[Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] it's a world championship year and the road to Doha in Qatar goes through the Land of the Rising Sun the world's fastest athletes have gathered here in Japan standby it's time for the fourth edition of the I double-a F world relays [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] welcome to the Yokohama International Stadium with 30 kilometers south of the Japanese capital Tokyo for the biggest I double-a F world relays yet and standby for some new look events as the sport continues to evolve and the innovation will start at the very top tonight for those fans who've made their way into this stadium hello from Tony husband joining me in the commentary box a world champion at 800 meters and multiple real a gold medalist at Commonwealth Games we're delighted to have Tamsin man--who with us how are you delighted to be here it's such a fun event you can feel the enthusiasm in the air it's an event where athletes always look forward to the relays and what an event we've got the world realized where you get relays of their main events and the athletes are pretty excited about it here's what we've got to come up on the first evening of these World relays it's a packed timetable loads of action which will start with the mixed shuttle hurdles one of the two new events we're going to see here at these World relays there's also going to be big stories of course the Germans are back to defend the 4 by 100 meter crown that they won a couple of years ago in the Bahamas and mixed relays World Championship qualification of course is on the line for the leading nations of this event so so much to look forward to there is and I'm loving the innovations that the audible air for coming up with I have to say I'm looking forward to the mix two by two by 400 meters it sounds painful which means it's going to be fun to watch well it's a pretty cool evening you can see there's a breeze around this famous Stadium the largest stadium in Japan 23 Celsius now a warmer day the Sun was shining we're at sunset as we go on air and these were some of the teams making their way down onto the practice track which is just outside this stadium lots of expectation lots of nerve to expect for a few there are there gonna be nerves but you can feed those nerves off with your teammates and you can see a few smiles as they're walking into the warm-up area it's the start of the season they're not quite sure all of the athletes what shape they're in so what a perfect way to test their bodies leading into the world champs later in the year well we just passed the cherry blossom season and the Japanese spring the Sun setting as we mentioned and lots of smiles these athletes as they prepare for the first of two nights of these World relays for some familiar surroundings and others well they're getting a first taste of Japan it's it's crazy I just there are so many teams and so many people and I feel like everyone's just having an awesome time kids you know track is kind of an individual sport so it feels cut it feels kind of lonely at times but everyone just being on their teams and just genuinely having a good time it looks and it feels amazing it's pretty fun I feel like it's less stressful because you get the Alenia teammates and you get to go against multiple countries and racing just represent your country but representing yourself at the same time the opportunity to have teammates and run with other people it's way different to when you run individually it's just it brings you up to another level my first time here so I'm just taking everything up learning as much as I can and of course it's so much fun to just be able to run with your team or not be on your own yeah we don't we don't take none for granted we've still got to go out there you know execute and you know put on the show for ourselves and you know show everybody how good we can be on game day I can eat you up so much thank you very much a British welcome here are the IWF world relays others of course know it a little better this track will kick things off in yokohama though with a world relays first game begin [Music] [Music] game over but this is the game changer and it's the first event of this by double am world relays hope interest straightaway in the starting lineup for this mixed shuttle hurdle is relay a salute from the home support for a Yoko Kimura who will lead off for the Japanese who will go from Lane three soon yo Takayama will then pick up the Australians are in the middle of the three teams taking part in this Brianna pian the New South Wales will get them under way and there's the experienced former Youth Olympic champion and Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Nick Hoff who will go from the other end of the home straight then Jamaica as a muy Brown who will write one hundred and ten meters 100 hurdles and then effectively an extra ten 110 up the other way will come from Andrew Riley 2014 Commonwealth champion so we will see the unusual sight of athletes running right to left on the home straight and then you'll also notice that there is no baton to be handed over there is a changeover zone at the end so a little bit of history coming up at these world relays Lord coat said yesterday the athletes have been calling for this well here we go Japan Australia Jamaica Pete 1 and the first qualifies the way they go looks like it's Japanese with Tamura who made the best start this the first leg remember a boy Brown coming on a little stronger now Brianna being birthplace Australia so stand by for the first change let's watch how this goes away they go with Takayama of Japan it's the home nation who are in front at the moment but there is Andrew Reilly bringing his experience flatteringly on hurdle two in a row he's hit there so it's Japan at the moment as here we go to leg three ioki for Japan but look at the Jamaicans with Megan tapa this is really strong they've taken control of this race in this shuttle hurdles relay and now that your vacants will go for one last leg run of leaving the Commonwealth champion the home straight in front of the fans really hits that hurdle Japan and Australia factoring it out for second and third the first leadership will be the automatic qualifier it's an easy win for Jamaica Japan a second and a stranger a third iwf event and Jamaica are the first winners Wow that was so intense Tony I tell you it was almost just as intense watching what was going on in between because the athletes had to sit their blocks up after the athlete had taken off so it was a pretty fascinating and intense race but the Jamaicans look beautiful they hit a few hurdles and even when that happened if you just have to come out and get the holes up really quickly but you can see a few of the teams are a bit tentative on the changes because they haven't really done it before you know they've practiced it on the warm-up track but first leg you can see being got a great start but in lane one you can see camera that the Japanese athlete who is hurdling very well because she's just on a training camp with Sally Pearson the Olympic gold medalists from 2012 the Jamaicans have beautiful hurdlers to seem routine see with those changes that were just a little bit tentative they sat in the blocks a little bit probably the Australians there and and let can I had the national record holder for Japan just get away there to get that silver medal but you can see Levy who is the Commonwealth Games gold medalist from last year smooth he looked like he had a lot more to give so I think we'll see them pretty strong in the final leave he didn't let an early clatter on his leg actually put him off so there so the winners a boy Browne with plenty to smile about tougher I thought ran really well as well good by the end of her leg that it was pretty clear that Jamaica were going to take victory in this mixed shuttle hurdles relay heat one only one qualifies that's the result Jamaica in 55-47 taking victory ahead of host nation Japan Australia in third the first one in each heat and the next two fastest will advance to the final they enjoyed it don't you the fun is a word we're going to be using a lot over the next couple of evenings Amoy Brown all smiles tonight I'm pleased to see that because she's disappointed with the performance of world under twenties last year The Australian's Bearden who cheat a little bit de pond a little bit to think about well you know Celeste booties a heptathlon for Australia she's a fantastic athlete she's also been hurdling really well she won the national championship in the hurdles she's got a lot of potential I think these guys will just be after the experience giving each other a hug it's quite nice to have the females racing with the males because they don't get to do that a lot and they look like they've all had a great time it's great for you know team bonding for later in the season as well we got a chance to talk to the Australians they weren't sure really how this was got to go how this would play out when we talking about the practice track just a couple of days ago and certainly they were they were enjoying the prospect of taking part the Japanese had that home support as well Camila made a very good start was fast out of the blocks I think was smart by camera she's spent a lot of time down on the Gold Coast training with Sally Pearson and you've seen her from the start of the season she's improved her hurdling techniques she she went on to win the Asian champs in Doha I think she's got big potential moving forward and it's always smart when athletes take the initiative to go and train with another elite athlete to learn as much as they can from the other athletes but she looked really good on that first leg for Japan I wonder what they all thought plenty of smiles in the crowd here tonight we're in the port city Yokohama and in shin-yokohama Park the southwest of Tokyo big port city large population of just under 4 million and Saturday night entertainment for them started with a shuttle hurdles relay that will remember for a while we got one more to come in the heat and then we're still gonna final as well to see but a big view you're on camera yeah the International Stadium stays the football World Cup final in 2002 Rugby World Cup final come here later this year it is a vast stadium hugely impressive [Music] and of course the Japanese have super support from their home crowd here the arrivals its heat - and there will be four teams in this second shuttle hurdles mixed relay some familiar faces from the United States leading them out with shuriken Elvis stare she'll be joined by Queen Harrison Queen she's a character of the Athletics tracks he got married last year of course we everybody knows who's a fan of athletics watching will claim the triple jump at the Olympics in Rio after he won a medal he went up into the stands and he proposed to Queen and they had their wedding last year in October one smile one more focused face at the moment Chinese will be in this second heat as well Martineau Lagarde will be on the dangerous anchor leg for the French Levy run the final leg for the victorious Jamaicans in the first race few moments ago and they've got villa humble ocean as well standing junior athlete most on the scene some five years ago far end of the track the traditional home straight start even just watching the right to left left to right motion was something to kind of adjust to it wasn't well there was a lot of action out there on the track because though we were talking about the athletes who are running in third and fourth have to change their blocks at speed you'd have to practice that on the warm-up track because you know you see athletes as they set their blocks up usually they take their time they've got their measurements it takes time to set your blocks up so they would have had to practice that as well so it's one of those things where not only a way watching and thinking of what is going on so much happening at once the athletes have to be really sharp on little things that they wouldn't necessarily have been sharp on before we see Freddie on on the screen he's running for the America team he wrote runs here tonight after a busy indoor season mara Harrison winner takes all in terms of automatic qualification for the final later the two fastest times in other routes through to the final so the Japanese and the Australians watching very carefully having run 56:13 and 5640 interesting to note as well Tamsin that the Americans haven't seemed to have a little bit more experience they talked about running it in high school they they do this through their high school years so they've had a bit more experience at running this I think that's going to play into their advantage because that changeover without having the onion marks and the gun it's a very different tone of judge and a lot of athletes have spoken about whether they're going to have a verbal call in as they're running past or whether they're going to wait and just go by feel I think I feel the teams I've chosen to go by feel but it's one of those things that you'll learn specifically other teams who haven't done as much as they go alone Lane eight for France the Jamaicans interesting lis have said after their race they didn't mind actually going backwards that you're making women went backwards it didn't really notice the extra ten meters as well hundred meter her was doing 110 meter hurdles they have an extra ten to run the end of their leg want me to change over zone it's also fascinating looking down the track and seeing the females out there with the males because you noticed that there's a big height difference in this event the men's hurdles are so tall that the hurdle is tend to be very tall athletes and the women tend to be a lot shorter so you see them together it's a completely different life different here's the starting lineup that for the second heat and the mixed shuttle hurdles relay the United States on the inside Elvis to Crittenden Crittenden will then run back down the home straight the Harrison that had fought to Noah bring him home China and she Sun wool and zing [Applause] Sang's goal is to be as good as liuxiang he's got his work cut out Guinea 34 entrance a dreamer Nagi Moines boy note remember no button in this led off my Sasha Alice Andreini when she thought champion for the world under-20s last year over the Hermes bears Pelosi and a former world junior champion Martha lower guard right behind him as well the strong team with it they look puffed and ready for this present Crittenden poised and waiting for the hope for arrival of shariq and Elvis settle into their blocks this is heat to the United States China Papua New Guinea and France that we got away well now this has made a good start on the left of the screen improved for the United States at the moment third and fourth with the French Allison 3d passing on the collosseum but already tripping tones got a big lead for the US this is pretty clean hurting at the moment as well what's pretty gliding over them and is a big league for the us from France China third Papa New Guinea one out of it now here comes Queen Harrison Harrison is underway on the third leg as we see the end thereof crittendon's running the u.s. continuing to hold a vaguely for to know well he's absolutely drafted his first hurdle but look at the lead he's got over China you're way back in second so the US are dominant in this one the friction have made up ground on China it's going to be the u.s. lugar comes in second for France China third and Papa New Guinea are still racing and will finish way back in fourth the US took it out went into the lead it was a lead they never gave up and they want me to to qualify for the final 50 509 well that was pretty intense as well it was interesting the officials out there also learning this event as well when Queen Harrison came up to run that third leg for us one of the officials was actually walking out into her Lane so she would have cited the official probably and didn't look like it affected her too much but he had to duck down and make sure that it got all the way because they have to pick up the hurdles that that get claimed along the way but the USA team looked like they were just they've gone in with the goal of making me hurdle is quite safe to change is safe and making sure that they did the job to qualify for the final here it is from the start again very quickly it was about the u.s. really just beautiful hurdle as the US you can see he with credit and he's just he looks quite relaxed he looks like he's not going all out just yet Queen Harrison another lovely technician it's hard to make their team so to be part of this shuttle relay is an honor for them off you can just see there where Fontan and hit that first hurdle again it's one of those things he would have had to set these blocks up so quickly and then weave hurdling you want to pop up and side it so it's probably he's just got to get used to that really rushed format just clip that first hurdle but was able to use his core strength to stay on his feet and get through it coming out of blocks like that if you're in leg 2 3 or 4 it's unlike any other block start you're ever going to do isn't it if there are the results of the second heat of the mixed shuttle hurdles relay the United States a big win for them ahead of France China and third and Happy New Guinea trailing in 12 seconds behind first job of the evening done time for a smile I'm sure Rican Elvis and looking at the times it looks like Australia and Jamaica will have made it through from that sorry Australia and Japan will have made it through from that first peat meeting that France has missed out on the final two fastest to advance only the winners went through automatically Japan on Australia both ran faster times despite finishing one second and third in a three strong field yeah they both go through to the finals later on [Music] let's confirm those qualifiers there on the streets of the United States 50 509 ahead of Jamaica who won the first race and their Japan and Australian came 2nd and 3rd in that opening race also qualify on time and they're back for the final they are the United States look like they're unbeatable don't they and they've also got Devin Allen who's a brilliant hurdle in the US Janet must do is bring into that final let's catch up with Rachel stringer because she's downstairs in the mixed zone and she's got the quartet from the United States with her Team USA dominant victory there in the mix shuttle hurdles in heat two first let me know to the belated birthday girl what are we don't worry your birthday with a win here thank you I appreciate it awesome investors have a little talk about this new event as well and Queen I'm glad you next how difficult is it to change up the starting blocks really quickly it's pretty difficult to change the blocks but I think like when you have teammates that can set you up to be in the front all you worried about is executing your race and that's what we did and a Christian or maybe no baton in a relay actually having to run free cones instead that was definitely a new thing we were trying to decide if we were going to have a verbal cue like like a scream or a shower or if we're just going to watch each other they kind of worked out that we're just gonna watch each other and fill them cross the Foxes own until we go and it's kind of worked out that way absolutely works out as well and I guess them you guys maybe have a bit more experience in this event than others because you do contest it in high school she helped you a little bit yeah I think so just having that have been in the US for high school athletes and also at the collegiate level like at the pin relays that's that's another place where we've run it as well and overall an excellent addition to Championships would you say yes well you have made the final so we'll see you later on good luck well it's a thumbs up from them no Lyle is one of those who will be hearing news of a winning start you might be listening to some of his own music on his headphones though though he likes it at least Wow he just dropped a song he just dropped a new song overnight so I gotta say I do quite like his music bit of Raffi involved and he's a multi-talented door and evening this is downstairs in the call room athletes will leave here five minutes before the gun for their next race see the British quartet standing by to go in the four by four hundred metres first round which is coming up shortly Britain arriving here in a pretty special spell of relay running and Europeans I double AF World Championships as well they've been in Japan for a couple of weeks now climate sizing and getting ready for this world relays because of course there is the qualification issue if you finish them at the top ten look at the host nation Japanese outside the top ten finish here in Yokohama is an automatically place in relays in Doha R at the World Championships coming up at the which is highly important and that's one of the fantastic things about the world relay concept they're putting a little bit more importance on to the realizin and that's fantastic because it's still an event that is a major event where they give out gold medals and Olympics and World Championships so it allows the athletes to practice as a quartet before they get there and then you see look at changes and you're starting to see teams really