Oh there were previous owners that love the place the space and the spot but didn't necessarily understand Lautner as and and what his vision was so there were a lot of attempts to make this a conventional house [Music] Oh there's so many moves that the architect makes that you don't understand the moment you see the house and the more time you spend in it and you go to sleep and you wake up and you stand in different positions and you walk in and out and you start to understand why certain things were done and as those things reveal themselves there are always these really beautiful moments because it's it's sort of like a poem or a song you know coming together in a way where it makes sense and you heard it before but you didn't understand it it was really just a puzzle of putting it back using archival photographs using the blueprints that house was built from and and then just using evidence of what was here it was a house that just had an appendage upon an appendage added and added and it became something very different than what it was [Music] it was never intended to be a perfect house there's a lot of texture there's a lot of movement in a way that's you know very sympathetic to the house sort of aging and taking on its own character over time coming from living in case study twenty-one which was sort of a pristine white museun box that I could never really accomplish it's ideal this house is so much more sympathetic so I think that that's really interesting and I think conceptually but as a way to live I've never felt like I wanted to be anywhere else I've never looked for another house I've never wanted to be you know in any other house and this is always you know felt like my home [Music] you
