[Music] [Music] [Music] good evening good afternoon good morning i'm the patient wolf and this is assassin's creed three remastered oh that's my controller how is everyone doing hello shipwreck hello the seer hello dave grammer great to see you yes i am playing it i'm hoping for lots of fun [Music] so we'll we'll start in a minute or two how's everyone doing today whether it be morning afternoon or evening what have you been up to how's it going and also tell me if my voice is okay and if the levels are all right that'd be helpful [Music] [Music] [Music] okay here we go then so this is the third installment this is a new protagonist i'm not even sure of his name i'm that clueless on this full disclosure i did start this game and played a sequence or two a while back my system tells me but i can't remember a thing about it i do know a few things about this game though um [Music] an element of the ending has been spoiled for me just by nature of studying um the law as it's as it's up to now after the ezio trilogy and um there is a slight twist in the front sort of 20 of this game and i i'm aware of that as well but other than that it's a it's a part of history that i'm not overly familiar about i am currently reading a george washington biography to get a taste of it but i'm looking forward to diving into it finding the the next evolution um of the assassin's creed franchise i mean how old is this now is this 10 11 years old so um i have watched a couple of the trailers um that released at the time just to get a sense of what the mechanics they were were proud of and i think the kill animations and the movement animations are something they really we were kind of selling as well as there was a few wildlife um encounters so i think that might be a bit of hunting and traversal looks like um like a thing and also i think the anvil system anvil um architecture that they coded the game in i believe that allows for for more characters on screen more things on screen and won't grind it to hold so i am looking forward to diving in and discovering it's been a long time if i wasn't making these uh story videos i would have played all these a long time ago just bounced them over them but i wanted to take it slow and do it piece by piece so buckle up put your headphones on zone out tune in and let's discover together the world of assassins creed three okay so let's just go in there unlock additional rewards with ubisoft club come together with that um extra content i believe there is a dlc to be had and we will at some point have a look at the levels and settings and options to maybe drop this music a little bit [Music] but let us let us go inspired by historical events and characters the work of fiction was designed developed and produced by a multicultural team of various religious faiths and beliefs [Music] okay we do have some options here okay so that is the dlc i thought you could well i didn't know what i thought but usually the dlc is within the game so it looks like you played that separately i wonder if you carry over your options but let's just tweak the animus um let's just do the music just drop that down to eight and the effects one so the voice stays nice and clear but the music does not brightness maybe just chuck it at one i believe blood on yes please um let's have the speaker's name so we can stay up to date with who's who and let us go welcome gk welcome televiano zyad melvin hazim has m starting your game let's do that used to be when people talked about the end of the world we locked them up steadily sometimes both but we never took them seriously maybe we should have but i'm getting ahead of myself better to start at the beginning with the abduction of desmond miles my son this boy had no ambition no direction no plans for the future what he did have was a heritage one he chose to deny it nearly cost him his life he was captured and imprisoned those who took him believed he could help them find something the apple one of several artifacts we call pieces of eden bits of ancient technology scattered across the globe some hidden some found all of them dangerous most are held by a single group the same group that now had desmond you know them as abstergo industries we know them as the templars as the enemy we've been fighting them for thousands of years even longer if you believe the stories of their origins i do after all i've seen the truth that's the beauty and the horror of the animus a device that allows us to enter and experience the lies of our ancestors it holds the power to change everything to show us history the way it really happened up until its creation to the victor went to spoils we're trying to fix that to free minds and bodies both but there's only so much that we can do and the templars have the upper hand these days but something larger than the assassins and templars is approaching bigger than all of us and if we can't find a way to stop it these next few weeks will probably be our last everyone's last in the end it all comes down to him to desmond through the animus he discovered his heritage explored the lives of his ancestors and uncovered their secrets when that was done he trained he used another ancestor to provide decades of experience in the span of a few days it worked we think we hope soon though soon we'll know that ominous date fast approaches december 21st 2012 none of us knows what it'll bring only that this is where they want us to be when it does they've been guiding us in their own fractured frustrating way these voices from the first civilization the ones who came before a precursor race of immense power and uncertain motives they're the ones who made the pieces of eden this is where they've led him and through him us he stands at the entrance to this long-lost place armed with the knowledge of altair and the abilities of ezio he holds in his hands the apple of eden and we stand at his side ready to support him however we can his name is desmond miles and he has brought us to the end they go so in the last end of the last game they reached the location of the grand temple but it seems it shows them arriving again or maybe they were getting supplies we're here his face changes every game let's go as to sean hastings sean looks very different okay look let's um always look behind you when you start can we go up here we can't quite look in the van it's not letting us see if we can go around this way no okay so this is the grand the entrance to the grand temple that stood the test of millennia to stay here yeah certainly a step up isn't it i know it's remastered but it is a step up from you know from from the trilogy but looking they've also stepped up their production value on their introduction there that was that was quite something recapping where we where we're at but it just reminds me how amazing this story and what precious thing it is that ubisoft have come across it's this this saga that crosses time and it's a battle between two forces it's a present day battle between those same two forces and it's also this overarching cataclysm that's on its way and at the moment this man here is the most important because he has been given the role of trying to prevent it by uh by the ones that came before all right folks shall we an impenetrable door maybe so this is the apple that was plucked from underneath the colosseum by ezio and brotherhood in another moment down when alice after it never once considering how in the world she was to get out again [Music] down the rabbit hole we go so sean oh okay we've snapped a fluorescent light okay this kind of very smooth kind of rock face it's obviously a feature that continues throughout the series i have played the the later games so that isn't blind to me so obviously this feature is carried on through but it seems to have taken some damage here it's maybe collapsed over time sean rebecca and daddy hello teddy we haven't seen much of each other if any since we were 16 years old only 16 years old i think we're here there we go so the apple opens everything [Applause] come on folks where are you are you coming down later i think they're sending us a head but yeah you've got the kind of gliffy mathematical looking writing on the wall okay similar controls in that you hold right to action things and then hold down x to uh to sprint but here we come into the main hall what's that some kind of old world key basically powers the whole facility oh wow just that gate oh the leading effects hitting in you must find the key okay so chino's back james holden here we go again so is he entering he's entering without an animus yeah what happened the temple triggered a bleeding effect you collapsed and entered into a fugue state so naturally you dropped me into the animus instead of i don't know making sure i was okay you weren't in any danger besides the temple appeared to be communicating with you and i didn't want to risk severing the connection at least not until we knew what it wanted right of course son i no it's fine i get it and i know what i'm looking for by the way it's a key just no idea where it is though i guess that's why she triggered the bleeding effect she juno dad she's talking to me okay desmond while you were uh visiting constantinople we picked up a software update for the animus i'd like to run a couple of quick tests make sure there aren't any major issues all right what do you need me to do we'll start simple walk to the marker over there okay just going through a tutorial finding out what's changed what's what's remaining the same hold to run yes so we can get up there without holding the x button okay desmond let's practice climbing on these objects okay climb to the marker i'm just jumping down that's it i'm not i don't need to press x oh it's a lot smoother it's a lot smoother the animation feels a lot more less weighty yes a lot quicker that's nice that's very nice i'm just moving moving and pointing that's all i'm doing holding down r2 mind that's a constraint fly instructions and kill the two templars okay i'm trying to press yeah it's not automatically highlighting when i press l2 so it must just be contextual to where you are all you have to do here is jump the gap i see it's quite weird not having to um press well i've got to press x now but it's quite weird not having to do that to jump what if that'll cause me problems it's a lot more sensitive to which way we're going that's good and the animations seem a lot smoother i think they've just pulled a decent number on it that's nice the first sort of um modern era house we've had to climb it's always been sort of very renaissance or or flat roofs in uh and domed roofs now this just looks modern era i won't get down so there we go synchronization levels look good now we should be able to build the world time to find out what the temple wants from you wow view progress we're we're a man which man i'm not sure so this is our ancestor synchronizing that performing air assassination which we've done assassinate the target at the royal opera house reach the memory for more information so we are about to enter the animus for real outside of this training program is that correct i'm going slow sir sir everything all right sir yes fine hatham i'm just preoccupied that's all don't forget your invitation master birch will be meeting you inside thank you where shall i retrieve you once you're done front of the opera house and be quick about it don't expect to be here long i'll bring around at once thank you james so we're a british guy i'm not going to pretend to not know that i think i know who this guy is um and analyzing his sort of cloak here at the top you see it across and what looks to be like um like a face in the middle with a with a triangle i can't get too good to look there but yeah i'm not gonna pretend i don't know who it is because i do in terms of um the outcome but i'm not gonna mention it again until until it happens and i know for sure hi ricardo yes it is a nice outfit here's a pretty outfit that has as well it's very sort of highway man john holden okay we'll get to learn about these guys i'm sure sequence one a deadly performance so we're exiting the training program thanks rebecca for filling us in on this she's told us there's a few updates to the animus which is kind i mean she had to she was probably twiddling her thumbs while we were recovering in the uh in the the old test program with uh with old clay um and she just tinkered away so let's see the fruits of the labour off we go invitation please covent garden 1754 theater okay it did say we've got to go and do a kill new email receive leave animus to read it we're not going to do that we just arrived okay opera house obviously there's a performance hello how you doing i'm trying to interact with these folk but not happening there's a lot of people in here this wouldn't happen in the other game a lot of people look outside it's all going crazy because this is the start of our memory we can't access out there who's this gentleman here i can't quite hear what's going on i need to just turn up my uh my volume here hold on okay opera goers in their finery [Music] well hello good evening to you please thank you very much lovely day for us isn't it i do do so love the opera hello hello excuse me sorry i apologize [Music] so hazm says definitely suggest not leaving unanimous until the story does first okay i'm gonna do is i'm told there [Music] evening hatham rodriguez i can't tell you how happy i was to hear they'd mounted this revival gay's best work by far have you seen it before once my father brought me here as a child though i remember little of it i don't suppose tonight will afford me the luxury of a proper viewing either no i'm afraid it won't on to business then do you see him [Music] right l three to trickle e trigger eagle vision he's in the royal box he's seated in one of the boxes above the stairs are watched you'll need to find another way out again i already have it's very bond isn't he i already have reginald okay we're going to read about reginald birch reginald birch was a london merchant the son of another legendary merchant who conveniently enough also had the last name bert oh god ah we've got hastings as we we were we were treated to subject 16's less bad badly humored take on these databases now we've got bloody your man back again sean another emergency who conveniently enough also had the last name birch it seemed it was one of those hard to put your finger on things that ran in the family you're a prick sean you're an absolute prick burch started in business for himself at an early age by the time he was in his mid-20s he already owned several merchant ships mainly dealing with a tea trade to the american colonies that's pretty good going seeing us by the time i wish i could redact all the pointless sean stuff by the time most people in the mid-20s they don't even own a shirt i have him as a part owner of the providence among others later in life burch also owned several businesses in and around london he was a member of whites which was a posh gentleman's club in london and generally a well-known and respected man about town from what i can tell burch met haytham kenway haytham kenway while working for his father edward so his dad is edward kinway they were introduced at whites while haytham was still quite young birch would eventually take over hatham's education education tutoring him while on a tour of europe in the 1730s that was 20 years prior and for what we've seen in the animus it seems their friendship continued into adulthood with them working together as members of the assassins okay okay sean sean hastings is one of the few members of the assassins who wasn't raised to join the order he was recruited as a teenager after his investigations into abstergo industries made him a target for the templars zayad loves shawn's input well that makes one of us hasting has a gift for organization and as such the assassins would be lost without him with his talent for making he wrote this with talent for making connections between historical events he's widely regarded as the most intelligent person in the order and by widely regarded it's the most talented by mean he is the most you may think he's an arrogant bastard but that's only because