[Music] while I'm excited I hope you are too and now I don't look like I'm excited right now but I really am I really am Amen let's let's begin with a word of Prayer and then let's get into the word of God Heavenly Father guide us Lord as we open your word please speak to us please Lord show us your glory in Jesus name we pray amen in the book of Luke chapter 24 Luke chapter 24 the disciples of Jesus have just experienced a great disappointment and they are in need of revival and I believe that that's why we're all here tonight because we want revival amen we want the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon us amen and as a people we understand that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the end times is what we call the latter rain the Holy Spirit was poured out at the beginning of the church in what was called the early reign that is where the disciples gathered together and they prayed for how many days ten days and as a result the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the disciples I want to suggest to you though that this that the revival that took place in the upper room did not begin in the upper room the the revival that took place in the upper room actually began in Luke chapter 24 and I believe that as God's people we must have a Luke chapter 24 experience to prepare us for the outpouring of the latter rain let me share with you what I mean Luke 24 verse 13 the Bible says and behold two of them went that same day into a village called Emmaus which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs and they talked together of all these things which had happened and it came to pass that while they commune together and reasoned Jesus himself drew near and went with them but their eyes were Holden that they should not know him Luke 24 has become one of my most favorite chapters in all of the Bible I believe it is the foundation of revival I begin all my revival messages with this chapter Luke 24 you'll see why in a moment the Bible says that as the disciples were walking Jesus June their but their eyes did not discern him so so he draws in there and if you know the story he asked them hey why are you guys so discouraged and they begin to lay out all the reasons why they had a right to be discouraged have you ever laid out to God all the reasons that you have a right to be discouraged and Jesus he's acting like he doesn't know what's going on they don't know it's him but they begin to tell him all these things gee you know they are they ask more you are strange you don't even know what's gone on over these last few days and they begin to lay out all the reasons for their frustration and then notice what the Bible says in Luke 24 verse 25 it says then said Jesus unto them then he said unto them all fools and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken ought not Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into his glory and beginning at Moses and all the prophets he expounded unto them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself have any of you ever lost a loved one in that moment of losing a loved one if someone came up to you and said hey would you like to have a Bible study honestly speaking how many of you would be in the mood for a Bible study having just lost a loved one you want to grieve you want to grieve you know you you you don't want someone just kind of preaching words that you wear when when your emotions are so wrong I want you to imagine that these disciples did not just lose lose someone that they thought was a loved one they lost the one whom they thought was the Messiah now I have another question for you let's say that you died and in some miraculous way you were brought back to life your family didn't know your friends didn't know you knew they were grieving and you wanted to stop their grieving what would you do some of you are already laughing and thinking about ya know what I would do you're not trying to kill your family you're trying to okay so what would what would you do obviously the thing that you would do is you would show yourself and say hey I'm alive I'm not dead Here I am be happy stop crying Jesus doesn't do that instead he gives them a Bible study now I want you to imagine what kind of Bible study that must have been where the Bible says that beginning from Moses and the prophets he began to expound on to them the things in the scriptures concerning who himself you see beloved when Jesus began to share with the disciples that all the scriptures were actually focused on him suddenly the Bible came to life in fact the Bible says here in verse 28 as they drew nigh onto the village whither they went he made as though he would have gone further but they constrained him saying abide with us for it is toward evening and the day is far spent and he went in to tarry with them I mean they are so moved by this Bible study that they say to him don't leave what was beginning to happen in their hearts revival revival by the way I'm studying the foundation the sermon hasn't started yet you might want to pass what you're going to be talking about tonight tonight's message is entitled the amount of curses don't look so worried you look worried already but but don't worry we're gonna come back to that in a moment Jesus begins to give him this Bible study and he begins to show them that all