new generation of young people to take this good news to the ends of the earth and spent his life joyfully following the savior tonight we return to the auditorium for the timeless good news of the rainbow he says that's his promise [Music] and he has brought that promise to fulfillment in this place and and we hope and pray that not only will that mean something for you personally and as you return but it will mean something more for his kingdom to come forth again for new england so pray that prayer it's my privilege now to introduce two people that i've gotten to know one more recently but one for a very long time almost as long as i've been in atlanta and that's dr michael youssef he's my pastor and [Music] i can truly say he has such a passion and a heart for christ that when we talked about coming here to the moody center and his desire to want to bring the gospel to many places in north america he agreed to do that and i think his passion and heart has revealed that already to the pastors that he met with earlier today well tonight he will be here to challenge you in everything that he's about and doing now the other fine gentleman who's right behind me now that i want to introduce is mack powell and his accompanist seth [Music] told you obviously many of you already know i think i said it earlier mack was born singing out of the womb he was so young when he started third day and and he did that for 30 years and in the process he received four grammy awards 24 dove and the american music award he's also been inducted to the georgia hall of fame [Music] and he will be looking forward to sharing with you some great worship music and maybe even he'll sing one of his i think he's going to sing his most recent release river of life that's in the top 15 already and in the south it's like that's the thing you're supposed to go to church right and it's not necessarily that way up here up here when you go to church and you're a believer and you claim the name of jesus you mean it and it's from the heart and i appreciate that about y'all so tonight we're gonna some of you may know me as as woody was saying from my band that i was in for a long time i was in a band called third day for a number of years and uh some of you just went oh that's who mack powell is okay we're gonna do uh we're gonna do an old school third day song for you guys but first i wanted to say that when seth and i found out that we were going to get to play at the dl moody center not only were we honored to be invited to be part of this night with our pastor dr youssef and so many great people here that are putting the event together but we also said that's a great chance for us to be at the dl moody center a great chance for us to have a dl moody beard contest [Music] so that needs to be extended up here because i mean every single person that i met today has been so lovely and it's just been so welcoming thank you all so much for welcoming us a couple southern guys in new england all right man we're coming back we're going to be up here more often y'all we're coming back i grew up in a little bitty church in alabama and uh it was real it was much much i mean it was small it's like let's see this section let me see this section y'all wave your hand right here that's how little the church was that i grew up in uh in this and i grew up in this little town called clanton alabama's right in the middle of the state and if you took a a map of the state of alabama you threw a dart at it which many of you've probably done before and and it gets right in the middle that's where i'm from i grew up in this little church mama dragged me to church every sunday i didn't want to go and i got an amen from somebody [Music] so thank thankful for the mamas dragging us to church when we were little amen [Music] but i grew up singing this song at the time i had no idea the power and the impact that this song would have on my life and i i grew up singing hymns i didn't know anything about christian music i just hymns and maybe a little bit of southern gospel to me that's what christian music was and so when i was a little kid i didn't appreciate it i didn't understand it that much but now as an adult and many years later i'm so thankful for those hymns i i don't get me wrong i love modern worship i write modern worship songs i sing modern worship but we share with you the word of god in the tradition of dl moody i want to share the gospel with you tonight and you know mac mentioned the people watching all over the 17 outlets but there's a special group of people that i want you in a moment to just welcome uh in 2004 i was preaching in the middle east and god laid it on my heart to have a channel that is absolutely dedicated 24 7 to the proclamation of the gospel but because i've kind of stubborn headed it took me five years so we launched that channel called kingdom set in o nine and we've been on the air now since then we were a group of us who were in cairo in that 2019 celebrated 10th anniversary was a huge celebration god really is blessing and now kingdom sat malaccot in arabic is in 200 million homes in the middle east and north africa [Music] it's after 12 midnight and so many of them are watching live right now welcome them [Music] father i pray that the words of my lips and the thoughts and the meditation of all of our hearts be ordered by you and therefore it will be acceptable by you for we pray this in jesus name amen you know i am told that a smart lawyer must never ask a question in court that he does not know the answer ahead of time and in the bible you find god asking questions questions some very important questions that throughout the scripture in every case in every one of those questions god knew the answer of course but he asked it anyway why because god wants to communicate with us human by asking question and order that he may force us to confront reality we by nature are fallen nature does not like reality but god wants us to confront reality he wants us to arrive at the truth and today i want to show you from the scripture some of