yes he coached me to an Olympic medal so his jokes weren't the best I could probably she was laughing at his own joke there but he's a very good coach and he's looking for these hundred meters later as we all are aren't we so we've got two of the prelim heats down which means very shortly we'll have a cup of water at the prelim 100 meters but you mentioned the crowd I don't think there's barely a seat guys in the house on this opening night it's absolutely packed out which is brilliant the discus throws are out the first qualifying group in the men's district will start in six minutes the long jumpers are out and the female pole vaulters so it's an absolute hive of action already it is absolutely superb to see so many people here on the first evening we were told the ticket sales were good and the numbers here would indicate that is absolutely right somewhere in the region of 700,000 tickets sold across the 10 days have even been people selling Usain Bolt's scarves on the way to the stadium and I'm sure there were a few Union Jack's for sale as well it's a cracking backdrop for the drama that will unfold over the next 10 days heat number three in the men's 100 memory round there is your lineup from lanes to two eight fastest in the field yeah and volcko at the Slovak Republic in lane number three so they've warmed up on the warm-up track we've shown you a couple of shots of that so far it's nice and close the warm-up track here in London not a far distance for the athletes to travel [Music] there's Golani Saeed Golani of Afghanistan who's the Afghan record holder in six events including the decathlon but watching this event the 100-meter the 21 year old the youngest in the field 17 years old from the Solomon Islands tall man you Kenny 11.5 2 seconds this season and on the outside Abdullah Abdullah Hamid of Saudi Arabia from 10.04 seconds last year to break the Saudi Arabian 100-meter record as a junior so still 20 years old 1022 eight seconds this season so Heat number three then in the men's 100 the first three in the next two fastest qualify for the quarterfinals at twenty past eight UK time it's in some decent running couple erases one in ten point two seconds Mohammed in lane number eight 10:04 at his best as I mentioned but ten point two eight this season but the fastest man in this world championship year is in lane number three volcko of the slovak republic so another clean start and a good start my Golani but he's been overtaken at the moment by volcko in lane number three the fast turnover of the twenty-year-old leaning for the line nice and early well ten point one six seconds that would equal his lifetime best that he said this year it was a good run by the fastest in the field the slow back record-holder brought over the one and two hundred meter distance good running and capturing the crowd responding because it's been rounded down by a hundred and he has broken his own national record v Slovakian he has indeed brought his top form here and a lot of people are saying this track is still very very fast and that would give us a good indication second from the right hand side he he got it where it got away well added the Bohemian actually Mario Burk in the center of picture with Mohammed coming through late for the third spot those two given exactly the same time but what a run by volcko a new national record in the prelims yeah he's got a very slow sort of rhythm and very fast leg carriage but tough yeah that's a good performance as you said Robbie all goes well it means that the track is still fast Iran they're running fast times there's no question about that whether the other athletes would do the same when it comes to the first round of the heat improper in a minute little later the senior will see then what sort of performance they produce bodes well though right doesn't 1:5 therefrom volcko getting himself into the first round proper the quarterfinals later good example that was a good sprinting because he's taken advantage of a preliminary round have broken a national record in decent conditions so good running now in the third of the four prelims and we'll see him later [Music] confirmation then volcko and our national record you'll be back later along with burke and mohammed to finals so we've mentioned the field event action that's happening here this evening here's you start list for qualification group a in the men's discus throw sixteen athletes do to line up the final is tomorrow at 7:25 p.m. local time but in this qualification group a alone we've got the defending champion there's the name of point o Malachowski from poland the three-time world champion robert Harting of Germany and the world leader Daniel star of Sweden fully loaded qualification groups automatic qualification 64 meters and 50 for the top 12 positions basically throw over 64 meters and 50 and you're back for the final tomorrow evening 12 athletes don't do that over the two pools then the top 12 will be taping so her daddy of Iran will open the men's discus throw these World Championships here in London 64 litres and 54 this season throw nearly 70 meters back in 2008 but he moves the stadium well because he won London Olympic silver here in 2012 so he'll be looking for a little bigger that London magic that he had five years ago so the first throw in this qualification group a vacation group B incidentally starts at 8:45 local time job well is giving it a yell you see the big lines on your screen the Q is the automatic qualifying line of 64 meters and 50 and then the various other lines putting out some markers and letting you know the relevance of how far these guys are throwing [Music] not to fuss opens with 63 meters and three centimeters edit kadai of the Netherlands now he's four times the dutch champion close to 65 meters this season also was at those London Olympic Games here was 10th in the discus competition so first round for today well drops below the 60 meter line [Music] should be a hotly contested eventless at the World Championships I mentioned in the lead up in this group Daniel she doll who's next to throat the world leader Swedish athlete in super forum this year but today 58 meters and 19 plenty of field events action coming throughout the evening now to the last of the preliminary rounds in the men's 100 meters get ins Miller and Fraser in three five and six are the fast men here [Music] remember the first three go through automatically plus there are still two fastest loser spots currently occupied by Palacios of Honduras with 1073 and BRE bar vietnam 1076 scott james PT federated states of micronesia semi-finalists in the Oceania champs earlier this year but he'll struggle to make it through here because he's torn alongside Ramon Gittings world indoor bronze medalist last year pan american silver as well 10:16 as you can see this season carried the flag in Rio last year for his island win who are off Palau semi-finalists in Oceania Junior Championships a couple of years ago still just a teenager Joseph Miller PB form this year for New Zealand 10:18 Warren Fraser outside here in Bahamas but Anne Bach of Cameroon in seven and riffy an of Comoros on the outside in eight but the three fastest men here Gittins of Barbados in three Miller New Zealand five Fraser the farmers in six [Music] Cunnane with identical seasons bests 10:18 for both kittens PB over in 3 is 1002 that year-old has been around a while second from the right hand side with that familiar blue short yellow vest outfit last chance to join the big men in the first round proper [Applause] gichan's has got away well and villa has a little bit to do to make up the ground on fraser these three miles clear off the rest Miller coming back into his running kittens for Miller and Fraser 1026 the following wind the man from Barbados making absolutely certain he's in the mix to get involved with the likes of bolt and Gatlin in the first round round it down to 1025 good running by the New Zealand during the ends to come through automatically as well it went to the forum book didn't it lanes three five and six we're clear on times by some 3/10 of a second on paper coming into this fourth and final prelim round getting's head down driving hard looking to gain some momentum all three of those guys there were a hundred percent leave me there clearly all through but again taking advantage potentially looking to get a good time and in half decent conditions so went to the forum but we'll see all three of those guys later they'll go and have a little rest even come back again at twenty past eight in the UK time I think they're definitely will get another classic sixty metres indoor performance there he got a great start blitzed it to sixty meters and they all started coming back at him there Miller and Trey's up almost caught him at the lip at the line but he was a great start got that meter or so and the rest of the other athletes but wait to see what happens when it comes to that as Rob said the big men a bit later in the evening Ramon gichan's Joseph Miller and Warren Fraser are all in the first round proper and so too by my reckoning Griffey an and but Andale I think those two took the two fastest loser spots so our first mini event is over but there's still so much to look forward to we've still got the men's qualification in the long jump the women go in the pole vault and we've got the women's qualification in the 1500 as well so here's a confirmation of who made it through to the first round proper volcko top of the leaderboard there with a national record excellent run by him shaving a hundred of his lifetime best Brendan Rodney 10:37 he also made short and riffey Anna Burton booked did indeed take the fastest loser spots they will all be returning in around about 54 min it's time to take on the big voice and they'll be going back to the area the warm-up shots there you go again those the three guys we mentioned earlier it will potentially be battling out for the medals once again here at London these World Championships so they're starting their warmup the athletes we've just seen taking part in the prelims well they're going up back to the area they're in the warm-up they'll take over and haven't got long because in track and field you've got to get to the the call room and then come out onto the track so from the warm-up area to the discus this is the big man in form Daniel style of Sweden the 24 year old is in wonderful form this year is approaching the qualifying line but he's thrown 71 meters and 29 this Ceasar which sits him night on the all-time list in this men's discus it's a two kilogram discus four point four pounds 22 centimeters is the size of the 2 K discus and the world leader opens with the 61 meters of 83 so remember all athletes chasing the 64 meter and 50 automatic qualifying his Perales of Cyprus took Commonwealth Games silver in 2014 got a lot of experience a world an Olympic finalist [Applause] [Music] the throwers before in this a qualification route engineer the automatic qualifying line that's what the athletes try and do in the field events now a qualification line or distance or height get the job done and go back and rest up not quite though 63 meters and 36 Wrinkle of Jamaica rahmel again getting near the big queue and a big 64 meter 50 line he had an astonishing improvement from 59 meters in 83 to 67 meters and 12 in his first year as a senior athlete in 2012 but now 25 looking to get back to that form he's a 65 lead to throw at this season if you could do that you'd be automatically through first tenth 63 meters in 23 sipping Hassan one of the names who will undoubtedly feature you would suspect in the 1500 meter final and we've mentioned this before Steve the women's 15 is potentially one of the most competitive races over the next 10 days yeah for some reason or other you get years where the athletes are running exceptionally well it is the women's 5000 meters this year luckily for the athletes I think they've got a very easy qualification in the first round first six go through so really no tension there they've just got to do the job go through as easy as possible to the semi-finals tomorrow a lovely evening in London look at that absolutely beautiful there's a chance of rain earlier it looks like us at the moment Rob so that's good that's what we like yes I did think B we were going to receive the heavens finest but the skies have cleared and we've got a fabulous opening night here in the Olympic Stadium faceting of Austria ground number one in the men's discus or manages to keep himself in the circle we're still waiting for our first automatic qualifier it will come very close aren't they six at the Rio Olympics last year he's inside the world top 10 this season the Austrian throne a 66 meters and 52 look at that the control to stay inside the circle got to keep every part of your body in 63 meters and 57 puts them into the lead in qualification a long job there's group a and the one to watch really is Ludo the younger who's just produce a massive jump this year the Commonwealth record holder now with that 865 just once said to me - behind the Olympic champion who goes in the next B group Jeffrey Henderson but it's gonna be a fascinating competition there's really some very good athletes here coming in to form at the right time well a British point of view they're disappointed that Greg Rutherford won't be taking part with an injury this season but he's around in the broadcast booth giving his expert opinion so the competition and the fans may miss Greg Rutherford but again another really a really hard event to call here at these World Championship interesting things that even three of the Chinese are coming in to form at the moment the Wang XI and wagging they're in great shape so it could be anybody really but I think obviously this is their favorite it's got to be this man in South Africa Miryang gap qualification there eight meters Oh five or top 12s and I think a lot of guys who go over that 8:05 quite easily so we'll wait and see man Yaga could be one of the stories on the next ten days at that 860 plus John was absolutely superb earlier this season the action continues on the track now with the first of three opening round encounters in the women's 1500 as Steve was saying it's fairly generous qualification here per 6+6 fastest losers into tomorrow semies ready for the final on Monday the father is the world record holder he goes in this one as the defending champion as well Olympic silver last year losing out to faith kPa gan another interesting name there you'll be used to seeing the name caster Semenya in 800 meter starting lineups she's decided to do the 15 here which is interesting because it's the longer distance first Steve certainly years Wendy doesn't quite forward this year over the distance so it's it is surprising but you must under estimate a Rob she could produce up especially if it's a slow race and that's where she comes into a row drilling again on the outside european bronze medalist last year and work who Sifuentes and then conservador father double World Indoor champion over 3,000 meters world-record holder the bending champion here an Olympic silver medalist Kate grace Turek has run well for Serbia and then whinny Chipettes second in the Kenyan trials for fastest in the world this year with that 359 16 she will expect to progress smoothly don't forget about a Raffi Zoe Buckman's running well Perez of Spain and then caster Semenya four times a global champion over 800 meters 401 happy the last year over the 15 mile slower than that this year but as Steve was saying that may count for nothing and we can expect a good reaction from the crowd here for the great gesture working scientist over 8 back in 2012 and now coming back to some good form after some lean years by her own high standards as a junior first Briton taking to the track this evening here we go then first of the three heats in the women's 15-hundred [Music] so just a reminder here it's the first six who progress as of right and the very familiar stride and style of gestured going straight to the front with caster Semenya sucked into the curb just behind a zoe putnam on the south africans shoulder now moving into second place and it really will be interesting to see how some Enya goes near steep how surprised were you when you saw her name on the start sheet for this race yeah she hasn't shown any form at all this year which is very strange but i'm good to see that jad is going out in front here because this is the sort of thing you don't get involved and then even messing up that goes on behind in a slow race and it's the first six to qualify so she just eases us out through and takes it easy you'll see that the rest of the efforts behind are bunching up a little bit that could cause problems but it is only six to go through and there's about 12 athletes so half the fields got a big cut Rob sensible running here