now chase um we've all over the years you must have got used to those people who sort of take lying to a different level and because you're special forces you must have met quite a few who decide they're going to sit down with you and act like they've been through similar experiences and they too are x sbs sas what have you yeah here we go here we go this is a good one so um it was back in 2008 maybe yeah myself and the squadron of guys i was we'd just come back from a six-month tour and um one of the guys good friend of mine he was getting married so he decided to have it was a a bit of a stag do slash booze up and um and he he lives in a place called sherborne down in uh sort of somerset dorset way yeah so we went on there very small little quaint pub all of a sudden this guy walks past the windows of the pub and he had a military got a military rucksack on he's carrying a set of uh a set a uniform and a pair of military style combat boots and he walks into the pub sits down on the thing puts all that to one side and obviously it's pricked up you know our ears have caught up and there's attention is being thrown towards this individual who's just walked in with all this kit and the barman's all right mate you how are you you um you're in the military and he's like yeah yeah mate yeah yeah can i order a pint bloke gives him a point and then he's like you know what what you know have you just come back from someone he's like yeah well i'm in the marines and i um boy wrong crowd or what yeah so i'm i was playing paul at the time and one of the guys is you know a few guys who i don't really you know i don't rise to those sort of things but there's some guys in the squadron really do take offense to it and those two guys were a couple of cockney guys who were quite larry quite hard and they're easy no names tonight i saw no you're talking about carry on [Laughter] they're gone and they've gone um they've gone over to him they're like all right mate how's it going you were you i just heard you in the marines and they're like yeah yeah and he goes oh what unit you in anyway he then says oh i'm in 42 which is not how you say it for those that know it's always 4-2 not 42 blah blah blah and they were like all right how's it been out there goes oh it's been horrendous uh you know i can't really talk about it i wouldn't want to talk about it it's just too horrendous to even it's a classic it's a classic they're like all right what sort of things were you getting up to you said oh mate we you guys we were working with a sass we're working with the sas but i can't really talk about that one of the guys was then he was starting you could see he was starting to get a little bit irate and he actually turned around and he said mate that's funny that because he goes i thought it was the sbs that was out in afghanistan and at this point the bloke turned around to him and said he goes sbs he goes don't talk to me about them he said you could be sat in a boozer drinking with him and you wouldn't even [ __ ] know that [Applause] the whole place erupted radio x
