finding budget pedals that are made well creative and unique can be very difficult but on today's episode I'm going to show you one of my favorite budget lines that are currently produced today [Music] giulio has been making pedals for a very long time and the R series also known as the revolution series was dropped in late 2018 I think this whole series has flown underneath the radar for several years and I just don't see them out there a lot I think they're made really well they're in a really cool unique enclosure the circuits sound great they're made to last and they have some innovative sounds in them so I'm gonna walk you through my favorite seven of these I think the entire line is around 14 and I'm gonna talk about them a bit and demo and then by the end of this maybe you will have found a cool new affordable pedal that you didn't know existed so let's get going the first pedal I want to show you is the EZ it costs $49 which is really amazing and it sounds great it is a marshall and a box british style amplifier sound and it's really really cool now it has a super powerful eq low mid and high and then this bias control is is the winner the bias control changes how this pedal reacts it's how it sags it makes it feel like it has more wattage or less wattage and responds under your fingers you're picking attack it's really fantastic it makes this really versatile and one thing I like about this pedal mainly because of this bias control is I can tune in high gain overdrive sounds that I really love and would use whereas I won't use massive wall of sound modern marshall sounds i just don't play that style of music but I do love coaxing pool on the edge of distortion and overdrive sounds out of pedals like this and this one's really cool and it does it very very well [Music] [Applause] you [Music] you [Music] next up is the XVI this pedal is $90 which for some people you might go is that budget it actually is because of how good this pedal does its job now this is a polyphonic octave pedal meaning you can track multiple notes you have a division of the low sub and the high upper octave you can blend in your dry signal and it has this really cool and unique feature of the mod control this adds movement and modulation into the octave and in some cases you can get like this Spacey Leslie sound it's really cool and I find unique sounds in this that I haven't really found in other octaves if you missed the episode a couple weeks ago what's in Josh's mailbox I actually demo this with a big muff style pedal and its massive it's like that Black Keys white stripes thing it's just incredible so go watch that I'm just gonna demo it clean so you can experience kind of how the controls work but it's really great it's super useful and it makes a great addition to anyone who finds themselves playing riffs if you use a lot of distortion and fuzz it's awesome yeah it's awesome and it's just awesome I think some pedals are awesome I need to play them because they're so [Music] you [Music] next up is the Aquarius delay looper so this is 8 delays and then a looper and it has tap tempo if you hold this down it turns into a tap control now this pedal is super solid because it has all the classic sounds you want it has 2 Beco tape echo a really nice reverse which you know I'm a fan of analog digital it has a low bit that's really cool a modulated delay but the star of this pedal is a mode called galaxy it is so good so spectacular it's a it's like to lay with phasing a little flange and like like some LFO of like a tremolo movement Auto swell I don't even know I don't even care what it is it just sounds like Pink Floyd and Incubus got together for some kind of Vans Warped Tour I don't think that's that good that analogy but you just got to hear this it's worth every dime of $90 for that one sound I'm just gonna play it and you be the judge because you are the judge that that's what you are [Music] next up is the torrent it's a 55 dollar overdrive that I really really like now what is it what does it sound like I think that needs to be answered with my Google search what is a Turin Turin are huge nomadic creatures who live on the grassy open plains of mogh or in central Kalimdor turin are large muscular humanoids and bovine and appearance complete with hooves and horns torrents stand anywhere from 9 to 12 feet tall so they're my height and they weigh 650 to a thousand pounds that's that's me in the winter now it's it's also world of warcraft now I'm hit I know that's a video game I haven't played it because I've played fallout 4 for 7 years but we all know this is based around the Cline and yeah it does the konbu thing yeah yeah yada yada yada I don't care for that I'm gonna put it where I would normally put a claw on some high gain overdrive I'm gonna add some tape delay from that amazing delay and yeah you're gonna listen [Music] ah [Music] next up is the atmosphere this is the reverb offering from this line reverbs in the budget area have gotten better and better because of certain technologies and this is a real standout to me because I'm really proud of Jo in the fact that they did some classic sounds you know plate church which is like hall and a spring and then from there it's chaos they went nuts I mean Echo verb shimmer comet rewind forest pulse it's a bunch of crazy reverbs and I like every one of them so I'm just gonna play through this I'm gonna dink around change the