from gestured as he said just to make sure it's a relatively honest pace what are they going through in 64 plus change so a solid first lap there from Jess Chuck Buckman in second Sifuentes moving through into third and Kate Grace a good athlete semenya steve drifting way back into the plaque which is not good science for her as you know who to barber comes up here and absorbers moving so well she's got a good tactical head and that's just what she needed to do keep out of trouble just let everybody else to do what they have to do and just smoothly come around everybody you can see some Enya doesn't really know what to do in this type of race because it's a lot slower than she's used to running and that means that track she's keeping us dry a little bit and all the other athletes at the moment are keeping her on the inside the jug also did a great job here but one just behind circle entries they're in third so the pace is pretty good just beginning to stretch out a little bit ends up in a barber in third place coming up onto the shoulder of Zoe Buckland gestured still happy to leave here the other Ethiopian panting were cou moving through the field as well she's now passed Sifuentes and is behind two barber in fourth but this is good running so far from gesture 2:11 there was a little slower on that second lap which might suggest why they were starting to bunch up just a little bit but now Jud beginning to accelerate once more and this is not looking too good at the moment for caster Semenya although she still is just about in touch at the back of that big group well Judds done a great job here because this seed to Barber they're just moving smoothly in the second place but then there and here comes caster Semenya obviously realizing she's too far at the bat she's just switching herself around everybody else Harding herself in readiness she's only got to get in the first six and she's playing a good game here gestured has led right from the start as I said coming back to good form they take the bell down in this first heat of the women's 1500 meters it's Great Britain's Jess jump in the lead but she has conservador barber behind her the defending champion the world record holder zoe Buckman's held good place all throughout this race as Kate brace starts to make a move and semenya putting herself in a position to qualify but just done so much you hope that you can hang on here but you can sense the fact that some of the others are coming up dad is looking up at the scoreboard just to see where everybody else is she just got to keep going and she should be okay Department it's very comfortable Samir coming up in third place gestured inside the last 200 meters she is the first Briton in action on the track and my goodness me is she getting a great reception so then years up behind gets a bit of barbering fur just nudges whinny - bet who's coming up on the outside remember it's six to make it crew automatically this has been a good run from Jess judge he is tiring a fraction look against Aveda bother to bother going well it's Oscar off Poland has come through really nicely as well so the bother takes it from caster Semenya Winnie chebet gets there so - hiccups gets so 2 gestured and it might have been a Raffi of Morocco who got in the mix for the top 6 as well but after an honest pace from Jess judge the class came to the fore leg and Zebedee father looks so so smooth in qualification good time for 402 in qualifying is pretty good and judge did all the work there to get that she finished fit that was a great performance from her I think but class as you said will come out she looks good - Bubba semenya though again looking so strong over that last lap well I think Jess judge should be really proud of the way she ran that race because she really gave herself the best possible chance of Steve and the crowd have just responded because they've seen on the scoreboard that on either end of the stadium that gestured has been confirmed as having qualified and it was indeed a rafi of morocco who also came up to make it in that top six good running and semenya well seasons best what was it for 16 not anymore on row 2 + change a bit considerable margin of improvement from Semenya and that's got to worry the other athletes i think they were watching this perhaps in the warm-up zone look the way she just comes through here she's got so much power and if it's the slow race then really everybody else in this race including de barbarac could be in trouble in that farm [Applause] just built so differently she's so powerful Semenya they're just on the right of picture as opposed to conservative father it's watching because every hit the barber was just watching she wasn't really in the in top gear she's just looking around checking everybody she knew she had the race under control so many of though I think also knew that she had a perhaps another gear as she had to really Chuck did so well she really did and a PV from gestured as well to get herself up into the top six win each a bet a tiny figure in comparison to some Enya on her inside and Hickok go I know you've been making mention of her steam European champion over the 15 she won the Rebeck Diamond League the Polish athlete and she looks pretty smooth there in a roundabout fifth place just on the left of picture there yeah I think it's getting through heats is the matter of technically being correct and some of these athletes did exactly that well yetsko always is very very good at getting herself at the right place right on she know she's qualified she's easing down there she baby they're just also running well but these are the two class athletes you can see that we could see some many just looking at de Barber weighing her up moving slightly inching towards Addie barber knows that she's on her shoulder but she's still controlling it great great indication of what's to come I think later on Kenzie made a bother and caster Semenya very smoothing qualification chebet he coached her a rafi and gestured takes the last automatic spot with a lifetime best shows you how good that race was working with a PB in 405 no place for her in the semis men's discus qualification group a continues Malachowski of poland one of the big guns looking to go over the automatic qualifying of 64 meters and 50 nobody's done it yet but he's the defending champion the Polish athlete oh that's good flight [Applause] well the crowd cheer because now someone's gone over the automatic qualifier that's how you do it first throwing qualifying done and dusted backed packed back to the athletes hotel he'll come back for the final tomorrow night twice the European champion twice the Olympic silver medal a silver medalist the auctioned off his second Olympic silver medal for charity 65 meters and 13 pole position q automatic qualifying Robert hearting three times a world champion opens his account I already follow suit the battles that Harting a Malachowski have had over the years in this discus throw between them only Malachowski in hearting or they've won the last four world titles Olympic champion as well that's what he wanted to do 65 meters and 3200 Matic qualifying for Robert parting of Germany well here's the big man in the long jump man younger just broken the Commonwealth record if ever there's a favorite assist man he's in superb for Wow well that's the qualifying line there 8:05 and I think us safely say not his best jump but he sailed over that to qualify that's what he's got to do yeah happy man it's definitely just gonna get the qualifier out of the way you just then relax go back prepare yourself for what really is the main event just missed out on the Olympic gold by a centimeter to Geoffrey Henderson so Henderson going in the group beat of the long jump these two really I suppose getting their rivalry back again he was looking wasn't he at the distance boards I think I look at this look at this little glass to the left there's eight meters there we go a little bit more extension but look at the height and the speed he generates I think he knows this is just qualification this is just the matter go five there it is 8:12 easy easy for this man well our field of enters are doing what they need to do automatic qualifiers now in this men's discus and in the long jump and Daniel style from Sweden he'll be looking to join malinovski and hearty oh he likes that one the flights better oh yes normal service resumed that's better he says fifth at the World Championships back in 2015 and as I mentioned now six inside the world all-time top ten in ninth place with 71 meters and 29 67 meters and 64 automatic qualifying done the feds just didn't ask for a bit of Silas because now we come to the second heat of the woman's 15 other heaters as we said before first six and the sixth fastest through two semi-finalists tomorrow Jennifer Simpson that's on Jennifer Simpson they're from the USA I think one of the top athletes 3:16 and she's a silver medal at the World Championships in 2013 nor of Europe correct Britain should be one of the local favorites obviously to do very well here it's also stuffiness and of nous devons and we saw warming up coming through so it's pretty comfortable really and third in Morocco third in Monte Carlo so she's in great shape [Applause] she found a side there she is we saw her just coming through didn't we in the Walmart area World Indoor champion at the 5000 meters she won the perish Diamond League and when she beat faithful Diego another one of the big favorites in this 5000 meters in the women's it's great feel this year really is we keep saying it but I don't think I've ever seen the depth that we've got this year in this particular event and there's Jenny 16 the Olympic bronze medalist a great tactician this woman she isn't always in the right place at the right time the American champion fourth times at that as well there we go back in Lane one Freitas of Portugal which is the collegiate champion of America so obviously another great athlete to watch big field so it was no Falls we saw fast paced set in that first heat 402 so they know what they've got to do now they know that they've got up the pace going so they're gratefully inside 15 women now just six places to go through just on the inside that making it fast me but as I said from the inside its rates as it Portugal she knows that really she's a small woman she's already got a keep away from that the problems that could cause just behind she's held the inside line hasn't she from her starting position Jenny Simpson tips are always east in the right place dad she's a she moves well I mean you can't be the four-time American champion and went as many medals as she's done up automated chariots if you haven't got a good Brian no she's a fierce competitor Jenny Simpson sitting in second she's trying to be the only the second woman in World Championship history to win three World Championship medals in this event and she say Steve she's been there and done it before and sitting on the shoulder of freight ass now then halls in the mix read Paul's a good athlete churches are Australian that's improved tremendously over the last year got a time delving up for wider she's always good at getting into the right rhythm of a race but she can run fast she's got a great finisher but she could run fast and I think she knows now that this place is pretty respectable and act dad coming through there on the outside also wonder once to watch transferring from Kenya yet again she was JEP curry Mayo Britten's Laura Miura at the moment three from the back in the secondly taking it easy though yeah you can saw before didn't the sommelier taking it easy Laura though I think there's going to be a bit careful because some of these athletes are pretty fast over the last lap she is a long stride ish coming round now I think she realizes she's got to get herself out of province to take a vote just coming and tracking up another one to watch in this race Paul just being closed in I think here the Australian rates are still trying to hold on she's being pushed and shoved a bit as sips it comes through Simpson's taking control of this and right at the back of the field he's have sat at the moment in the orange of the Netherlands so she's comfortably sitting off the pace the world leader while this is a bit slower than that first thing I think you see that brother Frank they're all bunching now it's going to come down to a pretty fast tart last part the race the last 600 meters anyway so they coming through now taking it up the Ethiopia world indoor bronze becomi meters third in the Palestine balloon she realizes at this pace is slow you can see the injection of speed as strong out this field in this either little bit more but the big players are in the mixer Sam's gonna make her move at any moment because she's at the back of this pack at the moment and the bells going to go with 400 meters to go remember it's the first six and then the next six fastest over these heats to go to the semi-final when it comes her side she's moving good she's leaving it light and as he's gonna be fast cuz that guy's leading him through now Muir obviously in the right place Baghdad there since it just caught on the inside and being box that they're coming through on the outside also looking good but look at the bunching going on here and remember it's just six to come through there's gonna be a lot of worried athletes coming down this back straight row about coming through Muir just holding her up back and sad look it up she's struggling a little bit but she is coming through on the outside you're looking good the bricks holding them off when it come to the other home straight now it's going to be close Italian is let's looking through at the moment me roasting them inside there Simpson just in late and three coming on the outside and sad is looking as if she's going to come through to win it and I think she may do the others are just holding off it's the first six it's gonna be close as sad as coming through and I think she's just gonna get it in the end Wow it's a pretty fast last four hundred meters the suburbs athletes will be disappointed because they really left it too late sad though did everything she had to do she came to him fast over the last forty things but even she Rin didn't have comfortably throughout the whole of the race what an interesting qualifying in that women's 15-hundred meter neatly look at the finishing time as well a 408 compare it to the first heat of a 402 so we're not gonna get any potential non fastest losses from that team though which is a surprise when as you said at the beginning of the race Steve you know what you have to do but the big players were there her sound just got herself in the mix didn't she when she knew she needed to but Laura Muir looked in control as well but keep an eye there on the world leader Hassan in many people's minds she could potentially be the favorite for this world title but you could throw a blanket as we say in England over the first group there couldn't we were just the six going through a real burn up would have to wait to see what sort of positions that give these athletes here but at the end really it was so so close I mean somebody that beats are going to be disappointed behind because they're really they've less left out we saw the first heat they knew it was fast the second heat slowed right down say gay on the inside they lost out a little bit in the end a car we coming through on the inside the or then very strong she knew she had the race under control Simpson also wrote very well she's one to watch I think really flying coming on the outside and ass and though really she did everything she had to do but she made it hard work for a surf I think yep there's your photo finish it was flying the German who's picked up the six automatic qualifying spot just over 409 really hard to read into when they run heats like that Rob isn't it because you don't know how much Hassan needed to do how much you want to do how much she did do yeah I mean it is it is hard to tell she did just enough by the way there was a little clash there between her sand and grove doll and i think that may well cost grove Darla's place in the semi-finals because she's finished seventh there with 409 56 the norwegian had put herself in a good position there but there was a clash between the two of them has sang pushed on but that was the point at which the norwegian lost her place in the first six but look at that they're going across the line it's the 15 meters they're gonna cross the line like it's a sprint race dipping for the line all because they're not sure if there's anybody else coming up fast well there it is confirmation of sands victory very slow time compared to the first heat of 408 89 and Simpson singing newer car we and Cline they're the ones that go through by right I don't think any of the others really it will go