the scriptures are really talking about him and they begin to have these aha moments can you imagine what kind of Bible study that must have been for Jesus to begin all the way at the beginning you know in the Bible where where it talks about uh in the beginning God created the heaven in the earth and the earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep and and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters and God said let there be light and there was light did you know that that light was really Jesus is he not called the light of the world on day 2 when the waters come in to come into play do you know that Jesus is the water of life on day 3 the FIR fruits come up out of the ground just gonna wait I'm just gonna wait man I'm just going to it yeah you didn't hear that so on date on the third day the first fruits come up out of the ground look at my eyes okay on the fourth day God creates the greater light and the lesser light did you know that Jesus Christ is the son of righteousness on the fifth day God creates the fish do you know that jesus said follow me and I will make you a Fisher of men because he was a Fisher of men on day 6 the Bible says that God created man in His image did you know that Jesus Christ is the very image of the Heavenly Father and on day 7 God gave us the Sabbath Jesus himself said come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest can you imagine what kind of Bible study that must have been as Jesus begins to take them through the scriptures and says yeah you know that verse that was talking about Jesus and you know that verse and you know that story can you imagine the aha moments they must have had like we just had just now you can imagine why now they're like wait a minute don't leave it we want to hear more and so Jesus is speaking with them and then and then they ask him to stay and so he stays and notice with me verse verse 30 the Bible says it came to pass as he sat at meat with them he took bread and blessed it and brake it and gave it to them and their eyes were opened and they knew him and he vanished out of their sight when did they win with their eyes open when Jesus took bread and broken when Jesus took bread and broken it is then that their eyes were opened and they knew him what was Jesus doing he was opening their eyes to the scriptures to see who in the scriptures to see Jesus in the scriptures and so when they see him when they when they know him the Bible says he vanished and verse 32 they said one to another did not our hearts burn within us heartburn that's what the disciples got after they finished eating with Jesus heartburn and it was this heartburn that carried all the way through to the upper room in other words beloved when they gathered in the upper room it was not this picture that we usually have we are all sad oh woe is us let no no by the time they got to the upper room they were so excited why because remember Jesus had spent 40 days with them doing this breaking bread and it was that breaking of bread that led them to that spirit that that was that was perfect for the out prone of the Lateran so in fire fell on them it was just a sign that their hearts were already on fire Moses was called to meet God on this mountaintop do you guys remember that story and the Bible says the Bible says that Moses ascended up the mountain to meet God Moses ascended up the mountain to meet God Moses ascended up the mountain to meet God the Bible actually says that a cloud received him out of the sight of the people and so as Moses is up in the Mount please listen carefully as Moses azar up in the mountain are the people of God below or are they they see him ascend and then Moses stays up in the mob but he stays a little longer than they expected Wow will Moses return it's been so long my mother's mother used to say that Moses was coming back I've been hearing Moses is coming back for Oh thirty eight days now the people below began to feel that perhaps Moses was not coming back so they better get comfortable did Moses return at a time when they did not expect it but ever do you see the parallel Jesus has ascended to heaven a cloud received him out of the side of the people and he's been gone for a long time but now is not the time now is not the time to get into golden calves now is the time to keep our eyes stayed on Jesus because he will return and when he returns he's gonna ask a simple question who is on the Lord's side let him come on to me because that's exactly what Moses did so this sets the foundation level we want to know how we can avoid being a part of those who end up taking their eyes off of Jesus and be one of those who keeps their eyes focused on Jesus because to keep the eye focused on Jesus is to be ready for his coming so now that we have seen that true revival begins with an understanding of Jesus with our heart burning from seeing Jesus in the scriptures that's what we're going to do tonight I want to invite you to listen to this story it's not a story I'm going to lay out some history for you and I really want you to focus in on this history so turn with me if you will to the book of Genesis chapter 15 Genesis chapter 15 don't worry no other introduction of any sermon will take that long again Genesis chapter 15 Genesis chapter 15 and verse 13 and we're going to run through this quite rapidly