worship as it has been good and today is Mother's Day so happy Mother's Day to all the moms now I don't know about you but I have the strange inclination to look at guys you know happy Mother's Day like like it's like Christmas or Easter or something like that and and if what we want to take a moment and just recognize all the moms if you're a mom we just sort of hold your hand up high we want to welcome you recognize you thank you so beautiful so awesome [Applause] you know and a lot of us we know it's secret as well you don't have to give birth to someone to be their mom there's some of you who have been moms to so many orphan adults in LA and we're going to thank you for loving them and creating a nurturing space and and just creating an environment where people feel loved and they belong and but we want to thank man I want to thank my mom you know maybe she's watching the live stream love you mom and and I want to thank you for all the sacrifices you made on our behalf for the times that we thought you you didn't understand us and we realized that you were always there taking care of us and watching her back and trying to create a space for us to become the people were supposed to be so thank you and sometimes we forgot and how important people are in our lives and I started thinking about how there's really three moms in my life the mom that gave me birth that gave her her life just to raise us and care for us and give us a future my grandmother I called her mommy finita she was my mom too and my grandmother was also a huge part of my life raising me the first few years of my life and was always there for me and she was the one just to always kept telling me I was awesome and when all the information was to the contrary and and the third mom in my life is my beautiful and amazing wife Kim who gave birth to our children I have great news for you and I'm not gonna just sit yet I have great news for you today on Mother's Day I have been bumped from the scheduling and the amazing Kim ik dance is gonna bring the message today I am so excited I am so excited I was begging her to speak and she kept saying no and and she doesn't really listen to me anyway and I was like please I think you're supposed to speak and she said no and then I find out that she sends a text to david Arcos saying i think i'll be speaking tomorrow but she didn't tell me I was so like I was you know and I was going to go ahead and speak but I just knew it was supposed to be her speaking into our lives today so before we go any further I want to take a minute and I just want you to greet someone say hello to someone I'll take it maybe make it just a little bit more than hi like ask each other's names you know that awkward moment where you're supposed to know someone but you don't you know that moment you're supposed to know their name but you forgot this is the perfect moment to break that through so this is what you do you go hi I'm Irwin I mean you don't use my name but you use your name so you introduce yourself as if you've never met before so right now take a moment and introduce you someone that you've never met before for the fifth time go ahead [Music] [Music] [Music] all right and not fun me back on and not fun have a seat you don't even realize that you just met an amazing human being and that's how friendships start is that first sometimes chance encounter where you meet each other I don't usually get to come up here during the time of offering but one of my friends sent me this verse and I marked it because it was so powerful to proverbs 1124 says the world the world of the generous gets larger and larger in the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller and this came to me at just the perfect time I was even as you've been receiving questions for people all over the place and looking at some of life's toughest questions and I was amazed how many people ask questions about giving but from a posture of I really like proof for not having together it's funny hi I didn't get a lot of questions going I just feel compelled to give more and I need you to help me break through so that I can do that it's interesting to me that almost every virtue that exists we get a sense that there should be more of that we never think to ourselves you know there's way too much love in the world we should pull back on that I think you know there's just too much kindness we should you know own it down right that we should put a ceiling right on integrity those virtues that we actually really value we just think there should be more and more and more of that and if you stop and step back and look at the world you realize there actually are not many places where someone will speak into your life and say your world would get will get bigger and bigger and bigger if you become a generous human being and this is not unfortunately it's not always an intuitive realization we live in an environment where we become so afraid that we take and we take and we take and we're afraid because if we give and we give them we give maybe we'll run out of those resources this past week one of my friends who works with me and they said my computer was stolen and all my banking information was on my computer and someone just stole seven thousand dollars in my account and they were just devastated and I could hear their voice shaking and and they said all your informations on that computer too and I just need I needed to call you and tell you and we were working through and I was going to the bank and trying that you know put checks on things and and I was somewhere yesterday and some was asked about I said look people steal because they do not believe they can create and I said what a horrible place to be it feels terrible to have something stolen from you but for me it's so tragic that a person would have such a low view of who they are that they don't believe they can create and I want you to know something today that you have been given by God the ability to create that when you and I when we become generous our world becomes bigger and bigger and bigger I had the opportunity to weeks ago to sit in a room and listen to yell on musk and he was talking about you know about going to Mars and building tunnels under la to get this to LAX in a matter of minutes and I just hope he's successful in every venture and and and Chris Anderson from Ted just kept asking him like why do you want to go to Mars there's so many other problems to solve I mean this is not a problem and and he just started saying like cuz I said so