I Tried the $100 Strawberry Buffet in Korea

hey guys it's me Jimmy there is one type of buffet that is insanely popular in Korea do you guys know what it is it's the strawberry Buffet so strawberry Buffet is a seasonal thing in Korea that they only have during winter but in the last a few years several hotels in Korea started this thing where they have different foods that are strawberry themed I don't know how it became a thing follow Instagram they're anywhere from $50 to $100 which is a lot of money in Korea and I came to arguably the most popular JY buffet in Korea and of course I I have a very special guest sanin hello in case you guys don't know she's a convenient store worker that I met about two years ago and since we met we filmed many videos together the strawberry buffet that we're going to is in Peninsula which is in the lobby floor of L hotel in so obviously it's a very nice hotel they only have this buffet for lunch from December to April and it's about $86 that there might be a little too much look at all these beautiful Korean couples lined up to get in well this really must be [Music] popular aesthetic as hell boy as soon as you sit down you can get your strawberry themed welcome drink and we also got a welcome dessert the buffet was extremely hard to get a reservation for because it's so popular that it gets booked out the moment they open up their reservation spots oh they certainly did an amazing job of making everything aesthetic ironically for someone who's filming videos of cool places for a living I don't like the whole social media culture where businesses become popular not based on the quality of the product but because how instagrammable they are that being said this strawberry Buffet really nailed a social media Aesthetics there were just so many Beautiful Things Fancy as hell boy but hold on maybe they do have that quality W she brought a whole Strawberry Farm here I was worried that they might only have strawberry desserts but they also have some other foods that actually look very [Laughter] good welcome welcome that's the welcome drink that we only get once the strawberry okay what about their welcome dessert I don't doubt her taste in food but let me just make sure that it really is good this is like 90% cream of course it melts in my mouth okay immediately what I can tell is that so I've been to a lot of really really nice buffet in Korea and their desserts it's like very good but most of them are like not as good as the best dessert places this is at the level of the best dessert places this is really good I don't like when desserts are like simply too sweet kind of like Walmart desserts this is balanced sweet it's m this is this is a American Dream right here she's going for that malie look at these big fat strawberries they look nice don't they oh I want to start with this hard shaped whatever that is I feel like this might be some kind of a chocolate it's some kind of a very creamy pudding it didn't really taste like strawberry but I can tell you that it was really good let me try thei the Korean favorite I got to say it's kind of wasteful coming here paying like $100 and eating duck poie that you can get for like $2 sanjin is right she knows what she's talking about this is a little too salty their fried rice however looks quite promising I see a lot of shredded crab wow it was a little blend but it was a very clean tasting good fried rice that's really good quality some beef I like their beef too it's super tender man so many desserts I'm going full on princess Jimmy mode today I guess I shouldn't be surprised at this point that their strawberry stuff tastes good there's so much strawberry sunk in the bottom so far very happy with the quality that I'm experiencing but I'm just getting started she's just getting started [Laughter] let's have that strawberry shall we I usually don't really like strawberry that much that was very good strawberry she was like where's the lamb where's the lamb she found it their beef talin steak and lamb ribs look extremely good M Life Style and it really didn't disappoint me that's pretty good steak again not like steakhous steak for a buffet very very good steak they got some lamb here too wow this is legitimately good L do you guys see how I just bit it right off I didn't have to pull on it this is better than the one that I had at um the most expensive Buffet JW Marriott and sunjin agreed with me too m guys she's graduating from college now she's a grown woman now that looks like hellboy's butt crack M oh wow so that was egg tart nicely covered with strawberry I keep going back and forth between desserts and non deserts I was a little skeptical of their food when it comes to these real food they don't have the variety but they definitely have the quality especially impressed with anything that involves meat the meat is very nice and tender the only thing that I'm kind of like what ever with is I guess their ducki cuz you know it's like super affordable outside and this isn't some mastercrafted Arian dugi this is just ducki here for some more strawberries okay let's try this one this one has like a transparent layer and more strawberries underneath I'm not sure what this is called I'd like to call it the corporation cuz you know why it's only transparent on the surface but God knows what's underneath it there's definitely a lot going on it looked really pretty so I wanted to like it but it was really blend so it was hard to like or dislike it I'm not a dessert expert well I'm not an expert at anything but I can tell that all of these are really really good desserts the strawberry theme adds that character to the dessert you only get one one welcome drink but you can still get as much coffee as you want which is really nice because it helps you consume more [Music] desserts strawberry macaron that's some Korean mastercrafted macaron that was really good [Laughter] but I feel like if it's like a girlfriend's birthday it has to be like a full service I give you a gift and the dinner too Sun's future boyfriend if you're watching this pay for everything on her birthday okay today's not even her birthday and I'm still paying for everything [Music] the strawberry thing that was in the fountain it's like a mix of chocolate and strawberry but when they're Blended like this they don't don't taste great together it just felt like a low quality food this is some strawberry CR on am I saying it right cross [Music] S I want the cross on to feel a little more flaky or buttery this one feels a little dense it's still pretty good could have been better baked strawberry on top of a little cracker m [Music] it's just like strawberry cream on top of a cracker nothing special about it tastes especially artificial oh these are cute strawberry spoon so getting a reservation here was like super super difficult like the moment they open their reservation spots like within 1 minute it was like all gone I failed to do it she made it that's why we're here [Music] today ah I'm going to have that cute bear I'm going to cut it in half this kind of reminds me of Harvey Den from bedman you either die hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain oh my God she's too young it is extremely important to get some shots for Instagram for us Koreans cuz you see we're not here for ourselves we're here to prove to other people that we're doing something special they say in California in La everybody cares about their social media but in Korea it's even more than that [Music] Instagram except for like two or three they're like all delicious let's have that Mandarin cake I like the texture it's it's like crispy in the [Music] bottom so okay so overall I think what they have is really really great in terms of the variety maybe it's not a $100 Buffet but their desserts are probably one of the best in Korean buffets and with the addition of the steak and lamb it is kind of worth it that's poetic I came in here ready to dismiss it as a social media hike but it turns out this Buffet is a little pricey but it's really [Music] good so overall I feel like the desserts are very very good it is a bit strawberry heavy if you guys don't like strawberry you guys are not going to like it um surprisingly there steak and lamb and other dishes were really good too even if you're not necessarily here for the strawberry it is still a buffet that is worth trying all of the luxurious buffet in Korea have gotten so expensive that it's not considered to be like outrageously expensive which is kind of crazy
