Hey except we hope you stop me this is your boy in Milwaukee with DJ efn 100% with me and my partner to the left of me DJ yeah fair we start this podcast we wanted to say that we wanted to salute the legends dude there's so many people that have to have 10 years you have you know 15 years you know 20 years and this game people want to ride you off and people want to tell you you know you ain't you you're old and all that but that's not what we do here we do here's we want to respect our legends we want to let these people know who wanna kill me flowers where they can smell them they trees where they can tell them they thoughts where they can pick them and they drinks where they can drink them and today Wow we have people who I felt like they literally raised me from being for Queens I'd be from down the block from quote I'm from where they from Elmhurst being preview from the frack city I'm just so honored I went in I watched house party again we all just went and just did cuz you don't have this research and I forgot how much that will family I'm starstruck right now today you too so I would like to welcome to King [Applause] [Music] think about Java story salabhasana by the way here's the craziest thing about Java story is play you wanna walk God back then go ahead you looked up back Pappy Mason like those are my heroes no we didn't have the kind of heroes a lot of cats have a day well it was no wraps too hard and from my upbringing you know my father being out there way and black exploitation films and all that I thought that's all it was for she knows that when we see in these ghetto celebrity lies and all that good stuff I thought that's all it was for me because when Katz was in the school you know the fireman and the president of the bank come and talking about how to be successful I don't know about what the heck they were so I was stupid man to God be the glory I dragged them out because I know about what you do and I know you had a close relationship with Bill Moore yes Bill Moore who was a personalized HBO bill more I don't know if I see the name so bill Mauricio information right yeah you say [ __ ] one more time I say [ __ ] Mulligan dinner like a week back bill tells me when I'm not around he's play with kid and play a couple years back I'm the play when a close friend of since like birth since like the mid-90s and you know and I think I was on the finale episode as well then you know he got into that trouble with you know back in the of you know Iraq war days just a fight that you know 9/11 [ __ ] and then he came back again on HBO and I actually did the a couple of buddies in my do the theme music for us which the last year for some reason I don't know it wasn't brought but you know he's been good to me and and you know he's one of those guys that over the years he's kind of taught me a lot he's probably one of the smartest is not the smartest dude that I know so yeah otherwise the guy yeah I think we've had a positive out of kind of impact I've tried to have him enjoy his successful like honestly I don't know politics to his show right cuz I got just I'll just like to smoke weed we smoked ask you a question because you guys could read like we're not waiting now you know I went look back you guys you were like one of the first transistors she's like meaning you guys had an album all and the movie just you just started a movie right after that you know what's so funny the only thing I ever wanted was a single get the women just get us say we good I was good already but that was gonna be like no we don't said I never in my wildest dreams it be a full album videos movies cartoon series a novel comic strip and I was in love Mattel was talking about her toys at one time Reggie Harlan who wrote and directed the original house party was a video director back in the days and he used to chase the meet in particular she chased me down in the clubs because he wanted to shoot a music video on us but we had we had a guy at that time so we were we were cool then one time he stepped in Ian was like yo I got a movie script for y'all so back then it was in our crew like me play and a Herbie Love Bug producer it was it was kind of like my job to read stuff so they they don't we got the script and I remember reading it and I remember coming back and telling this playing hurry I said you know what it's like 70% they're like the structure was really strong the characters were fleshed out it just stands for bridging script for you guys because I heard of jazzy jeff and fresh Reggie and they wanted us to do because it was familiar with our videos that's right they felt it was a good fit New Line Cinema and jazzy jeff because they felt it was a better bang for their to age their bets right but at the time they were suing will and Jeff must rewrite and Jeff remembers like what you crazy wants to do a movie and you suing us so they weren't with it but Reggie and in Warrington always wanted us to jail already originally that conceptually they were always thinking about yeah I mean it was kind of based on childhood friends and I think even with our group each Hill in all of them I think they had a place in it is wait about that line with full force gets so I really joined I felt like it was seventy percent