but the other car i've decided to sell is the bentley turbo r you're gonna sell it yes yes thank you welcome movies garage the dumbest automotive channel in all of youtube and if you're looking for some more lambo content today well unfortunately that's not happening some of the cars are getting fixed and i need to pay for that so that's why i am selling this car and another card that we are going to go see today but it's an easy decision to sell these cars because they are absolutely terrible and if you're shopping for a nice used car you definitely should not buy this one i'm selling it but don't buy it please don't buy it now for those of you not familiar this is a 2005 mercedes cl65 amg it has 135 000 miles on it and i bought it for car trick i had it wrapped in red to make it a little more race car to make it a little more super car but the premise of the car trek was to buy depreciated exotics and this was definitely the most appreciated car it cost a hundred and eighty thousand dollars new and i bought it for thirteen thousand dollars but it cost me a thousand dollars to ship it from california to kansas and then i spent about a thousand dollars doing the minimum of repairs just to make sure that it could actually survive the car trek there were more issues with it that i had to fix which i'll get into in a little bit but it did really really well on the challenge and for what seven percent of its original msrp it seems like an incredible deal and it's going to be selling no reserve on cars and bids it's probably going to sell for well way less than what i have into it i i hope so because you absolutely should not buy this but i found it using auto tempest which is the best way to search for a used car like this especially an obscure one because it combines all the major listing sites in one search and this was a really hard car to find because they only made a few hundred of them but i knew it was very expensive i knew it was the perfect car for car trek hub but it is not the perfect car to own auto tempest is a great site to find a used car that's uh actually worth buying not not this and now out of tim's is actually going to show the listings on cars and bids on their website so it is a really really handy tool but not to buy a car like this if you're looking at this on cars and bids well you shouldn't buy unless you're one of two people number one you're a youtuber that's looking for some card trick sloppy seconds and don't mind a big project or number two you want to pretend that you are an amg technician from mercedes back in 2006 and you want to redo the work of whatever man hand built this engine uh 15 years ago and uh messed up on one little seal that's uh pretty much totaled this car but i'll get into that right now right now why it's totaled now it is very easy to fool yourself into buying one of these because it is such a beautiful car it's a perilous coupe the windows rolled down the silhouette is just absolutely gorgeous and the value of these things are unreal 180 000 new and you can find these things in the teens when you can find it but it is a very rare car there's plenty of cl55s out there cl500s of the amg package there's not many cl65s with the bi-turbo v12 engine and the cl65 also got special wheels they're actually two-tone you can see this is polished it's faded a little bit and then this is a darker silver painted inside of there looks beautiful with the pewter paint and when i peeled off that wrap unfortunately it took some of the clear coat with it on the nose it had been painted once before so had the nose completely repainted it looks great that cost every bit of a thousand dollars that i shouldn't have spent on this car in addition to i spent uh well another five thousand dollars sorting this car out things like a blower motor valve cover gaskets motor mounts and a lot of other little odds and ends like when i was driving this thing in car trek and we were at the track day all of a sudden the gas pedal didn't do anything but then for the rest of the car track i never had a single problem until i got it back and the accelerator pedal was actually the problem it wasn't getting the right signal so when you would floor it it would just freak out and not accelerate at all so the accelerator pedal was replaced and like i said a lot of other little odds and ends but look the interiors on mercedes they just age so well this thing looks absolutely gorgeous uh but it is an absolute absolute nightmare we'll continue all the way around the car look at that tail light just absolutely gorgeous and i know you're probably thinking oh come on tyler this thing can't be that bad but uh it has some serious issues that i've decided not to fix after spending five thousand dollars to own this car for less than six months and that's not from buying a neglected car this car actually came with a love letter from the previous owner talking about how much he loved the car i looked him up i googled his address from his invoices and he lived in a multi-million dollar house and the car came with a stack of service records this thick he did everything this car needed but it doesn't matter they just keep braking now the first big issue with this car is the abc system after doing all this work with the car wizard uh the abc system threw an error and the wizard checked the codes and it said it has low fluid he topped off the fluid and that error went away but obviously there's a reason why it has low fluid and that's because one of the abc lines is sweating so uh needs to replace that abc line probably flush the whole system but then it broke even more not that i ran it low on fluid to where it should affect it but at the same time the abc pump has started to go out and it's making a terrible terrible noise which you'll notice when i take this thing for a drive that's not the end of the world the abc pump is two thousand dollars though but you're probably looking at three thousand dollars or so in abc repairs or for the same money you could just go and completely replace it with a strut master system convert it all to a normal suspension system which is really popular so that's not the end of the world that's not what totaled this car even though i've spent five thousand dollars on it already so you got five thousand plus three thousand the car's worth let's say fifteen thousand dollars is perfect uh that's not what totaled it we're halfway there but this is what totaled it let me show you the engine so if you all saw a car trick sponsored by auto tempest on tavares channel