taking really seriously you can see with the events that we've already seen so far lots of smiles teammate camaraderie I think that's what people want to see they want to see the athletes getting along they want to hear the stories between each other and see the personalities of the athletes coming to life and I think that realizes that is where we get to see that [Music] local crowd in tonight's we saw the Japanese outside I see interesting to see there's a lot of smiles there's a lot of laughing but how much is nervous laughing I gotta tell you for the two by two by four hundred I think there's a lot of nervous because that event sounds very painful same with the four by four but the four by one has that intensity around those changes so I think it's one of those things where you are nervous but you share the Lord with your teammates it does make it a bit easy you speak about those athletes who have ridiculously fast splits but haven't been able to do it in individual races and as a track and field athlete what your coach will always teach you is you run faster when you're relaxed so it's probably actually a good practice for the athletes heading into the season to learn how to run like you run when you're at a relay just on the ice and relax enjoy it out there and you'll find that even if the result will come each nations got their own tented area out there the Australians in the warm-up area are our first sight of some golden battles as well so of course in their shuttle hurdles we didn't see any battles at all we didn't need them but they will soon be on the track enthusiastic crowd in a vast Stadium here in Yokohama you can get in touch with social media as well the hashtag is faster as one and there is the dangerous and polish team just preparing to make their entry into the International Stadium the first of the heats and the 4x4 hundred metres relay [Music] so our next tracks action is about to get underway [Music] so that crowd all ready to see the woman's 4 by 400 meters relay and they enter as one led by Poland who is sure to be a team to watch over the next couple of nights and then a quick burst down the home straight qualification in this four by four hundred meters really the first two of each heat automatically through to the final he'll then take the next two fastest times le beer the sixteen-year-old from Australia I've gotten that group huge group of athletes would you make the entrance there Sampson we bring them all out in one go I quite like it it's kind of like an NFL football Super Bowl isn't it where they come out and to fanfare I think it's great for the athletes especially for young Ellie beer she's 16 years old it's a big occasion for her they have her starting out of blocks for Australia she's with her teammates it's a great first taste of senior international athletics for her she's able to go out there not quite holding hands with some friends but allowing it against the blocks with a bit of support the Australians we mentioned any beer in there Lauren Wells just walked through shot er but you go from the youth and inexperience to great experience at the other end yet the scale for Australia well she's a lot she's running the last leg Lauren well she was talking about retiring at one stage but she decided to keep going and thank goodness she did because at the national chance for Australia which obviously they have there's early in the season because of summer being opposite to the European summer and she broke 55 seconds in the 400 Hills in the first time well the active opponent is justina smithy ascetic who anchor Poland to a cold weather the European Championships is very very experienced that talented they runner s attach is one amazing athlete who Europeans last year was just phenomenal where she won the individual in a personal best of fifty point four one and then two hours later went and anchored that Polish four by four hundred team two gold and I don't know I've heard that she's going to be doing the same sort of thing today where she's running the mix relay as well a bit later but we're seeing how she pulls up from there square she's that last leg for Poland yes she'll be on the anchor but they put a strong team as well because solid kala Vic will lead them off yep she was the national champ for Poland last year she's a 5118 to my name so it's going to be tough to beat those poles they're very strong at the moment we saw a brief shot a few minutes ago of Leah's brother as well as Switzerland European champion what an occasion for a youngster to be out there with all those athletes that you know should be rubbing shoulders with elite athletes Olympic medalists on the warm-up track now the fun of the smiles we saw outside pretty much replaced there by sub tension of nerves most of the 4x4 there's a lot of jostling to position it down boaters as well as can be extremely rough and there's a lot of rules that you need to know in terms of changeover so Amy Allcock of Great Britain cool calm composed face written led off by Zoe Clarke [Applause] and they're right here in some fight for they were second to the world champions a couple of years ago third of the Europeans were on the lead leg Lea stronger look out for her to get Switzerland underway [Applause] there's Belgium with caballo Laos on the opening leg did it lose Cynthia Obama the European silver medalist at injury this morning so I'll blow to their team the egg and ins is Emmeline and xiri on the lead leg [Applause] we've mentioned up the 16 year old le fear on the opening leg for Australia and they still smile Kenya will be in Lane 4 boring titty Thomas and the inside lane in this the first heat will be Poland caramel it will get them under way a three-time European gold medalist in relay so bringing all that experience here to Yokohama under the lights tonight [Applause] it's going to be a fantastic race I think between the two the Polish and the Great Britain's on the outside so you know they've just got to get the job done first to win each cake qualify in the next two fastest so Poland in three Kenya in for Australia in five Uganda in six Belgium seven Switzerland eight Great Britain on the outside lane nine so Zoe Clark will run blind heat one woman's four by four hundred metres relay it's a clean start as well a will look out to see but now the polls on the very inside right at the screen and how Great Britain on the outside with Zoe Clarke will fare in this opening like all run in may remember so the stagger won't be resolved until we get onto the second lap running consistently around that outside the polls have done well Australia with any beer when a stroke first thing as well well up of the Ugandans still the big stagger of course it'll be a while before we really know who's got most brogre looks like she's shadow Clark and just tagged on the back of her all the way home straight for the first time approaching that the first half overs in this woman's four by four hundred meters relay Marco brokerage sprung in there going well also look out for the swisherd lane eight at the change overs made lovely Nelson's away for Great Britain and on the inside the polls are looking very good as well miss kovitch now has the button component at Lane three yeah polyp column that ran a fantastic late mention that he's very strongly so it looks like the polls are going to be out in front at the crossover but you can see La Vie and Nelson has great speed and she's used that to get to the crossover first so that her athlete will be in the first position to grab that baton for the third leg serve Great Britain at the moment with a marginal lead as the polls actually come up the inside and we have mentioned the Kenyans much really soon boa is running this second leg for them it's going wide on the outside in this note straight now as they prepare for the second hand over and it is Poland just starting to stretch out take a lead with this commit Nelson just struggling to keep up a little bit here comes the changeover and the polls will circle that skier away Kenya still keeping pace as well and Amy all cotton has the bat for Great Britain who are in second place at the moment and further back right than the back markers of the Ugandans well if ever Linsky looking very good out there in front of it all clock is an experienced relay runner so she'll know what to do but the cat to shopping me a little bit they're running fantastically there with them in the third in the third position with Akira matira for Kenya they have shown up well Belgium in fourth place at the moment with Poland from Britain coming around on this home straight and of course they will make one last button hand over the last 400 meters remember it is the first two in each needle pala fight all has gone very wide and it's Brittany and Poland with Kenya just trying to keep pace lookout for Switzerland as well and the Kenyans will hand over but look at for the performance we're expecting to see a Justine of sweetie as a Titch now she has all the experience the Gulf metals the experience of a curing she's up against Emily diamond of Great Britain Britain who took the silver at the World Championships in 2017 in a rich vein of form when it comes to relays of world events it's those two at the moment threatening to just sort those two qualification places but look at the performance of Kenya Kenya coming on very strong house mood yoki gone a little too fast britain stretching a world versa teachers still got some work to do as well this is a lot tighter than it looked at the start of this last leg they're bunching up some are being eaten up by the field but it's brittle from Poland at the moment Emily Diamond for Great Britain sweetie editage I think knows she's come to over the second qualification place they're fading behind someone but we'll take it written second those are two automatic qualifiers Switzerland was in fair and fascinating last week that was I think it almost look like sweetie asset each was just trying to make sure that she did expend too much energy so probably told us that she's definitely going to be running on that mix really later in the evening but she knew that she had the talent and the Patel you know if even if they came at her like she was able to sprint over the top but Emily diamonds got her team Great Britain qualified as well and Lea Springer with our Switzerland team we'll have to wait and see if they've qualified on the fastest times I have to watch the next two heats carefully well the Swiss finished really well the Kenyans who'd run so well for three legs really just faded in the home straight the rest of the field consumed them really and the front pair Poland and Great Britain coming through for the victory 328 own 5 and that's Portland's best performance of relatively new season we take a look back from the opening leg it's a hard leg when you're out there in lane 9 so Zoe Clark ran blind for most of her leg specially in with the stagger on four by four you were speaking before about how these changes can get quite rough that one was quite smooth there's three deist she can see on her face how relaxed she is and she's looking up at the screen and she's just making sure that she only does enough to qualify what she wouldn't have realizes that they were coming really strong at her behind and then you've just got to make sure when you do run the four by four if you are down you don't expend too much energy in that first 200 meters and unfortunately I think that's what Mitsuko did when she caught up to them pretty early went flying past but then didn't have enough in that finishing straight yeah it was yo Kiev can you could just see they're running out of gas and it's just allowed the Swiss to storm through Yasmine Geiger there's well barely broken sweat there a smile that 250 meters into that last last leg we just got interesting for a moment I don't think we'll see her doing that in the final Tony I think that she'll make sure that she's out in front she doesn't get herself Boston [Music] they have huge screens here and everyone almost everyone wants to have a look here we go hate to women's 4 by 400 meters relay and France lead them out and accelerate in front of the chileans we've got Germany the United States would be keen to see in this one the Italians Japan and the Netherlands all lining up in a packed second heat where they'll run from lane three through to nine again the USA are always so strong in this event they rarely missed the middle in the 4x4 at a major championships and I think they're going to be one to be here in the 4x4 especially when their ankle leg is Kortney eccolo the results of the first heat of three the women's 4 by 400 meters relay poland with victory and the other automatic qualifier and great britain in second the Swiss have to wait to see they edged out the Belgium's Kenya faded in the end down to fifth squatting a colo she was part of that 4 by 400 relay gold in Rio won the world into a gold medal over 420 in 2018 she's the Texas Longhorn it's a sub 52nd 400 PB it just got so much depth in this event there's a to change in terms of personnel and yet there's still so strong Germans we let up by the home crap the sounds of its benevolences on the anchor her sisters actually here as well I think out of the european chance they had this fantastic video of her and her sister hugging after she won the bronze medal in a national record of fifty point seven seven they're close the sisters they do their training together and both fantastic athletes but she had a really big year last year stepped up to show that she is world class and one to watch leading into the world chance and they only had 60 big share for the japanese sake o yama twenty three-year-old will laid them off it's just part of the occasion before part of the 2015 four by four that finished second in the B final so they know what to expect some nerves on the faces be worried about anyone who wasn't nervous before running on 400 meters pure nerves on the face of the Japanese athletes contemplating a stressful hopefully fruitful three and a half minutes that go into it Tony you have to make sure that you have paste Jasmine's right but we still do it relaxed and use that speed but just never know what you're going to get that last fifty meters just want to hope there's something there and they're watching outside of the warm-up truck as well pausing any preparations looking up on the screens there to see the athletes from this host nation will fare outside late nine they're running blind will be Kapoor of the Netherlands so they made a change because the worker has lead off with pokeball Oh China Japan gets the biggest chair [Applause] there's gigolo of the Italian quarter [Applause] and look out for the us unparalleled unbeaten at world relays J snifter or the leadoff leg Luna over the busy in girl season and now outdoors once the opening leg for the German quartet his Chile Isadora Jimenez [Applause] opening legs pick up the South American under-23 champion here are France they'll run on the inside that Lane three remember for this race have indeed Brasi a the French silver medalists of the European Championships just last year France Chile Germany you know United States Italy Japan Netherlands opening-round second heat women's 4 by 400 meters relay it's a queen started there away and this the second hint of the opening round the 4x4 the women Jade scepter is a strong runner both on the flat and over the hurdles and she's made a very good start running down that back straight for the United States where the Netherlands who change their order have got four on the opening leg running right on the outside but stepped up has made up a lot of ground in this opening quarter meters of the stagger you can see the United States had blue coming into the home straight Netherlands outside with before trying to keep pace there's a lot of support for the Japanese as well on the inside in Lane eight a Yama is getting roared up to the first changeover us looking strong moves further back the Germans and the Chileans are in there too it's the u.s. you hand over first hit any second at Netherlands third by the looks of those half overs [Applause] like there but before was really strong at the back end so she brought Netherlands back into it but it's United States clearly in front as they go to the post over now the break they all come together down that back straight inside the International Stadium whither crowd roaring them on and Jordan lavender the 25 year old from the US with a healthy lead but it's the Italian tour in second with fulla rod so running their second bag and look for florins are to be really strong latches of 400 lovely act like me she comes around the outside of the United States the French are up there as well in third place and ours [Applause] second night and it's a strong finish of the Italians in exchange it's giving us seconds and away Elisabetta bandy the Italian junior record holder and at the moment putting pressure on Joanna Atkins of the United States remember the first two and the automatic qualifiers and on that back straight goes to looking to break away for the rest of the group well the Italians are shocking us they're missing florica a probably there once a spoiler made around a bit there and she's not afraid to be at the lead of the United States of America but look here she comes she looks strong at the back in acnes back in says just watch fatly very carefully at his Manor boo she's not been afraid to go wide and it's the u.s. from a fading Italy the question could be now could the rest of the field catch up the Italians as we go into the last four hundred meters because surfers Olli is going to have a little bit of pressure but the Americans are away with the World Indoor champion courtney of colo now leading them it's a lead that surely they won't catch the Germans are moving right back into the fall now Mergen Tala the 22 year old is on their last leg I think the Dutch going faster this is not over for them as well first to qualify big US lead wow what a difference 200 meters makes a collar looks so relaxed she's the class athlete in this field and she is going to bring this home for the USA one of those things where they like to get good splits because you know they got quality athletes to bring in later but she's easily got this now it's all about who's going to get that all-important second position to qualify for the final well it's all about a Colo that's gonna be the first automatic qualifier but there's a real battle going on for second and third place between the Italians also in there the French if the us who take victory there through the final the Italians have held up really well though to get second automatic qualification the Dutch finish strongly but the French held them off they got third the u.s. Nicolo comfortably through as heat winners in the first round the women's 4 by 400 meters relay Wow we're not shocked by the victors but you could say on the infield they're the Italians were super excited to make it through and qualify for that final was a fantastic leg by florenzo in that second leg for Italy who then managed to make sure that the Italians are in front coming into that third leg and third leg and we wouldn't have expected that before the race it was a great run in there rewarded with an automatic qualifier for that final but Tony the United States didn't they look good well the US serve won all four by four hundred meter IWF world relay events men and women so they're six for six and there's nothing we've seen in that first heat there that suggests that they feel under too much pressure at the moment to defend that title [Music] do so would leave here with victory once again now Atkins for the US ran a really smart lake then she didn't panic with the fact that she probably wouldn't be expected to be down she she ran relaxed to the first 300 and then showed her strength in that last hundred to give him a big lead going into the last leg and I call her she's just a quality athlete and she looked very relaxed there she looks fit not just for this weekend but for the season to come I think we're going to see big things from Courtney Nicola this is how they saw it in the warm-up area USATF the italians behind it that's what relays are about you know sometimes it's not that not necessarily just about those top three positions it's about making the final and the Italians just looked absolutely States because it's not that they've just made the final here it means that they've qualified for Doha for the World Championships later in the year and that's a really really important thing there's a result a u.s. a victory ahead of Italy in the second of the three heats in the four by four one more in this opening round are the fast racks the runners for heat three are onto the track they've been held in the call room they'll have heard some of the cheers and now it's their moment to get their world relays underway this will feature the Canadians who on times are actually the second fastest in the world this year the Canadians shocked a few people in Rio Olympics where they finished fourth you always looked at the star athletes in the 400 meters when you're choosing who your top eight and top million medalist they're going to be a major championships but they've got some quality athletes that come at the 400 from a different angle and one of them is sage what's in here with her trademark red