through I don't think so at all so from the track back into the field Mason Finlay of the USA round number 202 with a 63 meters and 98 remember automatic qualifying 64 meters and 50 he has that in his locker he's done a 65 meters and 48 this season Olympic finalist last year [Music] okay just a little bit past the yellow line with the big cube for automatic qualifying twice the u.s. champion including this year in the World Championship year twenty six-year-old through here just a few weeks ago came 7-foot the London Diamond League 64 meters and 76 automatically qualifies [Applause] Darien Lawson Bell from the United States in the long jump after that qualifying distance of 805 yes champion sees his best dog back 8:22 so a certain is going to get it but it's have a look oh that's a good job yeah I think it's just about there you look set the mark in the sand white flag goes up comforting that really looking again still not sure and I think slowed a little bit into the board but really terrific height yet again there's a long way back there you are confirmation 18 centimeters back from the plasticine great height well there is a no to so well just a little bit shy that qualified you have to do maybe just one more jump he is capable coming over that tough just it's fairly easily Taniya some sweet vessel burst of 844 sees the best 8:30 bastard to the board nothing on close to that qualifying really for that lovely Olympics missing bronze by just one centimeter very rangy very along striding into the board he's done an 8 meters and 30 this season hasn't he Steve and look at that perfect on the board in his old style baggy shorts he's gonna look for that that distance is well within his come to us isn't it just overlooked yeah just snatched it I know five 8:07 well you don't do it by much but you just have to do it just cut the check the topic check the record hold a good performance on the season's best of eight twenty nine so see what he can do now in the qualifying rounds what flag goes up and he's close they all want the back casually look down up they don't stare at it they're just candidly look down it's gonna increase they don't stare at it but it won't I'm afraid there you go perfect really on the board I think half of its a look of fear they don't want to close the in case it makes the officials look too closely at cool of course it was a solid job but again such height generated the new Czech record holder all yeah not quite is it but just got this guy have to do it again I don't one so action in the field continues but so do the heats in the woman's 1,500 meters and there is your line up Great Britain's Laura Weightman in this one as his faith to keep the AEGON of Kenya and plus the Halfin of Germany just some of the big names look out for remember the first six and the next six fastest go to the water semi-finals another 24 year-old UK Indoor champion this year she'll start on the outside another big lineup 15 athletes Jew in this third heat of the women's 1500 meters but there is the tall figure the constants cost the health of Germany the world number five this year twenty years old gymnast quickest run up a couple of decades second British athlete in this field Laura Weidman two successive Olympic finals at 1500 meters the coach Steve Cram ran in three weeks in this third and final heat and there's the big name faith keep yet on the Olympic champion the Commonwealth champion in the world number two this year so the third and final heated is women's 1500 meters we've seen the likes of de Barber Muir pass on the AEGON from starting position number three number two this year looking to get in the top six to qualify for those semi finals tomorrow so Steve oh vet these guys definitely know what they need to do in the third and final Heat are we expecting a fast pace if they've got any sense well if they've got any sense yes I mean they would go as hard as they possibly could for as long as they possibly could because that way you get six through by right and then another six to go through so that means you only need three out of that particular field but don't make it so yes the sense would be that but sometimes I'm afraid a little distance and I've done as good as any sense do not this sense does not coming too you see the long ponytail of the German stock dropped a half 3:59 third - this season six women have run sub four minutes in this 2017 season so far hence us hearing commentary saying it is so competitive funny Oh from Colombia though she's happy to hold the inside line yes I don't think ano really is gonna be a danger she's only got a time maybe this year which probably is a top 20 or 30 but she's doing the best she can scrap it just behind her hang it on there moving on to the inside so it's at the moment taking reasonable place but it's not gonna don't keep me as fast as that first heat which i think is important they've got to realize that they'll see the time as they go through and it'll obviously register that they're not doing as fast as those two so there'll be a bit of panic going on maybe at the back of the field not so much at the front so come on yo leading the way for Albert the two British athletes in good positions at the moment when Kip yeh gone though faith kPa gone making her little move now on to the shoulder in fifth place getting yourself into a good position to say though the Ethiopian moves round on the outside wait man they're also looking well she's very tall the British athlete just in the middle of that tack she's trained by as I said Steve parent manda that's all she has to do at the moment just keep where she is to be a god no looking very comforting through the moment that tastes not that fast and I think because of that you see that's the house that coming through from Gerry and keeping the pace going she doesn't look as if she's a very fast sprint up she's very proud I think that she's got the strength of it to keep this pace going she's one of these young stars in world athletics is tossed a how often I mentioned just 20 years old was second in the World Indoor Championships behind great quickness Laura meal this season she put a little bit of an injection of place down the back straight here Steve she's strong this field out in the final Heat they've moved they're not only it's not it's not exactly an exhilaration it's almost like that increased slow but sure over that lap and she's really hot started stinking about Dickie I got to go with although every move she made she went with her so really one of the big names just keeping up there at the bow so the world number five leading the world number two the Olympic champion faith to Kagan in second they're gonna come round to the bow remember the top six will get a place in the semi-finals tomorrow so just behind them they're also stringing out now bout it just behind her wait man I think in here to place it around it in danger maybe if she doesn't keep moving well I'm moving that to losing that all-important one of the six places to go through so keep yeag on takes up the lead say those trying to come past off the housing barters their weight when in fifth 200 meters to go in the final heat of this women's 1500 meters semi finals tomorrow the final that is the last event of the program on Monday night and kick the AEGON faith keep yeag on the olympic champion looking up at the big screen leading through barter of Sweden in second say those currently in third what the building or she's trying to hang on Laura Wakeman is trying to make sure she gets in the top six position as well officially for round 3 point 1 is the Olympic champion in the books her place in the semi-finals tomorrow good run - you really did that everything she had to do there look very comfortable yay God just started to sort of move up there when cluster Halpin decided to move over the last sort of 800 meters or so that's all she had to do just see her they're looking very comfortable really she stretched the field out that's good by doing that I think we may get some of the qualifiers from this third heat through to that semi-final tomorrow in are we a polling finish like an absolute train to come through in third place they're just crossing the line in the white vest of poland's key Aegon one of the many names that we've got in the Hat here to potentially take this women's 1500 meter title looking up at the screen a slight glance to her right you see did you say you just saw that the figure armor I know he comes through wait and also I think on the inside there was pretty good she came through very comfy her as well and the early leaders lost her health and the German finished in 6th place in that final heat so booking her place in the semi-finals of the 1500 meters so they didn't disappoint all the big names are through including this athlete 356 41 in the best last year faith get the AEGON of Kenya the Olympic champion books her spot in the women's 15-hundred meter semi finals for tomorrow as does Laura Weightman behind up with her fourth place finish so confirmation six big queues led by Kip jaegeun of Kenya through to the women's 15-hundred meter semi-final but running as well wasn't there by stafford born and Sarah MacDonald recording personal bests in seventh eighth and ninth [Music] those three athletes should in fact go through as fastest losers so one or two did make it through from that birdie but what a competitive set of semi-finals we have in prospect in that woman's 15 it really will be a gripping climax on Monday night those who make it through to the big showdown plenty of drama still to come here in the Olympic Stadium got the first round proper of the men's hundred 100 meters not too far away we've got the qualification for the men's long jumper men's discus going on in the women's pole vault in the early stages of qualification as well and then 20 past 9 local times about one hour 10 minutes time the big man mo farah steps on to the track for the very last time over 10,000 meters there's a list of the qualifiers then call the women's 15-hundred how on earth do you pick a winner from that Steve I mean it's where you wait there's a final that actually there's things about doing that's so difficult otherwise - Barbour Semenya keeping a gun on you can picture bet even you can pick maybe three or four out of that top six it could easily easily won it on their own six fastest losses there Sarah McDonald did indeed with a lifetime vest just get the last of those spots Hannah Klein's going through with 409 Jenny Simpson she's got that wily head and all that experience her Santoro eighty nine more of your also there as well you know all the top athletes went through fairly company as they should do is sixty Paulo fire at those Heat yeah those semi finals tomorrow then I think we're gonna see like we do most events isn't when the springs events the semi-finals then we'll see the real form and pace of some of the runners and riders back to the long jump now massive of Cuba but a big thirst for best there eight thirty three and the usual stats to start nice to get really down in the sprint position here he comes he's a big man a lot of speed oh that's that's well clear that qualifying that really is this probably the best one we've seen so far you'll have a look that I'll be pretty sure it's good well clear for former world youth and judo champion still a junior really issues at 18 years of age that's perfect on the board look at that any clothes that have been a proud very fast lot of power and a lot of distance in the end [Music] there it is 8:50 well big jump mein Kampf it's one of these athletes competing now given permission by the Federation to compete with Russia oh that's another big job so they're coming thick and fast now really Caesars best of tape 32 men cough sleep with a broom on the board too just waitin sweet [Applause] from the world in go champion stonkingly [Applause] 2013 I don't send ya so there you go oh that's not nice shouldn't be true they've got to be picked up because he's running air so competing independently at this gate milonov from Belgium men's discus qualification group a continues [Applause] from world silver a couple of years ago European silver - in 2016 [Applause] the world this year running his fingers through in half because that was a 6316 so no automatic qualifying 1/8 position and remember when you need the top 12 from those two groups of discus to make the men's final four automatic qualifiers there then there's confirmation start carting Malachowski and Finley they surpassed the qualifying standard the rest will have to wait until qualification Group B has done their three throws that's due to start in about twenty-five minutes times okay so we go back now this is Group B in the men's long jump Samurai oh that's a big jump that's probably the biggest job we've since so far in the competition second in the South African Championships obviously behind that massive jump of and younger this man is a real talent nice stuff look at bad he's a long way behind the board 18 cent 19th centimeters very fast very powerful they produced the best out of themselves these two at the South African Championships he done it needs to look at the score well that's a massive jump sure Seminole of the coaches are just there as well oh wow that's strange even for that was well over the qualifying he's questioning it really but see coach they're just saying maybe it wasn't it's still happy though he knows he's got a lot of room to improve but that's a lot better than I thought just kept the Czech Republic than 801 in the first round broke the Czech record this year so we know he's in good shape 8:29 that was he's just started to get into his rhythm here 8:05 is what he's looking for that looked a good qualified much the same as we saw previously but whitebait goes up very long very rangy athlete good height there's the qualifying line saw that blue mark in the sand to Guelph again perfect on the ball [Applause] typically in London really recent in the golden thing but that's a 24 yeah I thought it was a good jump so clearly very comfortable in terms of qualifying I'm just well we've seen the preliminary round in wins 100 metres and now we get to the first round proper there will be six seats and you know who goes in the very last new same bolt Julian Reyes he goes in the first of the heats and it's only three to qualify plus six fastest losers advancing into the semis well we're waxing lyrical about Usain Bolt's this guy knows what it takes to win a gold medal or two in this Stadium and how London will respond when he emerges Catherine for the last 10,000 meters of his career hard to believe was so close to the track element of his career coming to an end for the treble double isn't he 2013 2015 he won the five and the 10,000 meters he starts his campaign tonight over the 10,000 meters well you know what Catherine he has said that he's not in quite the form that he was two years ago is this a chance for the Kenyans to put him under pressure Jeffrey can't were all now shaking hands there is an absolute monster when he gets it right I have been privileged enough to watch all four of his global titles over the cross country twice and the half marathon twice maybe he could be the man to break British hearts meanwhile the long jump continues Lawson now on the runway on the runway now Lawson the American champion quite good enough in the first round to see what he could do now [Applause] oh that's gonna be close again his best is he-he's I'm like good look at that good hides he's got the height look anywhere near where he should be on the board left over another anxious wait until that score comes up well look at that he shakes his if he's done enough he's probably not very happy with the way things are else am i again second in the south at good championships I thought he'd got a great clearance in the first round I'm not sure I've obviously should put my specs on a bit more on it and I'm going in long jump big bag very fast it simply can do now it's over the poor single look now the white flag goes up that is a big jump got to be this time I'm sure I didn't isn't second time [Applause] oh it was close on the board a real surge though isn't there Steve this year for South Africa in the mayor's long jump in particular they're just delivering some really good performances well these two in particular yeah but one of these two could dominate this event if they really perform as well as it myself had been challenged it but yeah that was a massive jump really at the qualified he's very happy very relaxed - laughs yeah Wow this bank could really do very well indeed 97 91 and 767 in the first round but he is a an a real talent natural athlete this bad Australian has got a very very stage start it comes in bracelet enormous heart watch this look at that oh I think it's gone back past the 8 meters white flag goes up good