I Stayed Overnight in a Japanese Cat Hotel 🐈 Cats in YOUR ROOM!

hey guys good morning from the shinkansen today i'm taking you along with me on a trip to the hakone area of kanagawa prefecture you've probably heard of hakunai before it's very famous for hot spring resorts and really nice views of mount fuji but today i'm actually going to the neighboring town of yugawada which is home to the best hotel in the entire world [Music] welcome to my cat the absolute best hotel in the entire world it is a traditional japanese inn a ryokan that lets you choose a cat from their cat cafe and take it back to your room for the night and you get to play with the cat all night and keep it with you and return it in the morning i i think um this cat has chosen me unfortunately himechan is unavailable to take back to your room with you she's currently undergoing treatment for cancer but she's a very happy kitty and she's very well taken care of she doesn't want to get off my lap she's the sweetest little kitty i'm going to go back to my room in a second here it's almost time for the cats to have dinner i'm going to go to 7-eleven and grab some dinner for myself and then we're going to come back down here to the cat cafe and choose which cat we want for the night i think i might actually get two i think they let you have more than one that would be amazing the owners prepared the best room in the house for me there's an amazing view outside of the coast this is such a pretty area so yukawara is the town right next to hakone so it's not a famous tourist spot so it's not overly crowded with tourists and it's a really beautiful location such a cool little town over in the closet here i feel like you guys probably know what to expect you've seen enough ryokan traditional inn videos from me to know what's in here tada the futon some extra towels and stuff if you need it i'll be setting up my futon later before the cat comes to my room little fridge and over here i have my own toilet i believe not all the rooms have their own toilet and sink this is one of the more deluxe rooms and the shower and bath is in a shared area downstairs but while you're using it you can turn the lock so that no one else will come in so technically it's like a private bath which is awesome i'm just going to pop down to the convenience store and grab some food because once we bring the cat to my room you don't want to leave the cat by itself while you go out shopping so if you want to get some dinner and bring it back to the room with you you can do that so let's go to 7-eleven i'm gonna show you guys some of the walk on the way to 7-eleven it's such a cool little town there's so many really pretty flowers and little side streets just outside the hotel there was a cocky tree a persimmon tree and what looked like a mekong tree it's pretty cool all right i got a really good haul at 7-eleven they had quite a few really nice things this time and they had cat treats which is kind of rare these are tube wet food snacks and they're like every cat's dream they love these so much so i thought i would get those for the cat that will be spending the night with me all right it's time to go downstairs and head to the cat cafe and probably gonna spend about an hour or so in the cat cafe playing with all the different cats and choosing the one that i want to spend the night with [Music] all right guys it's the moment we've all been waiting for i'm here at the cat cafe area and i'm going to choose two cats to spend the night with me i've looked on the website and i found one cat that i'm specifically looking for it kind of reminds me of maro he's super cute and they've got a little file here that lists all the cats at the hotel and it tells you who their best friends are so this is the page for dango and these are all his friends so if i'd like to bring another cat to the room i should choose one of these guys here i think i'm gonna go with kashiwa cause apparently he's super friendly and he might even sleep in the futon with me this is kashiwa here he's super cute amazing takes me four hours to do that with my cats good boy good boy i've never seen cats that want to go with their cages this is like the weirdest thing i've ever seen hey foreign foreign so i went downstairs and asked the owner if i could give them some snacks and he said unfortunately not because dango kun goes a little crazy and he bit someone when they were trying to feed him a chow chooter once so he's not allowed to have snacks kashiwa is but if i give one to kashua then dango will be sad so no snacks for them they're on a diet tonight but i grabbed some toys to play with them uh from the hallway so we'll do that instead and keep them entertained in the water crazy boy what are you doing [Music] while the cats are taking a break going to take this moment to tell you guys a little bit about the hotel so there are six rooms in total it's not an overly large hotel so if you do want to stay here maybe make your reservations quite early the price of the rooms depends on which room you stay in but the standard price is about 4 500 yen per night which is super cheap if you want to have a cat in your room for the night it's an extra 2 200 yen per cat so the total cost of the room i'm staying in plus the two casts is probably gonna be about a hundred dollars for the night and honestly i think that's a pretty good deal for what you get it's been really fun so far and i had a really good time chatting with the owner he's a really cool guy he started up this place to give people a chance to experience what it's like owning a cat before they actually take the leap to buy one he said he had heard lots of stories of people either adopting cats or purchasing one from a pet store and then realizing it's a lot more work than they expected and either abandoning the cat or giving it away or you know so he wanted to create an environment where people could come here and experience taking care of a cat for the night doing the whole toilet cleaning watching them go crazy in the room seeing that they scratch stuff or they meow they're noisy you know all the things that you might not be aware come with owning a cat you can experience it here and see if it's right for you so i think it's a really cool idea and i highly recommend you guys come here if you are cat people you will absolutely love it all right time to tire the cats out with some playing so that they'll cuddle up in the futon with me hopefully we've got a bin of goodies here you can choose some stuff and bring back to your room i feel like they'd like this one [Music] [Music] so [Music] all right i think i'm going to head to bed now the boys are looking pretty sleepy i will report back in the morning and let you know if i was successful at uh convincing any of them to sleep in my futon but i'll see you guys in the morning good night good morning guys we're just waking up here and the cats are hungry they're preparing themselves in their cages because they want to go downstairs and eat oh are you hungry boy they get fed every morning at exactly nine o'clock and they know it's coming up so i thought it was going to be hard to get them in the cages this is great come on come here good boy come on oh boy good boy don't go in your cage they fell asleep last night as soon as i got into bed they're really well trained and really well behaved dungo ended up sleeping on my pillow with me and kashiwa was on top of my feet so that was really cute okay it's breakfast time i'll take you back hi katie [Music] and that is the end of our cat hotel adventure i'm really glad i got to show you guys this place big thank you to ochisan for letting me film the room we had a little mishap with kashiwa and the shoji screen he saw a bird outside and couldn't help himself and kind of dove right into it so hopefully they're used to that and that's okay but other than that they were very well behaved really beautiful cats and it was such
