kings give them a praise no matter what situation you're facing no matter what the circumstances may be the bible says that if you know that god is lord you are blessed and that's what you want to number 833 940 that's text the word give to [Music] 833-940-1404 while you're preparing your your tidings and your giving i just want to read a short portion of scripture to encourage you the psalmist said in 125 psalms 125 chapter verse 5 through 7 good will come to those who are generous and lend freely who can conduct their affairs with justice surely the righteous will never be shaken they will be remembered forever they will not fear no bad news for their hearts are steadfast trusting the lord what we find here in the psalmist is that god has promised three things to those who are generous and and and treat people with justice and righteousness in their affairs the first thing that it says that good will come to them now some of us have experienced that the goodness of god and we could testify that the goodness of god doesn't run out [Music] and to those who need a touch from god's goodness you might be in that place where you need a touch from god the bible says in proverbs trust in the lord with all your heart and lead not on your own understanding and he will make your past straight that's the goodness of god we just got to trust in the lord the second thing it says that they will not be shaken you see the world can be easily shaken because they fought stand on a foundation on the things that they see they stand on the foundation of the of the institutions and they stand on the foundations that man has made but those that stand on the foundation of god's word and his promises the bible says right here you will not be shaken and we want to hold on to those promises then it goes on to the last promise it says that they will fear no bad news you know when we turn on the tv you know it's it seems like one bad report after another bad report after another bad report to the point where i don't even want to watch the whole news sometimes but the bible says here they will not fear no bad news but it tells us why they do not fear bad news in the end of verse 7 it says for their hearts are steadfast and they trust in the lord let our hearts be steadfast let us trust in the lord in our giving pray with me church heavenly father we come before you grateful and thankful for everything that you have given us father god you have given us this day you have given us opportunity lord you have provided for us father god we give back in return father god lord that we would be a church that's able to meet the needs of those that are hurting father god lord let us be filled with your spirit of generosity father god that we would be steadfast that our eyes will be kept upon you father god knowing father god that you have raised jesus from the dead that we may live father god we testify and we stand to father god on the raising power the resurrection power of the lord of jesus christ we hold on to the blood that was shed on the cross father god knowing father god that you have called us for this very time father god for this very purpose father god we give our all in our giving father god that you would be honored that you would be get the glory father god and all that we do and we pray this in the precious name of jesus grateful to be able to deliver that if you have your bibles turn to the book of uh 3 john 3 john amen you know i want to i was reading the story about a about a small country preacher you know what he used what he liked to do is that when he was delivering the message on sunday at the end of the service he would tell the church okay i want you to read this book this chapter this verse for next week's sermon so that way when we come next week and we gather and you guys have an understanding what i'm going to be ministering so i want you to take home take this down i want you to read the book of mark chapter 17. and they took it down and next week comes sunday comes and he's excited he says you know i you know what i'm here to preach today and i just want to i want to ask the congregation tonight how are today how many of you had an opportunity to read mark chapter 17. don't be shy hands are start going up going up around this congregation and then he's just looking at he says okay he says now i'm ready he says today i'm going to be ministering on truth and just to let you guys know there is no mark chapter 17. amen james james dobson said tell me the truth and i will believe you all the time tell me the half of the truth and i'll believe you none of the time and one of the things that as christians one of the things that we will encounter on a daily basis is walking in truth walking in truth and in john the interesting about john is that we know him as john the beloved we know him in and some of the commentaries talk about how you know he he one two and three uh uh the letters that he wrote that he pretty much could have did them you know all that one in one chapter he could have took care of it the chapters are short but one of the things that john is emphasizing in the three books are two things one is truth and the other one is to know him to know him and you think the word is translated from hebrew to greek to english and often times we look and we understand and pastor danny preached a message a couple thursdays ago dealing with knowing him and having that relationship with him but when you take the greek translation gisepco it talks about knowing somebody in an intimate way and what john was bringing here was is that he was uh talking about