he's smarter than you and like a less than able teenage girl you find yourself not yet secure enough to move past your hair powerful feelings of joy that's quite funny of joyless jealousy and simply appreciate me for who i am oh good you're actually reading these i was getting just wonderful if i was wasting my time because you know how much i love wasting my time now make some tea would you okay well we of course know about altair he he died to save committed suicide only shortly thereafter the assassin he died to save committed suicide in front of the 11 year old altair that was uh abbas's father with his parents gone altair looked to al-mualim and then mentor of the order as a father figure al-mulim recognized his potential and took on his training personally i'll tell you i reached rank of master assassin by the age of 25 and unheard of accomplishment if there was an assassin book of records there'd probably be a picture of this fellow on the front well he wrote his own book of records in in the codex altair was one of the best fighters in assassin's history with an arrogance to match uh i think well he was arrogant until um at the end of assassin's creed one and then he he changed to one of um one of humility and learning after his asthma's mission in 1191 in which he broke the creed and very nearly let an apple of eden fall into the temple of hands altair was sent back to the novice rank as part of his rebellion he was responsible for taking out the major players in the templar order at the time including the grand master robert de saba tragically in the end he was also forced to kill al-mulin one of the things that altair such a deadly assassin was something we now call eagle vision a kind of sixth and sixth sense inherited from the first civilization it allowed him to read his enemies and surroundings in a way that goes beyond what the human eye can see of course you'll know more about that than me okay well we know about ezio of course he was a playboy in his teenage years he fled with his mother and sister onto monterey gionee and teamed up with mario and he did assassinate for a decade and he cornered rodrigo but let him go um traveled back to 1499 to confront rodrigo who then became the pope over the next 20 years worked at strengthening the attack italian assassin brotherhood and fighting the templars one of the greatest accomplishments would be discovering a hidden library he was terrific at jumping too he died in florence in 1524 on a bench while he watched his wife and daughter shop in the market okay [Music] so that's the individuals locations we've got the theater royal you might hear this referred to as covent garden which it faces or the royal opera house which it later became however this is the original theater royal building opened in 1732 destroyed by fire in 1808 it will be rebuilt and destroyed by fire again in 57 and then completely renovated in the 90s they've installed a smoke up shut up the original theater lineup was varied containing ballet operas even acrobatics many of handel's operas opened here right up until his death in 1759 when he mysteriously stopped writing them but the building was mainly used for presenting plays at least for the first hundred years of its history it held the exclusive rights to perform spoken drama in london awarded by king charles ii okay this is our first location covent garden okay reginald old friend tutor mentor a thousand apartments birch makes a larger appearance in the ac forsaken novel which serves as a mini prequel to this game would reckon oh i didn't know that i was going to dive into that straight away then i did not know that there was a prequel usually the games are the books sort of follow it closely um [Music] the game playing this when eldon is out damn yeah i'm one of those guys that's uh not a huge from software fan but that's my own fault not from software's i haven't given it the time or energy to to get good enough to enjoy it okay well he's got the uh certainly got the climbing skills of an assassin that's for sure no one can see what we're doing no one's looking up performance is too good [Music] fine he's having a drink look at that surely some people will be gasping look there's a man get down from there man okay so definitely suggest reading the forsaken novel along with this game although maybe wait until sequence three okay we've got to pick a lock right rotate your lock and hold the tension oh hello new mechanic right rotate r to locate and hold the raking and angle and r2 to break the lock that was relatively complicated haytham kenway okay well he's from good stock isn't he he's from wealthy stock he's of money that's for sure but he's got these assassin skills yeah you have a nib beggar's opera um oh didn't mean to do that just trying to find that database entry the beggars opera the beggar's opera opened in london in 1728 it's a well this is later than this it's a musical one of the earliest ever created it was written by john gay a writer and friend of both alexander pope and jonathan swift two of the prominent i don't know i'm mixing with eight sir prominent literary figures of the day the opera was both popular and controversial popular partly because it was an excellent skewering of italian opera which was very popular at the time however instead of complicated italian songs the beggars opera featured folk tunes that the audience could recognize meaning you could hum along even if you didn't know italian this is the birth of popular culture it seems the birth of prime time light entertainment thank you very much beggars opera it was controversial because of the subject matter it's set in the new gate prison and the main characters are all criminals who act much like the upper classes it was a send-up of the british nobility including veiled criticism of the head of government neither of whom traditionally have a sense of humor i've never met a queen who likes a knock-knock joke actually i've never met me the beggars opera was accused of being a base form of entertainment because its main characters were criminals accused of causing increasing crime it's nice to see that the criticism just for me videos buddy opera corrupting our kids thank you sean okay damn we go some lovey darlings down there [Music] so a bit confused should i i'm getting mixed mixed messages here do you think i should just wait to read it or wait till sequence three or what [Music] this is a kill a target a kill [Music] you should have come to me we would have found another way yes but then you would have known for what it's worth i'm sorry am i well i've got a kill to be doing here first kill for haytham kenway what did he take that he took a medallion and it's circular in nature oh you've got to die son altair would kill him no he lets him go okay so the book is one of those in which we will enjoy it even though it's it precursors it will with knowledge we'll enjoy it more when we read it picking out certain things so i'll wait is it by oliver bowden again okay i'm just walking [Music] i saw him run that way shocking i was just there hold x while walking and walking faster and ah so you kind of glide through them i can't get out of here fast enough yeah okay we must have order order we must have order he's an innocent boy an assassin would stay his blade or he'd be unsynchronized that's true he was very very innocent but if you play assassin's creed one when he's doing his investigations he meets people who are forced to do the bidding of the templars they don't want to they're forced to they beg for their lives they say you know he he oppressed me into doing it and he kills him anyway because he doesn't want to anyone to be [Music] informed of of his plans but that's where it stops without idea he kind of learns not to but to start with he secretly loves killing okay we're escaping here but we're doing it very calmly we've blended in quite nicely hello khan welcome okay the opera house is all that's in our wheelhouse within the animus we're leaving and we've synchronized this area so he's like our assistant or manservant how was the opera rather shall we be orphan aye to fleet and bride by your command that looks kind of incan doesn't it or mine is this the key it's obviously gentlemen i hold in my hand a key and if this book is to be believed it will open the doors of a storehouse built by those who came before ah yes those who ruled reigned and vanished from the world do we know what it is that will be held within it could contain certain knowledge perhaps a weapon or something is yet unknown unfathomable in its construction and purpose it could be any of these things or none of them they are still an enigma these precursors but if one thing i am certain whatever waits behind those doors shall prove a great boon to us all or our enemies should they find it first they won't you've seen to that i assume you know where this storehouse is ah mr harrison gentlemen how fair your calculations i believe the site lies somewhere within this region that's a lot of ground to cover my apologies that's all right it suffices for a start and that is why we've called you here master kenway we'd like for you to travel to america locate the storehouse and take possession of its contents i'm yours to command although a job of this magnitude will require more than just myself of course upon this paper are the names of five men sympathetic to our cause each is also uniquely suited to aid you in your endeavor with them at your side charles lee william johnson well then i best be on my way i knew our faith in you was not misplaced we booked you passage to boston your ship leaves at dawn [Music] go forth hatham and bring honor to us all okay off we go mission complete i don't think i could have got that very wrong let's view the progress assassinate the target journey from london to boston aboard the providence yes let's travel to boston john yours says that's my favorite part of ac's one story the gray areas and the philosophies yeah it's um it falls on both sides doesn't it it's pretty great kg will you just be focusing on main quests with some side quests or a hundred percent in the game now depending on the activities i'll definitely be doing all the side quests and i'll definitely be um finding any story however tenuous um but if there's kind of like an ac one pointless flag um collecting for the sake of it i will probably leave those but i'll need to discern what's important what's not so ostensibly i'll be doing everything i possibly can we'll be streaming every episode or just this one as the first one i'll probably be doing them all okay let's do this side missions we've got we've got side missions we've got discovery we've got navel for goodness sake and homestead these are all pretty spoilery aren't they no idea what these are um so these are obviously all the sequences over here they don't give out spoilers yet so hatham so i've got a niggling suspicion that i know the outcome of this so i don't want to get too attached to him but do we do we like hate do we like haytham i mean [Music] do we want to like him no spoilers please [Music] aboard the providence [Music] he's a journaler that's for sure [Music] some fresh air might do me good some nice so let's read about the providence some nice songs there naval songs so the providence was one of the many sailing ships in the british merchant navy which basically means it was a trade ship rather than one meant for war you'll notice it's carrying cannons but those are mainly for protection the ship was built in 1748 and made several trips a year between britain and north american colonies with occasional visits to the west indies the manifest doesn't indicate anything particularly interesting mostly it carried staples like tea molasses and cloth it's captained by its part owner one samuel smythe who got something of a reputation among sailors for both cruelty to his crew and penny pinching on rations incidentally that's not exactly a way to keep good sailors on board the crew is probably both inexperienced and disgruntled ideally you want an experienced crew who are hugely grundled although you likely don't know much about running an 18th century sailing vessel odds okay what have we got what have we got we've got people eating people lounging looks like they've got their rations of ram going on there's a guy here over a barrel we've got a game over here some kind of checkers or something they've got some livestock on board and somewhere to cook and store produce pig sheep goat cheese and bread going stale i imagine that's some kind of brandy we've got onions potatoes fresh produce don't know how long it stays fresh i don't know how long the um the journey would have been but these are these are cured meats so they'll well don't look cute actually i don't want to be hanging fish up there okay uh compared to laser games the side quests here are pretty well worth complete keep cool games i can't wait for the critique of this game i mean i can wait just don't want to though you'll be waiting a long time keep cool um i can't do everything unfortunately it takes me so long to do the critiques even longer than the story videos and it absolutely taxes my brain so i just don't get any output um i did the first two enjoyed those but they took me so long because i had to go through all the game in with fine toothed comb and i i'd rather just speak my mind on the on the play throughs and um maybe at the end of each play through i'll i'll make notes and we'll talk about what we've seen but unfortunately i haven't got the bandwidth to do that um chica hello cheek is always on uh the horizon forbidden west streams which will now take place on a tuesday thanks for turning up to those what orders to play the games well i've been playing playing them in release order um and i've also played the later ones but the later ones i turned a blind eye to any of the old lore i kind of skipped through them because i wanted to be a surprise but you could enjoy those very very much without too much knowledge of the law because i did the success of the naval missions are what inspired future entries at the time looking forward to your opinion on them there are people to talk to below deck and also speak to the captain before heading to your main mission right so how do you speak to people um i guess you've got to wait for an opportunity to to do so it's saying go to the upper deck i'm trying to get an opportunity to speak to someone but it's not coming up with any anything so i'll head upstairs khan how did you find the new horizon game i'm about 12 hours in and i'm really really enjoying it it's um it's like the jump from assassin's creed to assassin's creed ii they've hit upon the law and the mechanics and they've just doubled down and improved them and added more more variety and more loveliness it's great i really like you sure it that of course have i ever led you astray nah no you don't sit right with the others have faith my friend you'll see well well seems our esteemed guest has deigned to grace us with his presence you might want to head back to your quarters top decks no place for tender parnell so we're not a tender perennial mate fancy yourself a jokery let's see how funny you find this that's enough graves stay out of this roy graves you're going down mate i'm gonna take you right down right uh punch and counter i counted that oh i'm trying to punch but it's just allowing me to cancer oh hold i see there we go hold before the attacking indica appears over the end of his head this way you can parry to deflect attacks i don't know what i'm doing what am i doing hold circle before the attacking interfaces over the enemy's head that we can parry there we go there we go i'm spamming there up here and declare himself please fellas call this off if the captain sees hail with the captain and the hell with you mills whose side you want anyway press cancer and then press i'm ready to go again if you are this is unwise what is that you think i'm afraid i've yet no but you should be but you should be [Applause] never how do you like these odds okay we've got a knife blaze right [Applause] right press once at the right moment to disarm okay what's the meaning of this captain explain yourself at once mr