Living From Christ Within - Joe Sweet

you know for the last few weeks i've been going week to week i feel the holy spirit just not having me on a series but just listen to what he says and not that i'm not listening when he has a series but i'm just going to tell you what's on my heart today we're going to talk about today living from christ within living from christ jesus said because i live you shall live also jesus said i live because of the father jesus said that he said it's the father in me that does the works i live because of the father and then he said that we're called now to abide in him and live through him so the bible says that god's love was manifested to us that he gave us his son first john says so that we might live through him of course we live for him but we live through him we live by his spirit i want to talk to us about that and the options that we have as believers we live in a body we live in a fallen world we're surrounded by angels holy angels and the demonic so we can live out of christ in us or we can live out of self flesh i mean our flesh doesn't have a conscience our flesh does not want to obey god your flesh wants to sit on the couch and eat chocolate bon bons and not obey the lord it's your flesh we live in this body we live in a fallen world there's angels around us holy angels there's demons around us evil spirits there's our spirit inside when we're born again christ is one with our spirit we have a soul which things are filtered through our natural senses we have spiritual senses so as a born-again christian we can live out of the flesh or we can live out of the holy spirit or christians can live out of demonic inspiration we can move in all three zones we can we can live out of fear darkness unbelief even though christ is in us we could live out of that if we choose or we can live out of light faith truth and love we can live out of christ in us so we're going to talk about that god is doing a sovereign work in me in you in us where he's working in us to bring a greater unity of the holy spirit that begins with each one of us being more in union with him the way unity of the spirit comes is i've said this in the last few weeks c.s lewis said it he said it's like a wheel with a hub the hub is christ he's the center christ is the great i am and as we focus on having right relationship with him every spoke is rightly related to the hub we're automatically rightly related to each other but god's doing things in all of us because he wants to bring all of us into greater union with him and each other because in the unity of the spirit god commands the blessing that's the work he's doing a sovereign work in us so we want to know how to live out of the spirit so i can walk in union with him and with my brother and sister unity of the spirit is not based on everybody agreeing on every little thing it's based on love it doesn't mean i agree on everything and you agree on everything it means i love you and you love me we can be in unity i guarantee you i can be in unity of the spirit with a baptist who loves god yes i can and so can you it's not based on agreement on every doctrine it's based on the love of christ and that's what god's looking for because in that place he's going to command the blessing amen that unity is described in ephesians chapter 1 we've read it numerous times paul said i therefore the prisoner of the lord i beseech you to walk worthy of this calling the calling he's referring to is to be coming built together into a holy dwelling place where god's manifesting in fullness that's ephesians two and three he said walk worthy of that calling to be full of god how with all lowliness gentleness longsuffering bearing with one another in love seeking to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace that's walking worthy of habitation so that's the work god's wanting to do and he is doing it you may not think he's doing it you may even have some kind of relational friction going on but god sovereignly may be allowing that to bring it to the surface to get healed to bring more unity that's right we had a powerful confirmation of the lord through that again i shared it it con encouraged me so much to hear what the lord told kevin zadai he said right now ministers should be equipping the saints for unity so they can receive power to be my witnesses because it's a great harvest so we're going to talk about that god wants us to be baptized in the holy spirit and fire more than we want it yes he does he's wanting to maneuver us to a place where we can receive it that's why he's working in us this way he should understand what he's trying to do now last week we talked about discerning the lord's body remember that we talked about who we are who christ is in us and how the corinthian church wasn't doing so well at a certain point because there was division among them and the reason there was is paul said you're not discerning the body so we talked about how christ loves us he washes he indwells us we're born again we're seated in the heavenlies when we discern what god's done for us then we realize he's done the same for the person next to me we discern the body next to us it changes the way we treat people now in matthew chapter 13 44 is the shortest parable in the bible at least i believe it is it's the shortest parable but one of the most powerful ones here's what jesus said the kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field which a man found and he hid it and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and he buys that field that's the whole parable that's the whole thing jesus christ the son of the living god who never had a beginning or an end who's always existed he's always been god he came to the earth and told us the kingdom is like a man that found a treasure hidden in a dirt field and when he found it he was so full of joy he