I SWITCHED TO THE S24 ULTRA! - Samsung S24 Ultra vs iPhone 15 Pro Max (THE HONEST TRUTH!)

[Music] okay so here we go the Samsung Galaxy s24 Ultra versus the iPhone 15 Pro Max two of the best Flagship devices you can buy to date but which one of these two devices is flat out the better phone if you guys follow this channel consistently then you probably already know that I'm a big advocate for Samsung devices I feel like Samsung has just come so far since it touch was days the s24 ultra is one of the most complete devices you can buy and we'll get into why that is in this video on the flip side the iPhone will always have a place in my heart especially when it comes to Tech the iPhone 3GS was the first phone I bought all the way back in 2009 going back to the jailbreak days I would spend hours upon hours just tweaking my iPhone to my liking and throughout the years I have fallen in love or in this case you can say and trapped within the Apple ecosystem I have an iPad a Macbook airpads and of course one of the best fitness trackers I've ever used the Apple watch Ultra so this is going to be as unbiased over a comparison as you can get s24 Ultra versus the iPhone 15 Pro Max don't make a mistake let's [Music] go how's it going everyone my name is RJ and before we dive right into it if you guys enjoy this video do me a huge favor and make sure you do drop a like on this video it may not seem like much but it tremendously helps push my channel out to a large quality the s24 ultra is without a doubt a big phone coming in at 6.8 in this thing feels big in the hands it weighs 232 G so about 11 G heavier than the iPhone 15 Pro Max it's got quote unquote sharp corners but these Corners don't really dig into my hands when using the phone in fact if you look closely there's a bit of a curvature on the ends so no real issues on that front however for the first time ever the display is now fully flat for practicality purposes I love this change it's such a minor change but it makes a big difference when it comes to daily interactions I'll talk about why that is in just a little bit the ergonomics of the ultra does make it a bit difficult to handle at times it is by no means a one-handed phone like say for example I'm on a walk outdoors and I need to pull my phone quickly to do something I have to make sure that both of my hands are free before I do pull out the ultra the iPhone 15 Pro Max is a bit more ergonomically friendly don't get me wrong it's still a massive phone coming in at 6.7 in but I feel like it's a bit easier to handle thanks to the rounder corners and the LI weight and 11 G difference is pretty significant if you ask me especially when it comes to Extended usage and when I have to I can just whip out this phone and start texting away with just one hand so on the comfort and the usability angle I have to give it up to the iPhone 15 Pro Max now of course design is subjective but I got to say the iPhone looks slightly more premium in comparison it looks like it has a bit more character to it whereas the ultra is a bit more bland at least in terms of looks color-wise though I do prefer the way that Samsung dealt with the titanium gay colorway it's got subtle hints of gold to it making it for a much more elegant and premium looking color under the right lighting you can really see the gold just shine through a truly incredible color Biometrics wise it's definitely a matter of preference I am personally not a fan of face ID I think a fingerprint scanner is more convenient in certain scenarios and because of that I do prefer the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner found on the s24 ultra it's fast convenient and almost never misses the timing now we make our way over to the displays this comparison is just ridiculous because both of these phones have stunning displays absolutely gorgeous the ultra features a 6.8 in Dynamic amlet fully rectangular H2 display with a resolution of 3120 x440 and a PPI of 501 this is a Quad HD Plus panel that just looks stunning in real life now this is an ltpo display meaning that the refresh rate varies from 1 HZ to 120 HZ depending on what you're doing on the display the ultra Sports is screen to body ratio of 89.1 2% meaning that this thing is nearly all screen and this display also gets exceptionally bright peing at a Max brightness of 2,600 nits the iPhone 15 Pro Max features a beautiful 6.7 in OLED panel with a resolution of 1290 X 2796 for a PPI of 460 so the s24 ultra does have the slightly sharper display the iPhone 15 Pro Max Peaks at a Max brightness of 2,000 nits screen to body ratio wise you're looking at 89.5% the s24 ultra for the first time ever is using corn and gorilla glass armor which comes with anti-reflective properties meaning that this display doesn't reflect as much light as the iPhone 15 Pro Max this is a totally underrated feature that just makes using the s24 ultra so much easier in all sorts of lighting conditions on the display front I got to give it up to Samsung they continue to lead the industry when it comes to display Tech while consuming content I find myself a bit more immersed when I am using the ultra it feels almost like you're holding nothing but a slab of glass in your hands so in the display Department the s24 ultra does come out on top at least in my opinion