kenway these thoughts we were simply passing the time with a bit of sport captain how about you pass the time by doing your goddamn jobs instead i wasn't aware i was paying you to lull about a word please mr kenway oh i nearly forgot there's your knife back samuel smythe for penny-pinching samuel smythe [Music] okay follow the captain to his cabin i don't care for you mr kenway i've had nothing but trouble since you came aboard your problems have nothing to do with me i beg your pardon you're a poor leader ill-tempered and cruel and it's clear your crew has no respect for you look i don't want to argue in fact i need a favor oh this is rich i suspect some of the men intend to mutiny really what a surprise as i cannot trust any of them i am compelled to turn to you and why should i help you because if they do intend to betray i'm the only hope you have of reaching america alive well what will it be if what you say is true what other choice do i have thank you but let me be clear should you ever dare to insult or threaten me again i'll not hesitate but to cut off your head myself are we understood excellent crystal by the sounds of it good day day 28 goodness me atlantic ocean so a lunar month on this on board this ship mr kenway captain whatever they're up to i believe it's coming to a head i'd best get to work okay so we're carrying this key so throughout the game so far we've seen it been called the old ones the ones that came before and in that meeting there between those uh those gentlemen we call they were called the precursors so that's the first time we've seen a different um name given to them okay so we've got lots of markers around here is this our cabin i don't know it's not very well appointed there's another cabin in here it's rather more ground seemingly right because we investigate the crew that's the toilets that is he's cut our rations again claims we're not provisioned for such luxuries it's not right that you should face on land and wine like i speak to this gentleman biscuits someone you looking for another fight is that it go away i may do that yeah you don't want to be talked to again that's fine go away go on go away right we might do some dice some games but i'm more keen on wasn't by choice hi blockheads the both of them where are my manners louis mills pleased to meet you atham kenway so should i be watching my back i think the boys learned their lesson that they're normally not so nasty honest it's just the past few crossings have been a bit rough oh captain's trying to cut costs reduced rations lower wages more dangerous cargo it's put the crew on edge is that cause for concern then not if i can help it but the captain needs to think about the way he treats his men very disgruntled not quick enough to grab the grab the databases all right here we go uh another database here we are okay well kind of like that's self-explanatory isn't it but we might get to understand how long the crossings are of course crossing the atlantic today isn't easy as a plane ride but it was much more difficult in colonial times even though i imagine the tiny food and crap conditions and likelihood of sitting next to a fat man for many hours was pretty much the same for european travelers it was at best a six-week voyage bloody hell so we're kind of two-thirds of the way through this voyage but depending on the delays it could last months dangers included storms seasickness food running short and dying of boredom because they had nothing to do all day for africans captured into slavery the atlantic voyage was much worse across the middle passage usually to the caribbean the journey was just as long but slaves were kept below decks and rarely allowed out in the fresh air with the men usually in shackles they were given only one meal a day less if provisions ran low disease was rampant and mortality rates were high so uh slavery was was a thing in the u.s at this time it was a fair while before um before that was changed i wonder if they're going to give a nod to that within the game or they just ignore it because george washington had slaves most of the politicians would have had slaves so um whether they whitewash that i'm not sure um usually in shackles they were given only one meal a day less if prisoners ran low disease was rampant mortality rates were high or never complain about being inappropriately touched by airport security again though to be fair we're now firm friends and you're such a brick louie mills louis mills is deckhand originally from where we british somewhat octopus he called sunny brighton he got his love of the sea from his father he was also a sailor he first took young louis to see with him at age of 10 sailing from london to boston on a vessel named the wynwood as he grew older mills kept working as a merchant marine traveling the world and gaining a reputation as a reliable and level-headed sailor he joined the crew of the providence in 1752 staying with the captain and crew through a variety of hardships though by 1755 he was thinking of moving on so he's been there three years so you could have spoken to the doctor if you went to him before the fight but it's fine you haven't lost any major information or anything i tried to speak to the doctor i'm sure didn't didn't show up so will you be reading the animus database like you read the data i'll read all the all the database are we playing freedom cry yes let's go any more there's another situation here but this guy we fought is that correct i got nothing to say to you okay right do we play this dice game is there any value in playing it hello robin thanks very much welcome to the stream i want to speak to all and sundry who's got the conversation for me my name is haytham and i wish to talk to as many people as would wish to talk to me okay is it worth playing should we have a little go let one go shall we some two sometimes referred to as cowboy checkers nine men's morris is a board game that dates back at least the roman empire is played on a board with nine stones for each player players alternatively play stones three stones in a row gives the player the right to remove an opposing stone leave the opponent with less than three pieces form mills to capture enemy pieces a mill is formed when three of your pieces are placed in a straight line forming a mill allows the player to take an enemy piece of their choice players place their pieces one after the other in any empty space on the board players take turn moving their pieces to a neighboring empty slot when a player is left with only three pieces he can move them at any empty slots on the board clueless clueless not now unless it oh no it's use the p selectors to place pieces on empty slots um so we've got to do three in a row is that right all right let's let's put him there [Applause] um so i've got to block him there why is it like it's like not some crosses form mills by lining up three of your pieces to eliminate one of your opponent's pieces so he's going to put one in the top right now and he's going to eliminate one of mine is that right [Music] oh he's taking one the beast [Music] i'm still fairly clueless as to the tactics of this hello rev we're playing some game that we don't know what we're doing amongst yeah i thought we'd put it there i've got to put it here [Applause] so ricardo you're enjoying this mini game you enjoyed this mini game okay i'm still pretty clueless okay he's done one there all right i didn't know how to play that no hope okay this option objects is limit health loss to 10 percent you there i have some questions for you that's nice but i ain't got time to gossip probably wouldn't have anything useful to share anyway you want information try the cook or the doctor everyone's always chatting them up positions of importance he looks like he was fond of the drink i don't think or maybe maybe he's fond of the lord in them who knows i think he gets high on his own supply anyway hello sir a doctor if you have a moment have you taken it oh nothing like that i was wondering if you'd heard any rumblings of trouble aboard what sort of trouble unusual complaints or grievances men taking issue with the captain you sound just like james like i told him i've been much too busy with my research to notice anything not work really and where might i find james the gal is your best bet now if you'll excuse me okay so we've got a lead james how's your patient by the way surgeon he's he's on the booze oh no he's again claims we're not provisioned for such luxuries he thought there's some kind of based on land and wine we're stuck with tinned fish and biscuits someone needs to have words with him mills tried captain turn him away then he must try again with more force if need be there is a mutiny brewing i can sense it on board i can feel it i can feel it in the boards around me there's her knee brewing right let's go and speak to this cook james we were supposed to speak to but i think we'll speak to the cook first oh we locked it out it was either or never mind james james what can you tell me about immediately are you james hi hatham kenway pleased to meet you i know who you are i was hoping you could answer some questions i figured as much but not here follow me oh what do you want to know have you seen or heard anything out of the ordinary since we left port anything that gives cause for concern some of the men have been gathering at night on the upper deck i've only caught bits of their conversations so i couldn't say for certain what they're up to but i suspect it bodes ill is it a mutiny they're planning all i know is they've little love for the captain mills has been trying to talk him down but there's only so much one man can do thank you for the information i only wish to see us reach the colonies alive [Music] the myth health lost 10 i'm still not sure if these uh these controls so there's a there's a counter and there's an attack button but we'll see we've also got another conversation it might be the captain because that one's up there yes i think it is let's talk to the captain samuel sir we have we're on to a lead you must expose whatever they're plotting your crew is a tight-lipped bunch but i'll see what i can do well hurry up that's it just a little sit-wrap guys peaceful though isn't it neria land in sight the old quartermaster there surely we get to climb that oh we do we do i'll wait till there's a there's a cause 2 first is there some kind of collectible up there maybe evening sir how are things calm and quiet just the way i like it what brings you top side thought i'd wander a bit stretch my legs that's all say care where you tread the deck hides all manner of danger in the dark what was that okay investigate the noise on the lower deck did you see that sir did you see it i'm just gonna check over here see if there's any no no conversations to be had i might take this down this way though aha quite the base thing you gave graves and quill wasn't by choice i think we've had this one haven't we hi blockheads to both of them where are my manners louis mills pleased to meet you haytham kenway we've had this so should i be watching my back i think the boys learned their lesson they're normally not so nasty honest it's just the past few crossings have been a bit rough oh captain's trying to cut costs reducing we'll skip this because we've already done it why reactivate yourself quiet here it comes make like your work um hold it down here i think we went the wrong way claims we're not provisioned for such luxuries it's all right you should feast on lamb and wine while we're stuck with tinned fish and biscuits someone needs to have words with him clue so if it marked with an axe curious most curious so this is five days later [Music] any news each night it's the same i scout one area and they drop the painted barrels from another i'm going to need to recruit an extra pair of eyes maybe james or mills why are they doing this near as i can tell the barrels serve as markers they're leaving a trail my fear is it's only a matter of time before whoever's following it shep sighted aft she's making ready to fire beat to quarters men ready though brace everybody down so those barrels are some kind of signal our warning shot seems they don't need to sink us but bored us instead man the cannons make ready to fight i want you below decks why let me help you secure the ship do you know how to rig a sail to load a cannon to wage war at sea i didn't think so now return to your cabin or do i need to have you escorted got to obey the captain secure the hatch hate him have you been topside her shift's appeared it means to borders but strange there's no sign of mutiny aboard it doesn't make sense ah but it does assume oh louie did you think you could escape from london so easily after what you did at the opera that we wouldn't notice that we wouldn't follow oh that's a twist so that's what this is about surrender and i will see that you are treated with honor if you wish to treat me with honor give me a sword are you sure this is how you want to play it [Music] gentlemen okay with a bit of a sword tutorial here nervous about these these melee exchanges they're complicated right a red designated silence must be killed oh i'm just spamming here it's quite close quarters right disarmed him again disarmed him nice just keep disarming him oh i don't know how i did that but that was funky nice i told you to stay below decks i did as you asked only mills was there waiting for me he's the one that drew that ship here there was no mutiny only him what do they want me then they can have you is that sir you'll catch us anyway there's nothing to be done i can think of something you wish us to sail into the storm it's our only chance i won't do it grow some balls man all right all right do as i say only chance of escape we need those ropes secured i told you this was back i'm yourself i'll fix your sail for you right we're getting our our wish here i think of going up that last okay we're running away from this ship so mills is um is giving it a signal to arrive to avenge the kill we had it in the opera house we didn't get his name it was just uh target i think they called they called him but we got him anyway so ricardo for some reason the game doesn't mention but there are stage finishes little complicated to get how it works but pretty cool when it happens davey jones is coming for us indeed he is we we must be of see seafaring stock for uh for hate him to know what he's doing have secured sails in such weather we need more speed lose the sails hate them you take the four masks james okay we've got to get up there for goodness sake still still wanting to press x but we just hold down our two at aim deploy the sail that's a loose man let her fly let's force me that well that's the main sail gone right rescue james within the time given okay of course i was lollygagging there i don't know if i'm gonna do it because i'm just sat there for 10 seconds i've got you james oh thank you thank you pleasure sir oh that's suffered oh my goodness well the plan worked okay so we we we outlooked it so 72 days are we coming into to uh to see dry land everyone's in need of some citrus fruits i think are they biscuits so when you see seagulls does that mean dry land imagine in the middle of the atlantic it was just a rat now before we go upstairs i just want to see whether we're arriving at boston i just want to see whether these um who's back here whether they've eaten these animals yet or they've managed to slaughter them because it must be coming to the end of the rations yes that's great that's great everyone's tired everyone's hungry everything's gone by the uh the alcohol we're down to our last dregs okay so meet the captain at the bow arrival i see no land only this interminable fog the goals tell us all we need to know climb into the crow's nest and you'll see another opportunity to climb climb the foremast it's so much smoother the weight has been sort of lifted a little bit that's more towards fluidity rather than realism i really like it there's little pauses isn't there for animation but oh do we need to we need to go down we're in the wrong one in the bloody wrong one um i don't want to lose my 10 health really um can we can we get across without doing