lipstick on her video went viral a tree over 400 hurdles where she winked at the camera she's a tall athlete 5 foot 11 Lima Darcy world on the 20 champion last year with big victory for India in Tampere Finland nicknamed the ding Express she's very popular in India she was she came out last year at the Commonwealth Games as a youngster and nobody was really talking about it leading into the cough games though certainly talking about her when they left the Gold Coast because she made that final and then went on to do amazing things at the juniors and very fast young athlete to look forward christine day will something's off for the Jamaicans Jamaica dropped the baton in 2017 it was all set up for a big battle between the US and Jamaica in the Bahamas materialized too many planes which we've had overs in 4x4 it's less likely to see a drop but it does happen yeah to be fair over the history of the Jamaican women's 4x4 they've actually had quite a few disqualifications for weird reasons I remember in 2002 second to first second two thirds stood on the first the second stood on the shoe and the athletes stopped and didn't actually finish the race so they've had a few problems in 2006 Commonwealth Games they dropped the baton as well so let's hope that they get that baton around and because they also have one of those teams it's going to be competitive against the USA in the final I was referencing for by what did you make you actually dropping the batter did 2017 but you don't tend to see a lot of mishaps in the 4x4 with the baton that's more with lane infringement sore standing in the wrong positions but yeah Jamaica's had a few problems in the past at world indoors and at the outdoors for Commonwealth Games but they have a quality lineup here and they also have a lot of depth to come into the team if necessary so they'll just want to get the job done here get that button around safely and make sure that they're in that final to compete with their arch enemies over so many championships the US u.s. fastest in the world this year I saw an idea in the opening race what they could do so now it's over to this group on the outside China led off by food Neville Asian champion of 2015 you Jenny yang to do the a Kurt the Ukrainians Hyuk is on the opening leg the experience risk over on their anchor about for the the irradiance of multiple national champion this is Katie you seen 80s on the opening leg christine day fourth of the World Championships in 2015 a ruling gold medalists the world championships leads off the Jamaicans not said anything yet about Nigeria nations oh god George it's my support worthless to the African Championship is on the opening leg for them on the first 400 from Lane five it made for there is he mad ass India's first track medalist to the global athletics event and Tampere Finland last year at the world under-20s whose mayor VK of their anger and the Canadians as you mentioned fourth in Rio they've been at the Penn Relays in the United States recently my Stevens is on their opening leg sage Watson very good hurdler news on the anchor leg for the Canadians called to the blocks for the final Heat the opening round the women's 4 by 400 meters relay Canada in three India for Nigeria five Jamaica six Lithuania seven Ukraine eight are away look out for das and also the before was a Christian day who's really in Lane six for Jamaica vest the most strong start be made on the inside by player Stevens has gone up very quickly on the youngster he mad ass on the outside China and dispute radiance with Gillian 423 Road just pressuring down a little bit yes yet to offer too much a response to most even to the right-hand side of the screen the Nigerian are comfortable with George just outside it received a big stagger of course on this opening day to the outside Ukraine character handover may be urged off by those runners ready to go so watch out who makes that first and on the inside the Canadians were looking good Jamaica and Nigeria making progress and dassit mate a good finish for the Indians as well so they go over to the back straight now they'll break and this is the point where the field will shake down a little the Canadians are trying to hold that inside line and it's Madeleine price for Canada the daughter of a professional race car driver and she's looking good out there in front it was a very strong first leg out there but Madeleine Chrysler Canada looks fantastic with Jamaicans right on her tail chance salmon double medalists the world under-20s for Jamaica is in second and a move being made by the Athenians on the outside as well the Indians have faded somewhat and it's a good healthy Canadian lead at the moment as we go into the next nap over to Canada from Nigeria and Ukraine enchants salmon from Jamaica really tight there in the last 40 meters of her leg so she's given a lot of work to do - Tiffany James for Jamaica on that third leg for them but it still Jones out there in front of keep from Canada she's looking very relaxed nice and calm the Nigerians are also looking quite relaxing closing that gap as we speak front group of four at the moment remerge the first two qualified that you make it entertaining on fear as well and the Canadians holding to that lead that they've had rights is to start watch out for Ukraine because they've got risk over European Championships silver medalist in relay and her day still to come on their final leg the Nigerians tiring badly but Ukraine finishing strongly and it's the last 400 the last handover and here goes saige Watson for Canada and the battle line set now with an arrest over of Ukraine so it's those two but probably the big question is can the Jamaicans catch them through Cossack court she's looking good isn't she she's used all her speed to get onto the back of them it's just whether you use too much to catch up too early but she looks pretty comfortable they're in third position at the moment but their quality athletes in front of her so she's gone away to make sure that she has a clean run around them but she looks like she has but safe Watson will try to go before to give it to the four hurdler so she's going to be strong coming home she's gone almost inside to out Watson there because she needed to find a line on rich cobras they come into the home straight first three qualified we've got three going for this in the moment it's risk over if you pray holding on to the lead further back the Chinese have run a good leg Ukraine Lee gonna take it can you make a cat Canada can calendar hold on for the second place Ukraine take it Canada second Jamaica third that you make until have to wait on time but it's Ukraine we were at a very very consistent race and they had the experience of risk over to bring them home to victory in that the third and final heat in this first round of the women's 4 by 400 meters relay well the Ukrainians were disqualified in the Europeans last year but they certainly made easy work of that didn't they didn't rush Cova look fantastic in that back end of the upper lid she's better known as a 400 hurdler and we do often talk about 400 hurdle as being strong in the last hundred meters of a 400 but she opened up her stride beautifully and looked like she might be in for a cracker season sage hwachun got the job done on the last leg for the Canadians what a surprise the Jamaicans they were right they didn't get that automatic qualifier but I mean it was pretty fast and it was very tight across that line so I'm pretty sure that they'll be safe to get through to the final and I'm tipping that we'll see some changes for that final lineup tomorrow three 2880 was the Jamaican time and by all reckoning they are there they qualify by virtue of that third place finish and Mel New York for Ukraine was one of the big differences for that team on that third leg she really pushed hard over the last 120 to make sure that she passed on but to put them in a great position to get that qualification but here we can see just how beautiful Rosa Cova was when she's opening up look she can tell she's tired but she uses those long legs very effectively opens up her stride smile across the face teammates are happy job done qualified for the final and they look good when you've done your bit and you can only watch hope is the main emotion and it's brought smiles because Ukraine take victory there in 327 71 the Canadians very very good from Mayor Stevens to get them off to a really strong start running on the inside with the whole field in front of her [Applause] let's confirm the result from heat three women's 4 by 400 meters relay victory for Ukraine in 327 71 just ahead of Canada the Jamaicans do take the qualification with third place based on time in 328 80 [Music] I mentioned qualifiers on time you'll see the list here this will be the final for the women's 4 by 400 meters relay the United States quickest by sub distance Ukraine Poland Great Britain Canada and Italy are joined by the Jamaicans in the Swiss [Music] we've got the women now we have the men for by 400 meters relay the first round coming up on track and the United States who have won every world relays four by four they were involved in one of the more thrilling finals in the Bahamas a couple of years ago new look team qualification first two of each heat and then the two fastest time so it's the same as all the women Noah Lyles what a star in Diamond League he's been that's his brother Josephus who we first saw burst on the scene and win a relay medal in 2014 in Eugene [Applause] yes he's part of that USA junior record team that just a tick over three minutes talented family their parents both did track and field so no wonder their children are superstars in track and field so Martin Rooney 10 major championship medals for Britain he'll run the anchor leg rubber Yousef is going to run the opening leg for Britain vastly experienced medal winner at major championship Pawel Maslak very very good well to endure 400 meter runner with three golds in the past but still runs a decent relay League and he's a handyman after the Czech Republic really strong this heat Jamaicans are in there as well it's a really tough heat really tough had a lot of the power countries over the four by four hundred for recent years or in this heat so look for it to be very fast a lot faster than I think some of them would have wanted to do in a qualification round those all the other leg runners mixture of emotions on those spaces something composed some stretching just sizing up the opposition as Paul did oh oh he's an interesting one he's not like a lot of the other USA athletes he started his athletics at 17 didn't break the fifty-second barrier until 19 he didn't break the 47-second barrier till 24 and it didn't become world class he says till he was 27 and says on that that all his life he's been playing catch-up but he's finally caught up ranked fourth in the world the US have Strava miles Delaware Giovanna Hutchison there is demisch gate Jamaica 20:17 World Championship finalists which was a big boon for him considering he missed the 2016 Olympics through illness made up for it by making it to London London the British team Quartet inside the stadium and their teammates outside 25-strong the British team that's here and Martin Rooney the man always for the major moments ten major championship medals for him 20:19 indoor Tour champion Nathan Strava on the opening leg for the US but from the outside big challenge ahead of these Australians you feel this is Alex back on the lead off Steven Solomon's on the anchor for them the Czech Republic young teas are paddle magic will run the leg too Kozinski will do the anchor for them he is Great Britain robber Youssef the 32 year old greeting for the camera a place to put your baton when you don't need it doesn't forget it's there [Laughter] now the italians seen the celebrations already for their team performances danielle courser there's good support inside the stadium for them here sevillio on the anchor leg for them now jamaica with demesia game we were talking about a little earlier Nathan Allen Rios silver medalist for the Jamaicans you perform so well in Brazil as a u.s. untouchable it seems so far at least in world relays [Music] Strother on the opening leg there's a lot of young talent in this race I'm looking forward to seeing how nathan allen elaine blue from bloomfield go in the jamaican team they were second and third in those really strong NCAA championship 400 2018 us Jamaica Italy Great Britain Czech Republic Australia its lanes three to eight and this is heat one men's four by four hundred metres relay in Yokohama off to a clean start Yusuf was out of the blocks and really into a drive basin very quickly the Australians with Alex Beck trying to get a good start running flying on that outside to make her with demesia game looking very calm and composed and of course the United States has Nathan Strava right on the inside gay has gone out well for Jamaica making up some ground on the Italians Daniel courser with a little bit of work to do Brown on this Bend into the home straight the front straight in the stadium and the Australian Swift Alex Beck is blowing hard now and look at the Americans with Nathan Strava left the pitcher is too strong leg from them and eventually the Czech Republic and Britain up there the first half over though is us to Baker Brooke looked like they were vying for second place Dwayne Caron that past the battle for the British Akeem Bloomfield for Jamaica and Scherzer it's loyals is a way for the u.s. well Joseph is Lyles is out there in front is the five meters of the crossover but Jamaica is coming strolling and Great Britain looks fantastic out there in the third position but it's the race is on in the US look pretty strong out there strain yet keeping themselves in the conversation Tyler gun is up on the shoulder Duane Cowan which is runner for Britain of the relays in 2017 but he's just been overhauled by Tyler gun who's on the second deck for Australia at the front though strong finish to this length from Akeem Bloomfield of Jamaica they hand over first the US are in second the batter now with Poole Delaware for the United States just behind Jeff on Francis a real a silver medalist from 2016 Jamaica from the US Britain in third with young Cameron Chalmers now in possession of the baton as they head down the backstraight for the quality athletes out there in first and second Francis and did overlooking brilliantly out there nice and relaxed they know that the job is to get those first two qualification points but they can't ease off because Great Britain is breathing down their necks usually just laboring a little bit for the Czech Republic with a bit more the shoulder of the British the Americans coming back to go to the handover it's the US that got really strong there and now it's Devon Hutchison to take the anchor for the US who extended the lead in the last hundred meters about third leg the Jamaicans with Nathan Allen where they can TriCaster but also they can consolidate the front two positions here u.s. from Jamaica still making a race of it but what's going on behind and there's Martin truly a Great Britain moving past the Czechs and the Italians coming to it got really rough there for Martin where you got checked really badly to go back by the Czech Republic but you cannot write him off he runs fantastic last legs for the Great Britain team first two places of the automatic qualifiers has really got the next attempt to try no all the Jamaicans I'm not sure he will at this occasion it's the us who are going to bring it in with Hutchison Jamaica are going to get second those two automatic Rooney third or straight UK through before the Czechs pip and the Italians run out of it down into sixth so the u.s. again the team to beat whether it's a heat whether it's a final they stay on course and they remain big favorites in this men's four by four hundred meters Strava miles dead awara and Hutchison with victory for the US in 302 oh six that man Rooney made a real go of it at the end for the Jamaicans take second yeah it was pretty rough out there on some of the changes which you expect in men's 4 by 400 the time probably a little bit slow but you know it's early in the season and the u.s. just wanted to make sure that they got that job done which they do so well so often but you know the teams that we expected to qualify in first and second Great Britain finished really strongly strongly in that last hundred with Martin Rudy but steps Parliament was on that last week for Australia and looked fantastic he was a eighteen year old when he qualified for the Olympic final in 2018 but we can see the Jamaicans coming past for this change it looks so relaxed when they're running out there I just think that they knew that they just wanted to get the top two through you can see with the times that you know sub three is pretty strong that's what they're after in in men's four by four and they that they look like they knew that they were the top two qualifiers to get through and they look pretty relaxed but there's always that bragging rights on the line you want to make sure that you if you can you do get that that that victory and Hutchinson look pretty happy to take that room yeah a little bit of symbolism in raising that baton as the likes of Noah and his teammates celebrate that up in the stands that was a little nod with a baton to them hey guys we're doing our bit and we're through to the final the results of the first of the three heats of the men's 4 by 400 meters relay the US and Jamaica the two automatic qualifiers Great Britain lead the group will have to wait the sea - Martin Rudy's fourth leg [Applause] there's some familiar faces out of the truck next a huge roar for the Japanese wall shamoto Sato and Wakabayashi [Applause] recent winners at the Asian Championship Kintaro Sato there will be on the third leg for them tremendous support Julian woods fifth in the Asia Championship to the individual event on opening leg the Belgians with the ball lays to ball a brothers in this week just sort of little glimpse there of the hugely talented Jonathan succour as well I actually think Belgium's change might have changed them I could only see Dylan ball a out there at the moment yes indeed it looks like Dylan ball a is out there but there has been intensely changed I don't think Jonathan boule is out there no it looks like he's been what's right let's go what trends yeah what trends come in interesting well I mean the Belgium's are pretty strong in there for for hundreds these days I think lent very strongly by the ball a family you've got secure on the far on the screen at the moment who's a up-and-coming athlete that maybe the difference for that Belgium team to try and get them in top three positions at a major terms they always finished fourth or fifth it's heartbreaking oh it's heartbreaking Lee close so he may be the difference for that Belgium team but they are maybe that's what they're doing they're just trying out a few other athletes to make sure that there's some depth involved leading into not only the world chance but it next year well what should they have no concerns he's experienced before know who's won gods at European Championships before but that is an interesting change as we look at the Japanese now and we have Julian Walsh as you were speaking about before who runs things thanks for the son of a reggae drop on the manual world we've got rid them in his veins good athlete all eyes on the screen outside probably Japanese teammates and there is Julian Bush big moment for him in that the International Stadium here good practice for the home nations when you're leading into major chairmanships to get used to the crowd cheering for you on being very focused on you so this is fantastic for the Japanese athletes to practice what they're going to be you know a little bit of what they're going to be experiencing at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium next year the Germans [Music] thirty I think I think they've got a change as well the Germans from their lineup Schneider isn't there instead of Marvin Schlegel well let's run through them on the outside it's the Germans they're in Lane eight come on we've got a little sneak preview of the Belgian lineup as well there is the French there in Lane 7 good to see you bro I'm back for fitness and racing Indian quartets are in Lane six return pure cow will be on the opening leg for them rakia Rajeev full anchor his Columbia national record holder Bernard open lawyers is in the opening leg love seeing the personalities come out the real dream of Japan get a few draw ancient champions the flags flying for them inside the stadium in Yokohama and the famous Belgian brothers of the ball is represented by Dylan for the opening leg they've replaced Jonathan though with Julien watchin on the 3rd and look out for succour who will run the anchor very very talented just remind you the Germans who have made a change we've got with Schneider following on from Mark Hawk the 2017 German Indoor champion Belgium and three 2-pam for Columbia five India six France seven Germany eight all set now and in their blocks ready for the second heat opening round of the four by four hundred meters relay the men until they tries hard on the inside leg but lane three for Belgium he's got at home runners up in front of him the Germans on the outside remember just have to run hard