Lawn Chair High Banking For Montana Gold

well hello and welcome we are out here in the hills of montana gonna hopefully find a little gold today we are i mean it's gorgeous it's in its 70s so awesome so we got the hobby minor sluice box set up with a high banker attachment um my wife is running this this is her job and she's going away at it i did change this screen a little bit because it was a little bit too slow for my liking so i'm going to switch to this it's got 3 8 holes in it this little scoop works as well she likes using the shovel so whatever she likes that's good we're trying to keep her up right because her back's done yeah trying to keep her upright because her back is really bugging her lately so we are running uh high low v silicone mat in here now we'll give it a look after a bit i know a lot of you have it or run it but anyway we're up we're going we got our buddy bob with us today he's got his trommel set up over here let me show you where we're digging of course our water i don't know if you can see it got some tub set up there with the spring so we're getting our water from there with a hose stream is way down there where i've been digging earlier this year [Applause] so somebody cut down this tree that was dead so we're digging down here underneath it and beside it we know no one's touched that in what 100 years or so so we're digging down under that stump this area you can see the rock piles got old tailing piles hand stacked rocks everywhere so this area was worked by the old timers a long time ago i think they hydrauliced it and they just rushed water down here down all the way down and just cleaned it out so we're only digging oh two feet down at the most to get to the hard pack clay layer and there is a lot of clay in this material so we'll continue on [Applause] um we just started running it ran i think two or three of these bucket shovels here so i could go she's about out of dirt so i'll get down there and dig up some more [Applause] so i am using my bucket shovel today about five gallon this is actually a six gallon bucket cut in half and this will equal about a half a five gallon bucket when it's filled up but this is my old man trick for the day or if you got bad arms or you've got a bad back this is a super easy and fast way to fill up the bucket so yep [Applause] now instead of having to pick up a five gallon bucket olympia with one arm you take two hands pack this up to the wheelbarrow bucket at half a bucket at a time works great for me [Applause] i guess it's my turn to run the high banker and i like the little round shovel better just eats away yeah i can just wake the rocks out oh before i forget silicone mat molds and the hobby miner sleuths with all the attachments extreme suits recirculating suits and ibanker is available at ran i don't know four or five buckets i suppose too many rooks on that one [Applause] all right it's time to do our first clean out see if we're getting any gold or not so this is easy comes out so you can clean it out that just lifts off [Applause] a few bigger rocks up in the top no big deal um i don't see any gold but you're hardly ever doing these mats when the water's going over this they keep moving and so my theory is is the gold sinks to the bottom you hardly ever see it in the mat itself so get this cleaned out see if we get some gold [Applause] oh i forgot i flipped this over when it had dirt in it the other day all that did not come through the mat at all i forgot i was in a hurry i tried out the high banker at home and just turned the mat over and never even cleaned it out but there was no gold in that dirt i'm pretty damn sure of that [Applause] okay let me get this cleaned up and see what we got well we got to start nothing real big but that's definitely a good start so we'll get back to doing some more digging get the high banker set back on there we'll be ready to go [Applause] we are working on our second a wheelbarrow full of dirt now she went back to the scoop working pretty good we're going through it fairly quick so we're good with that so here is a question i get asked all the time so here in montana i get this question what can you how can you legally run a high banker what are some of the rules well i've had several discussions with different forest service people and stuff so this is my understanding i'm not saying i'm the rule book or anything but if you want a high bank in montana without getting all the permits and all that good stuff a recirculating system like this with an electric pump is the way to go you can high bank and i this was told to me anywhere on four service ground that is open to prospecting if you run this way and recirculate with an electric pump and this water that goes into the tub does not reach the crick or the stream you're good to go he told me with my setup i'm good to go pretty much anywhere i want to go so as long as this water doesn't get into the screen i'm good to go now they also said you cannot pump water from the stream into your tub which is absolutely asinine if you ask me but yeah something to do with water rights and all that good stuff so i guess you gotta take a five gallon bucket and scoop it out of the stream or the crick and put into your tub so each to his own on that one but that's what they told me i hope that helps some people out oh that's some mucky nasty stuff [Applause] well absolutely gorgeous out here today huh a little bit of a breeze but not bad at all [Applause] bob he's digging in this hole over here seeing if he gets any gold he's just doing a cleanup right now [Applause] well our third clean out for the day got me a little picker right there i can pick it up it's a small one but i can pick it up that's pretty good um i don't know if it gets any better sitting here in the lawn chair running a high banker third clean out we'll get that put back up i got more dirt dug down there so that is our third one right third clean out yep so we'll go on to the next one we're gaining on this hole in this stump we're underneath that big rook there but digging away well our fourth bucket or wheelbarrow full of dirt um i'm telling you what there's nothing better than high banking sitting in a lawn chair we've been taking turns and i'll tell you it just don't get much better and the more i run this the high banker the more i like it now just getting used to it change the screen up a little bit [Applause] oh i did get some footage last week of me running the 10 inch sluice down in the crick because this thing bending over it all day feeding it with the grizzly bar sluice box mat in it was kicked my butt when it came to came to uh leaning over that in the stream all day so i've built some sides some uh universal sides that you can put on an aluminum sluice box with the sliding levelers took that out last week and tried it and boy it worked fantastic and i don't have to lean over the sluice anymore so i need to just finish up the high banker sections for it and i've got a idea for a uh for like a high production high banker that i want to put on a 10 inch sluice so that is yet to come but i think i got an idea and i think it's gonna be diy i believe at this point uh so i got an idea we're gonna try it out see how it works here in a bit but so far for the hobby miners sluice we're doing real well here if anybody has bought one of these high bankers with the others screen in it and it is just too slow um get a hold on the website let us know i'll send you the new one all right and you can just unbolt it and slide in a new classifier screen this one is much much faster okay back to digging so this is our fifth and final i believe [Music] that new project i've been working on there was a special request by somebody and it's a deep well another table eight inches wide [Applause] eight by eight is the working table but wait until you see this that thing works amazing um i'm running beach gold on it and it's doing a fabulous job and so far well i've been playing another quite a bit i would love to thank awesome i'll have a video out on that soon um [Applause] that'll be a fun trip i don't know mother lode but heck we'll take that that's not too bad got a couple decent pieces in there uh we did run our five wheelbarrows like i said not fantastic but it works but oh we got a heck of a mess to clean up here i just broke it you just broke it oh well we will easily fix no it just pulled out it's not broke it just pulled out so we got bigger on our hole down here we're digging around that root so we'll get there but i will go ahead and put that clip in of the stream sluice of it running so uh i thank everybody for watching and we will catch you next time bye now well i made it down to the video on a while back and showed it i wanted to bring it out and give it a try it's got the sliding levelers uh backward forwards up and down so i think i got the sluice about where i want it so we'll
