Hey, Michael Church here
with crawlspaceninja.com. Let me ask you a question.
Have you ever found yourself in need of a battery backup
for an existing sump pump? You know, normally when people install
battery backups in a sump pump, they do it during the install process. Well, what if you made a mistake
and you decided to go with a non-battery backup,
and then you figure out, oh no, I really should've went
with a battery backup system? Well, traditionally, you would actually
have to pull out the old sump pump and replace it with a dual-pump
system, which can be a major pain and a major expense. But what I want to do is introduce
you to the Pump Sentry 822PS by SEC, made right here in America. This is a great product that you
can hook up to your existing sump pump, whether it's in
the basement or the crawlspace. Makes things really easy, you're
in and out in 15 to 20 minutes, versus having to replumb,
rewire, and all the other things that a battery backup
dual-pump system requires. Okay, so let's take a look at what's
inside the Pump Sentry 822PS. When you get this shipped to your door
via USPS, UPS, FedEx, whatever, it comes in this box. And you open
the box up, first thing you're going to notice is you have these battery cables. What happens is the sump pump is going
to hook up via a marine battery, okay? So the marine battery hooks up to these
cables, then runs into the Sentry here, and I'll show you in just
a second, all right? So, let's go ahead and get it all out,
so that way, it's easier to explain. Okay, so this is the unit, right here.
And you typically want to mount this above the pump, okay? So the
battery cables will go from the positive and the negative of the battery
into here, and hook up. Then, you will plug in this
to your 110 outlet, okay? And your sump pump will plug
in here. Now, this is our Flotec, half-horse, Pro Series, cast iron,
five-year warranty sump pump. Great, great product. This plugs directly
in here, this plugs into the outlet, and then, the marine
battery plugs in here. What I have here is a case for the
battery, so if you're wondering what this is behind it,
this just protects the battery. The beauty of this is that when you lose
power and the marine battery is kicked in, it utilizes through here automatically. It's a quick switch system,
so you don't lose any power. Most of the sump pumps that are out
there today, the dual-pump systems, it has a weaker pump, okay?
And that weaker pump...you know, when are you going to lose power? You're going to lose power
during a thunderstorm. So that weaker pump now has
to probably pump more water, so it's best to use the same pump. My half-horse pump is going to move
a lot more water than a third-horse or a quarter-horse backup pump, okay?
So we're going to keep the same pump. You're just going to unplug your
current pump from the outlet, put it in here, and then run your positive
and negative to the marine battery. Make sure it's mounted up on the wall.
Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you, whenever the power's on, this guy
is charging your marine battery, so you don't have to do anything. I would recommend you get
a maintenance-free marine battery in order to handle all this,
and these can be bought at your...I got this one at Pep Boys. I don't know if you have a Pep Boys near
you, but if you do, it was about $125. This system is about $640, okay?
And this was $10, all right? So that's what you got, versus a dual-pump
system, paying somebody to come out, change it out, all that kind of stuff. If you find yourself in Knoxville
within 45 minutes of our office, we can do all this for you.
But if you're out there in the world and you want to do this yourself,
this is a great way to add a battery backup to your existing sump pump. So, I hope this was some good information. Please feel free to give
