[siren] MIKE MUSCUTT: So
one of our units just reported that they're
in pursuit of a vehicle. They tried to do a
traffic stop on it. The vehicle's traveling
at a high rate of speed, so we're going to
try to catch up. MIKE MUSCUTT: He just crashed
out up here at Auburn, so-- [music playing] Where they at? Crossfire,
crossfire, crossfire. Crossfire, crossfire. [bleep] Get up. Did you dump anything
in that apartment we need to know about,
that any kids can get to? No. Now's the time to be a man. Tell me. Huh? A pipe? Sit down. So our violence suppression
unit tried to do a traffic stop on this vehicle, took him on
a pursuit from East Salinas up the highway up here
into North Salinas. And it looks like he tried
to make the turn here at too fast of a speed,
which he then impacted his black Honda Accord. That then sent that
vehicle into the Sebring. Significant collision. Looking at the car, both
as airbags deployed, and it looks like he wasn't
wearing his seat belt. The traffic stop was
for vehicle violations. He doesn't appear to have
any warrants for his arrest. He's not on probation. He was unlicensed,
so we're really not sure the reason
why he felt he needed to flee from officers. But right now he's
in custody for felony evading officers
with a motor vehicle, as well as operating a motor
vehicle without a license. [music playing] ISIDORO MEDRANO:
So in the last hour we had two robberies,
both of them at Little Caesars
with a similar MO. We had a guy go in there wearing
a bandanna, covering his face, simulating that he had a
firearm and asking for money. Officer Dunnegan
located a few suspects at the rear of the business
matching the description, so we're going to
go out with him. You're on parole
though, right? You're on parole? ISIDORO MEDRANO: What
are you on parole for? ISIDORO MEDRANO:
Hitting your chick? ISIDORO MEDRANO: What? ISIDORO MEDRANO:
So he's on parole. That gives us authority
to go and search the vehicle that he was in. SUSPECT 1: I didn't
think that this was going to go through like this, man. What happened? Put your hands
around your back. No, sir. Put your hands
behind your back. Why are you doing this? No. SUSPECT: How are you
going to-- hang on. Hey, relax. Hey, relax. Relax. Relax. Relax. What's going on? Dude, let's go. At least put him in our car. Let me just grab
my phone, bro. - Hey!
- Relax, relax. I need to call-- let
me get my phone, bro. Relax, relax. Please, dude. Separate your feet, dude. Dude, will you guys
just look, real quick? Take a seat. We'll come talk
to you right now. Take a seat. - Take a seat real quick.
- Take a seat, man. You guys are taking me
in for something that-- We're not even--
we're not taking you in. We're just detaining
you right now. Take a seat. They found a bunch of money
underneath the passenger seat, and a black hoodie,
which is what was used during the robbery. ISIDORO MEDRANO: A person that
called in from the business said they had a gray cloth bag
that they pulled out and had him shove the money inside. Officer Dunnegan located this
bag inside of the vehicle. What I found under there
was the black sweatshirt, the gray bag used in the
robbery, and all the cash. So explain to me how
all that got there? All of that evidence
got to where you were at in the vehicle. I'm just-- I'm just giving you the facts. If you want to tell me your
side of the story, that's fine. But all I'm doing is
giving you the facts. Dude, I'm-- [non-english], bro. And I'm not robbing no
[bleep] places, bro. Where did all that
money come from? So-- so people were
paying you in ones for weed? Mhm. ISIDORO MEDRANO: Did they
reason $1.00 bills to pay? Yes. ISIDORO MEDRANO:
Let's go back to why is everything that was used
in the robbery in your car? Dude, how are you guys going
to blame me for that [bleep]?? You don't believe me, huh? I don't. How did all that
money get in your car? How did all that money-- how did all the money and
the sweatshirt and the bag get in your car? Hey, bro, there's a lot of
people that wear sweaters. OK. Kick your feet back in. All right. ISIDORO MEDRANO: He didn't
admit to the robbery, but his story wasn't
really making sense. He's going to be
transferred to Monterey County Jail, where
he's going to be lodged for the two robberies. And he was on
parole, so there will be a parole hold placed on him. [music playing] ROBERT DURST: So
we're going to be en route to cover our officers. They're looking for a wanted
subject for criminal threats. He was just at mom's house. He has multiple--
multiple priors for kind of a similar thing. So we'll get out and see
if we can make contact. 1025, right? [knock on door] ROBERT DURST: Hi. Is he inside? ROBERT DURST: OK, can we come
in here just to make sure? ROBERT DURST: We just
want to make sure, you know what I mean? Perfect, thank you. We're just going to make
sure he's not inside, OK? Just go stand right over
here, both of you guys, OK? We're out with her. ROBERT DURST: OK. Just go that way. Nobody else should be here? OK. OFFICER 1: [speaking spanish] Look at this. Small. Small hallway. Salinas PD, put your hands up! I'm holding right here. ROBERT DURST: The
subject's not here. The sister says that
he might have left here and went to a liquor store
or to the bowling alley. We're going to continue
to check the area and see if we can get
this guy into custody. [music playing] So a few hours ago we
were looking for a guy who was wanted for making
some terroristic threats towards his family. One of our officers
up north just advised that he's
out with one matching the description
of the individual that we're looking for. So we're going to head up
there and take a look at him and assist him. If it's him, take
him into custody. 336. You want to place your
hands behind your back, man? - Me?
