Still canโ€™t believe how badly Wichita got boned w drawing Kentucky in the second round. Outside of some mediocre Tubby yrs. Iโ€™d imagine an 8 is the lowest* seed theyโ€™ve had in the last 30 yrs.

Man that WSU squad was nasty. Clean Tony, Scott City and FVV. Selection committee is cruel. Kentucky had all that crazy preseason hype and couldn't live up to it until it mattered

back in here in st. Louis where there's already been a shocker today Stanford over Kansas and now the Wichita State shockers the undefeated number one seed is about to take on Kentucky the winner to advance to Indianapolis and the sweet 16 a matchup Friday night against Louisville Greg here an old point guard and what a national championship and I want to hear your take on what to watch for as you see the five freshmen starters were Kentucky and the Wichita State five led by CLE Anthony early who gives them 16 points a game take a look at the officials Stewart Reed and Gaffney and what is it we'll be looking for as far as not just dribbling it but what are you looking for out of Andrew Harris well well tempo is going to be big in this game you know both teams are terrific defensively Kentucky not as efficient in the open floor as they're probably gonna need to be today that and that's why Harrison's gonna be big his ability to get them easy baskets and the open war is going to be incredible this is poll be out too early and Baker physical team from Kentucky young but strong and tremendous size every starter at Lee six-six discipline is going to be possessions like that one late in the shot clock because we force a lot of bad decisions at the half-court bands late was the one who's fired here is Andrew Harrison James Young Wichita State believes unless you guy to watch until watch it this matchup with Harrison and vans Lee but savvy and crafty in terms of anticipation for on the shot clock [Applause] much of the way had 18 in the game against Kansas State now they go to Kobe the team told me it's off the mark [Applause] for the foul and a really good start for the young wild Pat's good execution in the halfcourt offensive ly solid and sound offensive as well and solid and sound to describe Greg Marshalls program the exceptional coach in his seventh year in 2012 and then a year ago went through the list and went to the final four and now Kentucky he's forced into a turnover and then you got Coach Cal one of only two coaches to lead three different schools to the Final Four Calipari Pitino ten sweet 16s and four five in his career across new bass Memphis and Kentucky early summer no Wichita state's business first three garrison driving with the left about those transition opportunities who takes advantage of them I think is going to be big today and that's a terrific job my heresy in the Oversoul Harris is not showing any effects here at the starch Baker Baker hits the shot I'm getting goosebumps watching this games that you really hope to get an opportunity to be a part of Kentucky they faced adversity all season long at Wichita State they face doubt in terms of being on the Vita and whether or not they're worthy number one soon they face down all the way right up the tip-off I mean it's out there and they know it and they're using it to their advantage they played with a chip on their shoulder because everyone wants to doubt the ballot validation in terms of whether or not they're good and that's a great example there defensively 505 their silence on the floor as early [Applause] Wichita State for me here Andrew Harrison he is as good as anybody at using his size even though he's only a freshman he really understood and he's not gonna ever blow by you he's going to get his shoulder into your chest and use his size to play over you speaking of size the shockers bring in some size and shadrock Shadrach Bluefield had good minutes Friday night and a lopsided win over town smiley here he is working on a freshman when you look at Wichita State that surprises physical they have great size on their front line and they also again that they execute so well in the halfcourt get it down low three no Baker lashes in loses the handle back to the Wildcats when you talked about that experience we've got the senior working on the freshman nice little swatch right through there then the pump fakes sets him able to finish in traffic [Applause] drives in pits it down for example just understanding angles and utilizing size it's interesting they suck Andrew Harrison output Poythress him [Applause] unexpected stars coming off the bench with a quick floor while he's come into the game he's giving him a spark in the shockers in Wildcats in a heavyweight bout Stanford was master the tournament at 2008 made the sweet 16 again take a look right here I'm circling that because this is early office they're gonna go big on the big screen here early in the office and you see right here just take a look at Brandon he's got a show help here when the car gets green he doesn't recognize that the fire Johnson yet is yet that's early office and that's something Wichita State is very good at so Lu field will have the free-throw attempt the foul on Johnson his first [Applause] see you unable to get the three-point play [Applause] [Music] [Applause] you talked about the feel boys could be that kind of player the great energy image but he gets an early basket he seems to be far more age defensive [Applause] we're top scorer averaging 16 a game [Applause] he's not allowing them to catch it where they want to offense me but you kind of see a lot of this double stack broke Kentucky they working fight they may try to really take advantage late the shot clock Willie cauley-stein on the floor for Kentucky to the shoots [Applause] [Music] [Applause] a lot of this game I think which team executes best late in the shot clock it's really difficult to defend 30 seconds in the shot clock and then not break down at the end that was a solid job by the shoppers Nick Wiggins goes on to the floor which is brother accident about 40 minutes ago in defeat the Jayhawks eliminated earlier today Nick the seniors on this Wichita State team and Baker was trying to send it down there on a bounce pass that was kicked out by Harrison you know we talk a lot about Wichita State and you see Nick Wiggins there and what makes them good they're an excellent screening team as well that's something that doesn't show up sophistical II mean but they do a great job of setting screens and creating opportunities in the halfcourt