at 5:20 p.m. Eastern Standard Time in the year of Our Lord 2023 I want to talk about the new Hunger Games movie The Ballad of songbirds and snakes all rise there a Fluff on me so in between the time it took me to record the last video and now I was struck down with an influenza so intense it triggered asthma in my body for the the first time since I was like 12 and then I got a sinus infection like I was it was the first time I looked up I was sick and I was like I'm going to die I think that's what's going to happen so what I did is I cracked into the novel The Ballad of song birds and snakes this is a Hunger Games prequel if you don't know what the Hunger Games is I don't know if this is the video for you girl I do not know basically it is a prequel to the Hunger Games in which the main character is the fascist president dictator from the original series and this book and movie answers the question what if the fascist dictator was a hot teenage boy do I have your attention now are you clocked in yeah so I read that book when I was sick also in preparation to see the movie this concept did not appeal to me at all because I thought it was going to be kind of a kylo ren like Draco Maloy he's hot and tortured and like I get it I just don't like care like it's just that that plot point is so not for me I do not have empathy in the way I don't think I can fix him there's a lot of women my age who are like I'm going to write letters to Ted Bundy because I can fix him I know I can I can make it worse that's about all I can do so I wasn't interested but then I saw the trailer for The Hunger Games movie and I was like oh this looks fuing awesome it's got Rachel Ziggler who is my girl by the way that's my mothering Queen right there I love her people give her hate cuz they're like she's annoying and I'm like she should be more annoying that is her right as a person on God's Greening Earth on the eighth day God created the ability for women to be annoying and that's allowed also like the worst thing of a woman can be is annoying the wor the worst thing a man can be is a a killer so I love her there's also like a scene in the trailer where her boyfriend whose name is Josh he's playing a main character in this and he's just like screaming in this like tele this like television like control room and it looks sick so I read the book and I saw the movie and I'm going to give you a breakdown today of the entire plot and comment on it if you do not want to watch it or you just want to have a little fun so big spoilers for The Hunger Games ballot of song birds and the snakes movie and book there's just going to be as a human being I love spoilers so much that it's impossible for me to make spoiler-free content when I'm watching a video and somebody actively says don't worry I'm doing it spoiler-free I'm like oh I'm about to be bored give me the gossip I want to know the information and also the microphone stays I'm sorry my apartment is Hunger Games is soon to exist we have the capital which is like richy Rich very like maximalist rich and then we have all the districts which are very poor so they don't want to be in like a totalitarian state where they are forced into poverty fair enough so they've created a war okay go War yes go War I'm feeling crazy so we open up on President Snow and his cousin Tigress played by Hunter schaer gorgeous just a beautiful woman they are still children at this point and the the war has broken up it's very World War II Vibes they're like running in the snow and like hiding behind statues and stuff and they're looking for food because they're very hungry on account of the war okay when they're hiding behind a statue they see a man who is the father of a classmate of theirs walk up to a dead body and chop the leg off to eat it and cannibalize it it's the Hunger Games you know everyone's hungry because of war and oppression we get that it's it's supposed to be like a very horrific like he becomes a monster and look at the echo chamber the pressure cooker that made him a monster I get it it's well done I enjoyed this book a lot I also enjoyed the movie a lot I think because the main character is like [ __ ] in the head it's interesting like it's not just like a a run-of-the-mill like romance it's like oh here's a menace to society pleasure to meet you but imagine imagine you have to go to high school and just kind of be around your classmate and be like hey girl how was summer AK knowing her father had to cannibalize it's a lot so because of this war the districts tried to rise up the Capital One this is what's created The Hunger Games this series takes place with the 10th annual Hunger Games a thing that I think is really interesting and fun about this movie The Hunger Games are like junky like they are not cute they're not interesting they're not high-tech they're trash which I think is really cool and the big issue that the head game maker has right now it's like no one's watching the child death match on TV ratings are down what are we going to do so instead of having like an interesting Arena it's literally like a small Coliseum where I would imagine like the US Open kind of takes place there's nowhere to hide it's just like an open little room and nobody trains for The Hunger Games and they don't feed the tributes and they don't like they don't get any help so like people die of disease and hunger there's no sponsor so nobody sends them food and water in the arena and they all just like die of hunger or kill each other but they're not like trained Killers so it's just like kids killing kids so it's very like effective and and fed up really cool but it's the 10th annual Hunger Games okay so we're opening up it's senior year first day Senior Year dear diary and Cornelius snow no I'm going to this up so I'm just going to call him snow the whole time his name is Cory elanus when I read it my brain goes it's Cornelius that's Cornelius and it's not it's Cory elanus we're just going to call him snow because I'm going to call him Cornelius 900 times if not snow is first day of senior year for him and it's the reaping ceremony because views are down on our blessed Hunger Games and nobody wants to watch the kids kill each other on TV can't imagine why to get the capital involved they have made it so that the 24 top students at the Capital High School now get to Mentor the tributes that are going to be murdered in The Hunger Games so he's selected as a tribute because he's a gifted kid he's gifted