so I've been using the ulo action 4 ever since it came out and it has been one of my go-to action cameras for point and shoot videos but now there's a new camera on the market called the Ace Pro from insta 360 and what they've done here is to basically merge the GoPro Hero tool and the action 4 together creating their own camera and I've also added some AI into this to make it a little bit better but the big question is is this going to be better than the action 4 and which of these should you actually get so in today's video I want to share my five key features and key differences between these two cameras and at the end of the video it will be all up to you whether or not these differences are big enough to consider one over the other and if you should decide to pick up one of these cameras there is an affiliate link down in the description below which I will earn uh just a small cut of the price you pay for either of these cameras without you paying anything now let's just head over to low light the first one is low light that's probably one of the main reasons you're here because you want to see the low light differences between these two cameras so I'm going to roll some clips now and you can check for yourself and let me know down in the comments below which you prefer when it comes to everyday low life use Ace Pro or the action [Music] [Applause] 4 [Music] now when it comes to differences between these two in low light the difference is not really that huge it might be now because you see them side by side but if you were watching two separate videos with a week in between you would probably not think of it and you would probably not know which one was shot with which camera and these cameras are basically just tools to share our stories so what it really comes down to is what do you prefer to have in your action camera like features resolution available accessories mounting options and so on and of course if the camera is easy to use so here we have a typical dash cam shot and this was captured on our way to Oso my wife was holding the cameras and this is what I would say you know a typical shot where you want to document your trip now right off the bat here there's not a huge difference between these two cameras both cameras are set to Auto at 4K 30 FPS but the difference here is that the Ace Pro is shooting in active HDR however on this exact clip I do think the action 4 looks better now moving to the end of the tunnel here we also see the benefit of the ace Pro's active HDR where the action for is still blown out the Ace Pro delivers a better light correction and is more appealing to my eyes then we have the next one here both using low light mode on this one so pure video on the Ace Pro and the low light enhancement feature on the action 4 which do you prefer more is it the ace or is it the action4 let me know in the comments below but when it comes to low light videos from these cameras it's mainly when we introduce some movement to these cameras that we see the difference in low light performance so here I'm out doing a late night walk and the Ace Pro is on the left side the action for on the right and the difference is quite noticeable due to the AI optimization on the Ace Pro this stabilization is much better so is the quality even though the image quality is really good on the action for the stabilization is far off and the clip is actually unusable and here's another typical everyday clip where I pull my daughter's shoes out of the car and here the stabilization is good on both cameras but take a look when I actually grab the shoes here we can see a clear difference in brightness now when it comes to Daylight and shooting videos whether this is on a SUNY day overcast whatever both these cameras are looking amazing and there's nothing to complain about when it comes to Quality but what I do see though is a difference in white balance even though both are set to Auto the Ace Pro is more reddish and the action 4 is more greenish but this can easily be changed in post by adjusting the tint slider so I wouldn't qualify this as a huge difference between these two cameras and another thing to note is that the sharpness control is also different on these two cameras when both are set to default the action 4 has more sharpness by default but again this is something that you can also change in camera to give you a more preferred look so not something that would make one better than the other but when it comes to 4K resolution and versatility between these two cameras key featured to the Ace Pro which the action 4 does not have is a free frame video this is something you might be familiar with if you have the insta 360 go2 or three and this basically allows you to shoot a video and reframe the video later like changing aspects and do minor adjustments to the framing it's kind of similar to the X3 360 reframing method though but it's without the 360 or the 360° field of view so whether this is a vertical horizontal a 1ex one or 4x3 video you can change this to whatever you want in just a few seconds using the insta 360 mobile or studio app so here you can just trim your video as you want so let's say you trim out 10 seconds of the video and you can export that as a 16x9 for YouTube and then you can just change the settings to 9 by 16 and Export the exact same video if you want to use it for something like Instagram and the free frame video is now also available up to 4K 60 FPS which is a huge Advantage for me personally which loves to use the same clip here on YouTube and Instagram and now being able to have that 4K resolution I'm used to 1440p On The Go 3 which is is good it works it's nice but you know if I can have 4K I'll take 4K any day now 8K resolution let's talk about that now it's hard for me to tell if this is 8k or not since my monitor is I don't even think my monitor is 4K and even when I watch this on my TV my TV is 4K so I'm not sure if this is 8k or not uh but what I do know though is the intention with the 8K resolution was to allow people to have the clarity Zoom which is another key difference between these two cameras and that means that you can zoom into a two times zoom and still maintain the crisp 4K quality so let's take a look at a few Clips here when I zoom in with the action 4 to match the two times zoom on the Ace Pro the quality difference is quite noticeable and even when I push in like 500% here the difference is even bigger on the Ace Pro I'm still able to read the text on the top here whilst on the action 4 it's completely washed out so having that 8K resolution in an action camera is pretty insane on its own and of course I have 8K I had to put it to the [Music] test [Music] so what do you think does it look like 8K resolution let me know in the comments below now when it comes to the most visible differences between these two cameras it's of course going to be the uh uh overall the sign here and that the Ace Pro actually have this flip screen but I guess you know there's a mixed feelings about this screen and I can see why yes it flips but in order to frame yourself you actually have to flip it which means the screen will be more