field [Music] [Applause] vote zero wants to know are you real fan hashtag proven visit the Coke Zero social arena they March Madness live there Willie cauley-stein he's going to be important to a terrific shot blocker [Music] Wichita stage but once you ass on here which Aaron Harrison piece that's sometimes all you need when you're Kentucky to see the few shots go in early to get your confidence Aaron Harrison three out of three from the field that's seven of their 11 G while with field three players around those what he does best blocks it over a hundred on the season [Music] that's another three for the Wildcats already [Applause] [Music] what a great start to this game [Music] and both teams making plays it's really good with the basketball he's one of those guys in a terrific shooter bring back in the starter Kobe feel Navin good minutes off the bench three-point play Evan Wessel comes and his family steeped in Wichita State athletic history grandfather played basketball at the school his dad was a football player here's Baker he started his 50th game of his Wichita State career on Friday he's 48 and 2 only losing in last year's Missouri Valley Conference tournament final and last year's final for all the rest wins I'm always watching genius Randall in terms of his activity and while he's overdue from the floor he doesn't have three assists and two rebounds histology he's not forcing again we get signed to the Wildcat Randall it's Harrison driving I see no effects of that paper extended elbow ready for the challenge I like is they're taking the shots they wanna take not what it's Wiggins wide of that mark Randall pushes it up the floor ten Harrison last not miss until now [Applause] already scored on one dribble Drive gives it up the Wiggins we fouled on the way in cauley-stein [Music] opponents today shockers wanted a piece of Kentucky and the Wildcats won in that undefeated season here in st. Louis game we'll see just how much they've grown moving home Nick Wiggins and the line to shoot two averages five points a game [Applause] shockers right now without early on the floor more badly three subs we're gonna make some changes if he makes his free-throw right here and scale early on I made the point about Randall about how good he's been at being under control here early on and now that we got the Harrisons involved let's see if he can now start his office he's got a mismatch on him let's see if Kentucky can take advantage Wendell's put up two shots discompose Russell a little too much aggression trying to battle him for position and bleep returns for Baker these are the moments and stretches of the game were Wichita State undersized that certain positions can Kentucky take advantage or do they become wasted opportunities again this Randall and Wessel and s 2 consecutive calls against muscle and see Russell's got a hunger stand he's done his job look look how far out he's got to go catch the ball right there if you made him catch it there as a defender you've done your job because now you're healthy things can play a factor you don't have to keep battling you're just trying to make it where he can't just catch him though mm 10 seconds it's his home Harrison to heresy steps inside sends it back out [Applause] [Music] [Applause] like harder clean the nice play by Darius board he's got 27 blocks on here but a little bit of risk but good effort there to prevent the past Randall was making the drive and it's called on you look at it statistically Randall has a score but look at the impact he's had he's already drawn three fouls in the last possession in essence alone so you're getting your team closer to the bonus and you've also changed the rotation with Wichita State that claw was actually switched over to Ben please his first double up on random soft double back out and Harrison the question marks coming in [Applause] he's got seven points and he's three out of three from the field and Randall has four assessment that's right they're using his talent to make his teammates better with Wiggins working that baseline outside to copy drive by Wiggins baseline drift by cotton toward the triple that Lord sub-zone [Applause] stay going back to the lanthum and again just trying to mix the defenses up and late almost came away with the theft Aaron Harrison [Applause] competing look at the effort there to hustle they packed with the steel and a good job by Harrison really to prevent the basket just did enough to bother him or he couldn't get the finish now on Andrew Harrison first and this young man at the line junior from the Atlanta area Marietta to kale Kaka come on this team need to embrace the moment doubt about it Defensive Player of the Year in his conference and you see has some wholesale substitutions Polson coming in and he's going to be pretty critical because he plays much bigger than his six three size and that's going to have to be important when you look at the size on the perimeter for Kentucky young six six the Harrison twins six six and so his impact on that end is going to be big Kentucky at a four point it's biggest the Shockers I'll be back ahead by one dakari Johnson [Applause] the misdemeanor Bob a bleep and they're finished by the big fella really what happened on this place Fred vanvleet has been timing the dribble of Andrew Harrison and that's what you have to do as a smaller player he's getting a rhythm to how Andrew Harrison runs off those pick and rolls now you want to see if Andrew Harrison can make the adjustment okay all right baby well you figured out my a move now I gotta go to plan B in order to be able to task you we're in the frontcourt a 7-point run by the Shockers young tough shot got it too cold we can do that sure can he did it against Kansas State hit some really tough shots he has an ability to make shots under the rest really the Harrison twins as well [Applause] 10 on the shot clock now VanFleet those pass Randall's [Applause] cuz they were running a lot of pick-and-roll action in Calipari switchy those that's how you saw Randall get isolated on badly and he was able to take him in [Applause] [Applause] Aaron Harrison to the pain [Applause] nothing there brings it back out job transition defense there if I could suck you on that possession maker and goes to Kentucky seven different shockers have scored in this game Wichita state's up by three the downtown skyline of st. Louis Kentucky is not even attempt at a free-throw thus far but Andrew Harrison out of three from the field Jim