interrupts to words enter and RuPt enter means in the midst of or between corrupt is short for Upshur which means to fracture or to break lastly conversation means an exchange of thoughts feelings or ideas to walk into fine faith you will have to interrupt the conversation of your mind the culture and the world is removed it's time to interrupt the conversation [Music] [Applause] so father we thank you today just for the blessing of being together yes I pray for every person is watching us Lord I pray you touch their homes and their families open our eyes and the hearts cause us to know you even in these times we love you Father father today we pray as we go into your word you you add insight for oversight and calls us O God to leave this time of ministry this time of teaching stronger and better than ever before yes in Jesus name Amen amen listen welcome our to this portion of our virtual church I know it's been a minute since we've been together but listen keep be patient at the right time the Lord is gonna have us back together again today I want to continue this series on interrupting the conversation and I have a special guest with me today are dr. LeBaron Hegeman from freedom Rock Church in Meridian Mississippi dr. Hillman welcome today thank you so much doctor and I'm so glad you came and I'm glad to be here how is it going in Meridian with your people everything is going as going well you know in light of everything we're still standing in faith you know but everything is going good trusting is wrong yes trust in God yes sir yes sir trusting God we're in this series of lessons dealing with interrupting the conversation right and so we work with the definition of interrupts this would interrupt means between in the word RuPt is short for rupture the fracture to break and we're dealing with this issue of actually cutting cutting off a conversation is basically going left or that's gonna leave you at a disadvantage when we were growing up my parents to say oh do not interrupt without accent permission I know yeah that's right you got to interrupt what I want to talk about today what we will deal with today's this issue of recognizing when the enemy is speaking so we could probably interrupt the conversation yeah so we could lay hold on the promise of God there's a scripture in the Bible I referenced it the last time I spoke and it's dealing with this this topic of how are the spies are 10 spies went to investigate the promise of God they went into the Promised Land and the Bible says they were after they come back with this report and when of course the ten spies and while the eight of them was speaking they're convincing the people of how horrible things are if this thing is just what God promised but man we up against a lot I want to read some of that text because I want to begin there today it says the Bible says then they told the story of their trip we went to the land to which you sent us and oh it does flow with milk and honey just look at its fruit and they brought the fruit back the only thing is that the people who live there are fierce their cities are huge and well fortified worse yet he said we saw the descendants of the giant a knack we saw these big people there and listen in verse 29 he says America is spread out in the Negev Hittites Jebusites and amirite hold the hill country and the Canaanites established on the Mediterranean Sea along the Jordan yeah and then in verse 30 the Bible says kailath interrupted what in the middle of what they're talking about Caleb interrupted call for silence before Moses and said let us go up and take the land now we can do it yeah and and that scripture spoke to me about how he just interrupted the conversation because he saw the testimony of these other leaders it was about to steal or rather people of God's best yeah that's so powerful because you know it's so amazing to me that God had already told them yeah this is your I want you to have this yeah and then they get there and they lose sight of what God said in light of what he did not say yeah about the Giants I think Caleb saw that hey we're drilling from what God said yeah everybody quiet yeah but it isn't easy to do isn't easy to to get off-track sometimes especially in a situation like this where the leaders these were leaders leaders of the tribes of course if your tribal leader is speaking the first thing you're gonna do is show honor to the person not even taking in that what they're saying is not in your best interest yeah that is so what I want to do today is I want us to just kind of go into this issue of of conversations and how conversations to play out there are times when we interrupt the current flow of things well we have to interrupt the current flow of thoughts the ideas and the feelings that people are actually divesting interest or depositing in to us their times what we have to do because if we don't do it we can end up in a place where we were robbed of God's best yes you know you're talking to me we were talking before we came on and you're talk to me about this story of Jesus and Peter and I like to just begin to pick up there and talk about this issue of how many times we allow the enemy to speak to us because his voice is not familiar but the person we're dealing with this familiar yeah let's talk about the son there's that it's so powerful it's amazing to me that in that story Jesus addresses Satan in Peter and we recognize there are times when the devil will try to attack you or speaking to you directly and oftentimes those are things that take place in our head rather than sleep subconscious the whispers of the enemy you know the thoughts that he bring but then he'll oftentimes come through another individual like in this sense and amazing to me when we understand the context of the conversation Peter has just gotten a revelation yeah that you are the Christ the Son of the Living God