went and sold everything he had to buy that field because there was a treasure in it what is he talking about he's talking about christ in us here's what second corinthians chapter 4 says we don't preach ourselves but christ jesus the lord and ourselves your bond servants for jesus sake for it is god who commanded light to shine out of darkness he is shown in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of god in the face of jesus so god who made heaven and earth he spoke let there be light god spoke in the light of christ shone in our heart he said but we have this treasure he's talking about the the glory of god in the face of jesus his light shining in our heart he said we have this treasure in earthen vessels so the kingdom is like someone who a christian who realized one day my sins are forgiven when i receive christ the spirit of christ is in me christ is in me and he realizes there is a treasure in me and if christ is in me i can walk with him like he walked with the father if christ lives in me his life can come out of me if he lives in me the sky's the limit there is no limit if jesus lives in me he can't live in me unless my sins are forgiven that means i'm born again i'm a new creature christ lives in me jesus said that's the kingdom when we realize that we'll give up whatever we'll sell whatever to have this life but if we don't recognize the treasure within us we're in danger of living like mere men instead of god men and women christ is in you the hope of glory i spoke to us last week about that he said when we discern christ in us we discern who we are and who our brother and sister is paul said if anyone is in christ he is a new creation old things have passed away all things have become new you are not a normal person will you please bear with me for a few minutes because i want to repeat what i said last week and i don't want you to say to yourself i've heard this before you need to hear it again you need to hear that you are loved that christ lives in you that you're a new creature that your sins are washed away that old things are gone you need to hear it i'm gonna pray right now i pray in the name of jesus hold on i bind every mind-blinding spirit from preventing us from hearing lord i ask you to release right now the spirit of wisdom and revelation i break witchcraft i break mind-blinding spirits that god the eyes of our heart will be flooded with light that we will hear with our spiritual ears the truth of jesus now you are just let me do this and don't argue with me all right you are loved by god behold what manner of love the fathers bestowed on us that we should be called children of god god so loved the world he gave his son because of what jesus did for you ephesians 1 says he has made you accepted in the beloved listen let this sink in romans 15 says receive each other as god in christ has received you you're a child of god god is faithful by whom you were called into the fellowship of his son not only you born again washed in the blood of jesus indwelt by the son of god but god gave christ to us so that we could fellowship with him first corinthians 6 17 your spirit is united to jesus you and god your spirit are one you are a temple of god his spirit lives in you christ lives in you're a member of his body god calls you a saint let me say it to you again you are redeemed and forgiven colossians 2 10 says in christ you've been made complete you are chosen of god you're holy and you're dearly beloved colossians 3 12. second corinthians 1 21 says you've been anointed by the holy spirit and sealed by god you've not been given a spirit of fear you have a spirit in the holy spirit of love power to sound mind you're god's co-worker you are not will be you are seated in the heavenly places in christ you have direct access to god ephesians 2 18 shut your eyes open your mouth the moment you pray you have direct access to almighty god you've been given grace exceedingly in abundant promises by which you can partake of the nature of god you've been assured of god's presence he said in hebrews 13 he'll never leave you god philippians 2 is working inside you right now both to will and to do of his good pleasure all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in christ and christ is in you you can ask james says for wisdom and god will give it generously that's who you are in christ that's who the person next to us is we are not natural people we're supernatural people we're god people and god preordained the times and the boundaries of when we would be born and where we would live now god foreordained that the best time for you to be alive is right now at the end of the age god foreordained the best place for you to live is right where you live right now god for ordained it we are members of one another members of each other romans 12 5. we're part of each other we're going to be together for a long time now that's just a reminder of who you are your supernatural person we're gonna we're talking about living out of christ in us living out of that we have the choice of what we live out of but sometimes if we're not aware of that we who are born again new creatures seated in the heavenlies our past is washed away our sins are gone christ is in us if we're not aware of it and don't choose to live out of christ we can walk around like mere mortal men and that's not who we are here's what happened to the corinthian church we saw that they had division among them because they weren't discerning the body now if who i just said you are that's who the person next to you is that means the person next to you is royalty you are royalty god did not make his other creation to be sons and daughters of god he made you and me to be that he made this world and all the all the animal life and all the everything in this to be subject to us the sons of god he's prepared listen to this i was