that no it just we we've done the wrong one okay coming back down coming down is nice and fluid as well i'm just gonna try and drop yes a lot more yes i like it a marked improvement in uh in the movement mechanics we're not pressing x though oh like a whippet so we're going to the crow's nest above the fog to see land oh that music is beautiful isn't it i've been listening to it on spotify before just to get a sense of the soundtrack but here we go an hour and a half in assassin's creed 3 that's boston baby that is boston in the 1700s the cusp of the revolution [Music] thanks nate welcome to the stream master can we master kenway yes may i help you charles lee sir a pleasure to make your acquaintance i've been asked to introduce you to the city help you settle it oh no need sir i've arranged for your bags to be delivered to the end thank you charles are you by any chance john and isabella's son i'm gonna read about you charles if it's the last thing i do i'm gonna read everything there is to know about you charles no joking now please sean charles lee was a british soldier who went on to be a major figure in the revolutionary war lee's father was a colonel in the british army who started his son off in a military career early he was sent to a military academy in switzerland during his formative years and then in 1746 lee became an ensign in his father's regiment he was sent to the colonies in 55 to fight in in the french and indian war he served under edward braddock and then later it fought tikkon where he was injured in the fighting lee recovered and later fought at fort niagara i'd always thought there was a lot of fort fights fought he finished his time in the colonies with the british conquest of montreal lee returned to england in 1760 possibly because he was seeking career advancement he was named a major in 61 and was set to fight the spanish in portugal though his service record there was good lee didn't receive praise on his return home in fact he was retired from his army at half-pay after that he became a vocal critic of military higher reps and the british prime minister and found that his military career had inexplicably completely stalled i wouldn't i wonder what happened why did they turn against old charles born in 1731. so he's anti-british one and the same your commission is with edward braddock is it not i but he's yet to reach america and i figured i might well at least until he arrives i thought yes out with it forgive me sir i had i had hoped that i might look at this if i am to serve the order i can imagine no better mentor than yourself serve the order no mention of the assassins yet impossible sir this way look at this the fidelity is gorgeous i know it's the remaster but look at the shadows look at the people all of their own individual let's listen to this guy oh stay close okay not gonna let me explore i'll get it hey eric how's it going hello anna rude hello sir hello who's that okay so charles is uh responsible for every oh look at that don't drop your potatoes bit of peasy crime can we can we stop him should we do that i think we're gonna let that one go so we have got british soldiers are an enemy and they're dotted around the place british regulus let's read about those british regulars were the foot soldiers of the british army you'll also hear them referred to derisively as red coats because of the red coats they wear or lobster backs because of their huge deadly pincer well still because of the redcoat thing i can't remember which come on regulars in the colonies were notoriously underpaid and many look for work outside of their army duties to make ends meet of course their room and board was paid by the government meaning they could charge lower than average rates for their work since unemployment was high in boston before the revolution you can imagine this made the red coats rather unpopular among people they were taking work from that's oh come on so yeah poverty is rife boston's quite a lively city there's all manner of things to see and do once you've settled in i suggest you take some time to walk the streets who knows what opportunities you might hold a moment we need to fetch a few things before we get to work i'm just reading uh ms saying pet the dog i'd like yeah you can't pet the dog or the air he stands betwixt anyway so back then this game was vacancy mark basically marketed as next-gen some people were getting hyped because the eyes had reflections let's see right see right sir see your bodice i can't see your eyes oh see your bristles hurry let's have a look in your eyes show me your eyes yeah there's a bit of a twinkle there but maybe it's in the uh not in the npcs it's in perhaps the protagonists okay so we've got lots of on the mini map we've got lots of redcoats kicking around where's charles gone did he just leave [Music] find a general store so that everyone's doing their own thing there's these guys examining their um their shipments there's people discussing things there's obviously the redcoats mooching around but it's bustling it's obviously a real center of trade any any harbour would be doggies and i cringe a tiny bit whenever there is an opportunity to pet an animal i i think it's uh it's become a meme that you got to have that in a game and it's just a bit boring there are a number of public markets in the colonies meaning you could get supplies easily of course paying for goods in a is another matter as currency was incredibly complex people paid in english spanish french portuguese coins one pump those new jersey and new york bills magic beans laundromat coins this goes on while some markets sold a variety of goods like for no i don't wanna in boston i don't know how to pronounce that others were more specialized new york's contee's slip was mainly a fish market these pronunciations i wonder where they're from i mean feni if any sounds french um well if the market for african slaves pec slip was the place to go so it's mentioned in the database whether they show this kind of slave trading going on i don't know yes slavery was legal at the time though it was less common in boston than new york okay they're trying to bypass it there which have the largest slave population in the north don't be precise they'll be surprised to see european servants for sale either some were sold for a fixed number of years to pay back their passage to the new world a much better deal than slaves were offered [Music] hello nate i have one question for you were you an employee of the history channel because of your voice your voice sounds good thank you thank you very much let us continue no i wasn't employed by the history channel or or or anyone of that nature but i do enjoy it's a i start doing the let's plays and that's the first time i've i spoke in front of a in into a microphone and i found that um just enjoyed manipulating my voice to to be more dramatic or more poignant um in certain reads and i've just developed it over the last three years with the channel it's been fun this accursed city will be the death of me you seem troubled friend that's because i am greatly so in fact benjamin franklin what's happened i was robbed the old balkan file though i've managed to restore what's mine i fear it's ruined you mean the book this is no ordinary book it's an almanac the first i ever wrote benjamin franklin pleased to meet you hatham can we you must be new to boston why do you say that you're still possessed a virtue to stop and help an old lout like myself i i don't mean to impose but you see miss cry fellow should you happen to find my missing pages i'll reward you look i'm not sure if i've it's all right all righty if you have the time hurrah if not no harm done the thing is useless in its current state anyway but should you somehow manage to restore it you'll find me inside that general store over there well that was interesting collect almanac 173 volume 1 pages note 4. okay we've got to read about old benjamin so he's politically minded he was never the president although i once thought he was and he quite the inventor i think he created bifocals that's my knowledge of benjamin franklin invented diplomats i'm one of the signers of the declaration of independence he was a rock star of the age benjamin franklin was born in 1706 the 10th son of a soap maker 10 sons i guess his parents couldn't afford a television and also there was no television he began working for his brother in 1718 as an apprentice printer however their relationship was rocky particularly after the elder franklin found out that young benjamin had been writing for the paper under a pseudonym silence do good and writing an extremely popular column at that human nature being what it was the fact that the column was popular was probably the bigger problem benjamin ran away in 1723 and headed for philadelphia where he continued his career in printing and writing eventually buying the pennsylvania gazette the business not just a copy that would have been one of his lesser achievements he stayed in philadelphia for most of his life that is when he wasn't making extended trips to europe i've got another fact about benjamin franklin and this is a good fact this is a very good fact because it speaks to um [Music] the subjects of compound interest which i like so benjamin franklin was i think fairly well off but he left um i think it was about 25 or 50 000 which is an enormous sum in those days but still there's some that you couldn't do much with he left it to the pennsylvanian council uh or philadelphia council or or government or whatever he says right you can have this but you can't touch it for 200 years i'm going to put it into a an interest account and it's going to accrue over that time so in 200 years it was unlocked it was probably in in in the mid 1900s and in that time it accrued it's 50 000 it turned into over 200 million with uh with compound interest that's just amazing isn't it so a little tip for you 20 everything you earn keep 20 of it and put it into a an interest account not you probably won't find one for much better still find a share dealing account and buy uh shares in various various things this is what i don't know anything about cryptocurrency this is all no and however old you are bu thirty fifty do it and see what happens in twenty years time uh you'll probably be able to buy a house franklin had a talent for persuasion and that made him an ideal diplomat in 1757 he went to london to represent pennsylvania in an ongoing legal battle with the penn family it was the first of several extended political trips to britain and he would act as the state representative for massachusetts georgia and new zealand new jersey sorry as well in fact franklin was in europe for most of the revolution though he was in the colonies to help with the writing of the declaration franklin was a vocal opponent of british impositions on the colonies like the stamp act and although he first fought for the rights of colonists as british citizen he eventually became convinced like many of the founding fathers that independence was the only real solution unfortunately franklin's change of heart made him clash with his son william who served as the royal governor of new jersey william remained an active loyalist they never spoke again and that's sad gk you could have an asmr channel because a lot of people praise your voice that's very cool okay so this is the general store who's this guy can't speak to him yet apparently find a general store okay let's go in here good day to you open fire seat to rest our weary bones that's quite welcoming so we can sell items we don't have any items to sell we can buy items firearms or normal weapons okay normal sword how much cash have we got we've got 2 850 pounds that is a king's ransom i imagine so we can buy that normal sword this blade is useful to settle matters quickly and effectively when coast combat occurs its noiseless approach makes it reliable under any weather conditions especially when black powder is dripping wet and unusable the guard is wide and protects the wielder's hand sometimes it may also be used to punch the opponent okay that's a decent mechanic so speed 4 damage 2 combo 3. um go on then thank you very much so that is equipped and a firearm so there's just one of each this is a flintlock pistol this is going to take the rest of our money basically the flintlock pistol has a better accuracy at short range and is thus less powerful than the musket however it's more comfortable in a fight than on a battlefield and easier to wield offering more versatility because of the time it takes to reload after every single shot many people carry two or more pistols at the same time so this is going backwards a bit um considering the technology we had two hundred years prior with ezio and that was obviously our altair's discovery and then developed by um leonardo but we were able to fire pretty quickly we didn't have to reload so that's a step backward i wonder where that technology went try crafting a pistol sheave with two holsters to add and carry a second pistol please okay so that's rate of fire six short range long range okay exit shop and equip the purchase weapons okay okay how do we equip hold r1 unarmed large weapons oh goodness i've assigned it at the top i didn't really mean to do that so what to say hold our one to open the tool wheel use r to select the flint lock pistol and release r1 to exit the tool wheel now press say oh i see here we go okay um let's mount we ride for the green dragon tavern the proprietors are eccentric but the rooms are spacious and they do not pry have you been told why it is i've come to boston no master birch said i should know only as much as you saw fit to share he sent me a list of names and made me ensure you could find them and have you had any luck with that hi william johnson waits for us at the green dragon how well do you know him not well but he saw the order's mark and did not hesitate to come prove yourself loyal to our cause and you may yet know our plans as well i should like nothing more sir you may yet know our plans nate fox there goes all my theories and research about you that was two months of work and hours of sleep down the drain goodness me well if you search hard enough you'll probably find a few things out um there's not much to find out i'm quite quite dull i know stays with green dragon tavern this tavern is sometimes called the headquarters of the revolution i imagine when it is they pronounce it headquarters of the revolution because overthrowing the government oh i did an irish accent but that was supposed to be a pissed pissed rendition of it there's a popular place for people like paul revere and samuel adams to sit with their friends and plot up until 1754 the tavern was owned by william douglas when he died his property was left to his daughter catherine kerr and his nephew cornelius douglas they divided their inheritance equally and seems got along famously the freemasons bought the tavern in 1766 and renamed it the freemasons arms which didn't exactly stick because the sign above the door was still a green dragon freemasons are the secret society everyone knows about let's get a pub where we can meet in complete secrets and i'll never know legend has it the paul revere's ride was will revere's ride was planned here but that's unlikely by 1775 revere had been warned that the british were listening in on his meetings and therefore stop making super secret plans in public where anyone could hear them someone tell the masons you know where to find them what was that fanny hall yes that was the the store was it don't let the french fan finale okay thank you the name of this building is pronounced fanuel or finale getting it wrong is a good way to indicate you're not from here but it's also a great way of proving you're not french which in my experience is a real boon also if you want to pass as a local you should take a look at the weathervane okay it's boston landmark legend has it that in the war of 1812 suspected spies were asked what was on top of the finale hall only a true local would be able to say it was a grasshopper the building was named after peter fernell the local merchant who paid to build it it was meant as a place for local farmers to