controls it has a nice mod control you can add in movement and the tone is nice too dark in that decay or brighten it up oh yeah its $90 and that's again a really great price for this [Music] [Music] [Music] next is the zip and it costs $52 let's be honest that's like three Starbucks Kappa Fratus and that's a good deal now this has low and high controls volume and drive and then you have a clipping control for normal open is like a nice powerful clean boost to drive and then the comp which I really like it's more distorted it's like a lower headroom amp now this really to me excels as a medium gain Drive now I don't have my strat here at home but this would be pure fire with the strap it's great with every guitar I have here but I can sense that this wants a strat so if you play a strat just know that I know that because I play tons of pedals and this this wants to meet your strap now I'm gonna demo it I'm gonna do low get into some higher game tones but yeah it really excels at what it does I'm gonna add some normal spring reverb from the atmosphere let's do this [Music] last but not least is the CAD box it's a hundred and ninety-nine dollars and I want to explain why that's a great deal and why this is a budget pedal now this is so much more than a pedal because it's a cab simulator emulator and an IR loader now what this means is for some of you you can't use a real guitar amp all the time you need to play at home you need some way to listen through headphones or run direct out into your DAW for home recording or you play at venues where an amp isn't allowed because it's too loud in the front of house now this is the solution and this one is really cool it's made really well sounds great and my favorite part is it's really simple to use like I don't get along with hyper digital banks and categories and all these choices and I figured this out without the manual it was pretty intuitive now I are loading is available in this meaning you can download different IRS I don't want to get into that here go watch some videos I might do one later there's tons of great videos out there but this is fantastic and I'm gonna demo it but I've actually tricked you because I've been demoing it this whole time you weren't actually hearing the amp in the video you were hearing this direct in [Music] yeah you've been hearing this the whole time I know it's like that Chris Farley Folgers crystals thing where you're furious you're flipping tables but if it sounds good it is good and yeah I'm gonna demo this what you've been hearing and what I'm gonna start with is an amp that I made it's a 112 57 tweed fender style amp I did 6l6 tubes and a u-87 microphone I placed the mic where I wanted it and it's awesome I can't complain it's got tons of features I went into it with my guitar through I went out to another and just so I could compare and then the output I went out of the XLR straight into my interface and that's what you've been hearing and that's what you're about to hear now I'll flip do some amps and yeah see what you think [Music] you [Music] you [Music] [Music] today's record time is brought to you by the 1995 Pearl Jam single has two tracks on it it's called Merkin ball and it's awesome and it's kind of a hidden track that I love as a Pearl Jam fan and I don't think a lot of people realize this exists now in 95 Pearl Jam and Neil Young became BFFs and Pearl Jam played on Neil's album mirror ball now Eddie Vedder had written a couple tracks and he did vocals on those tracks and guitars and they couldn't get along their labels they would not let Eddie appear on the olds album so Pearl Jam released those two songs I got ID and long road just as singles now I got ID is really really important for me because I remember the first time I heard it I was so captivated already loved Pearl Jam and the guitar solo was like what is this well it's Neil Young I didn't know who know young was this is probably in hindsight my first experience with Neil and the guitar solo makes no sense the tone is crazy the technique is super bizarre but it's pure magic Brendan O'Brien the producer for Pearl Jam plays bass on that track which is awesome I'm a huge fan of him so this is cool it's a really fun kind of lost song songs that I love but primarily I got ID which is track 1 I'm a big fan of it check it out and in the comments below let me know what you think and then also let me know your favorite kind of weird collaboration between two artists that you love for me Pearl Jam and Neil Young have become staples that I listen to all the time and this is just a really fun moment in time yeah so check it out let me know in the comments thanks so much for watching this video I hope you enjoyed it and I hope that you see that this Jojo R series really does check a lot of boxes that haven't been in the budget market they sound great they're made really well they're made the last and yeah they have some really cool innovative sounds one thing I didn't get to show you because I put the pedals vertical is that they actually have status lights all around them so the delay for instance the tap tempo is actually visible like this and if you have like the drive pedal on it just lights up all the time you can turn that feature off or on with a dip switch that's on the back I thought that was worth mentioning yeah if you liked this episode hit like subscribe to the channel and click the bell icon and you'll get