you saw the mechanical inspection and knew this thing had some serious oil leaks it looked like all from the valve cover gasket the whole engine was just super duper oily i had the wizard replace the valve cover gaskets and there was still a leak and that leak suddenly got way worse way worse enough to where this thing leaves a pretty good drip when it's running and well in the garage a puddle you know about a gay big or so overnight we looked into it and unfortunately it's coming from an oil cooler line which wouldn't be a big deal on just about any other car but on the cl65 amg well just uh take a look at how packed everything is in here so to get to this oil clear line which is somewhere down there you have to remove a bracket in order to remove that bracket you have to remove the timing chain cover which sounds crazy all the front end stuff has to come off yes but it gets worse on the cl65 in order to remove the timing chain cover you have to remove the heads and that requires removing the engine so a little 50 cent seal that's held on by a bracket was put on before the rest of the engine and the whole engine has to be removed and completely torn apart to get to this little seal on oil cooler line which is just so ridiculously stupid this is not something that mercedes is known for i thought these were the good engines and 600 horsepower twin turbo but they're just absolute garbage like most modern german engineered cars are really most modern cars they're just engineered to fail and they're they're not built to last anymore so that's 50 hours of labor to remove this engine terrace completely down to get to this little itty-bitty hose and in my world why i don't do the work myself that just makes zero sense on a car that's not worth very much that i'm not going to keep so the only reason somebody would want to buy this is if they want to be this dude g g shcook or whatever and just check over his work from 15 years ago completely tear this engine down probably convert the suspension so you never have to deal with it again and then you might have a car that that somewhat works well but cost wise 50 hours of labor replacing every seal head gaskets everything six thousand dollars seven thousand dollars at an independent shop maybe more probably double that if you take it to a mercedes dealer on either coast which is just it's more than the car is worth so this is a mechanically totaled car and i am getting out of it while i still can while i haven't spent an absolute fortune on i'm still going to lose a ton of money because i'm selling at no reserve on cars and bids but it's better than me plunking all this money into it and then just not having a rewarding experience which is the experience i've had with the other car that we're going to go see today that i am selling it just got finished for the fifth time which really it's never ever finished but it's it's as close as it's ever been in this car's entire existence with me so let's hop this car and and drip our way up to the car wizards so we're off the cl65 and as you can see there are no warning lights at all everything's fine it drives just fine and smooth the suspension feels wonderful you have no idea that this thing is mechanically totaled this car that i'm driving right now which is why so many people get trapped in these things a dealer buys them at auction they don't know the history they sell it for a quick profit and you demonize the dealers that do this but they don't know they buy a car at auction and they sell it for a couple grand profit they they don't know how bad it is most the time they may know some things uh but i imagine even if you were test driving this and didn't know anything about mercedes you would know something was wrong if you heard this well it's a little quieter that there it is that high-pitched wine apparently is my abc pump my suspension pump that is uh on its way out unfortunately i guess if i was trying to use cardiology cardiologists say oh that's the turbo sounds great doesn't it that is it's not but that's not the major issue it's the steady little drip drip drip of oil now i've never had a top off the engine it doesn't leave that big of puddles it's not something that can stop you from driving this car cross-country right now but but it's there i suppose you could fix or convert the suspension and then just put a drip train on this thing and have it like this for years especially if it's not a daily driver it's a spare car it is a really really cool car but still an absolute hooptie 180 000 is new now next to worthless and it's mechanically totaled just just absolutely unbelievable i guess a couple of pluses though for those that aren't listening to my advice are actually considering purchasing this thing there are some nice things about this car first one's the seats they are super comfortable and right now they are pulse massaging me that's all working perfectly the car does drive really well and the previous owner bought a lifetime subscription to sirius satellite radio and apparently that stays with the car it's been working this entire time uh it should continue working for you that saves you 10 20 a month right there and go right towards maintenance on this thing which is around a thousand dollars a month and of course the other big plus is the gobs and gobs of power out of this thing jeez just just ridiculous it feels like an electric car in its acceleration just that instant torque instant thrust it's just insanely fast for a car this size really impressive and the quality of the car is is good just as what you can see you can see it has a leather stitch dash i think that's exclusive to the cl65 so it does look like a way more expensive car than than what it is and it is a very very nice place to be in between mechanic shops wizard what's going on oh i forgot the bubbles here yeah that's my chroma bubble well i'm coming to borrow a car for a little bit that i'm going to sell here shortly you know i'm selling the cl65 yeah it is more trouble than it's worth and you're so buried my other cars we're not going to fix that but the other car decided to sell is the bentley turbo r you're going to sell it yes yes thank you but i need to do a video on it so i need to borrow the key oh sure i'll get you okay yeah i'll be happy to do this for you he's quite happy look at him just bringing us down please all right squeeze yes all right well thank you wizard yes all right all right let's go talk about this bentley well that's certainly a unique reaction there but totally understandable