if there was any concern about the ELMO he put that to bed early really good if getting into the lane and then also showing the versatility from beyond the arc here with the triple Aaron Harrison will bring it up give it up to his twin we talked about it earlier you can win the battle the last 7 to 10 seconds of the shot clock in the halfcourt [Music] arason again that's his first Miss [Applause] they're not a bad look by Hansen but the help here the altar the shop Shadrach who feels back on the floor and Brazil also the shoppers of early baskets [Music] [Applause] [Music] they're just the patients and the execution and waiting for the moment to attack drive it in and going back out with it [Applause] [Music] [Applause] worthless [Applause] boy this is flying over the in photographers the Aaron Harrison driving in hit the floor watching his elbow so we got the twins both dealing with right elbow issues and that's what they say about twins right Billy right down to the same joint so 11 to stretch for the Shockers great help though by cauley-stein probably the best help defender in this game reach back and not the Lisbon now fans because it [Applause] they say it's going folks that's an example there where anticipation makes you quit and you see they below get that deflection I thought it was awful and leave they're frustrated at that wasted opportunity never had possession then bleats so they shot clock was not reset on a change of possession was done his job drawing attention now it's time for him to put his impact on it's more like that right there handles frozen basket that's an example of letting the game come to you not forcing it early you know give me the feel for how you're going to be defended figuring out the areas that you're going to be able to attack he's been really really patient here today [Applause] great read by Baker [Applause] [Music] [Applause] you see the difference in these two teens at times the patience of angry so wait to the last moments of fine Anthony Lee Anthony early on that finish what a beautiful delivery inscribe before the shot blocker can get there 15 4 run by the shockers before they head back to Palo Alto while all the celebrations and all the nods for their upset win over Kansas the Stanford Cardinal taking in a little basketball here I tell you why still they have been so impressive with the two wins they've had here this weekend now let's see if Kentucky can regroup a little bit in the half court just getting a little too frustrated early did a terrific job remember we talked about Wessel earlier he already done his job he pitched he'd already forced him off the block now you just play basketball because he's at a position even if he catches it the help can get to him as long as you don't let him catch a deep down on their block that's where you susceptible to be an attack 101 terrific job defensively there borrow 50 team foul on Kentucky Wichita State inside and young it's a hand on wait was burst remember we talked about Wichita State being a really good screen team again that was an excellent rub off the high post and in cotton with the trust to make the delivery there to Van Vliet and Lee I overheard him yesterday talking before a throng of reporters he was speaking so respectfully about Kentucky about the size and the talent but as an aside they're gonna have to guard us too though this recent sequence here they're shooting 61% from the field they have been finding ways to find seams against that Kentucky you know one way to tell how good they are and a half court obviously the fact that cauley-stein doesn't have a block you know that tells you that not only do they execute but they make the right reads and this is where now the young Kentucky team this is an important especially because they're not you ability they get quality possessions [Applause] hold on Andrew that's his second one of those plays we try to do a little rub hand off and you give a little hip check just to ensure that you can get the hand off there you know until about the 12-minute mark we made a little comment during one of the breaks it seemed like Kentucky was cohesive first day more perhaps than we've seen in this year yes a couple of times we never seen hasn't been that way for a long stretch and that's the difference is typically though they give us a lot because they're so good defensively but this Wichita State team execute well so they're gonna talk times make you pay for the mistakes that you make and there is a block sorry Johnson got a hand on us [Applause] by Portsmouth he does bring energy and he does that a good decision in the open floor I thought by James getting to the teeth of the deep [Applause] her alleged possession for the suckers [Applause] yes [Music] we got the under four timeout and it's Wichita State right now with the seven-point lead 312 we go first half for the right to go to Indianapolis the Flyers the Cardinal one of them will be one game away from the Final Four after they decide their battle on Thursday night and I want to meet the person who has that on their bracket here you find them let me guess dumping it down to commerce down that's good execution that's something I like to see more I think Willie cauley-stein can be more of a factor offense will be terrific post entry there and then the gather and the finish with contact by the big fella the big fella who carries the hyphenated name as a tribute to his mom Anna's dad former All State wide receiver in high school in the state of Kansas something similar exactly with your - and his name as well that went on to win a masters Hampshire could that be the case for the Wildcats who knew years ago inside and off the glass for two quarter don't hop on it was that experience by Carter the [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] no idea that he was there that's right no he was behind otherwise you used to reverse there if you knew boisterous was on the chase [Applause] two minutes to go in the half the freshman Karl Johnson drives in and is able to get the foul call against Carter great kick ahead there and you notice he has no idea dump that or you come out on the other end for the reverse as it can get and he talked about a gym that energy boy throws has brought it that's been important here for the Wildcat Poythress who started 31 of 33 games last year he's better reserved this season bringing many occasions what we see here today is spark Johnson again long set draws the foul and it call it on Colby