also with a big ass Oscar nomination is when Jamie Lee Curtis who what oh yes so thrilling just it's so funny right I love that you're thrilled by it and you're not like oh it's burning down you're excited no no but I will tell you something when we were counting I'm here in a studio and there are many wonderful women supporting Jess Cagle because it takes a lot of women to support Jess Cagle um and we were counting down till we went live on on the radio I remembered my best I've already I mean you've probably heard the story already but I decided to watch the Oscar nominations enough people had whispered in my ear I kept saying please don't tell me about lists I don't want to know because it'll be heartbreaking for me because it's not something I ever thought of and the morning of it I decided to watch them and not just watch my phone and if my phone went off that was good news you know what I mean I decided to just face the moment and when we were counting down to the show here I remember count like my best friend Deborah Oppenheimer texted that she was in front of my house at 5 15 in the morning because she knew that maybe I wanted some company and in case I didn't I would be you know having my best friend there and she came in we were sitting there and I remember watching the time it's on the screen it says you know live announcements in ten nine eight and it's funny as soon as you guys counted ten my heart started to race because it was that moment and it was the first category so it was 5 31. you know um the people walked out and said okay here we go boom and and so the minute I heard a countdown I I got a little flutter because it was it was you know this surreal beautiful moment that I never ever thought would happen um wasn't even in a dream journal just nothing I and so it was just thrilling it's thrilling I'm having the best time what do you what would your mother think my well the first two people I thought of were my parents um I I mean I'm their daughter I I you know both of my children do exciting things in the jobs they do um and as their mom I'm excited for them and so I can only imagine I can only imagine uh what it would mean to them and my grandparents I really you know I went back generationally I really thought about my grandparents again everything everywhere all at once is a movie about an immigrant family and when John Jonathan Wong our producer won at the Critics Choice Awards and the movie one best picture he talked about the Immigrant experience the immigr these immigrant parents sacrificing everything for their children to have a shot at the American dream and he was standing there saying I am the Daniels are Michelle yo Stephanie Shu we are all a product of that dedication and sacrifice and although I'm not from an Asian family my grandparents were immigrants too my Hungarian grandparents and my Danish grandparents and I thought about them and what a miracle moment that their granddaughter was having this moment so I'm just having the best time having the best time [Music]