brag the problem is the Snows although they used to be very rich and very wealthy and they live in the penthouse of this fancy Capital apartment building they've lost all their money in the war so they might be evicted from their apartment their grandmother who they call Grandma love it every day she gets up and she sings the panm national anthem and has lost her Marbles and he doesn't have enough like they can't even eat like he has to eat at school Tigress is a fashion girly fashion girly cousin and she makeshift DIY Queen like Bethany Moda makes him a new dress shirt for the reaping and the buttons are like tiles from the bathroom very very cool so they are quite rich and this is what's important like yes poverty yes he's he's yes he's he it's not great but he's Twisted even now and kind of like a narcissist right and every once in a while it'll be very much much like I am poor and the people in the districts are animals and you're like I do not sympathize with you which is interesting and fun but it's very much like the Loft that Dan lives in in Gossip Girl where they're like he's so poor he lives in Brooklyn in a massive three-bedroom Loft and you're like you live in the penthouse babe so he heads to school for the reaping the reason he wants to win The Hunger Games beyond the fact that he's got a twst Ed mind is because he does not have enough money to go to university but there's a thing called the plinth prize the plins are a family from District 2 who live in the capital now because they're War profiteers weapons Distributors and War profiteers their sons sanis is in Snow's grade and they're kind of friends and to kind of like support The Hunger Games and prove that they're not District that their Capital they've created a scholarship for the best Mentor so if you mentor your child the best presumably you make sure your child wins the death match you get a university Free Ride yes so that's why he wants to win there's a couple of important characters that I want to hit that are at school cuz snow arrives at school and you meet a couple of important characters who are also mentors in The Hunger Games as we've talked about before there's sjis plinth played by Josh Andre Riveras I want to say that's off the top of my head he's fantastic in the movie he makes skin crawl in the way of like this character he's incredibly wealthy and has a lot of guilt around it and makes a lot of bad decisions and it's like it's so cringe to watch in the best way so his family are war profiteers from District 12 and he just has a lot of guilt he's the only [ __ ] person in this entire movie with a conscience he's the only person in the capital who's like hey guys um I don't know if these child death match games are ethical so we like him a lot him and snow are kind of friends nobody really says why but they are snow finds him annoying because snow wants to be rich and have no conscience um but they're friends we also have clemencia she's kind of like a type a girl and she's Snow's friend we have Arachne crane in the first Hunger Games book and movie if you recall correctly sen crane the guy with the beard the pointy big beard I'm assuming that they're related she's very much like Capitol Blair Waldorf very spoiled kind of like snarky rich girl stuff's gonna happen to her don't worry about that another fun fact that they say in the book is that her only two talents are being loud and holding a spoon to her nose which is me we love that she's iconic to me and then we have Felix Raven still in the book he is the grand nephew of the president in the movie they make him the son of the president just to kind of up the stakes a little bit of a rewrite there and he's also a mentor and kind of a capital rich kid these Capital kids are are they're similar and that's it's okay okay now we get to talk about my favorite oh the thing that makes this movie so much fun is we get to meet these kind of two adult SL antagonists for this kind of story so first we have Dean High bottom played by Peter Dinklage acting his fing ass off okay so Dean High bottom is the creator of The Hunger Games and he's addicted to morphling which is Hunger Games Universe morphine it's like the drug PE it's kind of it's opioids coded and he just like walks in and he's like he's upset about The Hunger Games obviously abusing drugs on account of his guilt for creating the child death match fair enough you know I think that's an appropriate reaction and he basically is like you all have to Mentor these kids to make it worth watching and they basically say for the plinth prize it's the best Mentor who gets it and somebody's like um wouldn't that just be whoever's uh tribute survives and he goes your job is to turn these children into spectacles not survivors absolutely his whole thing is he hates snow and he's right like in the book it's very much presented like can you believe he hates me for no reason and you're like you become a dictator so I'm going to take his side at one point after the reaping he goes look at you and your makeshift shirt and your twoo tight shoes so he hates snow and he knows that the Snows are poor and he knows that snow needs this prize to go to university an also fun Wrinkle in his story that he used to be best friends with Snow's dad and Snow's like what the happened there by the way President Snow is a orphan because his mother died in childbirth and his father died in war and if you really think about it war is childbirth for men and that's all I'm going to say on that we also have Viola Davis who is clocking in to be the most unhinged character in this entire series she's having so much fun she plays Dr volumina Gul the best name in the world she's this like really big curly hair and she has a single blue eye like she has a blue contact and this woman is just unhinged it's so fun to watch she's the head game maker and Game Maker game maker and she uh works in the war department the department of war and she speaks in Little Riddles and she's unwell it's awesome at one point she like literally kills a child in her lap and then goes it's time for my milk and crackers awesome awesome so much fun okay let me read some of this plot for you so they do the reaping at school and they're watching The Reaping on TV to figure out which like kids they get and it's really fed up the kids that get drawn as tributes for The Hunger Games Span in between like ages it's like 11 to 17 so if you're 11 yikes you know it's not good so like somebody