there but but and I thought we could bring it the rest of the way we could hip-hop legitimizes okay and and so you aren't that I urge the you know augers the guys that do what to do it right so but this what happened to his credit Reggie hugman let us do basically what we wanted to he was he was saying stuff like look here's the structure here's the format now if there's a better way to say it to get to where we got to get to it if there's a more hip-hop and a legitimate way to say it do it that way so he allowed us to do that and in particular full force more or less stuff that full force did later all that stuff oh I smell I smell I wanna kick your [ __ ] ass one of the great things that we liked about Reggie because he let us do our thing now if it came to something really really crucial that he thought was crucial to the to the scene or something like that maybe you know he would he would hold a fort on that but for the most part you know he kind of let us do our thing and let you know let the hip hop come out and and little truth be told I didn't want to do the movie because at the time we was making crazy money he was music why and I think and you would think but at that time when people would do commercial days of movies they would say that they great commercial that was my reason he was making great money I'm looking at the history of hip hop in movies cuz while star and we can't forget tougher than leather right see cab pull off of a movie who the hell every thing we are I'm trying to be the business minded one but we had this rule among as called majority rules and her being kid outvoted me it's the best how many we in with a rule we all know just one yeah when we did fun house that was us building off the popular legal reasons we couldn't call it house party so that's why we called it couldn't be this intimate soundtrack Oh nobody likes on the soundtrack to do we actually they were like competing against one another at a time so yeah but look how long your career yeah you career you had a 4-1 that's careers think about it nowadays nowadays music is so disposable what's the record today will not be a hit record bottle summertime you refuse to be a hit record at least for a year or two you have a hit record now you don't lose your video at months now that have to do every week yeah I will say this to some people I think the artists of today kind of kind of you know they obviously have a different outlook on it um you know that you you know the mentality back when was like make the joint sort or take some time off and then run it back nowadays like you said maybe because the music is so disposable these guys just started hitting and hitting and hitting you know how guys like Jay started doing they were just like look as long as we do a hot joint this bump let's don't get him a chance to oh forget about the new era of rappers the way they approach it that I like you know what I'm saying a phrase this I would I like to hit yeah well I mean look I listen to so much new rap come on you know I mean I always have a young dog I listen to a lot of cats I mean obviously you listen to the big ones you know we love the drapes we love the logics and we love the Dane Coles and we love Kendricks yeah yeah yeah and a lot of you know underground castle underground you know send you stuff all the time with moves on that's Laurie real quick young artists take up all the time so are people around I got the computer I listen to the joint man you know the beat is kind of right there man you see me my man because it joint dedicated to y'all Oh sometime so you do the same i determining didn't every day I don't get what you say [ __ ] [Applause] no like how famous that dances like we got to do it in that be in yeah contract for so funny because I was thinking I said you know you lookin dude do to dougie me all these dances come out and I gotta confess I was with dougie last night he killed the crowd with that but I remember when the record record came out into dance became popular like August 2 ended a kitten play kick step just gone but we still good what makes the record what makes this dance last áslaug and it finally hit me it's the only dance out there people send us videos and you see all my videos everybody doing kitten play your mind you do hit a strike at the bowling alley - chainsaw kicking your leg you so you guys certainly came out 88 first commentate my 88 but our first single well last night came out 87 that's almost that's 31 years [Applause] flavors you guys are on toes gonna show a Smokey Robinson I've never had a reason to be in a room with smoke through a suzanne past we used to produce our films but doesn't think and i guess it is a blessing because we're kind of one of those hip-hop groups that you can we go on all rap line up but we also you can throw us on our big dudes like you know we show in Atlanta last year with um Ron Isley yeah keep on and Evelyn champagne King and we'll only rappers on so that's happen a lot over the years [Music] [Applause] to remix it [Applause] [Music] [Applause] powerful the cross of Achilles I never forget when I was in Sunset Boulevard was a restaurant and the one and only Lionel Richie Richie wouldn't even let me talk look as he knew about us YouTube and all and