rereading matthew chapter 25 the sheep and the goats and a phrase stuck out to me again he said to the wicked depart from me you curse it i was hungry naked poor in prison sick you didn't help me they said when we didn't see you he said whenever you didn't do it to the least of mine you didn't do it to me then watch what he said depart you cursed into the lake of fire here's the word prepared for the devil and his angels then he said to the righteous come you righteous blessed are my father i was hungry naked sick in prison poor i was a stranger you visited me you fed me you helped me you love me they said when we never saw you listen he said when you did it to the littlest person of mine you did it to me he didn't say it's like doing it to me he said you did it to me because that's my body now listen what he says come you blessed of my father inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world now who are you you are sons and daughters of the most high god that god has prepared for you a kingdom from before we were created god prepared a kingdom that's what he said have you ever thought of that that god's kingdom has been prepared for you your royalty you are royalty your life matters now here's what happened corinthian church in the first corinthians now they're still having some division and schism and it comes back to the same issue they were walking like mere men and not in their identity in christ first corinthians chapter three that's why i said all that i said about our identity who we are who christ is in us because when we walk and live out of christ it changes the way we treat each other first corinthians 3 verse 1 i brethren could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal as to babes in christ i fed you with milk and not with solid food for until now you are not able to receive it and even now you are still not able for you are still carnal for where there are envy strife and divisions among you are you not carnal and behaving like mere men there it is why was there carnality why was there division he said because they were behaving like mere men we're not to behave like mere men we're sons and daughters of the most high god we're new creatures christ lives in us is anybody getting this tell the person next to you you're not a mere man you're a god person tell them you have an eternal destiny you're being prepared for great things so because they forgot who they were they forgot what christ had done they forgot christ was living in them they forgot that they forgot their identity they started living like mere men here's how they did it they said i'm of apollos i'm of paul paul led me to the lord apollos led me to the lord we're following apollos we're of apollos group we're of paul's group their identity was like a mere man and it said that's not their identity they should have said we're blood washed sons of god the kingdom has been prepared for us and it doesn't matter who led you to christ you're in christ and christ is in you now we do similar he said he goes on he said who is paul who's apollos they're ministers through whom you believed the lord gave each one now watch paul said i planted apollos watered but god gave the increase now listen please so then neither is he who plants anything and he waters is nothing but god is the one that gives the increase then he reminds him in verse 16 he's telling them do you know it's god that's in you he said do you not know that you are the temple of god and the spirit of god dwells in you that's our identity now we do this without realizing it today we can put our identity in our function or fill in the blank in our skin color in our race in our past sins well i was a heroin addict well i did this that's not your identity you're new in christ well i'm this color i'm that or i'm italian or i'm that's not your identity you're a new creature in christ in christ there's no there's no jew there's no greek there's no barbarian no free man no slave no male no female you're a new creature in christ that's our identity but the devil wants us to get our identity and get us walking like mere men and forgetting that christ is in us but when christ when we realize christ is in us it makes us walk and think and talk differently not proud but royally there's a difference you can be humble and royal at the same time now he said you could not receive he said solid milk he said i had to give you milk and not solid food because you were still walking carnal meaning they were walking in a different identity than christ by the way if you read hebrews 5 verse 12 to 14 he talks about solid food and milk he said solid food is for those who by use by reason of use have exercised their spiritual senses to discern good and evil in other words believers learn to become sensitive to the holy spirit they when you go in a situation and you get and and in your spirit you back out that sometimes see people that are carnal override that oh i don't care i'm mad i'm gonna do it anyway has anybody ever done that you start going somewhere and you get a little and you go i don't care the dumbest thing we could ever do the dumbest thing you can ever do is override the nudgings of the holy spirit he said that's what carnality is they haven't exercised their spiritual senses to discern between good and evil we are spiritual people god lives in you you're a sheep you hear his voice god talks to you now don't think that you to hear god that you have to hear a voice god does sometimes speak by a voice but most of the time as the sheep of god the way god communicates to you is by knowings you just know it in your nowhere you know it in your spirit it's by feelings you god can even impart you his mood that's how god communicates you're a sheep so the mature have learned to be sensitive in the spirit and follow the leading of the holy spirit we discern voices that are talking