I'm not sad about the future and he was like I need something to do that gives me a sense of hope about the future I realized here's a person taking all of this genius and his wealth and he's he's breaking ground that none of us can even imagine his world is getting bigger and bigger and bigger and I wonder what happened if all of us apply this to everyday principles there are everyday activities that if we became generous people we would just pour into others pour into other people's life generous with our time generous with our love generous with our grace generous with our forgiveness there's so many areas we need to be generous and and generous where they're given and so I like this moment when we receive our offering to not be a moment just where we're giving to what God is doing through the church in the world I want it to be a breakthrough moment in our lives where we acknowledge the virtue the power of generosity and we believe this truth of the scriptures that the world of the generous gets larger and larger but the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller and smaller if you want God to do big things in your life if you want God to maximize your influence if you want God to do something in your life you can look back and go wow I can't believe I was a part of that this is a good starting point don't let you world get smaller and smaller by being afraid that God will not be more generous to you then you will be to others and there's some freedom that comes an unbelievable freedom that comes when you know that God will always be more generous to you and you ever be to anyone else so I want us to Posche your hearts right now not just to give but the change our minds about getting let's just be a value shift let's let God make our world bigger and bigger and bigger as we learn to be generous it's real early to give our lives aligned with our dumb team Commons we bring our fancy buckets forward now I'm gonna pray now I'm gonna pray that your world will get bigger and bigger and bigger and not smaller and smaller and smaller but we know how to do that because a generous person their world keeps growing father I thank you that you give us a path to have greater influence to do more good to I'll allow what you've given us to be given to those around us I pray father you expand the worlds in this room you would expand the influence in this room but you would make us a generous people and that our world would just get larger and larger and larger and we would see what we have invested in here affect the lives of people across the right god we believe that the world you can give us is as big as this world that we live in I pray father that for those whose worlds maybe have gotten smaller and smaller and smaller because they've been fearful and they're afraid and they're holding tight to what they have and and God it's a challenge for them to let go and to trust to be generous I pray that right now God you would break the hold of fear in their life then it would be more than just an act of giving that it would be an act of freedom and a giving would be a response of celebration to the freedom you've given them from the fear of wanting and lacking God move us from a mindset of poverty to a mindset of abundance where we know that you are a generous God and we simply want to reflect your character as we give we pray in Jesus name Amen let's give together those things there's different ways you can give I don't do this often I forget a few of the details you can text mosaic 277 977 you life's toughest questions because honestly this was last week this was last week I just wanted to recap and so now that's done we can just move on to this week and with I am NOT a one disclaimer and I am NOT that but if it's okay I'll just do me yeah because honestly or when kept asking me to speak and I'm like no it's Mother's Day can I have my Mother's Day and you know Mariah when she was in like four she was like four years old and I was teaching her preschool the church I said what do you love about your mother and all she wanted to do was talk about Irwin and and I kept pressing it I had to write it down cuz we put the hearts outside in the hallway I was the teacher and she just happened to be my daughter honey what do you really love about your mother well I love that my dad is on come on it's been my whole life so happy Mother's Day honey I really did not feel like I was supposed to speak all week long so um he would ask I would say no because it's life's toughest questions when it gets to the series life's most simple questions you ring me up I got that one I got on but like when you put it a lot as something like the toughest things I'm not I'm not there and I'm so I said no no no it's Mother's Day and life toughest question no no no and then I was watching dishes last night can I tell you this hi I'm just us I guess um I was washing dishes and there was this excitement that I had not known in a while mm-hmm this excitement started like rising up in me and I'm like I know it's all the dishes um so I'm thinking like okay what was I just thinking about was I oh it was making on I got to go back to that thought because I'm really excited about that what is that it and it just began to grow and grow and so I took my Bible and just spread it out there and I started and I and then the realization is am i studying for tomorrow no I've already said no to that God um and then I said okay look look if this is supposed to happen and it was 7:30 that's very late to start a message people by the way if you've never done that Irwin would start about 10:30 last night but I'm not that Arwen um and so I said if it's you would you have Irwin come into the kitchen and say are you studying to preach tomorrow and in about two minutes he came to the kitchen and he said are you studying to preach tomorrow and I looked at him I was so like I'm just reading I just read my Bible and honestly it had not been a very good week it hadn't been a very good a couple of weeks and I was punishing him in fact I was really punishing him yesterday until I got a text and they said I'm sorry for everything I love you he didn't even know what he did so he'll just apologize for everything [Applause] somehow I like that so I forgave him but it really wasn't him you see it was really me and I know like in psalm you know I I remember like it's in Psalm 17 6 & 7 when David was like that when when David was like that he would do this he would say this Rose is I call on you I call on you my God for you will