we've had the honor but when you go up and you're trying to tell them how much you admire their work and they cutting you off because they tell me how much they've enjoyed your work it's like surreal you have no idea who is a fan of yours and plays right we we use League come out first with all we do you know with the with the arms I just rolled up on pieces of a dream man and ran down you know Mallory groove then full five four and they're like shot like yo we music lovers man I heard 25 oldies red I'm whole song what's the best me what's the best error in hip-hop to you so every came out so you go 88 up to uh you know go ten years you just use my 88 to 92 then get the rules they came out at that time okay you know what I'm saying and that's like and that's like that's that primarily East Coast but toward the end your name - no Papa no so I kind of I kind of circle that is that a there's a question I always needed to know was Cain talking about yah when he said who's flat top rules in 89 J's and I are great friends yes never come because you know you don't know but this [Laughter] you know but the thing we always I always liked it admired about him was huh can't always appreciated the the thrill of the competition like it wasn't no thief but it's just like yo you know it's almost like this steel sharpens steel man you know his his it's high time loser was a work of art and I think you know if that was anything was a friendly competition you know mine's probably longer but his was it was like clap clap three three cuts in your eyebrow trying to wile out you know I'll play that arrows was Nozomi let me answer some cuz since he brought it up green that the west coast started rising runs a play on the W a man interesting thing was I remember being introduced to their music in LA and I think that the time I could curse with the best of them what I heard that I was like we'd been on every Public Enemy tour like that was the best always one of his on his tour and we just finished this night and I'm one out I'm tired and they come to me with the pitch for the next tour and they got NWA on and I'm like nah man I mean that that's just music yeah when I came down from the after party we ready to get into some women I like that I wanted my famous Pina Colada virgin pina colada but the boss struck down I thought I could use my name like Ella Mae I don't care no more you ain't getting no pina colada so the promoter comes and says you I got to say I'm not doing this thing I say you know what let me be fair if you get me a pina colada I'll do the tour cuz I thought the bar was shut right Darryl Brooks G Street productions comes over with two pina coladas and a half a pina colada and I had to keep my word I'm doing the tour but the reason why they need to be I want to keep my word yes it's like you to the venues for yeah because we're Public Enemy and mwa on the same tour they thought it was gonna be so that's why we're not being a part of that history yeah you know a lot of times you you wearing or you know because you don't know you know no people we didn't know too short you know easy and then we did not drink we didn't know Kiwi not yellow and once we got together first of all I made a mistake and thought it was two different audiences I think the people that mr. became play I'm so wrong Caitlyn was the host so my main point was um to the end we in excuse me we were in Washington and in Philly and East this is public enemy toward the East Coast the west coast because these cause were the really are morning yet right so they'll say there's no education so he struggled a little bit and I remember the last couple of souls even to shore AWA you're saying struggle remember one night do I have a rough night as we all do sometimes and so we backstage and to store ladies that's my man 50 grand I remember him telling saying the TK he said man he said man I'm out of bomb tonight but maybe you bomb history for you say what they want to say in regards to taking a minute to [Music] play you know to this day he was on that when money were to part because he wanted to rap so bad now you really believe it right so at the after party one time we hanging out me and him I go down I'm just there for the women so he wants to get me the buddies he wants to get into mic so he goes out the deejay goes yeah we got my man playing house play come on up to the buzzer yeah but I'm like Tupac is your man going up there let's get up there so y'all not here for that man well just get up there when the DJ gives you the mic I mean we would be down with beatdowns and all of that he had the craziest crush on yo-yo he loved that's a mug but yo you would do anything for yo-yo and use Luke said that G rap is from your neighborhood rappers from Corona and in that rap so he you used you claim them as being from Elmer's when I see two no you know it got confused because a lot of cats would hang out in the house there's a spoken girls they didn't want a clam Corona like that cuz they wanted two girls over there so sometimes the file I could you in like 37 okay you know when you looked at the school district or whatever you would say Corona but come to find out it was Jackson Heights Avenue is safe we considered 32nd Avenue and beyond be up in Corona a