Jesus says you begin to go on the tale then look tell no man that I'm the Christ and he began to tell them the things he must do you know Peter who meant well he meant well and that's usually the problem he meant well yeah yeah but he was wrong you know and so amazing to me dr. Rams is that in that particular situation where he begins to speak Jesus recognized that this goes against what God has ordained and there is a boldness of protection yeah of destiny yeah that we have to be willing to speak out against yeah and so it's amazing me that the devil speaks through Peter because can you imagine the agreement and the intimacy how securing that may Jesus feel for Peter to have a revelation of who he was yes he imagined how it made Peter feel to be right in the revelation yes so to say to use he uses someone who Jesus cares about and then you use someone who Peter cares about yeah and so just because people are good people doesn't necessarily mean that they cannot be instruments of the enemy and we have to be bold enough to interrupt that I love it because we only see in two other occasions where Jesus says get thee behind me yeah one is in the wilderness directly with Satan speaking speaking to the devil get thee behind me okay when he said I'll show you all these kingdoms in a moment of the time here it is again he says get thee behind me but now he's speaking to the devil and Peter and I think it's important to understand the reason why he did that was because Peter was in to interfering with the unfinished work we never see Jesus say this again post cavalry hmm but he says get thee behind me pre Calvary here because you're trying to prevent what God has ordained to take place but this is where it gets amazing to me but what's crazy about it is is that well on the one hand you actually preventing the plan of God but in your mind you're protecting the man of God above the person of God yes so Peter thought he was protecting Jesus from something yes he did he did and that's what's so amazing because Peter had insight into destiny yeah this is the Christ okay but he did he had no insight into journey ah and the enemy will speak through people to get us to abort or become uncommitted to journey yeah because in God there is no destiny without journey right and we have to be able to discern in those moments the need to recognize Satan yeah and so he said no we're not gonna allow that to happen to you and Jesus just so profoundly after he rebuked Satan he didn't comes back and he says you're saying things that be of man yeah not of God oh you say what are you saying what I want to hear you but not what God has ordained wait let's talk about that you saying what I want to hear yeah what what danger does it pose when you have around you surround yourself the people who don't understand the importance of a voice that at times has to confront even the way you even the way you've seen things maybe confront your perspective to protect your process yes oh that's good because what happens I think what happens to us many times is that and the people around there's no one you people say well I don't want yes man but but technically we don't want you know man either we don't worry just who's just say no just say no right but we want wise men who know that that sometimes the process leading to the goal could be painful yes and you have to have people around you like you said who again have insights into methods not just manifestations and so oftentimes when people are only conscious of manifestations they're they're looking forward to what we're going to get what we're going to have but they're very much so blind when it comes to processing so they can make suggestions that are unhealthy for process yeah and this is what they eat me this is what he works the most right because now we abandon process that's necessary and we never see manifestations right right he does that through voices of people like you said who oftentimes can get offended when the interruption take place but at this moment is not about necessarily the feelings and the offense is about protecting the destiny right many times what we tend to do is we tend to have our defenses up we put our ears on what we're speaking to an enemy so Satan knowing this he's not gonna come as the enemy taking very really matter of fact I dare say we hear more truth maybe sometimes some ignorant of perspective but we hear more truth my enemies then many times we could hear from our friends that's true because our friends understand our destiny and they don't understand that that our process is what governs how the history is told about getting to one beginning and so I believe it in our min Peter situation like you said he was trying to heed heed his intent was not to prevent it right it was to protect the person how much danger are we in when we know we have a sense that the person with us or the person who's speaking to us is saying the wrong thing but we respect that person too much to interrupt how much danger do there is very dangerous because that refusal to confront that refusal to reestablish journey reestablished truth really in the matter will cost you destination yeah it really will and so often times you have to look at it this way it's just like having ten people around you who love you so much you you have no reservations about their love for you and their care for you but they around you and you have a place to reach except they're all blind oh yeah so it's not a matter of intent it's a matter of insight and correctness yeah so when I'm interrupting I'm not necessarily questioning your intent that's why Jesus never said Peter yeah cuz he understood I'm not addressing Peter Peter you're antennas well yeah but I've got to interrupt this is demonic suggestion ah that's going to try to convince me that I could still have destiny without journey you know what's interesting is so so then