I like jay. He makes a lot of sense to me. I’m not into all the techno lingo because it does t matter to me. I look at price and performance. I do like Linus and gamers nexus and nexus is really technical.

and 1 video later he tells people to upgrade.

Most of the time it’s not worth upgrading every generation but normally after 3 it’s worth it tbh. Ray tracing kinda screwed up the video card game though

what's up guys js2 cents here and we're gonna have a talking headpiece today you know one of those videos where i urge you to minimize it because there's really nothing to show and i mean although i'm beautiful you guys don't really want to look at this trust me we're going to talk about upgrading your systems and whether or not you're truly obsolete because i'm seeing an awful lot of these really stupid comments floating around social media where people are giving each other hard times because last gen rising that pc is old and obsolete nothing pisses me off more than seeing someone put down someone's system that they're proud of simply because it doesn't meet their standards so let's go and talk about that today let's put some ease into your into your brain buckets on whether or not you need to upgrade your system or whether or not you're suddenly obsolete because some troll thinks you are [Music] corsair's 4000d af delivers optimized front panel airflow and maximum cooling for your pc and with its built-in rapid route cable management keeps your system looking tidy while also staying extremely cool the equipped corsair 120 air guide fans provide directed air flow allowing you to fine tune the components you want to keep cool to see the full list of features and configurations for the corsair 4000d and 4000d af click the link in the description below this video is guaranteed to ruffle some feathers out there because what i'm about to say when it comes to some people giving people unnecessary pressure people watching right now that i guarantee have done that so first of all to those people i'm gonna say stop that stuff second of all we're gonna talk to those people right now that are seeing new hardware launch this is it's probably one of the most stressful times to be in the market for anything uh new when it comes to computer and component launches we've got new cpus from amd we've got blog posts talking about new stuff from intel apparently we've got new stuff from nvidia we've got new stuff from amd's radeon division which means that it's just a stressful time to try and decide whether or not now is when you should pull the trigger on spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars on new computer hardware let's start off by talking about the wrong reasons to buy or build a new computer just because someone tells you it's time that's the worst reason to buy or build a new computer trust me you put your pictures up of your systems they look lovely you're proud of it and then someone why'd you go with that that's slow why'd you go with that that's old or i would have done this or i would have done that it's like cool story bro this is i didn't build this hoping it would meet your standards i built it because it meant mine that's the way that people should look at it i mean nebula that's not nebula back there that's the smaller cousin okay that's black ice but nebula black guy skunk works the threadripper symbiote build does the threadripper build every single build i've ever done has gotten some of the stupidest critiques out there because people like to take their small little subjective tastes apply it to it and go well that's stupid because i would yada yada and then i see people doing it to other people's builds and it's just it's not a community when you put down someone's computer simply because it doesn't meet your standards there's nothing wrong with you having different standards what's wrong is you applying your standards to someone else and then putting them down for it that's stupid but when it comes to building computers there's a million different ways you could do it i for one am one of those people that i'm super happy that you have choice in 2020 no longer is it well i went with amd because it was cheaper i went with amd because it was a better value for budget now you can say i went with amd because it's the fastest or i went with intel because i trust it a lot more so with my compatibility of my programs and my hardware there are reasons why you could go with either platform and when it comes down to your reasons they're your reasons and no one can tell you that you're wrong as much as people are gonna try people are gonna try very hard to convince you you're wrong because your opinion is different than theirs there are facts and there are opinions when it comes to computers there are facts on which ones are faster than others there are facts on which ones cost more than others but there are opinions on which ones are right for you and there are opinions on which ones are better faster does not always equal better one of the things i've talked about with amd platforms and yes i'm going to get to the recommendations of whether or not you should upgrade when you should upgrade and all of that but first you have to understand where we are to try and set aside the frivolous opinions versus the actual facts and then you can maybe better understand what it is you need and set aside all the comments people are going to try and bark at you about what you should do with your money and your systems it is a fact for