okay youtubers let's G be coins and we're going to do something that we didn't think we were going to do but you know what just got to do it the curiosity is is getting me now this is a roll of second Julia Gold as they're called dollars this is the 2000 P this is the infamous if you want to call it that 2000 P I've had this role since it was first issued you can see they're brand new coins as of 2000 so as of the date of the video here I've had these this roll of coins for almost 15 years knowing that the 2000 P had a very high percentage of errors and varieties in them I haven't opened them because I figured okay if there's some in there I want to keep them but it'll do me any good in there and if they're not in there then these are only really worth a dollar or two you know as a collectible coin it might be worth a cop you know maybe some of they give you 2 3 bucks form because of of what they are if the condition holds up inside the roll we've seen some dollar rolls recently that we did on video and they weren't in that greatest shape and we got some questions and it's just the quality or lack of quality that some of the coins that came from the mint but this particular roll the this particular year of this coin was was fairly unique in the sense that it was a new design it was something that the mint was trying pretty much for the first time in this series and it lent itself to the opportunity of a lot of mistakes for want of a better term errors varieties that came out of it there are a few that are very commonly known which is and I'm going to have to give you a little demonstration here before we open these and I apologize in advance I am NOT an artist okay but I can't use the pictures from the source books to demonstrate this to you so I gotta make do on the backside of the coin there's the Eagle okay and this is what I'm basically drawing here to represent the Eagle it kind of looks more like a dying chicken as George Washington called it when the first coins were issued and presented to them there is an error and I'm going to show you different parts of this in different drawings there is one error where there is additional metal I got to look at the drawing itself there's something that resembles that where some material got on the dies and it got impressed into the coins and that's called a pierced eagle the pierced eagle is worth a few bucks there's not a lot of them known out there so it's going to be kind of a market-driven thing for that particular error but there's a couple of other errors that are also known errors that you can put them more of a dollar figure on one is on the tail feathers right here on the back you've got the tail feathers on the tail feathers this is kind of like when you're looking at a lot of the other old coins you know like President Kennedy's hair for example or the steps on Monticello whether or not you actually can visibly see the lines like on an Indian Head or a wheat penny on the coin the majority of them were stamped with the tail feathers resembling this just a normal you know series of feathers this down here you can see I've drawn there's more detail to the feathers you have the individual feathers visible okay this is known as old tail feathers okay and the bold down here you can come down here you'll see 2000 P boldly detailed tail feathers 5500 known to exist and as of the 2015 red book which again that's only a reference that number could be anything but that's what they're saying that in this condition if we find one with boldly detailed tail feathers that's the kind of money we're talking about for one coin okay now there's another one that I didn't know about Glenna Goodacre is the lady that designed these coins for the mint she does when she designs Sacagawea they presented her as payment 5000 of these coins so $5,000 instead of giving her dollar bills as we've talked about in some of our other videos instead of dollar bills they gave her metal interesting so they gave them to her with a presentation finish so if we see one with an odd finish it could be one of the Glenna Goodacre presentation finished coins and if it's an MS 65 condition which is a brand-new coins 675 bucks again that's what the known market value for the known 5000 quantity now my ugly artwork aside here's a couple more that I didn't know about this is just an nsstring roll and clearly they were delivered to the bank ready for circulation the books that I've checked all say mm P okay what it also says is because of the experimentation that I mentioned they used different finishes that I mentioned so you've got to watch for the color of the coin the finish there could be a satin finish there could be the presentation finish those are all varieties that are worth money the other thing that happened is they stamped on the Eagle side on some of them they stamped quarters so instead of having an eagle you've got a quarter stamped on there they have a lot of those type of errors according to all the reference materials that I can find obviously I've never opened this roll it's the only one I kept so we're gonna trying to do this live we're already in almost nine minutes in and again you know obviously you can see I'm wearing the white gloves because if we do find something if it's worth that kind of money I want to make sure we do this the right way um I grabbed one out of here gently God look how beautiful that thing is that that was face in toward the roll so I mean you can see the condition of it I don't see a pierced eagle and it looks to be regular feathers not boldly detailed but I'm going to set that aside very carefully because I mean these things are just in such gorgeous shape nothing on the front nothing on the edges here mr. Eagle I don't see any boldly tail feathers now he this one's not in as good a shape as the first one so I'm gonna set him off to the other side try and very carefully get through these really quickly this one also doesn't look as good as the first one regular tail feathers no piercing through the breasts she looks good this side doesn't look too bad she looks okay that was spotted on the front standard feathers no piercing oops I want to Clank those like that standard feathers gosh no no piercing I thought there was something there but it's just the trick of the light okay she goes over there there's a really nice-looking one really pretty one backs okay no piercing no bald feathers no piercing no bull feathers on this one she looks okay on that one nope old feathers no piercing on this one she's very spotted on that one so you can see I mean even from the bank these aren't always great that looks normal nothing unusual there another really pretty back no Bowl feathers no piercing obviously if half a dozen of these are in really nice shape like that that's probably what we'll hang on to but that one looks nice a lot of spots on this one a lot of spots on this one it's amazing how the condition within the same role can change this one's really spotted up apologize hard for me to use these gloves don't see anything unusual on the backside there we're almost through the roll standard feathers no piercing backsides got a something on it front sides okay but not great nothing unusual there very spotted up standard feathers no piercing or is that standard feathers yeah that's a really shiny back no piercing standard feathers that's a nice-looking coin to this one I can tell from picking it up it's spotted really bad no piercing no tail feathers and I'm not noticing a significant change in finish that we talked about so they all seem to be the same finish nothing unusual there but a very nice specimen of that coin I get asked the question all the time what do you mean specimen it's to me if it's something worthy of going in your collection or to us we call it a specimen coin because there's collectible coins and there's coins that are not collectible and if it's a nice specimen you know kind of like that term if it's a nice specimen and it's worth keeping if it's a lousy specimen it goes back to the bank this one's got a couple small bag marks on it no piercings and the faces got bag marks on it too I didn't find any errors that are obvious which we had but we've got 9 out of the 25 that are you know potential keepers so as always camera girl gets the last say we don't I don't know if we need 9 of these but we'll see what they're worth you know we may we may keep those 9 and and you know keep two of them for ourselves and sell the rest who knows but anyway hope you guys found this interesting so till next time JB coins signing off