coming up AT&T at the half and Craig Clark Kenny and Charles talk a little bit more about Stanford's big win plus they'll take you behind the scenes with March Madness confidential Creighton it's all coming up AT&T at the half a really good game against Kansas State but he's really had a good stretch here enough so they moved him into the starting lineup you feel on the floor for the shockers dakari in New York area kid from Brooklyn although his mother did move to Lexington during his middle school years and he lived right in the shadows of the campus for a while we feel saves it to van please [Applause] and we got a timeout and our the officials [Applause] don't see anything not a sink with the shot clock I think that's what it was because I think they're trying to tell me if when Wichita State that possession which will tell you where the shot clock would be I gotta tell you this to me yeah it's not necessary it's not going to be the difference of a second or two in any way but I won't say this though Jim and I agree with you but it is the last two minutes in a game that in essence is a two possession game we might look back on a moment right now that could have had an impact on the outcome they're just trying to determine a stakes when possession was game and so you see here they don't have possession the shot clock starter is a viewer it's a second but how many times that you got a game partner or one second to get a shot off everything was it was at the end of the game I would say it's more critical if it was the last 30 seconds and a half I would buy it but to stop the game for a minute and a half already as the teams are in rhythm it's a possession we're talking about a second year folks but maybe a better solution is to have someone you know another official on the sideline to help you know facilitate these decisions so that the break isn't so long it shouldn't take this long this should have been about 15 seconds at the most the man ruining the shot clock possession seconds do matter so I would prefer you err err on the side of getting it right because we don't know what's going to happen the last few seconds up this wasn't a game clock Edition it's just a shot clock it's just a matter of the shot clock only and we got it we got it thank you yeah so they're adding two seconds but it shouldn't take that long I'm talking about a game clock situation in effect Kentucky or Wichita State at the end let's see if they needed the extra seconds now okay remember they're gonna start uses shot clock unless you have a huge break-in in the halfcourt kentucky's wichita state is comfortable at executing late in their shot clock where's Van Cleef with eight to shoot and alcohol against the shockers Lucille that's a good job of Randall there Bradley download will feel just a little overzealous they really weren't in a position to feed the post that forces the turnover [Applause] most of mismatching not able to take advantage [Applause] and he's loving it as he goes over and bounces right off the shoulder of early leave and Lee had just enough little hesitation to set it up for it to break say the quickness of hand with the steel and then the perfect pass it basketball the game of rhythm folks will you allow the rhythms of the maintain you get exciting plays and indebted finishes [Music] go back to to the steel mop and leave that's the second time he's picked the pocket of Harrison in this first half Paulsen comes in for Kentucky and early has the three-point play I hadn't had a chance to stay at the David been watching him and there's a lot of great point guards in the country but I don't know that there's a better decision maker in America there's a second foul here Wichita State let's see and Kentucky recognizes and Harrison looks back to coach Cal and find out what he operating with here was seven to shoot leaves it up to Randall way outside and now the corner shop late though 5-2 Baker that's a too early please so young hits a shot that Kentucky needed when they were running out of time on their possession how big and good decision by Paulson that make that extra pass hot hot off guard and James Young with the triple can keep it close Kentucky led by four at 19 to 15 but a 10-point swing the final 10 and a half minutes let's go over to Tracy coach that band lead to early dunk what is a play like that say about your Jean Tracy I just wish we had more time in the cab that's a that's a play that can ignite you up for the rest of the half tremendous steal wonderful hands people overlook that about Fred he's all defensive player in our league got great hands great anticipation and clean empty runs a car as beautifully as any player in the country thanks Tracy not overlooked by my Parker here Greg Anthony at all what VanFleet can do with those hands he set up that dunk and Wichita state's up six at halftime we'll send you to 18 t at the half after this message and a word from your local station the Harrison twins was 7 apiece but between them seven of the eight Kentucky turnovers in that first half as Van Vleet made his presence felt at that into the floor big time for Wichita State and this is where Kentucky as a young team you have to value possessions let's go over to Tracy [Music] with the turnovers Thank You Tracy you know talking to coach Count yesterday Tracy was there he talked about the message he's been sending his team and that is over and over again no one's been through as much as we have that's what he tells his Wildcats they built us up to be gods we were preseason number one because they wanted to tear us down that's what he told them [Applause] [Music] and there's an opening shot by early from three-point land again great execution and look at this game Kentucky is quicker but Wichita State is quicker on their feet maybe they are able because of that experience to play more to their instincts they're forcing Kentucky to have to think a little more than they're comfortable doing right now young lobs it down low his flying off balance has to go back out with it here's young with the shot before the half that might be the play that gets the big fella going right there great effort on that offensive line just his second field goal of the game comes back outside five starters on the floor for Wichita State Kentucky for starters us cauley-stein for Johnson not open from the corner here's Randle looking ahead Aaron Harrison with shot [Applause] the great decision didn't force it got it up to Randall for the triple-n