because this 1990 bentley turbo r has been a pain and wizards rear well for the last year spent more time up here than it has in my garage at home because it's just constantly breaking and the repairs weren't easy so let's take this thing for a ride and i'll uh i'll review all of the issues i've had right it starts warning lights go away come on waiting waiting brake pressure built off all right so this was a dream car for me right here i have always wanted one of these so when the opportunity popped up to trade for this car i traded away a 2007 mercedes e63 wagon with over 200 000 miles on it that had mechanically totaled itself a couple of times over and took a couple pounds of flesh from me i thought getting out of that car into this would be a brilliant idea turned out to be an awful awful idea when i got it it had numerous mineral oil leaks leaking from the pumps themselves on the engine that are controlled by a push rod it was also leaking from the whole distribution valve system that uh sends this hydraulic oil to the suspension it also controls the brakes uh that wasn't leaking yet that had all that fixed and there are still other issues to take care of like a misfire and that was the big issue this little misfire that it showed up with a little teeny tiny misfire uh was so difficult to pinpoint because this car had so many small issues that could have caused that the ignition needed to be gone through it had old spark plugs that didn't fix it the car had numerous vacuum leaks because it's old but that didn't fix it finally as the fuel systems turned uh old gummed up injectors were replaced and that didn't fix it so finally the fuel distributor itself that was sent off to get rebuilt and that finally fixed the misfire miraculously finally so then six months later i finally get to drive this car home i try and daily drive it for a week as my winter bentley and it breaks down on me almost immediately the alternator went out on it in addition to some weird alarm battery under the dash and an oil leak that this thing had that i had never fixed because it was a small leak got way way worse and that was from the front uh crank seal which isn't a big deal on a lot of cars but in this bentley it was a big deal required moving the entire timing chain cover which didn't require removing the heads at least like the cl65 amg to get to that oil cooler line but still a big job another 1200 spin on this thing so a year of ownership i maybe had this car in my garage for two months of it and it broke down on me twice so it was a really really stupid decision to keep going and going on this car when it arrived and when i took the first look at it i should have punted it right then and there but i didn't i persisted and i've lost my rear on this car for sure despite this car being over two hundred thousand dollars new it's not worth hardly anything now this isn't a very desirable year for the trevor r and the car is not in the best conditions 70 000 miles the one thing that hasn't been dealt with on this car yet and i know because it has a stack of service records just like the cl65 this is owned by people who tried to keep this thing going uh is the head gaskets at any moment the head gaskets could fail on this engine a very common failure and you're out another five plus thousand dollars tearing the engine apart so the next owner has that hanging over their head despite me and numerous previous owners spending a bunch of money trying to maintain this thing and it's just it's just not worth it i'm selling this car you shouldn't buy it you shouldn't buy it but don't but even with me saying that it is hard to resist this car because it does offer this old-school luxury experience that is so nice and the engine is wonderful when it's working a 6.75 liter v8 with a big turbo so it has a ton of power way way more power than most cars had in the late 80s early 90s really impressive so looks and feels like a classic car but it also has all the modern conveniences so it really is the best of both worlds in that sense with the quality of here the real wood in the interior the rich leather the smell in this thing is is wonderful that's why you just fall for these cars and spend way way too much money but let me be just totally honest here the positive does not outweigh the negative on this car if you're shopping for a bentley of this area go with a newer one with the modern ignition system the most modern one nicest one you can afford because if you buy someone that's kind of edgy like this then you're quickly upside down in it like i am this car showed up with a really kind of nasty you know subpar paint job it's not quality it's like a mid-level like average mako paint job they did a good job masking things off there's all over spray everywhere but the paint job itself is not very good but this is a lifetime west coast california car so it is very clean underneath body wise no rust which is another important thing because these things love to rest underneath uh but it's just not a super super clean car you can see the woods all flaking here the interior normal wear but but pretty pretty darn nice i just love this grill and the flying bee and you can see the the checking in the paint there it's way more obvious you can see that on film probably pretty easily but under the hood it's it's it's a big giant mess this is the thing we rebuilt that fuel distributor a lot of leaks taken care of there's the giant garrett turbo but honestly keeping this car makes no sense because i did buy the modern equivalent to this in a convertible the the azure drop top so it makes no sense for me to keep this with the basically the padded seats for a hood insulation so i am gonna sell this thing and you definitely definitely shouldn't buy it unless you're absolutely crazy an automotive masochist or you just love working on old bentleys otherwise otherwise it makes no sense so this has been the dumbest worst car commercial ever normally when you're selling a car you want to talk it up how amazing it is so the next owner gives you the most money and i i definitely haven't done that uh but still i want to be honest with you guys and definitely if if you're crazy or stupid or want to work on your own stuff check out the cl65 be selling no reserve on cars and bids here in the next week or two and then hot on its heels will probably be this bentley turbo r hopefully i get enough money to pay for the lambo repairs and some taxes and and i'll be happy to have them both out of my life for sure thank you for watching you
