in this section of the video we're going to go over what we consider to be open curved radius installation of ledge stone coping this means radiuses of six feet and above this is the technique that we're going to use and what we often refer to as a high-low we're gapping the individual base units and we're maximizing the amount of distance between them to incorporate the overlay piece so on that tape measure we use a 22 inch therefore the 24 inch piece that fits over it I have a slight overhang in this diagram you can see that we're measuring the center point so that we can maintain a smooth curve on the finished product you want to make sure that your overhangs are adjusted properly with both front and back in line to where you want to place that coping unit this is a nine-inch quarry stone wall we have like inch and a half overhang at the point of cuts one advantage the ledge stone will carry with it is that it's a unit that can be cut on top of the finished wall the individual weights of the unit will prevent it from vibrating and moving and this instance I'm socketing the top unit in place but in doing so with a 14 inch cut-off saw I'm also marking the bottom unit this is a representation of what not to do if possible often times with a cut-off saw you'll score your top line you'll cut backside and you'll move the saw blade to the front edge cut front side and then pull the center out oftentimes you can see in this instance that I left a chip in the finished face you'll notice in this instance our 14-inch cut-off saw could only cut five inches through on the material which is fine we're going to cut the remainder of the material off the lower course by just using our shim cut off pieces on the previous cut and cutting right there in place on the wall to avoid any chipping either on the front rock face or on the back rock face you have the ability to run your saw blade through both the backside of the material first and then the front side of the material then draw the saw back to you draw the saw back to you and finish the cut off in the middle at this point in time we will place the finished top cut and this will give us the smooth as ready as possible wood ledge stone and now you're ready to move on to the finished installation portion of the video