so I really want you to focus just really focus in on what I'm saying tonight Genesis chapter 15 verse 13 the Bible says and he said unto Abraham that is this is God speaking know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs and shall serve them and they shall afflict them how long four hundred years the children of Israel spend 400 years in Egyptian captivity at the end of that 400 year period a man by the name of Moses comes upon the scene Moses is tasked with leading the children of Israel out of captivity and Moses actually lead to children of Israel right to the borders of the promised land but he is not allowed to enter in is that right so he sees the promised land with his eyes but he is not allowed to enter in let's recap how many years of captivity 400 years at the end of that 400 years a man by the name of Moses comes on the scene Moses leads the children of Israel out of captivity to the promised land he sees a promise then with his eyes but he's not allowed to continue on instead another man is gonna lead them into the Promised Land that man is the man called Joshua Joshua Wong in Deuteronomy 34 we have Moses being told that he can only see the promised land but cannot enter in we then come to the Book of Joshua just a few pages over turn there with me if you will Joshua chapter 1 Joshua chapter 1 in Joshua chapter 1 we have Joshua preparing to cross the Jordan just one chapter back Deuteronomy 34 we have Moses viewing the promised land but it's not allowed to continue on I want you to notice the progression Deuteronomy and then the book of Joshua in Joshua chapter 1 Joshua crosses the Jordan in Joshua chapter 3 in Joshua chapter 3 or Joshua chapter 1 he prepares to cross the Jordan in Joshua chapter 3 he crosses the Jordan in Joshua chapter 4 God tells Joshua to choose 12 men that will take these 12 stones and set them up as memorials are you with me so far after Joshua does this that's Joshua chapter 4 in Joshua chapter 5 Joshua is preparing to do something he is preparing to go into battle against a place called Jericho the Battle of Jericho occurs in Joshua chapter 6 after the Battle of Jericho we go to Joshua chapter 7 and Joshua is about to fight with a with a city named AI does he win this battle or lose it he loses it and then goes to fight them again a second time and then wins that battle so that's Joshua chapter 7 and then we get to Joshua chapter 8 and I want you to notice with me Joshua chapter 8 we're gonna read verse 33 Joshua chapter 8 verse 33 the Bible says and all Israel and their elders and officers and their judges stood on this side of the Ark and on that side before the priests the Levites which bear the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord as well as the stranger as he that was born among them half of them over against Mount Gerizim and half of them over against Mount Ebal as Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded before that they should bless the people of Israel and afterward he read all the words of the law the blessings and the cursings according to all that is written in the book of the law there is not a word of all that Moses commanded which Joshua read not before all the congregation of Israel pause right here let's recap how many years of captivity and then a man by the name of Moses comes on the scene Moses lead the children of Israel to the promised land he sees a promised land but is not allowed to continue on instead Joshua will lead them into the Promised Land Joshua crosses the Jordan these twelve men put these twelve stones and then Joshua goes into battle once against Jericho twice against AI and then he stands he divides the children of Israel and put six of them on this mountain called Mount Gerizim and another six on this mountain called Mount Ebal and then he reads blessings and cursings come back with me to the book of Deuteronomy chapter 11 Deuteronomy chapter 11 why does Joshua divide the children of Israel and put them upon these two mountains the answer is because Moses commanded Joshua to do that once he crossed the Jordan Deuteronomy chapter 11 and verse 26 the Bible says behold I said before thee this day a blessing and a curse a blessing if you shall obey the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you this day and a curse if you will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day to go after other gods which you have not known and it shall come to pass when the LORD thy God has brought the in unto the land whither thou goest separate to possess it that thou shalt put the blessing upon Mount Gerizim and the curse upon Mount evil are they not on the other side of the Jordan pause Joshua crosses the Jordan and he speaks blessings or he goes into battle and then he speaks blessings to half the tribes and curses to the other half now let's figure out what these blessings were Deuteronomy chapter 28 we're gonna take a look at these blessings by the way how many of you would like for God to bless you how many of you could use blessings from God Deuteronomy 28 let's check out these blessings Deuteronomy 28 and verse 1 by the way some of you look bored right now don't be I'm just warning you I'm setting you up so you may as well just get excited don't ever be bored with the Word of God ever ever ever ever even when it sounds like this is boring just be excited even