River [Applause] when Al Baker knock out the band's lead I really have been impressed with these young wild faced high expectations but they have really grown as a team as off the hands of Colby he hasn't scored a lot today Jim but he's played to me one of his best games you know it's not always about the points in the rebound it's about the impact of allowing your team to function and that's what he's done today this five assists only one turnover the 6-3 pounds the solid defense he's played at times when they switched him out of wherever the players he has been really good Wow he was switched out that last time to Bentley I had to try to make his three over here's young to trim it to one and there is Randall defendants that's a and move julius randle all the effort the energy the activity all on display by the big something manly the mid of the bow head Randall who's from Dallas wants to get back home the North Texas with his basketball team you know it's it's party a lot of times with young players they always want to hit the home run and what he's shown the day is that the ability to hit singles to keep advancing the run and by doing that he's got in a position now where they can not only take the lead would obviously have a chance to go to the sweet 16 there's man bleep back out he didn't stuck underneath Kentucky with a quick eight-point first after the early three made it a nine-point margin seconds into the second half at 40 31 this cats areas defend detects the shadow groom the best stretch of defense Kentucky's playing the game the last 2-3 minutes here staying connected and disciplined Harrison long and BAM bleep grabs and goes that's a charge a third foul yes [Applause] [Music] few times you've seen him out of control at a great job could tell if there was a that wasn't in willing to give up the body to get to charge because VanFleet has picked up two quick ones in the span of seconds to give him three overall that's a big play because you've taken your general your catalyst out here while Kentucky is in the midst and oh my goodness sloppy mistake by the Wildcats is gonna make that point early I mean the margin of error is gonna be small in this game for Kentucky you heard when Tracy talked about the comments from John Calipari about those turnovers it's the mental mistakes and at times unforced errors that a lot of times separates good from great Harrison stepped over the line trying to inbound it that's his fifth turnover of the game coming off a career high six on Friday night against Kansas State and that's such a big play because you got him on their heels right now but they're reeling a little bit in your confidence as it's week is at an all time high in this game well that's an opportunity to maybe create a little bit of cushion [Applause] we'll shoot a couple Evan Wessel execution to get a couple freebies now on Olson his first Wessel who went to high school at Wichita Heights with Perry of us at Kansas where they won together three state titles Alice actually at another year and ended up winning a fourth bracket busted well you know what it's not too late you can get in again the Capital One NCAA March Madness round by round game at ncaa.com slashed round by round that's so unable to hit either one of them his voice is his first lead since 1918 [Applause] good kick ahead look at that angler gonna create it from pointless to attack but then Kentucky won't want to sleep there just a little bottle possession and Baker with a savvy move they're getting the foul and the finish now on Aaron Harrison his second Baker did that in the first half after a Kentucky rally he tried to kill it drove right down and scored just as he did on this occasion right on the heels of a big Kentucky moment he's got the three-point play good a grievous kid [Applause] that's an example were size does matter because he didn't have Baker beach but he just got his shoulder to a point where he could elevate and finish over the top jumpers no grabbed Oh buy cotton not to pagans he wants it [Applause] this is not they're not solid and then you get that that three-point shot because they're all scrambled trying to get that loose ball Baker now with thirteen five over the last two trips down the floor dakari Johnson that's a strong move that was a great recognition by Henry Harrison on that mismatch now make your appointment it's a little helpful farther screen Wichita State it's off Kentucky see Andrew Harrison here with a nice job with the body control but a girl off the offensive rebound knocking down the triple what a game Wow cat Shaka's after Wichita State came out hit that three to start ahead Kentucky the antique intensity wise Harrison and Randall has been the two guys thus far that have brought it let's see if the rest of the young cats can step up shockers have 13 to shoot tough time in batting head that's a five-second violation Baker says someone was holding me but Kentucky forces the turnover the last time on the baseline out of bounds they ended up committing the foul on Wessel that time much better job of containment and they bring Wiggins in for van pleats I just come in for that attempt to throw it in bounds who's got the three fouls [Music] detective on this defensive stand right here back to Tommy Stein short on the top you know what man bleep I should say Baker bothered him just enough to not allow him to gather and they're not sure who touched it last [Applause] they can't review it until the last two minutes a new rule this year it's off cauley-stein and whoops lon in a state with Kentucky with break for consumption on that possesses no doubt Randall Wiggins reached in and knocked it out another good break there cuz that could have rolled off those legs that's one of the few times I thought he made a bad decision the attack was there but he had Harrison wide open in the quarter who was the inbounder on that possession gita' state now is going to that sole remember no vans leaned on the floor all the way over to the wing [Applause] to play Riggins [Applause] Randall was fighting for it along with early but they call it all Wiggins did a great job look good but that interior pass right there is where you create the opportunities in the zone that sinks the level of the deepest to the ball and then creates those passing angles for a rhythm jump shot [Applause] about the patience by Harrison the execution on [Applause] fifteen before Baker den after a Kentucky moment wants to take in his own hands just the ability