and they won't know too much of what's going on the support in the crowd is for Julian Walsh though and the momentum and the atmosphere here is driving even he's gone out brilliantly it's way past the Colombians and the Indians Japan have started well McKenney hold that together his last hundred the Indians were back at the moment Germany being put under pressure by a strong first leg here for a Bauer Eber across very powerful last 200 that is the French handing over first is the Japanese segment and as they head to the back how to break off that's what [Applause] Frances come on in moto went out like a rocket for Japan and rolled on down that back straight he's run a sensational first 300 meters or so France hit second but the victim he's in third the wall the fur together Lakes in a moto when he's going to hand over with a Japanese lead and away they go it's chateau next three to Belgium to be quite about between second and said look out for the French coming back strongly as well as they head over that back straight and the norms ratchets up again [Applause] through the first 200 meters tested now stay relaxed and hold on because you know going to be finishing strongly here well these the moments at the Japan coming down to this home straight there's only one more hand over only four more runners the Belgians in the French it's a ding dong back between those two for second place secondly we the automatic qualifier and the Japanese she double mentalist in doha recently in the Asian Championships and now he's gonna big Lee as he takes to paddle down that back straight on the final leg and the Belgians have now pulled away to take second and secure looks very comfortable there well they certainly had the crowd on his shoulders but you cannot tell him looks very relaxed to the face he still got ten meters on secure the fast finishing Seguros a very big talent for belgium succour is ghosting up watch him there he will be aware with the size of the screens in this stadium and wearing is on that hot streak when are we going to get a Japanese victory in this first round in this second heat we are the Japanese on their feet because Wakabayashi will bring them load stroke fitness from the bridge but said work on it the second place in the automatic qualifying but the cheers ring out Japan victorious here in Yokohama and they're off to the final with huge support behind them well how exciting was that did Matt get the crowd on their feet it's always fantastic to see a Japanese team in their home environment the crowd has just gone absolutely nuts for this quartet they looked fantastic I think they all just ran way above themselves and that's what a home crowd can do but watch these four they definitely look like they have a heading into those Olympics next year they're very appreciative of what the crowd did for them because it's slow they should I feel like they gave them an extra couple of seconds up their sleeve was it Walsh fantastic out of the blocks I was just gonna say I mean the tote was set if ever you want to set a tone from the off did it with Walsh a fantastic first leg it's always difficult it's such a big stagger you can go out too far so you could really lose it towards the end but that quad set there with victory Japan and Belgium the qualifiers certainly ran a low 302 and just see in Japan run 302 55 so you know it's not out of the ordinary to speak about them you know being very close to the USA tomorrow in this final so hopefully we get a heap of Japanese crowd behind because it's going to be one of the favorite events now I think along with that men's four by 100 where the home crowd has got a lot to cheer for look how relaxed he is running home he's got those big windmill arms and he looks so tired but he's just throwing those legs out beautifully it's a bit messy at the end because he is so tired but I enjoy it you don't get to experience a home crowd atmosphere like this where you cross the line first a lot so what a fantastic effort by the Japanese [Applause] they were pleased with it outside as well confirmation of the results of the second of the three heats of the men's four by 400 meters relay Japan roared on to victory ahead of Belgium the automatic qualifier in second at the moments Great Britain and Jamaica watching carefully because they have possession of the two automatic or non automatic qualifiers based on times they at the moment ahead of this third heat will go through to the final [Applause] third and final heat that and the runners out on the track the Bahamas have withdrawn which is disappointing Stephen Gardner was going to be running that anchor leg but because it is so early in the season some of the athletes as they're warming up at that intensity that they wouldn't have done for quite a while can feel little niggles it's a long season and they probably want to protect their bodies a little bit but it's hard when you're letting down your relay teammates isn't it the polls with last charts qiraji loose key will be on their second leg at which in ski we'll pick up the battered from it before handing over to Sydney for the all-important fourth and final anchor leg but perhaps the story here trinidad and tobago world champions 2017 sure to be keen to stay top of the tree edged out the United States in London they have some super talent in their lineup before Cedeno is going to be anchoring that team world championship victory he will be the anchor gem Richard predict just talent he's 200 meters at that world champs was just fantastic and then he went and ran that 4x4 leg where who I was sort of thinking on how's he going to go you know you drop it 200 runner into a 4x4 it doesn't always pay off but it certainly paid off for them he ran an absolutely fantastic leg that had most people talking about whether he should step up to the 400 but he's got great speed and he's always handy if he can drop in a fast 200 runner who's also able to finish off that 400 and he Richards won that come off Games gold medal well they didn't cross the line first City last year 2018 200 meters I'm after shoes was disqualified he picked up the gold medal but Cedeno is the was fourth in Rio the Olympics his quite a 4401 Peavey I'm tipping he'll really desperately want to drop under that 44 because not a lot of men have dipped under that for you can highlight there just to those who are new to track and field just just what a pace you're putting off there well I think currently 18 men I mean don't quote me it's it's around that mark I've only ever dipped ever in the history of track and field under 44 and he's got a 44 tie one he's a quality athlete and this trinidad and tobago lineup most countries would be happy with one of them but they've got four quality athletes the South Africans are going through a very good spell in sprint running mm-hmm excelled at a number of national championships Junior Championships around the world in recent years and Gardea Isaac's is on their opening leg there he is until he does before he races he watches videos of wait van niekirk the world record holder from South Africa and the 400 meters just to get a little bit of inspiration what are you hoping to see him back to full fitness of performing in a world championship year so the South African to the outside lake now in Lane seven here are China in six with faint leading them out oh yeah and then whoo yak whoo on the anchor leg the Netherlands Terence a guard is on the opening leg [Applause] that deep end will take the force here they are world champions from 2017 bill that led Dori the multiple medalists World Indoor Championships Richards Guevara and of course Cedeno complete their team the polls will be dangerous in Lane three cover lock on the opening leg with Zalewski pazsitzky and zippy polls are the typicals you know when you drop for athletes who are paper don't necessarily look like the first is for you put a baton in their hand the Polish team got fantastic history in four by four hundreds even they held the world record in the world it in the indoors with the four by four when they took down the u.s. in in 2018 quality team certain final Heat Poland it's free Trinidad and Tobago for Netherlands five China six South Africa seven that five teams sent going for the two places in the final China dead off by Feng they brother fourth fastest four by four hundred meters relay this year strong start from trinidad-tobago land aureus gone out well and his overhauled Terrence a guard who will have felled him on the shoulder they've seen him go right past him on the outside the South Africans running blind remember nobody outside him Lane eight for them with the Bahamas withdrawing sogar do Isaacs it's got a lot of real estate behind him and he won't have the clearest of ideas although the screens are fantastic he gets in the left of our screen trim it out of run a very strong first like though they hand over first and on the outside it was South Africa in second place that's a hamburgers with dick Kali and Trinidad Tobago now with two Richards as they head down that back straight off the break tobago have this race under control they know they've got quality to come and they've just hit the front and they look so relaxed you can see here Richards almost look like you're in second gear opposed to the South African behind he looks like he's working really hard to latch on to the back of trinidad and tobago will he push up and go past I don't think dream which is going to live which it's looking composed and comfortable at the moment its front pair of Trinidad Tobago and South Africa the others have got some work to do the polls tiring a little bit the chinese finishing strongly Tobago he's out on leg three with Peter Cook Roddy of South Africa now with a bit of work to do if he said keep him in his sights but the front peg quite clear but the Chinese now starting to press down on the accelerator the others as well trying to make up some ground including the Dutch you can see the tail of the trailer and tobago have in when they get the baton they're able to use their acceleration to get a Pandy leg and then they're just relaxing that third hundred just to make sure they leave something in the tacks tomorrow South Africa welcome Roddy I think has run a pretty intelligent leg here he was steady he didn't charge off chasing Guevara too much but by that home straight remember Louise shoulder final changeover Sidonians got it for Trinidad Tobago in South Africa in second we've got one e now taking up the baton those two well clear and it will be up to the others really to try and run a really good last split to force their way through on time because it looks like Trinidad Tobago South Africa then I have this won't wrapped up unless were of China it's not something very special obviously but I haven't seen anyone look around at the start of a 4x4 change but Cedeno has shown that he really doesn't want to do too much he is just making sure that he holds off South Africa to get that qualification but he looks very comfortable really good example of holding the curb there wasn't on the inside just found a little bit of pressure so Dania is going to bring the world champions home though Trinidad Tobago will secure automatic qualification they'll win this third and five from the Trinidad Tobago from South Africa it was the Dutch who came through with that deepen to take third place 305 dead the winning time and Cedeno he looks like he process it looks like he was just going out for a Saturday stroll he looks very comfortable I'm sure he's hurting a little bit more than he's showing us but that's the quality of the athlete he's able to just make sure that he gets the qualification done Hanny looks very relaxed the four of them looks so relaxed they're a quality team and it's just fantastic to know that they've qualified for the final we're going to have a great head-to-head drop into Japanese it's going to be a fun race yeah 302 49 in fact was the winning time for Trinidad and Tobago South Africa 302 70 73rd to the Netherlands 304 xxx is one of the things we'll keep an eye out as we take a look at some of these handovers which are pretty smooth and comfortable for the front teams they're South Africa around brilliantly I thought Isaac's had a fantastic leg in first he's only a youngster but he was so super relaxed and I tell you if he is watching wait van niekirk races before he heads out to run he's following them pretty well because he did look relaxed and he was up there in that first change and he was a big reason as to why those four South Africans made it through to the final just then will confirm it in a moment but I think also the British and the Jamaicans are going to be happy with the result of that peat here is the result of heat three the men's four by four no meters relay victory for the world champions Trinidad Tobago at 3:02 49 ahead of South Africa the Netherlands back in third in that five-stroke field here in the qualifiers led by the defending world relay winners the United States 302 o six was the fastest qualifying time it could be a battle between them and Trinidad and Tobago good news of Great Britain and Australia they also qualify [Music] [Music] for by 100 metres relay up next on the track and we've got some great contests to watch in the next few minutes [Applause] let's confirm the qualification to be the first to dg2 fastest runners up and we'll go through [Applause] [Music] to stack first heat which includes the likes of trinidad-tobago the United States Brazil the polls should be dangerous too with the European Indoor champion Eva Svoboda on their anchor leg the Japanese will have tremendous support we've already seen how much noise there is inside this stadium [Music] [Music] there's the first of the three heats [Music] a great South African potent Japan USA Brazil Trinidad survey get up all in this one two years ago story the four by one's really Germany upstaging the odds both the US and Jamaica body voted the final shakedown the Germans winning it now sorta thoroughly Swoboda is a fantastic starter when she comes out of the blocks but of course she'll be but she has got great acceleration when she's away she's been a real star in Polish athletics emerging in recent years well I'm delighted to say that joining me in the commentary box thompson's just gone for a time out and I got Gail Devers with me he's an idol AF ambassador this week for this event and Gail well I could run through all your achievements with the US but five-time I know but I have world champion a three-time Olympic champion hurdles and flat we're looking at either Swoboda of great young talent at the moment it's great to see you here how much you enjoying these world relays so far I am having a ball this this is what track and fill is to me you know I look forward to doing the relays just because it's that fun event and it's the excitement so I can't wait to see what they'll do before by one I was excited to see the the shuttle mix shuttle hurdle relay earlier in that just got me going now you'll have to remind me in a few minutes time to come back to to talk about those shuttle okay I want to know how much you would have loved to but yourself yes as a brilliant sprint herder we're looking at the lineup though and the athletes getting ready just talk me through what this these moments used to be like for you as you are getting ready to race the crowd is getting all excited the PA is going around you zoning in zoning out what's happening well you know the crowd gets you excited because you want to get out there you want to perform well because they want to see a good performance and you know depending on what leg you're at first leg is always like okay I gotta me I got to get out the blocks I gotta set the relay off to a good you know a good pace and for me I was either second or anchor so for me it was about getting my mark and making sure I give a good target that's the main thing get that good target don't look behind don't stop get the baton and just go just how much does your training come into because in the in the all the cut and thrust of a four by one in particular it must be very easy for it all to just go away at the last minute well you know training is important it's hardly like for the US I know we didn't get together a lot like you have like the Postini russians team those teams actually work together a lot on their handoffs we get together and it could be different people at different times but your training comes in to a point because you're in shape you're ready to go well here's the lineup for this first of the three four by 100 meters relays and on the outside trinidad and tobago have Kamaria Durant's on the opening leg Lane eight will be the Brazilians undressed for Dallas Martin's Kruszewski of Rosa Kazuki's a South African record holder over the short 60 meter distance indoors the car Briscoe of the United States a very strong collegiate performer in the last couple of years and the support outside from the US team we're watching here are the Japanese big draw for them attaboy it's a huge stadiums that they're doing their best thing ever right behind their country would Camila Seba of Poland get them underway in Lane five the South Africans Rose tea times in Thomas about two of the anchor the inside lanes now bana fatih cedar of Ukraine [Applause] and the inside lane is actually going to be laid to so they go to tonight and it's China yak who will run the opening would smile would they do with the cameras came up to try to think back the camera came up close-up did you always go for the big smile I did I think I always have my game face on yeah you look so mean I'm like this is my job it's lovely that you're smiling here right now we're all calm in the comedy books they may not be down there though because here we go first of the three heats for by 100 meters relay China Ukraine South Africa Poland Japan USA Brazil Trinidad and Tobago stand by star as well us out in date seven gone out fast Briscoe 2017 collegiate champion first hand over now far side we Americans away let's drinking at that far side Vaishali I of the outside of $99 grill profits of the Brazilians in there for the Americans are clean again Desiree O'Brien now the hand over to the lay ahead they've got the big league could seat back down the field China gone but it's the United States streaking away the United States from Brazil he was a full attack down the field the US take it Brazil second Trinidad and Tobago Savoy Hackett comes in in third the u.s. very impressive and we're hops one subtitles last year there could be some titles for the u.s. in these world relays pops bringing the United States in in 42:51 a convincing victory the Brazilians with roser on the anchor coming through in second just over the 43 second mark Trinidad Tobago third China were the one nation who didn't get the baton round and the South Africans fell on the final Bend as well and so Galle not surprisingly so take a look back through some of the highlights of this race there's a there's a fair bit of chaos that happened before by what it is let's take a look at just some of these big moments this is the home straight see a South African fall there the Chinese had already looked drop the battle the Americans very good they look good on the third hand off good good time they missed it once and they had to go back and get again but the key is to not panic Poland is worth we watch on the center of the screen swaboda the hand over here the hands out and the buttons never received so that trial were happening inside lasted a hands up into the face first Robo de so the three Hobbs Rosa Hackett the three who managed to navigate the the final handovers well we talked about the pressure before girls it was cheering them on they're impressed with that performance of the US courts you know they were I saw them practicing yesterday they were you know into it so not surprised I'm glad that they're I like that that we have new talent coming out and you know we have to keep that dollar that's going for the u.s. we're gonna focus as well this is polish handover and take a look at this in a moment to look at the victorious Americans there and just where where this change over look at them they're Eva Eva is tears of joy at the European endorse from her this year tears of sadness here at the Far East she never got the chance and that's the thing you don't get the chance to to perform and you're ready for it you know and that chance has taken away it does it gets to disappointment for Eva Swoboda she would have fancied her chances as well of being able to push forward in that last hundred the South Africans are smiling but it was a disappointing finish for them in the end as well earlier the race we lost the Chinese even saw the Brazil their second hand off they missed and she had her hand back the one thing is that she didn't give up she you know when when you missed the first time you supposed to just keep going and they did and they were able to get back in and come up in the second place of course there is a changeover zone which is now all into being condensed into 130 meters own but something that a lot that we looked at after a race just to make sure the change overs were all legal as well I mean there is so much to think about took me through the polish hand over here this is the last one what do you see Oh so if you look at where her arm is you know usually there's