look again get that photograph again look why your way back to me plasticine 23 centimeters for blood into a champion again no and irritants 784 disappointed really fella Pierre so we started with the prelims now it's the first round proper and in this first heat we get to see the fastest man in the world this year Chris Coleman of the United States Singh or Jade Givens third and need Jamaican Championships Matar D made it through qualifying and CJ green semi finalists here five years ago early 2012 incredible Jack Ali Harvey's got a great PB they're representing Turkey hasn't been quite that fast this season kitten's goes in six Reyes but handbook of Cameroon in eighth and what will Chris Coleman produce here the fastest man in the world this year at 9/8 too tight and tense against Gabon in the US champs Gatlin taking that one I think nine five two nine eight Coleman is a huge emerging talent absolutely brilliant force over 200 meters as well but a couple of sighs in that US Championships that he is vulnerable under pressure he is vastly less experience than the like saw Justin Gatlin but he should make very smooth passage here through to the semis first three will go through as of right Givens of Jamaica into green Antigua for common on the outside in nine could be tight for the minor places here common almost obscured there on the left-hand side but it is the American the fastest man in the world this year coming through Harvey going one in second place Coleman 1001 into a fractional headwind there that was good from the American as we said he was disappointed to finish second I think in the US Championships Harvey came through really well for the second spot there he's been given the nod at 10:13 but that was good from Chris Coleman yeah it somebody had to do really he had the unenviable position of being on the outside there but he came through well you say it was performers 1001 he's got to be pleased with that first race of the championship for him you see there he is on the on the I'm sorry on the far side closest to us just really edging your head there just at the end I think wrong at the head until the last maybe 20 meters or so very impressive from Harvey there Steve we said he's got a great PB of 992 incidentally it's green of Antigua who's been given the third automatic spot machardie of liberia and Ramon Gittings both on 1024 they'll have to wait to see if they can go through as one of the six fastest losers but remember that only equates to one per six heat as it were so it could be tight from Atari and gichan's no question there for Coleman he's through to the semi-finals right up to Harvey he actually accelerated about the 80 meter mark until the 1980 mark and then he slowed down that they slowed him down there who knows he's got it so he's got a little bit more they're ready but this man I think was comfortable as you said taking it fairly easy quick quick assessment from a world-class sprinter there Catherine as comfortable as you like with a nine eight two world lead wasn't it guys but it's when the semies come is when the finals come that's when we're going to see the potential metal of Christian Coleman but job done Christian Coleman is through to the semi-final so to Jack Hallie Harvey green of Antigua takes the third spot machardie and Gittings will have a long wait to see if they can make it through as fastest losers well yo Blake is just getting these tracks are off becomes in the second round world number two this year so we've seen the world leader so we'll see the second ranked athlete in the world said he doesn't want to be called the beast anymore so don't just call him yo okay Thank You Johanna we're back now to the long jump it's Marcus Dendy second the u.s. championships no champion endorsing 2016 or the Americans are not doing very well at all in this long job at the moment disappointing I mean I suppose you could say the conditions don't suit them but something some of the other avatar produces some great results here so it's not the wind and it's not the track just their performances just yeah lost a lot of speed over that last tour three strides interesting Steve that the Americans are struggling how many times in a major championship have we seen brilliant American long jumpers suddenly come up way short of their previous seasons bests it happens time and time again I did in 2012 as well didn't it we'll play got a bronze medal but that was behind Greg Rutherford and Mitchell watt of Australia he's been a few championships as you say Rob's Rob when they haven't delivered when they should but this is qualifying and like you say Steve it's go get it out of the way first this is full of Ireland it's really cutthroat this is this is she one of the good Chinese jumpers he's only got one last attempt after two files now oh and it's gonna be close the white flag goes up well we've got chief wang and away both three of these Chinese athletes are capable of tough to be qualifying he's looking down they're not happy maybe or is he I'm sure that's a dancer joy is just a bit worried about the state of clay he's happy I'm going with you let's have a look again not taking any chances on the board are they well he's at two no jumps and he's still waiting and same as we are to see what the actual result is to combine the fields isn't it Steve the top 12 but they want the 800 look at that he's left it to the last that he's just got it happy 8:05 you needed 806 a happy dance well well done she okay now we come to the second of the first round proper I suppose of the men's hundred meters a great yarn Blake goes in Lane nine the man to watch the Jamaica champion in the absence of his teammate obviously so we're going through now they've won ours dr. defeat event obviously is bacon that's the different I've cameras then sunny brown up to town based on 1005 this year so obviously one to watch Volkov he saw wrong so well in that first to be qualified very easy yeah obviously what are the other good Chinese athletes in this race the hundred meters Barnes to Sonny's outside remember here and we're so very well qualified they calendar Tobago and obviously the big I would save the Big Bang he's very small he's very fast at the blocks go had Blake big contingent supporting the Jamaican athletes obviously tonight because the big man is making his first appearance serious that later in the qualifying rounds there they are great to see them they come everywhere all over the world to support their team they really do massive tradition of track and field in Jamaica it really is [Music] tell me back to a lot of injuries Blake but great for this year sipping Brown Beamer Volker Yi Barnes calendar blank first three to qualify got a good start on the outside coasters are so to do sandy brown on the inside they're sunny brown one of our blanks got a lot to do here really sunny Browns going well just on the inside of that yeah and I think Drake may have just booked through in third trace a little bit upset really there sunny Brown look very good though didn't he well he did fair play executed his race personal best it's come through ours as well for the Japanese athlete ten point zero five seconds Japanese colleagues behind us in the commentary position enjoying that one but he was leading all the way really personal best great performance from him really sandy brown that's uh we got to do really in qualifying yep he got the job done yeah I'm Blake I'm not reading anything into this at the moment I just don't think he could be bothered really to do anything until about sixty meters he came through in the second place at ten point one three seconds once again well the wait till the semi-final of to see whether he's laboring or whether he was just taking it a little bit too easy we just don't know dude we don't know I muscled it but I would have been a bit worried if that was me in that position well look how much ground he has to make up here there's taking it easy and this taking it easy of course he knows he's the class in the field but he had to do at least 25 meters of work there because he was miles down at the start interesting tactic we will see won't we that's gonna be the interesting discussion going forward into the semi-finals but Sally Brown here fair play to him that was a very good run indeed a personal best performance he goes through automatically with Blake who's I of China there's confirmation to be top three well they have sunny route Blake and da coming through personal best from Sandro could run from him he must have thought he was gonna be up against it really but in the end come through very comfy to take that one meanwhile back in the long jump rang one of the good of the three Chinese jumpers struggling a little bit at the moment what can he do he's just saw his competitor Sarika Patrick go through with an 806 good up the sand bit rate quickly there really did beer doesn't break happy nor does either see no he looks disappointed some look again they had to take it very carefully don't they on their third jump doctor to get too close to that board and it cost him dearly sometimes this could be one of the topping going out here and he has yeah I do that on count back they've got to think about that you know there might it is the top 12 and if some of them don't do it then maybe they'll go back even to that sort of debt to go through Smith coming through now oh yes lip tuck is okay drag his hand a little bit there in the sand verbatim record holder 834 this year so another very good jump inform slightly suffering a little bit maybe two quick look No so we might have to go on count back I think with some of these jumpers just wait to see after the all the rounds are completed they bar forts of Jamaica 782 786 so far four times the Jamaican champion another one close surprise really these athletes all jumped over make 28 30 this year struggling a little bit qualifier 805 it's been a good year for long jump on the whole Steve I mean man younger I think his 862 or 865 was the best jump since Dwight Phillips back in 2009 so we really have seen an increase in standard and he's dragged some of the others with him but we haven't seen that from all of the athletes here tonight he knows - Dwight infinite sorry Steve the other night about the South African surgeons this year and he was like yeah I think these guys coming into the chaps could be the reap the real deal he's been very impressed with their improvement because there is coming in now again I don't think that's gonna do it Kassar is really I think somewhat back there well you know three no jumps so he's out look at that touching the plasticine another disappointment really for the Spaniard I think he knew it really when he hit the sand look at that even a school well the crowd I've had a first glimpse of Usain Bolt on the big screen as he makes his way to the core room as Rob mentioned earlier he'll start in the sixth and final heat of this first round proper of the men's 100 meters looking to have a golden curtain and the big celebration here in London and he calls time on his track career so heat three of the men's 100 meters DNS does not start Andre de Grasse of Canada and he picked up this week for the Olympic bronze medalist won't start in lane number 9 really does open up some of the medals in this men's 100 meters with his removal but Sabini in lane number five from South Africa the world number three this year so he's going to get a big bro this young man three straight caught a break roots in Northern Ireland UK champion 1009 this season the biggest stage of his career Knicks Wilson with the switz London 3 altered Jamaica but this athlete who was fifth in Rio last year in lane number five the world number three nine point nine two seconds butter altitude and who's fastest non amplitude time is nine point nine nine seconds in lane number six top ten seconds this season an Olympic finalist for the library coast and Yusef may take six the Burt sweep from the Maldives their national record holder there on the outside now in lane number eight so heat number three first round proper the first three in each of these heats because the next fastest the next six fastest of parts to the semi-finals convene iike nine point eight nine seconds at his best and nine point nine two this season lane number five in heat number three there he is in the orange and agree I think he's had a good season he has indeed very much so and it's in beam eight the South African I mentioned all these times have been an altitude at the world number three time of nine point nine two and his best non-automatic in terms of non altitude was nine ninety nine he finished him fourth in that heat we'll have to wait and see but fought a personal best at nine point nine nine may take from the Ivory Coast as you say 1002 and Prescott rewarded with a personal best at 10.20 three seconds do you not there's a little bit of me that feels sorry for the South African athletes because their summer means they peak in February March and they've got to hold their form far too long into the season Cathy Freeman did it in Sydney the Australian how their Olympics in September but I know what you mean different seasons but there's confirmation fought mate a and Prescott they're automatically through some being either world number three well he's gonna have to wait it's exciting guys look at that shots well there's the long jump qualification and only about what is it six them actually got the qualifier really and Jaron Lawson the United States just getting the last place in overall qualification in Group A anyway it's disappointing they're really wiring I think of China he's a 820 jumper normally only at 770 though Jeff Henderson well here we go the Olympic champion two fouls this is his last attempt at getting through to the final big pressure if you can call it that killer oh I don't know wow this would be a major upset if the Olympic camping goes up and qualify terrible time but we left the wait because he still might go through as I said on count back but he can't be happy with he's for the distance he's really playing it too safe there I think could have just done it I'm not sure but I think you probably will go through some of these jumpers obviously 784 way back [Music] he's looking for some sort of breeze and why is not performing there it is just to qualifiers by right there and won't qualify a way it's being slipped Schmidt crane go out native Jamaica I'll see what's another one going out there that's sir that's disaster and now we go quick look at all the qualifiers well just then we saw that 824 that was a great jump suit so my the young goat all that eight twelve maybes putting him in the fourth place there but really the two South Africans are the ones to watch when it comes to the final yeah just got through there yeah Australia so the men's 10,000 meters will be coming up in around about 45 minutes time Ethiopians have the two fastest times in the world this year however since he first started winning five and 10,000 meter titles seemingly for fun fastest times in the world coming into a major championship has never thus far proved a barrier to Mo Farah who is warming up those glutes though famous footsteps he looks to me captor as though he could put out a little mean jab there he's got some good footwork or maybe be handy on the dance floor [Music] Farra focused and ready and how this crowd will respond there I can assure you from our commentary position there is not one single empty seat in this stadium what a platform for these athletes to perform in absolutely sensational so we've had our first sub ten-second performance in the first round proper I wonder if we'll get a second here CJ UJ goes in Lane 2 for Great Britain he has been a different athlete this season and has looked good value for every sub 10-second performance he's produced in 17 so far cambridge of japan Miller of New Zealand's in good form in five Chris Belcher of the USA his first international experience he's on the outside I'll listen to the reception here for CJ Yuja when he's introduced to the crowd here in his absolutely packed and he may want know that his teammate Rhys press kotas just fell apart with a TV channel 3 language of Japan in three semi-finalists last year in Rio he is - you just right there is a man from Japan then Bing Chavez you real a silver medalist in Beijing how they ignited their home crowd two years ago with a fabulous performance Miller's outside the man from China in five in excellent form remember Chen 1:8 we've already seen him in the qualifiers Jeremy Dodson of Samoa the Harter of Lesotho Odhiambo of Kenya the national record holder and then Christopher Belcher not short of a drop or two of confidence is he joint for fastest in the world this year did brilliantly to make the American team this is his first international race Wow what a setting to make your international