will get like an 11-year-old and then their Mentor in the capital will be like G she's so small she's never going to win and you're like that's a person actually very cool little I I really liked that wrinkle so snow gets District 12 girl and the District 12 girl is Lucy Gray beard Rachel Ziggler In the Flesh The Queen Is Here bowed down she is a singer and she also says constantly that she's not actually from District 12 she's cvy and cvy was a group of nomadic people who were rounded up after the war and forced to live in district 12 now if you think you're having a bad day Lucy Gray's boyfriend Billy taupe cheated on her with the mayor's daughter and the mayor's daughter was so jealous and worried that Billy taupe would return would would go back to Lucy gray she told her father to pick Lucy Gray's name out at the reaping and sent her to the death match for kids imagine your boyfriend cheats on you and his new girl sends you to the child match of death that sucks so Lucy Gray's pissed about this she's walking up and when she walks past the mayor's daughter she puts a snake down her dress and freaks out gets up on the stage and the mayor like punches her in the face slaps her hard or punches her it's bad and she's on the ground and then one of her the members of the cvy starts singing in the like to I just to be like you should sing and then Lucy gray gets up and she sings this song um that's like nothing you can take is ever worth keeping and it's a Bop and everybody in the crowd of the Ring's like yeah woo GNA miss her sucks this is a Bop though two notes on this besides the fact that it's very Glee coated when they're showing the other tributes they spend approximately 5 seconds on each of them like on the capital TV like when they're they're showing the reaping on the TVs at the capital and they're like from number four Coral anyways and they move on they give Lucy gray 15 minutes of air time for her [ __ ] song awesome I also love that she's a clothes and makeup girl I think it's it's a really cool like show of range on Suzanne Collins's part who writes The Hunger Games books because Katniss everine is very like not like other girls coded it's not obnoxious she's just a tomboy who's traumatized and trying to keep her family alive but she's very much not masculine and not into clothes Lucy gray is very into clothes and loves to wear makeup and is also a singer and I just think that that's it's cool that she can also be resilient in a book like this I just love that another thing worth noting is that sanis who is also a mentor uh got the boy from District 2 Marcus and they used to be classmates that sucks that's rough snow knows that he has Lucy gray as his tribute and he goes to meet the tributes when the train carrying them from the districts arrives in the capital unlike the later Hunger Games they're just kept in cattle cars not fed and it's rough they kind of throw them out of these cattle cars on this train Jessup Who is the boy from District 12 and Lucy Gray's friend got bit by a bat what the so he wants to win Lucy Gay's trust because Tigers his sister's like if you want her to trust you and sing and like win the hearts of the capital you need to get her trust love it also you could just like be nice to her cuz she's going into a death match but that's too much to ask so he rides in the van from the train with the tributes to be like I'm just like you guys I care about this the tributes fully try and murder him in the van which is like fair I'm not condoning murder but like given the circumstances I get it I get it I'm not going to do it but I get it and then Lucy Gray's like stop he's my mentor also if you kill him they're going to kill your families fair I'm back I had to get a little snack and drink some water so if you have not gotten a little snack and drank some water today do it or I'll kill you I'll do it [ __ ] he's in this little carrier okay with all the tributes and they get dropped into the monkey cage at the Capitol Zoo that's rough and the reason is remember it's all it's all back to ratings it's all going back to ratings or the show's going to get canceled the hunger game's going to get canceled and the idea is if they're in this outdoor cage then the capital citizens can come and like see them isn't that a Vibe he's now in the cage with the tributes and he's like having an anxiety attack and like you do want to be like pull it together but like Fair it's a lot has happened right and like huhuh and then Lucy gray comes up and is like own it let's just own it and then they hold hands and they walk up to kids who are outside of the cage with with the other with they're they're not trapped in the cage they just like Charisma like Mis Congeniality win them over by being kind and that's the whole idea it's like Snow's like I'm just going to make her so popular in the capital everyone's going to get mad if she dies and then I get to go to university right now we are given a gift in this scene and that is Jason schwarzman as lucky flickerman he is a local weatherman and amateur magician name a sexier combo than local weatherman an amateur magician you can't and he is right now reporting on The Hunger Games but then he later becomes the first host of The Hunger Games surely he's like if you remember there's like Caesar flickerman from the original series surely they're related in some way but this is the performance again of a lifetime every single like adult actor who they have let play a character in this is like I'm going to show up and I'm going to have the most fun so then they go to like War evil Mentor class as you do and Dr Gaul is there and she's like what is The Hunger Games for it's not to punish the districts it's to remind everyone that we're animals just crepo stuff Viola Davis going I have my oscar now I'm going to do this now I'm a woman with a single blue eye okay and while they're talking about ways to increase viewership for The Hunger Games snow goes we should let viewers buy gifts food water weapons etc for the tributes and we should also let them bet on who wins and we should do an interview Series so that everyone gets to know the tribute so he's like inventing the Hunger Games 2.0 he's literally an influencer he's got like obviously yes child death match bad unethical he's pring his ass off right now is he an opportunist absolutely he wants there to be sponsors because he needs to get Lucy gray food and water so she can hide and because she's popular