if you don't know what you're being excited about because something is there Deuteronomy 28 verse 1 it shall come to pass if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God to observe to do all his commandments which I command you this day that the Lord thy God will set the on high above all the nations of the earth amen and all these blessings shall come upon thee and shall overtake thee I like that how many be like a blessing to overtake you you know it's like oh I was overtaking you know like to be overtaken by the blessings right here and all these blessings shall come upon thee and overtake thee if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God blessed shalt thou be in the city and blessed shalt thou be in the field how many of you could use that blessing yeah um blessed shall be the fruit of thy body and the fruit of thy ground and the fruit of thy cattle the increase of mankind and the flocks of that sheep amen verse five blessed shalt thou shalt be thy basket and thy store verse 6 blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out jump down with me to verse verse verse eight or verse nine the Lord shall establish the holy people unto himself as he has sworn unto thee if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God and walk in his ways and the best is gone all the way down to verse 14 nine blessings in all how many of you could use one blessing from God if God just blessed you one time you'd be like amen but he blesses you nine times amen no you're not feeling nine times amen man nine blessings coming from God is amazing powerful amen praise the Lord now for the curses are you ready for the curses I don't know if you're ready for the curses but but let's read the curses so the curses start in verse fifteen see that right there verse 15 but if but it shall come to pass if thou will not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day that all these curses shall come upon thee and what overtake thee now pause so the curses begin in verse 16 see that cursed pause for a second if God just said to you cursed if he just said to you it looked at you and said cursed how many of you would be overwhelmed okay verse sixteen is where the curses begin now turn the page and go to the end of the chapter you see where it ends verse 68 you guys that is something like 52 or 53 verses of curses if God cursed you once would you be overwhelmed but God doesn't do that here 50 God is trying to find ways like okay if you don't obey me I'm gonna curse you this way but not only this way I'm gonna curse you this way and let me see what other ways can I curse you you know it sounds crazy but but let's sort of some of these curses okay verse 16 cursed shall be the fruit of thy body and cursed shall be the fruit of our land the increase of mankind and the floods of that sheep kershaw I mean without coming sin and curse shall I be without ghost out the Lord shall send upon the cursing vexation and rebuke in all that I'll set it down hand unto for to do until that be destroyed and until they perish quickly because of the wickedness of thy doings whereby thou has forsaken me all right you would think that everything that God could say he just said but he goes on I mean beloved think about it how would you feel six tribes standing up on Mount Ebal which means dry ground barren ground how would you feel as you hear these curses coming from God saying if you don't obey me this is going to happen to you and this was going to happen to you and you're gonna go this is gonna be this is gonna be an end result this is gonna be your life how would how would you feel would you feel scared would you feel pretty nervous about this God who is supposedly loved well the question for us tonight is why's us in the Bible what what mean these mountains well let's see but first smart with me you say pastor why am i smiling with you well listen did you know did you know [Music] did you know that between the Old Testament and the New Testament that there was a period of 400 years isn't that interesting yeah interesting but you say nothing to write home about wait wait at the end of that four hundred year period between the Old Testament in the New Testament did you know that a man came on the scene by the name of John the Baptist no no no okay okay okay check it out really just as Moses came upon the scene at the end of four hundred years now check this out Moses led the children of Israel to see the promised land land John the Baptist led the children of Israel to see the promised man man wait wait wait Moses was allowed to see the promised land with his eyes but was not allowed to continue on he was taken off the scene John the Baptist saw the promised man but was not allowed to continue on he was taken off the scene with Moses listen there was a transition of power from Moses to Joshua Yeshua at the Jordan just as john the baptist's there is a transition of power from John the Baptist to Yeshua Jesus at the Jordan Joshua is commanded to choose 12 men just as Jesus after crossing the Jordan chooses 12 men so you remember where this happens right go with me to the New Testament quickly Matthew chapter 3 Matthew chapter 3 this is where Jesus crosses the Jordan he is baptized at the Jordan and then and then after Matthew 3 comes Matthew 4 that was deep right yeah pastor I was one of the deepest