all right folks this is jacob with chris smith's office at gardner realtors today we're looking at 1137 second street this may be the most majestic home we have ever had on walk through wednesday for this one i'm gonna have chris helping me because he's an expert on this home and has been very involved in the process of getting it ready to go on the market it's offered at two million five hundred to 1137 second street we are here in the core of the garden district at the corner of camp street and 2nd street what we have today is a home that's believed to be about 150 years old this is a great example of a queen anne victorian it's got elegant architectural details on the outside and also on the inside this is a home that the current family worked for about 14 months to restore they were there was great attention paid to each and every detail of the restoration all the original architectural details were able to be saved and stored and put back in place we're on a wonderful corner lot that measures 94 feet wide by 90 feet deep yes it's a huge lot presence here on the corner saltwater pool that's only about eight years old there is a hot tub at the very back center of the pool but then we have a built-in dining table which is very unusual and this is an exotic marble that they've used on the top here it's quite lovely very cool we've got a beautiful wraparound front porch covered on the first floor and then a beautiful wraparound terrace on the second floor we'll see those when we go inside the condition of this is amazing it just looks perfect we do have a very sophisticated security system you'll see on the exterior in very inconspicuous places we've got security cameras there's certainly a whole house alarm system and it's equipped with all the technology of today where you can pull it up from your phone you could literally look on the camera and see who popped out of the house earlier in the day we're going to go through the leading glass front doors and as soon as we enter the home we are inside a beautiful and elegant entry foyer you're also met with the view of the three stories the staircase and just in the background you'll see this magnificent original stained glass and it's in impeccable condition it's museum quality if you ask me and we've got two round windows one here under the stairs and then one on the front all of the stained glass was able to be salvaged and repaired where necessary most of it is original to the house and it's in impeccable condition wow another feature that we have here in the foyer is we have this beautiful placer archway and it is quite ornate you've got these wonderful flowers and fruit relief then all this wonderful detail on the middle of the archway and a wonderful pediment in the middle it's just quietly elegant we have pocket doors between the foyer and the front formal living room so if you wanted to close off the front parlor you certainly could in both the living room and the dining room we have marble mantel fireplaces and the marble mantle fireplaces are original to the building they are in exquisite condition they are almost perfect wow great tall windows too we've got ceiling windows they're quite beautiful the home is light field you get so much light in all the rooms and we've got beautiful pocket doors that separate this formal living room from the formal dining room and when they're pulled out they're just magnificent i love the detail of the doors the dining room is probably one of my favorite rooms because the scale of it is so gracious you've got room for any size configuration that you want to put in here as far as the dining table goes and you've got beautiful windows that draw your eye out onto the ground and you can get a glimpse of the pool and then there's another beautiful marble mantle fireplace here in the dining room it's a subtle detail but it's also a very important detail you've got beautiful cove ceilings and i don't know how well that'll pick up that is very subtle it's hard to see but you can see there that these are slightly covered ceilings that's gorgeous so like any fun new orleans home we've got great formal rooms they're quite elegant and impressive but we've got some wonderful casual rooms for you too just off the foyer we have an informal den or library or study the current family used this originally as an office and it was his study for a number of years and then its later use was as their children's playroom so this is a great room to become a flexible space to be used just about however you'd want to there's another wonderful fireplace here with a beautiful mantel i love the columns and the beading here it's just quiet detail there's a great supply closet in here i always like to think of this as your costco or your sam's overflow closet this is where all those great big bulk items that you need to store that's a great place to tuck all those into and then just beyond this room we have a wonderful library bar and this this bar was built for this property it is exquisite this is one of the prettiest slabs of marble i've ever seen and it is enormously thick yeah that's solid the detail on the bar is just incredible you've got fine craftsmanship in all of this you can see it when you look at all the detail the columns and the corinthian caps at the top and the wonderful raised bar area back here and all the pediments that are around the top of that just quiet elegant details here we have a powder room that also could double as a full bathroom here just off the library bar and the tile work and the selections that were made for this are extraordinary yeah look at those floors wow beautiful calcutta marble on the floor and then you've got a wonderful tote tile and a complimentary tile that was used on the outside of the