answer me you turn your ear to me and you hear my prayer and the reason he could pray that is because he prayed that a thousand times before that was his that was his posture I call on you my God for you will answer me you turn you tune into me you turn to me and you hear my prayer and it says show me show me the wonders of your love and I had been missing that part for weeks the wonders of God's love and so I wouldn't read my Bible I didn't go to God and I know why I know why I know now why I knew then but it was it was a journey of just okay I just I am just closed up I don't know if you've ever been there my you know what my life's toughest question is can a mighty God cannot mighty powerful omnipotent God see me because I feel so invisible some days right do you think that you could hear me I love that about David and then you go to his son Solomon in Proverbs and this is what Solomon said the next generation and it was in Proverbs five it says for your ways are in full view of the Lord and he examines all your paths your way is he knows everything about you and me but sometimes I need to know God you are speaking to me and last night he said I'm gonna show you but this is how I'm going to show you it's gonna be in front of everybody because all of this closed down Bible closed prayer closed closed off closed down relationships not texting back people had really come because I am so afraid I don't want to admit that but I am so afraid and yes proverbs says my ways your ways every thought you have every action you do every motivation every intent of your heart every passion every obsession every shameful amazing thing that you do is in full-hd before God not yay this week right and so and so what I had to do is I thought I have to start over because it says he examines all my paths and I love that imagery in the Old Testament because it's all through proverbs it's about the paths about the paths and and it is like the road that was traveled over and over and over and over and over year after year when the God the the farmer in the cart and so travels that the cart has made these ruts in the road these groves in the road they've been in tracks that the farmer is made and the merchants have made and the people have made have carved out this this way and even though we are all on different paths and some of us are all in this path together like some sometimes we just bump into you each other in the night we don't even recognize hey we have a community here right we think in our own little rut in our own little beaten path our tribe that's leading us down derailing us a little bit that we're by ourselves yes so then we don't pick up something and call for help I need help yesterday I call for help so God said okay can I'm gonna get to you I'm gonna get to you and so there were five guys who God spoke to to me this week not the hamburger joint the actual five men hi thought about that I thought about that Lee you know five guys the first one was our win coming in the kitchen last night that's pretty cool but I went to a wedding in San Diego driving back the next guy was a traffic cop and um and I was so frustrated and I was so anxious because of the hours of traffic I had you know now I'm going home it's dark and how can you avoid how can you get lost on the five going home when San Diego is connected to LA by one freeway how can you miss it and I missed it because I had ways in my hand and I had a GPS on my car and somehow I still missed it and I got off on Laguna Niguel and I was so upset with myself and so exhausted and it was just a picture of this week right always going the wrong way with nobody in the car with me I just felt like a little overwhelmed and it it mean to feel overwhelmed and that's not my nature you get it I'm not a whiny baby I'm inside I know I mean if you if you start with this area you use not necessarily wanted sometimes I can go there this is not usually me but I was there and when I when I drove out that in chick-fil-a because lord knows that's what I was trying on um I went I wanted to go last uh supposed to go last to get on the five again and I went right but my way said that you can't make a legal u-turn for 0.8 miles I said heck no there's a u-turn I'm gonna turn right there and guess who was waiting for me but he was right in front of me that police officer and in Laguna Niguel and so I pulled over immediately and I roll down the window I gave him all my stuff and I said I I deserve a ticket I deserve it just I deserve this he get it buddy he was so dumbfounded he's like why hi and so he went through all the scenarios he said where have you been I said it a wedding he goes how much did you have to drink oh this is me sober I would take a u-turn right in front of a police officer but that's me and he goes why I said I'm lost and I was lost but then it was point eight to do a legal turn yes I left it out but when he let me go he was so upset with me he was partly upset that he didn't give my here and give me a ticket but he fussed at me all the way back to his patrol car you know go up there then I got a photo and get that phone out of your hand I'm like thank you thank you and and I couldn't see the mercy of God through his grumpiness and through my attitude that God saved me from an accident that God saved me from my own distractions and from my own lostness and Dean wailing from that path I traveled that past so much my car could go by itself but I just was not paying attention and all of the anxiety just came back in waves again and so here I'm on the five crime right thank God for that police officer who pulled me over who gave me a finger wagging right it gave me some some it pulled me back on the path you have those people in your life that will wag their finger you they'll call you out that will say hey hey my god why got there cuz when I pay attention as a God in my lack of attentiveness can you still get to me and he'll get to you he will get to you one way or the other he'll get to you that was the second guy it was a stranger who came to my house a friend of Ellen's half the time they're strange Lama who these people are pastor pastor and his wife Incheon they came from San Diego on my whole wake Santiago uh he came from San Diego and he's sitting in my living room never having met me and he says you need to write that book and boy was that the very center of anxiety for me I said to him you don't know me you don't know anything about me and he said well I got a book contract from the same publisher and boy that anxiety