of course you know what's happening in the news right now with race relations and all yes so a lot of people are uncomfortable with the kind of peace that that arm is actually disruption there's a piece that's the product of justice and there's a piece that's the product is a negative piece Martin Luther King called it a negative piece where it just wants quiet they want it peace and quiet instead of if they're peace with justice and so in order to get there people said well let's just reconcile well you can't reconcile until you've had a conversation most death and and then the flow of the conversation a long time is reconciliation or what I found is what I found is people tend to lead to optics optics like washing the person's feet or taking pictures together to show unity when they've never done the home right of interrupting the flow the Kung Fu of thought because conversation by definition it all is an exchange of thoughts ideas and feelings right and so those things are communicated so while we're talking while Peters talking to Jesus for example he's sharing thoughts he shared ideas but he's also actually imparting feeling emotion yeah if there's no interruption in that then it a person could literally change the way you feel about your assignment most definitely most definitely if not initially later on yeah he could have he could if he had not rebuked that he could those feelings could have transferred and like meaning who were on the right track later on I feel like I don't have to do this yeah and really that's where the influence the persuasion the deception works best yeah you know it's amazing to me when you saw about the photo ops and the things like that in the times in which we're living the optics and not wanting to endure the need for conversation yes now it's amazing to me that biblically when we begin to look at the word conversation first Peter talks about for he with called you is holy so be ye holy in all manner of conversation but amazing to me the Amplified Bible there in first Peter says in all manner of living yes because when we look at as conversation God looks at as a matter of living yeah so when we want to do things like take pictures together we want to do things like do the political things to make it look like things are now better and we just want peace we're really avoiding the conversation because we don't want to change our manner of living yes sir and we will never really have God our third piece yeah without conversation because we've not addressed the way of living in order to dress my way of living you got to deal with my way of thinking right so when we look at conversation we have to be willing to abort some of the things that we've been married to that are not right in God right and so there's a piece that says look I just want everything quiet children running around I'm laying on the couch y'all be quiet I need peace okay so there's a piece that is actually being promoted which says okay everybody calm down but it's not justice right okay it's not just and so we cannot get true peace which is rooted in justice without conversation right it deals with their living that's it that's perfect you know a lot of time a lot of times but my first time reading this story in Matthew um as a new believer the first thing that got me was the way Jesus confronted him and it appeared to be an insult yeah I give that give a four-step method for getting to reconciliation in any situation or confrontation conversation contrition which means our broken situation which leads to a commitment to change and preferably in writing yeah legislators yes so but the problem is when when you read Matthew 16 and you look at Jesus and this conversation with Peter it starts with this conversation get thee behind me and in that initially you're taking it back you'd have to talk to him like that and it doesn't I don't think competition requires that we be rude but but we have to find a way to turn us away wait wait I can't do it that way because of what I'm called to duty of the word the word converse for conversation is from the the root word is a Latin word Lettieri and Vitara literally means to turn we get the word invert to turn in you know on extrovert yes you know turn out whatever convert means and this do this to convert means to engage with to become familiar with literally through through engagement together the to lifestyle yeah so going back to what you said about conversation it's not just about how we talk it's about how our hearts floor yes how - think yeah I got it oh one of the one of the things that you pulled it out is that Jesus never spoke to Peter by Navy he actually before a couple verses up he said um and that what Peter yes upon this rock I will build my church yeah when he gets down to this place he never mentions Peter yeah you started to talk about that and I think that's so powerful because we know you know Simon initially meaning hot-tempered Peter now means solid as a rock you know stable and so I think which deals with an emotional state even its degree is personality but the reason why Jesus never say it Peter was because this issue has nothing to do with your personality this has to do conversation you interrupt it with your manner of thinking yeah seeing Peter you mean well but the enemy is manipulating you your way of thinking yeah yeah you you genuine but at the same time you you you you you're working against what God is wanting to do and that's what we're seeing and a lot of instances people would like to play too but that's you know my heart yeah that person journey I was there hey did you know I wasn't one of them when I was a part of this yeah yeah so they're playing on the idea of feelings and the idea of personality when truthfully the issue is dealing with the way of thinking the manner of living the heart and I love that Jesus shows us that when we do interrupt a