things you said tonight I have to Matthew three cuz Matt before but check this out there's something even deeper because in Matthew 4 after Jesus crosses the Jordan he goes into battle three times remember after Joshua crossed the Jordan he goes into battle three times once against Jericho twice against AI Jesus goes into battle after he crossed the Jordan three times that's Matthew chapter 4 now now now after Matthew chapter 4 I didn't tell you this oh oh man listen after Matthew chapter 4 this is deep guys after Matthew chapter 4 comes Matthew chapter 5 wait wait this is deep after Matthew Ford comes Matthew five wait you see past why so excited we already knew that well watch this there's something that you didn't know Matthew 5 verse 1 and it came to pass as the people pressed upon him I'm sorry I'm sorry I mean I'm so excited I'm in Luke chapter 5 Wow Matthew 5 and seeing the multitudes he went up into a watts wave hold on one wait a minute what did joshua do with the children of israel after he crossed the jordan after he goes to the battle three times what does he do he sets the children of israel upon these mountains listen and seeing the multitude he went up into a mountain and when he was set his disciples came unto him and he opened his mouth and taught them saying you guys check this out in Deuteronomy 28 1 to 14 there are nine blessings altogether in Matthew chapter 5 there are nine blessings altogether but who would have thought that as we're reading this story of the Old Testament I'm sorry that to us seems like okay well we're just going to history who would have thought that the Bible was laying out in prophetic terms the life of Jesus by the way didn't Jesus say of John the Baptist oh I'm gonna save that for another time I gotta say that for another time I gotta say okay okay I will not sing it for another time once there was there another transition of power at the Jordan was it yeah Elijah and Elijah right remember how Elijah was how Elijah wanted twice the power of Elijah the matter how the disciples of Elijah went on to follow Elijah after Elijah was taken off the scene did Jesus say of John the Baptist that he was Elijah so if John the Baptist was Elijah then who pray tell was Elijah do you know what the license first miracle was after he crossed the Jordan He healed water to make it drinkable Jesus at the wedding feast turns water to wine beloved listen to me when we begin to understand that the Scriptures is all about Jesus something begins to happen in our hearts we begin to get heart the heart begins to turn on fire all right so you all just made me detour from my sermon so so now we get it Mount Gerizim the mom of blessings we get it now but but pastor what about this amount of curses what is it where does that fit in come back with him because there's something that I did not share with you about this mountain of curses Deuteronomy chapter 27 I want to read this to you Deuteronomy 27 and let's begin with verse 1 Deuteronomy 27 and Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people saying keep all the commandments which I command you this day and it shall be on the day when you shall pass over the Jordan unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee that thou shall set the up great stones and castor them with plaster and thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law when thou are passed over that thou may is going on to the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee a land that floweth with milk and honey as the Lord God of my father's has promised thee therefore it shall be when you begone over Jordan that you shall set up these stones which I command you this day in mount wear a ball now which mountain is this this is the Mount of curses this is dry ground see there's something I didn't tell you about me bonkie ball when I was reading it at first I want you to listen to what the Bible says now Chuck um therefore it shall be when you gone where you're going over the Jordan that you shall set up these stones as I command you this day and mount a ball and thou shalt pass them with plaster and there thou shalt build an altar unto the Lord thy God an altar of stone that shalt not thou shall not lift any tool upon them thou shall build the altar of the Lord thy God of whole stones and thou shalt offer burnt offerings thereon unto the Lord thy God and thou shalt offer peace offerings and shalt eat there and rejoice before the Lord thy God hold on what did you just say rejoice wait a minute God how do you expect me to rejoice on the mountain that you just spoke all these curses what do you mean rejoice do you remember what you just how you just said if we don't obey you this is how you're gonna curse us how do you expect us to rejoice the answer is that God said build an altar on this mountain wait wait build o build an altar and I want you to make a sacrifice on this mountain and rejoice why because you see beloved that sacrifice on that mountain point it to Jesus Christ if you obey me I'm gonna curse you in a million different ways yeah that's right I said it yeah yeah yeah I'm gonna curse you and this is gonna happen to you and that's gonna happen to you and build an altar build an altar you see beloved the curses that were designed the curses that were meant for us God provided a lamb if you want to know what made