knowing god knowing the lord in an intimate way not just having a knowledge of him but actually knowing him and the way that you're to know an individual is that you spend time with that individual you you you you figure out what their heart is is what is it that moves them in and when we look at jesus and we say what is it that moves you god let it move me 50 years ago a preacher by the name of vance havner he said this he said the scriptures teach that the age will end in three things anarchy apostasy and apathy anarchy in the world apostasy in the professing church and even apathy in the true church we know that lawlessness shall abound in the level most will wax cold the bible tells us and webster defines the word anarchy as a situation of confusion and wild behavior in which the people in a country group organization are not controlled by rules or laws we see some of that taking place but i'm not going to focus on anarchy i want to concentrate on the two others apostasy and apathy i like the song i don't know the name of it so i'm not going to pretend i do amen but it talks about we're at a time where we need to call back the sinners and wake up the saints and when you listen to the words of that song it it it should move the christian it should move them to the point where we have to understand and realize that we are living in the end of age we see things that are taking place that are unprecedented that we see man like years ago when you served the lord you didn't see that taking place you didn't see that where it's just out there it's a blatant back when i was a young kid in the 80s i mean everybody would be like man did you hear that song if you play it backwards it says satan and they'd freak out and everybody you know you're going to protest tide and you're going to protest johnson and johnson and all these things you were going to do because they had affiliation now it's just out there there's no shame in it there's there's tv programs on all the channels lucifer and all these different types of movies that they're trying and they're trying to prepare people for what's to come in our book the third book of john chapter 1 verses 1 through 12 we're gonna read some scripture tonight i hope you're okay with that to the elder to the beloved guy is whom i love in truth beloved i pray that you may prosper in all things and in health just as your soul prospers for i rejoice greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you just as you walk in the truth i have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth verse 5 beloved you do faithfully whatever you do for the brethren and for the strangers who have borne witness of your love before the church if you send them forward on their journey in the manner worthy of god you will do well because they went forth with his name's sake taking nothing from the gentiles we therefore ought to receive such that we may become fellow workers for the truth deal trephis and his homie there demetrius i wrote to the church but diotrephis who loves to have the preeminence among them does not receive us therefore if i will come i will call to mind his deeds which he does praying against us with malicious words in not contact with that he himself does not receive the brethren and forbids those who wish to putting them out of the church beloved do not imitate what is evil but what is good he who does good is of god but he who does evil is not seeing god demetrius has a good testimony from all and from the truth itself and we all bear witness and know that our testimony is true pray with me tonight father i thank you lord for this opportunity lord father your word is anointed lord i asked father god that you would anoint me to minister that word father lord i step aside asking that you take full control lord god that hearts are receptive lord those that are watching us on on all the the channels father god that you would just prepare their hearts father for a blessing as well father i give you praise and honor and glory amen amen amen see the key words in all three books that john writes here is the truth and knowing god see john takes the light he speaks here of seeing christians walking in truth and the truth john refers to is the gospel of jesus christ see one of the things that we must understand is that who he is what he has taught and what he did for us see the emphasis that john is bringing out is to walk in truth and to know him is to have and believe and pray for the christians that they would have that greater understanding of what god can do in your life that is the objective of every minister who stands behind this pulpit is that you would have a greater understanding of who god is in the power of god and what you what benefits that you have of serving god that you would have that greater relationship that you would be able to tap into the throne of god that you would be able to lay the hands on the sick all those things that god says that we can do are available to everyone here tonight those of you who are watching but it takes an understanding of what you are doing and and how you go about it see it's not who you claim it's who claims you matthew talks about where you see them where he says depart for me because i never knew you see these were people who thought they knew god so when they stood before the throne of god and they said lord lord when you would say lord twice that was an indication that i know you so when he says depart from me i never knew you see we could think that we know god we could walk like we know god and see john's letter to this church is letting them know look