sell their goods so their carts would stop crowding the streets and also so you didn't have to walk near farmers however it's the meeting hall on the second floor which gives the building its name the cradle of liberty that's rather ostentatious i dare say american as a nickname but it's not inaccurate people met here to protest the stamp tax the stamp act the first anti-t tax meeting were also held here anti-british meetings occasionally drew crowds so large that the building couldn't even hold them during the siege of boston the meeting hall here was made over into a theater since plays of any kind were banned in boston under ordinary circumstances something i think should still be a law actually this is yet another example of the british list sticking to the sticking it to the rebels new weapons of the shop a french rapier and i'm on a horse how did that happen okay i'm going to take a little look at the map um zoom in oh wow so this is the east coast i wonder if we head further afield we're obviously in boston now what if we go further there's an interactive conversation over there that is at the shop isn't it but there this marker is our main mission i'm just gonna look what it says we should be doing okay haytham is newly arrived in boston charles lee greets him and gives him a tour of the city reach the memory for more information okay here we go charles hello sir this one's called a favor you're lying cheating no good son of a [ __ ] perhaps you'd come at a bad time oh don't be foolish dearies please sit fancy something to eat a drink perhaps or is it a bed you require we've already left rooms suggested oh yes of course masters lee and kenway uh was it uh i'll have your bags brought up so this is a family the douglas family who seemed to not be getting on famously do you require anything further only privacy i know that was catherine kerr wasn't it that wasn't a douglas so should i re shall i leave the animus to read these things or shall i wait i've been told to wait yes nate i haven't got there yet um all in good time holding good time you're going to go upstairs in a minute but i'm going to check out this uh this drinking hole looks i just love i'd love to get dressed up hop in anonymous um well i'll probably get dressed up after the animus and just go in and experience different times oh there's a magic guitar and i'd come back to a place like this and just sit in with a drink and just soak up the vibe that'd be amazing hello catherine how you doing you having to go you're a feisty one aren't you i'm sorry about that i didn't mean to sneak up on you but i just wanted to see how you were are you okay even effect oh all right okay i don't need to tell me twice do not need to tell me to ace okay we've got a meeting here's a red coat is that a red coat william johnson so he was a land speculator and britain so before we left we were around the table and we were charged with coming to america spending six weeks in the protests process to find a use for this key and we were given a list of names and william johnson was on there but i didn't get to read the rest is that something we have on us i'm going to look in a minute william johnson was a land speculator and britain's principal treaty negotiator with the indigenous peoples in the northern part of the colonies particularly the iroquois johnson was born in ireland but moved to the colonies in 38 to look after his uncle's property on the mohawk river however it wasn't long before johnson branched out into business for himself acquiring property on the opposite side of the river and setting up a sawmill and trading post which he named mount johnson which to me always sounds like mating instructions from a caveman that was pretty funny in 1743 he moved to an even larger part of the land which was named fort johnson johnson befriended the indigenous peoples in the area particularly the canyon kika kahaka no clue whose language he learned his respect for their customs helped him rise prominence as a liaison between the iraq peoples and the british government johnson was named superintendent of indian affairs in 56 as a contract who knows the land of his people so he i'm guessing he was a sympathizer because he learned the language and he was out some sort of go-between to make sure you know they didn't get left over maybe i'm hoping sounds like a good guy sounds like a good guy okay louis mills yeah he turned out to be a uh not who he says he was okay charles sir william johnson a pleasure a good lad if a bit earnest i'm told you're putting together an expedition we believe there's a precursor site in the region i require your knowledge of the land and its people to find it sadly my research has been stolen without it i'm of no use to you then we'll find it do you have any leads my associate thomas hickey has been making the realms he's quite good at loosening tongs well tell me where i can find him i'll see if i can't speed things up we've heard rumors of bandits operating from a compound southwest of here you'll likely find him there charles sir would best be off of course so thomas hickey irish ball member of the british army he arrived in boston in 52 but it wasn't long before he was assigned to william johnson's personal guard apparently at johnson's request hickey served under johnson during the french and indian war but then he left the army after being written up several times for disorderly contact in 60 after 60 hickey disappears from the historical records for several years i do however have several mentions in william johnson's household accounts of payments made to th it's possible he was working for him as a spy okay okay so they have got research about this this ones that came before site precursor site and yes the research has been lost but we've got to go and sort all this now i'm going to take a very small break a matter of of a minute or so and i shall be back very shortly and before i do without any spoilers if it's a future game i'll leave you with a question which is your favorite game so far in the franchise um and i'll tell you mine when i get back see in a moment i'm back i'm back i'm out of breath and i'm back thank you for your patience i'll um one day when i've got my [ __ ] together i've saved up my pennies i'll get the site the uh the graphics card and the software needed to uh organize a nice little sort of be right back page and all the bells and whistles maybe one day a camera who knows so omar likes brotherhood hi linda likes four what's that called played up to origins brotherhood and four black [ __ ] ac4 odyssey brotherhood black [ __ ] black flag ac2 and three remastered as well well i'm not going to tell you what my thoughts of of the later games too much just yet but my favorite up to i've played so far in my series i'm going to be a contrarian here and i'm going to say revelations i loved the story in revelations i loved where ezio was at his development as a character and the stage he was at i just felt really connected to him and um not gameplay-wise i thought it's um others better but just story-wise i just love his romance with sophia and how beautiful and innocent that was and how he lost all his his lust for for women and he was just wanted to to connect with someone and he was far from home he was on his own and he was entering into this new brotherhood uh that he hadn't spent any time with and he could feel he was both old and young he had this new lust for life again but it came from a place of wisdom i thought was so well written i loved it i loved it it hit me deep deep in the fields which is why stay with me can we have another chat to this guy then tell me about yourself william what we can i was born in ireland to catholic parents which i learned early in life severely limited my opportunities so i converted to protestantism and journeyed here at the behest of my uncle but i hear my uncle peter was not the swiftest of men he sought to open trade with the kanye gahaga instead of on them i tried to reason with the man but as i said not the swiftest so i took what little money i'd earned and bought my own little plot of land i built a home a farm a store and a mill humble beginnings but well situated which made all the difference so this is how you came to know the mohawk indeed and it has proved a valuable relationship but still no mention from your contacts of the precursor site no hidden temple or ancient constructs yes and no which is to say they have their fair share of sacred sites earth and moons forest clearance hidden caves but nothing matching what you describe no strange metals no odd glows hmm it is well hidden even to them it seems but cheer up my friend you'll have your precursor treasure i swear it to our success then and soon that's really interesting they're not it's um you know the settlers they've only been here a matter of matter of decades this this um this new america is very very young um so they're asking the the native people who have been here for years and any notion of of strange unexplained sights will be deep in their knowledge and culture it's very interesting can we speak to charles not just yet okay right out this is the warmth of this bar so we're going to find johnson's research hello hello right so is this guy the hickey gentleman johnson's errand thomas hickey who's asking pathan kenway is that supposed to mean something show some respect boy peace charles william johnson sent us in hopes we might expedite your search but don't need no expediting don't need none of your fancy london speak neither i found the men that done the theft then why are you just lazing around figuring out how to deal with those violets i have an idea let's hear it i'll kill the lookout take up a position behind the guards are you two approaching the front when i open fire on the group you charge in i have the element of surprise on our side half or four before they've even realized what's happened okay we are taking on l1 to aim while holding l2 press r2 to shoot what right now get into position but wait for me to take the first shot okay kill mercering using firearms one out of ten okay you load that up um can we can we come up here can we ride up there yes we can okay oh i've i've not done these objectives follow thee to the green dragon and horseback follow charles lee is that mean we won't be fully synced okay we can pick up a musket she's a guard at the fourth century targets killed where which fought centuries i've done here okay i have pressure to reload come on reload how long does this take bloody hell we need some precursor technology okay reach the entrance now are we taking on these guys i'm gonna try or should i just ignore them i am gonna die oh hello this is lovely fall back fall back we'll be safe inside what now we can blow the door with those go on shoot them you're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off on with the show then okay so that was quite nice i'm getting the hang of the counter but i'm i'm i could still do it a bit more i was so safe inside after all i'm unsure about the the reloading and how long it takes that's curious to me save your looting for after we found johnson's research i shall not we will loot now because there's money that's 13 pounds that's probably a month's wages or more 14 pounds okay so this is the stolen chest the stolen research what those weren't red coats though are they lay down your weapons and mercenaries i make you the same offer we've no quarrel i only wish to return this chest to its rightful owner nothing rightful about mr johnson i won't ask again a grade okay uh pressed perform recollect shot bang that's a reflex that was right i want to choose my sword that was lovely kind is no need for books and maps who put you up to this never seen a person it's always been dead drops and letters but they always pay sir we do the jobs well those days are done tell your masters i said as much who should i say you are you don't they'll know it's all cryptic isn't it it's all cryptic this one's got some shot on him you might want to be grabbing it on account of your pistol being parched so i'm just gonna write this down a shame so many had to die a little note to myself to mention to talk about it at a later date um i have some some knowledge i'm not completely sure do they lose more than half of their health okay and kill mercer is using firearms with only seven left to get yeah i'm not sure i'm gonna make that okay we don't let's let's pick this up okay don't let go of the chest charles we'll take care of this rebel oh i want to kill you that's nice yeah okay nice charles lee's a bit taken aback there wait then bodies is sure to have loot on them would be a shame to let it all go to waste are you mad in case you've forgotten we're in the midst of something okay so paul charles took a little bit of a hit there but i'm gonna keep hold of this do i need to reload i don't think so okay so we're gathering this this research that was stolen but at the hest of someone and you use mercenaries to do it that's what i've gleaned so far who shall i say right uh oh god it's i'll find it hard to aim that's nice oh that was that was very good right i'm going to reload i'm going to try and take this guy down because i really want that objective it's very it's very uh sensitive the aiming thing oh he's he's he's loading up as well who can go at first who can do it first right in the nether regions with knives they are just six left i'm concerned with okay more than half health we're looking for i'm not sure the rewards for sticking within the objectives but um synchronization in past games gave you some perks maybe a bit of story we of course learned a lot about ezio and christina by doing that i'm going to shoot this guy up here bang oh now i'll chain this oh that's lovely oh yes [Music] [Music] right yeah right in the head picking up a musket is much faster god it's so sensitive i was in the neck pick up this one right charles isn't doing too well he's kind of a third down i don't know the range of these bad boys but good so one more oh that hurts come on right come on reload reload come on in the neck okay so that is boy mr johnson's gonna need to double my pay after all this if he expects me to keep at his side calm down mate stop bloody moaning all right we've got a job to do here just [ __ ] hold your horses all right there you are my thanks master kenway no tell me what it is you need the images on this amulet are they familiar to you perhaps one of the tribes has shown you something it similar kanye and gahaga in origin can you trace it to a specific location i need to know where it came from with my research returned perhaps let me see what i can do thomas whoa rent yourself a room and a bath as well i suspect we'll be here for a while you dig into that research william okay so this is our base we've completed that errand mission completes that was 100 sync so far that's pretty cool so neither arrives in boston retrieve johnson's stolen documents and the next memory is more information needed we have three opportunities to discuss things here so let's start with charles who's the main mission anything more that johnson's got to say i'll let you know as soon as i have something okay let's speak to hickey don't don't have too many brain cells to wrap together but you might tell us something my name is come on come on any news whispers of things nothing solid at the moment i know you're looking for word of anything out of the ordinary dealing with temples and spirits in ancient times and whatnot but so far can't say my boys have heard much no trinkets or artifacts being moved through your shadow market nothing new a couple of ill-gotten weapons some jewelry likely lifted from a living thing but you said to listen for talk of glows and arms and strange sights right and i ain't heard nothing about that keep at it you done me a great service mister and i fully intend to repay my debt thrice fold if it pleases thank you thomas place to sleep and meal to eat is thanks enough don't you worry i'll get you sorted soon yeah you look out for those clothes and hams mate okay charles i mean let's look on this map is there anything to yeah this looks like there's things to do downstairs but i think those are the two conversations