and she can sing a song and everyone's gonna love her but whatever so Dr gul's like interesting okay write me a paper all about these ideas write me a report and deliver it to me tomorrow and clemencia says actually we're partners we do all our school work together we do all of it so we should write it together okay that's going to come back later remember that sois in the trenches nothing what can you say about that if you have to Mentor your classmate for the child death games like I wouldn't my mental health would not be at a 10 out of 10 so I cannot blame him snow and him are talking at school breakfast and he's like this is awful and he's like my dad bought me the role of a mentor for district 2 to be like we're never going back there because you assisted in the death of uh one of the people from District 2 rough dark stuff and snows like well why don't we just focus on feeding them they're not feeding the tributes and if they die from Hunger beforehand like what the are we do like you need to get to the arena you need to feed them it makes sense cuz I feel like when I was watching the original trilogy and reading it I was like why the is it called The Hunger Games but this is The Hunger Games they're not eating there's like somebody who's like there's one of the tributes is like sick sick sick sick we're going to get to the tributes in a second I'll give you a real breakdown so they pack up food from the cafeteria and they bring it to the zoo and they start feeding their tributes Marcus not having it from sanis I'm not going to police Marcus's reaction right now like I would not be my best self I would not be showing up as my most authentic self in that moment cuz the Hunger Games is imminent you know snow and Lucy gray eat they actually share a bit cuz he's hungry on account of living in poty in his Penthouse but still Lucy gray is a better woman than I am because she has compassion in a real for this where she's like the war must have been hard for you and I'd be like I'm going into the death Arena so rally let's rally okay and it's good PR again cuz they're like sharing a meal picnicking at the zoo through the bars of the cage whatever the other mentors slowly start bringing food for their tributes as well and Arachne remember her she starts taunting her tribute Brandy with the food being like oh you can have some of this it's a glass bottle and she's like oh you can have some of this if you do something for the cameras e evil like I don't know how you do that and you're not like oh I'm the villain but it's okay because her tribute grabs the glass bottle from her hands smashes it on the ground and slits her throat with it on live TV that's why I was reading this and I was like this the amount of body Horror in The Hunger Games is lowy insane and then the peacekeepers come and they shoot the tribute dead which is a bummer that sucks she had her reasons like I in the book they don't do this in the movie cuz like how do you do this in the movie when they have arachne's funeral they have bry's dead body just on a crane in in the the funeral Hall it's the next day snow writes the report drops it off at the department of War for Dr Gaul Dr Gaul calls clemencia and snow into her lab to come meet her one thing about Dr Gaul she loves muts she is constantly trying to figure out how we can make every single animal genetically mutated so it can be a weapon she wants to put an AK-47 on the head of a puppy and that's kind of her whole thing right Clemen is like I I didn't write anything for this report our classmate was murdered in front of us Fair that's not an insane reaction and Snow's like oh I wrote it and she's like okay well fill me in on what you wrote so if she asks me questions I know what to say they go in Dr girl's in front of the most massive tank of rainbow snakes you could never imagine basically clemencia takes full credit for the report she's like I wrote it I wrote everything and it was all my idea and then Dr girl goes oh great well my intern actually put the paper in this snake tank yikes but you can just reach in and grab it cuz even though the snakes are poisonous and deadly if they recognize your scent which they should because you wrote the paper you'll be fine so clemencia reaches in and gets bitten by snakes and presumably dies in the book she doesn't she's gone in the movie rest in peace and Dr G's like we'll just say it's the flu and here's the thing not to victim blame and not to speak ill of the Dead don't reach in I be like oh sorry I was lying I'm a liar one thing about me I'm a liar um I'm a liar so it's the day before the Hunger Games and what's going to happen is they're allowing the tributes to tour the arena before the actual event and then that night Ryan Crest is hosting the interviews live on TV it's Emma Chamberlain on the me Gala red carpet that's what's happening snow really wants Lucy to sing a song because it'll get her a lot of sponsorships and she's like I won't sing if I unless I want to also worth noting Rachel zg is doing a big southern accent you get used to it quickly I just want you to picture whenever they're talking a Southern accent is taking place so they go to tour the arena and the rebels who are like the underground system of people who are opposing the government rule have set bombs in the arena which were supposed to go off when the Hunger Games started to be like mercy kill everyone dies I guess it's not a great Rebel move but fine so the bombs go off when the tributes and mentors are in the arena this massacr a bunch of tribute so there's less people in the games a couple run Marcus from District 2 Sis's tribute he runs and they don't catch him Lucy has a chance to run and then snow gets trapped under a flaming beam it's very The Outsiders by Essie Hinton the movie When Johnny Cade gets trapped under a flaming beam um if you haven't seen that that reference is going to make no sense to you but if you have then you're going to know what flaming beam I'm talking about and she doesn't run away and instead helps and saves Snow's life and because she saved her life snow grows like maybe one iota of compassion and he's like wait is this my girlfriend is she kind of cute though cuz she saved my life he goes to the hospital okay and he wakes up the night of the interviews The Hunger Games still on Dr G she's not going to let a little bombing stop her and Lucy gray sings a song called The Ballad of Lucy Gray live on TV Rachel Ziggler ripping beautiful