debut incredible inter on the far side for Great Britain in 2 9 9 8 this season there's Christopher Belcher 9 93 he may well know his compatriot Chris Coleman has gone 1001 only 3 guaranteed passage through to the semis are six fastest losers so far it's going to take 10 24 or better to go through as fastest loser there's huija in lane 2 oh dear oh dear and for the very first time we have a false start the Harter there of Lesotho is looking up to the gods is he a man with a guilty looking expression yes he is third from the left hand side lahar table sotto who's in brilliant form this year Catherine with ten eleven and surely he's got to go yep there's confirmation you can see anything under naught point one zero of a second is deemed a false start and the ampli in lane seven is going to be removed from the field what a shame when you've traveled you prepared but you got to be disciplined he knew he really did no release PC staying by his blocks at the moment but he looks like a man who's just waiting to see that card and attention here in the stadium just begins to rise a fraction stadium announcer is just reinforcing the fact that he has been disqualified in arrow black and red it's a real shame it's great to see athletes coming from countries that we don't necessarily always associate with top sprinting the man from Lesotho down to 1011 this season but he goes no further here in terms of his participation in the 100 meters Belcher starts on the outside in nine there's Odie hambo the Kenyan record holder 7 is empty Dodson Miller few Cambridge and Yuja on the right of picture there can they get away cleanly at the second time of asking Buju just missed a place in the final last year he will feel he can certainly go all the way [Applause] that's Belcher on the far side in 9 this time they are at last cleanly away it's a good start for mojo it is absolutely flying you coming through that was a great run from CJ Yuja bin Jiang Xiu ran well and Christopher Belcher the joy wall fastest man in the world this year having his very first international Counting over 100 meters left it's very very late indeed he has been given the 3rd spot at 10 1-3 but what a run day from CJ Yuja qualifying and qualifying well he's a different athlete this year he trains now with Andre de Grasse coached by Stuart McMillen a lot of time spent out of the Altis camp in the USA he really is a different athlete he's consistent this year Steve he's consistently running around the 10-second barrier his confidence is sky-high you see Belcher on the left to be shot putting a little bit of working with the arms luminous arms trying to get through but good from soo good from Yuja is impressive huija Oh Joe they were chasing him all the way you've got a great start you know and when you put that sort of pressure on the athletes they can sometimes crumble and I think sue came through he looked good over the last 20 meters or so but a great run from the young Britten yeah really was I've mentioned how open this men's 100 is obviously we've got Usain Bolt and Justin Gatlin but the bronze medal really is up for grabs by a few of these athletes you mentioned one in the previous rounds as well Robin for me even before his training partner Andre the grass was out CJ you jur for me could spring a surprise here he could be bronze it could be six but that was a good performance by the British athlete pink chance you took that one CJ you jerk coasting home after a lightning quick start Belcher for the USA left it late Cambridge might go through as a fastest loser Miller for New Zealand definitely won't so we've had qualification group a in the men's discus our big names went through just a couple of seconds here we go the qualification group be the athletes are warmed up and ready the final tomorrow night at seven twenty five so parting Malachowski stall all through and group a and Group B have the same criteria automatic qualifying 64 meters and fifty the top 12 - these two qualifying tools and couldn't be combined together so Hogan from South Africa two times the African champion opens his account 64 meters and 18 this season [Music] twenty-eight-year-old a little bit down on his lifetime best which is 65 meters and 33 which he set four seasons ago so he patiently waits his first of three efforts again another big field 16 athletes in total in this group B including Frederick decorous of Jamaica examine a great season the Jamaica in the world number 261 meters and 76 well we come to heat five now of the men's hundred meters and all eyes will be on obviously Lane five justin gatlin mr. blenman - no tobago tesla best eight nine so nine eight six he goes in Lane two Kim a career just to get there the American champion he as good as he tax has been but obviously a lot of weight on the American shoulders to produce the goods here in this heat road toke from the outside this is a South African great shape personal best and it seems his best of nine nine five there can he upset the big man to his left Justin Gatlin David smelly also in this inmate six big hopes were on to grass as cat said to do the business in the hundred meters of Canada but unfortunately thought out the last minute with a hamstring training here returned fortunately at nine nine closest to the crowd burns the way from the starter clever kid Walsh Gavin smelly fish up my rod tow this week five of the men's hundred meters arm goes up well I think it was blitman there wasn't happy weird the state of clay just prior to the study knows maybe incitement down there towards the track he's been around quite a while Keston blademen and he's showing his experience there because that's the time to put your hand up rather than as we saw in the previous heat you know ending up with a false start and that's an early end to your aspirations I mean it's not as quick as he used to be perhaps nine eight six at his best they're just coming a little word with him here but he was right to put his hand up when he did just giving himself a moment or two to recompose and a little bit of murmuring going around this pact Olympic Stadium forty not just giving him a warning sometimes athletes take this opportunity to unsettle the other athletes by doing something that I think that maybe just be told don't do it again you've got your warning back to the track never going down the second time I think it's water that's been poured out in lane four so we just got gapping in five smelly in six fish up and seventh habit in eighth and roto [Applause] [Music] all clear Wow wait and see I didn't catch anybody there did you rob it wasn't immediately obvious to my eye as the camera is focusing on justin gatlin who's playing the villain role mister tanning in a water would you be upset if that's the case yes it is they've given it to roto well that is a major shock one of the big guns in that heat going out I didn't catch it but we might get it clear of you on the replay that'll be hugely disappointing for the South African especially when you bear in mind that Simbi Nate didn't run well in his earlier heat her this left of camera it's not sometimes easy by the naked eyes it's the pressure that the athlete potentially pushes onto the block so they may not move with their shoulders but if their feet have started to put pressure on the starting blocks it will trigger and go below that naught point one seconds he's looking wait there was the guys on the replay he's not sure [Music] while rules are rules but your heart does go out to athletes who have false starts and go because as you know Catherine Deneuve Osteen the training isn't meant for these men and women and no one wants to see a World Championship campaign come to an end in that manner but he's gone Wow that brings us down to six now in this heat there's only three to go through so I suppose it is it easier or not I don't know they still gonna run hard haven't they Redmond yeah Tobago he goes in that Lane - then it's Kim Bush wasn't it to start with him it's Gatlin now the state smelly canid up fish up bahrain muhammad and then wrote oh not in that lane 9 anymore I was right cleanly yeah they've got a good start the middle of the field there so - did Kim Kim just leading at the moment get the coming through they also coming through on this side as well in victory the American champion looked very cup toward the end Jim just meant a little while but big man came through the winning time 10:06 yeah it was pretty comfortable for justin gatlin in the end round it down to 1005 I'd say what Andrew Fisher ran really well for Bahrain out in Lane 7 big powerful performer coming home ahead of Kim for the second spot Gatlin stunning up here a really disruptive beginning to the race for all of them that perhaps got him better equipped than the others because he has been around at the top for such a long time he didn't let it disrupt his rhythm Kim has gone through on 1024 blademen in fall will not go through as a fastest loser on looking at his time Steve 10:26 is not good enough so a man with a lifetime best of 986 will not be in the semis well we're not seeing many dip under that - magic 10-second barrier at the moment are we I mean only one so far that's the big men come through surprise is really y'all have blank I think surprised me most so far but not qualifiers but not so long I should say no qualifying the ones that we thought would qualify easily I it was an interesting debate between you and Catholics I thought as we watched Gatlin powering his way home fairly relaxed towards the end you could argue that both ways that he was showboating but I agree with you it wasn't necessarily to screw this qualification from Blake but he is there there we go Gatlin Fisher and Kim through fairly comfortably captain particularly looking very good there the American champion at 10:05 neben has pointed out not through that's a shot for him and look who's coming now didn't he just fool the mascot there I think the mascot made the most of a little tap on the head by Usain Bolt they've waited he's going to be in the sixth and final he to this men's first round topper there you go they've got a giimpse at a big man they roared as he walked in the stadium the flash bulbs that are going around here at the London stadium just to get a final photo of the greatest of all time guys he's going to line up here in the sixth and final Heat 11 World Championship gold medals eight Olympic golds and we're losing the man from the sport and he wants to go out on a high doesn't leave it has to be the fairy tale right without any shadow of a doubt he is the man who always always without fail produces his very best when he needs it it's packed here tonight yes many many tens of thousands have come to see Moe but even those who are here tonight you haven't got a ticket for the semies in the final tomorrow they want to savor a first round effort from new Saint bolt because in three generations time Catherine in personality as well as times I still don't think we'll see someone like him who's done it in the manner in which he has with such a sense of fun and he's taken everyone on the journey with him well he has and this is his final championship journey Usain Bolt will line up in lane number seven in the sixth and final Heat he has it all gold medals world records this is his last hurrah he's on the the public responds Connie pull it out the bag can he deliver another gold medal for himself Jamaica and his fans concentrating on the 100 metres here is due to run in the relay at the end of the championships but this is the lineup then for the 6th and final heat of the men's 100 meters first round proper Usain Bolt goes in 7 Cuba koa France goes in lane number 3 and he's a co record holder of the European record at 9:28 six seconds of his best but all eyes will be on the big man in lane number 7 9 o'clock exactly British time a little bit of a chill is in the air around the stadium it's not the warmest therefore but there's the athletes in lane three the corner brought back European record we run nine point nine seven seconds this season Pico in lane number three a great group in Northern Ireland the European champion back in 2014 will start in lane number four [Music] in lane number seven the role for the big man Usain Bolt's who start outside Tata of Japan and he started lane number six tyranny Colombia beau Impreza the Bahamas are starting eight tapped in we start in like number nine is he ready can he deliver again the sixth and final heat of the men's 100 meters the first three guaranteed a place in the semi-finals Rico in three and Usain Bolt's in seven so clean start so good start by Dan say are you from Britain in lane number four Usain Bolt checks a lot to his left turns on the afterburners and unofficially clocks 10.08 sentence good stuff there from bolts he is the master of just doing enough in the 10:07 it's been rounded down deseo loop has been given the nod ahead of Jimmy Biko so the three big names made it through comfortably there tada was fought for Japan he will go through as one of the fastest losers but it was about one man it was about Usain Bolt he's down towards the end what did we think of that though overall he was shaking his head when he crossed the line is desperately looking up at the big screens for a replay he didn't do anything really did he attack from look around and put his foot on the gas to qualify I think I think you just these herbal races I figured get that in the 75 so would there be an argument to say that you should therefore run a first round proper as hard and as technically as well as you can to get a race out if it does you say arguing again Cavs were arguing again but I think he's done as much as he needed to do I think we're seeing a lot more in the semi and I think we'll see a good race in the fire obviously if I can make a point there I think he's very clever about listening to his body now he knows what he what he can put himself through and he wants the one flash fast hard performance to come in the final there he's easing down it wasn't a great start we know that's been one of his weaknesses third from the left of course as if we needed any reminder little bit slow out of the blocks I think there's a reason he's retiring this week almost sounds crazy to say that I think he knows that his body is getting towards a stage where he can't do it anymore he's listening to that and he's just doing enough here to get through to the Senate I think one other point we've got to think about is that yes he's not at his best but so far we haven't seen much that can challenge it really and I think that's the other factor not only you've got a win the others have got a lose in the sense there's a slow-mo replay that the greatest of all time looking for one last hurrah here in London and the Steve over mentioned he's not really many to challenge him in the world this year there's not the depth in the men's 100 and the Usain Bolt got the job done I think he had to be persuaded to run this 100 meters in a world championship year I think he's been ready for quite a while to hang up his spikes but when you're that good you just don't want to go right I actually remember him winning the world junior championship Kingston at 200 meters he was a lanky kid barely drank the skinny kid and I looked at this Alexus gonna cup geez he's gonna be good I didn't realise its could see what but he had a real talent and a real character even then way back then exactly he's 31 on the 21st of August Usain Bolt that was job done by the big man and will see him obviously in the semi-finals set up wonderfully well though isn't it just don't know he knows in his mind and you know what Steve was mentioning about Kingston he said in an interview this week it will remain the proudest moment of his career winning the World Juniors in o2 as a 15 year old in front of his home crowd that says much about his relationship with his country and and it says a lot about what a great memory it was when you think that supercedes eight Olympic titles well we know he doesn't have to be a hundred percent fit for Usain Bolt to lift the big G ten point zero seven seconds he's there to be beaten and it's a top ask for any man to come and do that here in London it's going to be emotional he said this week and he genuinely means that that's a Oulu through automatically as is Jimmy Biko as well so this is a summary of the men who have made it through to the semi-finals tomorrow Christian Coleman the fastest man in the world this year fought though only one man below ten that will change by the end of the semies good qualification for pres code with a PB sani Brown ran really well as well for a lifetime best of 10:05 CJ you J drew 1007 alongside Usain Bolt and you've touched on the emotion Kathryn I think there really will be a lot of emotion football tomorrow - I only was their Charter has made it through as a fastest