now was mixed with envy and well you know I wanted to what and his wife said I'm also writing a book good good the whole world but his name was Sergio and was such love he said to me your destiny is connected to your son and when you write that book God will bring you freedom and he will free your son I was like a prophecy of my life and I use again said but you don't know me he says but I know the Holy Spirit is speaking right God will get through to you God speaks he knows your name he knows your face he knows your DNA he's gonna get to you look look at this proverb so let's go there proverbs um proverbs 4 proverbs 4 let's go to proverbs 4 this is this proverbs 4:18 are we to see it proverbs 4:18 it says the path of the what that is the one who is innocent the path of the innocent is like the morning sun shining ever brighter till the white full light of day but the way of though what wicked the guilty the way of the guilty is like deep darkness they do not know what makes them what and this picture in the Hebrew stumble is a picture of one who was weak and broken and and sick and powerless and their stumbling over and they've lost control and I look at that and it's such it's a verse 18 and verse 19 is such a contrasting verse I don't really consider myself wicked but it's like deep darkness I got that I got that part I felt like I was in the darkness all all week two weeks and then and I didn't know what me was making me stumble but hear that word wickedness is in contrast from between it's a contrast between those who were willing to hear God and those who it nor the voice of God all right do you see that and I don't think there are periods of time when I'm a wicked person I don't think I live in wickedness but I do sin against God and it separates me in these moments that I shut got out and I refuse to hear his voice does that make him not speak to me so many times we have this pattern we had this pattern pattern as he speaks we don't like what we hear he speaks and we refused to hear him he speaks and we ignore it he speaks and we ignore it he speaks and we ignore it he speaks and our heart begins being hardened he speaks if we will not obey that he speaks and do you think he will continue to speak some of the questions in this series that Arwen received was built around this theme with God's presence and some of them were like how do you feel God's presence will God's voice disappear from speaking to you if you do not listen I can't stop wondering if women should be preaching at all well number three I obey you obey and number two will God's voices appear yes if you keep refusing it the least work you do about this relationship between you and God that voice will disappear I don't want to have a relationship with Erlin and I shut him down I shut him out I lock him out time after time after time after time of your science thank you so very much and I'm time after time do you think that relationships gonna be healthy it's not gonna be healthy that's not that be your pattern we're gonna change some patterns here we got to change some pathway we have to change them pathways and get back on this idea that God actually the maker of the universe the maker of volcanoes the maker of plate tectonics the maker of the ocean the maker of your DNA the maker of your blood and brain and muscles is calling out your name and he is saying to you come sit with me come be with me let's sit down and talk this out do you have that with him I so longed to have that again and if I don't have it he just keeps bringing people into my life and he says Kim there's something I want to say to you his name was John Gordon some of our staff heard in this week John Gordon came and he sat in my backyard and our staff was having dinner he turns to me and I you know John Gordon just wrote his 15th book and I said John um you know I have to give it to you you have grit you have grit because it's been a long process of growth for him you know some of his books weren't very good and they just thought get get got him sorry they they're better and better and better and better and better and better and better and this is gonna hit it out of the park this book and I said what is it he goes Kim what keeps you from writing keeps you from writing Kim and I said it's the fear it's the fear and because it is fear and what casts out fear is that verse that that something something casts out fear what is it again what is it again perfect love perfect love casts out fear perfect love extinguishes anxiety he goes Kim you've got it to a place where you love it so much that the fear is gone that you're loving it so much of the fear is gone and I stand here before you and I'm saying I'm not loving it so much today I'm not loving the process because I'm not past it can I steal speech if I'm not past the anxiety of it does it disqualify me to be in a place of being weak feeling weak and stumbling no it doesn't but look this is what Hebrews says I don't know read it in the the message Bible this is what this is what Hebrews says it says so watch your step friends make sure there's no evil unbelief lying around that will trip you up and throw you off what that will throw you off course today routing you from the Living God as long as it's still called God's today keep each other on your toes so sin doesn't slow down at your reflexes if you can only keep your grip on the shore thing we started out with we're in this with Christ for the long haul right he's with us for the long haul through the paths that divert through the dead ends and who the through the tracking off through aimless wilderness these words keep ringing in our ears please please listen don't turn a deaf ear as in the bitter uprising the uprising you know he ever had your bitter uprising this week my bitter uprising for you were you were the people who turned a deaf ear were weren't they the ones for who the people who turned a deaf ear weren't they the ones Moses let out of Egypt should be the most grateful should be the most amazing people and who were who was God provoked for for forty years wasn't it those who turned a deaf ear and ended up corpses in the wilderness not where I want to be and when he swore that they'd never get where they were going wasn't he talking to the ones who turned a deaf ear they never got there they never got there because they never listened they never believed there's that part that says we've got today keep each other on on your toes so sin doesn't slow down your reflexes you know those reflexes that you have