like the the push the the up the hand the hand up down or the push and her hand was actually to the side so it's kind of like hard to have the incoming runner give the baton we always say that outgoing runners part is just to give a good target you don't have high eyes behind your head so if you miss that first one you just got to keep your hand up and keep going well the target serving certainty for the result is the United States taking victory from Brazil the we'll be among those waiting to see if they can get through on time in 4367 here come the athletes or he too will see the likes of Canada France Nigeria Great Britain in this one girl you talked about the hand though there's there as well it's something that if you watch a lot of relays you'll see that different nations have traditionally done different things that push technique seems to be most popular now what it used to do what you were doing it for the US we did the hand down palm up we're and people always laugh say like this you guys do that because of your nails I'm like well no but I was I taped my nails up and tried to really give a good target so you just pop it in and it's automatically help helps your hand to close as crystal of whooaaa fine performer at the world under-20s last year yes there's the up sweep the down sweep okay different nations are couple different things often the Europeans have done different things but we've seen a lot of the push where we basic the baton is vertical effectively as its as its handed over and that's see these data teasers that is the cleaner way seems like that's the cleaner way and people are doing that mine was back in the day it has my daughter says I love watching you know now being a spectator and not being out there it's it's interesting to see their faces like well we like that I guess we were when you watch like you do now do you think back to what you were doing in the same situation that do you ever think you know what if I had my time again with you never will I do something in the build-up differently do you does it constantly when you watch these athletes out here does it constantly make you think back to your day I don't I don't think back I just kind of watched them I've become a fan of my sport and really sitting here and just kind of watching them I wonder what I did it's hard to remember yeah you mentioned there is showing you that you mentioned the nails the famous they're shorter names bring about that they're shorter I just cut them actually usually when something significant happens in my life I could have I just lost my brother a couple months ago so I cut them so they're growing back they'll be back by next year well this is considered short miss splendid as ever there's a pretty good Mouser to the green I suggest they belonged to judo Gabrielle of Nigeria well I mentioned the teams you got coming up here Canada Great Britain Ghana Thailand Denmark France and Nigeria you got any early insight on what you might do we might some be looking out for in this one I'm curious to see what actually I'm curious to see with Nigeria and Great Britain are going to do it's hard to say you got Canada it's it this is you know there really is one of those because of the baton handoff anything can ever so you can have your favorites or those that you think but if they don't get a good handoff it could take it goes out Canadians with Farrah Jake's on the lead leg mentioned Britain they got an experienced group Asha Philip Desiree Henry Ashley Nelson I do like that I just saw Great Britain as she was coming out she gave a gave a handoff you know kind of gave a good target so you know what they're going to do as Nelson they've changed their lineup actually Great Britain from the from the published from the published lineup the British in the four by one have been mother to changes to these lineup is actually going to be on the leadoff leg let's take a look at who we got out on the outside it's lay nine Nigeria Gale just mentioned I got to see how they get on running blind in nine array of France in Lane eight inside lane eight will be the Danes with Astrid Lana Frandsen [Applause] wait this is Thailand chatter takes the leadoff leg us topping the seasons list head of Charlie Jamaica but it is early in the season Penn Relays have taken place recently that's the guardians with the multiple African medallist packet Pont leading them off here's Great Britain Crystal Award a big talent for the future and a big stage for Crystal to perform at [Music] Farage X of Canada a broad smile we're actually all game faces hear that Gail they're mixed we've got some more serious Stern that would have been something I would have had to learn to smile got these presentations as well when they come out now from behind if it's screens and things as well yeah I have to see what you're right I hope you would have used it nails in your pose it would have had to be nothing with it okay second heat Gail Devers joining us here in the Coventry box of these world relays and I double AF ambassador for this event is great to see her Canada Britain Ghana Thailand Denmark France Nigeria it's the second heat women's four by 100 meters relay [Music] be very good as well so we going to the next hand over forgot the timings right thanks you clean Denmark got the inside of them one last hand over to do and we may well have lost Rick Rickman think we have BriTANicK gone and so the French on the outside as well and Denmark are clear at 97 so it's Denmark who are going to come away from Canada and a late stroke finish coming in as well from Ghana but once again we had some chaos there the British quartet went out between second and third it looked like and what genre as well as the French dropped the baton on the last leg and the delighted Danes in 4390 come through to take victory in another incident pact relay heat one care where do we start with that one that is that's the relays in you know is that the Tomcats and it's crazy because France was in first and if they would have just got that last baton pass off but anything can happen in well Desiree Henry was sir off down that back straight and his left to contemplate just what went wrong a work on them off to a pretty decent start Denmark from Canada who I thought was struggling in the first half of the race but of course as others dropped out it opened up happy for Denmark awesome a big moment for them to win the world relays his first changeover kale what are we seeing [Applause] French French had a difficult one themselves now we're going to see that Britain had gone by this point this is the French losing it Nigeria outside them had gone as well trying to find out if you look back at that and handoff she tried to connect the first time in it I don't know if she kicked it with her foot because something hit it and made it bounce to the ground Nigeria recovered to finish the race but it is dead mark and the faces of Glee yes as they saw that they pulled off what you would have said at the start of this race probably an unlikely victory right but great celebrations to them they put their place in the final and well some of the big nations Great Britain going and France will have had high hopes and they bowed out as well the British quartets who've done so well generally in relays this is the British problem just all got a bit squeezed it seems that was Henry to Nelson that's hard to take that's that's hard they'll be thinking about that for a while you know they were ready you saw I saw them in practice awesome the fitna Japan for some time working on things all they can do now is analyze it back and yes try to move forward of course top 10 finishes in these world relays do book a guaranteed place in Doha at the either Bellerophon World Championships at the end of September so Britain will not be one of those book in the place so we've got one more to see we've had plenty of headlines for that through the first to Gail that ways yes I mean if you were going out there to talk to some of them and say write some of those that we've seen the tears of the polls we've seen the British there was in the French drop it right at the end what were those is there a couple of bits of advice you could go down there and give them right now could you give a good target and you hold it you can't you can't start fumbling if you miss it on the first pass you have to you don't have eyes behind your head it's the incoming wrong there's responsibility to get the baton of your hand and I'm sure that's what some of these coaches have told these athletes going out because they're able to see what's going on well we're gonna see Jamaica [Applause] the state will go inside set at 97 look out for the defending champions the Germans I could all Australia have Sally Pearson world champion of course over the hurdles is due to also a push through the rest of the lineup they have the likes of Kazakhstan there roundel leg 3 they won't have that much awareness of what's going on before but does any word do any whispers cut that does anybody say or did you hear what happened in that last team sometimes you can see because if you're in the call room then you're waiting there's a so some some watch some don't I never watched because I didn't want to see I'm like that has no bearing on what I came here to do but if you watch then you know and you'll get together and say look we got to get the baton around the track did you ever say to your teammates don't watch or did you leave it down it really is such a fun event that it's almost like it kind of takes the pressure off but when you see other teams dropping Bhutan or being you know not in the final of those that you thought were going to be there kind of makes you like refocus and say okay hey let's go let's get this together let's get it done Germany have two starters from they for whom stunts the world by winning in the world relays Nassau the Bahamas in 2017 now there's Sally Pearson every so much experience what a great athlete oh great athlete I mean I love watching her run the hurdles and I love that she's worked on working on her speed that only going to help her in her photo so this would be interesting to see her coming out of the hole there's the lead runner for Germany Lisa Marie wait look out for Maya and Haase houses on the anchor leg for the Germans and she was the the athlete who carried them to victory there she is big victory a couple of years ago was a dramatic final in the Bahamas a team is preparing their 32 runners about to take off this track at various different points we have seen loads of incidents in the first couple of eight there are two places up for grabs automatically from the outside Australia led off by a double world champion in Sally Pearson he hurdles for her this one straight want the flat Brown that bent Marina Barroso of Ecuador who were outside or inside in Lane eight Jamaica the third fastest in the world this year and she wrote Simpson is on the leadoff leg for them that works [Applause] as the Czech Republic said lova to work over there top scorers on the talented Irish team it's a lot of promise big show an hour a devil on the opening leg got a European junior champion in passing Moses there's a press ok I like it Ferrara a brew of Italy Kazakhstan team 3 I'm sure they'd be a good reception for the Germans well they feel only a little bit of extra pressure all the teams I look at they're now saying well that did not the Germans off their perch they won it last time you know that they're gunning for you but you also know the talent and the depth that they have on their team so all they have to do is do what they know how to do what gets you there keeps you there thought he too was chaotic enough I'll mention there's been a disqualification in the second heat as well talk about that after we watch this third and final heat so the teams to the inside the title holding Germans from this event in 2017 then Kazakhstan Italy Ireland Czech Republic Jamaica Ecuador Australia p34 by 100 meters relay Germany set up by way on the inside and Sally Pearson's gotten tearing off down the outside in Lane eight already moving well clear angle first changeover coming up here and Australia I've got a stretch or they've got it away and a strain you're off on the left to the street that you make it's looking strong as well into the next change the strain irrigate with the big try and they are away although their third leg runner has gone down Jamaica looking good Germany now will hand over to hasser hustle on the inside the defending world relay winners Germany with the lead over on the outside Australian Jamaica finishing strongly as well and it's tight boots Germany from Jamaica and on the outside Australia 4304 Rebecca Haase knows all about crossing that finishing line first in a world relays and she does so again here the winners in 2017 win their heat in 4303 Gillen I think there might be some things to look back on in that one as well look like a big stretch for the Australian and they've barely made it in there you've got 30 meters as the the zone that's the thing too as the outgoing outgoing runner you're up your other job in addition to giving a good handoff it's not to cross that line and if you get to that line and it's happening for the US team in the past we get to that line and you still don't have at the time you stop well the Germans victorious Luke and Kemper and Maia the other two but let's take a look at change over there to the third you saw it could have been a possible injury there and here's that the home straight at that point Germany had got themselves into a lead position Jamaica just out of pitcher they came up yes John L Smith bringing him through to second place [Music] Australians time was quick so they will be a fastest non-automatic qualifier but there might be some lanes to look back on or some zones to check right here's the result of the third and final Heat Germany taking victory in 4303 ahead of Jamaica Australia 43 point one nine that is the fastest of the non automatic qualifiers and Italy 4340 will be good enough for them as well everybody got the button round [Music] [Music] well girl we were talking about the Australians as we just look at the Italians there who I think they're the grins on their faces tell them that I think they believe their quickest there's the Australians possibly just a little bit of apprehension from them at the moment although not now yeah because they've seen the qualifying list go up on the Sarita the summary shows Australia are there with 4319 and Italy so both came through the third and final heat but the qualifiers are led by the United States the only sub 43 second team Germany defending World relays winners second fastest an eventful go before we lose you just give us a little insight of what you're up to you're here this week is an ambassador and what life is doing for you at the moment life I am doing everything motherhood you know my girls I have two girls one 13 ones 11 they're both getting ready to transition into high school and middle school and you know I wanted to get back into my sport I want to give back to the sport that's given us so much to me so it's an honor for me to be ambassador and to be here and I'll be back this is not the last that you've seen in me well we are certainly absolutely delighted to have had you up here and to talk us through those four by ones bring us some great insight it's lovely to see you lovely to see you on the world stage in athletics again Gail Devers thank you so much for joining us in the comedy position here in Yokohama so Gail will leave us and let's see what we've got coming up next down on the track game begin [Music] [Applause] [Music] well it's a nod to the way that the computer games used to be any where better than in Japan to be rid of a throwback as we head to innovation the two by two by four hundred meters mixed relay final 18 runners taking a step onto the track and potentially into history the Polish team is an Adobe can Patrick Dobek the United States Ciarra Brown joined by Donovan brazier and lane for the Australians Katrina be say joined by Joshua Ralph visits the new national champion and Ralph a former Australian champion over 800 meters it's thought that this is an event that should play to the strength of a people to read arrive Belarus also about Vala Lucy world champion in 2015 marina listen to the cheer for Japan [Applause] [Music] [Applause] she um he's only 19 years of age second of the Asian Championships a semifinalist over 800 meters at the world under-20s alongside Alan taught tsunami clay new Asian youth champion over the to that distance and here is the athlete refugee team [Applause] Rose laconian was a flag bearer at Rio for the AR T team and James James yak who trains in Kenya now both of these athletes refugees from South Sudan Richard can't you're over to go well here's Collins Kipruto the 25 year old joined by a delay Nelly Anya a Commonwealth Games finalist from Gold Coast last year in Australia completing the lineup Papa New Guinea tonic on Yale [Applause] very talented as a youngster and Daniel ball [Music] Cornell's now 26 years of age Paul is actually entered in every event that he could physically could be so times it's back with us and well what do we expect we could see here oh I almost feel sick for them I think they're going to see it we're going to see some nervous faces out there to have a minute less than a minute between running a 400 is excruciating ly painful we've got some star athletes here that are willing to be the guinea pigs as such and trial this out azam a soba is a previous world champion over 800 she's actually coming back from the birth of her second child and so is their first race since 2017 what a way to come back I don't know if that's the smart move but I tell you what she's throwing herself to the Wolves by putting herself in this event I'm you spoke about the refugee team before they've got a great story they fled South Sudan the both of them at separate times and they're actually training with a group of athletes with temple de Roop the former Marathon star in Kenya also interesting of course to see what lineup you want to go as we rub through and see show me there in Japan at late six the Kenyans will go out with keep the root oh there is that all the world champion from Belarus Australians with Katrina Bisset then Sierra Brown loves her fashion skip the hair blob these days [Music] go back inside like you know that she likes our fashion she does want to be part of New York Fashion Week one day so at the moment though we've got her in athletics and the Americans are the ones to watch you think about ways in which athletes motivate themselves as well here we go then a little bit of history of these world relays two by two by 400 meters and the Kenyans with Colin's Kipruto remember they've gone out with the male refugee team just falling off the pace early this is the thing the interesting thing will be the tactics I think obviously for the females we just bunch up together and try and play a bit of cat and mouse Dara Brown from America knows that she's the strongest 800 meter rudder in the field so perhaps that's smart herded to stay with the femur of them and then she knows that she's going to be passing the baton to gray Theo who is in fantastic shape here and he came third for darling at Doha with a 144 so that might be a smart tactic but yeah placing your run will be so crucial the Kenyans and though the first Kipruto now thinks about a breather Papua New Guinea actually also went male-female the us now and we're dominant Fraser who will be hoping to just wall in the field a little bit from back there in third place at the moment this is a one-off final a first of the world relays and at the moment of but Kipruto is there boys bouncing and looking pretty fit ready to get the fat back from thaliana who is at the front for Kenya at the moment they've got a big lead but the bunches come up behind them and there's all to race form well that's the interesting thing is keeping one eye on the athletes that are running on one eye to see how the athletes are recovering from that first lap they look like they're all ready to go nobody is out of the way interesting tactics the Kenyans are using the full changeover zone the maturity of this second leg was male so Kipruto now pass the baton for the second time cierra Brown has as well how have they recovered in that time that they've had fifty seconds or so that they will have had Kenya need from the United States Australia are in third position Katrina Bisset is now on her second leg of 400 meters you can see physically the legs are tiring they're on that back straight this is slowing down as you would expect it to flat raise you're recovering for the US the Australians poised to go as well and Browns done what we thought that she would do she take took the format first 411 and she is working the second 400 mr. from Australia is really working much to the strong athlete at the back end of it 800 and she's coming home struggling over brown she may even give that back to the Australian Ralph position but as we sink exposed platform the urgent Yvonne can you put up massively restraining our second American third with the Kenyans Netanyahu you remember the 2018 Commonwealth Games finest in the front and look at the men now starting to chase now Jana but just take a look at the screen so you see the behind they're piling