to us so we practice seeing hearing tasting smelling discerning between good and evil and then we can eat the meat our identity is not our function it's not anything else it's not i'm a singer i'm a intercessor i'm a pastor it's not our identity we're new creatures in christ christ lives in us now understanding these new creation realities how do we live out of the spirit of course we're not going to cover it all in one day but we'll touch it we have the choice to live out of our soul that's our own reasonings we are we can live out of the demonic realm because demonic spirits can inspire us and if we don't discern it and it affects our thinking we can become demonically motivated chris spirit-filled christians can have demons they can't be a christian can't be demon-possessed a demon can't live inside your spirit with god the bible says they can't dwell together but a christian can be demon influenced and demon-oppressed i'll show you from the scriptures see for example the bible says do not let the sun go down on your anger ephesians next verse neither give place to the devil now when we yield to sin any sin and you yield to it when you yield to it you get a demon i'm not saying you're demon-possessed but that spirit will come and attach itself to your thinking it'll follow you around it'll cling to you i call them hitchhikers for example if you're someone who who gets into pornography if you don't repent the moment that starts to come on repent and reject it if you give in to it you'll get a spirit it'll come right there now once the spirit's on you you can't say if you don't discern you have a demon you can't overcome it because it follows you everywhere and drives you into it if you give in to bitterness unforgiveness or resentment you'll get a demon it'll attach to you and it'll feed that we've all had it we've all had that one come on the demon will help you rehearse it he'll tell you what a victim you are and how unfair you've been treated and he'll tell you that over and over and over until you agree with him and it starts by us giving not discerning it and then giving it place so a spiritual christian can live out of christ i can live out of my flesh or i can live out of the demonic now how do we how do we do this romans 6 says verse 3 do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into christ we were baptized into his death therefore we were buried with him through death through baptism into death how we know we died with christ already now contrast this with this verse colossians 3 5 therefore put to death your members which are on the earth fornication on cleanest passion evil desire covetousness which is idolatry now one verse says you have died and the other verse says die you have died now put this to death so which is it here's what it is in christ in christ or dead in christ we've been crucified and risen again we have the opportunity of the flesh in our soul to operate out of sinfulness or out of the spirit for example colossians 2 10 it says you are complete in him that word complete means perfect made whole lacking nothing in christ you're complete but ii corinthians 13 11 says become complete so you are complete become complete let me give you another one we're going to try to resolve this just a minute second peter 1 verse 3 says his divine power has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness he's already given it to us but then it says we partake of the divine nature through these exceedingly great and precious promises and it tells us in corinthians pursue it so god says you have died die you've been made perfect become perfect you've been given everything go after everything what anybody following me now what now what how do we resolve this here's what's going on we are a new creation we have our own soul our soul can go with the spirit of god with our or with our own human psyche our own reasonings it can go with the flesh or can go with the demonic so abiding the place of complete i am dead i am complete i am i do have the divine is when we walk in the spirit and abide in christ that's where everything is so he's choosing to live out of our identity in christ and follow the leading of the holy spirit the bible says those that are led by the spirit they are the sons of god okay now here's we're here's where we're going galatians 5 16 it says walk in the spirit and you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh so our christian walk with god isn't focused on not doing the flesh or not being demonic inspired here's what our christian walk is it's focused on walking in the spirit so when we understand our identity and who christ is in us and we choose to walk in that he said when you walk in the spirit you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh so the christian life is not man i'm tempted on every side i'm trying not to sin that's not the christian life because if if that is we're going to be stumbling every other time the christian life is i'm a new creature christ is in me i'm going to keep my mind on him the bible says it that walk in the spirit have their mind set on the things of the spirit when i walk in the spirit i overcome the flesh that's it it says in romans 8 if you live according to the flesh you'll die but if by the spirit you put to death the deeds of the flesh you'll live so our flesh can't put our flesh to death our soul can't put our flesh to death that's psychology and reasonings can't put our flesh to death but the spirit can put the flesh to death when we walk in the spirit we overcome the flesh okay now how do we do that colossians 3 are you with me do you have your bible can you follow along is this helping anybody colossians 3 living out of christ verse 1 if then you were raised with christ seek those things which are above where christ is sitting at the right hand of god set your mind on things above now