voice so good and it's basically alluding to the fact that that her EXL set her up to go to the arena and snow doesn't metabolize this as oh my God that's so horrible he goes she has another boyfriend who's she talking about which is a lot I here's another thing I want to say about this movie these two leads I think his name's Thomas B is the guy who plays Snow and Rachel zler plays Lucy gr beard great chemistry so like you do believe that they have like a little something text alone just the the book and the text you're like oh it's a victim and a Menace that's what this pairing is so she gets record amount of sponsors because of this beautiful song and now baby it's time for The Hunger Games right before the hunger gam starts snow gives Lucy gray his mother's powder compact full of rat poison just a quick getting in there right and also Felix Raven still the son of the president had has critical injuries and is in the hospital because of the bombing and a couple of the other tributes died this is how things have changed cuz before in the other Hunger Games there was no place to hide but the bombing has opened up in the ground like this network of tunnels and Ducks so there's places to hide so Lucy that girl's got a chance people have died from the bombing and also another tribute died of asthma the night before and they sent the vet not a doctor so they died also when the games open up they have found Marcus who's who was running loose in the capital streets if you recall cuz he escaped during the bombing and they've just kind of tied his bloodied body to a a poll in the arena F again with the body [ __ ] it's so horrific I'm going to walk you through the remaining important tributes because now I'm going to give you a play byplay of The Hunger Games as if I I am literally lucky flickerman so from District 2 we have Marcus who is technically still alive but tied up to a beam he's in a bad spot there's no other way to say it from District Four we have coral and she's a girl like there's no other way to say it like she can really work a trident in a big way she's awesome I know if I'd seen this movie when I was like 13 like the other ones I'd be like Oh I'm gay oh I love women and all that they can do and I would do anything for her she's kind of the head of the career pack there's not careers in this Hunger Games cuz there's not like people who train in the hopes of winning it's just a horrific event but she during like for the games has created like a very strong pack of the most skilled tributes okay from District Seven we have lamina her whole thing up until this point is she's been crying a lot which sure like that's me and we have Treach he's also in the career pack with coral that's kind of his thing District 8 we have bobin who is also in the career pack he has said on his interviews that he can kill people with like a lot of different ways with a knitting needle that's fun from District 10 we have Tanner who is also a career and he worked in slaughterhouses and talked about how he would gut cows vegans such as myself shaking in our boots andan he got a lot of sponsors as well just cuz he talked he was he's a good speaker and he talked very he talked about gutting cows in a way that engaged the audience from District 8 we have wovie she's a young child and you just see her and you're like this is it's like when they have Rue in the first Hunger Games series and you're like this is going to suck like this is just going to hurt not that any of the kids dying is fun but this one's really going to be sad from District 11 we have Dill she's also quite young and she's sick she's had a cough this whole time we have Reaper who's very big very strong he kept trying to kind of strangle her fight his mentor fair enough this actor we're going to get into his big scene later demolish his his scene he demolished it I messaged him on Instagram afterwards being like you killed it because he's so good and then from District 12 we have Lucy gray of course keep an eye on her and Jessup if you recall Jessup is ill from a bat bite that's going to come in later okay so so it starts Lucy gray is looking for Jessup she's running into the middle of this blood bath where everybody's killing each other to find Jessup she finds Jessup he's not doing well he's delusional and he's kind of shuffling around on account of the bat bite and they go into the tunnels and they're safe and they're hiding okay on this first day as well after everybody kind of disappears into the tunnels lamina comes out she's got a little axe she's from like the lumber District she climbs up the beam that Marcus is on and she Mercy kills him she Whispers him in the book it's really cool cuz you don't know what they're saying cuz there's like no mics in the arena but in the movie she's like hey how are you and he's like please kill me she Mercy kills him a very tender it's horrifying but it's like a very tender moment I feel like these games really made a good effort to like show that there these are kids so she kills him everybody who's in like the mentor section watching the games is like Savage she oh she got him first kill come on lamina even though she's like doing him a favor and then she just kind of chills at the top of that beam and sleeps at the end of this kind of like we're getting towards the Night Time Lucky flickerman gets so mad and because he has to cancel his dinner reservations he was like I just Fu I thought that it'd be over by now this thing I'm doing is running a little long it sucks when you have to cancel your dinner reservation because the child murder spring it's taking longer than expected so once sanis in the he's sitting in the mentor section with snow sees that they've tied marcus' body up he has this scene where he marches to the front of all the C of all the screens and he goes you're monsters all of you I slayed that I killed that no no notes on that so he's not doing well and Dr Gul talks to snow that night after the first night of the games and he goes she goes hey bestie bad news sanis has entered the arena with the tributes and he's spreading breadcrumbs on Marcus's body because that's a district 2 tradition yikes you should should probably go get him I'd be so mad snow has to go into the arena with the tributes who want to kill him and like Fair me too if I was in that Arena I'd be so mad and I be like sanis let's go sanis move it and sjis is like well I just want to die here and then Snow's like they're going