up Brad crazy those the two losing the monster problem at the moment and the Kenyans can see that lead starting to slip brazier his police foot down for the US has he got enough left coming around the house rate these strains there with Joshua Ralph as well and here they come but braces [Applause] three days the US are going to take it Australia second [Applause] the positions Matt Donovan Frazier brings the United States home to victory in the first ever - bye - bye mixed relay finals Sierra Brown and Donovan Fraser and the Kenyan tactic which looks so good the three quarters at race just faded just nothing left in the last hundred and fifty meters loved fantastic was bad it was brilliant the way that have played out how you had the the pack the mail packed chasing the female Canyon it was just a fantastic race of cat and mouse and the quality team won in the in the United States but didn't Australia lift and run fantastic with Katrina visit and adjust your Ralph placing for the Japanese I've mentioned the connect the Kenyans had been run out of it to finish fourth it was the Japanese who came through to get that final place through play but there are the winners and this is how it all shut down of the final handover and the last 400 this is earlier in the race as well and Kipruto for Kenya just give us an idea here well got that advantage but then by the last Bend it's one of those things when there is a member of the opposite sex out in front you have to play a different tactic so Brown was really clever in the way that she ran but I think the Australians have never finished higher up than third at the world relay so to get the silver they're going to be ecstatic with a bit raises a fantastic athlete he's in great shape he's looking up at the scoreboard to make sure that he's got that first position sewn up he's grabbed his singlet he's proud to be running for the United States and they're pretty stoked to win that first get that first position in an inaugural event and I think it was pretty exciting it's one of the innovations that I believe worked it was great to see and I hope next time that a lot of countries have seen how it's played out and they'll come out and have a crack at it but it looked painful they were very brave to be out there doing that but gosh aren't Brown and braiser just fantastic athletes as we see the Australians and the Bisset and Ralph what a fantastic little double they're pretty stoked I see they should be stoked I mean visit she's pretty she's taken her 800 meter time by not down by nine seconds in the last two years she broke two minutes that are at a uni me in Australia where she just led from guns a tape and won the race by a ridiculous margin so she's one to watch leading into Doha world chants everything that she's doing in the track of time it's a learning curve for but she's taking it in stride as we saw Japan finishing there in third that'll have to be pretty happy to be in those top three positions okay how happy they are I don't know I didn't expect to see too many smiles on the faces of people after doing that event that they look pretty happy so the Australians the Americans posing for the pictures or the photographers lined up they're browned and braised yeah well done partner it's good think the just the two of them out there the male and female together I think it's a great innovation and there's our winners the United States of America the two by two by four hundred meters mixed relay final it proved an absolute cracker here in Yokohama I think next one will say more tactics come into play like the Kenyans did where they tried to make the leg a little bit longer for the male run I liked it [Applause] you talked about Kenya there and there is work reaching us at our Coventry position that possibly Kenya maybe disqualified are they finished pause have you talked about the handovers yeah well let's move on more action coming up for my 100 meters is next [Music] so the crowd are being treated to some fantastic action on this first night of these I double AF world relays here in Japan and now it's the men's turn for the four by 100 meters well if it's anything like those women 4 by 100s we're gonna know that we're gonna have the gamut of emotions there's gonna be highs and severe lows it was very intense out there watching few battens drop down there was a lot of screams and a lot of Tears and then there was the excitement somebody like the Danish team who were absolutely static just to make the world champs and be out there again tomorrow so sure we're about to experience it all again with these men's 4 by 100 and all along Gail Devers sitting alongside me cool as a cucumber well I guess that's what it takes to win so many major championship medals it's quite happy to be kicked out for Gail Devers because she is an absolute phenomenal athlete and the star and she still has so much respect in an athletics track well it's going to be the world champion Great Britain team he'll many will keep an eye on nothing Mitchell Blake of course who anchored the British to victory at the World Championships in London and they'll be wanting their men to do a lot better than their women just did it's always heartbreaking [Music] a change to the result of the mix two by two by 400 meters relay winners still the United States from Australia can see their Kenya though who had finished fourth have been disqualified always heartbreaking to see your fellow country men and women having an incident in a relay but they'll know that they've got the job to do out there and they can change their luck around if they turn it around and they can make it through to this final it'll pick up the environment back at the grapefruit [Applause] sincerity has been learning some Japanese we saw in one of our opening features at the start of our broadcast he will be the second leg which is interesting because you often see Harry running that final leg so it's interesting that they've got him on the second Jameel he's obviously running the third leg for them and he's a fantastic fan runner you don't women just miss an Olympic medal in a 200 meters if you're not good band runner three starters from the world charity 2017 team for Sidney Welk relays in 2017 it was a very different story for the British got a good feeling about it I think they're going to get a great friend to really such a start he'll go on the bend to the banker the British win in 2017 so superbly waiting off the us almost waiting for Jimmy Lee just to do something huge in the sport of track on Feherty he quits soccer in 2012 because he was a brilliant soccer player to concentrate on track and field and he's just missed that Olympic medal in the 200 meters I think Tokyo next year will be his year it's the South Africans there with Emile Rasmus on their leadoff leg and over on the third leg is no job would wanna there is a County sim beany who is a very dangerous threat on the final leg it was brilliant in Australia last year at the Commonwealth Games to take that gold medal where I was a bit of a shock gold medal everyone was sort of looking at your home Blake and he just came through it ran a brilliant brilliant race here we go with the lineup that the Indonesians who feature the world under 20 champion zouri on their second leg his Trey Williams was Quadzilla fast easy for a decade on a leadoff leg for the Australians who are without the injured jack hale and rowan browning their fastest for the years also out so they're a bit depleted the office the Jamaicans World Championship bronze medalist 2013 Nesta Carter is on the opening leg window tracy of the anchor second the third Kevin Krantz will get the Germans off the reigning champion of Germany Germans trying to erase memories of disappointments in the final of the European Championships is the Venezuelans who have to say fantastic credit to see the Venezuelans here of these World relays Aguilar will lead them off this is their only team in the former ones the South Africans with the Rasmus leadoff leg and here are the British three starters from the world championship quartet of 2017 including surgeon [Applause] nobody seen the polls too much so far Giusti the five-time coalition or champion will actually run the leadoff leg from lane to come back on the final leg Nascimento a twenty four-year-old for brazil and the inside in lane one also include some Derrick silver under-18 medalist reload on an error and national champion there's the British in lane three so Brazil Poland Great Britain South Africa Venezuela Germany Jamaica Australia and Indonesia settling in their blocks all nine lanes for this one the first heat when small by 100 meters relay CJ you'd you're looking to the get Great Britain not to her it's a big leaf a start the Chavez six it is the first two in each hit will qualify the next two fastest advance the final strangers have gone out well who - looking good the first October's clean for Brittany Australians and outside Indonesia now have their world under 20 champion go down that second leg and hand over to the Jumeirah and they are all away at clean and the two makers looking strong the outside Krantz head down starting work the Germans they're still in very much a viable position as you get into the home strafe and look at the world champion British team let the nil Mitchell break Brazil on the inside Jamaica will be third but it's Great Britain the world champions in 2017 who qualify first for the final victory and that the first heat the men's four by 100 meters please run from Buju Eakins ret Jimmy Lee Mitchell Blake and the Brazilians finishing strongly to get second but the Jamaicans I've got a little bit of waiting to do and the South Africans had a major problem on that first changeover you could see that Megrahi was struggling to get the baton into the Erasmus was struggling to get the her baton into the hand of McGuirk Lee sin bang on that last leg Jay Z's in shape but he was given too much work to catch up he managed to get them into fourth but it was just too much work to do after that watch change on the first leg so we can see there's McGuire you can see in his face he knows that they've made a mistake if that first change was very very messy and even with a quality wrap line up if you don't get those handovers right the end result really suffers well it's an early season time of 38:11 for Great Britain but it is the fastest in the world in 2019 no mishaps for that but let's take a look at the first changeovers and we're looking at South Africa pretty much of the center yeah it's really messy you can see them in the middle line in the grain and the poles wet inside but when all was said and done it was Britain cleanly through the victory just good job he needed the Great Britain's needed that for team morale so it was a good uplifting run my condo Tracy just having a little bit too much to do for Jamaica we finished in third in 3851 so they go into the waiting game but she wouldn't say that a lot in the past we've Jamaica would you the times have changed the teams that we're talking about is powerhouses for the men's four by 100 you know you're talking about Japan you're talking about China and Jamaica is struggling to make finals so it's amazing what happens when you're when you lose some your star athletes if you pat on the backs more work to be done a final potentially to win for that British port s that's an impressive start in Yokohama for them on this Saturday night temperatures drop down considerably and it's not a particularly humid type of year in Japan this point the British will make their way down in the mixed zone and have a word the broadcast team down there [Music] P 2 features France likes of Zimbabwe in there as well the Netherlands Czech Republic and we'll see Raphael ghoulia Turkey the world champion gonna take you back to the two by two by four hundred meters briefly just to confirm what happened because there was a disqualification but it's confirmed the result for you it was victory for the United States ahead of Australia and see at the bottom there Kenya disqualified and let's just show you on what reason so this is on the final handover but in fact it might be the first it's the first handover from Kyoto so this is way back at the start of the race what are you seeing here terms just watching it all looks quite fun at the moment Oh steps on the outside do you know what that's the problem when you put 800 meter runners that don't nestle around 4 by 400 relay changes all the time you need to practice it because it's you're turning around you're looking at your athlete to site them and make sure you grab that baton because you don't want to look away too early in case they have gotten tired but what's happened is you've lost sight of where the track is is running and you've stepped off the she's stepped off the track onto the inside and you're not allowed to do that step we'll get you disqualified so unfortunately after that great effort of Kenya in the two by two by 400 they were disqualified for a lane infringement meantime its heat to men's 4 by 100 meters relay confirm what happened in the first heat just a few moments ago and it was Great Britain in 38 11 and world lead time for 2019 so far ahead of Brazil in second the Jamaicans 3851 so they will now be watching the clock only the polls didn't get it round the Indonesian subscride having a world or the twenty champion in their midst down in seventh shame away courtesy sorry again he's a an athlete with great talent he was born and raised in in it with not a lot of money and when he won that World Juniors he went back and they renovated his house they were stoked for him to win that medal I'm sure we'll see a lot more of him not the World Championships later there is the world champion the European champion and a winner in the Diamond League in Doha the season-opener last week Rommel Guney EV big year for him a Diamond League season that started in Doha and that people want to finish victorious of course in Doha later this year of World Championships and they spoke about so many people filling Usain Bolt's shoes in that in that Sprint's and I don't think anyone would have spoken of Ghoulia's stepping up but he has stepped up very well to fill those shoes winning the 2017 world champs and in the bureau's last year the quality athlete me started off the season this season like he finished off last week that is in Bob wins they'll be in Lane three and here at the Dutch Christopher garrier on their leadoff leg the Czech Republic take a look at the lineups then for this the second heat and the small by 100 meters relay and Turkey and raise that advance on the leadoff leg Juliet will anchor silence so the first leg at sirrah pole Papa will that lady Aung ko means 2 to 9 in this one he prayed with Sokolov here's Strom sick of the Czech Republic [Applause] smell ik is on the list yes it says on the final leg the Ducks are the confident looking Christopher area to set them on their way dissolve Italy there's good support the team in the blue vests where is in love waivers come under evening [Applause] rousing the crowd to get behind him he'll go in Lane three and here are the French will have a new fall laughter Jimmy Beeker we had 100 meter co record home athletic figure in France light beaming down on the International Stadium of Yokohama this is the second he to the men's for by 100 meters France in to Zimbabwe 3a to the for Netherlands five Czech Republic six Ukraine seven Thailand eight turkey nine the Turks have a tough draw but they do have clearly every member on the anchor leg and it's sapper bards spirits printers got them on to a steady start on the outside late night the Dutch handing over as well just about cleanly there was a little bit of a skip they're pretty even at the moment Czech Republic looking pretty good let's change big shouts off you go and away and on the outside Turkey remember poised to hand off to Juliette the Italians a little bit of steam French on the inside there was a big pause on their hand over pretty tight this one Juliette's got a lot of work to do because the attacker just drinking clear at the moment French on the inside here comes media trucks turkey get it on the inside lane on the outside just building out the French who went into that last hundred in a good position but Philip boat or two fastest Italian the first to go sub ten seconds in round reverses produces a storming finish and an Italian win in 38:29 for victory in the second heat the men's four by 100 meters relay well their national record holder Filippo taught her the first man brutally under ten second barrier but he didn't disappoint the team's disappoint they're pretty excited about about their team winning Man Thing right third leg as well from Manetti really put everything into it first race we've seen the baton of all teams make it the way of the whole way around and how costly will it have been for the French on their last handover yes which is basically what's cost them second place they're just you gotta trust ring coming around it if you look back at the footage of your relay changes and you have looked around you know you've made a mistake in a four by 100 you want to have trust and complete faith that your runner is coming in at you and you just stick that hand back and they push it in if you're doing the push pass well I said the French might ruin but at the moment they are being listed by 1/100 of a second of having edged out Turkey into third so gulia didn't quite do enough [Applause] results about a moment but we go into the third heat book looked at must have met from our position like Julio had just come through on the outside to to take that well he's the master of the strong finish he did that in the European last year to get his team into a medal position so him and his teammates at Turkey will have to watch the times of these petit to see if they make it through 34 by 100 meters relay Vick cheer because the Japanese are in this one and they have your CD kuru sorry the Japanese spoke at the press conference yesterday about the taxes work they've been putting in they feel like they're in a pretty good place at the moment as well that'll be that lead off my shoe hey tada almost got Rockstar status here in Japan after their Olympic medals and their World Championship medals they have a lot of pressure heaped on them it's almost like what I'm guessing a Cathy Freeman would have felt leading into Sydney Olympics with the pressure of a nation the Japanese absolutely love this men's 4 by 100 meter quartet and this is great practice for them leading into Tokyo look they're all come here to see them they've got brilliant runners on each of the legs genuine rock star status great talent Yamagata on the second leg for the second fastest man in Japan and see kooky and kuru of course who's on the anchor very shortly but the photographer's are following who's in the Japanese vest at the moment but don't forget the defending world relay winners the United States will be the team to beat here you would expect very strong Quartet they do have a very strong quartet and there they're resting some of their stars they could have you know it was one of those events where they had listed so much genuine stuff how you weren't sure of what quartet that send out there there anchor leg Cameron Burrell who's got an interesting story both his parents won Olympic gold medals in the four by 100 meters in the 1992 Olympics so he comes from great pedigree result of the second of the three heats of the men's four by 100 meters relay Italy in 38:29 with victory France did indeed hang on to get second place by the really fine Martin from a strong finishing gutiere for Turkey were edged out into third in 38 47 and a disqualification for Zimbabwe at the bottom of the screen [Applause] Kameron Burrell's auntie dawn Burrell was also a US team member in the long jump so there's a lot of talent within the Burrell family [Music] outside the Canadiens cabin smelly will lead them off and the mad to watch on the fourth leg Andre de Grasse back from injury a big year ahead for the war for the Japanese she hates Allah on the opening leg Yamagata koiki kiru then to bring them home hopefully for the fans of this stadium to success Chinese Taipei are in Lane seven Teich ain't we [Applause] we'll get them started out of the blocks Christopher Valdez of the Dominican Republic is the lead runner in their team of Lane six [Applause] near the Nigerians Anago key on the first leg it's a carry on the fourth is the United States [Applause] favorites and Mike Rogers victory China whoo on the first leg and then they've got some really powerful like two and three runners Chen Yi Chi and Subang tan I'm Jinsheng and their last leg so they put Subang town on the third and here are the fins on the inside of the anchor leg the junior our Falls is on the opening leg interesting lit she Genji and Subang tam of China goes second and third they want to give Jen year course the longer potential back straight with that new rule you can really play around with some of these legs and make them extra long Finland into China three united states for Nigeria five dominican republic six Chinese Taipei seven Japan eight Canada nine deGrasse on the anchor it's a clean silence affair and finally the disk or by 100 meters the roar of the crowd have certainly urged the Japanese on as they go to the first hand over Mike Rogers the Japanese