us specifically in this studio with our hardware the weirdest problems we've ever encountered have been with amd and the reason for that i firmly believe it's because it's behind the curve in true development qa qa qc support for companies like microsoft adobe for sure a lot of game manufacturers game launchers for the longest time it felt like that platform was secondary to making sure things were as stable as possible there's nothing wrong with the hardware it has everything to do with the secondary support that was needed to make it polished and we're getting there we are there now in fact when it came to testing our 5000 series cpus the only bug the one weird bug we came across and and phil will attest to this and and all of the testing i've done from ryzen one up until now there used to be some weirdness with bios super weirdness with turbo behavior microsoft updates just all kinds of craziness now we've gotten to the point to where the only bug i've encountered is msi afterburner not wanting to save its settings with a certain game on a certain platform we're talking about at least for us it was the fact that msi afterburner would completely ignore whatever whatever settings we had set in far cry 5 on the amd 5000 series cpu that's it and that's that's that's very isolated to one piece of program and i can say ubisoft that's on you whatever you're doing causes msi afterburner to reset restart and forget our settings if that's the least you have to worry about a new platform then we've made it to the point to where i can finally recommend amd over intel without saying but or any sort of a caveat whether or not it's time to upgrade though has everything to do with the fact that your computer needs to be able to not do what you need it to do in the time you need it to do it you're going to hear a lot of people say why are you on intel go amd and the reason for that is going to be because amd spent so many years as an underdog imagine you're a proud amd owner you've got your 8350 fx 8350 cpu and you've got your old crosshair motherboard you've got your ddr3 and it's your system it's all you could afford it's what you built and you've held on to it for like eight years and you're looking at it going well it doesn't exactly do too well on the benchmarks these days but it's mine and i'm proud of it and you post it and all the intel fanboys huh look at you you're old you're slow why would you go with that piece of crap because until ryzen came around and then started becoming adopted that was really what the landscape looked like intel owners dog piling on amd owners because well fanboys dog piling on them because you're the underdog what happens when that underdog becomes alpha dog well people want some revenge and we're seeing that now so it's becoming a lot more difficult to differentiate opinion from fact when it comes to which platform is better which you should upgrade to and when you should upgrade unfortunately i'm seeing a lot of people that are adopting new 5000 series cpus suddenly talking down to people on older series ryzen because they're faster than the older series now and you're having fighting within their own circle yeah sad to see it's really sad to see when it becomes time to upgrade though it's one of those things where don't feel you need to upgrade your cpu or your motherboard or your graphics card because someone tells you it's time the only right time to upgrade something is when you truly feel like you're gonna get a benefit out of what it is you're gonna spend going from a 3900 x and this is a this is an exact question i was asked should i upgrade my old 3900x to a 5950x when did the 3900x suddenly become old that cpu has barely been around a year that cpu is still giving you the amazing uplift that zen 2 gave us it it gave us it gave you performance that you couldn't get at that price point with intel and it's it it did not suddenly become slower because something newer came out it's not the fastest yes i know there's a 3950x but this was the way the question was phrased it's not the fastest today but it didn't suddenly get slower at rendering videos it didn't suddenly become incapable of live streaming it didn't suddenly knock 25 fps off your games it's still giving you exactly what you what it gave you when you built it and just because we're seeing hardware start to expand both laterally you know horizontally and vertically and by horizontally i mean the amount of cores and vertically is the core the core speed we are seeing competition at its finest which is unfortunately creating a rift in people arguing over whose computer's old and obsolete i've had people ask me if i'm retiring nebula because it's obsolete two 20 80 tis for the win three graphics cards with custom bios mind you that will allow me to go to almost 20 250 megahertz which is a lot for 20 2002 there's a lot for 3000 series as well but with a 9980 xe 18 core 36 thread intel cpu asking me if i built this which by the way cpu-wise is a lower spec than nebula because it's obsolete and that's the kind of crap i'm talking about the person probably didn't mean it facetiously but to throw around the word obsolete simply because new stuff is out and you know what let's put it this way if you're on a 3900x you're not going to go and upgrade to a 5600x simply because it's a newer higher number that would still be a slower computer upgrading is something that is i think stressful for anyone because you want to make sure you get the most for your money