[Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] all right first and foremost thank you two-story blocks for sponsoring today's video stick around till later on in the episode and I'll show you how I use stock footage to spice up my b-roll sequences so today we have a fun video because it's important to make videos for fun every now and again right sir so Sarah's gonna be making a gingerbread house we've got all our ingredients here and I'm gonna be filming it and showing you guys how I do that our camera today we've got the Sony a7 three with the zeiss batis 25 millimeter I might also throw on the zeiss batis 40 millimeter as well as the lao of probe lens which i'm sure you have already seen me used in the past and as usual I'll be doing every shot and manual focus if you want to see why I use manual focus and how I use manual focus for these types of videos click the link up here and now for lighting the scene we've got the aperture 300 d mark 2 as well as the aperture 120 d mark to the 300 D is quite a bit more powerful we have that set to 25% as our key light and then the aperture 120 d mark 2 is our backlight / fill light and it's set to 65% so that way we're getting a nice balanced look it's not gonna be too high key or too harsh a shadow so for shot number 1 I just want you to hold this whole tray with all our Gingerbread yeah just walking from the side there you're gonna walk over here and place it down so when you are placing this down on the counter make sure to like tip it forward just a bit not super exaggerated just enough so that the camera can see what's going on here so for this opening shot I'm gonna be doing a basic heel to toe rocking motion you'll notice that I'm not making any footsteps I'm not actually walking with my feet just rocking back and forth and then at the end of the rock I'll extend my arms just a little bit to push in more and as she places the tray down that's when the cameras gonna go down and transition to our next shot 3 2 I think that was good so for this shot here or Sarah's gonna crack the graham cracker in half we want more dust or crumbs to fly out when she cracks it so I'm gonna take a fork and scratch it up then we're also gonna take another broken piece and scrape all those chromazone there then that should be plenty and that way when she cracks the thing in half lots of crumbs and three two okay so so far we've got two shots in the books you've got the tray placing down on the counter and then we've got the cracker snapping in half we did get these ugly piping bags which I didn't really like the look of so we put it into a fresh piping bag with no labels just will look better on camera that way so right now because we're filming something very flat to the surface I want to get the lens nice and low and because I have this thick battery grip on the bottom of the camera I have to hold it upside down otherwise you can't get that low angle so upside down is the way to go hopefully it works out so what I'm going to try and do something that pulls into that and you're gonna rotate and stick it down and I want to get like a camera shake as you place it down hold it to the lens it's like on the edge of the lens push me down that could be cool in 3 2 1 go 3 2 pulling yeah let's try it out [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] for the final hero shot of our gingerbread village we attempted to capture some makeshift snow using powdered sugar and candy snowflakes unfortunately because you know gravity is a thing this turned out a little too aggressive for my liking thankfully the sponsor of today's behind the scenes story blocks video is an online library packed with high quality stock footage motion backgrounds and overlays like this snow overlay which I use to add some realistic snow to our gingerbread village as a member of story blocks video you can download as many clips as your heart desires with no additional cost so if you're interested feel free to go to the link in the description or head over to story blocks calm slash daniel shiver to learn more about story blocks video that's the that's actually uglies gingerbread man that's a wrap [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music]