to kill me they're going to kill your mom let's go so they're running to leave and then the career pack on their tails trying to kill them so they're they're all running and there's a big Running Scene okay you know running and bobin grabs Snow's leg so snow grabs like a rock and just bludgeons bobin to death so second kill in The Hunger Games is at a mentor's hand okay so at the end of day one we've lost Marcus and we've lost bobin day two Jessup is Rabbid the bat that bit him has rabies and I don't know a lot about rabies and that's a blessing like what a privilege to not know a lot about rabies but apparently it makes you afraid of water so he's chasing and trying to kill Lucy gray cuz he's delusion that sucks and while that's happening he's like afraid of water right so then snow goes to jessup's mentor and goes send him a lot of water he's going to die but at least he won't kill Lucy graay send him a lot of water so she sends him a bunch of water and the water explodes everywhere cuz the drones are really shitty and he gets really scared and then he kind of like freaks out and faints and dies very sad the actress who plays his mentor is really great cuz snow goes thanks for that and she goes nothing to be proud of sad Jessup dead Lucy closes his eyes very respectful very sad so after that happens the career pack chases Lucy Lucy gray sorry and she grabs a water bottle and hides in like a little crack so then they go and they're like okay we'll kill lamina then word up hickey they climb up to the top of the beam lamina dies while this is happening Lucy gray poisons this water bottle with the rat poison from the Compact and pours out all of their other water except for this water bottle great except Dill poor little Dill climbs out of a hiding place at this point takes a sip of that water with the rat poisoning dies Lucy gray not happy about this she wanted to kill the murderous career pack not this child but because Dill has been so sick with tuberculosis which is a wild choice for this series everything else has a fake name it's like oh that's not that's not a blue jay that's a jabber Jay you know but they're like tuberculosis real so because um Lucy gray got away after this Coral stabs Tanner so we've lamina dead Jessup dead Tanner dead and Dill dead that's a killing oh inadvertently Reaper from District 11 be he comes out and he sees that Dill has died and this really breaks his brain this is the part the actor who plays Reaper is like meering like he's it's insane he's making his play for an Academy Award nomination and he just like holds Dill's body and screams and then he starts moving all of the dead bodies in the arena and making a makeshift kind of Memorial and morg and lines them all up together takes the weapons out of their hands does this kind of this pose and then he drags the capital flag off the wall and covers their bodies with it like he's not singing Danny Boy but he's like he might he's he's very close to that'd be me in the arena he'd be doing that and I come out and I go Oh Danny Boy the pipes the pipes are calling and then I'd get stabbed through my body with a spear and if I don't go out singing Danny Boy Who theck Am I cuz that's basically unironically my favorite song So Reaper creates this makeshift kind of morg and then he talks to the cameras and he goes how are you going to punish me now cuz he's in the death Arena fair enough this makes Dr Gaul very angry one more thing I I have to itch let me itch okay the careers now it's just coral and Tanner and they want to force Lucy gray out of the vents that she's in so they have one person go around and start you know poking through the vents with a stick with like a spear okay and then she climbs over top of where Tanner and coral are and they're like she's up there we're going to get her and then she sprinkles rat poison into Tanner's throat and he dies that's metal that's that's insane okay end of day one the remaining girl boss tributes we have District Two Coral girl of my dreams District 8 wovie that's going to be rough dist District 12 Reaper singing Danny Boy and District 12 Lucy gray after Reaper kind of creates this makeshift morg and he goes how are you going to punish me now they cut the tapes they cut the cameras and they go like breaking news breaking news Felix Raven still is dead he died from his complications of the Rebel bombing we don't know if he actually died or Gaul killed him because she needed to use him as a martyr because she was upset about what Reaper was doing one one thing to note that they do in the movie that is insane is they go Felix Raven still has died and then they just show a picture of his dead body on the news you can't legally do you can't just show a picture of somebody's dead body on the news so Gaul is like we will not take this lying down our president's son is dead and I will I will punish the rebels tomorrow by taking it out on The Hunger Games tributes and she says something like tomorrow the tributes are going to see a rainbow before they die some kind of riddle like that and snow goes the snakes the rainbow snakes from before so when he was in the arena he got cut and Dr Gaul stitched him up I didn't mention it cuz there's like not a lot to he got stitches great he breaks his stitches ew and goes to G and is like hey my stitches are broken so she has to stitch him back up again while he's there he drops a handkerchief into the snake tank this handkerchief when he was having a picnic with Lucy gray he wiped her face with it cuz she was crying okay so the handkerchief smells like her he's putting her scent into the snake tank so that she the snakes know her so they don't attack her he's Galaxy braining right he's Sherlock mind paling everybody else the other mentors are just like I don't know he's going like this he's doing the Sherlock mind Palace he's going snakes scent fascist why won't girls me like he's my it's a okay we need to be thinking that way way Gaul releases the snakes into the arena it's like there's no way around it it's rough it's not fun they kill wovie immediately it's really sad cuz she's walking out and she's crying and she's like can we go home I want to go home and you're like fing kill me this is so sad it just sucks but at least it's fast they kill Reaper and it's awesome because he's like very defiant and angry until the end I think it's a good end to that character if the character has to die and then Lucy gray and coral they're running away from the