- Hello. - Hello. - Hello. (all laughing) - Sorry, Phoebe is still havin' her hair done. Hello, welcome to My Virgin Kitchen. Hope you are well. Chloe? - Yeah? - Have you ever wanted to make ice cream at 9:00 a.m.? - Yeah. Yes. - Have you ever wanted to make ice cream using a ball? - Yes. - Well you've come to the right place. Because this, ladies and gents, welcome to a kitchen gadget testing video. If you've missed any of the kitchen gadget testing videos, there's a full place at which you can watch and have a Barry-thon and enjoy it for the rest of your life. (exhaling) (Chloe giggling) Oh wow, that was good. - Dad! - It's like, like a monkey. (all laughing) Right, so, this thing that looks like, what does it look like, girls? - [Both girls] A ball. - A ball, but to me, it reminds me of the earth. I don't know why. I think a ball was the right answer. Reminds me of one of those bouncy balls. It's got the same sort of material around it where it's normally filled with air. A lot of football, soccer players toe punt it, get a bit of movement on it. Love it, you know what I'm talkin' about. But this is no other ball. This has two sections to it, right? These lever bits will help actually rest on a surface so it can stand up. Look at your heads. Hey earth heads. So that can stand up and keep it on a flat surface. But in each of these compartments, one goes our ice cream base mix, which, we're gonna make vanilla chocolate chip? - [Both girls] Yeah! - So they're gonna do that. And then the other end, the ice and rock salt goes in there. The rock salt apparently lowers the freezing point of the ice, makes it fluidy more quick. So when we're swirling it around, it will actually hit the contact point, the metal thing in there that's gonna turn the thing into ice cream. Kinda like the ice cream maker and the sorbet we did the other day. - Ice cream. - [Both girls] Ice cream, ice cream. Come and get your ice cream. - Come and get - [Both] your Ice cream. - Covered your pants now? (chuckling) - Look at my legs. - I know, that's why I don't wear a skirt on camera, right? Sit there, okay? (all laughing) So we got two compart, we'll just show it together on the camera, right? Uh, twist this off. And this is the compartment. Hello, wow. And then this bit, twist this off, oh yeah. Oh. See that's another hollow bit there. Hello. - [Both girls] Hello. - Wait, wait, wait, helloooo. - And I think there is a way of gettin' this off. - Cor! - I don't know, yeah. I don't know why I did that. It doesn't actually tell us very well which end the ice, or the ice cream, goes in. But I'm thinkin' the ice goes in there, so that way it can fully, thinkin' this Phoebs, uh, Chloe? (laughing) See her face. We're thinkin' it could surround the whole bit where the ice cream will be in there. And that will probably be easier to get out like that as well, right? Look, it doubles up as a hat. But I'll double-check that step whilst they do turn it into a hat. (laughing) And we can make the ice cream mix and also give it a quick wash. Not gonna go into it too much, but some creams have different butter fat levels. So we're using a double-cream, which is quite a thick one. Gives you sort of like less, well, actually more of a heavy ice cream. Okay? - Yeah. - But I think it's naughty, as well. You can do like ones with soy and stuff, which makes it a lot lighter. But we won't go into that today. Probably confuse you guys. And me. So let's follow their recipe. First thing we need is one pint of cream, which is 500 millilitres. - Yeah. - Done? - [Both girls] Yeah. - Awesome. No, no, no, it's a spout, mate. Use the spout. Tip it this way so it goes through there. That's it. Keep tippin', that's it. Yes. You okay? - Got that on me. I got s-- - Vanilla extract. - Ooh. - What does it smell like? - It smells a tiny bit of Grandma's perfume. - Grandma's perfume. (laughing) - Beer, beer. - But a little more-- - Smells of beer, does it Chloe? You like beer, do you? - No, you do. Pirates do. - Pirates like beer. We need about a teaspoon of that. - Can I? - Come on, Chloe. You can do the sugar, Phoebs, all