exposed to damage this also depends on the activity you're doing for me it doesn't matter I would take this flip screen any day because I'm not doing mountain biking or any extreme sport that might accidentally you know crack or break the screen for me doing you know the everyday dad stuff you know doing normal things no action sports there's no action sports in my life this couldn't actually be any better I'm extremely satisfied and happy with how the screen works and it gives me all these different uh uh options to flip it and to use it in a more convenient way so it's more comfortable for me and the best example I have here is that it makes it really more comfortable to shoot videos in all angles so instead of always having to hold the camera up high to just see what you're shooting or to get you know download just to see how the framing is you can actually flip the screen now to a more comfortable shooting position position so because of that I would probably give this the advantage over the action 4 because it just makes it more it's easier it's more convenient when I'm out shooting videos because I can flip the screen now what I believe though is the best feature and the the biggest Advantage Believe It or Not Gest your control because this is going to make it so much easier for me when I'm out riding my motorcycle and man have I tried to press that shutter button with gloves it's just a pain unfortunately I can't test this on my motorcycle now because it's winter but I have been out testing it in the field as they say and I I can almostly say that this is pretty amazing it's consistent it's accurate so this is a huge feature for me personally since I have my motorcycle now I you know I want to write it whenever I can so and I also want to document that and that's also a part of how I make videos here on YouTube so to just have that option to raise my hand to take a video and then you know a piece sign to to take a photo it's just going to be overall easier when I'm out riding the bike and I'm really looking forward to test that in yeah yes four months now I don't want to put the action 4 in a bad light here because like I said in the beginning the action 4 has been one of my most used point and shoot action cameras and I also love the DLo M10 bit color profile coming from this maybe not the 10 bits that matters the most because 10 bits 8 bit here on YouTube after the compression you're not going to see the difference anyway but the dlog M color profile it's so nice it's so easy to use it's so easy to color correct and great and it is my all-time favorite color profile and I think nothing is ever going to change that but the action 4 got something no other brands have out of the box and that is an actual functional USBC compatible audio port so with the action 4 I can use my DJI mic which is the best ever I just love this microphone and honestly I was expecting the USB type c port on the Ace Pro to be well more functional so that is a bummer but the good side is that it still works with the Ace Pro only thing I have to do is to get an adapter just as I would need to do with the GoPro Hero 12 and once I have the adapter everything would work in just the same way but I guess the action force still stands High when it comes to this and the functional USB C Port another thing for the action 4 is also the removable lens cap which I mentioned earlier and I've seen so many comments about the Ace Pro not having a removable lens cap but to be honest I don't really see that problem I've been using action cameras all the way back to Hero 4 Hero Hero 3 hero for silver I think and I haven't scratched a single lens on any of my cameras so I don't see this as being a huge problem if you do a lot of action sports then maybe but maybe this camera isn't for you either so just give it a couple of weeks two three weeks maybe and all these third party Brands will have different accessories for your lens to keep it more secure now which of these cameras are the best which are the best action camera well the term best has to apply to every single person in order to be best but I think it rather comes down to what do you want what do you need do you want all the AI functions that the Ace Pro has to offer including the amazing app and this also has uh the low lights pure video it has 8K if you want to test that out it has the flip screen it also has free frame which is similar to the 8x7 video on the GoPro and the action 4 does not have that so you know it's all up to you whether you need all these features or if you just want a point and shoot a camera that shoots 4K up to 120 FPS which this this also does but you just want a fast you know easy to use pointless shoot action camera with with a magnetic quick Lo system like that you know the action 4 might just be the best camera for you but if you want to expand your creativity if you want to you know take it a little bit further and if you want AI warp for example or if you want to be able to frame yourself better if you're a vlogger well you know the Ace Pro might as well just be the best camera for you but as of durability you know it's it's still hard to say and I don't think anyone has that I don't think anyone has that answer yet because like I said this has only been out for like a week or something now and you can't really say if this camera is durable after a week you have to put it to the test you have to put it you have to use it for a couple of months in order to see how it holds up you know the action 4 holds up pretty well and I would say this is more durable than the GoPro freezing 8 uh because you know that's you know it works when it works and it works when it yeah when it works I don't know but the action 4 I would still say is to me the most durable action camera the Ace Pro is taking versatility to another level so I would say out of these the a pro is probably the most versatile because it has that flip screen all the functions the AI uh assist everything AI highlights even and it's just a more modern camera but if you just need that point and shoot Action Four so you know the decision is hard and like I said durability have to give it a couple of months so maybe in my two months later 3 months later review of the a pro I will have that answer but whichever you decide to pick up of these um you know grab the link in the description below that would be appreciated and also I'm really curious to know which of these that you prefer after looking at these uh these clips here and you know which is going to be your next action camera let me know in the comments below and also don't forget to check out my review and my I would say comparison my raw comparison between the GoPro 12 and the Ace Pro and if you haven't seen it I think you're going to be surpris so I'll leave that down there as well so with that said thanks for watching I hope you enjoyed this video don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already and also hit that like button that really helps pushing this video out so more people can see it and benefit from it as as well and with that said thanks for watching and I'll catch you in the next [Music] one
