this video is sponsored by zyro.com hey guys what's up i am nikhil from dopemotions.com and welcome back to this brand new after effects tutorial guys in this video i'm going to show you guys how to create a very dynamic looking instagram real animation inside of after effects now this animation can also be used as an instagram story if you want to and there are some really cool tips and tricks throughout the complete tutorial so make sure you stay tuned throughout the video and enjoy it so with that said let's jump into after effects and get started all right so before we start making or creating stuff let's adjust the workspace accordingly so let's drag this composition panel right over here so we have a much more working space according to our reel so let's start by creating a new composition let's change the width to 1080 and height to 1920 which is the resolution or dimension for instagram reels and instagram stories let's set this to 10 seconds long you can also go with 15 seconds and i'll call this real all right hit okay let's drag and drop in the effects and preset panel right over here so we have a nice working space okay looks good let's start by creating compositions for our placeholders that is going to be images so i'll call this image underscore one you can also use videos if you want to and for the width and height i'll keep it 1080 by 1080 hit ok drag and drop in the image that you want to use or videos that you want to use i just got this images from unsplash one of the my most favorite website to download images from let's select the composition hit ctrl d so we have image to open that up delete this and let's add our second image i'll scale that down let's place it something like so all right let's go back into our main comp and then i'm going to double click on this rectangle tool which is going to create a shape layer we don't need any strokes so i'm going to set the stroke to 0 and set this fill to a nice white color i'll call this bg for shape all right i can hit f4 to switch to uh different parameters right here so then what i can do is go into the rectangle one rectangle transform rectangle one and let's add a skew so i'm gonna skew this by minus six and then rotate the skew axis to 90 degrees so we have something like that and then i can animate the size of the rectangle so unlink this i'll go around let's say let's go to one second and 15 frames create a keyframe on the size and let's increase the height just like that go back and set this to zero so we have a nice and simple animation looks pretty good i can also hit ctrl alt shift k and make sure you're walking your video rendering and effects is set to gpu if you're not using a good gpu you can switch to mercury software only so that is one thing and as you can see we have a very lame animation so to make it look cool i can select the keyframes hit f9 go into the graph editor right click and set it and select edit speed graph let's um pull the time indicator at the very center and then adjust the speed graph accordingly so i can hold shift and try to create a peak into the center but as you can see it can take a lot of time when you're doing too many animations too many complex animation it can take a lot of time so to save some time what i would recommend is using a free after effects script called keyframe wingman which comes with animation composer and it's absolutely free so i can go into windows and launch the keyframe wingman there you go i can dock it anywhere that i want i can select the keyframes and now if i go into my um graph editor let's set f9 i can easily adjust the graph using this handle so as you can see it saves a lot of time let's set this to 95 let's see what we have it's looking pretty nice so let's go ahead and add our text let's select the text tool and you can of course type in anything that you wanna type in creative just like the example and um we don't need any stroke so let's uncheck the stroke we just need the fill and for the fill color i'll go with a nice black and for the font i will be using morganite one of my favorite fonts um let's set this to zero and increase the size really high something like 350 uh let's go with 320 align it into the center and then go into effect send a preset and let's add a transform effect on this in order to add some nice skew of minus six so as you can see it's looking pretty cool let's add a nice simple animation to our text so i'll go into the animate property and let's add first of all position and then add a property of tracking all right so let's bring that down something like um 220 should be good i'll go to one second and also bring the cracking amount really close something like minus 50 and make sure your paragraph is set to center alignment okay and then i can go into the range selector and animate the offset just like so so let's create a keyframe on the 100 offset go back to around 10 frames and set this to zero go into the advanced properties change the shape to ramp up and increase the ease high ease low all the way up to 100 as you can see right over here right so now we have a much more smooth animation maybe i'll go with the offset of minus 100 because we just changed the shape to ramp up so i'll go to minus 100 and now you can see we have this really nice animation i think it's a bit too fast so i'll move this to around 20 frames so we have this nice animation maybe let's go with two seconds yeah that looks much more smoother and finally i will also add a property of opacity bring that down to