Lifetime Tamarack Pro 103 - Is it better than the original?

hey welcome back to another video this is the tamarack pro from lifetime um i was able to get one from walmart recently so i decided to take it out and film a little bit of it and then i'll take it out on the water in a little bit and do a review so far looking at it straight from the store it comes with this seat and it comes with a rod holder and it came with a lifetime black paddle it's a little short but should work out good for the kids the one thing i noticed right off the bat is under this seat they have what looks like a tackle tray holder now this is a 3600 size tackle tray from flambeau so it does fit under there holds in pretty well the only issues i'm gonna see with this is actually getting the tackle tray out so put that in there seat doesn't even want to latch because it's so tight and if you were to clip it in there's no way you're pulling that out so whoever thought that was going to be an idea that was an epic failure might have worked better if this piece here wasn't raised up and it was flatter you could get it out but yeah that's not gonna work so i manipulated the front seat cover a little bit and looking at it if you did this way yeah you could pull it in and out it's pretty easy and to do that instead of having this webbing up and over the front bar you just tuck it under here and sit on it like that maybe that's an option maybe not personally i'm not a fan of it but for the overall the boat makes a pretty nice kayak and i picked this up at walmart for what was it 3 49 before taxes here is an underside view of the hole not too bad very similar to the other tamarax and even pretty similar to the lifetime teton from dicks okay now we've got the lifetime tamarack pro it's made in voyage out in a local lake um not very warm but we're gonna give it a go and since everybody's got the day off today sounds like it's pretty noisy everywhere i go so i'm sorry about the noise but i'm gonna try it out with no gear just me my paddle and the kayak i'm about 5 11 260 pounds it's rated for 300 pounds so let's see how well it does uh getting in wasn't too bad foot pedals feel good these adjustable foot pegs actually feel a lot better than the molded in ones you typically see at this price point paddle's pretty straight but no scupper plugs i don't have any water coming up which is nice [Music] the panel is not the best i said fairly short should work out pretty good for like a teenager or a kid doesn't quite reach the water like i'd like it to i'll probably just use one of my other paddles but you can't complain too much for getting a paddle for free [Music] my other kayak did not come with a free paddle that's the lifetime teton from dick's sporting goods personally for the tracks they alternate every other side for the screw holes and it's plastic kind of a cheap way to go about it i'll probably be upgrading that as far as maneuverability maneuvers well turns pretty quick i'd say it's a pretty good fishing kayak [Music] [Music] [Music] yeah didn't even get wet in the back so the other thing that i have on here i actually made myself is a small seat riser i made this for the teton and it's this tamarac pro it's a 10-minute pro pretty well so that's just about an inch and three quarters wide a bit of a 2x4 and then i painted it made some notches for these brackets and that all lines up pretty good with this chair too pretty sure you use the same chair but yeah not a bad little kayak let me know down in the comments below if you think this is something that you're going to want to pick up and if they actually made some improvements to the tamarack design i think they did
