why did Connors make such a big deal about grip positions because subtle grip differences can completely change the biomechanics in the drag position your fingers are mostly straight which places high demand on the finger flexors but minimal strain on the pulley so it's regarded as a safer grip position and is quite efficient when your body is below your hands however when you need to reach to a higher hole the drag can limit you as the extension of your wrist creates weaker biomechanics rocking up into the half crimp Position will alleviate some of this allowing for stronger engagement through the arm and wrist this grip Position will put a lot more force on the finger pulleys but this also adds to its strength for this reason the half crimp is usually considered the most important and versatile of the grip types though poly injuries can occur finally you can increase your fingertip Force even more by rocking up into the full cram strengthen the wrist by mechanics once again and creating more Bend at the PIP and some hyper extension at the dip though it can be quite useful on small holds it also increases stress on the joints and pulleys which is why the full crimp is an important but more injury-prone position so use it wisely and that's today's beta