things above doesn't have to necessarily be physically above in other words distance it's the spirit realm is above the soul in the flesh the spirit of christ set your mind he said you were you died and you raised with christ didn't you anybody in here died and raised with christ he said since that's a reality you've already been dead you've already been raised you're a new creature he said since that's the reality set your mind up where christ is set your mind in the spirit i'm a new creature my sins are washed away i'm seated in the heavenlies listen how would your prayer life change if every time you close your eyes to pray you saw yourself seated in the heavenlies you're now above every problem with christ so it's easy you say lord you and i are above all this what's the next step i should take set your mind there for you died in your life is hidden with christ in god when christ who is our life appears you will appear with him in glory so therefore put to death your members which are on the earth fornication unclean is passion and it goes on evil desire covetousness which idolatry because of these things the wrath of god is coming on the sons of disobedience which you yourself once walked in them when you lived in them now watch he's he's how did he said put those to death but romans told us how he said walk in the spirit and the spirit will put it to death it's quiet in here he said you yourselves have put off all these others just turn away from them anger wrath malice blasphemy filthy language don't lie to each other you've put off the old man you put on the new man the new man's renewed in knowledge according to the image of him who created him where there's neither greek nor jew circumcised or uncircumcised barbarian scythian slaver free but christ is all and then all so he said put off the old how with your thinking set your mind where christ is put it off you're dead [Music] you're a new creature then he said put on the new man put it on like close as elect of god holy and beloved put on tender mercies kindness humility meekness long suffering bearing with one another forgiving one another if anyone has a complaint against each other even as christ and god forgave you you also must do but above all these things put on love which is a bond of perfection now he's going to tell us right now how to walk in the spirit he's what he's telling us how to live number one set your mind where christ is okay number two he says when anger all that stuff of the flesh tries to manifest just turn away from it it's like taking an old dirty shirt off put it off put on a different shirt okay we don't have to fight against anger mount we don't have to fight against it it's already defeated what we have to do is just put it off like you put off a dirty shirt put on the new one in christ okay i put on my new identity in christ what am i putting on tender mercies kindness humility meekness long suffering put it on like a garment bear with each other forgive each other as god in christ forgive you also do it put on love it's the bond of perfection he's telling us how to live out of christ put it on here's a here's a great one the next verse let the peace of god rule in your heart now the peace of god is how we are led many many times by the holy spirit the word rule means make the call like an umpire over a plate when you know in baseball they throw a pitch and if he'll say it's a strike or a foul or or whatever i mean a striker a ball okay the umpire makes the call so he said in our walk with god let the peace of god be the umpire are you listening this is how we stay that's how we live out of the spirit when anger malice starts to come we say no i'm putting you off like a dirty rag i'm putting you off i'm putting on tender mercies i'm walking in my new royal identity as a blood washed daughter a blood washed son of god this is what i'm walking in my mind is set where christ is i am seated in the heavenlies i put off that and now i'm putting on kindness gentleness i'm putting it on and he said and i'm letting now the devil will try to get you out of peace peace is the linchpin to all the fruit of the spirit if you can keep your peace you'll keep the fruit of the spirit so he said let peace rule that'll keep you in the spirit if the devil gets you to lose your peace he gets you out of the spirit and now you're in the flesh if you stay in the flesh very long demons will come they'll help you stay in the flesh so peace then he said be thankful now remember we were told in galatians and romans the way to to live above the works of the flesh is walk in the spirit so he's telling us how to do it put off the nasty stuff put on the good stuff let peace rule when you start to feel peace leave your heart stop and get back to the place of peace and you'll be in the spirit the kingdom of god is righteousness and peace and joy then he said be thankful now getting in the spirit is where the victory over the flesh and the devil is how to get in the spirit be thankful some people have said i have a hard time my prayer life is dry if you spend time thanking god your prayer life will never be dry thankfulness brings you in through his gates your inner gates with thanksgiving so he's telling us put on tenderness and love stay in peace be thankful what's this what's he telling us live in christ live in the spirit realm then he tells us again how to stay in the spirit let the word of christ dwell in you richly teaching and admonishing one another with songs in him spirit we did it today now there's some songs that are praised and some are worship and some songs are neither they're singing to each other like we sang today amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me i once was lost but now i'm found was blind but now i see it was his grace that taught my heart to fear his grace my fear relieved how precious did that grace appear