we can have unless there are others downstairs but i imagine that relates to those two guys yes it does we can speak to the bar lady bar person oh no that's the door that's the that's the way out no right let's start this next mission he's going down charles evening gentlemen charming oh peace charles he'll grow on you boy catherine you're fussing get back here daddy needs a drink how fair is the search maths and maps are not cutting it what are your local contacts we'll need to earn their trust before they'll share what they know i have an idea on how we might be affecting that there's a man who's taken to enslaving natives rescue them and they allow us do you know where they're being held right now benjamin churchwill he's a finder and a fixer he's also on your list and there i was wondering whom i might solicit next well done [Music] okay what about this list do we have it on us have we got some kind of inventory notification animus database no that there's no oh items here we go no i really want to read that list i mean it could be no it won't be with it that's a shame we got to see it for a split second in the cut scene but i don't know where it is hello christian welcome to the screen let's screen stream okay now we don't want to play any games okay so there's a slave a slaver that's capturing natives okay church residence so this house was built in 1707 by a prominent local merchant named robert calif benjamin church bought it from his heirs to use as a boston residence church's practice is on newbury street a fairly short walk away so the house was in an ideal location it's also in a nice part of town even in colonial boston two-story houses with fenced-in gardens don't come cheap and they didn't even get cable actually given the location it seems that church's practice was doing very well indeed that or he had another source of revenue thanks pontus that confirms my suspicions that we can't read the list okay the surgeon wonderful [Music] oh charles charles sir [Music] it didn't strike me as a man of blunt decision-making seems like we're not the only ones looking for mr church damn it he could be anywhere what do we do we find him come i'll show you how that's very crude as well hathan you're getting on quite well are you in charles so normally for weapons orange markers indicate caution these targets must not be killed okay now let's read about benjamin church the owner of this place so he was born in 1734 was a talented physician essentially the first surgeon general of the us army he's born in rhode island and graduated from harvard in 54 so you're meeting him here just out of college he'll he'll be appointed head of the medieval wing of the continental army in 1775. church goes on to become a vocal patriot which makes him sound like a member he was a member of the sun's liberty and his local committee of correspondence he'll even speak at the third anniversary of the boston massacre and he's got a house a nice part of town okay piggy what are you doing there piggy why are you roaming around the streets that biggie you want to be careful that piggy dry goods feed salt and other sundries available in bulk from robson the city's best prices guaranteed a bit like a herald okay so we're entering kind of an eavesdropping location this is very assassin's creed one isn't it not our business to middle even if we've the best of intentions but if you could have seen it they were surely drunk carrying on like that and during the day no less okay he's seeing me when the ssi fills with the yellow it means the target is suspicious once it's filled the meter becomes moved between two civilians to blend in now this is very assassin's creed 2. scandalous behavior from one who aims to be a surgeon not likely if he keeps up such harassing truly a shameful display benjamin's parents would be mortified perhaps i should send someone to retrieve him before he damages his reputation beyond repair they stumbled off to the northeast no doubt in search of a tavern or some other place of ill repute start questioning those on the street i'm headed for higher ground so your map of minneapolis revealed as you explore the environment climb to increase the rate of revelation okay climb the church and synchronize synchronized oh it's up there it's over there so what's that then that looks quite churchy doesn't it okay so we've got our first sink points now this is the the the kind of best thing about assassin's creed is being able to climb viewpoints and then that animation which is the same every time if there's 40 um sink points 40 towers or wherever if it does it for it never gets old just circling the pool circling the place to get a look at the locale i think i'm a bit early here and then that graceful jump into a haystack or something similar i mean can we do our first i'm assuming you can do leaps of faith wasn't anything to jump into a bit of hoeing going on what was he growing there peppers or tomatoes or something okay climb the church and synchronize what's going on here folk seem very animated new south meeting house another wooden church this time with a bell in the steeple samuel adam's father also named samuel adams was one of the founding members i'm surprised it wasn't all known for firewood during the siege it's conveniently named so you won't mistake it for the old south meeting house that we go assuming this is the right building right atop the spire we go i'm still pressing x no need like a whippy this is great i do love it it's it's such an improvement the climbing is such an improvement the animation the audio hello eagle reaching high advances points helps reveal the map and locate points of interest pest circle to synchronize there we go a bit of a turbo round oh it's a bit quicker but luck one of those people knows what became a benjamin right he's dropping more conversations so we've got let's have a look what's it so we've got to go to another one he's dropping more conversations to find church okay direction of haystack below to perform a leap of faith there we go that's uh i think i'll describe it in one of my critiques it's like a shark the leap of faith evolutionarily perfect and doesn't they don't develop it because they nailed it first time so let's go and ease dropping more conversations i did have some uh some optional objectives there but i don't know where they are if i do this does it tell me yes eavesdropped on a moving group of guards 100 success in all of these drops performed well that's motor through catch up this is lovely this is just beautiful okay let's not lose these guys so he says to charge but one way or another the debt would be settled i don't envy the man oh dear probably looking for a nice quiet place to do the deed from what i hear tell his work usually involves quite a bit of screaming which reminds me we best not buy any meat tomorrow good call that okay um because i was so concentrating on keeping up but i missed that so on about some aggressor and someone else in danger i missed that i have to say does that be like the church is in danger in some way from someone oh that was nice look at that i i felt we did that better before nice it's a lot more fluid isn't it all right he's dropping more conversations there's turkeys there's chickens there's all manner of stuff there the livestock in the center of the city like people with small holdings yeah they need to do that even in the city because refrigeration isn't a thing they can't store loads and loads of meat they need to have it on hand best way to store me is while it's still living hello boys right can i move through those guys easy for you to say you didn't just watch your friend die recall what happened as best you can there were three no four of them all of clearly ill repute they carried a fifth he was bruised and unconscious thomas the fool tried to offer aid so they cut his throat and then they moved on they said we're nothing which way did they go i i i don't know i was focused on trying to stop the bleeding come on now try and remember that way i think okay someone was injured i still don't quite get the gist of what's going on here i'm not gonna go that way just in case i'm rumbled i'm just gonna go this way looks like we can run around pretty readily ah thanks cyad pressing x while running overcomes obstacles instead of climbing on them yes that's good let's try one let's try one um let's try this one well i didn't do it then didn't do it then either oh we don't know right let's go and climb this point here before we go and listen to that next conversation yeah i'm not quite getting the gist of what's going on here so church is missing but they're all about people injured or killed or people's throat cuts so yeah i've lost the thread a little bit but we'll pick it up i'm sure don't wear the cross to me that's not as satisfying as as um circling what's this introduction the cast okay will you miles yes warren vidic daniel cross we'll get we've not heard of cross yet i think he's in one of the um anime graphic novels maybe we'll get to him later okay he's dropping more conversations where is that there we go boom so only works under their objects okay let's try here no didn't work there it's just it's i'm really loving the the city vibe there's just so much going on in more diverse sort of everyday life npc activity it's pretty great i wonder how much the remaster brought it on in terms of fidelity and help and they beauty me away insisted it was all under control how often did they say what had happened no only that it was a trifling matter and he'd be returned home soon there was some blood though so i wonder if it wasn't more serious than they let on where were they taking him towards the hilltop perhaps there's a doctor at the fort so they're taking someone injured up to the fall that's charles right remain undetected okay we did that the company leads the water on hello charles we'll have church in no time just as i said we would if i might ask sir where did you learn to do all this it is a requirement when you are raised in the manner that i was this is interesting so they're not privy to fundamental to the order it guides these skills and climbing informs the hands when striking and fighting but most importantly it transforms the senses and we begin to know the world in a different way well to have the senses you've got to um have an ancestry of the the ones that came before um which i think we all have in some degree in a greater degree there's some kind of dna but others are stronger than others some are stronger than others okay accompany lead to the waterfronts hello yeah we can get on with this now we don't we're not gonna get disturbed by soldiers at the moment so what do you think of the game so far one common complaint that people have about the early part is i suppose he drags out too much yeah i mean we are dragging out but there's a sense of mystery in the music in what's going on and i kind of think i've got an inkling of what's going on and i can't remember where i heard it maybe i remember it from playing the first little bit years ago or i've just come across it in researching but it's leading to something isn't it that's quite exciting even though it's quite slow you're getting a sense of oh dear you're getting a sense of the world and that's exciting boston is alive and it is slow that's for sure but it's not a problem for me at the moment i'm intrigued we've got a bit of variety we're in a royal opera we're on the boats and now we're getting them to understand this this mystery calling it the order people not knowing who we are we've got these skills careful the place is well guarded while targeting a high spot to tell your ex school to hide where is the hiding spot uh where is the hiding spot how do you target a hiding spot i've no idea all right we we're okay at the moment is that a hiding spot can you get in there in the privy no right this is a restricted area what what's he doing is he just waiting company leads to the waterfront okay let's try through here um follow follow come on yeah this music's really stirring isn't it enjoying it the company leads to the waterfront while we were at the waterfront were we not okay okay fort hill and safe battery fort hill is the second highest hill in boston if only it had tried harder and overlooked boston harbor defenses were built here in the mid 17th century along with a smaller one gun fortification fortification near the harbour named the safe battery south battery was expanded in the 40s but has fallen out of use by the 60s both it and fort hill were rebuilt by the patriots during the revolutionary war but both were dismantled before the turn of the century the south was leveled in the late 1860s to make room for more land so it never realized its dream become the highest hill in town hills are the natural enemies of bostonians and always will be so is boston quite flat the company leads the waterfront okay we can round the back remain undetected okay it looks like we're going to get away with it around this way i think it's just choosing there's no way to hide okay we did it we remained undetected i'll have to find the key wait here okay can we remain undetected how the bloody hell are we gonna get over there can we kill him and kill this guy as well no that didn't work um so we we can't kill this guy i think we might have a problem unless we can see that over here come on sir oh he's gone steal the key from the guard leader bloody hell's the guard leader so going into the bushes naturally let's go back and try again with this guy oh no he's in the water have we left it up let's try up here then oops can we can we steal still there we are good okay so we've got the key i've got some spam here away with you spam how do i remove this can we report it reporting it pauses pornography okay we've got the key but we failed the objective which is disappointing very disappointing why must you always make these things so decilis merely provide me with recommends and all shall be forgiven i'll not pay for protection i don't need clearly you do require protection else we wouldn't be here how very good now what shall we do about our guest maybe i'll take his hands put an end to his surgery i'll take his tongue put an end to his wagon or maybe i'll take his [ __ ] oh nintu is [ __ ] us so many options i can't possibly decide not the [ __ ] take all three now hold a moment perhaps i was hasty in refusing you earlier i'm so very sorry benjamin but that door has closed be reasonable stylist i rather think i was but you took advantage of my generosity i won't be made a fool a second time i fear i lack the constitution to bear witness to such barbarism come find me when you're finished cutter you'll retract this stylus do you hear me i'll have your head no i rather think you won't okay so he's being mutilated silas is left okay let's read about silas before while church gets carved up this was born in 1720 silas thatcher was the nephew of a well-to-do london merchant who purchased a commission for him in the british regulars when he was quite young he was sent to the colonies in 50 poor man where he was posted at the defenses along boston neck you won't be surprised to learn that thatcher had a mean streak few men wanted to serve under him which might be what led to him being posted in boston in the first place living in the colonies was regarded as something akin to exile at the time actually come to think of it not much has changed men who advanced under thatcher's command were noted for their cruelty like his personal assistant cutter which even you might have guessed is a nickname meaning one who likes to cut things at the time pay in the army was notoriously bad and soldiers would often pick up jobs in their spare hours to make ends meet in boston was high however thatcher found something he enjoyed much more demanding protection money from merchants in boston not only that but he doubled in theft fencing stolen goods and the slave trade a real renaissance man capturing the local indigenous people and selling them off to the highest bidder which is what he was doing when haytham found him i wasn't sure if you're going to be on the same page as me there but you did we're a team i was in the kidney mate i see you