in the performance Department both of these smartphones are very capable this is not your Android of 2010 Snapdragon has come a very long way the s24 ultra features the Snapdragon hn3 chipset along with 12 GB of RAM one UI 6.1 is such a well thought out UI the UI is very clean it looks very minimal and it overall works very well opening and closing apps is a breeze the animations are terrific there is no noticeable lag in day-to-day usage social media apps surprisingly work well on the ultra no random crashes I can upload high quality videos and photos to various social media platforms and everything from from the control panel to the lock screen just looks so clean of course with the iPhone 15 Pro Max you're looking at iOS 16.4 iOS is great it works well with other Apple products banking apps social media apps and other messenger apps all work great on the iPhone but I do prefer oneui over iOS it's just my preference I like to tweak things here and there on my phone I love being able to place widgets and apps wherever I want on my phone without having to go through all this extra work and of course I love having a clear all button when I want to clear all of my apps I know on iOS you really don't have to clear apps due to Superior RAM management but I just like the fact that the clear R button is there just in case but it doesn't just stop there I think we can all agree that artificial intelligence is the future and how AI is integrated into our smartphones is the next step with that being said Galaxy AI is here with the s24 ultra initially I thought that it would be a gimmick but man the more I use this device on a daily basis the more I rely on AI a very useful AI feature is the s24 ultra Circle to search simply search whatever you see on your phone no matter what what it is to simply pull up a Google Search and then we have the voice recorder app that records everything around you and summarizes the conversation into bullet points these are actually useful AI features I pretty much use every day on my phone like circuit to search has completely changed the way that I interact with my smartphone I mean just think about that for a second to completely change the way you interact with your smartphone in 2024 is kind of unheard of but with subtle AI Integrations like circuit to search it becomes possible and more importantly useful on an iPhone I'd consider you lucky if you can get Siri to set in a alarm seriously that's how far behind apple is when it comes to AI there are some rumors that iOS 18 is going to bring chat jpt like features to Siri but that's still remains to be seen so for now Galaxy AI does lead the way I believe haptics are an important part of using a smartphone subtle vibrational feedback that make using a smartphone all the more pleasurable in this comparison the iPhone 15 Pro Max definitely has the better haptic motor the vibrations are subtle yet strong they feel good and they give you good feedback whenever you're typing or playing games the s24 ultra has an allright haptic MTAR the vibrations aren't quite as good as the iPhone 15 Pro Max they do feel like a bit of an afterthought from Samsung for the most part however on the typing front I will say this the typing experience is vastly superior on the s24 ultra currently I'm using keyboard and man I'm just so much faster and a better typer on the ultra the iOS keyboard needs a lot of work there's no comma unless I swap to the next page there's no number row key on the first page and the auto correct isn't as good as gboard if you want to be an efficient typer on a smartphone the s24 ultra is the way to go I write business emails all the time on my ultra but on an iPhone if it's not urgent I usually wait till I find myself in front of a keyboard before replying to emails both of these flagships have terrific battery life but in my testing the s24 ultra is giving me better screen on times sporting a massive 5,000 mAh battery I'm able to complete my day with around 9 hours of screen on time this is on a 5G Network for about 80% of my day with the iPhone I usually average around 8 hours and 15 minutes once again this is very good battery life and once again this is on a 5G Network for about 80% of my day the s24 ultra is for sure the battery King and I really don't see a phone coming out this year that's going to beat the ultra in terms of screen on time on the charging front the s24 ultra does charge faster with 45 WS wire charging now compare that to the iPhone's 255 W fast charging and we already know which one is the winner both these devices do come with wireless charging but the s24 ultra features reverse wireless charging which I really don't use that much but in a pinch it can prove to be very useful one thing that I have noticed though is that the s24 ultra handles thermals much better than the iPhone does when the iPhone is running console of a games like Resident Evil the iPhone gets ridiculously hot in fact it gets so hot that Apple recommends using a controller while playing console of games but what about just regular mobile games like League of Legends wild drift well in my experience the iPhone still gets hot the s24 ultra does a terrific job with heat management partly due to the fact that it does have a bigger Vapor cooling chamber this year which certainly