lunar loser so - Simbi Nate remember all of his subtends coming way back in March and April and May but the South African does find himself in the semi-finals and 10:24 was the slowest time that qualified as a fastest loser the vault story will continue tomorrow there he is and Katherine we we were talking before we came on air about how emotional this will be for bolt not just because it's the end but because he lost three weeks in mourning after he lost Jermaine Mason his great friend earlier this year no fara from one superstar to another bolts is into the semies fara faces his last final over 10,000 meters is coming up in about 15 minutes time Goods yes in the men's discus qualification group B remember for automatic qualifiers over the 64 meter and 50 distance in Group A and that's a better throw the world number 3 this year 68 meters in the 61 a lifetime best for the 26 year old in pretty consistent as well he's gone over the 68 meter line three times this season an Olympic finalist in Rio surpassing the automatic qualifying line 67 meters in one job done in round number one Robert Urbanek of Poland number six World Championship bronze a couple of years ago getting very close to that automatic qualifying line he's only 20 centimeters shy his lifetime best this season is thrown 66 meters in 73 this year getting close to his five-year-old now lifetime best 62 meters in 37 puts him in 212 position remember we need the top 12 for the final tomorrow unless you pop over the 64 meter and 50 now this is an improving athlete Fredrik decorous of Jamaica he's having a great season Oh the official runs over the world number two this year 68 meters an 88 a national record for the Jamaican World Youth champion in 2011 well junior champion in 2012 the second in the Diamond League the world class meetings that we have around the world within track and field second here in London a few weeks ago 64 meters and 46 so just shy the automatic qualifying line but puts himself in a good position Johanna France oh it gives it a yell three times their national champion [Music] only night so at their national championships this year 65 meters intend a lifetime best for in this season where are big improvement 63 meters and 21 into 10th positions well we have a third field event going through qualification for seedling it's the women's pole vault two groups sandy Morris their summer medalist in the Olympic Games last year and at the world indoors Eliza McCartney pink she was still a teenager when she got her bronze in Rio last year as a student former world junior champion she's gone for 82 this season and then in Group B the Olympic champion here in London five years ago Jen Cyr was seventh last year in Rio but remember she has got a world champ silver that was back in the baking heat of Moscow Yara's lei silver got the silver here in 2012 she's the defending world champion fabulous win in Beijing she's the joint fifth highest falter in the world this year Emily Grove came through a jump off coming through we will get to the pole vault shortly meanwhile back to the discus indeed thanks Rob this is Ben Hara dyeing the Australian oh well freckled hold up 24 years old now he's got over 64 meters this season you can see the blue line on your screen of the 12th athlete at the moment when they combine the two qualification tools so you can see it's just sitting shy the automatic 64 meters of the 50 line my Harrod I'm walks out the front of the circle so 60 meters exactly at the moment is best it's got a bit of work to do with his third and final throw [Music] so the Estonian bird counter the Olympic champion back in 2008 got medals back home from five World Championships thirty-eight years old now is a huge fella huge wingspan oh well he's pulling his experience out the back here and he's based is a 73 meter 38 thrower that was 11 years ago for canter [Music] the two kilogram discus flies for canter 65 meters in 87 was his season's best well 63 meters and 61 in the second round puts himself up into 7th position so the men are preparing to emerge for the first final of the 2017 I double AF World Athletics Championships one in which the home crowd will be desperate to see Mo Farah successfully defend its world title he's the Olympic champion and there he is just getting himself loose and ready it's his 14th race over 10,000 meters he's only lost two she didn't finish on top was his very first 10,000 meters and the last time he lost over 10,000 was that incredible final in Daegu when he was out sprinted by Jaylon on the last lap since then it's been all gold below this is the final of the men's 10,000 meters will history repeat itself the mo Farah's is this stadium that he helps make so famous five years ago the big countdown the big buildup here they come twenty four men and four twenty three of them the task facing them is what can they do differently in this race over ten thousand meters that they've been unable to do against mo for the last six years he's the fastest in the field on paper he's not the quickest this season but so far he hasn't let that affect him and listen to the way they're responding to his encouragement for more he is one of the sports global superstars his wife Tonya is here with his children our Marnie Aisha has seen in Rihanna while they've got more than a medal each now more than two lo Barrett going for his 10th global title when you combine this 5,000 and 10,000 meter triumphs all through the years starting in daegu silver over the 10 and gold with the 5 Steve over do you expect no Pharaoh to once again deliver as he has done in every race since that 10 in daegu yes it's a simple answer and I think that the question mark is what can others do it as you said before Rob yeah they've tried and tried and tried again to beat this man and they don't try as a team it's not like the Tour de France where you can send out two or three riders to try and destroy someone and then take it on from there the Kenyan and the eath yoga teams don't run as a team they run as individuals and I think that's the the factor that's been decisive in living bow dominate the race is so far that he's done Katherine from a psychological point of view mo has said a couple of times and I would agree with him he's the best judge of his own form he said he's not quite where he wants to be this year do you read anything into him being honest about that is there some kid ology going or is he so comfortable in his own skin and so much better than everyone else that saying that doesn't give his opponents a glimmer of hope Oh Nemo knows doesn't it it's a hard one to answer Rob I think he's being honest in his assessment I'm just intrigued in this final and would our Steve I know it's a bit further than your distance D but what would what would you do how would you try and take on Mo Farah in his own backyard in his own global championships well I think you just not put some form of pressure on it but at least it's the least expects it he's the sort of athlete that expects to be there with them within about three or four laps to go if you're gonna hit my you've gotta hit him where it hurts you're gonna hit him for 5k out and not not any athlete I've got the courage to do that so far there's another factor also in this the simple factor is that is money at stake the prize money for some of these athletes if they finish second or third in behind mo is significant they don't want to give that up to try and break the bank before that here is the full lineup for the men's 10,000 meter final some superb Kenyans in this speed and kuroky materi watch out the hill fantastic cross-country runner and over the half marathon as well Timothy Tory teach the Ugandan could go well here career for USA and also need no Pharaoh Moses Curran of Uganda and is there anything Jeffrey Kipp sang can wear or can do to stop no Farah he's a four-time world champion when you add up his cross country and half marathon titles there's belly you he's just 18 years of age but there's camera he has unbelievable amounts of stamina he was amazing to watch in China when he won the 2015 world loss country title and let's listen to this then he fell out but arguably his best distance in an event at which he hasn't lost for six years so wall D this has an lead the United States am salon fifth in the world half back in Copenhagen in 2014 he's a really really strong athlete are on KITT Lake Leonard career one of the Robertson twins there was Toyota CH a body harness is the fastest man in the world this year got a cracking bronze in the world cross they find Geoffrey camera in Uganda in March and what about Paul to knew his chances they're just on the left of pictured on a silver behind Moe only just lost by a whisker in the Olympic final last year and then began kuroky Michiru Herodias now most people refer to him that Rogerian his bid so we will refer to in this materi so that you know who we're talking about and sure roaming on the inside tent last year in the Olympic final watch Jeffrey Kipps an Camera Raw he says he's in superb form he got a silver behind Moe two years ago in Beijing and he feels he can dethrone the king on his own turf and there is camera and here we go the final of the men's 10,000 meters is underway mo farah hoping for a 10th consecutive global gold over five or 10,000 meters he is towards the back on the right man booth of athletes as they come towards the stagger and a really big question here Steve ovett is are they actually going to take this out and it looks to me as though checked a guy the young Ugandan has decided that this will be an honest race right from the start and if this continues Steve this is a different type of race to that which he has won in the major championships before they're laying it down by the big question mark obvious is how fast to maharani's on his times he's 30 seconds behind the world record the coulee set so you know he hasn't been pushed to that sort of level but can these athletes do that I'm not sure thing though it's early days what some of these athletes are just relaxing out in front at the moment and most of the athletes behind are quite content I think to let these athletes go at this stage it's an interesting race as I said it's a matter of how much someone wants to put the pressure on Bowl in a long race like this it's a big ask to do it earlier and that's what you have to do there's another interesting fact here about the character who's leading Joshua chapter guy is a world junior champion over the 10000 meters areas on the left of picture there I was in tram parlor for the world cross country championships in March and chapter guy went out like a madman the last laugh he's made it to 30th I think he was absolutely destroyed himself with one lap to go and he's gone out pretty hard here but in doing so he's changing the dynamic of this race and he might be changing the manner in which mo Farah has to win this third world title over 10,000 meters to two world titles of course so far with Moscow and Beijing and two Olympic titles it has slowed a little bit the 205 for 800 it's some it's a solid early pace Claire is not interested he's about two thirds of the way back down the field as chapter guy and Jeffrey kicks and camera are in first and second an inch in fact that sort of being from the statistics as it is that if you took all of the African runners in this race those that were actually born and running for their country in Africa and those it and they're running for other countries out of this race I've at least twenty four efforts that only be three other athletes know Europeans three other athletes non African that are actually in this particular form so it shows the dominance that Worthen Africans have in the distance races so far it really has become an East African dominated event as she said not just with the Kenyans and the Ethiopians but also with the likes of the Ugandans and interestingly there Geoffrey kapsak camera who was in third place there he is with the distinctive red vest he was urging kept a guy and cool on the other Ugandan to come forward so fascinating because we've been talking about how individual nations don't necessarily work together but there was definitely an exchange desti between Jeffrey camera of Kenya and Moses coral and Uganda they were saying come on let's keep it going in the quick update to 40 for the first kilometer that's 26:40 pace that's quicker than far as P V but it's also quicker than every other actor Zachary and that's the problem that's the problem koror looks good those third-place they're jogging along quite nicely but they're spreading out it's much is the same as we've seen in many of the past World Championships when the paces like this it's not really destroying a field there's more in the middle of middle of the pack when he just just ahead really there I think it is a Robertson New Zealand or one of the other as I said non-africans in this race Tiernan actually one of the athletes on oh very one he competed against my son as a junior at school really rough they went to the state's system won the US collegiate gothic cross country and so he's obviously also I think recently run bovary closer to 50 other meters yes mo farah hasn't had too many forays this season he's he's raced sparingly had a 334 eagle rough I think in the States back in April not as fast as the 328 so we saw in Monaco when he was coming home behind a spell Kip rot but we will return to the 10000 shortly 455 in the women's pole vault qualifying group ace Andy Morris of the USA UCC entered the competition at 4 meters and 35 world indoor and Olympic silver medallist in Rio last year now for 6th is the automatic qualifying for the final on Sunday or the top 12 is within the compass of Morris she's got over 4 meters and 80 this season [Applause] only 12 got past 450 couple still to come in Jenny sure Stephanie D the two big guns pasting their qualifying in this women's pole vault but a good clearance for Morris is a 5 meter vaulter on the best last year Lisa rice it of Germany her first attempt then at 4 meters and 55 oh nice a good clearance so this lighter 4 meters and 55 being cleared as expected by some of the big names in this woman's 12 volt final Bernardo a Venezuela she's sim what some of the big names have done over this height it's her first attempt at four meters and 55 South American champion this year oh that was nice just 19 years old that's good performing for a teenager isn't it a lifetime best is 4 meters and 65 this season lumen of Canada took three attempts to get over the previous height of four meters and 52 our first attempt led at 4 meters and 55 [Applause] and she goes clear gives herself a little bit of a clap so 455 cleared the big names couple more as I mentioned still to come in qualifying still continuing everybody looking at there for six the automatic qualify heart a while back with this 10,000 meters Joshua chapter guy now is once again helping Jeffrey Campbell wall the double world cross the wall half marathon champion is in second place he's helping him push it on let's not forget as well about cool to new he in third he's been the most consistent challenger to Great Britain's go ferry in recent years a bronze in Moscow and Beijing and had a scorching last lap I put him under pressure in Rio as our men of Canada comes up on the outside and there's mo farah steve not really interested the pace is now drifted to just the shade outside 27-minute place he looks comfortable there but at least they're trying something different yes it's a reasonable pace and i think that's the most important factor that will come into play over the last three or four laps who sent this after it marie he'd alleys at the back now or in the middle of the field relaxing as much as he walks to really until he finds out what the rest of the athletes what to do and how hard they're willing to push the pace and I think the moment they're respectable whether they're doing damage or not I don't think is the case because you can see no one is justly too far off for that tack there in the inside but all together really now just beginning to take a little closer attention to what's going on at the front they're coming round now with 17 laps to go Shep the guy in the slowed infraction I think which is why they're once again bunching up just hurting a little bit Banaras Farah and interesting that the other Kenyan feed and kuroky Michiru is just and directly behind though Farah so there are tactics going on up ahead of him to time braking and there are other tactics being taught employed by East Africans who are deciding to stick with him light blue well and also at other factors that happiest and the AMIA the two yoga's ranked 1 on Kuna rock really haven't done anything at all either they're just almost round about middle of the field of the mother you'd expect there may display more guitar if they wanted