horse nas is gone good you worked at Sears yeah used to work across the street work that Sears together and Martin you walked across the street and it has those days I mean can you imagine that's like a billion to one like the clue heard me like all of us yeah all of us that's crazy money and then y'all actually Chris Sacca and Bernie Mac is like yar discovery oh I wouldn't say that I mean they have their first movies you know their first Chris Tucker first movie was house party three very back first movie with they have what Bernie Mac was this is a piece of history Martin didn't want to be in house party 3 and we Nollywood yes but we're getting painted I'm like yo we need some star power we need some comedy power in this joint I went to go see to the premiere of who's the man the screen I said this could be Robin Harris's brother complexion the hole man at all manner so I told him cuz he was day I said dude I'm gonna get you in house why I'm gonna get whatever I resources are named Susan sum up that new line lady one of the VIPs and I told ya you need to get into this needs to happen did you need to have like my Bernie van the next thing I know yeah they happen yeah yeah so it was definitely early career and I remember I used to see I used to watch Chris Tucker when he came out from Atlanta and watch them do stand-up Hollywood at the Comedy Store in particular and you called me said yo trust me on this we had we were about to shoot this scene the next day and you say human we got nobody being got me though the manager for the stripper beat me and got me a nobody man so we got nobody he's gonna perform and I was like I just see money at the Comedy Store man you know today and Kristen just got offstage so I stepped on you know so I said yo man come down to the set tomorrow you know what I'm saying we got you there's a part for you man just went down there did the one scene you know I mean stole it with the scene you're on me and then his next movie after that was Friday because now Nuland was young Chris Tucker like fresh out of Atlanta was electric electric man and I kind of knew yeah and this and that goes back to another thing that I was talking about or kind of kind of inching toward these house party movies especially toward the end babe we get we get most of the credit but there was lots of good people made and then we wanted that we don't wanna you know we want everybody to shine because then they other lives in the movie everybody wins so some people so when we wanted Martin to come back to the house party together but you gotta let him win you know we told him put four fours in a house party too because I mean because it ain't broke why are you taking away let's add let's add to it so oh the causes of the three house parties in a mood like class act we were always trying to load up on the talent and if you meant giving people opportunities that hadn't had opportunities before right is that true LeBron James is doing a new we make of house part it's the word that's the word I'm word on streets [Music] he has to call ya'll [Music] we own house party but we don't own it that's new line so I mean that it's obvious that they kind of bonded together and to formulate it they got good people with it brother yeah I'm just concerned because it's a different time in this world you know when you came out what house partied in it was relatable everybody know about the house party that I was going down south dis that look at just put that where we got today you know I'm saying it's clubs such as long you know that [Music] you would not get that was the word in Queens they was like Gilman then you were like the first restless night the first Wesley Pipes [Applause] it's it's dude this dude was yeah a terror oh yeah you know place overplayed and bought those books in school but that's what helped me a lot with that you know we kind of help you get a lot of game because my game was hey that's why we do is really know that is funny because when we first got out on the road we had to share a room together low budget situation they used to call a sit and clay they would never get our names right you know out of mine and he beat some girl and come to the room Layton who wait for the phone to ring cuz she's supposed to call him when she got home safely good in school learned how to talk is from just do because schools got done with me are designed flush and hi Hillcrest hi Brian with this guy I got taught him how to cut school dough mine and we there's crib and jeopardy would come on I yes all my children women knows and watch the soaps when I cut out the inter-party see a girl one to get excuse me but do you know what happened ever cocaine and saw so today you watch the soaps yeah you know my little tender side don't try this that's the real component right here the girls like damn they got me yeah like he looks like a cuddler whatever like inside competition with between you and saw a couple of being that it was like y'all was the exact opposite version of each other memo we helped each other like you know I'm saying they're mean you know I mean that too because the first thing was really well I was in the Trent video yeah then we were in shake your thing you dance would let me shake your thing yeah you but