- Yep. Oh, I'm under arrest? Yep. For what? Don't struggle, dude. I don't struggle.
I don't care. Just put your hands
behind your back. I don't struggle.
I'm not struggling. Just drop your wallet.
Drop it. Drop it. All right. What'd I do wrong? Terroristic threats
and petty theft, man. [bleep] OK, well, I'm just going
off what I was told, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. There are some people making
false reports about me. Who are these people? Basically, they happen
to be like Gonzalez's, I guess you could say. MIKE MUSCUTT: Where do
the Gonzalez's live? They live all over California. And basically, they're a-- they're an illegal
crime boss family, and they want to send me to jail
to throw the heat off on me. And then they want the
Gonzalez's to run free. See? OK. Because I'm a
well-to-do businessman. If you think you can
get away with this, it's pretty much impossible. So have-- have your fun now
while you can, and, um-- that's all I can say about that. Take a seat. [music playing] MIKE MUSCUTT: We have no
intel of a Gonzalez Cartel or gang in the city of Salinas. So he's being transported to
Monterey County Jail, where he'll be lodged on the
charge of terroristic threats and grand theft, and he'll have
to go to court and answer it. [music playing] EDUARDO BEJARANO: So
the subject right here, when we turned a corner
he saw us and walked away. We're going to turn
around here and blackout, which is turn off our
lights, and see what he does. And of course he decides
to urinate in public. So we're going to
go contact him. Center Frank six, Albert one. Take a seat, dude. Sit down away from that step. Over here. Right there, dude. What are you doing? What were you doing right
there in the corner? EDUARDO BEJARANO: Nothing much? EDUARDO BEJARANO:
What were you doing? EDUARDO BEJARANO: No? You didn't just pee right there? EDUARDO BEJARANO: No? So you just had your pants
down, but you didn't pee? EDUARDO BEJARANO: No? Are you on probation or parole? EDUARDO BEJARANO:
You're on parole? EDUARDO BEJARANO: Yeah? You can put your
hands down, dude. You don't got to keep them up. How much have you
had to drink today? EDUARDO BEJARANO: Just a shot? No, dude, you had a little
more than just a shot. EDUARDO BEJARANO: No? I just got to make sure you
actually did pee right here. You're getting a ticket for
urinating in public, all right? That's an infraction. You'll get something in the mail
within a couple of weeks giving you your options, all right? There's a court date down here. Signing is not an
admission of guilt. It's just a received
copy of citation and promising to
appear in court. EDUARDO BEJARANO:
Dude, right there. We can argue about it
or we can walk over to where the wet spots are
where I saw you peeing, where I could see your
thigh with your shorts down. You can sign it,
or I could actually call your parole officer,
and then he'll violate you for not wanting to sign it. Just because you sign
doesn't mean you're guilty. You're just saying you're
going to go to court. Cause we're not going to
be here all night, dude. All right, now it's all on you. OK, man. I'll tell you what, we're done. Just put your hands
behind your back. OK, that's what you
want to do, right? All right, man. He's refusing to
sign a citation, and I'm wondering if his parole
officer will place a hold. So due to him refusing to sign,
I contacted his parole officer, and his parole officer
authorized a parole violation. So now instead of going
home with a ticket, he's going to county jail
for urinating in public and for his parole violation. [music playing] TYLER PROVOST: So this guy just
rolled through the stop sign. He was kind of hanging
out in the area and when I drove
through he took off. It's like he didn't
want to be contacted. So we're going to figure out why
he rolled through the stop sign and go from there. Hi. I'm Officer
Provost, Salinas PD. Do you have your license, your
registration, your insurance? All right. You ever been arrested? No? You've been given a ticket? Yeah? For what? For something, you don't know. Do you have anything
illegal on you? Anything illegal
inside the vehicle? OK. Is it all right if
I check real quick? OK. Go ahead and take
your seat belt off. Yes, take it off. He's what? And put it in his pants. Give me your hands. I got nothing. Yeah? What did you just stuff in your
pocket from the center console? Yeah, he grabbed
all of that stuff out of the center console. OK, so we got a meth pipe. That's off, dude. You didn't know you-- you didn't know you had it?
