hello everybody today we're shooting informational video on a louis winch it's one of my blood here a year and a half ago and going to do a demonstration also on how i use it on my trailer made an adapter for it a couple things on lewis winch i wanted to show you got a hook down here a loop that that's your anchor point for whatever you're going to pull and I've got a handbrake over here that handbrake don't look like it's real substantial but I can actually hold the vehicle real well with it on the trailer ramps and I can show you that later on but what I've got on there is a steel MF 660 and that's a about a seven horse saw that's about the biggest saw that they recommend for this winch I've used it quite a bit works beautiful for me only thing that I would recommend is they see foot cable along with it and what happens if you don't need that much cable a lot of times it'll start biting up on you can't get it wound up real even as you're pulling the load sometimes when you get a lot of pressure on it what I'm going to do eventually is take off 25 or 30 foot of that cable and that should prevent that from happening but I've had it rub up here a little bit and a little bit down here where it gets kind of side loaded and it gets bound up it's hard to release so just some advice the other thing is the driving mechanism on it right here it is we've got a roll pin at spring-loaded and what happens it's got a helix there and it goes on an angle and it's got a little notch it locks it into the pulley that's what drives your your drama rolls winch and to release it push it down bring it back like that and that releases it so you pull your cable out one thing that I have that is when you have a good-sized load on it and you want to release this it's very hard to this is going to be pressure on well usually uses a dead blow hammer to knock the latch there but that helps bring it up and out to something think about when you got a heavy load on you're trying to loosen it up or let loose but the other thing I show is the mount I made a mod on my trailer and this mount basically bolts up the crossmember and it bolts up here at the tongue of the trailer and I built that basically it's like pull vehicles on or whatever else I want to pull on the trailer just recently did a couple modifications to it to make it better but I'll slip that on there and show you how that works okay we what I did is I took a piece of bushing stock your thick wall bushing stock and that's what my mount is and that goes all the way through this tube this tube down here is a quarter inch thick two by two tubing but this dowel goes it's bushing stack goes all the way through and it's welded on the backside as well so it's a good solid mount and most of the pressure most of the torque is going to be applied to this two inch tube going up through the frame the other thing is I drilled a hole free or keeper for that one it's running so that the vibration doesn't let fall off so we'll go ahead and up this on there you can see how it goes sits on there just like so and you can swing it a little bit side to side to kind of adjust to your lead and get it even on the drum - don't fall off you can let it sit there and run and it's gonna stay put okay the Louis winch requires a gear lube in the gear case and what I recommend is the AMSOIL severe gear 75 W 90 at Raths thermal runaway and this is also something for you guys out there with the trucks pickups and so on it's an oil that resists thermal runaway and I'll have some further information on this at the end of the video if you're interested and another thing that they use and the chainsaw to cycle oil this has been out for 40 years it's 100 to 1 and it replaces all other premixes and I've got an article about that as well at the end of the video but if you've got a Vaughn boy calls for thirty to one or steel chainsaw it calls for fifty to one this covers all of the premixes number one and that article talks about the tests have been done on it's been tested out to three hundred to one and it passes with flying colors all the we're testing 301 we've also got a version for the outboard motors because they run a little bit cooler that's 101 outboard saber outboard for the outboard motors and again these products been out for about forty years I've tested they're proven and they make the engines run so much better so just a couple items there it'll help you with your equipment and extend the life of them cut the we're back okay on the handbrake on this winch some people use a bungee strap tied back to the rear here and keep pressure on a little time what I've done is I took the bolt out here and put some Loctite on it also on the set screw for the bowl I've got it to the point where wherever you move it it stays so I don't use the bungee cord some people do you can do however you wish with that but when I do to pull that cable out is to release make sure this is released over here your drive dowel for the sprocket so that's backed out all the way and then you let up the tension on that brake pull out yeah it's good to keep a little bit of tension on it so that don't freewheel on you and make a bird's nest on you now before you go ahead and start chainsaw make sure it's you engage your pin here that drives the winch drum and that can also be done after you start the saw to get started spinning you can rotate this in as you go and it will go in and the other thing is make sure you got your brake back or needs to be and go ahead and pull this baby on the trailer prick holes are along putting up a whole bar with that way then to release it kick it in like so and now will release the kind of release the cable now I've got it held by the drum but still I can go backward little bit break is pretty substantial on that a whole lot of weight and that kind of gives you an overview of the Luis winch and at least in this job the other place I use this for pulling logs on a trailer if I got firewood that I'm making I can pull on the heavy pieces that I've bucked up if you got a say a 42 inch stump or something like that or 42 inch tree that you're cutting up or the bigger ones like that the piece is weighing you know six to eight hundred pounds you can hook them on a chain and pull them up on the trailer it works real well a lot other uses for it too but this is mainly what I use it for us for pulling vehicles on the trailer and and other things that I want to pull in this trailer so thank you for watching my video and have a great day you thank you for watching my YouTube video please check out my other videos on my YouTube page and I want to introduce you to Amazon's full line of synthetic lubricants we have the most complete line of synthetics for your automotive van light truck needs as well as heavy equipment and semis full line of synthetics been around since 1972 and check those out at wwl comm also we have a page for looking out fluid capacities and that one is fluid capacity comm and you can go in there and you can get all your fluid capacity of your vehicle you can print off a list so that you've got all fast ease your cooling system you transmission your engine all those and have a great day