the thing was kid help with the lyrics help her reform that I own with the outfits and the gear the pushing jackets all of that kind of stuff so and they helped us man believe me forever yeah early some pepper videos you see us all up in there you know and then what we detective everybody get up but this is this is the idol makers wait you know Herbie Herbie is a conglomerate at that time because it was always the strong helping the weak so put us on one second because um play says sold nonchalant he was like he you help with deliveries why do you think back in the days like Big Daddy Kane with out front right for Bismarck he would make it be known I mean easy he has a line on his lyrics he says Ice Cube right the rhymes that I say and you just said like what so a couple of days but that did that was not frowned upon but now you know he I heard you mention drink it's not earlier now I wouldn't looked at your interviews you mission Drake a lot like I saw I know that you like training but why do you think it was so why do both of you guys I'm not just you but why do i man what you guys think that it's so frowned upon like when a person like Drake status here like today right you know what our our clique our crew was was a community and it was everybody pitching whatever you would say on the song pesto I don't make his camp they entertain Kwame suite team but what was the intention the intention was to get the people up and dance you know a my all means necessary if you had a clever line or something that's gonna copy it in the brownie studios and we all it's a party in the studio well the great thing about back via the juice crew yeah I don't make as crew the boogie whatever I had these crews in the first lady of the cruise well as tough but it was a competition iron sharpening iron we all wanted to be unique in our way who's gonna do this go and do that so I think it was the intention I think the intention today is different I don't think it's the same agenda I don't have a problem with cats having ghost riders and stuff like that man because what you still gotta you still gotta make a sound what's the different between a rapper in the Dead Sea yeah that's what domes into that right thing but now a rapper all the time - I'm gonna take it can be in it's one thing brainstorming and loaning a line versus writing the whole song what if Brazil helped set it straight was did his line don't worry about me write write write checks well we have these producers on here no dude I did he said yes he was so what happened was he said that every artists are stills he said every artist stole man we said not everybody as a journalist but Vasquez was there to harassing us was like the old me know even what not every artist has slowly with them what about you mm-hmm as I posted that I read my comments which I don't I don't read my comments cuz I like to be sane yes mam but this the first time I they read my comments and a lot of people were agreeing with him yeah everybody's they they said some way he was seventeen it's a matter of semantics to like he's saying that yes have you borrow anything no standing next to big may jay-z better and it may James which I think there's to taste when someone's really dressers like this under the wholesale cuz in with so many in comedy that is liked almost standard like like almost standard to have a writer run around with you well not always if you're if you're it's super high levels you know like Bill Maher cuz I have it hard yeah you you you there's no way one man can create wealth absolutely worth it yeah yeah Gilmore has writers year-round right you know what I'm saying year-round for not only the TV show but when he does his live performances so these so they're always giving them fresh new political stuff in when whatnot and and Kevin I'm sure the same way he has a real tight talented crew right I mean and and so that's what Eddie Murphy you see how much of a genius and even Robert Townsend wallet and a will click man and a oh he is something funny is hard to create all that content by yourself so what happens is you're you're with people that are like-minded you know I'm saying like crazy this man I mean be around all of them man just come meetings out there's nothing serious you have a friend you know a friend comic blocks your set and watch some lemon to a lot of times they'll give you what's called a note like hey man you know you know they're talking to about such a such your world at the end once you say battle and you know and say to make it pop like a little bit more and we've all been DW of the mindset like I don't care if it's funny the visible making joke that's my point in regards to going back to writing lyrics back then if it's what is going to people to get up and dance that kind of line and you thought she was like well you know it's so funny because I remember having a meeting with Andre Andre Harrell's and I was like yo let's create beats and let this be a beat to represents foreplay cuz I was the name of my joint plan I had the clothing during foreplay because when dad got caught up with their home it's green and Tyson situation like this right now but anyway the interesting thing wasn't about to lose my train of thought was the fact that all y'all going to