the most important question of all times some of the most important questions that you and i must ask ourselves some of the most important questions they ever been asked but there is one overriding overarching absolutely the most important question that everyone every human being on the face of the earth must answer and it's found in mark chapter 8 verses 36 and 37. and jesus asked this most important question what good is it for a man or a woman to gain the whole world and forfeit their own soul or what can anyone give in exchange of his or her soul this is the most important question that anyone young or old anyone anywhere must respond to that is the most important question our lord jesus has asked he has asked many questions i'm going to show you some of them but this is the most important one and guess what only jesus only jesus the christ could ask that question a pastor cannot ask that question a priest cannot ask that question a bishop cannot ask that question a pope cannot ask that question why why only jesus could ask this question because jesus alone knows the value of the world the value of the creation of the planet earth he created it he alone knows every diamond mine and where it's located he alone knows where every nugget of gold is to be found he alone knows how many tons of silvers were created back in genesis he alone knows the value of rubies and sapphire he alone knows where the last drop of oil is to be located he alone knows where the last undiscovered treasure is and he knows all of that and that is why he alone can stack up all of the wealth of the world all of the treasures of the world all of the money of the world all of the riches of the world all of the wealth of the world and you place him all in one side of the scale and then he places your soul on the other side of the scale and then he says only a wise person would refuse to trade his or her soul for all of that even for all of the riches of the world your soul is the most treasured possession what good is it for anyone to gain the whole world and then forfeit his own soul but that's not all christ alone can ask that question of every human being on the face of the earth of all the seven billion plus people he's the only one who could ask that question to every human being after all he created us christ alone knows the value of our soul to him the human soul is so significant is so important that he left the splendor of heaven and the glories of heaven because the value of your soul and the value of every created soul he created and placed on the earth and because of that he he never surrendered his divinity as some people would have us believe he only surrendered the splendor of his divinity the glory of his divinity but he came lived a homeless life a poor life he was sweating blood in gethsemane he was beaten until his flesh was black and blue he was slapped until his body was torn there spat upon him and they mocked him it is because of the value of your soul that the god of glory did all of this because the god of power and might to hang helplessly on the roman clock cross and then glory to god he rose again on the third day because of your soul but the question that i have been asked to wherever i traveled in the world i've been around the world over 66 times and people would ask me why why especially when i'm with non-christians why would god leave heaven come to earth for us humans why didn't just god yell from heaven and says try to be good y'all like to do in the south try to reach me the best way you know how try to be as good as you can try to please me try to do more good than bad you see that's how people think but you have to see things from god's perspective we have to see things from god's perspective not from the humanistic answer a question what is god's point of view listen carefully please god is perfect and therefore only perfect people can reach god now this is a big problem here we got a big problem none of us are perfect none of us can become perfect we got a dilemma on our hands astronauts when they go to space they have to wear astronaut suit they have to wear a space suit otherwise they are toast in the same way only perfect people can make it to heaven otherwise we're toast and because none of us are perfect none of us can ever be perfect and so we are toast right but god provided the answer god provided the solution god provided salvation the perfect god became man and lived the perfect life sinless life sadly today 70 percent of so-called evangelicals according to george barna said jesus sinned it's a travesty of the times we're living in that is why we need our light to shine brighter than ever before so the perfect god came to earth become a man live the perfect life so that everyone who accept him and accept him as lord and savior he can place on that space suit the perfect god carried on the cross the sin of everyone everyone everyone who would come to him in humility confessing and repenting and receiving his salvation and so we become perfect in god's eyes do you know that god looks at you and looks at me through the prism of your believer in jesus he looks at you through the prism of jesus and he sees you perfect now my dear dear friends in new england thank you for having me but i want to tell you this is the christian faith in a nutshell and don't let me don't let them tell you anything else not all that religious stuff no jesus and jesus alone there there is no name under heaven by which man can be saved other than by the name of jesus the core of the christian faith says that you can change your sin for his perfection that you can exchange your sin for his forgiveness that you can exchange your guilt for his peace that you can exchange your restlessness for his contentment that you can exchange your fear with his faith that you can exchange your doubt with his assurance that you can exchange your destination from hell to heaven let me tell you this is the best deal there is i grew up in the middle east and we bargained for everything i know a good deal when i see one this is the