wall and it's really a clever combination that someone's put together for all of this so this bathroom doubles as your here's the parking too gotta mention that we got two off street parking spots so that's your powder room and a full bath we're back in the center hall of the house and we've got laundry set up down here but there's also a spot that it could go upstairs if someone wanted to have a second laundry upstairs and then just at the end of this hallway we'll take you into the kitchen and the breakfast room you have a beautiful fully updated custom kitchen all thermador high-end appliances they did a custom thermador refrigerator here great storage configurations in here then a big freezer on the bottom lots of storage in here with automatic ice machine all the cabinetry for this kitchen was custom built on site here for this property the current owner reports that he knew exactly what he wanted for the cabinet hardware and it took him an awful long time to find this their wonderful class like what you would see in the 1920s or perhaps in the 1930s so the kitchen really suits this house this is a clever uh this guy didn't even notice that for the dishwasher so we were just talking about the quartzite countertops and how functional and beautiful they are and really almost indestructible you can chop on them you can spill it food on them or wine or drinks and they're almost indestructible we've got a very high-end sophisticated range oven with a griddle in the middle double ovens here on bottom wonderful thermador professional series hood that is vented right outside the building we have a pasta filler here on the on the back wall so when you're having pasta you don't have to lug water from the sink to the stove beautiful butcher block center island this is very practical butcher block is again another great kitchen countertop surface you can chop on this and if there's a stain or something gets damaged it can be sanded out and refinished very easily we have a prep sink here and then we have a wonderful farmhouse sink on the other end of the kitchen just under the window looking out onto this wonderful courtyard with a flagstone patio the previous family used to have a big long table and chairs there which is perfect for outdoor dining all of that situated under this magnificent mature magnolia tree and in the fall and spring i can only imagine how beautiful it might smell when it's full of flowers and blooms we have a pantry here in the kitchen it's been configured as covers so we have this wonderful pantry system here then we have an upper pantry area as well so we do have lots of great storage all the way up to the ceiling so we've got plenty of storage in the kitchen and remember we have that costco sam's closet just on the other side a lot of cabinets in this house a lot of cabinets in this kitchen plenty plenty of cabinets for storage and serving pieces and platters we have a built-in convection oven microwave right here on this end of the kitchen more storage above and it goes up so tall it's almost hard to tell in the video i mean that's so much cabinetry so now we'll take you up to the second floor and we'll see some some of the bedrooms and another family room on the second floor i want to do a little bit of more of a close-up on the same glass at the top of the second floor we have this wonderful private family room which is really a large space we have an enormous sectional sofa here and this is probably a space that allows for the family to spread out privately and have tv at night together and be a little bit more casual and informal we've got built-in bookcases here on the other end of the family room again from floor to ceiling beautiful kind of cherry tomato red color really pretty color this is a great view in this room because it they've opened up the roof and so we have the roof rafters exposed and they've been painted and the staircase just continues up to the third floor on the second floor we have three bedrooms and two and a half baths great height just to our right we have a half bath here as a consideration if someone wanted to have an upstairs laundry center this bathroom could very easily be configured into a laundry center for the second floor we do have a full bath straight across the vestibule here just right ahead we've got two vanity sinks in here then a big tub soaker tub and shower in the back section [Music] yeah nice full size bathroom here i love the tile that is gorgeous yeah all the tile choices and stone countertop choices were well made this is a marble countertop here in this bathroom and then we've got two bedrooms that are on the camp street side of the building here they're currently set up as nurseries but they're very large rooms i'm going to say that they're about 16 and a half 15 and a half somewhere within that range all the closets have been configured custom california closet style so every closet even in the secondary bedrooms they have the custom california closet configuration for storage again another wonderful window looking out onto camp street beautiful millwork on the doors just impeccable condition beautiful beautiful doors bedroom number two again is set up as a nursery both bedrooms are somewhere around 16 and a half by 15 and a half so very comfortable size rooms this bedroom has a nice big walk-in closet with lots of storage again configured with california closet system and that's where they have their sort of internet setup right here that's good very central in the house and then just cross across the vestibule from these two bedrooms is the entryway into the master large oversized master bedroom suite great views of the garden and courtyard and pool area down below they've got a nice little balcony here that is so cute it's