z row so we have this nice smooth animation as you can see looks pretty cool let's go to two seconds let's animate this so i'm going to animate the scale of this so create a keyframe on the scale go to three seconds and set this to around let's go something like 80. oh one thing we need to do is make sure the anchor point is in the center so i can hit ctrl and um just double click on the span behind tool so it's going to move the anchor point into the center and now it scales down just like that now the benefit of using the keyframe wingman is that i can select the keyframes and just click on this icon so it's going to apply the same graph animation to our text as well pretty cool and let's animate the size of the background shape hit you two times to reveal the size properties create a keyframe i'll go right over here and let's bring that down something like so all right let's select it create the same animation and now we have something like this pretty nice now let's um go ahead and drag and drop in our images image compositions that we um made previously all right so before we proceed further with this tutorial let me take a minute and talk about today's sponsor xyro xyro is get flat 30 off on all their paid plans make sure to check out the link in the description below let's select the first one i'm going to position it right over here second one let's position this just like that all right so let's go let's select the text layer so we can see the keyframes timing let's go to three seconds select the image composition hit p create a keyframe on the position go back and let's drag them out a little bit so i can just select this pull that out a bit select this one pull that out a bit select the keyframes and add the same animation and now we have a little bit of position movement along with the shape looks pretty cool and then i can animate the scale as well so first of all let's set the scale to 1 1 0 create a keyframe go to 4 seconds and set this to 100 i can select keyframes again add the same animation so now we have this really cool look as you can see pretty nice and with this scale out animation i can add our second text so i'll select text tool let's type in dynamic you can of course you know free to type in anything that you want and for this i will be using a helvetica phone let's go with helvetica bold or maybe a helvetica extra bowl bring that down let's zoom in a bit and you use the same color all right so let's set this to around 80 or maybe something like 65 looks good and let's copy the transform effect so hit ctrl c paste it on the dynamic text hit ctrl v so we have the same skew on this text as well and i will also create a box i'll make this gray as of now create this and hit ctrl v to add the same skew on this let's call this box pull this at the back of the dynamic text and let's align this properly i think we can play around with the rectangle size a bit bring that closer increase the size here and i can also align it into the center just like that and for the dynamic text color i'm going to keep it white and for the box color i'll go with the nice black all right so now let's go ahead and animate the second text as well so i'll go to around four seconds select the box layer hit u to read the size properties create a keyframe on the size go back to three seconds and set this to zero select the keyframes and add the same animation so we have this nice reveal and um for the text i can just add a simple position animation so create a keyframe on the position go back to three seconds pull that up and then add the same animation that is looking pretty sweet and i'll go right here select the dynamic text and the box layer hold alt and open square bracket to crop that up and let's see what we get pretty cool and finally i will add a second animation for our text so let's go to four seconds create a new um null object let's pat in the dynamic text the box and the creative to this null object so i'll click right here and let's add a bring up the parent and link option link it just like to this null and let's animate the null so let's call this position for position animation hit p create a keyframe on the position go to around five seconds and let's animate the position up just like that and maybe scale this up a bit just like so all right so i can select this and add the same animation again so let's see our complete animation so far so as you can see this is looking pretty nice and sleek i can also add some nice tint if i want to just in case if you want to use those nice effect make it look a nice black and white reel you can do that i can hit ctrl c ctrl v and it looks pretty nice as well but i think i'll go with the default colors i can also add a little bit of sharpen to this so let's select the image go into effects and preset type in sharpen um let's drag and drop that maybe sharpen off 15 would be good enough let's hit ctrl c ctrl v that is looking pretty nice as you can see pretty cool and the best part is that you can add more and more images to this animation and create a very interesting instagram reel use it as an instagram story if you want to and you know we are good to go with this so i think the final result came out pretty nice you can add some more details and more text and add your logo as well if you want to add a bit more detail into the scene so that is a wrap for today guys i hope you enjoyed this tutorial if you did make sure to subscribe comment like and follow me on instagram at dope.motions i will see you guys in
