it is finally here earlier this week we got the official release of the Starfield Community patch that big bug fixing mod that you're probably going to keep in the back of your load order forever we're going to be taking a look at what exactly is fixed here because Starfield basically just got a new update as a result of this coming out but also look at some of the other mods fixing some of the lingering Starfield issues as well as just adding in pretty epic new features into the game but also a little bit later in this video we have to talk about the Starfield mod problem have you noticed that the mod explosion just hasn't really happened yet with Starfield but there's actually a reason for that there are some unforeseen limitations with Starfield modding and it's probably not what you think but starting off with the Starfield Community patch this fixing a variety of the lingering problems with the game like skills not working ranks 3 and4 of the Rejuvenation skill should let you regain HP during combat but it just didn't but thankfully this mod will Implement that functionality so the skill will work as described some skills were actually giving you too much of a bonus like em weapon systems doubling the damage with em weapons as opposed to just the 10% incremental increases that it describes in its description as well as this mod will make the rank four of the skill actually apply em damage instead of just applying Hall damage the missile skill will now reload as quickly as it's intended to I'm sure for a lot of you you didn't even realize a bunch of these skills weren't working as intended there're going to be some fixes for companions such as them no longer getting mad at you for boarding enemy ships one of the most frustrating bugs that exists in the game right now as well as companions will finally comment on your appearance changing as well as there's tons of typos that are resolved throughout the entirety of the game thanks to this new patch so that's definitely not a comprehensive list of changes coming from this patch but it's a good look at some of the bigger ones as of right now it really is just a handful of fixes of course with plans to grow over time and even come to Xbox one day this time around the community patch is designed to be owned and updated by the community so it's fully open source and has a ton of different contributors already and this is honestly super good if you followed some past modding drama a lot of this has been centered around the community patch and even some of the developers behind it but definitely the Starfield Community patch is really designed to be communal and an open project and you yourself can even contribute bug reports on their website for things to be fixed but then we have what I almost guarantee is going to become the favorite mod of some of you with Luma this is another huge mod implementing true native HDR support into Starfield but this will even go A Step Beyond that to implement a variety of other visual improvements to the game so even if you don't have HDR screen you very likely will still want this mod but right at the bat this is going to be native HDR if you have an HDR display you'll notice a dramatically larger range from light to dark colors in Starfield looking at this scene here outside of neon you should notice how much lighter some of the reflections appear on the ground but then also some of the dark areas look almost like a true black as opposed to a casual gray and vanilla Starfield and this will even extend to space around you instead of just a generic blue coloring things will now look much darker closer to a true black as the the ship's thrusters fill the scene with color but that is only half of this mod as it also includes a variety of other visual changes that anyone could take advantage of one of my favorite changes is the removal of this generic gray filter that Starfield just has had I think you can see it quite prominently here in a Killa City things of vanilla just look oddly gray and washed out but once you add Luma that gray MK that was flooding the scene is just removed and it feels like you get a better view of the true Aila City like I mentioned before even if you don't have an HDR display you can take advantage of these changes simply use Luma on its SDR setting and you notice colors popping a bit more it almost looks like a fog moved out of many of these cities you'll notice a fairly massive difference in the night sky now things will truly be black with Luma installed as opposed to the Casual blue or dark blue that you would have previously Luma overall will definitely make Starfield a darker game just color-wise but it has a really nice contrast because a lot of the other colors will pop away more now and overall it's a good one that I think still does maintain the core visual style of Starfield it's not trying to to make this look like something completely different and just providing enhancements here and there for the game and for me this is definitely going to be one of those mods that I can't go back from ditching that ugly gray filter just feels so nice although unfortunately this mod won't be active for the rest of this video as it does somewhat interfere with my recording software thankfully a problem that the vast majority of you won't have although speaking of another mod to bring some pretty major visual enhancements to Starfield is the Starfield HD overhaul from Luxor Luxor has created the definitive HD overhaul for Fallout 4 and with the Starfield version just making its debut this is going to be another one that many of you download today and keep in your load order forever as what this mod will do is dramatically upgrade the textures and appearances of a ton of things in Starfield and of course this is a work in progress so as of right now it's really focused around some of the major cities in game although some of the texture overhauls are more far-reaching things like the night sky will get a bit of a boost with this one and even some of the water texture should now look notably better but a huge portion of this is focused around some of the wall Road and even s Textures in some of the major cities in Starfield you'll notice a ton of upgrades all throughout these major locations and one of the nice Parts about this mod is I feel like you can genuinely notice the changes some areas just have a really nice concentration of improved textures and if you frequented these areas on the old version of the game without this mod you'll definitely notice the upgrade just from natural gameplay using Luma and the HD overhaul together in the astral Lounge just makes it pop so much more this mod will definitely be a big download at least in the download size but thankfully I didn't notice a huge impact on my FPS and I think it does make Starfield look substantially better at points but I'm sure many of you noticed that when it comes to Starfield mods they just aren't quite as impactful as they were at this point with some past games like many of the mods we have right now we largely going to be relying on Console Commands or even replacers we just haven't seen a ton in the way of custom content when it comes to modding Starfield butth though of course this is partially just because we're in the early days of modding there's also a deeper cause for all of this Starfield is just not quite as modable as some of the past Bethesda games at least as it exists exists right now so I am planning a full and much deeper dive into this with a future video get subscribed for that one but as Starfield exists right now it is quite far from the modders paradise that it has been described as for starters lots of the things were changed with