snakes Lucy gay Lucy gay think about it conspiracy theory Lucy gray kind of climbs the top of this rock and Coral's climbing after her and the snakes start killing her and it's a really cool end to Coral as well cuz she keep was going it's not fair it's not fair because she's a child like she killed everyone she was the one that was doing theing work it is not fair but that's the Hunger Games for you and then they don't kill Lucy gray cuz they know her scent but she's also singing cuz she's a theater kid you know what I mean like these [ __ ] theater kids you release snakes into the arena and they're going one day more like shut shut up she's singing so when Dr Go's like why aren't the snakes attacking her snow lies and he's like uh they are soothed by her music yeah yeah so Lucy gray wins The Hunger Games and Snow's like yes the plinth prize I'm going to University but Dean High bottom finds the Compact and the handkerchief in the snake cage to tube I don't know and because he cheated snow is now sentenced to 15 years joining the peacekeepers I'm going to be honest with you when I was reading the book and we got to this part I was like oh this is beginning to drag it's like does The Hunger Games reboot prequel need to be 500 pages I don't know so snow is now joining The Hunger Games cops the peacekeepers and he's going to District 12 he's going to find his One True Love Lucy gray the script does nothing to make me believe that these two like each other it's based true TR on the actor's chemistry alone and I love that the book is good like I really enjoyed what Suzanne Collins did with the book it's just like they don't have enough time in the movie to like believably build a romance they were like you people just need to have chemistry and they do so it's okay so snow is in the peacekeepers he's doing his military training whatever who cares he shaves his head it's an important he just has different hair and he applies to become a peacekeeper officer and takes a test okay so he's like doesn't want to be just like a private or whatever he wants to be an officer that's going to come back later so a man in district 12 is accused of killing two peacekeepers and a minor like a person who works in the coal mine not a child and he's set to be hung in the Hanging Tree if you remember are you are you coming to the tree from mocking jay or whatever so he's accused of killing three people snow is there basically to just be like an extra body with a gun so while they hang him and his love his like his girlfriend she run the crow she goes stop he's innocent he's innocent and he's like no don't don't be here I'm going to be killed and then they kill him a really cool narrative device and if I was Susanne Collins and I thought of this [ __ ] I'd be like I am aing genius everyone needs to bow down to me because when someone gets hung in the Hanging Tree there are jabber Jays in the tree jabber Jays are birds that were genetically modified during the war so that they're basically recording devices so if you flip a switch on a remote they will sit silently and basically record a conversation in full and then you can play it back on the remote later they've just been released cuz the war is over so now they just basically parrot whatever they hear over and over again so when someone gets hung in the Hanging Tree their last words get repeated by these birds over and over and over again and it's incredibly haunting that's sick OB it's horrifying but like if you're a writer and you're like I imag that's crazy sanis remember him remember he's back he's shown up and because he snuck into the arena and put breadcrumbs on Marcus's body he's now in the peacekeepers as well and he's there to become a medic and create drama he's there for the drama like he has a conscience he's ethical we love him he the amount of drama that follows him he's the kind of person that's like I hate drama and you're like and yet you're involved in every piece of drama that happens it's just interesting on the weekend all of these Peacekeeper Bros sanis snow and their squad they go to the hob which is like a bar saloon where everyone goes to drink and Lucy gray is playing with the cvy and they're playing absolute bangers Rachel zaggler uh recorded all of these live I found out later just awesome if you're going to listen to The Hunger Games like the ballot of song birds and snakes soundtrack there's a song that's called like nothing you can take it's ever worth keeping boot stomping Edition Bop it's just so much fun so he shows up and he's sitting there and he's like she going to notice me when she going to notice me then she notices me they like reconnect he's walking up to the stage then Billy taupe if you recall he's the one who cheated on Lucy and then the woman he cheated on Lucy with got her sent to the hunger game shows up drunk and he's like Lucy I'm sorry she's not going to take you back what no okay then there's a big kind of like fight that breaks out and it's all it all it's all broken up whatever the next day Lucy gray and snow meet in the field she's writing that song The Hanging Tree that Katniss sings later her and her family they all go to the Lake they hang out vibes what I love about the fact that Lucy gray wrote The Hanging Tree is that means that in mocking jay when snow kills his enemy the 17-year-old girl Katniss and he thinks she's dead and when she reveals that she's alive on National Television not only is she humiliating him by saying she's alive she's singing the song his exgirlfriend wrote Oh badass also when they're at the lake there's like this weird kind of like wink to camera moment where they're like oh this is swamp potatoes also known as catniss just thought I'd mention it they're doing their Peacekeeper [ __ ] whatever and at one point Snow's walking by and he sees sanis outside of the jail talking through the wall to someone he's talking to the girlfriend of the man who was hung they've locked her up and they're going to punish her for being alive it's a totalitarian police state there's nothing to say about that and he's like sanis don't talk to her you're you're going to get me in trouble then they go to the hub again and sois sneaks off cuz he loves the drama and snow follows him sois is in this room with Billy taupe and this other man called Spruce and there's a million guns on the table not a great look and sanis is like they're going north they're going to escape they're going to get the girl from jail I'm