gone who who are you hatham kenway at your service i i don't understand why are you here walk with me mr church and all will be explained hello lewis how you doing mate good to see you on the stream okay we can replay that laser dates which i will so i tend to like to try and plan on these games but not in this play through okay i'm sorry sir do forgive me try and be more careful next time right we've got oh this is very valhalla isn't it i want to pick you up oh let me pick you up what have you gone did i miss it or did i get it the all map pages lost come back again to find it later okay we missed our window yes you do that in valhalla with um with tattoo designs don't you it was a call back to a previous previous game so jonathan so excited for this play through i personally became a bit frustrated by the game halfway through because in my opinion it does a poor java explaining some of its systems but it ended up being one of my fav acs yeah we're going through a quite long drawn out just kind of tutorial affair but it is story driven so that's good johnson's told me what you intend as it happens the man who held me is the same one you seek his name is silas thatcher that fancy lad is our slaver don't let his velvet tongue deceive you a crueler and more vicious creature i've never known what can you tell me of his operation he hosts at least a hundred men more than half of whom are redcoats all this for some slaves hardly the man's a commander in the king's troop in charge of the southgate fort we need to find a way inside hmm let me think on it in the meantime i'll attend to our final recruit john pitt turns our man i'll take you to him john pitcairn oh just be patient or go round you red coats you are causing quite this quite the discontent in the area please just try and some sense of decorum please gentlemen we are very far from her majesty but please manage costs nothing okay the soldier start mission i'm just worried that we're not doing things i mean we could we could do various viewpoints we've got plenty of viewpoints we've got this almanac that's nice the eel opens its wings if we've done it there's the shop there's not bundles to do yet but we've kind of been sent around town we're not asked to to move across various areas but i think i might just set this off before if that's all right with you charles i mean i don't want to alert cops hill battery i won't alert any guards so it's one of the tallest hills in boston and the highest point in boston's north end the hills were fortified during the siege of boston partly just discouraged rebels from building their own fortifications across the river on charlestown peninsula the artillery on cops hill fired on the continental army during the battle of bunker hill while sort of is actually a bit more a distraction than destruction at least in the breed's hill fortifications the artillery fire on the town of charleston was more effective the resulting fires forced out continental army snipers and leveled the tone cops hill battery let's have a little better look at this just coming up the king's crown cops hill battery so this is this constitutes a hill i see yeah we'll come back to charles but i just want to have a prance around being led from mission to mission without christ church this is known today as the old north church because it's the oldest church in the north end of boston 1776 it would have been known as christ church named after jesus christ this is where on the night of paul revere's ride two signal lanterns appeared to warn rebels on the opposite shore that the british regulars were on their way to seize weapons the signal was paul revere's idea but contrary to popular belief the lamps weren't a signal sent to revere they were meant to warn lookouts on the opposite shore in case revere was captured this church was a natural choice for a signal flame it was the highest steeple in boston and easily seen from the other side of the river even better the church was anglican the congregation was full of wealthy loyalists who would suspect the church sexton robert newman a friend of reveres of sneaking to the church at night to send secret messages while the british would actually they captured newman a few days later and questioned him he put on a terrific show and managed to convince him he was innocent and then fled town okay they really don't need to worry about doing side stuff right now early game is pretty story focused yeah i got the sense from that map there wasn't much going on bit of the almanac that we could try and focus on but yes let's do it women nearby someone wants to know what we're up to hopefully they will ignore us the further we get up to whanau look at this that is lush it's a bit of a fog a morning fog but we're in boston baby pontius this is interesting i hate to be the bearer of bad news but the ambient music playing is a bug it's only meant to play when you're syncing a viewpoint you can quickly exit to the main menu and go back in to make it stop i don't want to do i i think it's lush i think it's lush so it's leading me down a mysterious path we shouldn't be shouldn't be going that's interesting thanks pontius so we just got that that build-up music the whole time i love it i don't know what we're missing this is very cool hello charles sorry mate i had to climb a building the soldier sequence 2 state your business new recruit more kindling for the pirate eh we'll go on then thank you redcut how'd you manage that did you forget sir john pitcairn okay 54 captain british army marine fought in the french indian war but i can't find much about his postings he's listed as being on the hms lancaster during the capture of louisburg that's in canada the record of him being on the american side of the colonies but it seems he did some covert work as well i'll explain the lack of details pitcairn was promoted to major in 71 and he gained a reputation for being well liked by subordinates and praised by his enemies that's a difficult trick to pull off pit can my commission is with general bradley when i'm not attending to you of course general braddock who's this braddock fella he's on his way apparently okay so they've got cannons pointed outwards for an impending attack we're amongst the brits we're pretending to be a new recruit so why is charles lee got access give me one good reason i shouldn't kill you right now this is this braddock fellow were you planning to announce yourself or did you hope my men wouldn't notice you're alive you'll allow me to explain oh by all means i should like very much to hear this i have not deserted sir i am here under commander amherst's orders show me a letter bearing his seal and you might be spared the gallows i have no such thing the nature of my works uh it's it's the sort of thing best not put to paper hey them general braddock i suppose i shouldn't be surprised wolves often travel in packs master pitcairn won't be here for about a few weeks i shall return him to his proper post once our work is finished hmm the devil's work no doubt it's bad enough my superiors have insisted i grant you use of charles but they said nothing about this traitor you'll not have him edward listen to reason we're done here see these gentlemen out well that didn't go as i expected and to think i used to call him brother what now they'll chase us off if we try and return we're done with this camp and as luck would have it so are they come along what are you planning to steal master pit cam what stealing him okay let's read about product edward bulldog braddock was the major general placed in charge of british troops at the beginning of the french and indian war probably because he had a nickname like bulldog braddock was serving as the acting governor of gibraltar when he received the command in north america he was given control of two regiments of regulars and assigned to win back fort du que du quezna from the french known as the braddock expedition as part of a larger attack on the french colonies braddocks had been well liked as the governor of gibraltar but things changed once he reached north america he had been known for keeping strict order among his troops but it seems his quick temper attempted a cruel he also displayed a contempt for non-british soldiers that alienated the colonial militia he was trying to recruit so a cruel racist bulldog then braddock took a bullet to the chest during 55 rumor has it he was one of his own soldiers which is a job hazard when you're nasty to the people around you you'll see now when i give the signal you go to distract braddock's patrol and lure them into a dead end tail braddock's patrol okay should we take it on high i think uh charles fancies it duquesne thank you jonathan its residents are too content homes are yes those fresh arrived are often soon in dire strength they're more likely to seize upon an opportunity to fatten their purses and feed their young oops yeah i think i will go in that main menu because that it's starting to um invade the the main missions and i think we could enjoy other arrangements so i will go and try and reset this bug starting to to notice it now you've said it it's nice how you start to look around corners when you get close now what it's invading the cutscenes isn't it your thieves and scoundrels one and all the tunic of these british soldiers he's done his job he's follow these the ambush on patrol oh i'm handsome edward ah you again let us go and john petkan with us i will not have my authority challenged nor i put them all in chains right oh oh okay [Music] i'm gonna pick you up that's nice i i quite like to pick up the uh the musket and uh have a good fight that's all of you prevent snitches from calling reinforcements oh goodness okay i don't know how i was going to do that i'm losing as much as i can here okay braddock i stay my hand today because you were once my brother and a better man than this or should our path ever cross again all debts will be forgotten you're free now john traitor go on then join them on their fool's errand and when you find yourself lying i assume you've good reason for causing all this madness what is it you require of me i'll explain everything on the way okay now i'm assuming let's look here can we save and come out um leave the current session all unsafe progress will be lost i think it's saved um yeah i'm gonna assume that we've saved at that point yeah as you want you want to hope it was automatically saving as every other game was done but i've played a few games lately that uh aren't so hot on it okay i mean what's it asking us to do now hatham has been sent to the american house to recruit allies oh have we got to do this bit again slightly confused no thank god i thought was telling us to get on the horse okay uh where is that right i want to get it oh where is it where is it how do we get it have i missed it i don't want to don't die you see okay they don't like us getting on the houses so i'm going to run away i'm being followed and i've got this curious sign here that's nice that's nice oh goodness i've already caused a kerfuffle okay well that's that's dealt with it yeah those um almanacs are really causing me problems really causing me problems there's a route that you need to take do you get it at the end of the route can you gonna get it midway or you've got to follow it to where it goes okay we've got some games but our posse is upstairs yeah it must be really oh yeah we'll talk about it when it when certain revelations happen but i'm confused as to how it is going to be revealed i'm pretty sure what's going on [Music] but i need to need to know okay johnson what have you discovered sir business with silas confuses me if britain stands any chance of pushing back the french they must ally with the natives not enslave them silas is loyal only to his purse that his actions harm the crown is irrelevant so long as there are buyers for his product he'll continue to procure it all the more reason to stop him then my days are spent in congress with the locals attempting to convince them that we're the ones they should trust that the french are merely using them as tools to be abandoned once they've won your words must lose their strength when held against the reality of silence actions i've tried to explain that he does not represent us but he wears the red coat he commands a fort i must appear to them either a liar or a fool likely both take heart brother when we deliver them his head they'll know your words were true okay let's speak to do this guy that's church so a question for you why medicine i'm supposed to tell you i care for my fellow man right that i chose this path because it allows me to accomplish the greater good cryptic are these things not true perhaps but that's not what guided me now for me it was a less abstract thing i like money they don't sound like assassins today there are paths to fortune what better where to peddle than life nothing else is as precious more so desperately craved and no price is too great for the man or woman who fears an abrupt permanent end your words are cruel benjamin but true as well it doesn't share these senses to help people did you not i abide the oath which makes no mention of price i merely require compensation fair compensation for my services and if they lack the required funds then there are others who will serve them does a baker grant free bread to a beggar does the tailor offer a dress to the woman who cannot afford to pay no why should i you said it yourself nothing is more precious than life indeed all the more reason one should ensure they have the means to preserve it i mean benjamin church's take on life is basically a capitalist society now like healthcare in most countries isn't free and if you can't afford it you can't get access to decent healthcare so uh he's kind of talking and he's he's talking reality our reality anyway if i may i was curious about your past with braddock you too clearly have a history edward was one of us upon a time i considered him a close friend he was brave and bold in ways few men are but everything changed at the siege of bergen op zoom we had lost the fortress to the french and we're in the midst of egress there was a skiff hidden at the port with which we planned to make our escape as we drew near a young man and his family came upon us begging for safe passage i consented but edward refused the young man called him craven then so what would killed him and all the rest well even the children this is this day i don't know why this is braddock he's talking about was this the first time he'd struck out or had i simply never seen it before either way things were never the same after that we campaigned together a few more times but each outing was more disturbing than the last he killed and killed enemy or ally civilian or soldier guilty or innocent it mattered not if he perceived one to be an obstacle they died he maintained that violence was a more efficient solution it became his mantra and it broke my heart once brothers revealed himself he hides it well and intimidates him to silence any who discover him those who persist have a tendency to find misfortune and we should stop him i suppose you're right but i maintain a foolish hope that he might yet be saved and brought back round to reason i know i know it's a silly thing to believe that one so drenched in death might suddenly change i'm sorry to have brought us up it was not my intent to say you nonsense we are brothers now there should be no secrets between us okay so we're assembling this small team of allies that are going to help us find access to the precursor sites we've got uh this guy i don't think we can talk to at the moment yes we can when i know something you'll know something well you haven't bloody moved mate you were staring at that mug and treating me like a mug just get off your [ __ ] ass and go do some bloody work mate go and get some intel infiltrating southgate gentlemen i believe i found the solution to our problem or rather odysseus has oh do you are you a new guy the greek hero you love [ __ ] allow me to explain [ __ ] we enter silas fort under the pretext of kinship what's inside we spring our trap free the captives and kill the slaver dodgy dodgy i like it then let us begin first