the hour i first believed it's not praise or worship we're admonishing and singing to one another so he said do that put on tenderness be thankful stay in peace sing to each other songs and hymns he's saying if you do this you'll stay in the spirit they said whatever you do in word or deed do it all in the name of the lord jesus i was pondering that early early this morning i said what would my life be like if everything i did i asked myself first am i doing this in the name of jesus you know when you just walk out and say i don't feel like talking right now in the name of jesus i'm leaving no it doesn't work have you what would happen if everything we did we say can i do this in the name of jesus that doesn't fit it doesn't fit he said so everything you do do it in the name of jesus giving thanks to god i'm telling you colossians chapter 3 from verses 12 to 17 those five verses tell us how to walk in the spirit and if we walk in the spirit we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh we'll live out of our new identity in christ now it's very possible and it does happen to us because we live in a body we're surrounded by fallen angels demons and holy angels we live in a fallen world we have the potential from going in the spirit that if we are not careful that we can get out of the spirit and into the flesh and then if we stay in the flesh we can get a demon come and oppress us and then we can be demonically inspired a corvette can go from zero to 60 in 3.2 seconds christians can go from the spirit to the flesh to the demonic in two minutes or less it can happen me give you an example that's why he's telling us how to live in the spirit that's why he had to correct the corinthians he said you're you're walking like mere men he said don't you know that you're the temple of god he said but there's conflict there's stuff among you he said you're the temple of god here's what happened to peter matthew 16. now remember i quoted this to you before ephesians 4 26-27 it says be angry but don't sin neither give place to the devil don't let the sun go down on your wrath that verse tells us that when we yield to any kind of sin it gives place to demonic spirits it does again a christian can't be possessed but they can be oppressed we can have them influence us attached to us so if you go to bed mad with unforgiveness you're going to wake up with a demon connected to your neck so that in the morning he'll rehearse it all and make sure that you stay mad all day and his purpose is to kill steal and destroy your life and your relationships my life and my relationships so i said don't give place to the devil he's talking to christians here's peter in matthew chapter 16 says when jesus came into the region of caesarea philippi he asked his disciples saying who do men say that i the son of man am so they said some say john the baptist some elijah others jeremiah or one of the prophets but he said to them who do you say that i am simon peter answered and said you are the christ the son of the living god jesus answered and said to him blessed are you simon barjona for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you but my father who is in heaven and i also say to you that you are peter and on this rock i will build my church now simon his name means reed that's what simon means a reed is something that blows in the wind jesus renamed him and called him rock peter means rock so god calls the things that are not as though they are doesn't he so he said read that's what simon means you can look read i'm changing your name my father has revealed to you who i am but in me you're not a reed in me you're a rock that's what he was saying he said on this revelation that i am the christ the son of the living god i'm going to build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it and i will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven then he commanded his disciples that they should tell no one that he was jesus the christ are you with me verse 21 from that time jesus began to show to his disciples that he must go to jerusalem suffer many things from the elders and chief priests scribes and be killed and be raised the third day then peter took jesus aside and began to rebuke him saying far be it from you lord that this should happen to you now peter just went from being in the spirit he got revelation directly from the father he said i know who you are you're the son of the living god the christ jesus said blessed are you peter no flesh and bloods revealed that to you my father revealed that so peter was tapped into heavenly revelation three verses later he's tapped into demonic revelation peter pulled him aside far be it from you lord this shall not happen to you but jesus turned and said to peter get behind me satan you're an offense to me for you're not mindful of the things of god but the things of man how did peter go from hearing god to hearing satan in under two minutes the same way we can if we don't discern we have to discern the thoughts that are coming through our mind is it love mercy forgiveness is it colossians 3 verses 12 to 17 is it thankfulness kindness forgiving as christ forgave that's walking in the spirit if it's not according to that it's something else and here's jesus assessment he said peter your revelation is so far off because you're judging according to the things of man not of god colossians says if we're going to walk in the spirit he said set your mind where christ is on the things of god we are seated in the heavenlies with christ so in in every situation our question to god is what do you think lord what's your take on this what are you saying about this what's your perspective and then we're hearing from the lord come on somebody peter wasn't looking at the situation from god's perspective how did satan now if our eyes were opened maybe someday when we get to