but we're seeing a time right now when people are frivolously upgrading without the need and when we see people rushing out right now and lining up around micro center twice you know twice around the block because they want to get a new graphics card they want to get a new cpu it's it's insane 2020 has given us probably the most uplift in performance that we've ever seen for pc but we're also seeing the demand higher than ever so right now is probably a terrible time to buy as well because the chances of getting something without it being scalped and the prices being inflated is very low anyway graphics cards they're a whole different discussion though simply because of the fact that you don't have to look at doing an entire platform upgrade just to upgrade your graphics card uh unless it's really really old like i wouldn't put a 3080 on say an fx 8350 you want to talk about bottleneck city i'd be surprised that graphics card ever hit 50 utilization but when it comes to cpus especially intel you've got to get a motherboard a new cpu they never really support the previous chipset or socket they constantly are moving around a few pins just to make sure you can't amd's obviously proven that you can keep the arrangement the same and continue to upgrade just furthermore exposing intel's greed and lies but when it comes to graphics cards it might be the one time you'll hear me recommend if you're on anything amd right now it's worth an upgrade especially if you're on anything vega fury x or well fury or uh radeon 7 because the amount of uplift that they have gained in one generation going from the 5700 xt and yeah i would recommend an upgrade from there too if you have the money because we have seen now the amount of well during the keynote anyway if you take those benchmarks with a grain of salt as you should because third-party reviews are the ones that you should always listen to not just the manufacturer they have made up so much gap in one family of graphics card change well it's an entire redesign to be honest and when they came through hbm but that's a whole different story that's a fun history lesson about them going down the pathway of hbm and then realizing that was wrong changing direction to the ship having a mutiny you know all that sort of stuff happened seeing the amount of territory that they've made up and regained performance wise from one generation to the next versus any of the incremental increases we've seen in video do that's impressive no matter who you are and if you're on a 5700 xt a 6800 xt the amount of improvement you're going to see with this new generation of graphics cards is enough to warrant any upgrade as far as i'm concerned if you have the money and you're a gamer and you want all the fps and you're an amd fanboy absolutely go with the full ecosystem on amd and profit but the difference there is that you're getting a tangible huge improvement for that not a couple of percent you know an intel cpu launch a new family of cpus before they were giving us a couple of extra cores and calling it extreme i'm talking like 700 k to a 7 700 k 2 and 87 not 8 700 extra course they were the same core count same thread count and about 5 uplifting performance that's terrible that's crumbs that was literally them just like throwing a few crumbs to their buyer base and hoping everyone stays happy and doesn't see through all of the you know cloaks and smoke and and mirrors that they're showing regarding oh we can't put that many cores on this substrate that's impossible 10 course 20 threads later you know what was impossible is telling the truth but moving on don't let people tell you it's time to upgrade don't let anyone press you into feeling it's time to upgrade your computer's not obsolete suddenly we all want the new stuff and it doesn't help that channels like ours definitely definitely show a lot of the high end it also kind of sucks and yes this you guys probably gonna believe me but it does kind of suck when companies oftentimes only want to send their top tier product it's kind of like best buy they want to put the biggest brightest tvs on the wall i mean that's the way you should never look at it in your home dynamic mode is awful that's a whole different subject they want to look good against their competitors so they send us their biggest most powerful stuff but i can promise you this holiday season we are going to be showing you budget options as well that are worth considering that are not going to require a mortgage to build your new computer anyway i just want to kind of put up this video putting some people at ease and maybe get some people maybe pump the brakes a little bit on getting ready to run out and spend unnecessary money on an upgrade that at the end of the day they might just be disappointed with because they're not going to notice in a blind taste test much of an improvement over their previous stuff especially if they're trying to do every single year upgrades which is the biggest waste of money you could ever do when it comes to computer pathways for upgrading thanks for watching guys if you've got a good piece of advice for anyone down there that's considering upgrading their computer put your best advice down below let's try and keep it civil because let's face it opinions and facts very blurry these days they all just kind of like no one can really tell who's opinion who's facts so have at it good luck see you in the next one this video is guaranteed to rile ryle this guaranteed guaranteed video