conversation I love that Jesus never did say you are Satan he said you know he addressed Satan he never allowed Peter to be offended to believe that he was calling him a devil yeah so I think in times when we do interrupt we have to distinguish between talking to the person and talking to the devil that's operating through the person and I think this is critical also because it it takes us into how serious Jesus was about the interruption yeah and I think that this was already we know something that Jesus didn't want to do yeah I mean just think about this out of all the things he has if I could change anything yeah I don't want to go to the cross right I want to make it clear this is not my wheel right he's sitting in a gun said this is not my way here comes Satan mmm speaking through Peter to speak to what he doesn't want to do and really what he wants to do yeah and so at times when leaders pastors CEOs executives disagree with us often times we can many times here that sternly offensive they'd have to do all of that here but you never know how intense yeah the battery that battle is in what you said and how it relates to really what I want to do but that I don't need to do something that's why Jesus can't make it say that listen our address Satan because what was said was not a god yeah if you everyone that's that speaks like that for me is not you it's not necessarily for my betterment and everyone who speaks like the against me is not necessarily trying to hurt me did what I noticed about this verse as well is that Jesus did not say devil he said Satan oh man and here's was interesting in Zechariah chapter three and Henry submit to you the Bible says it from verse vs. wanted to says then he showed me Joshua the high priest wasn't standing before the angel of the Lord what Satan standing at his right side to accuse him the King James says to resist him this is interesting when I read this in the Hebrew um the the word Satan is used twice but it's translated into English only once this word are standing at his right side to accuse him first of all in a court of law he's standing before the heavenly tribunal standing on the right side he's standing in the place of the prosecutor that's the first thing but the actual verb that's used is in stored the verb sat on so so it reads like this it says then he showed me Josh with a hyper standing before the angel of the Lord would Satan standing at his right hand to Satan him because because Satan is not a name of the devil it's a title yeah and the fact that Jesus said sent us to Peter on get me behind me Satan he there was not such an accusation as much as there was a resistance that the things you're saying to me is resisting my will to do God's will because it's not like you said it's not how would I if I could have any weight we find another way to do it jesus said as much to the father in the Garden of Gethsemane and so I have to speak to this that but matter fact in verse 2 of Zechariah 3 the Bible says the Lord actually interrupt us Satan the by says then the Lord said to Satan the Lord rebuke you Satan may the Lord who has chosen Jerusalem with beep you or isn't this man a burning sticks nights at the fire I'll snatch with a fire and so what's interesting is again whenever Satan's when an infant the enemy comes to speaking as the accuser as the resistor as the prosecutor yeah we have to interrupt him yes whether he's speaking through someone that sounds like it's in my favor or Smith in my own mind I have to resist him because what he's saying is dangerous yes if that thing gets in me I would literally go in the other direction from the other channel I believe Jonah did not resist saying that's exactly what happened and he indigo another places it is yeah right yes that's exactly what happened and you know it really opens to us another satanic device whenever the enemy wants to prevent stop abort destiny he speaks through people as relates to what we desire to do that we've already accepted yeah that God does not want us to do yeah yeah and so we have to have this careful wisdom to know how to understand when people mean well yes but at the same time with what when they are speaking the danger like you just say receiving that you can be to our direction and we have to boldly yeah interrupt that we have to boldly interrupt it yeah it's one thing for me to fight my thoughts I'm gonna have to fight yours too yes you know it puts us at a disadvantage wonders one of the things that that I see as as we do our deliberate over this topic of interrupted conversation is even as pastors how many times have Satan told you since we've not been in sanctuary you gotta get back in that sanctuary really quickly it sounds it sounds like like aside the Holy Spirit trying to give you our direction but I was talking to Pastor the other day and he was telling me how um pastors in his city was saying we gotta get back to the sanctuary first chance we get he said he went to sleep and had a dream and in the dream he saw people in his church just they would they was they were like dad he said they were dead but like no one killed him they won't hurt anything he was just dead he said woke up on my dream and he says God said to me do not miss it thus we have got interrupted the dialogue those happening between all the passes in the media and his government trying to force them back in he said told my people we're not going back to sankarea assume he said as I said that the churches that went back he said they had service and people start getting sick I believe the Lord by the power of the Holy Spirit and through our sensitive others will actually forgive us a language just say but we have to be bold enough to speak the interruption say oh you know I can't do that didn't be good with it and be good with it and because I wouldn't speak to this how much danger in a situation like that is my need for