LIVE SNOWSTORM in NYC! - Dec 16, 2020

this might have been a mistake welcome anyone joining since this is the first real snow in new york of the 2020 winter season and it's windy and it's difficult to navigate with a gimbal that's likely not water resistant and an no umbrella i got the gloves i gotta put [Music] i am in peter cooper village i had a plan and that plan was to go to the brooklyn bridge but i tried to go near the east river and it was so windy i don't think going on a bridge is a good idea right now currently i need to stop over under under some cover and put my gloves up that's the current plan now mike tyson said everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth this uh this windstorm just the snowstorm just punched me in the mouth everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth i think i saw action could go live just a second before me a few minutes before i hope he's doing okay because this is more brutal than i expected so welcome to those of you joined case you're curious i am bundled up ready to go i'm trying to use my supposedly touch enabled gloves to make a temporary switch of cameras hello let's go back all right as mentioned i'm in peter cooper village you can see piece of my but only my phone is waterproof and if i don't want the gimbal to die on me halfway through i should have taken the other gimbal i guess it is what it is okay the wind has calmed down for a moment but we know this is just beginning the wind is only going to get stronger as the night goes on and the snow comes down honey tiny smallic i mean in binghamton i imagine so i mean you guys are probably used to much heavier snow than we are here but now we are currently battling logistics logistics of an umbrella and a gimbal oh of course a freezing wind that's no match for my gloves okay my umbrella probably won't break but it can get inverted easily whoops put that back oh hello you're in skytown well that's not urine by the way that's just a yellow thing should all go visit gustavo god i went outside pulled out my phone i saw action kid went live too i was going to go live in a different spot but the wind was so heavy and strong that i changed my mind i think well i'm still walking south maybe i'm gonna go back north i'm gonna go into the city maybe i'll be more protected from the wind but i think that sometimes the buildings can create wind tunnels also so that's that's a concern snow is here if you're channel hopping action kid is probably streaming in midtown right now lots of stuff to see there's of course continues to be more picturesque christmas scene yeah connie it's expensive i mean a lot of folks still living here were from the good days of styletown status in town where apartments were rent controlled or stabilized and it was a nice place to grow up as a kid ah so hey ivy lynn good evening from new york city the snow is here usually oh my goodness the wind the wind is like weird it's not strong but it's somehow trying to lift me up like mary poppins um so we're learning new things about streaming in the snow with a supposedly non-waterproof gimbal or non-splash resistant gimbal and that's even with gloves because i'm holding two things one in each hand that's cooling down my hands significantly so what i can do is i can lodge my umbrella under my left arm switch hands and start pumping that's that's what i'm doing the other option is to walk ridiculously fast i think the wind noise is also going to start picking up i'm not using an extra microphone jack you're recording about six inches all right all right like currently where you are oh in delaware okay okay so it's really already coming down there the skytown cafe taco cat yes snow is here the snow is here and with it the wind the cold and all that good stuff and that coffee shop they get some nice views from in there at the uh at the oval out here nice hot cup of coffee can't really sit inside right now because indoor dining is closed but they'd be able to view impending lizard conditions overnight i need to invent the snuggie for gimbals everyone says yes and i need better gloves so i'm gonna kind of peel away from the river my original plan was to be closer to the rivers if you rob keep warm and safe thank you i will try you too right now we are testing the limits of water accumulation on the gimbal you know if it breaks it was for science i say or art or both [Music] [Music] coming you know i'm going to wait for this wind to pass and let this truck do whatever it's doing we're going to stay here for a second and just see what that what that truck is about to try to do but no matter where you stop you'll find some some snow to look at this is one of our basketball break playgrounds and mark clap i have a a canada goose jacket that's keeping me very warm warm up walk faster or switch hands and pump the hand the problem is i have an umbrella maybe i should just ditch the umbrella and hope for the best with this gimbal the phone i'm not worried about the phone is an iphone 12 mini the gimbal concerning but you know i'm kind of sick of this game but it's horizon issues anyway so if you can't survive a little snow maybe it wasn't meant to be that's the bottom line i guess i could always oh no but it's no it's wednesday so if things truly go bad with the gimbal i can walk over to b h mia con there's more snow where i i'm interesting yeah there was more snow when dutchmas was streaming earlier in coney island too i think i think it's just sticking a lot more to grassy areas right now is what it seems uh pretty much yeah the lower east side is kind of the general designation here but this is stuyvesant town yeah i mean the snow the snow isn't melting when it hits me but i guess it's still melting when it hits the ground the pavement um let's walk up towards stuyvesant park and see what the deal is there i'm sure it's the same deal as it is here but honestly i'm just trying to keep off the bigger streets and hope i can avoid some wind uh if i go under the scaffolding i'll get some respite but i hate going under scaffolding so i'm just gonna go across the street jesus evening from slovenia almost 11 hello from south park area okay so i guess now we've kind of started walking eastward oh the stuyvesant story um maybe gustavo can help with some of the background but i know a lot of the areas around here are named after peter stuyvesant yeah it seemed like brooklyn started getting all the snow first so i think you guys are getting whatever's coming here oh is that the rule if they get a foot they're going to have to take down the outdoor snowing after dining yeah i think that's not that you're kind of um reminding me that i did want to do a big dog hello i did want to do a little bit of a piece on the history of stuyvesant sound and i think that um including the history of peter stuyvesant is going to be a good part of that so thank you for reminding me maybe i'll do that as a collab with somebody just to