the game as a result many of the existing mod tools need to be fundamentally Rewritten to work with some of these changes and a rewrite on that level is going to be several months to even years of work it's not like this is just a simple task even further the game was clearly made without modding in mind so as some of the things from like let's say Fallout 4 or Skyrim that had one or two dependencies now in Starfield have four or five making the entire process more intricate as well as installing and creating mods a lot more delicate because it's a lot easier to break things a lot of things are going to be mapped individually in different parts of the game code creating a complex web of interactions that can be very easily broken and just overall things are much more bloated with starfields code not to mention that as things exist right now the interaction between plugins and Master files is just a complete mess removing a singular plug-in could end up destroying an entire mod list stally modders still have been hard at work and that's how we have many of the incredible mods we have right now several more of which I'll highlight in this video and we are starting to get some functionality from Community made tools like xedit but just generally speaking the current mod ability of Starfield is going to be far more limited compared to past Bethesda games even at the same point in their life cycle and a lot of this is just due to Bethesda it's not like this is a process of modders to figure it out and fix it it's going to more rely on Bethesda addressing many of these fundamental problems with Starfield but it's Bethesda so of course once those mod tools do come out many of these fundamental issues with the game will be rectified at least probably but until then we're still getting some pretty epic Quality of Life mods like call your ship this is a mod that very easily could have just been a feature it allows you to call your spaceship to your location from just about anywhere so as you're out adventuring and you don't necessarily feel like waiting through several load screens to get back to your ship instead hit a hotkey and a minute later your spaceship will land at your exact location just like calling your horse in Skyrim and there'll even be some nice onscreen HUD elements to give you updates on your ship's status and location there's going to be a few major call options here one where your ship just lands wherever you're currently standing so you can continue running and the ship will track you down and land wherever you are or you can just assign a fixed spot so the ship will land wherever you called it in from which can be really handy you could set a landing spot it's going to take a minute so then run around go do something take out a bunch of enemies and your ship will land in very cool fashion asure get away from an otherwise tense situation and if you're somebody who is constantly getting over encumbered in Starfield this is a must download mod for you but are you tired of those fights against the starborn just being incredibly underwhelming I mean yeah sure they're decently tough enemies but the fact that you can't even loot them just makes those fights so unrewarding well starborn Bounty will fix that this mod will add in three new variables to starborn so upon death they're going to reward something extra this could just be extra Essence they always drop one Essence upon kill but now occasionally you'll get a few extra from specific starborn the most common variable is loot ability so about 60% of the time you'll now be able to actually loot a starborn body you'll easily be able to tell this because they will no longer turn into Essence but there also is the third variable with owed as taking out empowered starborn will either give you a new power or level up one of your powers if you have it already so now Upon finishing the enemy that Temple animation will play and you'll notice a new power added to you or a new level to one of your existing ones typically you could level these up by doing New Game Plus over and over but with how rare starborne are I feel like this is a phenomenal way to make those fights far more meaningful and interesting especially if you're sick and tired of doing the temples with new game plus which I think is just about everybody then we do have seek out stores as a part of Connor's ordinary conversations this model make it so you can ask NPCs in any of the major cities where something is and they're going to give you directions this covers everything you can ask for food supply shopping or even just general locations and the NPC will answer giving you a new Mis Quest pointing towards that location so you could easily find it this is perhaps the simplest mod I cover in this video but at the same time perhaps one of the most helpful for many of you I'm harble with directions in real life and as you can imagine new Atlantis is a complex maze to my brain but this simplifies things it makes finding whatever you need incredibly easy and if you're ever struggling just flag someone down and ask them and the exciting part about this one is it's a part of a larger plan with Connor's ordinary conversations seeking to implement a variety of new ways to interact with NPCs in Starfield so this is really just the first step to something larger variable Contraband prices will make your smuggling efforts actually worth it so now when you're selling Contraband in a city where you need to pass a scan first you're going to get a far higher sale price compared to something like the den where you don't need to be scanned at all and you can just easily fly in this of course makes a ton of sense Contraband is going to be much harder to get your hands on in a location where they're actually checking for it so of course it's going going to be worth a lot more more visualized docking will give you a few angles and perspectives while docking or undocking at stations I really like this one for two reasons on one hand it just ditches that black and white aesthetic which I was never a huge fan of but also it does offer a really nice amount of novelty to the game for many of us we've been playing Starfield for tens to hundreds of hours at this point so having the docking sequence look cool new and unique is just fun it is a nice change up and exactly why I download mods like this more popular space will make it so you are 50% more likely to have a space encounter when jumping around from system to system St I have a really important question for you do you know the way to Uranus and then adding to the star UI Suite we also do have star UI workbench this going to be another must download mod for those spending time crafting in Starfield it'll make workbenches in Starfield notably more Compact and snappy but at the same time they'll present more information to you and have a ton of incredibly useful sorting options you'll be able to more clearly see see how various weapon attachments or mods will impact their stats or even if you just want the most damage easily sort to that and for manufactured resources you can quickly see how many of these you already have in your inventory or how many you could create with the items you do have on you overall it's going to be a huge quality of life Improvement for crafting across the board so even if you're just using the crafting system occasionally I think this mod is a must download and a gigantic help but that in mind those are some of the incredible new mods to come to Starfield as well as a brief overview of some of the problems facing mods right now now but if you are interested in more mod content check out this video where I give you a ton more great mods to download
