what's going on guys it's Jeremy hopper here what we're going to do today is we're going to be picking a lock specifically on the table is a master lock number one this is a very common padlock that you'll find in just about any hardware store and homes all across the country and we're actually not going to be picking this lock we're going to be doing an alternative method to open it and that is raking and in order to rake this lock we're going to require two paper clips so let's begin in order to form these two paper clips into the tools that I will need I'm going to utilize a pair of needle nose pliers and the first tool that I'm going to make is called the rake so I'm going to open up this paper clip just like this now I'm going to bend the tip of it just like this I'm going to go back a little bit further and bend it back just like this now I'm going to place another Bend on this paper clip and now one more Bend just to straighten this all out flatten that a little bit and this is our basic rake so the next tool that I'm going to make is called the tensioning wrench so I'm going to open up this paper clip now I'm going to utilize the needlenose pliers to flatten it squeeze it shut I'm going to grasp the top end of this paperclip I'm going to put a 90 degree Bend I'm going to twist the remaining parts of the paperclip together these two paper clips have been form into the tools that I will need on the top we have the tensioning wrench and on the bottom we have the rake so now the next step is to begin raking the lock to open it now when you examine a lock you're going to note a couple areas in here this is called the cylinder and right up in here you probably can't see it because the lighting there are pins that are called tumblers and those tumblers are on Springs and those tumblers have to be at just the right height in order for that cylinder to turn when you look at a key you'll notice all of those raised areas okay so we're trying to get those pins at the correct height that when you achieve that correct height you can turn the cylinder and open the lock so what we're doing with the raking method is we're going to insert this rake in two boats into the cylinder and move it in a raking motion against those pins the tumblers until we achieve basically by a jiggling effect the right combination and we're also utilizing the tension wrench here to apply torque to this lock just as we would with a key to open it so I'm going to insert my tension wrench and find the area in which it it binds like right here you only want to apply it a little bit of torque to it this is an area where a lot of people make mistakes they apply too much or too little torque I'm going to insert the rake into the top portion of that cylinder and I'm going to rake it against the tumblers and there we go you have just opened that lock as you can see you heard it pop open it's just that simple guys two paper clips and you can bypass a lot of the common locks that are out there on the market just by raking alright guys we're going to try this an additional time with a different camera angle just so you can see going to insert my tension wrench to the bottom portion of the lock I'm going to turn it it's important to note which way the cylinder will turn on this particular master lock number one it will turn clockwise or counter clockwise other locks may be different it's important for you to know that and it really comes from just us studying all the different locks that are out there so I'm applying just a little bit of torque on that the best way I can describe it is applying as much pressure as I would on a key on my keyboard just a little bit of pressure too much and you won't move the cylinders it'll bind up too little and it just won't work to really just a matter of practice so I'm going to insert that rake go to the back of that cylinder I'm just going to keep breaking those those tumblers or some operating through a viewfinder so it's a little bit more difficult coming up and there we go I just got it and how my break is a little stuck in there there we go this is a great skill to know in case you ever find yourself in some type of extreme situation where you have to essentially affect your own rescue and the only thing standing between you and safety or freedom depending upon what we're talking about might be a lock so as always I want to thank you guys for watching I hope you found the information useful and I will catch you in the next video so long