best deal this is the best deal but you also must understand this is not pie in the sky in the by and by this is not what karl marx called the religion being the opium of the people no no no no no this is supposed is not supposed to make us surrender our minds and therefore become zombies like some people think that is not someone trying to get you to belong to a denomination or to a certain church or a christian institution no this is the testimony of millions of people around the world i have sat and some people in this room sat with me in different parts of the world when we met people who converted to christ they literally signed their death warrant and not just by the by the authorities but by their own family and the joy of the lord on their faces saying now that i know my redeemer lives if i die i go with jesus these are the everyone who had discovered the peace and joy and purpose in life which came when they came to that exchange what good is it for anyone to gain the whole world and forfeit their own soul this is the most important question my friend which must haunt everyone must haunt everyone those who are watching around the world and you here in this beautiful moody center it must haunt you until you satisfactory answer it why because god loves you and because he loves you he has provided only one way to himself this is not for those of you old enough you remember forrest gump and the life is a full box of chocolate and lots of choices no there is no choice god said because i love you i provided only one way to be a for you to be accepted by me only one way for peace of mind only one way to have assurance of heaven the moment you close your eyes and death you will be with him for all of eternity now if you're like me you have heard these false statements i used to belong to one of the mainland denominations and god delivered me 30 years ago and i hear those false statements and it's repeated again and again and again and again from well meaning people and what is that always lead to god always a heading toward god all roads will lead to heaven or living by the golden rule is going to get you there doing more good than bad will get you there now if there's a big problem with that they're all false they're all false i don't care what the statistics said i don't care how many preachers have departed from the faith my heart aches for them because i cannot imagine what is awaiting them on the other side but as for you as for you as for you you need to know there is only one way god because he loved you he said there is only one way to me and that's through my son jesus the christ there's only one plan for salvation there's only one savior 20 percent of christians in america have christian worldview i don't know about you but when i'm alone i weep they bought into the lie they brought into this tragedy i said earlier the bible asks so many important questions and bible try to confront us with reality god wants us to come to the truth ourselves and that is why he asked these questions in fact in genesis 3 9 in the book of genesis first book in the bible in case you don't know god asked the very first question the very first question in the whole of the bible to our human first human ancestor he asked adam where are you after disobeying god adam thought that he could hide from god but here's an important thing god did not scold him god did not ambush him he could have done that god didn't even condemn him he said to him where are you where are you you could have said you fool did not tell you you stupid man no no no no no no no god doesn't do that don't you know that i can see everything don't you know that i know everything how can you think you can hide from me that tears me up because in the 56 years that i've been walking with jesus he's been patient with me this is the character of our god this is the character of god he just asked him where are you not because god did not know where adam was when god asking someone here today who's listening to me god is asking someone here today someone is god is asking someone here today i believe that with every ounce of my being he is saying where are you where do you stand toward me not because god doesn't know where you are but because god wants you to come to your confession god wants adam to confess and ask for forgiveness but he didn't instead adam rationalized his sin and he played the blame game god wanted adam to say oh yes lord i have allowed satan to seduce me and disobey you forgive me yes lord i have allowed false ideas about you to mislead me yes lord i've allowed more false philosophies to keep me from you yes lord i've allowed my own desires and my own selfishness and my also wanting to self-worship that clouded my vision of who you are and i'm sorry and not repent god was wanting adam to say that but he didn't god is asking someone here today where do you stand where are you what is causing you to think that you can run away from me what is keeping you from my heaven what is holding you back from experiencing my comfort and my joy and my peace what is stopping you from knowing me as a loving heavenly father what is your rationalization of running away from me where are you today where are you today god knows but he's asking the question and if you have never come to christ or if you have known him for many years and you wandered off and the problems of this world has got into you doubt has crept in you can say tonight i come back home he's inviting you to come confess him he's inviting you to come to receive the gift of forgiveness and eternal life will you respond i pray to god you say yes the second question that was asked is in the book of genesis also found in chapter four verse nine after cain killed his brother abel god asked him where is your brother abel again god knew what cain did god knew what happened god knew that he killed his brother abel god knew all of that god sees all things knows all things but that question tells you something about god it tells you something about the nature of god god always tries to give us the