Jesus tremble when he said father if it be possible let this cup if you want to know what was in the cup read the curses Jesus took those curses upon himself that we might live and so he says rejoice rejoice you see beloved Mount Ebal dry ground barren ground the mountain of curses is none other than Calvary the mount of blessings the mount of death that's why it's called them out of blessings Calvary the amount of curses where God poured out upon Jesus the curses meant for us and then it says rejoice at that mountain rejoice at that come to Calvary and rejoice in what I have done for you rejoice in what my son has done for you come come to that mountain and rejoice Wow what love what amazing love you see beloved at Mount Calvary the curses that were meant for us are broken did you catch that just now if you want the curses broken go to Calvary because that's where the power is to break the curses in your life anybody under curse right now feel like you're under a curse feel like man why this happening God says come to Calvary and I'll break that curse you see beloved every curse is broken at Calvary and that's where revival begins every curse is broken at Calvary why because Jesus broke the ultimate curse at Calvary he died for us what is death what is that what did God say death is when he was explaining to Adam and Eve you will die because of your sin what did he say to them you will return to the where to the to the ground to the dust so so death is a return to the ground to the dust Jesus died for us and in dying for us he broke the curse of death the wages of sin is death in dying for us Jesus broke the curse of sin he broke the curse of sin and death at Calvary on our behalf and you say pastor how did he do that listen are you ready for this are you sure it's like this when when when Adam and Eve sinned the virus was a wage of sin is what so when Adam and Eve sinned they were all ultimately placed under the sentence of death I want you to imagine sin and death as individuals ever since Adam and Eve sinned sin and death have been operating legally you catch that so Adams sins sin says okay Adam legally you belong to me and I belong to me I'm gonna hand you over to my friend death and death is like yes by long you have sinned and I have every right to claim you they've been operating legally every person that comes into this world you die you sin you but wait when Jesus came the Bible says he knew no sin sin had no right to hand Jesus over to death but sin got greedy wait in handing Jesus over to death sin sin yeah and the waves of sin Christ condemned sin in the flesh yes but wait there's more death should have known better death sitting like well sin you messed up I'm not going there but death got greedy too and death tried to claim the life of Jesus though he had never sinned and in doing that death sinned and the wages of sin you guys death is on death row death must die death will be it is a last enemy to be destroyed why because Jesus condemned sin and death at Calvary he came out of death with the power with the keys Christ says listen you want that you want the curse broken in your life come to Calvary come to dry ground by the way by the way dry ground dry ground so anyone remember any other story in the Bible that talks about dry ground barren ground well I'll tell you remember the story of Elisha and those false prophets remember that Mount Carmel what was the matter with mark there was a famine wasn't there there was a famine and I remember how long the famine last three and a half years so Elijah begins his ministry with this three and a half and a half years of famine during that three and a half years it's interesting that Elijah multiplies bread and he raises the dead but at the end of this three and a half year period you remember this story right go go to it with me we're gonna we're gonna get ready to AH I'm not gonna say what I'm about to say so let's just go over let's just over the set first Kings chapter 17 and I want you to see this because this is absolutely amazing first Kings first Kings chapter 18 rather first Kings chapter 18 and we're going somewhere with this God so please just just follow along carefully first Kings chapter 18 notice what the Bible says here first Kings chapter 18 so so remember Elisha calls all these false prophets together right and says okay here's the deal you're gonna pray to your God and I'm gonna pray to my god and the God that answers by one by fire he will be gone let him be gone so the false prophets they began to do all their stuff and they're trying to do everything the cross fire down from heaven and what happens nothing then it is Elijah's turn and according to the Bible first Kings chapter 18 verse 30 verse verse 30 and Elisha said unto all the people come near unto me and all the people came there on to him and he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down and Elisha took 12 stones [Laughter] [Music] twelve stones according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob onto whom the word the Lord Kings saying Israel shall by name be and with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord and he made a trench about the altar as great as would contain a measure of seed and he put the wood in order and cut the Bullock in pieces and laid him on the on the wood and said fill for bowels with