be a police officer and after I retired I had a good second career to go into I really like what I'm doing it's been four years and I still still like coming to work and it's cliche but I like to protect and serve five four we've got a vehicle that we ran through the mobile data terminal and the registered owner doesn't have a valid driver's license hi my name's officer Dolman at the Des Moines police do you have a driver's license okay you the registered owner of the vehicle okay because I live right third and 31st I didn't work because I saw you in the middle of the street yeah I anything like that okay go ahead and step right into the back of the car for me well you have no driver's license of course you take those things out of your ears for me so you can't be driving on city streets you have no I understand I've got a right to a few tickets okay so I need you to sit on the curb for me hey Natalie give me a favor I pulled over Marlin here his driving friends cars friend and the registration has no driver's license he has no driver's license either and they have no insurance for it just want to keep an eye on in this better appreciate it running Marlins shoe so and then after that when we got him right back there to the car as we were checking again he took off again so I mean I don't I'm assuming this is why he ran it out why did you decide to run and after you earn cuffs where were you gonna go when you started running away far inside good last my last minute of freedom all right good all righty well we're going to obviously arrest them for possession finish up the traffic stuff impound the car and then take them off to jail I teach at a local university where they have a law Enforcement Academy this is a young man young woman's profession and there comes a point where my knees will not handle this and somebody else probably needs to come out here so I just want to try and pass some things on that I've learned [Music] it's a blue four-door gonna be eastbound on Chestnut Expressway from west bypass there's blue red light about four or five occupants in the car they're approaching scenic and chestnut looks like they're gonna stop here at college and scenic hey driver step out come on back here to me change me on your back it stops on back here and then he kind of took off from me you know hurry I take off of me I'm sorry I didn't you see ya didn't bring in such a hurry I did run the stop sign that and that was because I honestly was speeding yeah you were flying I was speeding and I didn't have time to stop I woulda squealed I would have just feel right through anyways okay we're just cruising having a good time and I just decided to speed a little bit that was my fault my bad would you do the marijuana that's all over your shirt um honestly smoked earlier I will not lie okay did you throw it in the car here somewhere there's honestly blood laying all over the car but I've had that in there for weeks okay I just did not bother to vacuum it out or get it off your shirt okay hey why don't everybody just get out cuz there's weed all over the place here and I'd really rather just charge one person few hours ago Oh while you're driving you were rolling and smoking my friends were yeah they were rolling up in yeah and the leftover that we did not the leftover we that was not putting in me blunt mmm friends just decided to be dumb and dumped on my head and then I scraped it off a felon on my shirt why are you driving that fast you didn't did you even want to stop up there um I actually had my foot on the brake my my friend sis saw me actually witnessed me starting to slow down and I'm like I I can't stop I'm gonna skid right through it okay so I just went off the brake and idle through that that way I would make sure I was not hitting yeah you adil through all right how fast were you going there probably that's it are you trying to elude me no I honestly did not see behind me because my music was so up so loud that I did not hear the sirens okay okay and I kept going because I was trying to get past the car because if I was I needed to be in the right lane anyways right so if I was uh if I was to slow down and try to cross into lane I was in a smash right into one and so I kept on speeding up to get past them Oh rather than maybe using a break yeah okay that's cool yeah it makes sense okay all right that makes sense so yeah right now you're under arrest for driving under the influence all right all right right now you're just gonna go for felony possession and then misdemeanor possession of the marijuana how long you been smoking where'd you get into that 16 all right do you make any money someone you don't sell you just give to your friends if they need it okay we say you help your friends I mean explain that to me just kind of middleman then okay huh all right well that's much better than just being the guy sells do you think you don't know I can tell you it's not okay you're 18 years old earn your way to jail is it scary at all mm-hmm okay every year I go to the school my kids attend and do their career day and as much as the kids love by a patrol car and all the equipment that I bring it's uh it's kind of funny but I can't seem to hold the candle to the stuff that the farmers bring and kids love the tractor all the stuff that they give out we've been dispatched to a robbery of a person from a cell phone store apparently someone was the employee was coming out with a bank bag unknown suspect first her from behind and with a knife and and took the money so we're gonna see if we can get a better description I don't lie of course that was involved [Music] okay okay okay where you were standing up here you want to walk over and show me so you didn't see any clothing or anything like that did you see anything on this arm like a description or anything okay and where you were were you you were pretty close right okay okay and where did you did so you didn't see him come up behind you at all okay was he white black Hispanic look like skin okay the victim saw him running out towards KFC on the sidewalk light-skinned possibly Hispanic or you know white male with a tan that's all we've got right now he cried where's the money at the top of my personal bag in the night the positive what kind of bag was it in like a clear plastic bank deposit bag you write the totals and stuff on the outside a 39 okay canines gonna track we also have a detective here that's gonna be working on the case we'll talk to him from our Investigative Division he just showed up so we'll we'll get with them court you want to update it with like a black shirt he might have like a dark colored shirt on we're the bank bags at can you show me one of those okay and then I put the money in here and I see it it you seal everything and then it's where you write all your name store information and everything then do you have to log like the the number on here like this number I hand I write it and I put it on my bank book okay I'm gonna go talk to the deputies out front hey what's going on [Music] okay he went ahead he searched the car got you pounding on that closet bag money really he found the money in the car found the money in the car via the passenger seat what's your visit to me I've done this a long time the money's in your car yes yes ma'am now do you see how many deputies are here mm-hmm I'm gonna give you this one opportunity tell me actually what happened if you lied to me there's a possibility you're gonna go to jail tonight you understand me so you need to tell me exactly what happened first of all there wasn't a robbery correct correct I was at Essen effect listen to me you know and I know that you're lying to me you have got a bunch of deputies a k-9 dog a helicopter was on its way to here it took me actually ten seconds to prove that you were lying to me now I need to hear it out of your mouth that you're lying to me otherwise okay I'm gonna tell you something what happened I got threatened and I was told that I had to give him the job they was gonna take me in my family and he was very scared so I had to do something because I have kids at home sir I have another baby I have a four-year-old daughter your daughter how much money is in that bag look to make you willing to lie to me about a robbery and they have me chasing some Hispanic male that doesn't exist I want you to understand something you think this is the first time someone's told me a story that someone's present we're gonna pull the camera there's cameras right over there aimed right at your car and I know when I look at that you're lying to me aren't you there was no scuffle out front it was there you know why they just don't draw people right out in the middle next to a busy intersection across a baseball park with a bunch of people you are lying to me and you're starting to make me upset because you know what I want to believe you Joshua but I want the truth there was nobody out there next that car there's nobody out there there was nobody is there any frighten me a few times okay what do you do is someone threatened you what was scary thank you the same thing you do when you claim someone robbed you you call them all Rhys I'm gonna call the police I was scared the guy told me whether on the passenger side this is where she said she placed the bag before she was attacked according to her story there's a compartment underneath the seat in that closed compartment underneath some items we found the deposit bag with money that was missing that that she was talking about she's gonna be charged with grand theft and filing a false police report Thursday gather the family for a special Thanksgiving presentation of ice age on merit Christmas