the stylist yeah stop a dance down [Music] you always do it all the time I had to live there at that shop cuz you know yet all of Africa to develop but that wasn't known for being on time with your gear so I heard was like yo man you gonna have to just stay here all night whatever cuz we had to get those jackets and the mural I did this on the back of that push today I had to be on a plane to get them they're out I think we did that in Florida the push it on the thing so technically on the saw like the first puff daddy oh I know what I was gonna say now the thing about it Andre and I we were talking about doing a thing with gear and he's like play I really don't see that then you got Wu Tang to did it yeah like for example when Martin Lawrence was hosting def Comedy Jam [Applause] we're partners at the time I did the designing we have this idea because african-american college line that allegic line are Chris make you always think about people going to college I'm a dropout we've all the people they didn't finish school we need to come up with a line that represents those that are still good even though you didn't go to school so we said school we came with the idea on the 59th Street bridge and traffic going into Manhattan and I said school of hard knocks and we came up with the line of naming all the artists from Queens and Rapids we knew too didn't finish school and that's how that thing blew up and then the things was going on crazy of my life we always you know you know is your big guy I love okay you could tell them think again what about a type of glasses [Applause] let me try to find them and I came to mind I say he's efficient but I can't find his glasses I know you dig deep I was more of a sneaker head I mean I'm still I still am too sir okay you know I'm saying but not like not really bringing the puppies up now I wonder who's on the street pony is pio is acronym all the things from being a rapper even though you knew you touch the comedian world what made you say I wanna do stand over standards part of the roughest of the kameez right bar you go straight to your HBO stand-ups restroom well this is the thing um the back story is I was actually hosting a TV show on a syndicated TV show called your big break it was actually like the precursor to American Idol they're like you know if you can sing you know you sing a cher song well we're gonna put you in one and share gallons and dress up the set you do all those in that right so it was a show a show a hosted for a year and but then I got fired I was like look so yeah I got I got fired from after the first shields Dick Clark show and they sent they fired me by my letter and and then I end up getting replaced by Alfonso Ribeiro right though the only black guy whiter than me so so I was like out of work it was like it was like that you know cute play was was cold at the time you don't say I was on the left coast he was back keys I wasn't really do anything I need I need it as I needed a spark and with two good friends of mine Tommy Davidson and Bill Maher they urged me to do going to stand up and actually Bill Maher brought me on The Oprah Winfrey Show oh my gosh I never did stand up because it was a show called funny people and who they think are funny so you had a deal usually brought on some more Jon Stewart brought on come Louis black and Bill Maher brought me on and said hey man this is one of the funniest guys I know and that on around so that's kind of I got started but what I found out ultimately was having dinner rapper really helped prepare me for stand-up there's that thrill well it's well first of all you already know your way around the stage I mean every comedian tell you man half the battle is just feeling comfortable on stage and comfortable in front of strangers uncomfortable in front of fans man we'd already done hundreds of thousands people you just got to make sure that the material is tight then it's unique to you and to me if you talk about you know Tommy Tommy and Bill Maher you know two of the Great's and they literally kind of forced me I mean if you talk about if you talk about comedian idols I mean you know everybody the Richard Pryor Tom you is one of the oh yeah like you know kind of manic and and over you don't mean real quick off the top and stuff like that so he was a great great influence and and they know and bill somebody has best greatest build was behind that so um it felt comfortable like almost off the RIP I know what I'm saying what did you think when you reset to you liked your play over dude I just heard he was doing common know how much he makes me laugh I just hope it translated do don't audiences know I was good with it I heard he was like Bigfoot there were sightings of him he's here's this club he's early did you see him one I did see would he hosted that show uh no but I got a question do you might remember when will Smith tried to do standing talk about its supposed eases came out with sneakers and they were caught and Jesus Wow all right you're gonna love this and I'm crushing it dude I'm crushing it Thursday crush it right crushing it and back then I used to bring our DJ DJ whiz I used to bring it with me you know it's almost like on a soak in Capri stuff you know play play though it does