water and pour it on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood and he said do it the second time and they did it the second time and he said do it a third time and they did it a third time and the water ran round about the altar and he was and and he filled the trench also with water and it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice stopped three and a half years have passed Elijah is now about to end a drought Jonah if a drought ends that means it must Elijah is about to bring to an end through the power of God this drought and what happens is it occurs after three and a half years at the time of the evening 11:00 you understand that Jesus is all over the scriptures you understand that that the Scriptures point us to one thing over everything else and that is a death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ do you understand that the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the key is the secret to revival Elijah calls calls all the people together and he does this he says okay we're gonna build an altar and then what he does is he gets water and he dumps it on the altar now what is the lives of trying to do he wants to call fire down from God but he dumps water on the altar by the way notice with me verse 33 and he put the wood in order and cut the Bullock in pieces so there's wood on this altar yeah at the end of three and a half years at the time of the evening sacrifice there is an altar with wood and a sacrifice is laid upon the wood yonder a sacrifice is laid upon the wood stretching a sacrifice is laid upon the wood at the end of three and a half years and Elijah says I want you to take these barrels and I want you to dump this water on the wood now that appears to be working at cross-purposes because if you're trying to set something on fire you don't put water on it first but other may I suggest to you that as Elijah is pouring this water on the wood it appears that God's fire well why would Elijah do that it appears that God's fire would not be able to light that which has become soggy have you become soggy imagine with me for a moment that those bowels of water represent our sogginess represents our sins you see sins work at cross-purpose with the will of God but here's what Elijah's trying to show us guys here's what here's a lesson that I want to show you through what Elijah does here it is it doesn't matter how soggy you have become have you become a soggy Christian do you have barrels think about that for a moment do you have barrels of sin in your home do you have barrels of sin that are just piling up and you're like man there's no way I can bring these to God because God's fire could not possibly handle my sin will ever listen to me God's fire is able to handle your sogginess God's love is greater than your sin and so Elijah are you sure you want us to bring this Charles yes bring the barrels dump them on the wood I'm gonna show you how powerful our God is how many barrels you got pastor you don't understand I've got six huge barrels in my house I'm ashamed I don't want anyone to know about those barrels because of all the stuff I said bring your barrels bring your barrels bring them to the cross of Calvary and there you'll see that God's love is greater than your sin God's love is greater than your sogginess God's love is able to set you on fire and so they bring the water and they dump it and beloved listen to me the Bible says that Elijah prayed and fire came down from heaven and I love the way the Bible says the fire licked up licked up the waters like what what you thought that your sin was greater than my love what you see beloved they had to bring the waters to the altar they had to bring the one and listen God's wood was able to handle the waters you know the Bible says where there is no wood the fire goes out you can catch that where there is no wood the fire goes out you want to get on fire you need wood you want to get on fire you need what you need the cross by the way just in case you think pastor you don't understand my barrels are so great do you listen to me do you know that in the time of Noah salvation came through wood that was lifted up above the earth you guys in the days of Noah salvation came through wood that was lifted up above the earth and by the way all men were drawn to that wood but it was too late Jesus says and I five he wants lifted up will draw all men unto me in other words beloved listen if God's wood was able to handle the flood of an entire world how many barrels did you say you had again 24 no I've got 32 God says bring your barrels bring your barrels bring your sins my love is greater than your sin isn't that amazing my love is greater than your sin bring your barrels but if you don't bring your barrels there's nothing I can do for you you have to bring your barrels you have to bring them to the wood and God says when you do that when you do your part when you simply all I'm asking you to do is bring it because I cannot take it from you by force just bring it to me you bring it to me and my fire will consume it let me tell you something else do you know that Noah's Ark was a very big Ark it was huge and there was something very strange about that Ark the strangest thing about the ark is that God told Noah to put a window in the Ark you said pastor why is that strange well let me