that says oh I can see what's coming next and I got I gotta respond according to what's coming next when you're driving and you all know how to drive on these roads right there's the pedestrian 14 not paying attention on their cell phones and then there's the motorcycle and the cyclist all at the same time and they're trying to get around you and you're honking your horn cuz you got got some road rage right but you have to pay attention to all of it that's going on but there's also a spiritual realm that you need to be paying attention to and you have spiritual reflexes and how do you strengthen those spiritual reflexes so that then doesn't slow those reflexes down so that you can always be aware that God God's presence that you can be aware that he's speaking to you and that your voice can know his voice your spirit can know his spirit it goes like this one you practice doing it over and over and over again the sitting in his presence they I don't know how you do it sitting in his presence if it's on your hike or if it's on your you know so far or where is it I don't know where it is in nature or in bed or whatever but you practice committing to this relationship that an Almighty God wants to have with you and he's committed to you for the long haul and you practice that daily and you sit in that in his presence and it signals him that you want him and who doesn't want to be wanted he wants you he's never not wanted you the feelings in your heart may not have equaled him wanting you or your emotional state may not have equaled him wanting you but it's not true it's not true he's always pursued you he's always known your name he's always called after you he's always loved you he's always been for you he's always fought your battles for you and so we we practice this presence of God you know how you strengthen your spiritual reflexes you you have this internal stillness that you can only bring that Tunes in to his voice and you'll only know his voice as you have that internal stillness and things can be crazy around me and I'm the person who is the most distracted of all of you right I am so distractible it's very difficult for me to get that internal stillness when things are loud and noisy around me but I really tried to practice this god I want to hear your voice internally and quiet down and the more things escalate the more I go to that place of internal stillness you know I don't know what else to call it that's you practice that it strengthens your spiritual reflexes you practice the focus on yes I am here god I am here God even in the totally desperate moments yes say it yes I am here god yes I am here God and that focus when you are like saying those things in you it is not a yoga thing it is not like a universal power is going to come in swooping in the room it is like you saying this is my job to meet you here God right now in this mall say it yes I am here God in Samuel when God was looking for him he said yes Lauren I am here speak speak and it tells God that you are ready it's already heart ready right you strengthen your spiritual reflexes when you are receptive when you have a sensitive heart though God seeks for those hearts he's looking for those hearts that receptivity that heart of sensitivity that heart of adaptability no matter what situation and can you tune your ear to a God who would speak with you it's your attentiveness it's your posture of attentiveness and the last one is is this that you find rest in him that you find restraining in him that you go to him you know if you're if you're if you're going to perform at work or as an athlete you've got to get your sleep and rest but there is a spiritual rest that happens as well and I have I have I've been a student of that spiritual rest of knowing that I can't flail like the fish who's just been caught on the dock and and the fish all the fish doesn't know what to do so just flails around and that does it does it does of it you know that's what we do a lot right we do that spiritually and God says I just want you to find your rest in me just be still be still but it's more than being still goes we can't always be still but it is a spiritual rest it's a spiritual stillness that pulls us in to his presence right and these these exercises coming to him it's strengthens our reflexes so when things start coming at us we pull back to the oh I've got a yes I am here learn what are you saying to me in this moment in this failure and this time I stumbled I'm trying to get up again can you hear me can you get me there I want us to look I'm going to look at look at let's let's let's do some more in proverbs 4 verse 20 it says my son my son paid attention to what I say this is God as father teaching us this is also King Solomon teaching his sons the way to go he goes these parenting us son I want you to pay attention to what I say you know hey you paying attention you paying attention you ever in the room you're ever paying attention it says I want you to turn your ear to my words I want you to know God is speaking and he's asking us to tune in to a frequency that we have to find yes can you find that their frequency for me is found in prayer I go to God and sometimes it's a few words sometimes it's more than a few words sometimes it's found in his written word but it's like he's asking for my attention can you pay attention we folks we don't all have a TD or ADHD or a TD ATT we don't all have that we don't all have it and we don't all have PTSD because that's our fallback for every one of us right not all of it some of us have learned the art of focus and God says hey I've arranged these things and put these things in order and I'm doing it to get your attention can you now pay me attention Sunday mornings are a great time for us to focus and pay attention to what God is having this to say but it will never be everything that you need every day of the week because you have some issues that are personal to you and God is going to meet you in those issues and he wants to correct some things he wants to fine-tune some things he wants to make some adjustments he wants to give you some things that you will never receive if you're not listening do you hear me do you hear me are you listening ha ha ha some of you just want to get out you know and that you're dismissed if you want to get out but if you will stay what could God say to you in this space that you've never heard before honestly you may have heard a message about God speaking I don't know 25 times in your life but God has never told me at 7:30 