[Music] welcome to our demonstration on replicating and recovering a virtual machine with vSphere replication here we have a diagram of our environment showing two sites each with its own vCenter server virtual appliance there is also a vSphere replication virtual appliance at each site we will be replicating from site number one to site number two here we configure vSphere replication on one of our virtual machines we click Linux VM 0-3 and then click actions we go to all these sphere replication actions and click configure replication this opens up the configure replication wizard for that virtual machine we see that two sites are available as a replication target VC which is our local site site 1 and VC 2 which is located in site 2 we choose our second site VC 2 click Next now we select the storage at site number two where the virtual machine will be replicated we click NFS three and click Next here we have the replication settings we adjust the recovery point objective to two hours if this were a Windows VM we would also have the option to specify guest OS quiescing and click Next click finish at this point vSphere replication will start replicating Linux VM zero three to verify the virtual machine is being replicated we click on vSphere replication click sites here we see that the virtual machine is being replicated in this case Linux VM 0-3 has started its initial full synchronization now we'll recover a replicated virtual machine so we click on vSphere replication click sites and then click on site number 2 here we notice that Linux VM 0 2 is not active that is because it is powered off at site 1 to recover Linux VM 0 2 at site 2 we click on the recover replicated virtual machine icon here we have two options for recovery one is recover with recent changes and the other is recover with latest available data we select the second option and click Next now we need to specify the location at site number 2 we choose datacenter 0 to click Next we select a compute resource for that virtual machine which is cluster 0 - in this case click Next notice we have the option to power on the virtual machine after recovery we will keep the default setting and click finish after a few moments the virtual machine is recovered at site number 2 to validate the virtual machine is recovered and powered on we go to VMs & templates we can see here that Linux VM 0 2 was recovered in site number 2 and powered on this concludes our demonstration on replicating and recovering a virtual machine with vSphere replication thank you