tell you why if you and I were to build an ark today we would have many windows in the Ark because we want to see what's going something even stranger God said to Noah put the ark put the window in the Ark of the roof of the boat in put the window in the roof of the Ark we wouldn't put a window there we would want windows in the size of the art so we could be like oh look at sister Betty she's lost - what no no no God said Noah put the window no I had only one place to look in the midst of the storm in the midst of the crisis Noah could not look out he could not look down the only place he could look Jesus says look unto me and live look unto me and live those serpents in the wilderness you know I don't like snakes right those serpents in the wilderness those serpents in the wilderness that came up over biting the people God tells Moses I want you to make a brazen servant and put it on a pole and whosoever would look at that brazen serpent will live there were people that died you want to know why because to look up at a serpent on the pole when you had hundreds of serpents at your feet would have been an act of total faith most of us would be busy trying to save ourselves looking down at the Serpent's on the ground and that's what many of us do in church life look at that serpent and look at serpent sister Betty she is serpent and brother Tom he is suffering - and the pastor and that pastor and the elder and now I tell you let me tell you about our president press our beds we got certainly God is like look up that ministry their servant diet and what happens is the more we focus on the Serpent's on the ground the more we become like them because by beholding we become changed you want revival look up you want revival the focus must be on the cross you want revival stop looking at the storm around you and look at Christ on the cross the Bible says that Elijah prayed and fire fell fire fell fire fell you won't fire to fall wait after the fire fell something happened Elijah looks out and he sees a cloud you're like what is he gonna talk about the latter rain yeah he looks out and he sees a cloud and the Bible says that it rained you guys do you want it to rain your barrels are holding up the rain did you catch that we all are we got our barrels and in time of famine barrels of water are a precious thing aren't they we want to hold on to our barrels God says my children I need you to bring your barrels I need you to bring your balance and when you bring your barrels and dump them at Calvary when Christ becomes the center so all in all I'm gonna make it rain I'm gonna make it rain beloved you wanted terrain I wanted terrain but in order for it to rain we need to bring our barrels so I want to make a simple appeal tonight you got barrels in your home you got barrels in your life barrels of unforgiveness barrels of distrust barrels of anger barrels of hatred you know what's in your barrels no one else leaves know what's in your barrel but you know it's in your barrel and tonight you're saying to the Lord Lord I'm bringing my barrels to you because I want you to set me on fire I have become a soggy Christian and I want you to set me on fire I bring my barrels to you tonight if that's you if that's you I want to and this is not other hey everyone stand the stretch this is an appeal that is very specific so if only one person stands then then praise the Lord I only want you to stand the Spirit of God is moving you tonight so tonight you're saying Lord that's me I have barrels that I need to bring to you barrels that I've been holding on to for too long the Lord I've become soggy I need you to set me on fire again if that's you I want to invite you to stand to your feet please listen if you're on fire praise the Lord praise the Lord don't don't stand this appeal is not for you okay please God is calling us tonight as a people to get on fire we want it to rain but in order for it to rain Christ must become the center once again bring your barrels he says bring your barrels for those of you who have not stood yet and and now this is a general feel for everyone you're saying tonight Lord I just I want to take my relationship to the next level with you if that's you I want to invite you to stand as well as we close in prayer tonight Heavenly Father we thank you for speaking to us tonight we thank you Lord for the amazing sacrifice at Calvary we thank you Lord that we can rejoice at Calvary because you have taken the curses that were meant for us because of sin you've taken them upon yourself that we might live so father tonight we're saying to you that we want the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and we want to bring our sins to Calvary we bring our barrels to you Lord set our hearts on fire grant us heartburn may we fall in love with the scriptures may we understand that the Scriptures every story in the Bible points to Jesus in some way shape or form may we see Christ in the scriptures may we see him lifted up because as we see him in the scriptures we become like him because by beholding we become changed into the same image may we behold the serpent on the pole not the Serpent's on the ground forgive us for our judge mental attitudes Lord that keep us separated from one another and Lord bless us pour out your spirit upon us is our prayer in Jesus name we ask it amen [Music] you