straight down [Applause] really struggling here from Yamagata Nevada koiki [Applause] still going strong [Applause] look at Japan chartered a great position and the Americans will come through it's going to be far off for America and China second Japan third from the outside Canada's the grass produced a strong last leg but once again the Americans in a four by 100 meters out of world relays profit from mistakes around them and Cameron Burrell takes a victory that at one stage looks pretty unlikely but the Chinese and the Japanese with moments to forget in the last hundred that was heartbreaking because you could feel the nerves but the whole crowd and there's almost this atmosphere of just shock because the Japanese were running so well and we'd heard in the press conference that they were going to keep the change is really safe and they did keep that change so safe i from third to fourth but unfortunately Kira just couldn't get in his head they do the up pass which a lot of countries thinks a little bit dangerous and they went to get it he just couldn't get it in his hands and I don't think that they changed it within the changeover zone time hoping that that their third will be enough but I'm pretty sure that they're out because that change was so messy and they could be disqualified anyway here's a look at the Americans from Gunther tape Rogers handover that's a good one there yeah that's Justin captain who was the anchor in 2017 that's what you're after you want that hand fully extended in the runner who's passing to have it extended that was pretty close so they made that change quite safe what you're after is having optimal change with the baton that it's you know as far out stretch as possible you see here China had a lot of troubles but I think that was still safe in that changeover zone it was just Japan that had a really lot of trouble in terms of grabbing it out of that zone but American Matt kept us safe here we are with the Japanese team kirio takes off and he just can't grab it and our good catch well but unfortunately some of the crowd are thinking that it's okay but it's outside of the zone you're not actually allowed to do that it has to be a clean pass you cannot throw the change like that I tell you what full marks for the cats and the reactions but it's going to be in vain for Japan it's the upswing as you see we look at the different way than the battens are often changed talking to Gail Devers earlier about so a lot of nations is vertical these days and this is incredible habits actually batted on and how Peru has the presence of mind to still catch that baton at that point well it's incredible on the flip side if you're looking at this in terms of them leading into a home Olympics this is great practice for them they will have seen what's happened they'll go home and they'll work together on what's happened this with this experience and hopefully it'll make them better leaning in towards the Olympics they'll know what to expect the crowd you know things happen and realize though it looks like they are pretty clean on the first couple of changes and they were safe in terms of distance apart they just couldn't get that fat and changed it was very very messy maybe they made it too safe and they were too close and that was the reason why see they look just like they're a little bit close there and so his hand is way back where at the start of the baton and that's not where you want it to have to grab it you want to grab it at the end of the baton and so maybe their problem was they made it too safe they were too close and unfortunately what we're seeing is a bit of a juggling act with the baton but it's heartbreak for Japan it could be good news for Turkey and Jamaica though when they come to assess the qualifying times non-automatic qualifiers we've only got provisional results on this at the moment because I think that last changeover is going to be looked at a little more the result as it stands for by 100 metres relay the United States 3834 with victory ahead of China who themselves had their problems on their final handoff and for now Japan third in 3859 but that will not be enough as things stand any way for a normal dramatic qualifying based on times only two other teams could go through from the three heats combined well they've seen some trauma and relase does bring that about my goodness baton drops button juggles yeah well we spoke about them being rockstars here in Japan and so you can see a little bit of disbelief on the faces of the crowd they came to watch they're famous for and unfortunately the result didn't go the way that they had hoped [Music] [Music] while the excitement just keeps coming on this first night of this I double AF world relays as we go into the 4x4 Demeter's mixed relay Jamaica out first don't clean Russell white and rose behind them the Belgians and it looks like Warren is going to run again having run in the men's event we can't see but it looks like Saku is also going to run again as well for the Belgium team so it's a good training session it's something that you probably as an athlete would like to do at this time of you leading into a season so the Belgium's will have some tired legs out there come here look Laos is also running again but again it's good says it's a good training session and they've got some quality athletes the Belgian 400 runners and Dylan ball a there looks like succour is actually been taken out having run in the men's 4x4 so Schumacher and laughs there's watching who has run already tonight yep himself though as a late change he's had a busy night than he expected this is not the night he thought he was good sometimes it works out better go run it's happened to be what's another fleet who was in the team was throwing up before the race she was that nervous so I hope they were warmed up I just got thrown in at the seville world champs it's actually probably not too bad because you don't have that buildup of nerves you sort of really relaxed when you get thrown out there no time to worry about what's happening you just let your body do what it's trained to do we keen to see how the Jamaicans get on and that's Geneva Russell talented athlete over 400 hurdles she's a 53 second 400 hurdle hurdle she won the Commonwealth Games over that distance last year's amazing amazing a lot of talent she's got great speed over the flat as well so to make is lucky to have her in this mix four by four hundred of course it's also really interesting to know how you're going to do the lineup because it's up to you how you how you want to do it do you want to go out with two men and finish with two women do you want to just alternate which a lot of teams have gone with the male first two women in the middle and male at the end which if that happens too often you'd hope that they'd end up drawing them out just to make it interesting but the last heat I can say is going to be different the Jamaicans are going to go out with Fitzroy Dunkley who's gonna have to de nieve Russell who will then go to Rhonda white and then at Jamari Rose is going to bring them home the Belgians have gone out with a man so do the Indians South Africa helping and Carvalho for Brazil so it's it's an exclusively first leg mail run one of those things in a 4x4 where you want to get a good lead so that it keeps the the changeovers a little bit clearer and cleaner but when everyone's doing the same thing it makes it a little bit different than bread if it does work out because we're still learning this event if it does work out that everyone does that a double F may look at ways of seeing if they can get people to do it differently so you see the excitement of the male versus Tina we're standing by for the first of the three heats of the mix 4x4 de meters relay news from that dramatic last race that we had at a four by 100 meters nigeria disqualified running out of lane and Japan are out for actually what was termed as in legal battle exchange on that last one it may be against the rules but I fail to see a better one that you'll see a better one this year in terms of the concentration required I don't think you could do that again if you tried I think there would be many a cricketer back in your home country who'll be admiring media the safe hands of kuru right that's right through this first of the three four by four hundred mixed relay races and it's Brazil on the outside with Lucas Carvalho so you see the way they got to go they're getting a male female female male Australia with Ian Halperin panics ooh Rebecca Bennett Angeline Blackburn and then Luke Stephens on the anchor yes he's a chef from the Blue Mountains is an help and he's having a huge yeah I don't think he would have expected to starve you to be out here running for Australia but he's had a pretty good so far the Indians are in Lane five and that's her due to very he'll hand - baisha and then prank a liqu s-- does the anchor leg Julianne Watchers had a busy night and now he goes out for Belgium on the first leg and Dylan ballet is now on the anchor [Applause] I'm thinking back totally still didn't born earlier as well as look at the to make ins with Fitzroy Dunkley were hunted to near us 'l there to rot the white into bari roads they started lane three Jamaica Belgium India Australia and on the outside its Brazil so I settle in there blocks for the first of these heat three a turtle and here we go with heat one firstly although it's run on a huge staggered with no South Africans in Lane six it's a huge gap that India have to look to in helping out there in Lane seven and the other thing is the change overs because they are going a male into a female I don't think many females would have received that in a 4x4 the faces of males going to be coming later that's a completely different change over fourth of its value is on the first leg for the Brazilians but of course still has a considerable way of track to go pump in China hold in there we watch for the first hand over now also the outside the Brazilians that you make heads up there as well they run the inside in lane three get over onto that back straight now outside Tiffany silver Moreno has it for the Brazilians it's almost exclusively it is an exclusively female field now on this second leg I liked what Belgium did at the change they utilized the whole of the changeover zone to make sure that their male ran a bit further I think that's very clever especially when you're leading into a world chance to know how to do those changes so you get the optimal leverage out of your athletes from wealth games medalist Taniya Brussels is trying to make some inroads behind Tiffany silver Marino it's Brazil though from Jamaica and it's Belgium with Camille Mouse running on their second leg the big prize go out standing by Brazil Jamaica Belgium once again it's females all out on the track the bed will be poised for the anchors to make a move into the lead and this is really important for Ronda white to really work on this lead and build on the spread leg that she's got at the moment she's the quality athlete on this leg and she is really working hard to make sure that she goes into that last change with a bit of breathing space Ronda white went out fast now that silver Moreno just hold something back in the tank a short finger almost sandwiched between there the Belgians in third and the Jamaicans leading and I think White's just showing some signs of fatigue she went out really fast with the baton and he's trying to hold off now silver and the Belgians coming on strong with their third leg runner shoemaker and they close the gap as we go to the final leg and it's Jamaica who lead at the back and safely the hands of Jabari Rose and it's in front three which includes Belgium and Brazil Jamaica threw out in front as you can see Rose looks really relaxed out there in the lead you know there just got to get the first two in each heat will qualify rust so the shorter figure is really working hard to make sure he stay the contention Dillard ball a right on his shoulder though Dillon ball a just sitting there hanging off the back of Alexander Rousseau and Rose on the inside just holding that line but the Brazilians coming strong now first to a niche he qualified so many Jamaicans are got something to do because he got the Brazilians and the Belgians and the Jamaicans have got no response and filter we're going to take it and Brazil they're going to take second the pinch of maker well it all went awry in the last hundred meters and their wrench down to third they'll have to wait to see if they're times good enough but the Belgians timed it perfectly and the Brazilians Russa held on in there when it looked like he might fade the Jamari rose well a tough finish but you make a serve well that's the thing you need to know your opposition so we can see it on the back straight that Rose was looking really comfortable and not wanting to work too hard but perhaps he didn't use enough of his speed down that back straight thinking mid to be fine on the road home but Russo from Brazil here's not a final in Olympics they finished eighth in the full bar for Brazil in a home Olympics so he's a quality athlete - he's very happy to make sure that they qualified [Music] but ball a obviously just knew how to relaxed and get the job done but I think you know when you've got someone like genève russell who is such a quality athlete and why you would have expected Jamaica to be easily in those top two qualification positions that's the thing you've even in the heat you've got to make sure see look how relaxed Rose looks here's super relaxed I think he thought the job was going to be done but you really have to play the advantages and if your advantage is your speed and you know that Russell and ball they have great finishing kicks you've got to make sure that you do put them into a little bit of oxygen lactic debt down their back straight and use some of your speed nowadays have to sit back and really hope that their time is enough to get them qualified through look how relaxed ball they is on the outside a free second round of the night he is super smooth super relaxed those ball lays their fit they know how to get in shape and that's what you want to see from your athletes at this time of year well it does produce the unpredictable the mixture in a and that was an interesting finish the results of the first of the three heats in the mixed four by four hundred meters relay Belgium with a national record three 1803 ahead of Brazil and the Jamaicans faded to third here we go with heat two so the likes of Germany longer on the lead leg for that we're going to see Kazakhstan the Kenyans China Canada a Great Britain combination for which will in food and Accord Nora who is the only British athletes who have competed in all four wild relays so far she's have been in the three previous editions she's an interesting athlete she moved to the 400s quite late in her career it's been such a successful move for her she's a brave athlete she she actually suffered from malaria leading into 2016 Rio Olympics which is open you know she was at the point where she could have the wards was able to get up and then qualify and win a medal in that 4x4 in Rio so she's a tough athlete and it's great to have her out there because she brings quality to this field for the Great Britain team [Applause] [Music] hey Doc Wilson Jamal Stevens are the two male runners they will go in 1 & 4 in terms of legs there's phonetic upon who will go on the second leg for Great Britain and that's one of the things we've the mixed relay sometimes when the 4 by 400 has already been run some of the athletes that are the stronger athletes have been put into that team and it's great to see an athlete like Anika or Nora out there because she can then feed off the information and the things that she's learned through such a long and successful career to the other younger athletes or the less experienced athletes that even her team so this mixed relay has been a great concept for developing athletes as well as adding some excitement to a program yeah we've seen it happened in world under 18 events quite a lot of course it's now a world championship event we'll see it later this year and in terms of qualification the top 12 teams who performs in the mixed relay here in Yokohama book their place in terms of their countries places the world championships at the end of September and I think that's where the real excitement is going to come from that event because you know once there's World Championship medals on the line you're going to see this event start to develop and become a real proper of in the analytics program so the final moments before the opening leg runners stand by remember the the rule is that there is no defined order in which you can put your 4 athletes out there your two men or two women on this opening leg every team is going with a male including Britain with Alex hey Doc Wilson and here's Austin Cole on the lead leg for Canada in lane seven Bucci part of China they go mail female female male the Kenyans led off for a moment but also then had to executive female runners before coetc will run the anchor and that's the same list for the Kazakhstan team with Sokolov on the opening leg to go though [Applause] the Germans follow suit Tobias manga and into Laura Beulah got scope and then it's Torben Janka not been involved so far or always to be involved tomorrow the second and final day these I double AF world relays so Germany they'll be supporting their team Laura Miller goes on second she's fast 200 meter runners to finish dates the area champs last year reminder the lineup then Germany in three Kazakhstan for Kenya five China six Canada seven and Great Britain in Lane eight on the outside for this the second heat in the four by four hundred metres mixed relay opening round on opening night in Yokohama it's another clean start Britain from the outside with a top Wilson unity predicts a paste out trying to stretch away with Austin Cole having a mini sightsee Canadian in lane seven good performance as well it looks like from the Kenyans in these early stages pulling well away from Sokolov of Kazakhstan and looking up at Germany or on the inside Tobias logos on their opening leg and he's running smooth first 400 meters as well good performance in Austin Cole is up on the shoulder and passed and it's hey listen the big stagger of course will unravel as the race goes on and we'll get an idea who's just one male to female the way inside it was the Germans who were the first half over and they're off and away with Laura bulla on this second leg and it's for that Nakia Paul Great Britain and the Canadians we'd expect Miller to use her good 200 meter speed and get to the front side of her athlete at that changeover will be in the first position she looks very relaxed there Canada looks strong coming her through into second position and the Great Britain in the third at the moment trailing well at the back of Kazakhstan and China and they've basically got it with the same lineup so it's gonna be interesting to see if they've any way of eating back in to that deficit but it's the Germans who have a shock wave now as Mora prepares to hand over to another female runner in the deep dogs go every team will do so good Germany leading and the Canadians with the second hand over and now we've got in possession of the battery in third place at the moment and the Kenyans are there at fourth back straight you've also got Brown who's fantastic 800-meter runner running there for Canada in second so look for her late but honor has got great speed but she's also fat like she's great 400 meter others so she'll probably push try and push herself up as high as possible so that she can hand that baton off to at least give Great Britain that chance to finish and close strong but it looks like Kenya is having a great leg there with salem/bangor while those three running away at the moment from a fading an equal Nura of brittle is really tiring and it's almost treading water so Brittany got a lot of work if they're going to be in the mix come the end of this because the Germans Lee Tolbert jonker has got the baton on Nura has just gone down online the Chinese of collapse as well on the line is through sheer tiredness but at the front now it's a battle down that back straight and Germany just for a moment being overhauled because filler Bo C of Canada goes in front and Kenya hanging on to third place only the first two will qualify remember Canada have the lead the British well-well back down the field with Jamal Road with Stevens almost impossible challenge for head su to qualify remember so should still be tight Canada and Germany and can you try to come up the inside very close to the line Canada get it Germany I think still got the second and Ken your into third Britain well back in fourth China into fifth because external bringing up the rear but it's Canada's victory in heat two well there's a lot going on there a nourish change took down the Chinese athlete it took them a long time to get them off the track it was intense I'm not quite sure if Andorra was injured or she hit the wall you know they talk about athletes getting super tired in a 400 well if you want to see how bad it can get poor Anika you know she she really hit the wall then but some Canada did fantastic I said that Alicia Brown was an 800 s sorry she's that she was a four by four hundred runner