like a romeo and juliet style balcony it's exactly what it is it's it's it is the epitome of a juliet balcony you could step out onto that balcony very easily you've got a hearse closet jacob here on this end of the room this was a smart configuration she has her own closet and again it's all been configured with california closet systems and they've gone in here and done the closet from floor to ceiling so when you've got out of season things they can be tucked up at the top and then you've got open shelving on top for maybe hats or suitcases or some kind of boxes maybe you've got a shoe collection or something or purses so you've got really great storage lots of drawers for personal items in this dressing room this is a this is a very nice closet and across the bedroom we're going to go into the master bathroom the master bathroom was carefully put together with solid slab marble this is all calcutta marble so it's a solid slab around the tub and around the shower there are no pieces it's all 100 solid slab that's crazy it is magnificent this is probably one of the most beautiful bathrooms i've ever seen in the city they have a wonderful herringbone tile floor pattern it's again all calcutta marble big oversized shower we've got the shower wand in the back and then a traditional shower head at the top just a comfortable shower to get in and run through the shower every day and they kept the herringbone through there but with smaller pieces that is so cool this is a light fill bathroom if you want to pan the video across the back and around the corner you'll see this bathroom is literally light field it is a great place to start the day and also to end the day with a shower or a bath it perhaps was in its original inception it was probably a big covered porch so it's nice to see it be reinvented as the master bathroom suite and then straight ahead to the right we have his closet it's equally as well done it's been configured with california closet systems here as well and this is a great man's closet he's got lots of storage for suits and sports coats and shirts and slacks and everything in between we have a private water closet here which i think most folks appreciate so you've got a great private spot here we've got an abundance of linen closets and storage here so lots of wonderful storage again all the cabinetry was made custom on site for this home wonderful craftsman who knew what they were doing there's a beautiful vanity station here for a lady that might think to want to sit down and put makeup on and get ready for the day and from this floor we'll take you to the third floor where we'll have two more bedrooms and another full bath another great condition mantel right here too it's beautiful [Music] here's this balcony too we kind of glossed over this but a tremendous balcony it's huge this whole this whole terrace is covered in copper [Music] and there you look over the pool this is a great vantage point we'll have another spot upstairs but you can see the entire roof is a slate tile roof the owners wanted to go back and put an authentic garden district roof on this home and we have a slate roof on this entire property that's been reworked and it should go for another 100 years wow look at that mill work too small details everywhere in this house every time i walk through i find something else so now at the top of the third floor we're met with a landing and this landing can really be configured a lot of different ways it could be a great little kid's play room it could be a great little homework area or a study area for maybe an older child we have two good-sized bedrooms with a bath full bath in between this is a wonderful view you've got this beautiful window configuration here looking out onto camp street just beautiful views there's a full bath that connects between the two bedrooms great vanity in here too wow and then this is a full dial beautiful towel work again yeah love the floor pattern we have another full bedroom here on this end of the third floor and each floor has its own heating and cooling system so we have three climate control pd cooling systems one per floor they're all carrier brand systems of the highest efficiency with all the bells and whistles those beams are so cool so we're back out on the front porch of the house we've got this great covered front porch on the first floor perfect place to end the day with a glass of wine and on the rocking chair or on the porch swing we're tucked behind this wonderful hedge of japanese hue which gives us a sense of privacy from the rest of the neighborhood we're also situated under these two majestic mature oak trees they're believed to be in excess of 200 years old and they're in excellent shape money cannot buy those this property is fully contained we're behind this wonderful privacy wall and fence area so for those that have young children or maybe small pets this is a place that you can let everyone run free and feel perfectly at ease and at home there's a great back porch off the kitchen perfect little spot for a little bistro table and chairs and then just behind the house we have a walkway i wasn't smart enough to bring my keys with me but we have a gate that takes us out to the driveway parking configuration and this probably becomes the entryway for the homeowners every day as you would park in the driveway and enter behind this gate this is a great walkway you're secure once you come through the gate and you've got this beautiful the grounds and the walkway to come in and out of the house on a daily basis we've got the security cameras again so we know we're looked after in that regard and then we're just around the corner from the kitchen door beautiful it's truly a fine property that has been well restored and is