i i hear what is taking place i see i know that there's some discord among some of the brethren in the church but be very careful get to know god see when you know the truth counterfeit cannot creep in you can't one of the things they teach you when you go work at a bank as a teller as they teach you how to determine what is real if you study enough what is real when counterfeit comes you won't get fooled when you study the truth when you study the word of god and when they come knocking on your door saturday morning you know the truth and i've learned long ago long ago i learned this i don't got time to be wasting trying to convince somebody who's already set in their ways i just tell them very politely you know what thank you very much i'm a believer of the gospel i'm a born-again christian and thank you and trust me i know this for a fact they will mark your house they have a list they have a list and they know who they can go to and they try to fill you out they try to fill you out and try to figure out you know what's going on how many kids you have and their hope is is that one saturday morning that they show up that you're hurting and they're there to comfort you with the soft deceitful words but when you know the truth when you know the truth you don't have to rely on the words of anyone because god will bring your comfort god will be your peace amen the first thing i want to bring out is the word apathy apathy apathy in the true church see webster states apathy is a lack of emotion a lack of interest listless condition indifference when i speak of apathy what i'm talking about is the lack of interest you're bored you're lethargic now apathy is the root word for pathetic let that once marinate for a while so an individual who's has is dealing with apathy is an individual who has no interest where before you were excited before man you couldn't wait to storm and come to church man you wanted to be here early and everything excited you and then apathy sets in and it's like i'll catch up on it later it's very interesting in the medical field apathy is actually a diagnosis an individual when they're ready to depart they become apathetic in the sense where they don't want to eat they don't want to drink now flip that into the spiritual you don't want to eat the word you're no longer thirsty for the things of god and you just become lethargic you're unmovable you're listless you're you're lifeless you pick up your arm and it falls and we come to church and if if and a person who's in this state and they can't get out of it what happens is you know we just end up looking like pallbearers we're we we we're not moved by the music we're not moved by the presence of god we're we're not we're close but we're not that close and we we feel a sense of like i'm missing something you ever you ever been somewhere you feel like man i i didn't get the full effect of it and you see somebody that's so excited to you and you man that was me that was me several years ago that was me six months ago and i get it i mean there's so many things that go through our life every every one of us here has has a an idea or has moments where we just don't feel it i get like that we're not immune to that ministers we're not immune to that what we have to know is is that what it is that is affecting us and we need to snap out of it sometimes you got to talk to yourself you might look crazy you know i thank god when we had to go wireless because now i don't look crazy before i knew i did when we did that option wasn't available when you couldn't have wireless in your car and i would see people looking at me and i'm talking to myself and i'm encouraging myself you know sometimes people just look at you and i'm just like but i'm just saying you know what anthony snap out of it don't think like that get that thought out of your head don't that devil's a liar don't listen to him he's good he's a liar he's the father of all lies so you know and you just got to encourage yourself they become bored and lethargic christians are ensnared towards spiritual things one time i spoke about ensnaring how the enemy sets a trot and tries to lure us in in hopes that we fall for it and when he gets a hold of us sometimes you know he he will wrestle with us and the the new christians are the christians who aren't strong in the faith you're not there yet but you know what you you have a sense that something's going on something spiritual is is happening here and you reach out to somebody or better yet you go to the scriptures and god starts to minister to you and god starts to show you how to fight because don't you think that if the spiritual fight was like the worldly fight you would you would handle yourself see our enemy is unseen you can't see him if you could see him you take him out some of you women man you could fight you could fight but because you can't see the enemy it's a mind trip it's a heart battle they don't like you there everyone looks at you everyone knows what you did everyone this everyone that your leaders don't like you all these things start to be thrown on you and we start to carry it into the church and and the the yolk becomes so heavy you ever seen an old ox with a yolk around its neck and that thing has just been dragging that thing all over the place for year day after day after day and i praise god when he says look give me that yoke give it to me i'll take it i burn in his light but we hold on to it too long sometimes and we don't get it and understand it see i believe that apathy is probably one of the greatest things that is facing the church today see this whole