to do it in the early stages because they're the fastest men so far this year I agree that there was talking all the I give a layer previews on them on the website which are excellent for those of you who are interested in the finer details there was talking there about whether the Chui fee opions would decide that they had nothing to lose and that they absolutely go for it straight from the off but it's not the Ethiopians who set the pace it's checked a guy P Uganda Campbell or his great rival from Kenya slow it down dramatically here see that the pace causing a bit of problems there as they started to fit their heels it got to be a bit careful and Steve I was just watching I'm not sure when he just got a shot of it there Jetta guy is actually one being camera to come past him and just watched in there as he went round from about at about the 1500 meter point a little bit of dialogue between the two East African nations and it's to nuit now who hits the front and remember to nuit ran something like all that he produced he produced a fifty five seven two most fifty five point three on the last lap in Rio and he was fantastic value for that silver medal behind though last year and he's decided okay well I'll tell you how to go at the start not enough but no sooner had they set the place than Pharaoh has responded and how often do you see an athlete asking the crowd to get involved that's how confident he I've never seen that in a ten thousand before of you I've seen the fifteen but not in the ten thousand no I think he's just flying with him at the moment that's an indication of what sort of speed and sort of comfortable feeling he's got in his ten thousand well Farah confident at the moment he's got the crowd fired up and there's still exchanges going on between chapter going camera try as they might they just cannot find a way of getting away from the defending champion so the men's discus continues qualification Group B round number two the Robert Urbanek [Applause] where you see the solid blue line denoting the 12th position so is surpassed that was the polish athlete doesn't look particularly happy with his effort looking to join staff partings Anna Trotsky Findlay where 63 meters in 67 it's an improvement he gets himself inside the magic 12 number so women's pole vault a Jennifer sure of the USA her third and final attempt of four meters and 55 the Olympic champion here in 2012 the world indoor record holder she taught herself under pressure and I think her face says it all the American out at 4 meters of 55 it was her opening Hyatts we've seen it a few times at major championships when athletes have just got it wrong than Jennifer sure today 17 time the US Champion in doors are now folk tunes with 455 doesn't make her opening height and exits the World Championships in the stage' where she won the Olympics five years ago Peter southern Sweden third in this men's discus is in 21st position needs to get himself into the top 12 all the speed was good oh yes oh you could probably still here and walked it on a Halloran and so assured the 23 year old 64 meters and ATMs a lifetime best this year the Swedish under-23 champion this year well he wasn't inside the top 20 was he with his first couple of throws but that his emotion and hasn't got himself into the top 12 oh it has indeed 63 meters and 69 that's the position to be in Katherine we have a race on our hands here feed at kuroky Michiru went to the front like a wild man he accelerated as if he had about 600 meters to go he was getting fed up with the chewing and throwing and they had allowed fara to get right back up to them remember Farrell was motioning for more noise from the crowd Michiru hit the front he's put in some brutal laps and he has decided they cannot afford to mess around any longer ferret is third from the right-hand side he's still in touch for what a brave move it was such a sudden acceleration considering they still were arced the race to go well we got three Kenyans here making an effort really buttery you can see why he's let cadence he wasn't going to keep going for but he did a bit of damage I think that's what he wanted to do he wanted to make sure that his teammates had a bit of a chance they split it up now they're down to what is it that ten athletes they're in this group and then what's gonna happen now is whether they continue this rhythm this is the rhythm they need and that's the sort of pace over the last two laps that's a fact that's the one his last place erases time and time again he's looking around he's waving the girl on a bit disappointing with that I think that's why they serves a bit more and yet no sooner have they done that then they bunched again just a little bit Camera Raw with two nuit beginning to look a little bit desperate here as long as as if they can't what make up their mind which tactic to employ but they've got to keep driving here Farah is just on the left of picture they're running halfway towards the outside of lane to just making sure he doesn't get his heels clicked and you can hear the response of the crowd he's only just positioning himself slightly further up the group but they're responding to every position he moves towards the front with a huge raw camera all continuing but the man they're trying to move away from is still there like a shadow that won't go away also you can see that these yokels there are started to come slightly to the fore well come on Olympic champion to another Stefanie D of Greece entering the women's pole vault qualifying [Applause] well 12 others at least have gone over four meters and 15 we may have more than 12 athletes in the final he can listen but Stephanie to do what Jennifer shared of the USA couldn't which is go over our opening height the world leaders the Olympic champion that was a good clearance said she's got a fear of heights but not when she's voting Stephanie D has had a great season so too in this base ten thousand meters as mo farah and Jeff leak it sank at the raw but having seen his compact here his teammate be decorating the tree scorch to the front put in the 61 plus change 400 meters it's all just punched a little bit again and the excellent Timothy Toyota CH is up towards the front but there's a really big group here as they go round with nine laps to go and a little shove in the back there from Troy ditch towards Kip Lake one of the eretrians now getting to the front well jr. set the medalist last year in fifth in the world cross he's a great athlete and the ethiopians the fast men are still there that they can't shake off Pharoah who is still towards the back of that group looking comfortable at the moment with eight and a half to go so from pole vault in the field to the men's discus because that's continuing we need to get our finalists for the men's discus which is tomorrow night what's Manta bro Fredrik Peppers of Jamaica that's having a good season and the Jamaican he tops off by surpassing the automatic qualifying line of 64 meters and 50 doesn't look overly impressed with it but he's got qualifying out the way before the war do you found your junior champion walk twice as shocked as well so Jamaica representing on the track early with the likes of Usain Bolt and the world number two this year it's gonna be representing in the final of the men's discus tomorrow 64 meters an 82 the noise is beginning to grow here in the Olympic Stadium Paul - new he has had a turn at the front to try and increase the pace and still one by one the lead is changing to 44 for that kilometer so that's 40 pace they have slowed and with every lap that we get closer towards the end of the race they are playing further the hands of no Pharaoh because history shows us when he's there in touch or leading at the Bell none of them have the acceleration or the place to live in him over the last 400 meters and stayed over alongside me in the Box Pharaoh will be quite happy I think at the manner in which this race looks as though it's gliding towards a conclusion yeah I think he's every lap that goes by now is going to be feeling more and more confident you can say at the moment time it's chapter gate a began of jars cooking at all but they're not really pushing on fast enough as he said it's about 27 maybe 27 20 that sort of rhythms not the hurt mo much at all really unless someone starts surging through that probably five laps out and really going for it I think the race really is falling into the hands of this so great I think yet again Jeffrey camera was having a look at the big screens either end of the stadium and he'll know that ferret is behind him camera by the way had a 56 second last lap on route to a really good win at the Kenyan trials at altitude so he has worked on his speed the man currently in second place and this is how fast they're going they're coming up to lap one of the back markers who will be swept aside it looks as though it's PA de who's representing Ecuador really good athlete and he is about to be swallowed up by the pack one of the mistakes that they Africa's making you can call it that is that they think they can finish faster the boat over the last er he's a 328 1500 even run that sort of speed means he can out pick virtually anybody over the last lap and I think there's a lie upon the feelings that they can still out kicking time to time again and it's been a major mistake a major flaw in their habit and Steve it looks as though it's a floor that will continue into this race just to run you by the numbers for those of you interested as Pharaoh moves up on the outside and takes close to order with those leading the last three global titles he's won over 10,000 meters 54.4 in Moscow 54.1 in Beijing 55.3 last year in Rio if he's their leading at the Bell he will be almost impossible to beat because as you quite rightly said none of them had the same 400 meter speed as fara especially with 24 laps already in their legs 63 lat again not fast enough I don't think that is mail coming truth at last the Ethiopians are maybe putting a bit of a challenge in but it doesn't look as if it's significant Moroso casual there in about fifth place just looking at the front just making sure that no one's being silly go down the backstroke get a got the club really loving this there are and the seats are standing there cheering their favor lot and he hasn't really put a foot wrong so far while he's already regarded that's one of the Great's of the sports the debate would continue about whether you could call him the absolute greatest son say yes because of the unbelievable number of doubles he's produced some say no because he's not a world-record holder but the crowd responding because Farah the poster boy of British athletics is now in second place with a mile in old-fashioned money to go Farrow is closing in on another piece of history here in the stadium and on the stage of which he shown five years ago and it's been a five years Steve over where he has never been beaten over five or 10,000 meters it's been an incredible run again another strobe move Bombo coming round into third place all he's got to do is keep ahead of the big dangers and he gets a gap of two or three meters that means I got her on a circle so faster than him to get past him it's kanui he's gone to the front that's another fact marker porta Nui who pushed Mo Farah very hard in Rio last year he's gone to the front with Campbell or the brilliant cross country and half marathon specialist in second place bead and kuroky in third with Farah just on his shoulder so we have harness leading now for ethiopia he's the fastest man in the world this year camera to new chapter guy of Uganda is still trying to come wide on the outside it's an army of East Africans that's so far in their quest to dethrone Mo Farah sir Mo Farah they have come up short Mardis is trying to push the pace here surely if they've got a chance they have to wind it up now because if they leave it to the Bell history tells us it's too little too late and they will play into Paris hands great shot from the camera there you saw the faces of those guys and there wasn't much in there really you can see the tanks are almost empty and Moe is lingering as he always does in the place where he is the most dangerous now looking up at the scoreboard there checking everybody is well they should know where he is because he's coming right now listen to the reception from the crowd no Vera moves into the lead the noise is deafening two laps to go in the final of the men's 10,000 meters the fastest man in the world this year a body harness of Ethiopia has the defending champion the Olympic champion then they're curious oh no Farah on his shoulder some hugely talented Kenyans would love to get in the mix as well some of the young these are absolutely broken that's a black marker they're going past and Farah hits the front with a little over 600 meters to go this is the earliest we've ever seen in taking on water declaration of intent Steve over let's almost casually coming to the front down there struggling behind he's lengthened in his stride he doesn't even look as if he's breathing that heavy the others are in real trouble look at the faces behind he's looking up at the crowd he's looking up the scoreboard there is no one I don't think it's going to pass this man over the last 400 meters this is another goal in the bank looking ahead are there challenges I don't think so they take the bell in the men's 10,000 meters the noise is deafening farah gets a trip from behind its to new eid and that who got the silver behind him in Rio last year and parrot rich again he steps on the infield that could prove crucial at the end if there's a protest but fara leads to new he on his shoulder gold and silver in Rio last year but try as they might Farrah is holding the inside line chapter guy trying to close the Ugandan in third Kanwar looks as though he's a beaten man material for fara driving Barra pushing he's watching he's waiting can he strike can he maintain this golden run and listen to the crowd jet two guys running the rest of his life in second but this is about sir it's told again for one of the greatest of all time Jetta guy took the silver and I think to new he may have got the bronze it was a brutal brutal race it was run with such intent by no Pharaoh I think there are almost tears of delight and relief from him and his family he has done it again gold in just as he did five years ago an extraordinary race with an extraordinary man no one was to deny Farrah in front of his own he has done it yet again the emotion in the stadium is [Applause] overflowing the noise was deafening he tried [Applause] outsourced or out of the thousands of fans here tonight and he got it for me he was in control throughout the whole of that race there was not a moment Steve ovett in my mind but the winning time 26:49 opens a fast last tulips that's us better but that's what he loves nobody gets the front two laps to go but nothing to do anything about these images carry some emotional you to know what it takes to get to the top he spends six months of the year away from the Marnier Sharia they're the same and Chania as to new he goes on another lap before the great bronze in the chapter guys fantastic silver what dedication and what a sacrifice from all the family not just mode indeed and he spoke recently just a couple of weeks ago about hopefully at one to move back to the UK he wants to bring his family back who hates being away from them he speaks with emotion and a lot of emotion when he talks about being away from them it is hard to hear his wife he's just an amazing lady he says that all the time but he said he doesn't for his family and he does it for his children that was outstanding for me tonight he was looking up at the screen he was using the crowd he was coming off the track he was he did everything that he's still managed to clean it out the bag at a hundred meters to go turn got the gears and he was gone well he is attempting to embark on a lap of Honor with the same the crowd are on their feet it's a standing ovation from everybody it's the whole family fabulous ferret all of them soaking in this moment because we should remind ourselves we will never see this man racing over 10,000 meters ever again well it's part one done of this London 2017 world champs isn't it the treble double Park one is done he will come back in a few days over the 5000 meters will see him in Birmingham at the Diamond League on the 20th of August running over a shorter distance can anyone stop him over the 5000 metres now guys surely surely I've never seen him run that easily and I in all the years I've known you I've never seen him in such control well I tell you what Cabot I've never seen an athlete in a 10,000 meters get the crowd involved of his own accord we should make mention of chapter guy we've got the server's we the scenes of Ferrandis children