right? - Okay. - Yes. We need a third of a cup of sugar. - Okay. - So, Phoebs is gonna do that whilst I recycle. - Wow, Phoebe. Can I smell? - Smells of beer. (sniffing) - It does smell of beer, of alcohol. - Yeah. - But not of beer, mate. The last thing we're gonna add in is 100 grammes of chocolate chips. You open those up. (bag crunching) Now when you're normally makin' ice cream, it's good to add filling bits right at the end after it's churned up so it sort-of gets randomised enough. But hopefully by us chuckin' that ball around, it'll work pretty well. I've got that tip from the Ken & Jenny's Cookbook. Are you guys eatin' the chips? - I ate one. - No. (bag rustling) (thunking and clucking) - Right. Whicks and spoon, whicks and spoon? Mix it together. So this is our ice cream base. It is so many variations we coulda done. We coulda put more fruits in there, we coulda put cocopo. - Look at them. - Or we could just eat it like that. - Look at it (singsong voice) - Smells of food. - It is food. - Smells all-- - Smells creamy. - To make it easier to get into the container, um, to be fair, we shoulda just done it in this jug, or just need the mixing bowl with a spout on it. - Chocolate chips out. There's one dot in there. (chuckling) - I left one chocolate chip in there, though. There you go, Chloe, does this make you happy? That one chocolate chip? (laughing) In it goes. So all those chocolate chips just sat there goin' hey, I'm stayin' in there. You see 'em, Chloe? - Um hm. I'm puttin' the chocolate chips in the bowl. - So we need half a cup of rock salt and as much ice as we can cram into that. (salt shaking) - It looks like gems to me. - [Barry] Looks like gems? - Yes. - Like gems. - Or crystals. - Lid is goin' on. We're gonna seal in our ice cream base. Do that nice and tight. Not too much, uh. (gasping) It almost looks like Chloe's growing out of it. (laughing) Look, a little snake. - Oh my gosh, it's like it's on me. It's your body. Look at that. Let's get our ice cubes. Put as much ice as you can in there. (ice falling) Fill it up, guys. Is this the most random thing you've ever done? - [Both girls] Yes. - [Barry] We've just used up nearly a whole bag of ice, and this thing is not full. - Mommy's just starin' at us like what are they doin'? - [Barry] This is just normal, right? - Yeah, just a normal Saturday mornin'. No! (girls laughing) Get off. - [Barry] Ah, ya little rat. - Get off, no, no, no. (everyone laughing) (squealing) - Let's say that will melt the ice quicker, but it'll still hold its freezin' point. Make it more of a fluid that will get around that whole canister, and you kinda shape that in. Don't touch it yet, shake it. (shaking) All right, I think that's good enough. (groaning) Right. Let 10 minutes of constant rolling this thing and passing it around, (girl groaning) start now. (rolling sounds) (dad laughing) - This feels weird. - [Barry] We're makin' ice cream, okay? This is ice cream. - This is really random weird. - [Barry] And a dog lead. You could take it for a walk, come on. (whistling) Come on, walkies. (rolling) Speakin' of walkies, Boston, you wanna play? - [Phoebe] Boston. - [Barry] What's this? Come on, boy. - [Phoebe] He's just sniffin' it, look. - [Barry] Go on. (laughing) - [Phoebe] What's this? - [Barry] Go get it, go get it. - Boston, what's this? Ready? (rolling sound) - Whee! (rolling sounds) - You guys get the idea. We're just basically pushing a ball around our floor. Oh no! (salt shaking) Guess what, while they're doin' that, I'm gonna get some more salt in here. (ice rolling) (dad laughing) (crunching) You look like you're enjoyin' that. - It's my arms are achin'. - After the 10 minutes mark, scrape the freezing ice cream off the sides of the cylinder with a large, plastic spoon. Mix, close the lid, and check the outer chamber for more ice. We're about two minutes away from that step. Things are gettin' crazy. Right Chloe? - Yeah. - Whoop. (crunching) There is water all over the floor. Whadda ya think Ames? Huh? There we go. (gasping) That's a workout. Mrs. Barry, look, you're Mrs. Blueberry. (everyone laughing) Ahh. I don't know