9:30 at night when I finally confirmed that I was supposed to speak the next day God's ever told me that and he told me I'm gonna do this for somebody Kim somebody is here that I'm supposed to be here if I'm here you're supposed to hear right you're supposed to hear because it's for somebody I don't know that's not just for one person I don't know if this person is in this room but I know I'm supposed to be here and I said god I want to break this open I don't wanna be closed anymore I'm gonna be filled with anxiety and I will obey you and every time you obeyed you move in that space of obedience God speaks he speaks I don't know how it works but I discuss but you have some sin you have to take care of that you have some wickedness and you have to take care of that you have some shame and you have to take care of that right we have to take care of business with God we need to take care of business with God because he wants to take care and make us into complete people you know if you just read the Proverbs before he said I want to make you fit and well it's that word Shalom he was I want to make you completely healthy completely I want to give you love and loyalty love him loyalty how I long for love and loyalty and I've been married and didn't didn't unconditionally love for 33 years but I still long for that love I long for somebody to be faithful to me he says I give you love and loyalty when you're in my presence and you're on that pathway I will make for you faithfulness and for you you get to wear a good name and you get to win honor so that beautiful who would not want honor and a good name and God said you stay on that path if people will recognize you as a person who knows me right and they will know me because of your life can you meet God I don't know why I'm so thirsty I mean I'm just gonna leave the bottle open I don't know I think it's because it's it's a big deal here do not let them those words I love this tune your ear to my words in it in the Hebrew and I love saying the Hebrew that word my you know it remember said God right but it's more than just referring to God it means and I love this I am here yes I am alright there is that inference in that word my because if first it just means my my words okay they belong to God God is speaking but in that Hebrew it's yes I am here words that's for you and that's personal my god to your life yes I am here so that part that that that spiritual strengthening of our resources reflexes to say God I am here he is saying that to us to girl I am here yes I am and I've got a word for you specifically today young man I am here yes I am here and my word is for you today can you hear that maybe we just don't get it our words and our vocabulary is so limited it says do not let them out of your sight let what out of your sight let what out of your sight the words the words and I think okay my mom said a lot of words to me that it didn't make any sense she's in a lot of words and she said that doesn't make a hill of beans that does not worth a hill of beans and I never understood what that Mandan and or it's six of one half dozen of another never understood what that meant either and she would see all these like country sayings whoa but when she got out that belt I knew exactly what that meant exactly what she was trying to say and she would chase me down and discipline me and I'm like okay I've got to remember her words can never be outside of my ears but you know how can words and sight be associated it's words and hearing right know in this context it was words insight it's like God is painting you a picture can you see it and this painting is with words of love in you can you see it let's go on do not put these out of your sight keep them within your heart and the Hebrew heart was the center your core of who you were it was so your emotions your spirituality or your very poor knee goes that's where I am painting my words I'm painting them in your heart can't you see them and they're very personal to you if you ever opened the Bible and you realize oh whoa well that's just perfect for me that is just for me right he's done that thousand times for me and this week as well and he says this it says keep them within your heart for they are what they are life they are life they will nourish you that's what that means nourishment you're gonna need nourishment you are you anemic are you not ever eating the right foods I don't think I ate one right food this whole week I don't think I anything green or orange or red because when I'm in a bad place the first thing that comes out or I'm not even going to tell you it's terrible and so that path goes right straight to SK doughnuts and path goes right straight to the you know in and out whatever thing if I'm not in a good place if my feet are not in that place where I've already been made that path that track for me and I get off a little bit and I'm emotionally I'm emotionally physically completely disconnected to spirituality alright for they are life his words are life they are nourishment to my soul for those who what find them I love that word find them it's not haphazard word it's like you search and you're gonna find something you're going to uncover it you're gonna discover something that God has only for you you're gonna find it can you find it but it's not without work on your part we just sit there we think it's all going to have to be downloaded gone you're just going to have to do it if it's your will your will be done your will be done and if it's going to happen we just pray that it happens put our hands on the TV and lord help it happen but we're not willing to do anything ourselves and God so this relationship is going to be work it's going to be a part of your responsibility as well and you're going to have to find it in to discover these things that said you put it in your heart you know that means put it to heart put it to your memory and when you need it it'll come up out of your soul this words of God that's kind in your heart but it's also written than this book and if you don't have this book if you don't have the app if you don't have something don't wait til it shows up in the life-size form behind me you gotta have it every day because you eat once a week you don't eat once a week right you don't we shouldn't if you do you shouldn't you gotta have nourishment every day of your life right and here and it says you find them and it's health to one's whole body that that that word health is restoration its restoration to your whole body if your