doing the mobile checked a guy ran a fantastic race for such an athlete we've got it so wrong with the world cross in large fabulous silver for him and two new he's on the podium once again silver behind farah last year bronze this time and I think that's his third consecutive bronze in the 10,000 meters but those are great moments for the abandons and the Kenyans this is a really important thing for mo farah for his family and for British athletics it is you talk about missing Usain Bolt when he steps off the track most power of course with his ambitions on the road to come the silver one silver medal in 2011 often picked up the gold over the 10,000th and since then 2012 onwards he's been dr. Bohr let's not forget fix's as well Steve you know the times he runs over the 1500 meters as well he just it just has everything which is why no one's been able to stop him when they try the different tactics well there's only one athlete that's in the past could have stopped at the Cure I think that he's best that was a superhuman bad really I mean as I said he's thirty second anyway who knows everyone if those two ever would a run against one another it would have been the race of the century but we always look at these things don't we in hindsight and say who's the best who's the greatest me second four but I don't think you can pair a thickness athlete because time takes its toll on everything but at most performance here tonight is tremendous but bikini is war record right now watch they're absolutely fantastic as well well talk us through this one guys because if there was so much going on he was tricked at least twice on that last lap but he had the acceleration to do it and I think he was tricked he was looking over his shoulder too much and twisted his body and caught that caught the curb a little bit too sir looking at this throw at the last part of the race I think for a chapter gait was perfect if he is actually running so well and for to get the silver middle he ganden there i means Mose was really towering over that last 200 meters and really stride for stride chapter guy actually matched it but it was the fact that Moe as always gets the lead on everybody over the last 400 meters and no one goes past it that is the image that will be on all the front covers of every single British newspaper tomorrow sir Mo Farah delivering again in the stadium that he helped make famous five years ago double Olympic champion over ten thousand meters treble world champion over ten thousand meters [Applause] so this this is around about the 1,500 meter mark on that last lap there's one foot that goes on the infield there I mean technically you can't do that but he was arguably forced into that position no he wasn't forcing it roll he turned around caught someone's heel and then tripped himself that's it I mean you know you can't blame someone else for doing something but you're doing wrong yourself okay so would you think that there might potentially be a protest there from the king the Kenyans are going to protest against Mo Farah winning this in front of his home crowd are these last 10,000 meter race I don't think somebody asking a question well you could ask it Robert it might be answered put it that way great moments for the whole Pharaoh family and there's still so many people in the stadium just to help him out on the lap of honor just about to say he's talking to the infield announcer you and Thomas and they are hanging on his every single word and he's crying he's crying guys the emotion there was so much going on in that race all the way through it was arguably one of the most entertaining of his 14 10,000 meter races and one with a familiar outcome yet another global goal that's ten can he finish his track career with 11 well he'll certainly be the favorite for the 5000 meters after the confident manner in which he has dominated that one over 25 laps [Applause] no Pharaoh is the world champion once again and look at how many personal bests and national records behind him checked a guy around the race of his life for the silver ducking under 27 minutes Antony makes it a third consecutive bronze over 10,000 meters [Music] Wow we were hoping it would be the perfect ending to the first night and it really was just a confirmation and national record for sure Obon of Bahrain but hes actually kenyan he's an expat career 2720 personal bests all the way down to Hass that need in 15th place and a season's best for saying Robertson you came home in 16 it's a perfect script there isn't it on the first evening session of these I double AF world athletic championships at the first track final the first gold medal goes to a British start it was a seater race as you say Raj so much action so much drama interesting see that might be one of the only gold winners that Britain will actually take if he leaves the five it should be interesting [Music] so the discus throw the qualification group B there's confirmation to automatic qualifiers then over the 64 meter 50 distance and then the small Q's means that those athletes have also progressed to the final that final tomorrow night at 1925 UK time and here's a list of your full qualifies that will take par all the big names that are expected to get through her their style Malachowski Harting cans with estonia as well automatically qualifying through to the vinyl and it took 63 meters and 23 the jamaican to get himself into the discus men's throw final tomorrow evening and then also at the other end of the stadium remember we have the men's launch of quiet qualifying early didn't we that seems a while ago now but the pole vaulters didn't go any higher than the 455 in Group A so you can see the little Q means these are the athletes that are qualified for that women's pole vault final so Group A was done and dusted and then from Group B in the women's pole vault qualifying well ekaterina stephanie be the olympic champion one volt only needed to get in with four meters and sixty and there's the full list including silver but the big shock jennifer shear at the USA no mark failing on our opening height of four meters and 55 the american will not take part in the women's pole vault final but these athletes will contest the final being led as I said by the Olympic champion automatic qualifying of four meters and 60 the Stefanie D of Greece Lisa dice which gets through as well as does Great Britain and Northern Ireland's Holly Bradshaw as well going over four meters and fifty from this pole vault final another final of course to look forward to while so many people staying around in the Olympic Stadium because we will have the first medal presentation and it goes to the homegrown favorite Sir Mo Farah so that ceremony coming up very shortly and I'm sure he will get the crowd involved in more cheering and more celebration just extraordinary the way he was asking for help and crowd response during that 10,000 meters we certainly haven't seen that from him during a race of that importance before the man who's obviously feeling confident and comfortable and as Kathryn was saying he's now halfway to yet another double fitting for a fifth double gold here in London in 2012 double gold in Moscow and in Beijing and in Rio just incredible and lest we forget we've seen the greatest sprinter who ever lived in the 100 meters he is one race down and has two to go and he will be hoping that he produces a similar predictable climax at the end of tomorrow night's athletics they're good friends as well aren't they mr. bolt and mr. Farah so what one does the other one likes to do as well so this is just the first evening of action and it's been absolutely outstanding got a full day tomorrow our first full day's NIT we've got a morning session that kicks off at 10 o'clock in the morning goes all the way through and we start again tomorrow night at 7 o'clock the UK time I don't know whether I can cope guys it's just all too exciting don't think Rob be able to cope is no key to do stuff like that stay with us cat hard yet it's gonna get worse though you're spoken like a true middle distance runner that is right hey don't forget he was quite useful over the 5000 as well in this day you know what to do over 12 and a half laps but guys it's been a great opener and fantastic that all the athletes who've competed this evening not just fire in the 10,000 meters but 100 the women in the 15 and the qualification on the field these athletes as you too know works so hard throughout the year and they deserve packed houses and really great atmospheres in which to produce their best that's that's the return that they should get all the months and years where they've knocked out rep sessions in the pouring rain with nobody there to watch it's a great backdrop that they're creating for these athletes well Samoa Pharoah will come out shortly for his medal ceremony the crowd of patiently waiting like intently there must be at least 30 to 40 photographers three four lines in front of the medal ceremony podium to get a picture of Mo Farah and another 10,000 meter world gold medal as we watched the great images once again he's got that wide arm wide eyed stare proud of being treated to some music here to keep them going before the celebration what a great silver I know I've mentioned it a couple of times but Joshua chapter guy put himself in pole position to win the world cross and completely ran out of steam a lot in in March this year in camp arla heats run absolutely superbly there to get the silver ahead of the lights of Porter Nui and be down kuroky and Geoffrey Camera Raw great run for the Ugandan who's only just turned 20 but no one was to deny ferret so maybe a changing of the guard then as mo farah runs his last 10,000 meters on the track the man behind him mo farah 34 years old now maybe the man behind him you ran so well as you say Rob could be the next man to maybe try and even start a legacy and medal connected collection of this man there's a very very tough tough act to follow that's Tonya look this is the closing stages of the race is wipe tan you're in the middle [Music] the cried the delight who saying his son on the right layers ever been bumped up and down as much as possible those in stages of these alley wins a gold medal what a feeling what a feeling and what a noise in the stadium as well you could feel it growing lap by lap just as was the case in 2012 plenty of Union Jack's being prepared for the medal presentation there's all sorts of photographers gathering just down in front of our commentary position watching of waiting trying to make sure they get the photo pull the websites and the papers tomorrow it's five past 10:00 local time so it probably is still just about early enough to catch the last editions on all the newspapers here in Great Britain tomorrow the 2017 world champs and started with a bag nets for sure I want a boost for the rest of the British team as well you know they have the first medal on the board must have been the same in your era Steve when you have dropped it all these medals left right and center you conscious of the vibe it put through the squad the inspiration I watched us I could never see myself as MP but it's inspirational definitely not now I think vibes through the team comes with funding it's probably mostly family and said so no I'd be able to get them g'd up too much now but yeah I think you're right it does it does actually mean a big thing to the team if we have early success I think because of Mo being mo in the stature that he has within our not just our sport but within the team as well I just think you get a bit of a buzz off that well I did when the rest of my teammates did but I was quite pleased for them and I thought if they could do it I can do it well that's the thing yeah that's right you do but I mean it's it's it's still a big ask this is the world championships you know you can't spit athletes to suddenly be motivated so much that they produce the goods they've got to have the talent as well they've gotta have the determination and the chance to do it you know that's why I said earlier you know will this be one of our only gold medals in terms of GB was it if he wins the five that's the two but it's gonna be hard for anybody else it really is they've got a tough metal target UK sport here in Great Britain and Northern Ireland six to eight medals is their predicted podium finishes but good luck good luck but it is a good he's the first one though we're up to running right ladies and gents though farm for the 10,000 meters has been there and done it before and done it in this stadium twice but I'm sure he will savor this moment just as he did five years ago [Music] little Sebastian Coe hi-ee press full of intrigue and the Eiger maleic president will have the honor of awarding the first three medals of these games medalist representing Kenya Poulter knew what a great effort once again from the Kenyan palter Nui bronze in Moscow bronze in Beijing and bronze here in London to go alongside his silver behind mode last year in Rio so consistent in such a tough event he once again stands on a global podium on silver medallist representing Uganda Joshua and it's Jiang a 20 year old from Uganda will be absolutely delighted with this silver medal he was so disappointed but moving from 1st to 30th that the world cross in Kampala he was sixth in the 10,000 final last year in Rio and this silver medal shows you how quickly he's learning about this most brutal of events chapter guy the World Championships silver medalist with a lifetime best and listen to this champion representing Great Britain at Northern a low of noise and affection but one of the most talented sportsmen rick has ever produced his 10th global gold sir Mo Farah signs on his career over 10,000 meters in the best possible way in front of his adoring home crowd special moments in his career when this will rank right towards the very top [Music] my dad's a mess to mess it up for Jamy the new module well despite the fact we adults that you never get tired and it's good to see all three of the net lists happy with the outcome this evening just a great race and a wonderful way for moe to finish this career over ten thousand I think it's nice when all three medalists are genuinely delighted with what they've achieved I'm very proud to have been involved in the Sydney Olympic final over 400 meters Cathy Freeman gold Lorraine Graham of Jamaica silver with the national record of myself the first time under 50 seconds taken bronze every single one of us was elated ecstatic and delighted with what we'd achieved because that was the best that we could have done at that time and we were very obviously pleased and delighted with it and these three guys look the same don't mean they they all genuinely look like to be warned never to leave to the race no one's disappointed no one feel they could have done more was a wonderful end to the first evening sir she wasn't it I think the disappointment is the ones behind so you know some of the ones that shooted a lot better and that was petit Flores I think the ethiopians I think Rob really didn't produce as much as we thought they were gonna do they threatened before the race but he didn't do it Kenyon's did as much as they could but you know in the end no one had anything to release the to upset the apple cart with moe they tried what they could there were accelerations midway through the race a couple of trips many times the lead changed hands but there was almost an inevitability about mo Farah's last lap it's been quite an opening evening here [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] well just a little clarification on the medal table one thing is certain it will change quite a bit between now and the end of the championship gold to Great Britain silver to chapter guy and Janu he getting the Kenyans off the mark and they will hope for many more as the championship unfolds but Great Britain have won gold at least and Mo Farah will be hoping to make it to towards the end of the championship long long way to go though [Applause] so Catherine looking ahead to tomorrow your assessment of what you've seen from bolt so far yes I like nice easy the semi-finals will show us though guys right there's everybody gonna show us he's got his final tomorrow night is the last event at quarter to 10:00 British time so now it's gonna be interesting and he's gonna hope for the fairytale that like mo farah had tonight over the 10,000 meters steed 100 jamal which you know up a decent race for a change that's that's coming up i'm looking forward to that that's the first round and the really sorry the women's crypto beers semi-finals them that i think probably the most contested race at the whole of the canada so much still to look forward to you've been listening to rob walker catherine mary and steve over that's day one we'll see you tomorrow good night [Music] [Music] you