if this is working. (laughing) But oh look, it says to scrape down the ice cream from the sides, and the chocolate chips have just stuck. - [Phoebe] To the sides. - I'm not too confident about this. There's still a lot of ice in there, so let's get some more salt in. (salt sprinkling) (crunching) - And whee! (crunching) (dad chuckling) - It's such a hot day today. It is way cooler out there than it is in here. I'm gonna get the other ice ready. But they're just gonna roll it out there. What're you thinkin'? - I hope it works. - Cuckoo! (thumping) (crunching) - Don't think it's gonna work, mate. I'd like to just use a hammer to get the lid off it. (crunching) (grunting) So the ice is still in there. We're just adding some more in, just hoping it's gonna work. (chuckling) I don't know if Chloe's helpin' or just tryin' to stick ice on me. (thunking) Ah, there we go. Let's go outside again. - Safe! - I'm genuinely using the hammer to get the thing off, though, 'cause it's freezin' so much. Ah, you see? That is actually gettin' there. That is actually gettin' there. The kids have got a party to go to in a minute. I might have to do this solo. Look. That is actually startin' to work, even though I'm drenched in water and usin' a hammer on a toy. I believe in this. I mean, you know, when it's a gadget, it's potentially a failure when the kids give up and start doing drawing. (crunching) I will say one thing, it's definitely a workout. And it is gettin' heavier. And water's drippin' from it. (crunching) You know, Boston, as you lick your bottom leg, I think it might've worked. (crunching) (gasping) - Tired? - The last 25 minutes of my life, this has been my third child. I've loved it, I've caressed it, I've put it in a towel. There's salty water on the floor. I'm feelin' like I was Gandhi at the beach makin' a protest about salt. But no. We're just gonna go for it, all right kids? Oh, you're back now, eh? Yeah, have a shake. Get some child labour in there. (crunching) Huh? All right, let's see if it worked. (grunting) - Yay. - No hammer this time. (gasping) Oh wow! - Yummy! - Yes! - But what has this got? It's got a hole in it in the middle. I'm gonna get the water out the bottom 'cause it's freezin' my hand a minute. (thunking) Can you see that? That is actual ice cream, why is, oh, I know, 'cause we've shaken it and it's clung to the metal sides where it's cold, right. Get in there, mate. Yeah, come on. Well that's how cold it's gotten, though. - Can I have a go? - Yeah. - [Barry] Maybe Mommy can do it. - [Mom] That is solid. - [Barry] Well it has worked then. But, like, no joke, 10 minutes ago it was like a fluid. - Believe in yourself. (dad laughing) - [Barry] Believe in yourself, Phoebe, come on. - Believe yourself (singsong voice). - I've just worked out, this entire video is a workout. (thunking) That'll do, kids. - Let's try it. - Let's try. - Let's just eat it out of here. - [Barry] But ladies and gents, we can't argue that that is not ice cream, right? - We've got some. (chewing) - What do you think, girls? - Good. - Stonking! - Stonking? - Amazing. - It does work, but by golly. There's easier ways to do it, with like a Ziploc bag. (mom laughing) I don't know if I can approve of this gadget, but hopefully this gives you a little idea, if you wanna have some fun. It took 25 minutes to get that stage. - But if you want some entertainment for a kids' party. - What, as in I'm the entertainer? - No-- - I'll put a clown nose on. - Give 'em that-- - Hello, it's Barry, the ice cream making clown. - Make sure you-- - Like I'm like walkin' on the ball, like dancin' I go. - That's not what I meant. - For reference, this is not sweat, although if feels like it. It's just a combination of salty hot water and an ice cream blob. Don't forget to have a Barry-thon and watch the rest of the kitchen gadget testing playlist. It goes on for hours now. And let me know if you've found any cool gadgets online. @MyVirginKitchen on social media. And some of you are actually sending me gadgets from your home. So, I really appreciate that. Thanks so much for watching, and I'll see you soon.