body is off if your body is broken if your body is diseased spiritually he says this is gonna be helped my words my relationship with you will bring you back to health it will bring you back to healing I love that that Hebrew word means you are curable you're curable that beautiful your help is to be restored your spiritual help is so very important it's everything if life and death and some of you um it's life and death this morning I really feel the sense that there's life at stake here I don't know how dark it is for you I only know how dark it is for me I don't know how on the verge you are I know that some of you are on the verge of leaving when you need to stay I know that some of you are on the verge of quitting when you need to power through I know that some of you are on the verge of losing when you need to hear God say I will I will conquer this some of you don't know a day without being an addict a day without being uh in prison a my prayer for you today is that you would know that health that he offers you Felix go get help thank you it's okay right what what are you on the verge of your help to one's whole body your curable and above all else this is the good part that buff allows you guard your heart you guard it you protect it for everything you do flows from that heart that beautiful everything you do flows from that heart and so my heart was so filled with anxiety this week that I realize I'm overwhelmed I I can't I can't see a different me I can't see a different future even though it's it's real my future is real I just can't see it why why can't I see it because it's bigger than me and it's bigger than you yes because he's God said I your heart is so important to me that's where he's painting the vision of you is in your heart he is doing something creative that is equal to the creation of the universe in you that is equal who when you were born and he gave you life and blood and health and strength right now he's doing something that important in you in your heart and no one else can paint that vision of you of your future except him and you need to let him do it right because the heart is the very center of who you are and you need to let him do the work the internal work that needs to be done above all else guard your hearts for everything you do flows from it keep your mouth free from perversity because there is a connection between where our feet go what we are doing what we are in taking in our ears and and in our heart and then how it comes out our mouth our mouth is so attached to our heart keep your mouth free keep your mouth free do you hear that when your heart is right your mouth is free free from what free from perversity keep it from gossip and white lies and big fat lies and little lies you keep corrupt talk from your lips let your eyes look straight ahead because your heart your feet are connected to your heart and your heart is connected to your mouth and your mouth is connected to your eyes there's the moment that heart is is off-centered that moing the heart is going in a different direction there goes your mouth you know that there goes your mouth and so I text Arwen I'm sorry when I'm lonely I get mean you know but we forget you know that's that thing too it's reversible sometimes most the time right I hope ya says let your eyes look straight ahead fix your gaze directly be for you give careful thought to the paths this is the path I'm taking this is the choices these are the choices I'm making today I get up I make a set of choices I live by a set of standards it is the direction of my life it is the path it is the course you're going to take that's what that path means and then before you know it you have a life I am sitting standing here at 58 years old and I have a life that I have created for myself and with the grace of God and the love I've created this path and there's no going back that's why it says look straight ahead I promise you as a 58 year old woman who has become kind of down the road your past will never save you it's never coming for you your past is gone you can kill it bury it do whatever it's a goodbye to it it's not coming back and I so longed for the reunion that I would have with my mom I would so longed for that reunion the day my father would come and say it was all a big misunderstanding I really did not mean to abandon you I did not mean for you to be abandoned in that house with no food for so long I did not and I and I so longed for some closure to bring to come to that but no my mom was killed in a car accident and my dad died as well I have I have no closure so what am I going to do with my past and God said I am NOT going to put the pieces back together with your heart so forget that I will give you a new heart and I will keep doing that hard work with you and I will keep coming and meeting you in that heart of yours and I will keep loving you to the very end of the path and we are going to get there and it is going to be glorious today when we get there together but I'll tell you if you don't there's a path that you're to stay on it has everything to do we think oh and is everything to do with our feet is everything to do with your light and so i got into and this is the you know how i had to say really i get into a training last week and and the goal was to hear the voice of god and i wasn't i wasn't really into it but okay i was in a room filled with my team that we're going to Malawi and and we had to pick and we had to listen to the voice of God put our names in a bucket write a letter to someone we did not know whose name we were going to get we hear the voice of God and the God is going to tell us what to write to that person we don't even know who's writing immediately I knew who I was writing to and it was run cook um I just believed that I was writing to him and huh and it came his turn and he read this letter and he said and he opened his name and it was to me and he didn't know who we're at - he says to my friend I continue to ask God what word you need to hear from him he gave me a very specific word and and anxiety continues to come up when I ask I want you to know that God doesn't want anxiety to overwhelm you he wants you to call to cast all your anxiety and fears on him he wants you to experience the freedom that comes with putting your situation in his arms and knowing he will put pull you through not sure who you are but I love how much God cares for you I love how much he wants you and he wants to give you freedom to pursue without holding back anything he loves you