helps keeping the phone cool so yeah if you're big into gaming on your smartphone and you want good gaming performance and heat management the s24 ultra is the way to go a lot of people love to say that the iPhone's biggest Advantage is the ecosystem and I have to disagree I just feel like in this comparison the Apple ecosystem is the more popular ecosystem that's why we all know about it but what if I told you Samsung's ecosystem is on par with the Apple ecosystem in my opinion Samsung has an underrated ecosystem mostly because it's not as popular but that doesn't necessarily mean it's not as good now just hear me out the Samsung ecosystem has a smartwatch earbuds a tablet a TV a fridge and even laundry machines I mean this is a vast ecosystem and and the thing is if you use a Samsung phone on The Daily you'll learn to appreciate its ecosystem I'd say that the tab S9 Ultra is on par with the iPad Pro I'd say that the Galaxy buds are on par with the airpods but Apple does have the better Smartwatch there is not a smartwatch out there that's better than the Apple watch Ultra and if you feel the same way then you'd be correct but the s24 ultra has another ecosystem trick up its sleeve and that's Samsung Dex Samsung Dex just quietly keeps on getting better and better and nobody is talking about it this is a 17in portable touch screen display made by espresso display they are a fantastic company doing some really big things so make sure you guys do check them out I'll leave some links for you guys in the description below this display has totally changed the way I use my s24 ultra in public I can set up this display wherever I go and actually be productive thanks to Samsung decks whether it be on a plane in a cafe or just in the comfort of my car in a random parking lot all it takes is one plugin of a USBC cable and you get a PC like touchscreen experience to multitask and get work done a totally underrated feature Samsung de X Plus espresso display is such a good combo if you guys are in the Samsung ecosystem check out the espresso display it's totally worth the investment so yeah in the ecosystem Department no matter the outrage I got to give it up to Samsung and the s24 ultra I think Mac safe is one of the most underrated features on an iPhone just being able to slap on accessories to the back of my iPhone via magnet is such a useful feature I can even slap this phone to my Rhino Shield water bottle when I'm doing work the convenience of Max safe cannot be understated and that's why it's a shame that the s24 ultra doesn't come with Max safe of course there's a record on for this in the form of Max safe cases but for someone like myself who prefers to rock their phone naked this is a Miss if you guys want to 15 Pro Max Samsung still has a way to go in that department to catch up with apple take a listen first off and let me know what you guys think [Laughter] then we make our way over to the cameras you're looking at a 200 megap Main sensor on the s24 ultra versus a 48 megapix sensor on the iPhone 15 Pro Max despite the fact that Samsung has improved the shutter speed on the s24 ultra it's still a bit slower than the iPhone 15 Pro Max when it comes to snapping pictures but which one takes the better pictures using the main lens I think at this point it's a matter of preference because the s24 ultra tends to lean towards warmer tones images are a bit more saturated and overall a bit more contrasty in comparison to the iPhone the iPhone favors cooler tones and it's a bit more realistic to real life in low lighting conditions I prefer the shots coming out of the s24 ultra the cooler tones look more realistic to the actual scene the iPhone has this warm overcast to it which I personally don't prefer in the night mode comparison there's no denying it the iPhone is vastly Superior in almost all situations you get a brighter more Vivid image that's able to bring out the dark corners of your scene that the s24 ultra is just not able to do the night mode on the iPhone 15 Pro Max was what really impressed me when I first got this phone and it continues to impress me to this day in the versatility and the zoom Department Samsung continues to lead the pack the s24 ultra has better zoom capabilities with the 10x 30X and even the X even when just comparing pictures at 3x the s24 ultra definitely takes the better pictures more detail better resolution and a more realistic image in comparison to the iPhone and this continues to be the case with the other focal points such as 5x 10x 25x versus 30X and then of course a 100x which I very rarely find myself using when it comes to straightup video the iPhone simply has no competition I mean the video coming out of the s24 ultra is good don't get me wrong you can shoot shots all the way up to 8K footage at 30 FPS but the quality the colors the Vibrance and the stabilization is just better on the iPhone like the iPhone footage is something I wouldn't mind sharing with you guys on my YouTube channel because the quality is just that good as you guys saw in this video both these phones have their own unique advantages and disadvantages I will say that the s20 for Ultra is the more complete phone out of the two but then again if you're already locked into the Apple ecosystem and you don't want to try to adopt a new