heaven we'll be able to see the scene played out and we'll see in the spirit realm where was satan was he standing right behind peter with his hands on his shoulder tell him he should never go to the cross peter got an inspiration from jesus identified where that inspiration came from he said it came from satan he just said get behind me satan you're an offense to me but peter didn't discern it because what was he operating out of see jesus said you're judging by man's view not god's view so human reasoning can exalt itself against the knowledge of god human reasoning can come from pride that we don't even realize we have it what was p peter was thinking i know what's best any anybody can figure out see how our human reason jesus peter's thinking out loud about jesus you shouldn't be betrayed you're a good person that's not something that should happen so peter's in pride and doesn't know he's in pride he thinks he knows better than the son of god what to do so because of his pride satan was able to get it in road and tell him he had to be rebuked so that's how we are all of us we're in this world and we have to learn to discern the life of christ that's in us discern the holy spirit and live out of the spirit and not out of the the flesh or the demonic so the thoughts that we have to filter is thoughts that come through our mind is it of christ is it love let me can i go back and read what colossians says so here's the filter for us in colossians 3 he said we're if we've been dead you've been you've been dead and raised with christ he said set your mind on things above not on the earth isn't that what jesus told peter you're mindful of the things of man you missed it so to walk in the spirit our mind has to be on the things above then he tells us how let me just read these again put off anger wrath malice all that stuff don't lie you've been renewed according to the image of christ so he says here's what we put on mercy kindness humility meekness long-suffering bearing with one another forgiving one another even as god in christ has forgiven us we must do to others put on love so so he's saying to live out of christ who's in us we our mind has to be renewed to this and it has to be a filter on our mind to discern thoughts that come to us all of us have thoughts we're in a spiritual warfare we're in a spiritual warfare the devil wants to give me thoughts to accuse you he wants to give you thoughts to accuse them and if we're not careful we don't discern it i years ago i i've had this experience i've had spiritual voice speak to me it's happened years ago years ago at night that i thought was a word of knowledge and within a moment i certainly it was a demon speaking to me trying to give me to act like it was a word of knowledge but i realized it was an accusation and the fruit of it was making me angry i said i repent i said that was a demon trying to talk to me so here's our here's our filter here's what we're coming down to we're new creatures in christ we've been dyed buried resurrected we're new in christ all we really need to do is set our mind in the heavenlies walk in the spirit and we will be above the flesh but the way it works paul it's all in in colossians our mind has to be in the heavenly realm our mind has to be on christ we have to renew put on mercy gentleness goodness long-suffering patience love forgiving one another and then thankfulness letting the word of christ dwell in us richly he said now we have a we have a filter on our heart when the enemy tries to talk to us it's filtered through this we can reject thoughts that don't line up with that we stay in the spirit we stay in peace you stay in christ these are the sons of god at the end of the age these are the sons and daughters of god at the end of the age that said man i'm my mind's gonna be renewed to christ i'm gonna we can all do this it's quiet in here we can all do this we can do this is it possible that we can is it possible that a christian could be in the spirit yes it is you can come out of your prayer closet and five minutes later be demonized yes you can it you could you come in deputy don't praise the lord hallelujah somebody can come along and trigger you some area of your soul that's not sanctified you can give in to anger and if you yield to that anger within three or four minutes you'll have a demon feeding it you can go from the spirit to the flesh to the demonic in under five minutes if you don't have the word of god dwell it says let the word of christ dwell in you richly put on tinder put but if the word is in us and our minds being renewed to love mercy gentleness long-suffering and and those something tries to come even when we start to get triggered our spirit man will rise up and say nope i'm staying in the peace of god nope i'm not going to get mad today nope i forgive nope i'm not thinking about that i'm thinking about love come on this is the overcomers these are the overcomers at the end of the age all right i'm just going to finish uh let me give us all some homework to do okay read colossians chapter 3 verse 1 through 17. these are the instructions how many think paul knew how to walk in the spirit now if i stood up here and i s and i said i got a new book by neville johnson everybody's going to want to come and buy it but what if i told you i have a book by the apostle paul he told us how to walk in the spirit it's right here in colossians it's right here he's telling us how said your mind and the heavenlies put on tender mercies stay thankful stay in the spirit these are the sons of god that's what we're talking about living out of christ the the more you and i live out of christ the greater harmony and we're going to have with god and with each other that's what god wants he he wants to have a people he can baptize in the holy spirit and fire fresh fire fresh baptisms in the name of jesus holy holy