that finished fourth at the Olympics in Rio and that quartet did it exactly right you see moolah here changing that button that's how you want to do it great change over there you see the Canadians changing to the four by four hundred runner brown eyed look at that if a scream could say go go go I think it just did their huge animated look and here's the messy handover there's a Nora who just had nothing left and actually it was the trailing Chinese runner who fell but the Chinese had the baton away and here's the home straight as three competed for two you can see I'll say he's got that really upright back stance you needed to move forward just a little bit but he's treading water because he's super tired but co h is a four hundred hurdler and we've mentioned how 400 hurdles finished strongly and has the twin brother of nicholas who's a world champion four hundred hurdler he's got he's got some great jeans so he know he's a good athlete wasn't a tag fantastic finish for the mix for by four hundred heater well I got some news for the thirsty to bring you as well because there's been a disqualification on review and here's the result Belgium disqualified well this is a technical infringement they didn't declare the change in athlete we talked about Dylan Paul a coming in for mr. core it wasn't declared in the correct manner ahead with the site list and Belgium out Brazil Jamaica the two qualifiers well unfortunately that's on team officials somebody in the Belgium team official room is going to be very very upset because obviously you're going to have upset made for athletes very disappointed with that lack of administration the result from heat two of the three that we're going to see in the next four by four hundred meters relay and it was a Canadian victory the Germans did indeed hold on Kenya in third Great Britain listed air and forth at the moment after that clash of the Chinese and the final handover that's one thing that you want to make sure happens in mix realize that you do because those those changes can get quite rough and so when you have females and males out there you want to make sure that you keep it as tight and as clean as you possibly can and I'm sure that they're all respectful out there and they're trying to do the right thing but unfortunately accidents happen and in this case it was the two females but you see it quite a lot with the change was the time once the budget goes yeah trying to run fast and athlete hits the brick wall but hopefully we'll have no more problems like that in this next Hale I think that it's really interesting later and to hear you explain that hitting that wall right there that was funny you didn't you don't see it Illustrated quite automatically on a world status as it was there we're in the mean sight by the way looking at the athletes for heat three and there is my leak early from the Curley family what a group of athletes they produced Fred Curly's brother yeah and mynique will be running the second leg for the United States in late oil that they started lane seven they're going to start with Brianna Thomas running the opening leg before curly will take it on so there's going to be a little bit of change in this race so the u.s. just mixing it up a bit by sending out there a female for the first leg Curley will almost certainly then start from a position trailing a middle and have to pull America back into it but of course the other teams generally and in every case for this one are going with a female on the second leg so the tactics if they start fascinating and nobody's quite got it down yet as to what the right way to do it is no they happen and I think that it's one of those things where what the athletes are doing in the heats we may not necessarily see the same thing in the final because if you haven't qualified fastest I think teams will look at tactics that may push them up even if it's one place so I think for the finals we may see a few orders change but with this USA team you've got some great athletes to watch some really talented young athletes coming through so my litte curl is one of them he ran with his brother Fred in the NCAA's four by four to take the wind but they're a quality family and Olivia Baker running the third leg for the USA is one to watch as well she's got a an 800-meter pepe that's just the tick over to flatten so she's an athlete to watch a lot of eyes of course will be on there the Japanese will be on the inside in this the third heat as we take a full look at the lineup from the outside lane 8 its Poland who head off with a male inducing ski he will have to push kiss kibbutz and then sweety editage is on the third leg until if ski on the fourth so they go male female female male this is the United States we honor Thomas on the lead leg and Curly of a second they can write make up the rest of the team the French with happy own and then a female in Pauline and Perrault CA odds legs two and three core Pierre on the fourth the Italians David Ray panting - female in vivisun and then a male with how and then Luke Udo will bring them home the female on the fourth leg it's illegal male female male female male female male female also for Papua New Guinea Wanga is on the opening leg and here's the chair for home team it's ito adding to a yama they go male female female male team members support us all in the crowd willing Japan on to make another final at these World relays I think the most nervous athlete out there would have to be the United States Brianna Thomas because she's going to have to pretty much run at arm child just let the athletes go pass her and try and get her pace exactly right tough ask six teams one female runner on the opening leg Brianna Thomas of the United States Japan Papua New Guinea Italy France USA and Poland final heat next three-day round once and watch to see Breanna Thomas can cope in lane seven with France and Italy closing and now passing France with Papio of that opening leg but Thomas doesn't necessarily want to be too concerned by what she sees there the u.s. order is different on the outside Poland have grown up pretty fast Duch miski he's going to be having to viscous so we'll have a much bigger contingent of females I think we'll have five females on the handover it's going to be my leak early against the girls Italy Hanover in first place second leg is underway the Americans are still not mother button yet and they have now as mining Curley gets it but he's got a big big deficit to overhaul here as the Italians with Trevor Sam go way down the backstraight this is fantastic it's almost like watching a superstar athlete chase down you know like rewarded school athletics the average athlete but look at my legs curly go these are quality female athletes and he is having to work so hard just to get onto the back of them his a most suppose has to be to bring back parity to the race before he hands over to Olivia Baker who will run leg three and he goes wide on the outside past the Japanese also plaster but he's going to go past Poland in these far last few steps but he won't have caught the Italians who bleed into the third leg of Andrew how the experience a new how takes the button and Olivia Baker is it chase but of course Powell now is going to stretch this advantage again with the poles back in third so the tactics fascinating to watch again it is fascinating we're talking about a locked up and it's locked up and here the 400 he is got a huge lead over the females and he needs to keep extending that into his athlete who is going to grab that mess and he is going to feel the male's chasing her down this is great time well the shoulders are rocking the heads wobbling a little but Andrew how is going to give Italy and lead going into the final leg they will have look kudu on this final leg he's running out of steam as the Cougar gets a clean bad exchange and hits off Poland will be in second the u.s. third with the USF Dante via sprite taking the fat and now streaking around that first bed he's got the poles in his sights the question is can he make up that massive gap all the way along the line the Italians but this is the hard part of the code I she has to stay relaxed she knows that the male becoming at her she can hear it in the crowd but she has to remain relaxed stay calm hold that form she's doing it beautifully at the moment though the fact the Japanese have a male Israeli kid adeney but this is about Makoto at the front first to qualify to the travel of a second and third the polls with Zaleski and Octavius right battling for it and Celeste he's gonna hold him off although it's we'll take it the US are they going to get second they are going to get second those are the two qualifiers in the italians after dominating from gun to take lose it in the last five meters we'll have to wait to see on time if they qualify good tactics will work behind the poles and the Americans well they got through but it was tense ah that is exactly what you want to get out of the mix four by four hundred meters relay it came right down to the wire I know look Udo did a fantastic job on that last leg staying relaxed it's got to be intense knowing that your whole team's waiting to see if you can hold on when it's an unfair advantage because you got the men breathing down your neck who will fall faster there's not much you can do when you get when they catch you but what a great race and that's why the mix four by four hundred meters relay is on the program and it's going to be at the world chance because it is pure excitement right down to the end of the race I talked about a race as well which it will capture the imagination wherever you are in the crowd watching it you know that there are athletes running at some stage of their race so these are some of the handovers this is my leak early and look at the tactics he has to go for lane one all the way over too late for for the handover I think he first sighted the blue strip of how in the inside and thought our USA are usually in the front I'll go down to the front pass but unfortunately because of their order he had to then dodge some traffic to get the baton across safely here we are we can see the Kunduz doing all she can she's nice and relaxed but Roddick what a great leg by zalewski for the pole Polish Team USA wouldn't like getting beaten I don't think and so they may take a look at their tactics and change them for the final cannot wait to see what the team's come up with for us for tomorrow France and the host nation Japan just trailing in at the back there kiddo Donnie well the Italians as we look at the exhausting the faces of the Japanese athletes the Italians who had that big lead well the good news for them is that by our reckoning they will have made it through brilliantly the third place finishes three 16.1 - little bit of treatment down there for the Japanese you know the problem with the mix really what we're seeing is we're seeing a lot of pain for the female to have worked so hard you know you can just see how much she is given for our country and for our teammates there it's a painful event at the best of times but when you know you've got that baton in your hand you just feel like you've got that little bit extra pressure to get it around there for your teammates the Kenyans will also be celebrating let's confirm the result of heat three and they mix four by four hundred meters relay it was victory for Poland in a dramatic last 50 meters the United States came through in the end against second edging out the Italians but it's not bad news for them [Music] well it's a crowd poised for a big final shuttle hurdles are we coming up to bring us to a conclusion on the first night so we just seen the polls winning the third and final heat and they mixed four by four hundred meters and they're downstairs talking to Rachel stringer team pollen winners of the third heat thereof the mixed of four by four hundred meters was a pretty dramatic race there but it seemed like you got your tactics spots really nice coach told us that that the best way to run fast to start with a man then two girls inside and uh and a vitamin and it works it does indeed that also ends with a 315 46 was a world lead and a national record yeah it is we are really really happy right now and we just have to round that fast tomorrow and how fun is it to run with the boys it is it's really difficult to change during the race between like but it's really fun and what is it like to receive the baton as well offer mail maybe they can be quite aggressive with their hand ever maybe just a little bit about the woman that are also aggressive in their race you can handle it congratulations on that race good luck in the final thank you [Music] [Music] final time shuttle hurdles mixed relay there are three teams competing because Jamaica have dropped out due to injury two men injured so the Australians come out with Moochie off being in Andrews and is the u.s. yeah they've been thinking about that [Applause] they tell me they would I spoke to them yesterday that was pretty good and Clemens is joined the lineup for this final as his Devin Allen which is yeah Oh u.s. champ good pleasure here are the Japanese the third and final find this side not sure they coordinated that was quite right yet my okie not on the same page is Kimura [Music] which is unusual for a hurdler they're usually pretty good at coordination well United States have so much depth in hurdling that some two changes they're still the team to watch Devon Allen who's been brought in used to be a wide receiver for the Uni of Oregon's talented talented athlete woulda seen his girlfriend Morgan Mitchel run before by 400 for Australia earlier in the evening it's eight years since his last relay so let's find out a little bit more about these really cool few years ago [Music] [Music] one of the first women members man I think that women are [Music] well there we go the Americans taking issue a little bit of shuttle hurdles of this Cristina Clemens World Indoor silver medalist in Birmingham and the I double have Chavez hips doors you know with the snow outside well and I got to be honest I think she's winner of best hairstyle for the evening always always a star presentation I reckon it's like it's I reckon she's done it for Japan the little chopsticks through the hairstyle and love it not to the local culture there Celeste Moochie a very good hepped athlete young up-and-coming athlete Nicholas Hoff he's actually got his own app in proof-reading he's a very smart cookie and a great competitor as we saw at the come off games when he came through to take that bronze medal over athletes who are probably expected to win it more interesting psychology here is that the Americans have decided to go with two out of the four new runners having knocked it the others have had a go at this the others have done this they've been out they've been on the track they've done it the US have changed it round he had some interesting one fresh legs well let's take a look at the ball the inside they will be the Australian so running from the finish back to the start Briana being Nicolas hot will then run the second leg a former youth olympic champion there's Cristina Clemens mention her silver medal over 60 meter hurdles last year Freddie Crittenden ran in the heats produced a really good leg Devon Allen still to come here are the Japanese the third finalist with Kimura second at the Asian Championships face of the crowd Takayama you'll be running back the other way male plural height 110 meter hurdles there's the rest of the light up including the anchor running the Japanese record holder tile can I so it's a final it's the home straight and we're all looking at the finish the historic first at these world relay here in Yokohama the first ever shuttle hurdles relay next final false start well oh no are we gonna see 3 2 2 well we'll have to wait and see where where we are on reaction times and whether we will get maybe a green card which would be a technical infringement which will allow all three to continue or the drama let's have a look at times it look like Australia moved to be honest and that's why I was a little bit of a gas if I mean I'd gas for all of the ladies you don't wanna see anyone disqualified but unfortunately it looks like Brianna being is the one who got them to squall a fired she'll be extremely upset with this the reaction time is coming through as naught point naught 1 0 so anything under point 1 and you're in trouble and Australia are going to go she's gonna be super upset cuz it's not just it's not just for you I know Briana she's a lovely lovely young girl and this is a fantastic Australian team so they will support her but they're all going to be very disappointed with what has just occurred so it means we are now in a head-to-head it's the u.s. against Japan lanes three and eight to start so they're back in the blocks and it is now between the u.s. and Japan so camera against Clemens in this first leg [Applause] whydid over those hurdles keeping pace long changeover zone now off they go for the second leg Crittenden away Japanese are holding in there Takayama has done really well on these high hurdles with this machete one or two another one's been caught there it's Japan above the knee his first night now the third leg and it's our key I hope he against Eureka novice nervous really driving hard flat over those hurdles and Japan under pressure here with ioki and it's the US will lead going into the final leg Devon Hammond he hasn't done this for eight years with a man from Oregon University is going to take the United States away it seems can I won't be able to pull this back in the US are going to have a historic verse the first several hurdles breathe a mix final winners and a world relays Devon Amman bridge the United States home to victory [Applause] well I think the demon Allen kept it really safe then because he knew that Shahrukh and Elvis had really blown that wrote the part in the third leg I think Freddy critters and really sat in the blocks for that change he he just sat there and he didn't move so I'm guessing that he was trying to make sure that he kept it safe because they knew that they were the quality team of the competition that's what happened when you lose a few teams they could really take a little bit of a relaxed look into it and make sure that everything they did was safe but you got smart because they want to work away as the winners but it was a fantastic leg by Sheree Kanellis I was impressed with Kimora the first leg for Japan she has done some training with Sally Pearson and is starting to show she looks really clean over those hurdles and great technician it was very very fast so it's a u.s. victory in Japan on this opening night the host nation second Devorah my okie join Takayama and can I they have their own little place in history because a second place is Japan's best ever result out of world relays this is nervous driving away ya can just see how great Shahrukh is lead leg ear she snaps it down so quickly it's amazing and Devin Allen you know as I said it was a wide receiver for uni of Oregon he's a quality athlete you know he made the Olympic final in 2016 he looks very comfortable here when he knows it he's away and he's safe because of that team at aspect of this event you just want to make sure those those hurdles were extremely high for the men you know he's clipping a few of them on the way through but he's keeping it very safe and he still looks quite conservative there is relaxed as he's running last time he did this he was in high school and the hurdles wouldn't have been that height in high school you know the TV doesn't do it justice you gotta stand next to the kazi's these lads are really tall but you know if the average height person went stood next to them you'd have some you'd have huge respect for what they are doing out there as athletes USA the strongest hurdling nation they have been for so long so it's you know it's what we expected to see and this quartet quality athletes and the athletes who got them through to the final were brilliant as well he is the result of the first ever mixed shuttle hurdles real a final at a World relays and the United States take victory 54 96 ahead of Japan the Australians unfortunately disqualified for a full start that Jamaicans through injury unable to field a team in the final despite qualifying [Music] this is what we've got coming up on the second day of these either by half world relays and it's finals virtually all the way the four by two hundred meters will get us underway and the four by four finals in the middle of the session and having seen the heat to the four by two we'll get the finals as well tempting quick words and a highlight for you from this first evening by once watching the highs and the lows it was there was hopes of a motion out there that's what you expect with world relays and it's so lovely to see the smiles of the USA team at the end of the evening maybe the faces of this first night the victorious shuttle hurdles relay mix team and they have taken the Americans to a mark of 16 points in the total standings after this first evening but they're hot on their heels followed by the host nation Japan we'll have lots more drama to bring you on the second night to these iwf world relays from here at the International Stadium in Yokohama but thanks for joining us and for now it's sayonara and join us again tomorrow
