[Music] well today's tip and like AV e says short tip and only the tip Santo a curly superglue this is a locked i-495 it doesn't really matter long as I design o acrylate little tip so this tip came to me from a buddy of mine who builds carbon fiber components for helicopters and airplanes and he told me what they fixed the chips and the propellers Sena make propellers out of this carbon fiber when they chip them what they do is they take sino acrylate a big bottle like this they come out to where the chip is they filled the chip in full of a super glue and then they take for the chip they take baking soda what this is and they sprinkle it on top of the the super glue and what baking soda does I don't know the the chemical bla bla bla like a bee we a ve would explain it I'll explain the mechanic terms baking soda causes it to drying almost instantly and several times harder than regular super glue does so what you do if you're trying to fill up a crack in the propeller or something like that you put all right now not a crack but a chip you put a little dot of superglue in there you sprinkle some baking soda on it then you blow off you wipe off the excess baking soda and then you put more superglue and baking soda and more super glue and baking soda until you fill it all the way up and once it's filled all the way up you can sand it back down and it's good as gold another interesting story about this the guy who told me this I played prison softball with him so me that's got a bunch of other guys from around the DFW area used to meet up once a month and we'd go down to a Texas prison and we'd actually play softball with the inmates so we'd get there we'd pray with the inmate we play softball with them in between games somebody to share a testimony then we'd go eat lunch with them we have like a little Bible study then we go play softball again so as far as the softball goes I mean I loved it it was the absolute hands-down best time I've ever had playing softball but we went out there one day and every time you go into the prison they check every single vehicle to see if you have any drugs or guns or you know whatever snuggles mica I guess sneaking you know contraband in so this guy does so much carbon-fiber work he has an entire like five pound bag of baking soda in the back of his Honda Civic so we go through the gate we get to the gate the guys find a five-pound bag of baking soda and in man it's like all hell breaks loose the entire prison is on lockdown now because he think did we snuggle and stuff so they came out I guess did a test on I figured out it's actually baking soda so anyway to use this stuff I love I'll do a quick demonstration I don't only have anything to glue together and touch the strength but I'll show you what I'm talking about so we'll put a little dab there a little dab there now unless you stick your finger to those it's gonna take forever to dry but we sprinkle some baking soda on there and what you want to do is just cover it like that come on cat back on okay let me close the text message for Chucky and it's dry and it is rock solid rock hard how you wanna feel buddy don't touch that one okay just touch that one yeah it's super hard and I have not tested this actually like you know built an apparatus to do this or anything but I've used this in the field the the starter is still annoyed from my compressor on my truck is completely held together with this method because I broke the entire side of it out and I use my super glue and some baking soda and many things rock solid now so always if you're a mechanic super glue is an invaluable chemical to keep and keep it a little pill bottle full of baking soda obviously if you're gonna keep it in your pocket and you have a lot of run-in with police officers it's gonna be kind of hard to explain a situation but if you know what I use this for most time in the field is fixing small repairs I use it to glue a rings like if you have like a big flange it's got a big like you know ring that's kind of you know odd shaped or whatever you can put a couple of drops of super glue in there and it'll actually hold that o-ring in there the main thing I use it for is building o-rings so if I'm in the field and I carry an assortment of o-rings and I have one that's just a little in between the two like it's a metric or something like that well you can cut the o-ring put superglue on the ends and put it back together and then let it dry and then you know put it back in and it's an actual method that uh all the o-ring manufacturers support so Parker has a you know how to do it whatever and it works great and if you have a ring cord which I don't have currently I'm gonna have a kit if you have out wearing cord you can keep it on your truck and you just build o-rings in a field so anyway like I said just a tip no need to like subscribe make crappy comments and get out pick something say it's a key doubt fix something you to know stay with some gusto did you hear Caleb Caleb yelled [Music]

turns head to look off in the distance ..Make my own o-rings...

Man this could have really saved me. I will definitely be using this. Thanks for posting! and I liked the intro, it foreshadowed the prison story.

Similar, less messy trick: dissolve some baking soda into water, and keep it in a small pump spray bottle. Glue up your stuff with the super glue, then spritz just a little of the water on it. (just one spritz does it, usually)

Exact same thing happens, but you can clean it up much more quickly / easily - and the prison guards won't freak out if they find it in your trunk. :)

I remember hearing about this trick on Tested a few years ago, but I could never remember what it was you were supposed to use- just that it was something I usually had on hand. This is going to come in handy for a few repairs I need to make next week!