coming off this screen you see the role in that hesitation right there by Harrison allow just enough polish tines coming out after picking up a third foul and Dan please is back on the floor for Wichita State that's going to be important to remember with this Kentucky team there they look to attack at the guard position Leeds got to be really careful to avoid picking up a fourth foul wondering if they're trying to determine who the foul was on not sure what this I think is about Polly Stein had come out he had been already fall for his third and they now are going to the monitor they may change the foul call light had switched over to Aaron Harrison get on the penetration cortisol that reads not sure which it was they did not change it or gonna stay is cauley-stein third to squeeze that shot off with the foul committed by Poythress duck in on that weak side he just came for the weak side with a flash post good post delivery month to pick up the foul Darius Carter the junior from Akron Ohio part-time starter indianapolis his team can win here today Coke Zero wants to know are you a real fan hashtag prove it visit the Coke Zero social arena in March Madness live [Music] [Applause] a stretchy now let's see if they can sustain that over the next three or four minutes first seven eight minutes very similar to the first seven eight minutes of the first half Kentucky at both ends working in sync [Applause] have not tried to avoid attack or that penetration he may have picked up before file on badly Wichita state's gone over three minutes without a shot [Applause] also happens guys that man right there involved offensively there's [Music] [Applause] we're gonna have to get him a little bit more involved offensive whoo the basket here six to shoot [Applause] but a brilliant he goes hard right he spit it back and the defense doesn't react in time and he's got the ability to switch it from left to right take the contact you get the finish big fella Cragen well for those who have watched a lot of Kentucky games this year I'm sure they would tell you this is about the best they've seen Kentucky play they have put together a really strong start to this second and you know this is the smartest I've seen them play that shows you the growth is young as made in I know the points been made with a star five president Koester no matter how talented you still have to make good decisions under the rest they've done a really good job of that here in the second half Randall has wiggins putting up the three [Applause] today in a great card basket cut by early forced health that created the opportunity for Wiggins on the weak side to Big Shot therefore the Shockers reporting about these freshmen for Kentucky to the basket plus one and it's interesting really Andrew so he uses his that's a perfect example of it right there and a beautiful finish with the harm you talk about lack of experience for Kentucky coming into this tournament they had ten total minutes of experience in NCAA tournament time all ten minutes belong to one guy John Wooden is a fifth year senior where he is at the top [Applause] the Kentucky again we played a sophomore year saw some driving action fortunately go experience the all plane and that SEC Tournament though the signs were coming to life at the right sorry Lorna down to the wire look at the top you feel crossing my manly even better gather video not really losing control of that basketball finish even with the contest shadrach you feel again it's Kentucky by one midway second here's Randall [Applause] in transition I should say [Applause] then they started to get a little let's see if they can yeah here down the stretch young [Applause] shoppers have come back from store down again to take the lead this is great man's leaks [Applause] Kentucky the other way which young bouncing it [Applause] defensively [Applause] [Music] [Applause] badness and it's best here in st. Louis with Wichita State wanting that shot and Louisville again the team that beat him last year in the national semifinals and Kentucky would love nothing more than another game against its big rival we were there when they played at Rupp Arena back in December and Louisville awaits the winner and Indianapolis on Friday night and both really are much improved teams speaking of Louisville and Kentucky course once-in-a-lifetime singing about it is 35 in OT Wichita State the no team has ever attained that before let's see what Utah State they took the big blow here the first half of the second half see how they [Applause] Bob wide and Wiggins is able to grab hold of it bow Kentucky and that's an example right there were Andrew had have made the play a fraction shoulder and it also towards the rim that that play was there but the past had to be precise Poythress sits with his second one of the adjustments kentucky's way they put yellow or a dam bleed here in the halfcourt there's early last nineteen [Applause] the past was fine he just barely he just missed it it was in his hands and he just missed it he knows it he had it look just a fraction off on the timing wiggins trying to find them was there it was there for the taking 5855 let's go over to Tracy for the Powerade sideline report this Wichita State team was jacked up to play Kentucky those were Greg Marshalls words to me after a very intense practice and he said they know Kentucky they know the history of the storied program and the hype of the present one and he said there's a lot riding on this guys not only a berth in the sweet 16 but a chance to quiet the critics and get a quality win over a premier to us well said yep not intimidated by Kentucky that's what Greg said fact they've unit is though being excited have a chance to show people watch the games on your Amazon Kindle Android flow and iPhone iPad or computer we see a March Madness live watch now we see a.com slash March Madness or download the app today so two free-throws converted how about just the Evan flow of this game both teams have shown a lot of intestinal fortitude a lot of mental toughness I knew it was there from Wichita State and I love the growth I've seen from this young Kentucky basketball team did you call state with early driving ability here today Kentucky has not made a shot from the floor in four minutes and that's okay you're gonna have stretches sometimes defeat the edges more to be better but don't have the negative plays the turnovers warfare ask the forces [Applause] to tie the game at 60 [Applause] the shot and he makes