we need to find ourselves a convoy okay we've got a bit of uh mute deletedly music here okay so this is the plan convoy should be here soon we'll attack on my signal understood sir if we time this right we can catch them all unawares scratch your head boys right press to pick up weapon okay now target's killed do we do do we strike now attack the convoy well that missed right you know what i'm just going to get down there i'm just going to get down there because i'm going to get got otherwise come on come on come on come on come on come on come on [ __ ] one right come on let's go that's nice oh so they've got the assassin sign above them so we're definitely assassins we're definitely assassins he's cryptic charles you and william serve as vanguard let no man reach us what about me you and john will follow from a distance and keep watch over us i'll signal you when i have need of your services we're here to help you along with those held inside southgate fort freemie not until we're inside the gate i can't chance an inspection of the gate going wrong i'll see you safe you have my word do you know anything of silas operation how many men we might expect i'm just going to read about the french indian war because that is interesting this is one of the many wars in the long-standing british v french rivalry this particular war being over who could come out as the biggest colonial power of course it wasn't enough that the british and french fight one another they convinced a number of north american indigenous nations to join the conflict as well hence the name french and indian war the war started in the colonies but it spread to europe where it was known as the seven years war before you pointed out yes i know the dates congrats started in 54 but declared until 56. george washington has the honor of start excuse me starting the actual fighting under orders of course he was sent to create a fort in a disputed territory this is what i've just been reading about in this biography uh while he was doing that he crossed paths with a french patrol washington attacks the french retaliated the british followed up by sending two full regiments of regulars to fight and so it began the british fought a losing battle until about 58 when they got a new prime minister who decided funding the war effort was a priority possibly because of the whole french thing maybe he ate oh god i did support the british along with their indigenous allies and the colonial militia began to gain ground slowly but surely eventually the french were driven out of almost all their territory north of the caribbean something we were in britain celebrate with a special holiday called so the british won but they were left with huge war debts they tried to pay these off with taxes levied from the colonists they defended from the french who would have them all eating onions and saying we say before you knew it thanks sean the colonists objected leading up to a series of protests which were part of the unrest that led to the american revolution talk about gratitude okay yeah i've already read about that it's about old george he was uh the nature of their defenses he wasn't so successful in his early military career important to him if you were given your own escort sir leave enemies ahead shall i engage them no but jonathan and thomas take care of it as you wish i wish you'd trust us although i suppose it's only natural for you to be wary so be it he's chatting her up isn't he he's lost his reigns the reigns have bugged out okay so we're entering the fort we've taken the close of the redcoats we've got the uh the slave trade wagon we're going to go in there we're going to get amongst this silas thatcher free the slaves and then that's that i've forgotten why we're doing this i've forgotten the overarching thing press l1 to launch the attack before being discovered so will remind me of the overarching thing let's have a look um [Music] hyphens right there kill messengers just free those held captive was it trying to find news from the the natives he just got the dog why'd you get the dog that was upsetting only say the word and i'll cut them down and you who's your officer engage the enemies well done folk what a team we've assembled all clear we're doing some good work here defeating the nasty british the evil uh thatcher and uh seeing off some slave traders oh evening gentlemen state your business delivery for silas go on then we're in see i'm freeing you just as i said i would now if you'll allow me to explain let it go because you plan no she won't what's the plan free the captives and avoid detection what of silas [Music] he dies he dies he must die ignore when you're ready to strike okay through the capsule sits find and kill the general perform stealth assassinations from a corner spot hello brian welcome to the stream we have to be silent we need to be stealthy we're to it we're to try and assassinate from corners oh well done right i'm gonna take it through the bushes thomas smith newly recruited arrived from london just last week and you're too patrol with us so said silas i assume it's all rather straightforward free the captain's undetected excuse me i don't know if that constituted um a corner so these are the captives away they go and there's another one over there how are we going to get there without being detected i do not know um can i go across is anyone looking i assume it's quiet here most days uh on occasion i think we can i think we can move across without being seen okay i'm gonna use this bit of cover oh dear nope get down oh dear let's get in the bushes oh dear you can whistle to attack guards to the corners okay i'm trying to find a decent corner can i whistle them to over here let's try against this tent see what happens oh dear no i don't we're gonna get this one right what's wrong with these guys why can't we free those guys only the captains will detect you thank you jonathan okay howard denotes the captain on the minimap though um i'm going to try and go around this way do you think we'll get noticed here no oh there's a captain yeah you're right we can we can get amongst the the hoi paloy very easy oops okay let's try this then [Music] come to me my special captain friend i'm gonna get you it's the last thing i do now can we leave him there looks like we can no one seems to be interested right i'm going to not go up yet so i'm going to scale along i just wanted to come along like this [Music] yeah we've failed the objective that's for sure okay now what an hour of quiet was all i asked instead i'm awakened out ten minutes later by this cacophonous madness i expect an explanation and it had best be good how how did this happen my precious merchandise set free it's unacceptable rest assured i'll have the heads of those responsible but first first we clean up this mess seal the fort kill any who try to escape i don't care if they be one of us or one of them to approach the gate is to be made a corpse am i understood he's very angry he's lost his revenue stream he was moonlighting avoid the firing line damage oh how do we do that uh human shield that's very cool nice that's one for you mate paul didn't need to do that these animations are pretty damn special right let's head okay uh um um um i want to avoid this how to do it again no i've got i've just done all of failed all them them that's pretty tough isn't it um that's nice little defense there right how do i human shield human shields human shield human shields oh no right which way do i go which way do we go down here what's going on what's going on i could use some help i saw this going down my son oh that was lovely that was a lovely little turn who are you name's haytham kenway you don't know me but i believe the two of you are well acquainted i made a promise to you silas one i intend to keep man of his word yeah it was very tough to keep those things i reckon i could have a good stab at the um the corner assassinations now i know about the captains and finding the right place but that shield wait [Music] but not for very long i suspect he's got his eye on that lady isn't he infiltrating southgate so i can't replay it of course he can because uh yeah we've just won a game of naughts and crosses there sequence to complete it's been several weeks now since we freed the mohawk prisoners from captivity i had hoped their leader might make contact but there's been only silence my men grow restless they want to know what comes next and i do not have an answer lee alone remains active pursuing leads however slight he stalks the city's streets and scouts the bordering woods hopeful that he might make contact with one of those we saved there was a woman it was she who helped the others to safety if we can find her i believe i'll have my answers so i watch and wait hopeful that my true mission might finally begin there we go so they were they were doing it to carry favor with the the natives by releasing some of their number and maybe get a reputation or in wintertime um amongst their people and um you know get some to earn some information from them about the location of the preak i love this word precursor precursor locations kill streets allows you to get instant kills right should we give this this thing another go where is it it's there right where are you going you're going up here sorry about the alarm that someone in trouble where are you you're over here oh come on i'm going to lose it again it's lost come back later third time third time i've lost it so i've just got to know where it goes i guess i'm easy to head over there okay what else can we do in this town yeah there is just is the almanac at the moment isn't it we'll get one eventually i'm sure that's real benjamin franklin okay so it's we've moved on a season or two charles lee has been scouting trying to find these people that we freed so he might have a lead hello charles any luck finding a mystery woman word is she's been stirring up trouble just outside the city in a town called lexington well then that's what we begin our search i'll meet you there who's been stirring up trouble this this this native american lady she had a she had a a a beautiful indian name but bugger me if i could pronounce it right we'll continue with this mission but this might be the last for this session and we'll um reconvene some point next week but i am thoroughly enjoying this new world beautiful detailed lovely city i love the the lighting i love the the era liking the mechanics liking the animation confused about the story thus far because i do know that we are we don't stay this character for forever um an inkling of the outcome but buggers how it's transpired because he seems a good bloke a real good bloke but some of the people who he consults with especially church seem not to be very assassin like to me so we'll see how that transpires and unfolds because i was pretty sure of this little early twist which i've uh been spoiled about but now i'm not so sure can i pet this mangy little cat look at the breath coming out of him oh hello hello rabid cat okay where are we going here very low very low we're going all the way up down here and we can fast travel but let's um [Music] let's not fast travel let's go and head down here 300 meters away and just soak up the atmosphere it's winter time and it's lush so yeah check them out while chasing them see where they go i was trying to that's good orphans will attract attention and slow your movement give them a few coins to continue 200 meters away yeah it's very long and drawn out this isn't it and it is slow but i don't dislike it i'm intrigued and fascinated by the world undertakers counts on them to provide the full range of peaceful dignified services for your dearly departed so basically a herald paid probably to propagate commercial endeavors and she's pissed look at the size she's got a magnum that's a magnum that is that is a huge bottle she is enjoying ourselves it's early doors as well it's morning time i think you may have a problem my dear okay passing a bakery [Music] hello folks i'm trying to see some sort of interesting behavior going on but it's sort of just gesticulating and what can we do with this can we do anything with this can we lower the british flag in some time back to can we go through here we can that's nice i don't know if we could have stayed in there and a little look around i don't think so i think that's just some kind of uh evasion tactic let's just go and deal with this guy here have actually got if you got on you 13 13 english pounds oh i've missed i've missed it where is it it's over here 100 100 meters away i got very excited by oh that's nice very excited by all these little passageways and things so i did that in front of these soldiers but they're not bothered right let's climb you and see what goodies you display i think not much of the moments we are very story based as you mentioned someone mentioned climbs to kenway uh synchronize yeah i prefer it when it's it's slow so you can see the environment more this kind of spins around there's a farmland over there with a bit of a silo in the background and another fort um yeah we haven't got any sort of locations but let's go and unlock this one down here too much fast traveling i want to see what what we see adam's tavern so these orphans so we can we can give them coins um throw how do we throw no throw money ah and she that's interesting unsheathing the sword in the previous games that that sort of told them he was boss and they'd run away but the orphans aren't so so keen morning level one sir morning a loved one oh we could we could go through there so ms the world doesn't really open up to halfway through what do you mean halfway through halfway through the game so we're four hours in i know we've been taking it slow and steady and um discussing things and sort of trying to get every optional conversation in us but that's quite a lot of time before an open world opens up just completed horizon forbidden completed it was started horizon forbidden west and that took about two and a half hours to um open up into the to the open world and that felt a long time so we are on rails at the moment okay let's head over here is this going to be restricted no not halfway but for a bit afraid it's true there's there's debate i think the consensus is it's a bloody long time in america well let's see if we can get this uh this little section of the mission done at least are these slavers they've got no shoes on are you sure you want to travel to the frontier go on then yeah let's set let's go for a little while longer lucy an ac3 really double down on immersive details mannerisms and movement level the fluid parkour and volts that you do yeah parkour feels really nice the climbing feels so fluid and less weight to it and oh i didn't mean to throw that amount through some money at the hooves of that horse as if i was purchasing its services that's no okay so where are we going here so we we we called it the i can't remember what it called it the frontier okay we're going a fair old way away sprinting on a horse okay folks we've made a little rash decision here i've got to um chip off very shortly i don't want to rush this section i want to i want to take my time and um not rush it so i don't want to feel like i'm going into this mission trying to complete it quickly um so i'm going to call it a day there sorry if you i wasted your time with a few sync points at the end of that uh with the promise of heading to another mission but um it's always hard to tell how long these things take but i've thoroughly enjoyed it i really have i've really i'm digging it and vibing it i'm i'm in and there's a mystery to it that i'm so intrigued to know more about i've got a strong inkling of what's going to happen but um because i've had a tip off but i'm not i'm not completely sure anymore what i thought i knew doesn't seem to be transpiring so um yeah i look forward to uncovering these little little revelations as we go um monday i think i'm gonna come back and do this and then on tuesday we'll continue with horizon forbidden west um i won't be playing aldon ring but anyone who is i hope you're enjoying it um have a wonderful evening and i'll see you after the weekend take care thanks um you