year there were some people who prospered who grew closer to god and they developed and there's some people that we lost there's some people that drifted away you know they just figure out a side out of mind nobody's called me nobody's looked after me i'm jammed i'm gone but we struggle with this apathy see one of the things i read this it says if somebody wants to destroy his house he doesn't need to take a bulldozer to it if you want to destroy your house you don't need to take a bulldozer too all you need to do is neglect it refuse to paint it repair it maintain it the plumbing the electrical everything just let it go and it'll handle itself neglect same thing with our health when we fail to heed to warning signs you know that chest pain will go away by itself i'll take one more tylenol and it'll go away we always get warning sign your body will always tell you when something's wrong you know when your knee pops that way and you're walking this way there's probably something there we were talking about this a while back so like so much for the golden years they ain't so golden man you know we start to i've already i told you i've already like you know crossing over and some of the you know you this starts to hurt and all these things and i don't claim it you know some people say i'll put windex on it or put wd-40 and all those good old remedies and stuff you know sanasana you know vics all the stuff that they tell you to do and they you know but your spiritual life has a way of telling you too that there's things that are neglected and it starts off so simple sometimes you know the enemy will like you know what you're prayed up you're prayed up just you know go on and then one day turns into two three three turns into five and before you know it you're like you know well you know you you're down to two bars on your cell phone and you're freaking out you got to connect somewhere you gotta you know you're you're in the floor at the burger king in in the hallway charging your phone and you know in our spiritual life see when you start to come in this this situation where you start to feel like bored when you start to feel like i i i don't feel it i don't want to you know one day one service will be okay then it turns into two services three services and before you know it you're like drifted away see this was the problem with the church in sardis turn to the book of revelations chapter 3. you know when you read the book of revelations in the seven churches every one of those churches five of them had a heart condition dealing with the heart but the the church of sardis i want to read that tonight chapter 3 to the angel of the church in sardis wright these are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of god in the seven stars i know your deeds you have a reputation of being alive but you are dead wake up strengthen what remains and is about to die for i have found your deeds on finish in the sight of my god remember therefore what you have received and heard hold it fast and repent but if you do not wake up i will come like a thief and you will not know what time i will come to you yet you have a few people in sardis who have not soiled their clothes they will walk with me dressed in white for they are worthy the one who is victorious will like them be dressed in white i will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life but i will acknowledge that name before my father and his angels and whoever has an ear let him hear what the spirit says to the churches he says you have a reputation of being alive but you are dead how many know that we can't forgotten how many you ever tried if you you might have fooled your your probation officer you know the judge had sympathy on you or you know what anybody your landlord anybody but we can never fool god never run as far as you want as long as you want and when you get there guess what god's there and god will always surface the truth god will always bring the truth to the surface and and you can i mean you can only fake it till you make it so long before god starts to expose you and then the word of god see when the word of god comes across and it starts to convict you that is the time that is the moment where you say god you called me out that's me god i'm guilty [Music] we don't sit there we try to justify it and we try to say well look god if this person wouldn't have done that and that person did that then it made that person do that and that's why i am the way i am see we can no longer hold on to the excuses on why we do things at some point in time we are accountable to god for who we are so he says look i i you guys have a great reputation man i i see the things that you're doing but you're dead you're in the church you you proclaim to be alive you proclaim to do this and do that but i see your works you are dead wake up and he says this he says bring back to life what is still there that's why it's so important that's the first thing they take is your vitals it's to see if is this person still has life in them if there's life and they're gonna do everything they can to revive you see we talk about revival we pray for revival but revival starts with you revival is not a three day gathering in the church revival is a waking up of ourselves to god and saying you know god revive me that which is still remain that that is what is on on on life support that what is still hanging on god turn it around lord stir me up because we get so excited for so many things that don't matter so don't matter i mean i have wasted so many so much time on things that at the end of the day i look