- You didn't know you had it? You got it out of
the center console? You put it in your pants
right in front of me. I'm really sorry, sir. OK, well, I
accept your apology, but you still got to deal
with the consequences. OFFICER 2: Too
little, too late, man. OK. OFFICER 2: Yep. Crystal meth. TYLER PROVOST: All right. So we've got the
meth, which is wrapped in the toilet paper and bag
that he stored in his pants. OK, so check it out. SUSPECT 2: Yeah? We're going to tow the car. - Yeah.
- OK? Because your license is expired. We can't have you driving
on the streets of Salinas with an expired license. Yep. And we're going to cite you
out for a couple violations, if you're OK with that,
instead of taking you to jail. Is that fair? Yeah. OK, step out of the car. You're basically going to get
two tickets you have to sign. An expired license,
running a stop sign, possession of methamphetamine,
possession of paraphernalia. Yeah. OK? Grab your backpack and
you are free to walk home. OK. No, that's mine. OFFICER 2: Are you
serious right now? You want that back? No, I was like
thinking, well, why is-- I think you smoked
too much of that and it's cooked your
brain cells, man. No, no, no, I'm-- Grab your backpack
and get out of here. TYLER PROVOST: As
long as it's only possession for
personal consumption, it's a misdemeanor. Like, he didn't have any
probation or anything like that, no warrants,
so we cited him out for all of the vehicle
code and drug violations that he just committed. [music playing] ISIDORO MEDRANO: So one
of our training units just did a traffic stop
here around the corner. He's on a motorcycle. We're going to sweep
out over there, assist him and find
out what they got. What is this? It's a Harley? Yeah, Harley. Custom. Yep. I got promoted at work so
I had to buy me a new toy. Where do you work? I'm a landfill operator,
heavy equipment operator. I drive bulldozers,
scrapers, excavators. Big money. Yeah. We're doing real good. That's good, man. Good to hear. Happy wife, happy life. Sir, are you on
probation or parole? Nope.
I'm straight. I'm a Cowboy fan, baby. Woo! How about them Cowboys? All right, just go
ahead and wait here. We'll be right back. We did a traffic
stop for the music when he drove by us earlier. He's got airbags in his bike. He's in a good mood. You want to record that? It's actually pretty cool. Woo-hoo! How many bikes can do that, huh? ISIDORO MEDRANO: It is. So just be careful driving, man. It's Salinas, you
know what I mean? Take it easy, yeah. I'm enjoying the sunshine,
man, the Cali sunshine. I'm not even five foot
tall, check it out. You're never going to see a
guy smaller than me driving a bad ass bike like this. You'll never see it. Cause look, I can
bring it-- look at me, I'm on my tippy toes
already as it is. And look, put it
on the ground, bam. Put the front down
and I'm ready to go. ISIDORO MEDRANO: All right. Huh? So as long as I
keep the music down I guess I'll be all right and--
- You'll be good, man. You'll be good. And avoid-- avoid the
good fellas in blue. - There you go, buddy.
- All right, guys. - All right, have a good night.
- Have a good one. All right, drive safe. All right, I will. ISIDORO MEDRANO:
He ended up getting a ticket for a CBC violation,
but he's in a good mood. He says he's happy
the Cowboys won. It's always good to see a good
ending to a contact like that.