acceptance oh it's very dangerous it's very dangerous because again the enemy manipulates feelings yeah okay because in most instances there are areas where we feel and not function function speaks more to understand it no feeling speaks more to more so to my emotions I can I can have feelings and no understanding if I choose to yeah okay so I think that's important because the feeling of needing to be accepted can push you for that crowd that acceptance that response getting those hugs oh this this this that and really pull you out of the time of your God which again in some kind of way something is being prevented something is being aborted something as being detour and so we have to get to the point to where we accept that and understand that this interruption has nothing to do with feelings yeah and I want to just say something to the Peters real quickly who at times may be in positions in the kingdom of God or even in a secular life and often times feel like they're misunderstood they're this their their opinions and their suggestions I'm not accepted one of the things that is necessary is that we understand the difference between the no we understand the difference and the need to not be overly emotionally attached to our opinions yeah you know so if I don't accept your opinion if I don't accept your a projection yeah or idea it doesn't mean I'm rejecting you yeah yeah you see so so Peter could have gotten over thrown all over the place because oh I'm thinking I'm doing something well and Jesus said that to me right and how many people have lost their place in the influential place in a circle because they felt they took it personal they took it their illusion yeah they felt like rejecting my opinion is rejecting me grab you Zecharia used to say arm an opinion is what you have a conviction is what has you you know it's something like that yeah we have to discern between what's opinion it was conviction yeah because in Peters case I think Peter was just being he's being the protective just like he'd manifested in the garden when he drew his sword because Marcus his ear off ears he felt that that was this place to protect the gift because you understand now Peters life changed when Jesus came into his life yes and so he could not imagine for a second the more going through anything painful in not even a little bit and the danger of this the danger of this is that we could we could actually keep myself in a rut i'ma give you a good example so I remember I remember years ago a friend of mine um I got a ride home from him we were working his job together and he was he said man I got to go over town we're living in Miami I got all over town off to handle situation and everything me was like telling him yo I don't think we should go over there why'd you take me home first we get down to that I didn't want to seem like like a punk yes I went for the ride I got you listen dr. Hirschmann we got to this place right everybody had a gun with me now I'm not safe this is before my sake right and I mean I'm laying first year the cardo and you know I must say I should and I regretted not saying something like interrupting that how many people today are sitting in a prison cell not because they guilty of anything the only thing they were guilty of is not is not interrupting the flow of the conversation that was being had and they just went along for the ride oh that's good they went along for the ride and um so because of that and even leaders like us many times we don't want to we don't want to rebuke the person because there's the fear but we tell my we reject it right but and other times on a subordinate will not reject interrupts the leader because they don't want to feel disrespected so there's the issue of I don't want to reject I don't think I'm rejecting him and I don't want anything I'm disrespecting but sometimes we've got to say what needs to be said even if the governor told even if we watched our posture we've got to said because in speaking we can save a life and interrupting the food we could save a life a lot of people today are racist because someone they made a race a racist joke in front of someone and they never interrupted that's exactly right that's exactly right and that mentality that belief that manner of perspective was embraced yeah yeah and we have to understand that either week we're going to either contribute to something or we're going to prevent something with that interruption yeah it's very very very important Jesus is modeling before us and I thank you so much for being so sensitive to this subject matter in this thought process because this is where we are yeah yeah it is right now this is where we are you know rather there be conversations by phone rather be conversations and meetings press conferences conversations by direct phone conversations rather be by email blogs we have to be willing yeah yeah to recognize Satan yeah and here's the other part that speaks to the degree of boldness that this requires and to call Satan I think a powerful thing Jesus said get thee behind me Satan for thou savourest not the things that be of God but the things that be of men one translation said you're seeing this from a completely human point of view and I think sometimes the human point of view um what is it could seem pragmatically practically could seem like it's all it fits with culture it could make it seem like irrelevant but at times is this it's not god it's not goddess especially as it pertains to you as a person in the direction that you the trajectory of your life yes I believe today that there are many who are watching us and I want to say that those of you watching us they said it's important that you gather from the conversation that God is challenging us not just a speaker and sometimes it's not even forego sometimes it could be sticking me other types of communication that we used to interrupt the