INTERVIEW: PLAYTIME WITH JOKOY!

Oh like joking live in the Philippines you don't Manila make some noise I was doing I would do that you know I mean it like kind of pretend like a ton of people were there to see me you know I mean and now it's happening now it's happening so it's just such a beautiful thing that I'm actually living my dream right yeah and it's really really happening like this is crazy it's unbelievable it's sold out in just a few hours yeah nine thousand yeah I'm gonna try my hardest to hug everybody in the eye oh yeah yeah I'm gonna run out there okay they're wearing about the beefed up security I know cuz I'm gonna run out there i'ma hug every single fan that came in there I'm gonna try my hardest I promise you and I'll keep coming back and I will keep representing Filipinos to the dad thank you for doing what you do but how was that Walk of Fame experience with Katriona we came at the end with everybody it was so much fun it's just fun to you know for all of us I'll just speak on behalf of all of it everyone it always feels good to be recognized especially inside a business that we're in we're so lonely you know I mean we all we're always waiting for a response for our reward you know especially comedy when it's silent that means you're not doing good you know yeah so when you hear laughter or if you hear so I go oh my god that was great or uh hey can we give you this award like it means a lot because there's a lot of times where we're in the dark and silent you know we're in a room and it's silent you know we don't know we have no idea so it's for everyone I'm speaking on behalf of everyone Manny I know we all just felt very very good you know they like it just felt so good to be recognized more for you it's like a welcome gift like welcome back I know that was so cool just to be able to have that there and you know my son brings his family here when he's older you know he's able to show what his dad did and and you know and my whole goal is like I want to like really inspire other Filipinos or even half Filipinos like myself you know and to embrace your culture and and really like like uplift and like you know know that there is opportunity you know no matter where you're at in the world and I know some people have it a lot harder than others you know but there is one thing that you can do is you can live your dream as hard as it is right you can still live it you know right it's so dry out here no it's fine it's okay I'll just eat it well I got water this is okay I just I tell you I'm gonna be doing this a lot in your interview know what's wrong with a lot of things you got a surprise like funny was that well you know what I love about that man is um cuz you know everywhere I go at the end of the show there's always like two or three people with Vicks what I love about that joke was it was a perfect example of how relatable something can be it doesn't matter that my mom's Filipino and you don't have to be Filipino to get it because when I go to Nashville there are no Filipinos coming to my show you know there's maybe three four maybe six at once the rest of that theater is other kid I mean and they're coming up to me with Vicks VapoRub and haven't you sign it which means they relate like they say oh my mom used to do that so it's it's cool that that yes I am Filipino and I'm telling my Filipino story but it's really cool when someone else that's not Filipino goes my mom did that too right because I know it's just a mom's right right and that's that's the beauty of comedy well for your show tonight yeah your shows here in the Philippines need to customize it a bit never okay never either went to an open mind Hey most of our yeah yeah man what the model how do I say Mo's more know what Elena's Makani no maithili no Intel yeah Maddie no uh-uh and I went there it's like underneath like so Chinese restaurant or something is just it's just a bar and they were doing western-style comedy and uh and I was like this is cool they were all shocked that it was there they're all like nerve what house man yeah no one else man I never do I don't like to because if I do then it's gonna be chaos right and then uh so I was watching them go up and there's some funny guys out here man you know some we're doing a western style comedy not so slapstick ehm and which is fine you can do slapstick because you know Filipinos have a lot of slapstick right and then uh but this was very traditional stand-up Western stand-up but they were delivering in Tagalog which was even really cool that's even more cool and then then I saw a Japanese guy that just moved here three years ago and taught himself how to speak Tagalog and he was doing western-style stand-up with the golem mm-hmm so at the end of the show I I told my sister approach the three guys that I liked that night I even I went up to I went up and performed and then I went up to the three guys and I was like how would you like to go in front of my crowd Wow tonight yeah they'll be here today oh so I'm gonna put them up tonight and let them see what what that situation that they're in now could lead to if you just stay focus and stay on the grind right because you never know when opportunities gonna hit you right right that's why I always said perform anywhere right like I'll perform anywhere especially you know before all this happened for me I would be at a restaurant I would be in a bar wherever there was stand-up I would perform because you never knew what was gonna happen but did somebody give you that opportunity my first opportunity was given to me by my biggest opportunity was given to me by Jon Lovitz so when Jon Lovitz saw me at the Laugh actor he took me on this huge tour you know Here I am opening for one of my idols you know and so that's the same thing you know you never know who's gonna walk in and see you so it was kind of cool that I got to walk in and see that and now you're paying it forward and now I'm paying it forward but everyone should do that I'm not trying to say like like like I'm never one of those guys that like oh yeah this is what I did for them you know to me like met someone I'm getting it like I just love talent you know and I and I see that there's a you know when you see one yeah there's passion man passion behind that and I like that and I want to see them up here tonight you were right you know you know you get to see this it's gonna happen I've done those rooms right right that's that's pretty cool it really touched my heart you know and for them to say like oh we watch you on YouTube and that's how we're got inspired we're learning I love that because what they're gonna do now is inspire people here good and that makes me even more happy good you know fast and Sebu can't wait to see you it's crazy I'm sorry that's not my fault you know why we had to postpone hold on your cameraman his answer his phone I yeah it's unfortunate you know with what happened Oh God my prayers go to to everyone out there I'm gonna do my best to bring awareness to that but I'm also gonna like try and get people to get some money out here as well I mean of course right like I'll do my part and then I'll just promote what I did and hopefully that will inspire other people to to do that too it's always sad to see like people with situations like that yeah yeah and just to close find a puss on it I'm sorry there's no way we can fly they grounded all the planes yeah yeah really bad oh my God he's interviewing me like this no well you asked Nixon makes an essay so do you