opportunity to confess our sins and turn to him so that he may receive us with open arms some of you might be thinking well wait a minute michael caine killed his brother i've never killed anybody these are the big sins i've never committed any of those big sins yeah this is the deception of the 21st century generation you see my beloved friends with god sin is sin there is no small sin and a big sin whether you miss the mark by one inch or by ten miles you've missed the mark missing the mark is what god cares about a white lie or a big lie god sees them the same the money that you have taken that doesn't belong to you is crying out to god the seething hatred that you are filled with a point of wishing somebody to be dead is crying out to god and when god asks the question he already knows the answer but he wants us to have the opportunity to repent to acknowledge that only jesus's death upon the cross can bring you true forgiveness but just in case still think that god is only concerned about the big sins i want to ask you a question okay i'm asking the question now let god i'm asking the question what was adam's sin that got him into trouble that has thrown him out of the garden murder no there was no one to kill except eve and she was alive and well in fact she got him into trouble adultery no there's no one to commit adultery with there's only a woman in the garden and she's his wife so what was adam's sin that caused him and caused all of us to inherit those miserable genes and get us into the mess that we are in ah he disobeyed god he just disobeyed god and my friend this is the root of all sins you see that is the root all the other sins are just the fruit but the root is wanting my way wanting my way not god's way and we are seeing so many people in washington dc into self-worship now it's not even funny anymore god said come to me through my son or suffer adam choose to disobey and all of the human race ever since have suffered until until until jesus came to provide the way out back to god there's another question that was asked this time was not asked by god was asked by job remember job people talk about the patience of job in job 14 14 it's very easy to remember in job 14 14 he asked the question if a man dies will he live again if a man dies will he live again you know i was talking to a lovely lady lives in our building and and and and every now and again when i run into her and and she would ask me she knows because she watches me on television she's a total unbeliever and she said i just i just love to watch you burn and she stopped me in the elevator not long ago and she said i'm deathly terrified of death so i do everything possible to ignore it i am terrified of the unknown so i'm trying to convince myself that when i die i just die and that's the end i told her in no uncertain term that her fear is justified that she should be terrified that she should be afraid of death because god did not create us so that we may finish a death he created us to live forever our bodies will die but our souls are immortal and our souls can only go to one of two places either to heaven with jesus or to hell with satan in this life god gives us the opportunity to choose and the choices we make in this life determines our eternal destiny the choices we make here and now will determine where we'll spend all of eternity and eternity my beloved friends is a very very long time it is not just the 50 60 70 100 years no it is forever and ever and ever the choices we make here and now will either make us live in fear in this life or joyous expectations and so what the answer to job's question jesus said to him job i'm going to answer your question now jesus now is answering the question when jesus christ came from heaven died on that cross and rose again on the third day victoriously mightily he answered job's question not just in words but in action he answered it through the visible eyewitness account by hundreds of the resurrected jesus they saw the resurrected jesus and when jesus rose from the dead he answered job's question his resurrection says yes job every human being will live again yes job every human being will eternally live yes job every human being will end up in one of two places which brings me full circle to the original question remember i told you it's the most important question it's the most vitally important question what good is it for anyone to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul jesus asked that question because he knows that your soul is eternal because he knows he made us our souls are immortal there was a time when you were not but there will never be a day when you will not be a million years from now you will be existing either in heaven with jesus or in torment through satan i pray to god not a person at the sound of my voice would make the wrong choice your eternal existence is for sure so the question is where will you spend it i pray to god that everyone would i won't spend it with jesus and if you have not already made that decision tonight you can tonight you can i want to conclude by telling you a story a true story that i read about an archaeological magazine believe it or not and it was about 79 a.d when the volcanoes erupted and rocked the city of pompeii my family and i had the joy of visiting that little town it's an amazing place of the 20 000 inhabitants of pompeii some two thousand people lost their lives among those two thousand peoples the archaeologists found a woman obviously loved her jury and i want to explain that because it's very important in the context of the scientific magazine it it jumped out to me as a person who loved jesus as the deadly reign of fire came down on that city people ran into the ships that was anchored nearby the harbor and they escaped with their life and this woman like all others probably tried to escape escaping out of danger is always a good thing always a wise thing escaping from the judgment of god is the wisest thing you can do and that is why the bible calls out to us and says be wise be wise and escape from