conversation in a lot of situations by the Spirit of God I'm speaking to someone right now and you in a circle of people and all this this racial talk is in the media so in the news and you you're in a situation with people who who are having those type of conversation and you just feel like you know the least among them and for you to say something may be an insult or may get you something backlash but I want to say to you the Spirit of God sometimes will happen if you'll say a word then didn't do an act yeah your your involvement you you're breaking the silence so to speak and crossing the lines that they have drawn for you people have drawn the lines and I like that we honor but they dishonor God so that in the interrupting the conversation maybe you know what I'm not willing you to do I give my life to Christ I'm not waiting on you to do what needs to be done I'm gonna do not in not an act of defiance but after baldness this is the way that it has to be I'm gonna fulfill the plan of God for my life and in that way I interrupt the flow of the conversation that's been going on in my life just be understanding that this to me today dr. Fishman is a critical issue not just in the lives of all of believers but in people who need to come to Jesus or people who are heading in a certain direction and people are influencing them and they won't speak up yeah they won't speak up what do you have to say before we go what do you have to say to a person right now whose watching us and they thinking you know person you don't understand I need these people they may be my financial lifeline they may be I may be living in their home how about interrupt the conversation yeah I think that you always take in consideration approach approaches everything sometimes there are various ways that the Spirit of God will lead you in your approach rather it's through and deflecting to a different subject matter initially rather still compliment rather still the reminding of some good meat deed that was done appreciation you know oftentimes try to encourage people to try to the best of their ability lead with a compliment before critique yeah you know either way you have to understand that God is depending upon you yes so there's a matter of even though their professions may be different even though they may play certain roles in your life God is depending upon you because they they have a soul yeah and we're responsible we're responsible to at least acknowledge that's the thing the day has come least because that boldness where we just can't take everything into prayer God is saying I have you there with the earth i convicted you yeah the Spirit of God in me allowed you to feel my conviction in you when they said that yes or when they laughed at that yeah or when they did then yes and so you cannot just pray that back to me I'm depending on you in the earth to interrupt to bring it to someone's attention and sometimes it's not always verbal sometimes just getting up blocking out yeah you know not defiantly not necessarily slamming things and then later on that leads to now the conversation oh did I offend you yes yeah so sometimes the interruption is direct I'm interrupting yeah sometimes I can do I could take a different approach that's not verbal yeah that would be em by default yeah lead to the interruption what's interesting and I've gotta since you gotta mean something uh y-young lady was talking about how she says whenever her friends or members of a family or say anything racist to say what she would do is she asks a question what do you mean by that and she said and as they answer the question I try to kind of pull it in she I don't understand that and she says I will play dumb for the sake of telling them what you're saying is dumb Wow she said altum Utley they get I just read in the other day I read that works in the indirect way or in a person to the terms with this interesting or phenomenon of of the enemy speaking through using a person to communicate his intent his will for their lives which can lead to other rule yes I want to pray for the people today before we go um I want to pray for the people of God that we will have the borders that we have the first a discernment to recognize yes when they when it's the enemies speaking through um good people sometimes right people we look up to people we trust and also take you first to the summit then the bonus to do it in a way to no one to be directly one to be indirect yeah you wanna pray oh you wouldn't those definitely you're glad to yes father God we thank you right now for wisdom we think you've right now father for courage we thank you right now for faith and we pray for those now God who has witness and heard these dialogues and conversations and but God have felt the Spirit of God come upon them to admonish them to act to be willing to interrupt even at times if it rocks the boat if it shakes things up God we pray into their spirit now that they would have boldness God like never before but yet not a boldness that is without restraint but um boldness that's under girded with wisdom and God we pray Philippians one in 2008 that did nothing will they be terrified by their adversaries God but they they be assured that there's no reason to fear there's no room for fear and father we pray now in Jesus name that as these interruptions take place we pray God that as they begin to embrace this assignment and this responsibility that God your grace will grow in their father and lives will be changed as a result of them but importantly they would have a piece and knowing that they did not disobey you but they obeyed you and we give you the glory the honor in the praise for the many lives the many understandings the many perspectives more importantly the many hearts that will be changed as a result of the boldness to interrupt for your glory and your glory alone it's in Jesus name we pray [Music]