this double kicker Brito we'll get to that later Jeff Lynn please leave a play the comedians on playing kind of wrap so would come with me so with with me that weekend so I'm feeling myself man sat down and said minimal try this brand new job I'm feeling I was watching TV using gas so um I said hi I'm gonna pick up stick spot right in the middle so come on out crush it up so now's the time to do the brand new jokes so I say hey man mind you in Little Rock Arkansas I said man I was watching on TV today my license religious program and I don't know if you guys into my boy bands at all but you know they got a real religious boy band out man there are these guys man they have their first race it was called Jesus he's so neat they put nails through his arms and as to his people and I just lay it like this and the audience I look at the core of my eyes and I can see with whittle down below with leukemia said why did you that's how you have to learn now it's like it's like y'all abs had did a 360 because in the beginning the oh yeah I think yourself call yourself a nerd like that and then you were like the cool kid you were a street kid you actually wanted to pursue you know the street like even more than if you remember back then when you went to jail cuz your celebrity and to come closer stupidity then you know what y'all life is like 360 now because he got something called kid in blazed you want your own joy there's a work night called cannon blaze young and you are actually a born-again Christian believer yes sir for you for people that just to cut right to the chase man we just get everything you want did you think it's gonna be fulfilling gonna be happy no my ex-wife is right yeah homes and car yeah it's like all of that good stuff sorry hello y'all come to America I mean come on I want to be using these buying Benzes buddies doing benders and BMWs and Porsches I'm like I gotta go bigger than these cats what do I because it's like try be back to the bench [Applause] it just got to the point where it's like yo this isn't doing it this is like around 12 minute it's like what more do I need to do whatever and I'm saying you gotta cross into that dark side type stuff now something called the Illuminati making deals grouches was so scared I was like Tim I was like I gotta be kids idea to come here cuz I smoke weed on every episode so I was like but then when you didn't decline and you just came I said damn he's done you look cool like turned over questions but you know there's some people that go take it too far they'd be like yeah I mean I went through that stage two liars in Jamaican we're like vote for his size a little bit we have we have a relationship and most of them have is like there was no casting call for a kid there was no casting call for a play we can finish each other's sentences we can if I'm not able to be able to call for a business deal or vice-versa we could so it's like you know it's just natural organic type thing I mean it ain't perfect we go you know without company yeah it's like it's all good and it's like for me I just want people to be themselves man cuz that's where we got a what if it's gonna be any kind of change it's gotta start from that it just be like trying to be something you're not but spark it up man yeah um lemme know this before you guys leave no we definitely wanna know cuz and I was trying to bring it up before is it when you guys did the movie stuff yes sir if there's anything that artists could learn today the way you guys structured those situations that do you do you see something from those movies today oh yeah let me not people you know we might have took them for great hours no you got 60 and he got 30 no I got 31 I got 30 I think because you were like an owner on the clock so I had a little more screen time than him that was like nobody was getting nobody I think is the cause of our situation that a lot of companies said no we will never let that happen again with our we want to have everything if you do movie is your images right the first movie they didn't have that one up so and I think that their friend Renee oh good friend Mitch select records great guy but he let that slip through the cracks I think he kicks himself would not you know cuz no one thought production credits in the following films eventually situations where people to learn from those situations the type of input that we had and and thank thankfully that director the directors and the producers gave us would be considered producing today described you know he's mine and Burning Man is inviting the shoot Oh your rebate to the ban you know right and all the wraps all that do that's producing today so no know what you're worth know what talents you were bringing to the table because of that we didn't they they took for granted look it all came out and thirty years later we still had you know doing our thing but just know exactly what these the details are of what you're expected cuz that yeah well we were doing back then that's that's production me like some luck you could break this won't do when job did that's DJ yeah I think that Martin um he did he was the DJ for Martin's Def Jam thing but prior to that but you did the thing but that's ticket reason why she goes no no no let me tell