it from the Kentucky this is like the heavyweights like both fighters have been round and rattled they've been spanked they've been bruised with Tigers going down Baker backs up for the three [Applause] [Music] all the hype about this young Kentucky team today they're showing is deserved and now you see why Wichita State is 35 and over Harrison on Baker 46 minutes together in st. Louis here's early [Applause] [Music] [Applause] with great rhythm on the office of it Aaron Harrison it's off the floor drive it Wiggins Gaza foul talk about early here in rhythm there nice triple never went back and forth look at the passion in the young fellas face make note that valve rows 10 through Harrison that's his third and Nick Riggins is giving the shockers some valuable minutes off the bench he really is he struggled with his shot this season noted as a three-point shooter hadn't been there but I tell you what he's giving them value of the defensive minutes as well at 5.30 Barney Johnson now is pointless in for Randall and cauley-stein now this stretch right now is going to be huge for Kentucky they don't have that presence offensively or defensively when they go with Johnson and Poythress to the level that you get with Randle and Carlos style [Applause] Riggins mr. Pope and as Poitras takes it to the Wildcats this is where the Harrises decision-making in the halfcourt getting quality possessions while those guys are on the bench oh that's gonna be on the athlete his fourth that's a fatigue fire because the first move he made was to reach out that's typically a sign of fatigue it'll be a one-on-one replaces Wiggins yet don't know that you can risk leave it amid even even sometimes because you want to trust him but if he picks up you know when you got four you get an incidental contact to create a fascist I think so you might want to think about two things one you pull them for second stretch maybe a minute or you go back to the zone to try to protect him on the defensive end that was the first dent front end of a one on one they do have the luxury with Baker as a ball handler and cotton what Marshall looks like he's going to roll the dice as he is with this gentleman Aaron Harrison two for two [Applause] goes and takes [Applause] to execute in the halfcourt late in shot clock let's see how Kentucky respond and Lee has to be careful Harrison driving in and that was early we've got contact there play there by Harrison look at this watch how a clear space that jab there he wanted to jump shot the quick problems Poythress did realize space there for the triple second foul on early shooting situation right back to the line as Aaron [Applause] and it's Randall Poythress what the long great for the big fellas Kentucky back to his first five [Music] [Applause] they're gonna say it goes to Kentucky great effort there I'm able to come up with that Evan Wessel in for Van Vliet this is a matter of probably stealing a few seconds until they under for yeah you know you play the possession game then you got a four point lead a score doesn't hurt you but obviously a foul Bob and Lee might be critical so we want to see if you can dance you mentioned by a little bit of time just try to play solid defense and force the shout over the top the shove outside on top and that's going to lead us to the underfloor break second on top we talked about the heavyweight fight partner it's been all of that and so much for a whole lot more of a regional final I mean it could really be taken to the next national no doubt about it you said at the start this game there's a lot of underpinnings to this game to the philosophy of the one-and-done the conversation that we've heard time and time again about that and listen I think there's validity on both sides I'm not a fan of one have done personally I prefer they not they have none and don't because don't put the onus necessarily on the school what having said all of that you've seen the growth from this young Kentucky team from the first part of the season until now you've seen the validation in my estimation of this Wichita State Dean Koch it's not always about who you play not a good pass by Baker VanFleet is back on the floor by the way but it was a pass trying to go inside to Carter and here's Harrisson want to put Kentucky in front Randall muscles inside and they're starting to live here in the last minute that's really been the staple for this team when they've been successful they gifted a struggle at times to make free throws but they're just the sprint to stay with that plate until the contact came by the young fella and then the effort on that offensive back wall two shots for Randall we won three state titles at prestonwood Christian Academy there in the Dallas area high school teammate of Zach Peters from Arizona Wildcats in action later today and Randle that was with a tie and with 320 to go shockers have the one-point lead [Applause] [Music] [Applause] right over the top they go early [Applause] Chucky's has numbers as young comes in [Applause] [Music] there it made a beautiful move really [Applause] Baker out to college Wichita State is bounce back [Applause] a couple of times already will they do it again it's early yes [Applause] two minutes left [Music] [Applause] [Music] Sonia try to change the rhythm makes you susceptible to that offensive back war-era Sealift that bank shot up over there in this going young [Applause] six games all season that were decided inside of his voice [Applause] big possession here for both without [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] 14 the shoot [Applause] Harris to drive an end and foul is going against Wichita State [Applause] the right call again that size of Harrison and his ability to just get angles you see that he just gets the angle there that foot comes out the slip causing the power three throwing no less like two free-throws third foul we're coming out of the first time out used all weekend by Wichita State we're gonna have free throws Lynne Marshall and this Wichita State story to think it had been 23 spring times ago since the last time we had a team entered the NCAA tournament undefeated your UNLV team and now that perfect season is on the line with 42 seconds to go and the question much like it was for us that does it in disappointment we made it to the final four and that is the destination of this chakra [Music] Barisan early in his game put to rest any concerned at that hyperextend that elbow suffered the injury suffered Friday