this week on steve's garage we're going to be talking about mice and garages and how to keep them out in this video i'm going to share with you what has worked for me what hasn't worked for me and one of the items that has worked for me that you'll probably already have in your home already we all want to keep mice out of our garage because they're going to cause damage to your vehicles or anything else that you're keeping in your garage i've had mice inside my car i've had them in my engine bay you can see mouse droppings in there the cars started to smell from the mice that have been living in there they've eaten away the hood insulation of the car they've eaten away the windshield washer line so i had to get that fixed before i went to get an inspection and you know it's best to get rid of them and to keep them out what hasn't worked for me is keeping traps around the garage you know i've tried it and as many times as i trap the mice more and more show up you know for structures that aren't sealed like my garage here you they're gonna be able to keep getting back in and just having traps hasn't worked for structures and garages like mine that aren't sealed you know what has worked well is a mice repellent or a mouse repellent with a scent to them i've tested two types of scents to keep them away you know first in this garage here so my shelby and snowmobile garage i've started using pouches with peppermint and a cinnamon scent to them so far this has worked really well knock on wood i haven't seen any more mice this winter you know they've stayed out of the snowmobiles the shelby and the snowblower for my second garage you know what i really started trying to do is from something i read online is using dryer sheets so i put these dryer sheets i mean you can get them at any grocery store i place them strategically around the building and around the garage where the mice can get in and it's really kept them out and i haven't had any issues yet you know i put one on each side of the door as well as anywhere where they could potentially get into the room you should look for any cracks and crevices as well as any areas where there's going to be doors that there's going to be an opening where they can get in i'd start by doing the dryer sheet test i mean i've set them up i'd set them up where you think that mice are getting in if that doesn't work you know go to amazon and purchase the product that has a most repelling scent to them the peppermint and cinnamon scent has really worked well for me in this garage here and you know i've been using it i haven't put it in the vehicles yet because it might stink up the vehicles over a long period of time but i put it kind of in the corners of each of the garage where i think they're going to be getting in and so far i haven't had any mice this year and it's freezing out there if you tried any different methods and you want to tell everyone what has worked and what let everyone know what has worked for you please share below in the comments thanks for tuning in on this episode of steve's garage don't forget to like the video and subscribe so you get our latest content