back i said man i spent 12 hours at that function and we still lost get there six to go tailgate buy everything that you can and then at the end of the day you're packing it up and you lost nothing all the money's gone your wife's probably mad at you and for what see passion for something that you i mean everyone here has a passion some of them it's music some of you it's writing some of you it's rapping some of you it's it's it's audio and technicians it's all you know we all have a passion for something and it's important that we you know what whatever it is that we we take a hold of it and we say you know what god use me use me to glorify you to glorify you see enthusiasm is the opposite of apathy enthusiastic the word enthusiasm comes from the greek word entheos which means the god within and it says this the happiest most interesting people are those who have found the secret of maintaining their enthusiast enthusiasm that god is within them see enthusiasm is interest and passion working together toward a goal enthusiasm is the fuel that empowers the christian and gives him or her the determination and the zeal see these are all the phrases that you have heard throughout your christian walk enthusiasm zeal revival these all these words but we need to apply them to make a difference in the world for the cause of christ see one of the things that we must understand is that we must forsake debilitating apathy and let the god and let the god in you give you the holy zeal for the kingdom work see having the desire to do something for god comes from you connecting to god the closer you get to god the more you're going to want to do something for him now when i say do something for him it's not necessarily like you know not everyone here not is called to to preach but everyone here is called to something to something you know and we and and when we get connected to god see one of the hardest things for people to do is to wait because we want it now we want it now i mean you already printed your cards already and you haven't even preached your first sermon yet you're getting ahead how many have ever gotten the head of god huh do something in in and pray that god co-signs on it like god you know god's got my back on this and it doesn't happen you didn't get the loan and there's a reason why see god has a way of letting us be patient because god listen if god showed you all the things that he has planned for your life right now you'd freak out you'd be so freaked out you'd leave we'd have to go chase you down and bring you back and tell you to calm down so having a lack of motivation to complete or accomplish anything it affects us and we become apathetic the second thing that i want to speak on is apostasy the english word for apostasy is derived from two greek words the first word is the preposition apo which means away from the second word is histimi which means to stand therefore a apostate means to stand away from apostasy refers to the departure from known or previously embraced truth now the interesting thing about this is that paul writes that in the end times there will be a falling away that christians will become apathetic where they will start falling away and drifting away and one of the things that i was i was researching was is that the the the the new phrases that are coming in the new phrases that are coming in in in churches are starting to grab a hold of them because they don't want to come off as as uh you know not being uh up to date or not being so you'll hear you'll hear uh phrases like uh the the one world church you'll hear phrases of of one faith where they're taking several religions and they're combining them together and they're saying we're all god's people anyway here in bueno park they're they're going around you'll see them at at home depot you'll see them at the markets and they're trying to bring these things across they hand out flyers they want to have you over for bible study all these things see i believe in the end times that the the closer that we come to the end of age is that christians need to study for themselves christians need to gather together and you need to fellowship that's why it says don't depart from the from the gathering of the church because we grow stronger together and then we're we come in unity and we start to gather in the house of god we start to hear the word of god and god's word gets a hold of us and we start to transform bible clearly prophesies that the church at the end times will be characterized by apostasy paul said that the antichrist will not be revealed until apostasy apostasy comes first jesus said in matthew 24 10 that there will be many will fall away and people will people's love will grow cold see i think that this whole year was an attack on the church of god it was an attack you seen how the the states were coming against the church you seen how states were coming against the counties were coming against the church trying to close things down try to limit people god's people of gathering together and i think it takes a prayerful church of people of prayer believing in god that they will come together and say you know what god we're believing in you for great things and we stay connected yes it's not easy it's not easy to come and it's not easy to like not come to church and watch on tv but you still have the word of god you still have the presence of god coming over the airways and you're still able to hear the word of god hear the worship and then come to repentance these are things that we need to keep growing and growing alive i believe that this next year that