you what happened huh we did a couple of different burns the one of like the first couple of years that's me sounded like Capri baby boom I you know I can do it now my yeah yeah that was me and I apologize complete another sandal called you respectful Capri I didn't I didn't sample him we didn't send him off the top so I know and I knew I could imitate again like after the second year I was like man just booked a free bag in there for precise not dude fresh toy he'll tell you this did he ever ever did was with us ever ever did cuz it was time we said y'all wanted to DJ's whiz and yeah somebody liven up the crowd all night but the only thing about him he refused to fly artist or me being a part of a group right even though even though it's to us right Noriega you guys are killing play it's kinda hard to stick stick together when you grow apart what you see is still the same kids that you remember like how what was the worst walk worst part a kid in play as y'all relationship as famous people because our friends prior to that I think there's only one think of one it's not bad oh by the airport because if you blow it up you know I think for Los Angeles man fact and Jeff Christie was with a shot at the Jeff Christie thing was but you know we will button his I think we waiting on a car and the car was come and you say you gotta go here you know we had to get separated by Jeff Christie and you remember there was they were like fans that was like a million freakin years ago yeah but let me tell you something let me ask y'all question right do you realize how famous y'all are oh I don't you don't totally do what I think you want to hear I really don't and I'm kind of glad for that because you know get the ego and all of that kind of stuff like that but as just now kind of recently like last night I was at the black X I mean Radio 1 and BX both shout out to Cherise Malik Malik I and I did what I had to do premiering a documentary about dances and hip-hop and all right and I go to hang out and guy grabs me in a yoke and won't let go like three minutes is allen iverson just talking about how many much influenced my character I met on him on being cool and in other people in the business is coming going y'all and it's funny because back then cats wouldn't tell you that you know how we all do now is we got an older and humble and appreciate life more we come up to each other say yo no need to know what this meant to me well you know what I'm saying right so now I'm beginning to get it like I wasn't big on legend an icon and all I start working on it but like last night I'm with Grandmaster Kass and I'm with yes that's living legend drink chips is about and I just want to reiterate that that's that's what I saw there was a lack of I feel like when a person in time when a person has 10 12 15 years in this game they we write them off as opposed to we're in rock and roll and they just celebrate them they celebrate them good and I think our culture has to take change that that's why a lot of people come to me and they want me to interview new artists because industry man is one word ageism cuz the colors all the colors yeah but when it comes to this it's like wow like really initiative doesn't go together to your point you know the young rappers they roll up on us and they show us mad love you feet you know where we're together or and they so mad love and we appreciate it because ours right but I just try to we just try to tell them take amen we you know our participation you know you know our work is kind of done Joseph we're gonna get we're on their walls you know wherever you want to put us now you got the ball you got the bag now you got the other ball what you gonna do with it you gonna fumble it at the one but you still gonna be here 15 20 25 years to you okay you said something that just bother me you just said they don't have to and the thing about it is kid that's that's something that we gotta take out of the culture I think they should have to I think that if if a person is a two man group and a person has not reached up accomplishments or accolades I think they should they should be asking you the time to throw the roses at your feet what time we really gotta gonna show cuz we rather than nine yeah yeah gosh I want to take this time personally on behalf of kid and I - thank you all right because you've gone through some things yes that goes internal cost and I'm hearing this thing about nori and his podcast but this thing has become the talk line I made on some Breakfast Club maybe huh and congratulations [Applause] seriously Dan Samui 21 because we just realized this is last thing we realize that hip-hop has to have a platform to salute hip-hop you notice I've said at the end of the day but our culture has to continue and and the older weekend in this game it should be like the tribes in Africa the older you get the water you semitone so you know I love it that it works because you guys big shout out man we love we love the show you doing what you do it now that we get to talk to you about it and realize how whole mindset behind it and it's perfect it's right on time you're teaching the children that's right anytime so music efficient let's drop at a young girl thank you so much for your time [Applause]