the judgment that is coming upon this world and it appears to me at least is closer than ever and that is why god provided only one way of escape through his son jesus while this rich and beautiful woman escaping from the fire of pompeii she must have hesitated and that hesitation cost her her life and here's the article in the scientific magazine archaeological magazine i'll tell you about it before running out of the house she decided to collect her precious jewelry must have had a lot of it because the the these scientists were saying that they found rings stuffed and have fingers even though she's been dead for nearly 2 000 years but it's all there obviously she couldn't find a bag or something so she took the rest of her precious stuff and and hugged it as she was running out of the house and as she rushed into the street clutching into a pair put purrs and diamond embracing her rubies and sapphires and gold and silver and ran out of the house today these same scientists value that these jewelries for millions of dollars but alas the trip back to her house because of her precious jewels cost her her life her love for her wealth took away the precious moment that she needed to escape but by the time she grabbed her jewels and ran back on the streets the poisonous fumes from the volcano overwhelmed her still there they found her pretty woman well to do lots of jewels but you stumbled fell and died what does it profit a man or a woman to gain the whole world and lose their own soul this is just her body this is just her life but the soul is far more important so she died clutching into her prized possession she was buried under the ashes of pompeii with all of her wealth as i told you the only reason i know that is because this archaeological excavation found her and they pictured her still lovely her hands were still clutching on these jewels the question i would have liked to ask her why why did you go back for those things that will ultimately cost your life why would you die for all the wealth in the world why my friend well you say michael jules in latin i don't like jewelry and i don't like jewelry either i don't wear them but clutching onto your idea about god could be a downfall clutching into someone else's teaching or ideas about god what god is like what god should be like we hear that a lot now can be your deadly downfall but you must understand jesus is asking what is he asking he's saying that the perishing of the soul is far more serious than the perishing of the body as a matter of fact when the disciples came to him and are excited about the fact that they're casting demons and they're doing these things they said rejoice rather that your name written in the book of life don't fear him who can destroy the flesh but here you can destroy the soul the soul what can you really gain if you have all the wealth in the world and you spend your forever in agony what can you really gain if you hold on to something somebody else's idea about god why gamble with your eternal future and the future of your soul and the answer by the way is not nothing nothing would be something the answer is a colossal loss colossal loss eternity without god imagine the god who tells the sun to shine in the morning the god who tells the rain to fall the god who makes the grass and the crops grow the god who made and maintains his planet that beautiful planet imagine living in a place where none of that exists that is a christless eternity and when you accept this salvation plan you can be assured that you spend your forever not in that utter darkness not in that extreme loneliness nothing that's being constantly falling into the abyss ah but you'll be with him for all of eternity that's why he said come to me i love you come to me my son died for you escape while you can what a great invitation will you accept it will you receive it as a gift from his hand i'm going to ask you to bow your heads with me please and as every head is bowed and every eye is closed somebody must say michael i really got entangled with the affairs of this world and and i just want to be assured today that i am choosing jesus that i will not forfeit my soul for anything and if you make that if you want that prayer and you want somebody to come and pray with you wherever you are just stand up where you are somebody will come and pray with you bill fisher is going to be singing gently here for a minute and and if you stand up stand up where you are just say lord jesus you died for me and you said he will be ashamed of me before men i'll be ashamed of them in heaven before my heavenly father and you say i am not ashamed of you lord i come and give you i accept your invitation i receive you somebody will come and pray with you just stand where you are bill there's no doubt that jesus is in there's quite enough joy for one like me and there's quite enough hope and quite an affair to chase for jesus lord jesus this and in this very room there's quite enough love for all of us and in this very room there's quite enough joy for all of us and there's quite enough hope and quite an apartment to chase away any for jesus lord jesus is and in this very room there's quite enough for all the world and in this very room there's quite enough joy for all the world and there's quite an uphold and quite an affair to chase jesus lord jesus yes [Music] okay [Music] grace [Music] let us pray heavenly father we love you we hear your voice we hear your call from heaven and we pray lord that you will open our hearts that we may receive your word and your power and we may continue to pray that you will cause a great awakening and that your spirit we need your spirit lord you are the only one that can do these things you're the one who walked on water you're the one you're the one lord who was raised from the dead and now you're seated on the throne and we humbly stand before you but in our hearts we kneel and praise you and thank you for this night and for this wonderful moody center moody's prayers are being answered tonight and we thank you for it lord we praise