going to help then we're all going to go north and start a new life away from penm and Snow's like you are not going to do you're going to get me in trouble don't do that and then the mayor's daughter's also there and Lucy gray comes and she's like what's going on and Billy taupe says Lucy Gay's fine don't worry about her she's going to come with us that makes the mayor's daughter really jealous and she goes I'm going to tell on all of you and all of you are going to go to jail it's a tough situation snow takes the machine gun off the table and shoots her dead maybe it wouldn't be my choice but that's what happens then Billy taupe freaks out and Spruce shoots Billy taupe dead so they're like okay two dead bodies yikes snow turns to Lucy gray and goes Go sing on stage that's your Alibi and then they all just clear out of there now snow is worried cuz he's like my fingerprints are on the murder weapon of the mayor's daughter not a great look and there's a massive Peacekeeper initiative now where they're all just like running through town trying to find who killed the mayor's daughter okay snow finds Lucy Gran's like hey girl hey how's it going and she's like the mayor thinks I killed his daughter because his daughter sent me to the Hunger Games it's a good motive not going to lie so he's like stalking me he's going to frame me for it so I'm leaving I'm leaving tonight let's like are you going to come with me and Snow's like absolutely I'd love let's meet at dawn and he's like by the way I passed the officer exam and get to go to District 2 but I can't because there's a murder weapon out there with my fingerprints on it and if they find that I'm so let's run away together let's run away to the north me and my girlfriend this should be fine right there is a subplot where all of the peacekeepers part of their job is packing up the jabber Jays that hang out in the Hanging Tree so they're pack packing it up and Snow's packing them up next to sanis and he's like you need to stop like you need to stop this plan you're going to get me in trouble like you are a problem why did you do this cuz JIS is like we're still going to go north we're still going to break that girl out of prison and and while they're packing the jabberjays snow like turns the remote on that makes the jabber J like silently sit there and just record the conversation so he's basically recording this conversation where sjis is like me I sanis plinth I am going to break that woman out of jail and am with the rebels and and we are going to escape it's me sanis and snow you better not try and stop me snow records his conversation and puts this specific jabber J in a cage that's like this one needs to go to Professor volumina gal and her single blue eye the next day there's another hanging and they found Spruce who was who shot Billy taupe and they framed him for like the murder of the mayor's daughter as well so he's at the Hanging Tree to be hung and then they bring out sanis because of the jabber J that snow sent to the capital and he's like Coro what what's going on and they hang both of them so snow cor cor cor elanus snow killed his best friend great not doing well there's this scene where he like openly weeps and goes through sis' stuff and it's phenomenal this actor I haven't seen him in a lot of stuff he he's a good leading man he's a phenomenal character actor when he plays Snow's turn to just like pure evil you're like this is amaz it's it's amazing he should play villains like he is great at playing a villain snow wakes up the next morning and goes and meets Lucy gray and they walk to the lake that they were at before it's raining raining raining so they're like okay well there's a shack at the lake we'll take cover there there's this thing where you know how sometimes movies are like I'm going to say the theme they do that where Lucy gray goes I think that there's good and evil in all of us and it's our life's work to make sure that we don't step over that line you know the theme snow is like I hear you I've killed three people and that's enough for me and Lucy Gray's like what I thought you only killed two cuz you killed bobin in the arena and you killed the mayor's daughter who's the third who's the third person you killed and Snow's like oh uh not sanis um I killed my old self to be with you and Lucy gr's like okay and then they go to the shack in the woods and while they're in the shack in the woods they find the guns Spruce has hid the guns that are the murder weapons in the shack so technically they could just destroy the gun and snow could go back and go to Officer school and continue to live his life Lucy gray is like okay I'm going to go get some swamp potatoes also known as catniss so we can have something to eat you stay here I'm going to go get the potatoes and Snow's like I thought that they're not in season and she goes a lot can change and runs to go get the potatoes and snow then realizes later that she's run away from him because she figured out that he killed sanis then he's running after her with the gun and he's trying to shoot her dead in the forest and there's this really cool shot where well first of all he's like shooting at all the birds in the guy cuz he's having a breakdown but there's another cool shot where he's like it it isn't clear whether or not he shot her cuz he shoots at her and then he goes to find the body and she's not there and her Footprints just disappear so it's like did she die did she live what happened it's a really cool ambiguous ending for a teen dystopian movie I thought it was a really cool choice so then Snow's like all right and he destroys the murder weapon he drops the guns in the lake and then he goes back to Peacekeeper school and he goes I'm going to go to Officer school and he gets on the train and he goes to District 2 away we go and then the train conductor is like M we're going right to the the capital what does that mean they take him to the capital and he goes and he talks to to Dr volumina Gall in her single blue eye and she goes thanks for sending me that jabber Jay you did good work just so you know I sent you to the peacekeepers just so you had to do something over the summer now you're coming back here and you're going to work for me under the department of war and that's the end of the movie crazy I really enjoyed this if you want to read the book it's a fun it's like a pretty fun easy read if you want to see the movie I definitely recommend it feels as Harry Styles