this move that we're going into that god is going to do great things and i believe it and you know when i and i tell this to people it says look if you're going to pray for something to believe that god is going to bring that through believe that god is going gonna do what he said he's gonna do i don't i believe when god opens doors that nobody could shut them and i believe that that these doors that god opened it was a thing from god of you if you see all that has gone through you see the hand of god in everything where this door opened and that door opened this person contacted this person and god just starts opening these things for us but it takes a church that heeds to these warnings and that is understands that that we cannot allow apathy we cannot allow apostasy to creep into the church see jude gave this warning in the book of jude he said there are some that have crept in see that's where a person needs to be understanding in in and study people watch people and be prayerful when you're prayerful god will give you the discernment to deceive these things when somebody gets i've been here about about 12 years now and i've seen throughout those years where periodically somebody will come in and try to stir something up and try to steal people away see the wolf will always try to come in and pose as a sheep but it's god's watchmen the sheepdogs of the church who alert the shepherd that something's going on can i hear an amen on this article that i was reading this was the warning that it gave to the church it says beware when churches begin to welcome general neutral bibles embrace the theory of evolution call homosexual clergy to serve the church perform same-sex marriages these are the signs of apostasy see where churches are becoming fearful that they'll get sued that they'll get closed down and they'll start to compromise and make adjustments see our methods they change how we reach people how that those will always change but what does not change is the principles the principles of the gospel those will not change you cannot alter that to conform to the world see the the that's why this church in churches like this one are always under attack because the enemy hates us he hates what we stand for he hates the christians who stand and make us stand for god family will come against you friends will come against you co-workers will come against you but when you remain still and see the hand of god move you will see the victory that god gives you in the end so what is it that we do we heed to the warnings that paul gives us that john gives us and we pray and we say god i want to know you god i want to have a closer relationship with you i want to study the truth i want to be a person an individual that walks in the truth see in order to do so we need to cast off nonsense put it aside put it aside stop playing with it stop stop trying to you know search for scriptures that justify to what you do see when did righteousness and holiness become out of date they will tag you a holy roller a self-righteous individual oh you're better than all of us no i'm not i'm just washed in the blood i'm just i'm just a believer see when god comes i want to be doing god things i want to be in the house of god i want to be prayerful i don't want to be plain i don't want to take a chance that you know what uh you know i i think i could get away with it i'll repent on sunday i'll go to church back on thursday i'll do this i'll do that no i want to say every day my mind is is god how can i please you today when i when my foot hits my wooden floors i just say you know what thank you jesus that i'm here today let that be our battle cry where we say you know what god i want to serve you and you only the cross before me the world behind me this stand up here this morning or this evening i believe we're in a time we're sinners you got to come back backsliders you know i think of the opportunities that god gives to the backslider and i'm so so empathetic towards backsliders because i was there but you know what bothered me always is that i knew the truth i knew that he could come any moment but i always wondered is today that day and if i'm in the state that i am i know i wasn't ready i knew it i thank god for a praying wife i thank god for that amen i put my wife through some nonsense man i tried hard for her not to serve god but she served god she said with you or without you [Music] with you or without you i did everything i hid her checkbook i hit her keys but she still kept going still kept going still kept going [Music] she would pray for me at night she'd put anointing oil on me i wake up i'd be like man what is all this on my head she was praying for me [Music] and after that anywhere i went i was always gonna face a christian someone from the home a believer everywhere it's like man everywhere i go god you are there you are there you are there you know what if you're here tonight and you say anthony i don't know the lord you're watching i don't know the lord i've heard all that he he is that he loves me that he could forgive me of my sins if that's you here tonight if you're a backsleeter backslider here tonight or you're watching and you someone gave uh shared it with you and you're watching for the first or second time and you've yet to make that decision i want you to say a prayer with me believe it in your heart say lord jesus come into my heart and forgive me so many things have come into my life distractions work family you know things just and i just i just feel like i'm far far away we need to ask god to help us there and repent of god i want us all to