he's for you do not fear thank you Ron beautiful the path of the righteous is like the morning sun shining even brighter for a full light of day that's you that's you that's you you know we can't really see it but the Sun is rising you're rising you're rising and God is painting with light on your heart and I don't want you to forego any of the process of anybody that's supposed to speak into your life so don't listen to anybody's voice only those voices that affirm God's Word in your life I want you to be that Rising Sun that shines brighter than the day because I am broken open I submit to God's voice I hear you lord I did my very best I love you guys thank you [Applause] thank you so good how so so good [Music] I feel like him just pulled back the curtain and just let us see inside of her soul and took us to a place all of us need to go and I'm so I'm so grateful for her on this Mother's Day every day but I'm really grateful that she stepped into this moment because I think the guide is trying to speak to all of us in a way that sometimes he just he has to come in through like a side door and when she was share with me the things that God has been saying to her last night like at midnight I'm like why have you told me this why have you told me this and and I was hearing things for the first time of how guides been speaking into her life and how she's been just overwhelmed with anxiety and fear and the irony is that it's connected to God inviting her to bigger and more beautiful things and I just sense that there's some of you here today that you you need God to speak into a very specific area of your life and maybe you're here and you are struggling anxiety it's amazing we live in the capital of anxiety we're just medicating ourselves trying to deal with our depression and our stress and you know maybe we do step back and go there's a piece that Jesus brings that all the medication world is not going to solve so maybe you're here today and it's time to trust Jesus with their life I love the fact that says that when God speaks that you need to see it and how he's speaking into your life and he's painting a picture inside of you of a person you can become can you see what he's saying to you he's painting a picture of a life you can have if you'll trust him can you see what he's speaking to you he's painting a picture of a world you could be a part of creating can you see what he is speaking to you because he's painting it from the inside out he wants that paint to get all over your life so I want you to bow your head to me just for a moment I want you to see what he's speaking to you and maybe you're here in it's time it's time to cross that line of faith and trust Jesus with your life because if he has spoken to you today do not harden your heart just lean into what he's saying and say yes let Jesus make you new today if you're here and you're ready to trust Jesus with your life you're tired of doing it alone and stumbling in the dark and just pray this simple prayer Jesus I give you my life it's so simple it's just the beginning of a conversation that will last forever Jesus I give you my life just whispering right now to God Jesus I give you my life [Music] it's not magic it's the beginning of a relationship but the God who loves you Jesus I give you my life if that's you I want to pray for you what today it's at the beginning of a new path for you a path filled with freedom and joy and hope forgive us if that's your prayer of Jesus I give you my life I want you just to raise your hand right now let me know that right now just hold it up i beautiful wonderful wonderful anyone else Wow right away all over the room anyone else right now just hold it up I may be its unexpected for you you didn't know this is going to happen in your life but God has spoken to you you want to say yes just hold your hand apart say yes that's my prayer today Jesus I give you my life father I thank you for those in this room who have heard your voice you've spoken to them they've heard you offer them forgiveness and love and acceptance and life and today your words are becoming life to them right now this moment I pray that your life would just erupt inside of their souls that you'd begin to paint a new picture of them that their life would be filled with color and brightness with hope the possibility and adventure with faith and freedom I think yet you meet us in our anxiety that you meet us in our fears that you meet us at our doubt to despair and you speak life into us [Music] this is our prayer in Jesus name Amen amen we just thank God for those who respond [Music] so that when we dismiss today are you gonna go out the back and outside there's going to be a next step in a connection area and if you prayed that prayer today Jesus I give you my life we want to give you a gift when I put a Bible in your hand and let you begin listening to what God has to say to you we just think I'd encourage you to start with Jesus start like in the Gospel of John and just get to know that Jesus who loves you who died for you who gave his life for you here's a part of learning to hear God's voice is allowing God's Word to get into your life so we're gonna have one last song by the way you guys have really brought us into God's presence today we were so grateful and so when you leave out after that last song go out there and get your Bible don't be ashamed don't be embarrassed don't be hesitant I heard someone that somebody emailed me said I wanted so badly to go to the next step and get a Bible cuz I've never had a Bible in my life in fact some girl send me email said I saw this guy looking my way and I thought he was trying to hit on me and finally he came over and and said hey could I have a Bible and when I gave it to him he started crying and he said I've never had a Bible in my life been wanting one for weeks but I was afraid to ask so you can go out there and don't be embarrassed this is our joy to give you this incredible gift of God speaking into your life so go out there say hello connect take the next step because this path is not one you should walk alone you need to deal with people with family with a tribe or the community with friends and that's why mosaic is here so I'm so excited by your giving your life to Jesus get out to the next step make a connection some of you need to follow Jesus and baptism last week on Sunday night we spontaneously filled up the baptistry because one person won't be baptized and 34 people were baptized then amazing so I don't know we may actually set the
