I Sent My Brand New PS5 Back to Sony! Was it Fixed or Replaced?

hey everybody uh i told y'all i'll be back to do a quick short video um i just got my playstation 5 back uh from sony i sent it in to get fixed i was basically having some artifacting issues where it was glitching and flickering and stuff like that it was nothing uh with certain video games that i was playing um so i was kind of a little hesitant initially about sending it in and i didn't know how long it was going to take and i know right now there's a scarce supply when finding playstation so i was like if i send it in you know it could be a month two months before i even get it back if i'm lucky uh so when initially i called sony um they told me that it could take anywhere the process from three to five weeks to get a new playstation um then i went ahead and okay that uh they sent me a box i got the box last monday um i went ahead and sent the playstation back last tuesday here it is literally seven days later and i just got the box back today um literally the email that i received they said they got it on friday so i mailed it in last tuesday they got it friday the same day i got an email indicating that it was replaced and they sh they sent out they didn't say it was replaced they said it was repaired uh and then they went ahead and sent me uh you know uh this box here that i'm getting ready to open now so um a couple things i'm checking for to see if it was repaired or if they just sent me a brand new console uh so i'm definitely going to check the serial number um but anybody who's uh reluctant who might be having similar issues who's scared to send it back because you don't know how long it'll be literally this only took me a week so if you're having any type of artifacting issues that i was experiencing or even worse then um you know the time the turnaround time of getting it back uh is quick so i would definitely recommend doing that so let's go ahead and get this thing open that'll get the other way all right i got a letter from playstation uh regarding the service request case number uh please retain this for your records and for warranty purposes and closes your factory certified replacement of your repair unit so just offer this letter alone basically is indicating that they didn't repair they just sent me out a brand new console a lot of times when you're dealing with artifacting issues usually it's a hardware issue it's nothing that a software update can fix um you know and it's usually signs of having a bad gpu they put lots of bubble wrap on this i'll go ahead and give this to my kids hold on sweetie [Music] [Music] hold on let me take it off let me take it off yeah wow all right take it over there all right so here she is [Music] our playstation i'm just gonna check the serial number just to be certain yep this ends in 280 so this is a different serial number from the original serial number that i uh was given on the box when i initially purchased the console anyways i'm gonna go ahead and hook this uh bad boy up to the tv uh we're gonna run a test make sure those games that i was having issues with concerning the artifacting are working and running smoothly one last thing is that sony did advise me that all of the playstation replacement consoles that are they that they're sending back to people have been provenly tested i have been proven tested so uh you know they basically they don't want this to be a reoccurring thing where you'll have to send it back uh because it's having the same issue so we'll get it plugged up you know we'll take a look you know we'll get right back with you guys all right y'all i got the playstation 5 hooked up it's been running very quiet and smooth which is a good sign right now we're going to check out nba 2k this game particularly was one of the games that had some artifacting uh going on so let's take a look everything's looking good you will see a lot of artifacting around this time right here all right that's what i like to see let's try the next game all right i got resident evil 2 here for playstation 4. uh on the ps5 i was having horrible artifacting going on uh right here in the scene so it seems to be uh working as anticipated so we'll go on to the next game right i'm analyzing this last game call of duty black uh cold war uh this game would not play at all it just kept crashing i was able to play the ps4 version but not the ps5 version at all so let's see what it do i'll show you where it crashed at it will crash right here and it has not crashed all right that's what i'm talking about all right everybody so i just finished testing out the uh playstation 5 after receiving it back from sony uh all of the games that i was having issues or concerns regarding artifacting i have played extremely smoothly uh as anticipated um i hadn't had any issues initially sony was telling me to uh change it into performance mode or resolution mode or change the transfer rate for 4k to negative 2 or negative 1. i tried that none of it worked like i said if you're having issues regarding any type of artifact and more than likely it's going to be your gpu your best bet is just to get it sent and get a replacement back to sony as soon as possible the sooner the better if your main concerns are about not having a playstation and how long it'll take like i said it literally only took me a week they did not repair they sent me a new console um so