night was going to be an issue as he hits to without even coming close to the rim [Applause] two-possession game [Applause] but they have to school [Applause] he's saying he got hit on the elbow boy what that have been crazy we've already seen one you're not the only one banking at home from three-point land into Kentucky leads down to one with 29 seconds Ron Baker a number of times has been able to have an answer for a Kentucky flurry was there contact there on the elbow you know it's hard to see from that angle but really a lot of times that's the fact that he fainted if you tap that elbow he would absolutely throw the shot off on it in some ways maybe that helped him because I was look just about to say that's not a good look oh no no yes so Aaron Harrison to inbound shockers showing full-court pressure and if you're the Shockers you want Poythress or Randle to get the ball that's where you want to get the foul right there Randall smart was bow Byerly weaken it sister Baker had an opportunity about two seconds earlier to commit that foul Randall 70% from the line on the ceased double bonus though he's going to get to no matter what the boy does he need at least one please now you want to get greedy at the free-throw line you want to get this second one because then it allows your defense to be a little bit more aggressive because you can in essence say we could take the three-point line away [Applause] which one a second the fan blades [Applause] and the fowls gonna be on Kentucky not a good look there Bob Baker just not able to gather and get his balance and they rewarded early with two free throws there would have been the penalty was at the six now that's the seven but it would have been more than one that gives them 30 for the game but now what do you do you got enough time to really make a hard effort for steel or a tire possession arrow pointing towards Wichita State so they have that opportunity but it's got to be quick and decisive and again you'd rather try to get the foul Randall or Poitras one-point game nine point eight seconds left for Indianapolis and the Shockers find away or will Kentucky in the perfect season and addleson Andrew Harrison packed for two more who 6 out of 7 from the line [Applause] and Gregg Marshall is out of the coach's box and being warned to move back you can see the intensity on his face and John Calipari was a little upset that they hadn't warned him foul was on Baker and the officials are going to the monitor to determine was it flagrant [Music] Friday night on Friday night at the Kentucky Kansas State game and that was the correct call then you may not like the rule then that was the correct correct use of it but in that case I don't think that there was contact at least it wasn't enough to warrant a play good boy how big are these free throws because it changes strategy wise everything you make one you make two you make none let's see how this plays out Harrison who started the game Friday night with the oddity of being the only man on the floor shooting technically throws and nearly air ball pollution or looking a lot more comfortable tonight they come back with cauley-stein in part because he's got the lateral quickness they're gonna switch I'm not sure they're going to go for a foul he's making his free-throw but Paulie Stein has the quickness laterally to switch on perimeter guards and still be able to contest oh when we got one or two here comes Wichita State and a timeout with three seconds left [Music] edge of the seat time our back and the officials again just to be clear they are gonna double check to make sure the accurate time is on the clock once that timeout was called by Wichita State right now it says three seconds exactly and do you want taking the shot here for Wichita State there you can't see from that angle it's pretty close that's it's close it and they may go 3.1 3.2 but it's pretty close there but to your point Greg Marsh is really good here on sidelines and baseline out of bounds there's no doubt you're gonna want something a quick dinner for Baker or earlier but remember with the B seconds you've got much to catch gather and make a move if you're Kentucky you got to stay connected and really communicate here on this possession early is out high and he could shoot the three-ball a three would win it they did add 0.2 seconds to the clock wants to talk things over and what's interesting a lot of times this could be a chess match two of you if you know the opponent in terms of the coach and you have a feeling they're gonna call a timeout you might go with two plays in a situation like this where you say okay if they don't call timeout this is what we're going to run if they do then you switch potentially and go to a different set here so let's see how this one plays out that's a luxury you can have honestly when you have an older team because they're gonna have a little bit more experience in these type situations let's see if they come out of the same set and secondly again like we talked about with Kentucky being connected and communicating on this player I'm assuming you're gonna want to switch all and you're not going to try to differentiate between the two if you see two guys front pad you switch it and again at Wichita State have that many close games to deal with all year blew out so many opponents they did but they faced their own share of adversity remember down 18 11 minutes ago in the second half in a game they forced overtime so they are not uncomfortable and playing under duress they got Nan's neat in the corner and early outcry with young looking to defend him they set some screens they get it in the pan place he's going to take the three for the win [Applause] sweet 16 [Applause] [Applause] good execution here and he gets a decent look but we talked about a coffee Stein's ability at seven feet to move laterally and then get the contest against fans lead and how about the job Aaron and Andrew Harrison did they combine for 39 points today five of ten for three and you cannot discount the impact of danger and Randall as well both played complete games terrific effort all you can do Jim tip your hat though also so Wichita State folks they showed the day even in loss that they were deserving of a one-seed spectacular performance in defeat heartbreak for Wichita State a 44 percent shooter from three Mansley no question the shot influence that's closing cauley-stein and Kentucky and Louisville will be meeting in Indianapolis in a sweet 16 on Friday
