I mean just watch watch my podcast with Anna kremling how she gets sexually harassed the chess tournaments when she's like 14 15 years old I mean it starts even younger than that I mean I'm telling you guys like talk to women some people have had it you know have had a good they haven't been ogled from a disgustingly young age but plenty have and it it's a serious issue why would anybody want to stick around a world and be addicted to it um and you know we see in instances like the Polgar sisters where they had an incubated chest training right and even they dealt with just awful sexism their whole lives but they got through it and they they are an example of what happens when you obsess over chess and you work really hard at it you will you know that's but there's very few like them like there's very few and I think that and like you even see hoi fun hoi fun went to Cambridge Oxford I don't even know she's some scholar she's a Rhodes Scholar there's like better opportunities than you know than playing chess out there so yeah anyway I'm I listen I'm I I believe that all things being equal uh it would be very close in terms of men and women succeeding at chess but it's not all things being equal because men don't ever need to deal with getting harassed at in tournaments uh or told creepy things or you know and not to mention the fact that uh sure you can argue that like there's certain differences in how men and women approach pattern recognition and whatnot but the truth is that an exponentially larger number of men play the game so naturally they will have more success and uh I think women just simply have more barriers I actually I I don't necessarily think we we will never get a situation where we can truly see to a statistical significant level if all things being equal men and women would be equally successful at chess because it will never get there like it will never even start at a young age it will never be close enough at a young age that there would be something to analyze in terms of participation so you know this is coming this is like an expert take considering I've literally been around all these classrooms and I know um one sec hello yeah uh can you just leave it at the door please yes yes yes thank you oh anyway um that's my take if you don't agree with me I honestly couldn't give to you probably have not taught kids and you have probably not taught kids chess so L plus ratio and yeah uh yeah you should get your three-year-old girl involved in chess but be prepared for her to absolutely hate it and also personally like if I first of all it is the prospect of having a daughter in this world is terrifying uh but should Lucy and I reproduce and have a daughter um she's like I don't know how she's going to be as a kid but you know you gotta learn to deal with boys and with girls and unfortunately as a girl you got to learn to deal with some nasty potentially from a young age so you got to make sure that if if you got a girl and she's learning chess you do it in a conducive way if she likes an all-girls classroom uh that's what you should hope to get her into because otherwise it's not going to be good for you know because you can have boys constantly making snide comments and oh you lost to a girl like that is alive and well bro doesn't matter like where your kid goes to school it's still like oh you lost to a girl like you're trash like you're not gonna you know that's never gonna go this I would like to say it's gonna go away it's not gonna go away like I'm not naive you know what I mean I feel like at any moment in this game I might hang all my pieces but that's also like every game I play so okay Eric just harassing me for no reason at all I really don't want to time scramble can we just
